Dear ones,
It's difficult to understand that the world is changing if all you see is chaos and destruction. But working covertly behind the scenes, unseen for years, are countless groups of Lightworkers who are accelerating the evolution of consciousness.
Lightworkers are individuals who have come to Earth to establish peace and harmony, serve the poor, heal the planet, and bring about a new age of love and understanding. Although most Lightworkers were incarnated recently on this planet, your soul has been on many other planets in many other lifetimes.
Events can be interpreted in many ways, but when you understand the higher laws and know the divine purpose, you see events in a completely different light.
The higher order that governs events is increasingly making itself known, and the old ways of doing things that don't serve humanity's highest good are being increasingly highlighted.
Now that this planet is about to be liberated, the most effective way to make this planet a paradise is to follow what you know will help it.
There are some big changes happening on the planet right now—they might be harder to see, but they're there. The entire world is going through a planetary-level transformation. It's being driven by fundamental changes in the Earth's biosphere and civilization is being swept up in the process.
A new world is emerging. It's not easy to see or understand, but it's there. You can feel it in your deepest self, like an instinct.
The planet Earth is facing a major transitional period. The earth is moving towards new horizons. It’s ambitions are bigger than ever. You are entering an exciting new era where people are more connected, more innovative, and more aware that you are all part of one planet.
Since virtually every living creature is inextricably tied to the Earth, you must give thanks to the Earth for sustaining and protecting every living being. It’s your responsibility to show your gratitude for the Earth’s natural resources.
If you take care of the earth, the earth will take care of you and your children. It's important to spend some time in nature every day. It doesn't take much time, just a few moments in your bare feet on the ground, and that is very good for your soul.
When you do this, you connect with the Earth. You connect with the divine. When your connection to the divinity within you grows, this develops the quality of trust within yourself.
The Divine Essence always has your best interests at heart. It is not some outside force that controls you. This essence is your internal guidance system, and when you’re in full listening mode, you are more able to hear its messages.
Just as the Divine Essence is within you, it also surrounds you, encompassing everything in the universe. The energy of the Divine Essence flows through your physical body as well as our Earth, space, and all those who inhabit this planet. It envelopes everyone, from those born to those who have passed away.
It is a part of everyone and everything. By being in the present moment, you simply allow yourself to experience what is there, without interpretation or judgment.
By being in the present moment, the quality of trust within yourself develops on its own. And the more trust you develop in yourself, the more you can go with the flow of life, and experience serenity and joy.
All of these experiences add up to an expanded awareness that has allowed you to tap into new sources of energy that allow you to lift your vibration and expand your consciousness.
Chances are, if you are reading this, you are aware that maintaining a strong connection to spirit is important for raising your consciousness and ascending to the 5th dimension. As you grow daily, your spirit expands and your ability to feel energetic and vibrant increases.
However, it is not uncommon to experience physical discomfort while increasing your consciousness. This refers to the biological changes that are happening in your body. Depending on which part of your DNA is being activated, you experience sensations that feel like heat or tingling throughout your spine.
When you begin moving toward a new reality, you may notice these sensations, but once you pass through the transition, your body may feel a whole lot different.
You’ll feel like you’re in a whole new world. The change will be subtle, but powerful. It will lift you up and make you feel blissful, happy, and free. You’ll experience a state of oneness within yourself and the universe.
This is a sign that you’re beginning to enter the fifth dimension, better known as your spiritual enlightenment, where everything is possible and there are no limits!

Today, I am going to attempt something I have not done before. Some people like to write spells on here, or show you how to draw sigils, but what I am going to do is offer a form of guided spiritual meditation. This will not follow the self-guided methods I have described, but will still operate on some of the principles of energywork I have explored with you. If you don't want to try it, that is totally fine, and you may read it casually or just skip this post.
That being said, we are going to attempt a guided meditation that starts with grounding from a conscious state, then works down through your root patterns to the source of Earth's energy, and your connection to that source. If you have some trauma regarding family or your gender identity, I again caution you to proceed safely. Next time, we will begin from a head state instead of conscious. If you're going to try it, please find a comfortable place where you can spend about 20-30 minutes uninterrupted.
We begin in your Conscious State. Your eyes see the world around you, the screen these words are on, and everything else in the room. If the room is dark, then there's not much left to divert your eyes. Your ears hear every subtle noise, every sound of the wind or rain, every falling leaf, every bird and bug. You hear every air conditioner, fan, or heater nearby. You may hear other people or living beings in the house. Your nose picks up on the fine composition of all material things, wafting toward you through the air. Your tongue likely tastes your last meal, your saliva, or whatever freshens your breath. On your skin, you feel every light pressure, the presence of the air, the temperature of the room around you, and the heat coming from your own body. But there is more. You feel a sense of where your head sits, what your hands and arms are doing, how you have your feet and legs positioned. You feel yourself breathing. You feel your heart beating. You have an innate sense of your place in the room. Depending on your level of awareness, you may be sensing things not based in the material. We are here to ground this state in the material, to ground this state in yourself.
Narrow your field of view, narrow the range that things should be seen. There is nothing to see behind you. There is nothing to see to your left. There is nothing to see to your right. There is nothing to see beyond your screen. Your eyes only see these words. You are not focused on the order of words, or the length of sentences. You are not focused on spelling or grammar or punctuation. Only the meaning is important.
Identify a sound you hear nearby. Focus on it for three seconds, then send it away. Tell the sound that you know it is there, but you are done listening. There is no need to hear, only to see, only to read. When you have done this, move to the next sound. Do this again for each sound, until you have sent them all away. Identify the most prominent smell meeting your nose. Focus on it for three seconds, then blow it away. Tell the scent that you know it is there, but you do not need it. Speak the taste of it off of your tongue. There is no need to smell, only to see, only to read. When you have done this, move to the next weakest scent. Do this again for each scent, until you have blown them all away.
Identify the most noticeable thing touching you, other than the floor, other than whatever feeling sits beneath you. Focus on it for three seconds, then will that feeling to move farther away from your body, away and away until it is gone. Tell the feeling that you know it is there, but you are moving away. Let your heartbeat and your expanding lungs push it off. There is no need to feel it.
When you have pushed away each feeling, get a sense of the heat or cold in your room. If the room is too warm, visualize a cold wind blowing away from your body, down and out. Push the heat away. If the room is too cold, picture an icy swirl traveling into your mouth, down past your heart, and into your core. Feel that cold air burning, heating, expanding, escaping. Move the air you heat up around you, and out. Continue this breathing until you are filled and surrounded by heat. Whichever of these you do, do it until the room feels right.
If you are feeling discomfort, distance yourself from it. Tell your discomfort that it is far away. Tell your body that the discomfort is not here. Repeat this to yourself, and visualize the source of your discomfort moving further off. Continue this until you feel safely away from whatever is causing it.
Direct your mind to the room ahead. Don't look at it, just think it, keep it in your thoughts. Note the feeling of the wall, and all closer objects. Tell that wall and those objects that they are far away. Tell your body that those things are not here. Repeat this to yourself, and visualize that wall and those things moving further off.
Direct your mind to the right side of the room. Don't look at it, just think it, keep it in your thoughts. Note the feeling of the wall, and all closer objects. Tell that wall and those objects that they are far away. Tell your body that those things are not here. Repeat this to yourself, and visualize that wall and those things moving further off.
Direct your mind to the room behind you. Don't look at it, just think it, keep it in your thoughts. Note the feeling of the wall, and all closer objects. Tell that wall and those objects that they are far away. Tell your body that those things are not here. Repeat this to yourself, and visualize that wall and those things moving further off.
Direct your mind to the left side of the room. Don't look at it, just think it, keep it in your thoughts. Note the feeling of the wall, and all closer objects. Tell that wall and those objects that they are far away. Tell your body that those things are not here. Repeat this to yourself, and visualize that wall and those things moving further off.
Direct your mind to the ceiling, to everything mounted on it or hanging from it. Don't look at it, just think it, keep it in your thoughts. Note the feeling of the ceiling, and all objects fixed to it. Tell the ceiling and those objects that they are far away. Tell your body that those things are not here, that only the sky is above you. Repeat this to yourself, and visualize the ceiling and those things moving further off.
Direct your mind to the floor, to everything sitting on the floor, to the surface that you are sitting on. Don't look at it, just think it, keep it in your thoughts. Note the feeling of the floor, and all objects sitting on it, any objects you are sitting on. Tell the floor and those objects that they are far away. Tell your body that those things are not here, that they are far, far below you. Repeat this to yourself, and visualize the floor and those things moving further down, your body floating in the air. There is no need to feel, only to see, only to read.
Allow your senses to fall into a relaxed place, a quiet place, a safe place. You will continue to see and understand these words, but you will not have to try. They will just appear before your eyes, and your mind will get them perfectly. Withdraw your consciousness beneath your skin, beneath the organs that give you senses. Feel only your blood moving evenly through your body, your heart beating, lungs pushing in and out. The outside of your body is a great hall. It is vast in scale, and it is far away.
Withdraw deeper still, beneath the flesh and blood. Feel only the heart of your bones, feel the barest nerves connecting to your brain. The flesh is a vast cavern. The lungs are the wind. The heart is the Sun. All enormous and distant, all far away.
Withdraw deeper still, pulling your consciousness away from the furthest nerves, into the base of your spine. Up the small of your back. Up the middle of your back. Between your shoulders. Up the brain stem. Your consciousness is only in your brain. All else is millions of miles away.
Withdraw deeper still, pulling your consciousness into the very center of your brain, then away. You are not your brain. The brain is flesh. The brain is distant. The brain is not you. You are the living energy pulsing through those faraway places. You are traveling. But you are home. No matter how far you travel, you are always on Earth. Always connected to Earth.
You are connected to the people who brought you into this world. Visualize them, make it clear who they are. Look at this image, and see how it has been changed by your opinion, your experience. Pull that away. See the person without your opinion, without your experience. See only who that person is. Draw yourself toward these people.
These people who brought you into this world are themselves connected to parents. Visualize them. Become aware of their parents, and the parents before them. Realize that each of these people has been brought into this world by people before them. You were a part of your parents. They were parts of their parents. Who were parts of their parents.
Move away from Self. Move away from individual. Move away from desire, from opinion. What remains is experience, the lives of all these people. Dive into those lives. Feel them drawing further back in human events. Further back in time. Traveling the surface of the Earth.
Move away from Humanity. Move away from people, from individuals, from societies. Move away from rules and consequences. What remains is the female and the male. However those humans identified, however they were seen. Their bodies and their purposes in the species were defined this way. They either bore children, or gave the code that helped those children take shape. This primal truth goes beyond gender roles, beyond Self. Feel the divine masculine moving through countless species, driving them, spurring them to breed. Realize that this is an important part of the puzzle, but it is not the whole picture. Set that piece aside.
Move away from the Divine Masculine. Move away from breeding, away from conflict, away from preserving the species. What remains is the Divine Feminine. Feel the divine feminine moving through countless species, embracing, learning, adapting, bringing new life, showing a way forward for the next generation. Protecting the young. Learning from the old.
Realize that She is more than Animal. Realize that She is more than Life.
Realize that She exists, beneath the skin, beneath the burning blood, in the great Yolk of this world. At the heart of all of Planet Earth, She is there.
Feel her presence. Feel her in all life. Feel her in every rock and stream and breeze. Stay there. Drink it in.
Feel the heartbeat of the World. Feel the breathing lungs of the World. Feel the drives of the World. Feel the skin of the World, and every rock and tree and stream and breeze on Her surface. On the surfaces of every Animal. On the surfaces of every Mammal. On the surfaces of every Primate. On the surfaces of every Human. On the surfaces of your every living relative. On your skin. In your blood. In your breath.
Breathe in deeply, feeling the Her power filling your lungs. And exhale, knowing you are one with Her.
Draw yourself in. Draw power in close, as you are conscious of the Earth and your place in it. Bring yourself back to center. Back to the room. Settle in your head, your chest, your limbs. Take a minute to appreciate what you have just felt. Remember it, so that whenever you are in a Conscious state, and you need to ground yourself, you can call back this feeling.
Be at Peace.

Grief in all its Glory

I recently came across a website for Australians to speak openly about grief. It was startling. Not what was said on it. But the fact that a website like that now existed. I’d never seen anything so open and frank before. What should be startling is that humans still live in this discomfort of talking about certain sadness's, bereavements, pains and anguish. The most inevitable experience is still faux pas - we all die, but talking about it is not altogether acceptable. Along the journey of life, there are other sadness’s and struggles which, once brewed in scalding waters of unsavoury conversation, now seep in tepid tolerance. For the most part, I refer to this broadly as ‘mental illness’, and while its garnered greater awareness, it is still riddled with stigma and misunderstanding. Similarly, discussions around addiction are typically soaked in the self-aggrandising dogma that this only happens to the lower echelons of society; those plagued by weaknesses that led to their inevitable misfortune. And then the doozy of ‘grief’ – talking about it makes many people uneasy; people hold an expectation that you transcend these melancholy confines in a swift enough fashion that you don’t leave them feeling uncomfortable. Yet, grief is unfortunately something every adult will likely experience at some point. Another scandalous topic is that of suicide, despite it sadly becoming an increasingly more and more common way of dying. Then there is the matter of suicide survivors – the one’s who must continue their life with a chasm formed by the absence and loss. Grief with the awareness that someone chose to die is something very staggering.
One of the things that I find most difficult when talking about mental health is that I am in part supporting a system that I do not have faith in. You can tell people that help is out there, but when it comes down to it, the mental health care system in Australia is wildly ineffective (globally, I daresay, and infinitely worse in many locations; however my experience is significantly with Australia so I’ll refrain from speaking too broadly). Worse, it can be even more detrimental than the ills that plague the human mind.
It is hard trying to get help when you need it. It is harder getting the right help. It is a battle. It is a challenge and sometimes it feels like the world is working against you. That's probably because it is, albeit not always intentionally. This is what happened to my brother, to my family, to me.
I should note that he was a very private person, with a strong distaste for the narcissistic realms of social media. I wholeheartedly acknowledge that I am possibly doing something so deeply against his wishes by speaking openly about him and the situation, but to be blunt, he lost the privilege of secrecy. Others too, may not agree with how I elect to narrate this, but from my perspective, you can’t grow awareness and fuel prevention without the discourse.
I understand that this is in part a unique occurrence that I will expand on, but because of this experience I was exposed to a great deal more stories of a similar nature where the health care system let people down. However, this isn’t an ‘all hope is lost’ memoir. To the contrary.
I have…had an older brother. His name was Brandon. He took his life at the age that I am while writing this - 29. Brandon saw mental health specialists. He did try to get better, although arguably not nearly hard enough. In fact, when I cleared out his room after his passing, I dug through the referrals and prescriptions. There was a blister pack of antidepressants. Without the other appropriate tools to recover, or at least to find a semblance of stability, anti-depressants can only do so much. By this point he had very evidently given up on these little dosages of ‘here-this-will-help-but-may-also-increase-your-risk-of-suicidal-ideation.’ Only one pill was missing. The anti-depressant was not in his toxicology report, although the post-mortem showed many, many other drugs. In clearing his room, I later read his journaling scrawls that he had found drugs that numbed his pain more effectively than anti-depressants. Some of these are ones that Brandon got hooked on due to an overzealous general practitioner. And then another general practitioner. His addiction began with prescription opioids and graduated with drugs acquired from the dark web including heroin and fentanyl, amongst other things. My family and I only found out about this after his passing.

This part isn't altogether unique. We take suppressants to deal with pain…to deal with life. A hard day at work - have a drink. Can't sleep - have a vali. Can't survive the never-ending and all-encompassing pain - take it all.
The opioid problem in the US is significant and garners a fair amount of attention. It exists here in Australia, too. That is why legislation came into effect to further regulate practitioners from prescribing them. This took place about a year after Brandon’s death. This blanket restriction isn’t an entirely curative solution. There are those that genuinely need these medications for chronic pain who now must jump through hoops to get their treatment. There are those who still have the wherewithal to find a source, even if through illegal means (queue Brandon). This form of paternalistic legislation does not solve the problem at its root – why there is a mental health epidemic; where is society failing that the individual solution appears to be a sturdy dose of numbing or a leap of faith into the dark abyss. Opioids work in a manner of escalation. A dosage that was once satisfying does less and less. So, you need more and more. Price can also become a factor, so you salvage heavier shit for a lower cost.
Brandon wound up in hospital only a few days prior to taking his life. He had collapsed in my father’s kitchen. My dad thought he was losing him right then and there. An ambulance came and he was rushed to hospital. He had 'accidentally' taken too much tramadol. During this incident, the ambulance respondents commented in front of my younger brother on the visible track marks on Brandon's arms. Brandon was released from hospital the following day. Simple as that. My father didn't know that the foreboding premonition of losing Brandon would be the stark reality a few short days later as he tried to perform CPR on his eldest son.
The ambulance workers that saw Brandon's track marks would not have consciously made the choice to neglect a person who clearly needed help. But somehow, he fell through the cracks of a less than fastidious system. In some ways, learning about Brandon's history with prescription drugs was more difficult than his actual suicide. Learning how he had been failed was, and is, harder to come to terms with than the fact that he recognised he had been let down. The thing that came as a shock to Brandon's friends (and subsequently me) was that he did not die of an overdose. He did not take his life in that way. That is something I have battled with. He made a very different sort of deliberate effort in how he left us which I may never understand. That’s suicide though – you often don’t understand and are left wondering so many things.
We won't ever know if the tramadol overdose was intentional or not, but it was explained to me by my older brother as an 'oopsy-daisy' in an email. I was overseas at that time. Ironically, I took one tramadol tablet for my flight back and found the experience horrible and was sluggish for days after. The same day that I had recovered from my singular adventure with tramadol my brother made that irreversible choice.
I was at the pub with friends when Brandon made that fateful choice to dive into that dark void. I had missed calls on my phone from my mother. I called back and didn’t receive an answer. I later found out my younger brother and mother were debating just driving straight to me in order to not have to tell me over the phone. It was my younger brother's birthday that day and I had presumed they were contacting about that. I texted back that I was currently out and tried calling again. ‘Brandon hung himself’, my mum said. I dropped to my knees on the outskirts of the bar and wailed, ‘no’. In a daze I went back to my friends, grabbed my bag mumbling that my brother had killed himself. A friend walked me home. My mother and brother arrived some period of time after. I still don't understand how my mother was capable of driving. She drove us to my dad's house where the suicide had occurred. We weren't permitted near that section of the house and the police referred to it as a 'crime scene'. We sat outside the house as a family, coming in and out of tears and shock.
At one point I had to go to the bathroom and went up around the other side of the house – the side that wasn’t deemed part of the crime scene. Through the glass I saw my brother lying on the cold stone floor with a neck brace on and a sheet pulled midway up his chest. I went to the bathroom and vomited. I stared at my face with mascara smeared everywhere and recognised that while I looked so distraught, that was possibly the most peaceful I'd seen my brother in a long, long time. I took some breaths and went back to my family. I have never really been able to leave my family since that point. I will have panic attacks if I can't reach one of them, thinking that something bad has happened. That is part of the PTSD of losing a loved one in a shocking way.
On my family's healing journey, we attended suicide survivor groups. At these I heard other tales of the health care system having failed them and/or their loved ones. One that stuck with me the most was a suicide in the middle of a hospital ward while under 24/7 suicide watch. On my personal healing journey, I've had several problematic run-ins with the health care system. To name a few:
I had a psychologist tell me that Brandon's choice to take his life in the family home was a sign that he blamed the family. Guilt is such a huge thing that follows a suicide. Psych 101 is alleviating that form of mental anguish for suicide survivors. That mental health practitioner failed at the first hurdle. Despite me having the knowledge that you cannot blame yourself, having someone - who is meant to understand the human mind, with all the complexities of grief and guilt – tell you that you are blamed is a pretty heavy cross to bear. I had found Brandon's parting note. It was on stained paper, written a long while ago. On it he said that he was sorry, but the pain was too much. A psychologist I had sat in a room with for all of 15 minutes told me that he blamed us. A sister riddled with guilt that she didn't save her brother. Brandon said a lot of things, but Brandon did not outright blame us. Still, in most ways, he did not say enough.
Sitting in anger about Brandon's introduction to prescription opioids, I had a different psychologist tell me that I shouldn't make noise because it would cause me more distress, that people can't change and the system won't change so it's best I change my view on things. That was her response to most things. No inclination to think that holding someone accountable for some of Brandon's struggles would have offered me enormous relief. One of his original GPs died two weeks prior to writing this. I honestly felt a sense of liberation but also a sense of loss, primarily because I never got to lambast them. Only last week did I learn that the best avenue would have been to make a complaint via the Health Care Complaints Commission so that this GP would not make the same grave errors. That would have potentially changed a person and a segment of the system, as well as maybe saving others from addiction. But in a system where health care providers would prefer you don't 'rock the boat' it's better you just sit quietly in your grief.
I have struggled with this loss. I wasn't close with Brandon anymore. We had a dysfunctional relationship and I had honestly largely tried ridding my life of him. Subsequently, as mentioned, I felt overwhelmed with guilt. I myself turned to ways to numb this feeling. I drank too much and partied more. I made reckless choices, acted rashly, behaved erratically. A psychiatrist put me onto medication to help me deal with these stages of grief. This is now a medication that I have been unable to get off because of the withdrawal side-effects. The mental health industry prefers a quick-fix solution such as medication. It appears as though they are making effective progress. Brandon's pain was 'effectively' dulled by opioids. My grief was 'effectively' subdued with medication rather than giving me the tools to process the grief and miss my brother in whatever way I needed to. I’ve learned the hard way, but the greatest remedy for some of the most common forms of mental illness doesn’t come in the form of a pill. It is habitually changing the way you think, how you perceive yourself, how you see the world. There are tools and techniques you can learn to make these changes, and these are not measured in milligrams or dosage frequencies. They do not have side effects. Tell a depressed person that one of the potential side effects of their anti-depressant is to experience depression and see how much hope you give that down-trodden soul.
Grief is a peculiar thing. It can come in waves. It can come in so many ways. But something I can definitively say is that you can be stronger than the grief and you can be strong enough to survive, whether the system lapses or not. I am testimony to that.
To mental health generally, in the end, only you can make the best decisions for yourself. That choice is yours. Yes, addiction can make that a whole lot harder, and the crutch can create a cyclic pattern in a self-fulfilling prophecy of defeat. A lot of external factors can impact your choices and make it more challenging to make the right decisions. But you’ve been through harder things. Yes, I am placing blame on the shoulders of some others besides Brandon, while in a contradictory fashion saying you make your own choices. That’s another thing about grief – you want to assign blame somewhere. So, for clarity, Brandon made his choice and might have made it irrespective of the system. But our broken system sure as hell got him there prematurely, not even seeing 30.
I have shared this because I absolutely know that it is hard. That it is not always easy to get help. That the system is fucked. But that is not enough reason to give up. I sit here in my anger and sadness that the system let both my brother and me down countless times. But it is still not enough reason to give up. You can always be stronger and will get back up. Each. And. Every. Fucking. Time. Some people have said to me that it’s impossible to get better, that they can’t be fixed, that they can’t find help that works. There are many different ways of getting help, and if the ‘traditional’ mechanisms of speaking to a shrink doesn’t float your boat then it doesn’t mean all hope is lost. On the contrary – you’ve found one approach that doesn’t aid you and the process of elimination on your mental health journey should be valued. Knowing what doesn’t help can sincerely lead you to learning what does help.
I have also shared this because this is just a small portion of what losing someone to suicide does. This is the honest truth of what grief looks like. I recognise and admit that I have struggled so much with it. As I said, Brandon and I weren’t even close anymore. This is the pain that I feel from losing a dysfunctional sibling relationship. Do not think that you won’t leave people in agonising pain, no matter your relationship with them.
A further reason why I’ve written this is what I alluded to at the start – these are topics that people don’t like to talk about or hear about. But this is reality. These conversations are fucking triggering and upsetting. Hell, it’s taken a god damn lot of strength for me to write this. However, the more we elect to not talk about what’s wrong with the world, these social maladies will continue under the cloak of secrecy, the guise of accepting the status quo, and within the nonchalant notion that we can’t change things.
The final reason for why I’ve shared this is for my own personal growth and to voice some anger and dissatisfaction. I am so tired of the way the world operates. The abuse of power. The legitimisation of harmful actions in the name of greed. You don’t need to spend $490 (not an exaggeration, this is an actual amount) for 45 minutes at a psychiatrist’ office to ‘get better’. Being told that costly drugs are your only cure isn’t the singular answer. Not banking your hope for a tranquil mind on external sources should be a part of psych 101. It’s a hard fucking slog, and I get to say this from my ivory tower of white privilege. Likewise, my older brother won’t fit the stereotyped bullshit of a lowly sort destined for failure who succumbed to addiction. He wasn’t deprived of finances and destitute; he was extremely intelligent and had potential beyond belief. The ineptitude of the mental health system might fail us privileged ones, but the collateral damage is far greater than just us. Quite often those who are struggling the most do not have the financial stability to even contemplate these forms of ‘solutions’. It is a mental health system supported by greed and the foundations of neoliberalism. If we are forced to adhere to this approach – that the onus is always on the individual to better their personal situation – then use this to your advantage. Say fuck the system, I’ve got this with or without you. I am a strong human and I will carry myself through.
There are some ugly things being put on full display because of Covid19. But there are also some good things that you can't lose sight of. We might feel alone, either physically or mentally, but I promise you that you are not. Please get in touch if you need to talk and I will be there. There is something so significant that loved ones can provide. Although, this is just the icing on the cake of what a gift your life is. Albeit, it sure does help having someone care, so don’t forget that part when you’re given the opportunity to be kind to someone else. We are all part of a thriving organism called society that breathes and glistens on the basis of human connection and the human experience. It reaffirms that we are not alone. You are not alone, even when you feel as though you are.
That voice calling for calm or a cessation to the pain isn’t asking for the dark abyss; it’s asking you to stand up and fight the battle worth fighting. Your life is worth fighting for, even against an invisible enemy.

Mindfulness Meditation in Western Society
Meditation has become extremely popular in western society in the recent years however; it has existed for thousands of years and has obviously passed the test of time in various other cultures. If meditation was not beneficial would it still be around and being practiced thousands of years later? Probably not.
The word meditation tends to cause confusion in many people due to it being unknown or regarded as somewhat metaphysical, new age, or associated with a special dogma or religion. Well as just discussed there is nothing new about meditation and I believe that the foundation for meditation in its purity is not confusing or complex. The very essence of meditation is simplicity, but as Ayaja states in his psychotherapy text, "simplicity is often the most complicated thing" (Ajaya, 1983, 126). I genuinely believe this statement to be accurate in especially western society's way of life.
Life consists of simple principles, however human beings tend to complicate them within their minds rather than living and being from the soul. I know for my life, I choose to keep meditation and living as simple as possible. I think Stephen Levine says it best when he discussed meditation in his book, A Gradual Awakening, "meditation is for many a foreign concept, somehow distant and foreboding, seemingly impossible to participate in. But another word for meditation is simply awareness. Meditation is awareness" (Levine, 1989, 1). Now, this explanation is indeed workable and practical to an individual wanting to become involved in meditation.

There are several types of meditation, however Levine states that "differences in these techniques are basically due to the primary object which is concentrated on through the process" (Levine, 1989, 8). After all, as Goleman (1972a) states, "the goal of all meditation systems, whatever the ideological orientation or source...is to transform the waking state through the fruits of practice - to die to the life of the ego and be reborn to a new level of experience" (155).
As previously discussed, the focus of this paper will be mindfulness meditation rather than concentration meditation which is what usually comes to mind when the word meditation is mentioned. While concentration meditation focuses on the attention of a single object, mantra, or deity, mindfulness meditation includes a more dynamic inclusive field of observation. It is inclusive of the depth that surrounds us rather than shutting the world out, which is more practical for the average participant in western society (Tacon, 2003 ). It was also suggested by Kabat-Zinn (1994) that mindfulness may be beneficial to many people in western society who might be unwilling to adopt Buddhist traditions or vocabulary. Thus, mindfulness meditation is considerably more appropriate for our society than discussing the full range of meditation techniques from eastern traditions, due to its simplicity, practicality and perceived detachment from eastern philosophies and religions.
Rather than try to choose one definition to describe what mindfulness meditation is, I will present a variety of views from those familiar with this specific practice in order to get the point across more succinctly. First of all, mindfulness meditation is more specifically called "insight meditation" in Buddhist traditions, or vipassanna which is sanskrit and means "to see clearly." Mindfulness meditation is a large part of Buddhism as well as Zen practice; however it can be successfully practiced detached from these traditions. As previously mentioned it is not necessary to be a practicing Buddhist to enjoy the fruits of mindfulness meditation (Levey & Levey, 1999). Levey and Levey (1999) describe mindfulness meditation in the following way: "mindfulness liberates us from memories of past and fantasies of future by bringing reality of the present moment clearly into focus" (89). They also state that "mindfulness makes us more aware of life's everyday miracles" (89).
Dunn, Hartigan, and Mikulas (1999) state that "mindfulness practice involves open receptivity and awareness to all stimuli, while evaluation, analysis or classification of those stimuli is suppressed" (p.148).
Ruth Baer states "mindfulness is the nonjudgmental observation of the ongoing streams of internal and external stimuli as they arise" (2003, p. 125).
Although each of these passages utilize different terminology to articulate what mindfulness meditation is; the overall consensus comes down to "being present in life." In my personal opinion, this may well be the secret that all human beings have been searching for outside of themselves. Being present in the moment is very simple, yet profound. Most people will likely say, "There has got to be more to living than this." Is there? Mindfulness meditation focuses on all areas of our being. Levey and Levey (1999) present a variety of these areas in their book, Simple Meditation and Relaxation. These elements of the human being include being mindful or aware of your sense without judgement, being aware of your emotions with acceptance, maintaining awareness of your thinking and allowing thoughts to flow by, just noticing. Another two vital areas include being aware of your breathing as well as what is going on with your body (pp. 95-97). What it comes down to is being aware of what is going on for you in each moment. To further articulate this I will provide various excerpts from a mindfulness meditation by Stephen Levine (1989).

My hope is that these excerpts further clarify mindfulness meditation to the reader. Levine is a master when it comes to simplicity in one's life as well as having the capacity to make meditation practical and efficient. Next, I would like to discuss a variety of interventions using mindfulness followed by research demonstrating the psychological, physiological, and spiritual benefits. Mindfulness meditation is truly a holistic application and this will be shown through the research findings discussed in this article.
Interventions
As previously discussed meditation has been around for thousands of years, however has only recently been integrated into psychotherapy in western society. The American Psychological Association, around 1977, suggested that "meditation could facilitate the therapeutic process" (Taskforce on Meditation, 1977, p. 3). Unfortunately, about 20 years later it still hasn't actually become mainstream. However, we must be fortunate that some progress is being made. At this time, I would like to discuss four current interventions that are using mindfulness meditation as part of the therapeutic process.
The first intervention is the integration of mindfulness meditation in the general psychotherapy process. La Torre (2001) discussed it as an effective component of psychotherapy and stated that as meditation brings awareness to feelings and discomforts in the therapeutic process, psychotherapy can provide discussion and exploration of these insights. She also expresses that the ability to practice meditation in and out of the therapeutic session fosters independence and self mastery on the client's part. La Torre (2001) concludes by stating, "That in most cases the incorporation of meditation into the therapeutic process has enriched therapy and given clients a greater sense of control and awareness" (p. 104).
In a separate case study by Boorstein (1983), he describes his integration of mindfulness meditation and bibliotherapy and its effectiveness with a depressed, agitated, and paranoid client. Boorstein integrated various readings with a transpersonal theme as well as mindfulness meditation in and out of session. Boorstein claims that the outcome was significant and included increased self-esteem, psychological and spiritual growth and relief of presenting symptoms. Boorstein conducted follow ups and stated that the positive outcomes were maintained and the client continued to focus on personal and spiritual growth in his life.
A second popular intervention and the most frequently cited method of mindfulness meditation intervention is the program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn called Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). MBCT is designed to teach skills for previously depressed individuals to observe their thoughts and feelings non-judgmentally and to see them as simply mental events that come and go rather than as reality or aspects of themselves (Baer, 2003). The final intervention that I will discuss that incorporates mindfulness meditation is a therapy termed Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). This specific therapy was designed to treat borderline personality disorder however it is currently being applied to a variety of different populations. DBT integrates mindfulness meditation training with cognitive behavioral skills in order to facilitate acceptance and change at the same time. Specific aspects of this intervention include emotional regulation, interpersonal skills, and distress tolerance skills (Baer, 2003). In my personal career I have had direct experience with this an addiction facility and found it to be quite effective. Residential clients embraced the mindfulness components in all aspects of their lives and appeared to truly benefit from practicing acceptance and non-judgment as part of their recovery. I genuinely hope that more interventions will become available and mindfulness meditation will eventually get the respect it deserves in the field of psychotherapy and life in general. Mindfulness meditation is a holistic tool for growth and self awareness. It benefits the mind, body, and soul as a whole, however for this papers purpose I will separate the components into the benefits related to psychological, philosophical, and spiritual elements of the human being. These will be based on the literature pertaining to mindfulness meditation specifically and what has been discussed in a variety of research studies.
Physiological Benefits
The literature discusses an immense amount of physiological benefits derived from mindfulness meditation. To list and discuss all of them is beyond the scope of this paper; however I will discuss some of the main physical benefits shown throughout the empirical literature. First, the physiological changes that have been noticed when practicing meditation such as decreased heart rate, breathing and the lowering of blood pressure has been termed the "relaxation response" by Benson (1975). These changes can of course be extremely beneficial to those individuals needing to escape the daily stress and chaos of society. However, the physiological benefits of mindfulness meditation transcend the momentary changes during the act of meditation. In Perez-De-Albeniz's (2000) 75 study Meta analysis he discussed a vast array of benefits that were found in his perusal of the available research. These included increase cardiac output, muscle relaxation, increased serotonin and melatonin levels, and significant improvement in chronic pain. In addition mindfulness meditation was found to be beneficial for psoriases, epilepsy, fibromyalgia, and hypertension. This brief summary obviously demonstrates that mindfulness meditation can be effective for the body component of a human being. Lets explore the other two elements that make up human beings.
Psychological
Numerous psychological benefits of mindfulness meditation are mentioned throughout the empirical literature. Again, this is not an exhaustive review of the literature, but a brief articulation of outcomes reported regarding the practice of mindfulness meditation. La Toree (2003) explains the benefits of mindfulness meditation in terms of its emotional benefits concerning self growth. Finally I think it is important to mention a study by Shapiro, Schwartz, and Bonner (1998) in which MBSR was offered to medical and pre medical students. The application involved a 7-week intervention with a wait list control. Obviously, there are many other spiritual benefits of meditation, including the obvious, Nirvana; however I merely supplied the reader with a summary. Perhaps, it may motivate some to enter this journey of awareness and explore the many additional gems along the path.
Personal Experience
Henry Miller said "the aim of life is to live, and to live means to be awake, joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely aware." This is what mindfulness meditation has brought to my life. By all means, do not think that I sit in meditation continuously and detach from the world. Mindfulness allows me to feel every moment of life within my entire being. It allows me to live life rather than just existing and the application of this practice throughout the past five years of my life has transformed who I am. I have tapped into my genuine being and united with the energy of the universe. Simply by cultivating awareness of the moment through mindfulness I have been able to transcend my ego and travel each day on the path of self-actualization. I have experienced the pure essence of mindfulness meditation. Each moment of my life allows continuous practice and application of this essential skill that genuinely gives life. Each human being on this earth has the innate ability to tap into the perfection and precision of mindfulness meditation. Go and experience the bliss that it offers.
Finally, throughout this paper I have discussed what mindfulness meditation is, provided a variety of description by the experts in this practice, and given the reader examples of the process of mindfulness meditation based on writings by Stephen Levine. It was concluded, that simply mindfulness meditation is being aware of life, which obviously can be practiced in any setting. Mindfulness mediation is extremely practical in the west and has been utilized in a variety of therapeutic interventions with much success. As the awakening process that humanity is presently experiencing moves inexorably forward, there is much occurring worldwide that is causing fear and alarm to escalate. Your awakening requires you to release your hold on outdated belief systems that no longer serve you – humanity – and the judgments that inevitably arise from them. Despite the fact that many do claim to be based on love of God, love of neighbor, and love of self, they often judge other beliefs that are not in agreement or alignment with their own to be wrong. Whether the belief system is political, philosophical, economical, or religious does not matter, what matters is that it is different and therefore must be wrong. Having made that judgment, then the members are often told or persuaded to go out and proselytize, and if that method of converting others to the correct belief system is ineffective, conflict often ensues.
All across the world many are realizing that negative judgment of others – that is of people, not of behaviors – only aggravates the major issues and problems that the human collective has to deal with and resolve at this time. Many of them have been unsettling and disturbing you for eons, but with the rise of modern technology, starting with the Industrial Revolution that commenced about two hundred and fifty years ago, humanity’s ability to harm itself and the planetary ecosystems that support you has increased exponentially, but without a similar and essential increase in the maturity and wisdom necessary to enable you to avoid catastrophic destruction on a vast scale.
What is happening now, largely due to the ease with which people all across the planet can communicate with each other and share ideas and information, is an enormously growing awareness that human and planetary well-being cannot be entrusted to an elite group of politicians and industrialists who are themselves controlled by a very small number of extremely powerful and influential people. People of high intelligence, who are extremely street-smart and amoral, and who have shut down or denied their knowledge of Reality, of their individual spiritual natures, as they seek ever more power in the material world, which is for them the only reality, and so they seek to own and control it.
This innate tendency toward such intense egotistical behavior has been an aspect of the human collective for eons, arising initially in infancy, as the infant learns that it is separate from its mother and struggles to control her in order to be constantly fed and comforted. This intense egotistical stage should be left behind as the infant grows into childhood and adolescence, but frequently the infant experiences abuse and trauma that effectively locks it at or very close to that stage of emotional and psychological development, so that as its strength and intelligence grow, instead of maturing into adulthood, it tends to remain egotistically driven, unless some kind of deeply moving emotional, psychological, or spiritual upheaval occurs, leading it to very seriously question its belief systems.
Right now, all across the world, people are being nudged to very seriously question their innate belief systems, as seemingly threatening situations and issues arise that they have to deal with, or as they find that their emotions suddenly appear to be controlling them. For many, who have spent their lives believing themselves to be their emotions, the growing realization that this is not so can be very disturbing, as they have relied on them all their lives for guidance to direct their thoughts, words, and actions, and now, suddenly, they become aware that they can control and direct their emotions. To have to take control and be fully responsible for their attitudes and behaviors can be quite terrifying, and so they may resist doing so very strongly. They will resort to telling themselves stories, while blocking from their conscious awareness any truths or facts that they dislike or fear, in order to continue as before.
But this no longer possible! Humanity has made the collective decision to awaken, and that decision is completely irreversible. So what is now occurring planet-wide is an unstoppable and growing awareness, arising in the consciousness of every human without exception, that to be human is but a temporary experience during which a person has forgotten or denied their true nature as spiritual beings. And it is awareness of their spiritual nature that is now arising. When that awareness is accepted and honored, then the pain and suffering induced by emotional turmoil, and which many have been experiencing for most of their lives, starts to diminish allowing peace and compassion to grow within them. As the understanding that there is no death dawns on them an overwhelming sense of relief replaces the fear and anxiety that they have been experiencing so regularly in their daily lives.
Those of you reading and/or listening to this are very definitely spiritually aware, and you chose to be precisely where you are at this time in order to greatly assist your brothers and sisters in this amazing and most wonderful awakening process. You know that you are awakening. Some of you are worried because it seems to you that your loved ones, families, or friends remain unaware. Let go of those worries because they often lead you to proselytize which can intensify the intention of those with whom you are engaging in such a fashion to remain in denial of their spiritual nature, if this is what they have been doing. The most effective way to assist others is to set the intent on waking in the morning to be only loving whatever arises, and then repeat that intent as often as you remember to during the day.
Remember in every moment – pin or stick reminders to the fridge and the bathroom mirror – that you are a spiritual being infinitely loved by God, who is having a temporary experience as a human in form. As you remember, then immediately engage in loving and forgiving thoughts directed to whoever you happen to be interacting with or to anyone who comes to mind. This is what you are here to do. Nothing more is demanded of you. However, if you feel intuitively – not egoically! – guided to say something in the moment, or to take some kind of action that it is within your power in the moment to do, then most definitely do so. Your support team is with you constantly, and whenever doubts or anxieties arise for you, they will nudge you or give you an indication of what is the best course of action, if any, in that moment.
You are never alone, to be alone is impossible. Know that you are lovingly watched over, embraced, and guided in every moment, so do not rely on your frightened ego for guidance or help. If words or actions that you could engage with come to mind that give you an uncomfortable gut feeling, then think again “is this for my highest good or for the highest good of the person of whom I am thinking or with whom I am interacting?” If the feeling of discomfort remains then you might well be best to let it rest. When words or actions feel good, gentle, and loving, then you are probably experiencing guidance from your higher Self or your support team. Learn to trust yourselves to be loving when you have set that intent, and refrain from judgment or criticism. You cannot know the mind or the motivation of another. So trust in Source, Love, Mother/Father/God, and remind yourselves that the divine Will is always achieved.

Super Full Moon in Leo~Open Our Lion’s Heart

Full moons are always energetically potent, powerful, creative and immensely magical times.This weekend’s moon is a Full Supermoon and the cosmic vibes emanating from it are believed to be multiple times more powerful than a regular full moon.
Lunar energy has a powerful influence on our lives and collective energy will be amplified and vibrating on a far higher level than normal. This means from February 8th-10th lunar energy will be super charged and at its most intense.
Cosmically, everything happens in sequences and we are currently in one of these sequences due to four Supermoons taking place in a row.
The first occurs on February 9th, the second on March 9, the third on April 8 and the final one, which completes this three-month Supermoon portal, takes place on May 7, 2020. (Exact date and time depends on location.)
When the Sun, Earth and Moon align they create a syzygy, which is a vortex of energy. A syzygy is when three celestial bodies configure in a straight line – also known as an energy portal.
Unlike regular Full Moons, in which the energy lasts for a few days, the supercharged, intense and life-altering energy of this Supermoon sequence will be felt consistently from now until the Supermoon in May.
Those who are highly sensitive to energy will have sensed a changes in the atmosphere since the end of January, when this highly charged energy started to build. To heighten things further we have now entered Mercury Retrograde’s shadow period, with the planet preparing its retrograde on February 17th.
Supermoon portals have their own unique theme to them. We will notice whatever we are currently going through, or trying to manifest in our lives, at the start of this Supermoon will complete or come to fruition by the middle of May – just after the final Supermoon of this series.
By the end of this period we will have gained heightened understanding of any personal struggles or painful dynamics we have experienced and we will notice major progress to any intentions we are setting now.
This Full Moon is in the sign of Leo and the celestial energy will be affecting all zodiac signs. However, anyone born with Leo in their chart will feel the impact more than others.
The majestic Leo Moon radiates a bright burning light of healing energy that illuminates any unresolved issues lingering from our past. We will feel called to dig under the surface and unearth any harmful emotional issues that have been triggering pain and causing us to react in ways that are harmful and destructive.
One of the main wounds that the Leo Moon opens is our fear that we are unworthy, unloved or inadequate.
The regal Leo has a great desire to feel secure, worshipped and cherished. Meta #5: A Comparison of Elizabeth’s Soul & Elle’s Heart
While watching the film, we see many instances of the importance of both the heart and the soul, especially in relation to magic. Elizabeth is trapped by her soul, while Elle’s heart is ultimately what sets her free. And one may argue that because of this, Elle’s heart is stronger than Elizabeth’s soul.
But I don’t think that this is the case. Remember, Elizabeth has been with Locke for “a long time”, which I play as being a century, but could be even longer than that. And from the first day of her captivity, Locke has been siphoning her power from her soul, thus making Elizabeth weaker and weaker until she has to rely on humans to gain her freedom.
Don’t forget, Elizabeth is a full-blooded mermaid. She was born in the sea, and is the daughter of a sea king and the descendant of sea gods. By all rights, she should be far stronger than Thora or Elle. Her only rival should be Locke. Elle, on the other hand, is a human. But she only has the heart of a mermaid. Which makes her significantly stronger than Thora because she has a source of power that is greater than a human. Locke, on the other hand, I don’t see as being human. At least, not anymore, if he ever truly was. When we see him in the prologue, he’s more demonic or dementor like than a person. And I fully believe that the form we see during the film is one he uses to walk amongst people. And it’s possible that Elizabeth and maybe Thora are the only ones to see what his true form is. And I can see his true form being even worse than the terrible cloaked figure from the prologue.
Still, that leaves us with the question, when it comes to magic and spirit, which would be stronger? The heart or the soul? Trying to find this was actually harder than I thought it would be. While I don’t feel satisfied fully with the information I was able to find, I will try to apply it in a way that will at least attempt to answer the way I had wanted to originally.
When we look at the soul and the heart side by side, we can draw some distinct differences. For example, the soul is considered to be divine, while the heart is of the body and expresses the body’s wants and needs. The heart is linked to the material aspects of life, while the soul corresponds to the spiritual. The soul gives life and consciousness to our bodies, but the heart does not. This is because the heart is a part of the body and dies when the body does, but the soul is everlasting and eternal. We can see that in order for life to exist, a balance of both heart and soul are needed, but the soul remains distinct and separate even with that knowledge.
Balance is not just crucial for life to be created, but harmony between heart and soul is also required for happiness and wellness. We’ve all felt off balance, ill, or at odds with the world when stress becomes too much to bear, and this only goes to show the vitality of keeping heart and soul at peace. As a part of the body, the heart is responsible for telling us what we need, what we may not like, and what problems we are facing. This is done through the senses we have and use every day. The heart is also linked to our inner mind and reflects what occurs there. Perhaps most importantly, the heart is meant to serve the soul, and without the heart, our bodies are useless.
But on the other side of the coin, the soul is the center of our being. Like Elizabeth, we cannot find true happiness when our souls are being smothered. Our souls are said to be linked to our inner consciousness, where happiness is found both within and without.
We all possess an intricate and important balance of soul, mind, and body when we try to find and do what makes us happy, and being aware of this fact is crucial. Knowing of this link and addressing it allows us to be self-aware, find purpose, heighten our consciousness, let go of fears of the unknown, and form deeper connections with whatever higher powers we might believe in.
With this in mind, we can now look deeper into the heart and the soul on individual levels, and determine the roles that they both play in magic. First, the heart.
As we might suspect, gratitude is perhaps one of the key parts of magic related to the heart. It’s been noted that when we feel more gratitude in our hearts, we have more things to be grateful for in our lives. There has, according to the source, even been scientific notes of this. These notes tell us that when we focus on or pay special attention to the heart when we feel gratitude for something, our heart rhythms turn more harmonious and balanced instantly, which leads to better health and immune function overall. This, in turn, increases both the depths of our feelings and the benefits or rewards we see from that. Though we may consider this to be some kind of magical thinking, or expect some surge of power, it really comes down to simple things like tingling sensations in the heart, times of joy, happy tears, or even goosebumps. It has also been stated that by focusing more on gratitude allows an increase of peace and contentment in our daily lives.
Though gratitude may be the most important part of heart magic, there are also several other areas that are crucial to consider. These include compassion, dignity, equanimity, forgiveness, humility, integrity, justice, kindness, and love. In this area of magic, these areas would call for openness to both oneself and others, recognizing that every living thing has and deserves dignity, admitting that life has ups and downs but trying to find balance anyway, offering forgiveness, being grateful for what we have, knowing that there is no such thing as ‘being better than others’, living and honesty life with integrity, looking after and standing up for those who may be vulnerable or weaker, being kind, keeping the heart open, and being free with the love that we hold.
We all know that religions across the world focus on the soul and the crucial link that the heart has to it. For example, in the Qur’an, we see a quote that reads “There is in the body a chunk of flesh- if it becomes good, the whole body becomes good and if it becomes bad, the whole body becomes bad. And indeed it is the heart”. Rather like the Ancient Egyptians, followers of Islam believe that they will be judged for the lives they lived and the things they did by the condition of the heart. I found it interesting while reading this article that even good deeds can be considered bad or sinful if they were done for a selfish reason. And while this should seem common sense, it seems to be something that not many focus on anymore. In short, no amount of time spent bettering and softening the heart is wasted, as it makes us more merciful.
From reading this article, we see just how important the heart and true selflessness are to Islam. Corruption in the heart turns knowledge hard, and a lack of mercy in one’s life leads to distress and discomfort. It’s clear that a hard heart is considered a curse, while a soft one is a blessing.
What it ultimately comes down to is the heart determines the fate of the soul.
The soul, however, seems to be a little more complex than we might think. But a simple way to think of it is like attracts like. No matter what we do in our lives, the soul is what leads us. All of our thoughts and actions may be given life by way of our creativity, but that creativity comes from the soul, thus making us who we are. No one can deny how much faster and easier tasks are when we feel invested in them and enjoy doing them. We find ourselves enjoying actually doing the work, and feeling more satisfied with the final outcomes of them. This is because our souls are in tune with the task. But when we allow fear and feelings of insecurity or inadequacy to grip us, our enjoyment and fulfillment are severely limited. Sometimes, the road to getting back to harmony and attunement can be as simple as trying different approaches to the task, or working on adjusting our energy and balance.
Of course, for many of us, this is far from an easy task. And often, our own worst enemies are ourselves. Our words and thoughts may be influenced by the energies and environments around us, but we have the final say in the direction our energy and efforts take. But if we allow the negative to hold us back and drag us down, it will lead to further imbalances. What we go through in life shapes us, and there is no denying that. But the final say of who we are, the paths we take, and the successes we have are in our hands. We have to choose the paths we walk in life, and though conflict may influence parts of it, we have to keep choosing to move forward so that our souls can reach their highest potential.
It is also worth noting the role that connections to not only the heart, but other souls can play. At one time or another, we have all felt a connection to someone else. Whether it be bonding right away with the person who becomes our best friend, or meeting a future lover for the first time and feeling like we’ve known them all of our lives, our souls seek out connections to help us thrive. But not all of these connections can be good, especially when we consider magically. While this website is most likely for fictional work, I found the article in question to be a good way to explain the connection and bond between Locke and Elizabeth.
One key factor comes down to the souls in question. This is because connecting your soul to someone else’s can influence them both. It would be even more drastic if one soul is stronger and more powerful than the other. Any form of connection like this would require a strong will and sense of self in order to avoid manipulation of your soul.
Though this manipulation may change something within the soul, but it does not change the essence of the soul itself. This was rather nicely explained in the article with the example of the mage and the fire, where a spiritually strong mage may be able to slow the fire’s progress, the fire itself is not changed and can still turn to an inferno. This means that the soul of the manipulator, or stronger force can also become endangered as well.
A person is simply not meant to better themselves by means of stealing what is good in others. It is essentially lying to ourselves and everyone around us. While we can look to others for inspiration to find our best selves, we cannot find that self by pretending to be something we are not. When we are not sure of who we are, and try to fill ourselves up with the identities of those around us, we lose even more of ourselves. This may also be influenced by our morals and what we value in our lives.
If we do consider that a stronger soul is able to absorb and influence a weaker one, then that would in turn cause the stronger soul to be even harder to influence when someone else comes along. We can argue this because that stronger soul would have bits and pieces of all the weaker souls it absorbed and melded itself with. If someone down the line would want to try and influence the greater soul, it would first need to change and influence all those smaller pieces of weaker souls, and then focus on the larger one.
This would then, logically, cause the energy and essence of the weaker soul to be lost, potentially forever. This could become permanent if the lesser soul is not able to return to its original and rightful body. Thusly, the number of people within the connection and the size of the more powerful soul will factor into the rate of loss and how permanent it may be.
Another factor would be how deep the connection between the two souls goes. A lighter more superficial connection could actually be beneficial to one or both parties, but a deeper one can harm. Whether the weaker soul is aware of the connection is also important, as the odds of returning to its body are more likely when it is aware of where it is, naturally, meaning that those chances drop for those who are unaware. It is also critical whether the stronger soul is “good” or “evil”, because this will determine of restoring the weaker soul is even possible in the first place.
Of course, we do have to point out that change in our lives is not bad in and of itself, because change is the pivotal factor in growth. And without change, growth would not exist. What we do need to look out for, and guard ourselves against, is the dangerous loss of control. This loss of power is what forces the lesser soul to bond to and be absorbed by the stronger one, the impacts of which, as we’ve seen, can be disastrous. While everyone wants to be accepted, we need to remember that being our individual selves is what allows us to think outside the box, resist pressure from others, lead well, be happy, and even inspire others. When we connect souls, we take on the qualities of the other, and thus lower our own individuality.
As we can see, these factors for both heart and soul play greatly into the story and the fates of Elizabeth, Elle, and even Locke.
Elle, though she was suffering greatly from the loss of her parents and feeling desperate and depressed because of her illness and Cam’s overprotectiveness, carried many of the qualities of heart related magic. She was grateful for what she had, and shared that grace and charm with others. And because of that, she was able to maintain her happy and optimistic nature despite her battles. She very much embodied compassion, dignity, equanimity, forgiveness, gratitude, humility, integrity, justice, kindness, and love. She is the very definition of a merciful and soft heart. And though her soul is still that of a human, we can see that her mermaid’s heart is exceptionally strong even when she hesitates and almost seems to consider Locke’s offer. This strength is what proved to be the wizard’s undoing. Because her heart is magical and her soul is not, we do find ourselves in a bit of a catch 22, since all evidence seems to point to the soul being the stronger of the two despite the heart’s great influence. However, I would argue that because of her heart, Elle already had a stronger soul than most people. It may not have been on par with Elizabeth’s at her strongest, but it was significantly stronger than Cam’s or maybe Thora’s. And while I can see her potentially having displays of her magic throughout her life, I think it would be fair to say that Elle never reached her full potential until the battle with Locke. And from then on, her heart- which was stronger than her soul previously- only grew more powerful, and that perhaps allowed her soul to catch up to some degree. Bonding with Elizabeth and Thora however briefly that night likely opened just the right door that Elle needed to find her height of power.
Elizabeth, on the other hand, was not sure of who she was. She wanted to be something she wasn’t, and longed to be someone that would mean something to others; which she felt she did not as a mermaid. This made her soul vulnerable to Locke’s manipulation. While she too is optimistic, we do see periods of when she gives in to despair and thinks that there is no escape for her. During her century of captivity, Locke not only absorbed her powers to strengthen himself, but I feel he unwittingly was absorbing her soul and who she is, leaving her feeling more and more lost, and making that optimism and faith harder to hold on to. The fact that she did cling to it at all, and that her soul worked and fought so hard to ensure it could return to her is huge. Locke’s powers and soul are so immense that he rendered her basically almost weaker than a human. By all rights, she should have never gotten her soul, her self, back at all. Even if Cam did manage to find and take the vial back. But she did. And that is not only impressive, but extremely moving.
Both girls have good hearts and souls, and both are without a doubt strong in their own ways. Magically speaking, I would say that Elizabeth is stronger, just because she is a full mermaid. She has the heart, soul, and powers of her people, and her ancestors on her side. Elle is still mostly human, and though her magic is without a doubt great, she would hold no candle to Elizabeth at her full power. But to speak on a level of individual strength, I would say that Elle is the stronger one. After all, it was the addition of her powers to Elizabeth and Thora’s that allowed Locke’s to be stripped from him, turn him to stone, and truly free Elizabeth. This can be because Elle’s sense of who she is, her assurance, and her inner balance may be stronger than Elizabeth’s was when she was young. Elizabeth wanted to be something else, but Elle was sure of who she was and what she believed, and nothing anyone could say would change that. Not even her uncle’s skepticism and trying to convince her she was falling for lies and only saw fairy tales. Elle’s assurance at her young age is astonishing just as much as Elizabeth’s endurance.
But the bond the girls share together is clearly one of mutual benefit, as they give each other strength, hope, and the power to be better than they ever dreamed they could be. By fighting so hard to protect Elle, Elizabeth was able to find her own strength and finally accept who she was. And by her unerring faith in Elizabeth’s truth and her selfless determination to return her to the ocean, Elle was able to finally find acceptance and courage to be all she dreamt of. Even if they never saw each other again after that day on the beach, Elle and Elizabeth would be bonded for life in the best possible way.
I would consider their hearts and souls at the end of the movie as equal in strength, where Elle’s heart may have been stronger before Locke’s defeat. And it is possible that because of her heart, Elle’s soul may have even been stronger than Locke’s since she was able to defeat him. And it is the strength and goodness of Elle’s soul that allows Elizabeth’s to continue to fight and finally break free of Locke’s unrelenting grip on it. Elle’s influence in the early movie ended up being what saved Elizabeth, where at the end Elizabeth paid it back by saving Elle and turning their bond to one that has no possible way of harming either of them, as they are now even stronger kindred spirits than they were when they first met.

"Self-Growth" Series Chapter 1
I felt inspired to start up this “Self-Growth” Series that is intended to bring powerful insights and clarity on the topic of “Can we truly live the Life of Our Dreams?”
And I am here to tell you that yes, we can and I will share through this collection of lessons how and what I did to reach a state of overall Peace and Lightness in my own Life. My intention is to use personal approach around Self Health & Empowerment with the desire to uplift and delight those finding themselves on this beautiful yet complex “roadtrip” towards A Liberated Life ~ The Good Life ~ . Or maybe you are just reading this type of information for the first time and makes you wonder what is this all about. I am sure you will find stuff here that will make you stop a bit and reflect on what is to life that we are not taught to see and that if you open up to this perspective, you are up to a magical journey. And this should be a fun conversation topic nonetheless.:)
I have been feeling in such flow with my creativity lately and I am very excited to share this with you out there and it may or may not resonate with everybody stopping by, but if there is one person who feels better after being here then my work has reached its purpose, truly.
I will be talking about some of the most “difficult” yet enriching lessons I learned so far and be assured I am learning them again myself while getting these materials together meaning I will be taking on the role of a teacher who is a student at the same time and hopefully we will together create a space where we mingle with one another beyond time and space dimensions. “Pain is a Gift in Disguise”
CHAPTER 1. I consciously started to dig deeper into knowing myself in all possible ways after a life changing experience that took place about 3 years ago. I believe most of us will get into the journey of Self-Discovery when we get most triggered by a circumstance or event taking place in our lives and that usually brings some powerful experiences on a practical and emotional level. Throughout this time of fast paced learning, I found that one of the most sensitive and “stubborn” facades of SELF-GROWTH is “Learning How to cope with Pain and Understanding the reason of it”. What do you do when it hurts and you feel like there is no way out?
In my experience, I haven’t felt more at ease than when I learned how to deal with the painful times. It didn’t happen overnight. It took perseverance with clearing layers of limitations and negative thinking. It was one of the most challenging lessons I dealt with and I know for a fact that Pain is the catalyst of all of our choices.
On your way to liberating yourself from these limiting thought patterns, you will experience suffering before you reach freedom. There is so much we have been carrying on from birth and passed on from generation to generation that adventuring to clear away what doesn’t serve us will, of course, bring stuff up that will make us feel uncomfortable. However, the understanding of this as being a part of a natural cycle of Self Liberation will bring us to a place where we are able to use the seeming discomfort as a Creative/Healing Force in our day to day life experience. This is, in my opinion, one of the most important stages of one’s evolution as The Master of His Own Life and accepting this, moves one up on a life experience that we could only dared to dream of. Truly.
Pain as I see it, is a state of feeling trapped in a situation or circumstance that did not or does not walk on our ideal, preferred path.
The Power of our Lives comes from the most painful experiences we will ever face. FOR REAL. So yes, pain is necessary. It is there to show us something and we naturally avoid it because it doesn’t feel good AT ALL, but on our way to the Good Life, there is a journey to be taken that means highs and lows that are there to charge us to our fairy-tale destination ~ The Liberated Self!~
What is the Good Life though? It is a life lived in physical and emotional balance, with harmonious and expanding relationships, with passion(s) that eventually bring our financial security and a wide-open door to creativity and exploration of Self.
Yet, no mindful being I know or heard of has reached a state of peace and mastery without going through hardships, going through what you may see as “deep, unbearable and painful life situations”. For me as well, the most enriching moments came after coping with pain and “ I-can’t-do-this-right-now” feelings.
We cannot possibly meet our Good Life unless we rise again and again from the muddy waters of emotional and physical pain. We are beings of contrasts. The beautiful is realized after the ugly first arises. The suffering fades more and more once it is accepted as part of the journey, as divinely guided experience and as a phase that will pass and that is there to guide us towards the calm waters. It is a fact that The most Self Strength we create is when we are rising up from grief and suffering. Think about it!
I was blessed, to say the least, to have crossed paths with an experience that would make you believe in fairy tales. It is true, fairytalesarereal, but they come in pieces. In between these pieces is Self Work and is not all flowers and butterflies, yet once you commit to have the experience of a life lived mindfully, you will reach the fairytale-like state. You get bits of your dream life but in between these bits, you have choices to make and most of the time these choices come with facing shadow fears, limiting beliefs, tests of faith and loads of extreme emotions that before you had no clue they even exist but to get to experience them. So, it is a lot to go through and not easy but it is a life changing experience once we come to the understanding that these “inner shadows” are there to create the pain so we are pushed to release and free ourselves from those emotions that are causing the suffering.
The inner shadows are indeed the CAUSE OF OUR SUFFERING.
What I mean by inner shadows? All those unsettling emotions (grief, anxiety, resistance, stress, impatience, self-avoidance, fears of the unknown etc.) that direct us towards our outer circumstances and give birth to and raise the behavior of “poor me, why is this happening to me?”. We all have this at some point. It is a way of avoiding going inwards and instead focusing on what is happening out there. Doing the inner shadow work is truly the most painful yet most REWARDING thing you will ever do to yourself. Once you think you got yourself all figured out, some other shadow work comes in play and you start another cycle, each time shedding another layer and another layer yet the deeper you go the more you learn, and you get to meet yourself and those around you at the most deeper levels. This is truly MAGICAL. The blissful liberation you feel when you can see beyond any outer circumstances is truly one SOLID reason Why The Pain that arises along the way is a BLESSING. It is there so you have no choice but to free yourself more and more and to reach a higher level of life experience with each time you rise up and feel strong and happy again.
Every time you feel pain, you are in fact rising and you are moving TRULY closer to the magnificent Self that you are and the beauty of life that is there for you. The Good Life. The Life of Your Dreams.
To learn how to be one with the pain is in fact a solid commitment to Self Liberation. Is it worth it? YES YES YES. What waits for you at the end of each “inner shadow release” aka the painful emotions is a wise, brighter, balanced, harmonious Self. THE REAL YOU.
Honestly, I wish this would come all at once and we could deal with it all for as long as needed and then live freely and harmoniously ever after, but realistically is not like that. It comes and goes and comes and goes so you dig deeper into yourself and truly master your way of living, with easy and uneasy times. It is for you to reflect back on yourself and move yourself even closer to a peaceful state with self and with your life (~ That if you truly want to live genuinely happy~)
It is, I believe, an endless experience that comes in different forms. And yes, it is possible to live free of suffering, but I don’t believe it can be maintained on a 100% level in every moment. What changes is the way we deal with these times; how we navigate them, that will create the experience of a harmonious life. I strongly believe that without hardship we will forget to keep learning, we will get stagnant in our growth and more so, we will stop exploring and stop going deeper and deeper into knowing ourselves. Pain pushes us to GROW and to be consciously grateful for the good times. Yes, pain is part of the Liberated Life. What you learn through practice is how you perceive hardship when it comes across.
Continuous gratefulness and appreciation for where we are at each moment and what we have creates a beam of wholeness that brings clarity on what is there to learn with each moment we feel discomfort and also what it is that we are receiving through the “fairy-tale” moments.
Recently, I made the steps and chose to walk the uncomfortable path out of a situation. Even though I could feel that was certainly the path that truly wanted to unfold further for me, I was so resistant to it because of the blindness to what could come next. “What could possibly be there waiting to meet me that feels better than this?”, I wondered. So much excitement yet the nights were long for some time. It required a Maturity I didn’t know myself I am capable of. I made a conscious decision to choose solely on intuitive guidance even though that implied stepping on one of my deepest-rooted fears. I wasn’t even aware of it until I took the leap into what felt uncomfortable at first. I was shown again that I haven’t quite fully released the need of control of what needs to stay and what needs to go. I met the lesson again.
This is one more thing for you to consider: If we don’t deal with the lesson entirely at time of arrival, we will be faced with it again and again. It is no other way around and that is perfectly fine. Sometimes we are meant to and it is actually healthier to fully integrate a lesson in layers and at different times. We are always presented what we are ready for. This is what shedding layers is about. After clearing something, a new blockage may arise and you may clear that as well and this is how you create consistency and flow in how you deal with those tough times. You are taught how to not let the bumps on the road shake you so hardly every time you cross over.
I personally faced this last bit of bumpy road and certainly one of the biggest steps towards liberation that I made so far was done through walking over it. Guess what? It implied PAIN. A pain that was milder due to all the clearing I’ve done before, but it was an important one and it meant a significant push forward in my life. My creativity fired up and I finally got this writing flowing after delaying the call for looong time. I am soon moving on a different continent that has been my dream since childhood with a dream job lined up ( uber excited already). I am living a dream as we speak: I have been in SE Asia for over 8 months now and I finally feel completely adapted here where I find myself at the moment, in a remote town South of Bangkok, Thailand. All this while I am getting to make an impact in some of the kids’ life here in town whom I am teaching about “The Happy Life” while improving their English language abilities. These are just a few of the awesome gifts received after making the uncomfortable choice and many other new and enriching experiences still waiting to unfold surely.
All in all, here is a practical exercise on How To Navigate the Painful Times that made a difference in my learning practices:
Take your situation and point these steps:
1) The Acknowledgement
2) The Acceptance
3) The Wake-Up Call
1) The Acknowledgement happens when we become aware of our unease. It is the moment when we sit down with ourselves and reflect over what is going on inwards and we become aware of our overall unease and imbalance. This is the time when we stop avoiding what is happening and see it for what it actually is.
2) The Acceptance. This is a big step in learning how to cope with pain. HUGE one. After becoming aware of the situation, there is a choice point: “Do I battle what is happening?” or “Do I accept I cannot change what is?” The truth is you can not change what is, you can only have impact on what it will be in the next moment and the next moment after that. At this stage, you pretty much face the choice of Growth Or Stagnation and it may take a while to process this. It gets easier with practice, but try to not beat yourself up if you are still at this phase for longer than you may like. It is all learning and time is your friend. It does hold your hand through everything you need to do, in the best way possible for you. Have patience!
3) Depends on what choice you make on Step 2, you may reach this step: The Wake-Up Call. It is the realization that you do have an impact on everything that you experience, and you do have the power to change what are you going to experience further. What is now, charges what comes next. You now understand that you can’t flip the past over, but it too was a present at some point and it created what is now. So, you Wake Up to the understanding that the suffering you feel now is a fuel to what comes next. What do you want to create next? How Do you want to live your next moments? It is now when you, with practice, start finding fuel of energy from this unease into more easy flawless choices.
Something for you to reflect on when you feel trapped like nothing is as you wish it to be:
“Behind the closed doors, there is a treasure hiding.”
Use it as a mantra to remind you that good things are coming, and you are where you are supposed to be.
If you want the treasure, then have the courage to take steps towards the unknown. Take the leap and make that move, quit that job, end that relationship, buy that ticket, follow your gut instinct. If it is painful and scary then something big WAITS ahead for you, FOR SURE. How long it takes to receive it depends on how long you will fight the inevitable.
“Pain is truly a gift in disguise.” Think of any hardship you’ve experienced so far in your life, you still got up and moved on and you are here now reading about Self Growth interested in knowing more about thyself. Clearly there is at least one gift that painful experience offered you.
Finally, please remember this: The only way out is through. Once you see the light again, you will understand that the dark was there for you, to make you stronger, wiser and happier. Always in All Ways.
