Nozel or Fuegoleon?

You know you could've just given me multiple questions in a single message. But I won't question the methods to your madness. I'll just answer. 😆

I choose Nozel. Because the fandom, as far as I can tell, loves Fuegoleon a lot more. Not saying it's not deserved. It's very deserved! But somebody needs to love Nozel.

Nozel is rude and judgmental. There is no avoiding that. But he's also set high standards for himself to up keep. He's the eldest of his family, a royal, and a captain. He's got a lot at stake. And I think it's quite amazing of Nozel to do all that he can in service of that which he values. He could be a lot more polite in how he interacts with others. He could also be a lot more upfront with his concern for Noelle and should've found another way to protect her rather than put her down. But he's a loveably stupid and flawed man.

Nozel and Nacht are somewhat similar in that they're both very flawed people who really do care but suck so much at showing that they care. So I like Nozel more than Fuegoleon.

First off, Connie wearing vertical stripes is funny to me. It's not on the profile here but I'm pretty sure you've mentioned that Connie is a shorty. And don't vertical stripes give the illusion of height? Is she trying to look taller? Is that what's going on with her fashion choices?

I'm thinking of Connie as a rubber ball and flashing back to my middle school days where kids would throw this little balls at the walls with such ferocity. You could hear the impact from across the schoolyard sometimes. 🤣 That's Connie right there!

Okay okay. She's got a legit reason for joining the Mantises. Admiration of the captain. And the vice captain. She's the squad's little sister who always needs someone watching her back. Not because she's weak and helpless! Oh no, if they keep up with Luck then she can't be weak. But because the squad doesn't want to lose her. (Guys, she's an adult, she'll find her way back on her own./lh)

Comparing Connie to your other ocs, Camy, Connie has one of the "softer" attributes. Odette, Bianca, and Eirwen have ironsand and ice magic and iron and ice have a sort of tough quality to them. Jessamy's Candle Magic, centered on aromas rather than the actual flame component, is probably the softest of the attributes. Rubber can be flexible but firm rubber hammers also exist so it's not a weak substance.

I know you've talked about her some in discord chats and I hope you continue having fun with this new oc.

Connie is a commoner born with a lot of energy. She loves to laugh and play physical games. It made sense that she manifested rubber magic because her parents would describe her as a child that bounced off the walls. Her parents were too burnt out to entertain Connie's constant need to play.

One day it reached a breaking point and her parents blew up at her, saying hurtful things. They called her annoying and wished she was born a normal girl. Connie ran away from home and broke down crying in the woods. Her cries drew the attention of a massive wild beast. She used her rubber magic to defend herself but was running low on mana. Before it could harm her, it was sliced up by Captain Jack. Jack was out hunting and thanked her for crying so loud so it was easier to track down his game. His Vice Captain Amiris wasn't too far behind him trying to get him to come back to work. Amiris was attentive to Connie and gave her the reassurance she needed to go back home. Connie apologized to her parents for running away and decided to focus her playful energy on training her magic. The same year she was awarded a grimoire was the same year she went for the Magic Knights Exam. She passed and chose the Green Mantises because she was starstruck by Captain Jack. Connie deeply admires Vice Captain Amiris who she refers to as "senpai" when not in a formal setting. Amiris and her older squadmate En treat her as if she were their younger sister and soothe her whenever she gets too overzealous. She spent a lot of time tormenting Sekke before he became the king's assistant. During the Royal Knight exam, she set her eyes on Luck Voltia as a new playmate. They hit it off and eventually realized they were more than friends.

A Little Extra

Loryn Huntzberger has always had a complicated relationship with her family. Namely, her father. She has never wanted anything from him but that hasn't stopped Lawrence Huntzberger from trying. For the most part, Loryn tried to keep to herself. Spending hours poured over books, Loryn focused on her studies and learning everything she could. Later, she would focus on video game design. A self-professed nerd (queen of the nerds, actually!), Loryn is endlessly passionate. When she was in high school, she started building her online following as a streamer and cosplayer. From then, her notoriety has only grown. Unlike her father and brother, Loryn is kind. She can be sweet, welcoming and tries to do the right thing. That doesn't mean she can't manipulate when the occasion calls for it. She can be scathing, she can root out a weakness. She can act like a 'Huntzberger'. When Loryn went to college, she was so happy to be free. When her dad came to her with an offer though, she found that she couldn't refuse. No, she didn't want to refuse. He'd bought over a video game company (they were about to go bust) and needed her to run the place, full-time once she'd graduated and part-time for now. It wasn't the first time Lawrence had tried to buy her affection and it wouldn't be the last. A deal is a deal though and she knows when to take a (questionably) good one.

fear: What is your OC's greatest fear? What do they do when confronted with it? Are they open with their fear, or do they hide it away?

Cliche as it is, her greatest fear still is and will always be a loss of control.

No matter how benevolent a silver wyrm would be or could be, I do not believe for a second that they are still in touch with mortal beings in any way that matters. So even in the best effort to try and help its progeny would still be beyond what mortals could handle. The idea that Synne was essentially so overwhelmed it caused her to transform beyond her control was terrifying in the moment and had it also not been by the guidance of her ancestor, either Ansur or her ancestor would have tore her asunder with their magic.

It was always the risk with being a sorcerer, and moreso a sorcerer of such a powerful and chaotic bloodline. The cost of failure is not only losing face, as I think many wrongly assume of her, it's dying a death so cold it would burn her away.

But it's not as though she shows it. The first thing she learned was how to mask how hard she worked for the power she has now.

guilt: What is your OC guilty about? How do they handle their guilt? Do they try to avoid guilt, or do they accept it?

I don't think she feels guilty of much for very long. I think after the fighting is over, Baldurs Gate is saved, the Netherbrain defeated (and we'll see what happens with the Crown of Karsus...) I think she is worried about what she leaves behind in Evereska.

Her life was planned out for her and a part of her was satisfied with that. But now? All of those plans are gone, decades upon decades in the making, up in smoke and all for the "selfish" reason of having autonomy over herself and her life.

But that lingering guilt doesn't last for long, not in the face of her new life and new responsibilities post-Baldur's Gate

mask: Does your OC wear a mask, literally or figuratively? What goes on beneath it? Is there anyone in their life who gets to see who they are under the mask?

Her whole "Ice queen" persona was largely a mask. Or at least a performance of it was. After all it was more than just an act, it was a goal, it was a state of being she always worked towards. She needed to fake the ease that she needed in order to earn the right to her station.

Because it wasn't enough to survive her power awakening, it wasn't enough to wield it without freezing from the inside out, she had to do it with proficiency, she had to do it with grace, and she had to appear as if she was a natural to it. It was hard work and sacrifice but none of it looked like it affected her, it couldn't in order for her to become who she thought she wanted to be.

So she didn't let it. She let herself be an "ice queen." Until she didn't.

Camy "Rosa" Rose

midnight: What keeps your OC up at night? Do they have nightmares? Fears? Anxieties? What do they do in the small hours of the morning when they should be sleeping?

The fear and worry lessened when Orion took most of the business decisions off her shoulders and began managing that aspect of the band. She has a lot less anxiety since that happened as well, having only one set of bills and contracts is enough for her, thank you very much (but at least Chaos Anthem doesn't have to deal with a shitty landlord.)

Most of the time she's all right, but in order to get into the zone to write she needs to turn inwards and allow herself to realize all of the lingering fear and nerves she holds underneath her confidence. It's those times she tries to come to terms with all but her biggest problems, the problems she doesn't dare touch, the problems she can't touch. She tries to write those vulnerabilities into lyrics late at night -- imagining, humming, singing, playing her guitars, laying in random places in her apartment trying to get new perspectives on her thoughts.

It can last all night, call it a bad habit she couldn't shake. But a lot of times she can get something out, maybe write out some other thoughts for context to get back into the mood without the need to dig down deep again, and then go back to sleep without dreams or nightmares.

She doesn't have nightmares anymore. And she always regrets the days she stayed up all night deep in her feelings, lyrics, and music the next morning. Mostly because of the lack of sleep. Mostly.

Oh I forgot two very important theories!

I think Cami will fall in love with Régine, I mean you said somewhere that Cami used to have a crush on Theia and in Kincaid' chapter there was this :

“She likes sewing,” he said, now looking happy for some reason. “Régine loves making dresses. We live in Paris, you know. She is learning.”Kincaid wondered if Régine knew of Theia. Theia was always wearing the prettiest dresses everywhere. So I don't know it could be them, I kinda like the though of them together. It would also mean that Madeleine and David will become something like in laws which I find hilarious along with them becoming in laws with the Knighstorms, I love how the new generation said "Fuck rivalries-or fuch the children of your parents rivals". Seriously, good for them -or not? We'll wait and see.

2. I had a feeling that came back very strongly after Lexi's chapter that Madeleine is David's dark mirror. Here me out. She is someone with a lot of responsibilities and mostly as Lexi said, someone who takes care of other people a lot- just like David. Now, when you said the Devlins were the Lightwood-Banes dark mirrors you said it's because they could have turned into the Devlins if something important in their lives had gone different. For example, Max could have become Mallory if his parents had loved Rafael more than him like a Mallory-Marcus situation. Now, what if Madeleine is what would have happened to David if Max had died. Would he have stopped being kind and good? Would he perhaps blame the person responsible wether they were actually responsible or not? (Kinda like Lance with Madeleine). I find that very hard to believe because, for instance in IALS David did loose Max. But not in a pernament way. What if he had? What if after Mallory had shot Max, they couldn't save him? What if he had died that day? Would David be that indifferent towards her? Would he manage to hate her? Is that how Madeleine feels towards Lance? Hate? Wow too many questions.

Okay okay I'll stop now. A gift for you -and David- to help your recovery.

The way you kissed him goodbye this morning was weighing heavily on his mind. He was so in tune with you that it was easy for him to decipher how you felt. Depending on the kiss he got, he could determine if you were happy, feeling flirtatious, sad, angry, or even annoyed. This morning’s kiss was a detached one that left the taste of melancholy on his lips. He’d wanted to pull you back to him and badger you until you told him what was wrong, but time was once again against him.

 Four hours into this shoot, and he was still at it. He’d never had more than fifteen minutes to himself, and even then, he was still working. Either it was doing small interviews and web appearances, or it was answering emails. He always tried to find a balance in his life. A balance to give you the attention you deserved, but the last few months had been difficult because his name was coming up more and more for potential roles, which meant many more meetings.

 Finally, with some time for himself, he dialed you. After three rings, you picked up.

 “Hi babe,” you said, your voice low and dejected.

 “Hi, princess. How are you?”

“Eh--,” you began on a sigh. “I’m okay. I’m just sitting on the balcony with Bear.”

 “Is she keep you good company until daddy comes home?”

 “Yeah, she’s always so sweet to me.”

 Even your voice now didn’t sound like your usual self. He could feel something was off.

 “What’s wrong, princess?”

 Again, you sighed, but you didn’t speak right away. Instead of speaking, he patiently waited for you to be ready to talk about it. He knew better than to force you to open up. You’d do it in your own time. After almost a minute, you spoke.

 “It’s just one of those days, I guess.”

 “Yeah? Tell me about it,” he coaxed on.

 “I just feel at a crossroads, I guess. I don’t know how to explain it. I feel all over the place, but like I’m standing still. I don’t even know if that made any sense.”

 He could hear the struggle in your voice and even felt the chaos going on in your head. His heart sunk, and just like that, his decision was made.

 “It made sense. How about we talk about it when I get in?”

 “Sure, baby, I’m sorry I don’t mean to bring you down while you’re working,” you began before he quickly shut you down.

 “I don’t wanna hear you say that again. You never bring me down. You’re the reason I’m always on cloud ten.”

 You snorted. “Babe, you mean, cloud nine.”

 “Nah, I said what I meant, princess. Cloud ten. You got me walking in the sky on a whole different level than anyone else. They wish they were me.”

 “You’re so silly. Get back to work,” you teased.

 “Y/N.”

 “Yes, baby.”

 “I love you. You know that, right.”

 “I know, babe,” you began to brush off.

 “No, I don’t think you do, but you will by the end of the day,” he finished.

 Once he ended the call, he got on the phone with his people to cancel the rest of his day. He didn’t care what it took. He had no intention of working for the rest of the day. It was strictly for you.

 Once the photo shoot was finished, he made a few quick stops to pick up things he would need. Plenty of your favorite candles. An overflow of your bath and body products from Lush. Your favorite order from the Japanese restaurant you always craved. Several servings of your favorite dessert and a few gifts. When he made it home, it almost six. Before bringing in the bags, he tracked you down, finding you still on the balcony in the bedroom.

 “Hey, baby.”

 Your smile was bright, but it never reached your eyes. “Hi.”

 He kissed your forehead, then your cheek, then your lips. “You smell like cotton candy, vanilla, and sugar. Where’ve you been?”

 Trying not to seem suspicious, he shrugged. “I just picked up a few things from the store. Have you eaten today?”

 You leaned back and hugged Bear closer, who was trying to reach him. Bending down closer, he allowed her to lick along his jaw.

 “Hi Bear, how are you? Have you been taking care of our lil’ mama? Yes, you have. Such a good girl.”

 For a few moments, both of you snuggled and scratched behind Bear’s ears, showering her with the same affection she always showed both of you.

 “So, did you?”

 “I had some tea and a muffin earlier.”

 “Princess,” he began scolding before you sighed then pouted those perfect lips.

 “Don’t be mad at me,” I couldn’t take that too.”

 “No baby, I’m not mad. I just don’t like it when you don’t take care of yourself. You mean everything to me, and I need you around.”

 You felt your heart swell from his words. You knew you meant a lot to him, but hearing him voice it always made your heart skip a beat. Turning around with the chair back between you, you flung your arms around his neck, holding him closer.

 “I love you.”

 “I love you too, princess,” Lewis whispered back.

 That was when you let everything out. You told him about the sleepless night you’d had, which he wasn’t even aware of. You told him about your worries, your fears, the anxieties that had reared their ugly heads, and held you captive all day. You held nothing back. The deepness of your anxieties and pain had him pulling you out of the chair, so you straddled him on the floor. He held you as you cried and let you use him as your teddy bear for as long as you needed.

 Once your sobs subsided, he proceeded to tell you all the things he loved about you, beginning with your kind and giving heart, the one he fell in love with first. He told you how much he loved your sense of humor and intelligence and loyalty to those you love. He even revealed a few secrets he’d held on to since the beginning of your relationship that would have told you how completely wrapped around your finger you had him. Nothing was off limits. He let it all out.

 By the time the sun had set over the horizon, you were staring at each other, neither in a rush to move or do anything else. He almost forgot about the night he’d planned—almost.

 “Give me ten minutes. I’ll be right back,” he said, kissing your nose and placing you on the floor.

 He rushed around your home to gather the bath products he’d bought and brought them into the bathroom to fill the tub. As he filled it, he didn’t think much of what ingredients were meant for what; all he cared about was the scent. He knew which scents would help with stress and mood, and those were the ones he focused on. As the water filled and the bath bombs fizzed out, he placed the candles around the bathroom and lit each one.

 Once he was sure everything was perfect, he went back to your bedroom and found you right where he left you, again with Bear in your arms. She loved the attention. Slowly he covered your eyes and led you to the bathroom, all the while you softly giggled.

 “What are you up to?”

 “Nothing. I just want tonight to be all about you. I want you to truly feel loved, taken care of, and safe.”

 “Aw, babe.”

 When he lowered his hands from your eyes, you gasped and brought yours to your mouth.

 “Oh my god, Lewis.”

 Before you was such a lovely sight, it brought tears to your eyes. The soft glow of the plethora of candles that were decorated around bathed the room in a romantic aura that had butterflies filling your belly. When your eyes dropped to the tiled floors, you found red and white rose petals leading to the back of the bathroom, where the dark bamboo colored flooring held the white porcelain tub.

 “Babe.”

 The tears in your eyes welled to capacity. Lewis dragged the pads of his thumbs just underneath your eyes to sweep them away.

 “Come on.”

 He led you along the flower path to the tub. The scent of plumeria, gardenia, vanilla, brown sugar, and a few other scents wrapped around you, making you moan.

 “Babe, this is so sweet,” you whined. When he smiled and showed off those adorable dimples, you playfully dug your pointer into them, deepening them.

 “Come on. Let’s get you in.”

Lewis stepped behind you, undid your robe, and helped you into the tub. As you sank down, you sighed out, relishing the feel of the hot water on your skin. Once you sat, you stretched and dipped your back to rest your neck against the cushion there.

 “Is it good?”

 “Yes, baby, thank you.”

 Instead of leaving, Lewis went behind you, sat on the raised portion of the floor, and picked up your bath gloves.  When you felt him begin to bathe you, you melted.

 “You’re going to give me a bath?”

 “Yep,” he replied.

 “Sure, you can handle that?”

 His smile was wide before he bit his bottom lip. “You know how focused I can be when I have a goal.”

 “And what’s the goal, baby?”

 Your eyes met. “The goal is to have the love of my life feel like the queen she is. So turn around, lay back, and let daddy do all the work.”

 You did as you were told, and Lewis did as he promised—he did all the work. Lewis rubbed your muscles and massaged out all the kinks and lumps your body held with expertise. You always knew he was good with his hands. He could handle every weapon with ease and skill. That skill didn’t stop there; it stretched far beyond martial arts and weaponry. By the time he’d drained the tub and rinsed your body off, you could have floated away from how lite you felt.

 He left you for a few minutes leaving you to wrap in a towel and make it back to your bedroom where you found your stock of body products replenished with a sweet note and gift box. Inside the gift box were a new robe and a sexy cami and short set. After lathering your skin with the lotion that smelled like coconuts, roses, and cocoa butter, you put the items on. When you turned around there, Lewis stood leaning on the door jamb, just quietly watching you.

 “How long have you been there?”

 “Since you popped that delectable thigh up there,” he said, nodding to the bed.

Smiling, you tried not to feel embarrassed. He’d been watching since the very beginning and hadn’t made one sound.

 “How many times have I told you not to used your creepy martial arts stealth against me,” you teased as you walked across to him.

 “Mmm, you smell so good,” Lewis added, biting your shoulder, making you moan and melt against him. His hand slid down the curve of your back to grip your backside, again making you moan.

 “Not sure who you bought it for, me or you.”

 Lewis’s grip tightened on your flesh, pulling you closer so you could feel the beginning stirs of his arousal.

 You lifted a leg and wrapped it around him, making his grip change, so his fingertips gently brushed your sex. The action made both of you groan. Lewis moaned on your mouth before his hands dropped to cup your ass. As if unconsciously, he angled you against his need, and in seconds you were making out and moaning. Lewis was the one to abruptly pull away and groan.

 Dinner was amazing and perfect. While you ate, Lewis gave you complete control over what you watched. Not wanting to make him sit through some super sappy romance movie, you chose something with a good mix of action and romance. By the time you moved on to the second movie, dinner was finished, and you’d moved on to dessert. Again you melted when you saw just how much trouble he’d gone through for you today. The second gift he gave you was a gold bracelet with a heart with your first initial and his together, and the mandarin word forever etched on the back. That was when stray tears rolled down your face, to which Lewis whispered nothing but words of love, infatuation, and desire.

 Halfway through their third movie, your hands began their search for the warmth of his flesh. It didn’t take long for your search to go from innocent to complete debauchery.  You could tell your touch was having an effect when Lewis’s breathing sounded more and more labored, and the speed of his heartbeat increased underneath your cheek. The way his slim limbs looked in his boxer briefs had your teeth sinking into your bottom lip. Slipping your hand down his abdomen and over every ab, you slinked your hand unto his underwear. Lewis groaned.

 “What’re you doing, princess?”

 “What does it feel like, daddy?”

 He groaned, bit his bottom lip, then slightly arched when you gently gripped his shaft.

 “This is supposed to be a calm night for you. it’s not supposed to be about--.”

 Once the words came out, Lewis’s lips were on yours. He kissed you intensely and passionately. It was a kiss that stole your breath. In no time, everything had flipped, including your body. You were now underneath him with your legs spread. As Lewis kissed you, he rocked his body against you, fanning the flames of your desire.

 “I love you,” Lewis whispered as you peeled his underwear off his hips. Lewis assisted you in sliding them lower until he’d kicked them off.

 Once you felt the heaviness of his need rest on your pubis, you moaned and wrapped a leg around his back. Lewis didn’t wait. In seconds he’d managed to pull off the shorts you wore and fling them somewhere in the room. From then, there was no need to go slowly.

 “Make love to me,” you whispered.

 “I love you,” you whispered on a strangled breath.

Within minutes you were clinging to him, sinking your nails into his back. Every connection you clenched around him while panting his name. On every retreat, he whimpered yours.

 You could see the truth of what he spoke in his eyes, and it brought you closer to the edge. Lewis sensed it and doubled down on his efforts to make you come undone.

 “So much, baby,” you whispered before you gasped loudly.

Oh boy! Here we go again with a whole essay worth of answers!/lh

1. What is the main color associated with them? What connections with that color do they share? Helia is primarily associated with the color yellow. For one, Helia has bright blond hair. Yellow is the color of happiness, energy, and positivity in general. Helia's got a personality that's as bright as sunshine, she wants to spread hope and joy to those around her, like the sun shining down on the world. In most shades, it's bright and hopeful. Yellow does have connotations of excess too; it's a somewhat overwhelming color and can strain the eyes if you stare at it too long. And, sometimes, Helia's energy is too much to keep up with.

2. Drawing from the language of flowers, what flower would symbolize them? Helia is associated with the larkspur flower. 

In general, they symbolize an open heart, strong bonds of love, and positivity. All of which suit Helia who wears her heart on her sleeve and loves so many people. White ones denote a happy disposition, fitting Helia's personality. Purple ones are specifically for first love; while Nozel isn't Helia's first love, she would be his. Pink are for fickleness, unpredictability in a way, and Helia is the type to flit about. Blue ones are for dignity and grace, things which Helia has little of put picks up as time goes on.

3. What real life animal would they be represented by? This is going to sound a little strange at first but I think elephants are a good animal for Helia. Elephants live in matriarchal groups so they are associated with femininity. They're known for their strength and endurance. Helia isn't physically strong or resilient but her spirit is hard to break down, as she holds out hope for a very long time. Those ideas also apply to her having a lot of magic and healing powers. Elephants are loyal creatures too, they mourn their family who die, and Helia's bonds of loyalty are what save Selen and later herself from elf possession. There is a rough beauty to elephants and Helia as well. Elephants may be large and slow but they interact with each other and humans so gently. And Helia may be loud and wild, but her positivity is a thing of beauty which uplifts others.

4. What mythical creature would they be represented by? Helia would be represented by a pegasus. Horses on their own are known for their majesty and beauty, they're associated with heroism (knights riding in on their noble steed). They also symbolize freedom which is enhanced by the pegasus' wings, which let it traverse the sky as well as land. Helia is supposed to be quite beautiful so that's an easy match. In terms of majesty, Helia doesn't start with much but instead gains it as she trains and focuses her ideals and magic. And her helpful heart paired with her work as a Magic Knight makes her quite the hero. Finally, there's her free-spirited, almost untamable, nature that contrasts with Nozel's restricted discipline.

5. Which body part are they associated with? I would associate Helia with the chest. The chest is one part of the human torso, where we get most of our strength. While Helia isn't the core of the Black Bulls' strength, she's one of the members that contributes to the squad's emotional heart. She's open with her feelings and encourages others to do the same. She does her best to spread positivity to the others, much in the way the heart (within the chest) pumps blood throughout the body. The chest also brings to mind thoughts of intimacy, vulnerability. Imagine being held up by your parents or crying into the chest of a friend or partner. Helia's dynamic with Nozel involves him allowing himself to be vulnerable with her. Thus, Helia's connection with that part of the body.

6. Which of the four seasons best fits them? Summertime is Helia's season. Spring is when new life comes in but summer is when everything has fully bloomed and come to life. Helia herself is still needs to refine her abilities but she's past the stage of slowly budding and coming into herself. She's present and in full bloom. It's the brightest, hottest time of the year, giving it an association with intensity. And Helia herself is an intense person. Summer also brings to mind a long summer vacation of freedom, suitable for Helia's free spirit.

7. What time of day are they associated with? Helia's time of day is midday, when the sun is highest in the sky. At this point in the day, most people are wide awake and going about their business. Helia likes to be out and about in busy streets, seeing what people are up to. And midday seems like the perfect time for that.

8. Which of the seven heavenly virtues are they associated with? Do they embody that virtue or are they trying to learn it? Patience is Helia's virtue. She endured several trials and tribulations, from her family's lifestyle changing to missing her brother for several years. But she's managed to come back every time with a smile on her face. As a healer, she is merciful. She forgives Selen for lowkey abandoning the family and for hurting the Black Bulls while possessed. She is also patient with Nozel and his trouble with affection and forgives him whenever he fumbles. And Nozel will struggle a lot when it comes to being a better brother and being more open with romance. It's a virtue not just about waiting but about being steadfast, which Helia is almost an expert in.

9. Which of the seven deadly sins are they associated with? Is it a negative trait of theirs or something they actively struggle with? Lust, in a somewhat loose sense, is the sin that Helia struggles with. While not highly sexual, Helia's affections are flighty (before she falls hard for Nozel) and she tends to flirt with lots of people. She just thinks everyone has something worth complimenting and can't keep her thoughts to herself. But because Helia is showing an attraction to and giving attention to everyone makes any serious affection she holds for someone hard to believe. It's not malicious but Helia struggles with restraining herself, with stopping herself from keeping her heart focused.

10. Are they closer to life or death? Helia is much closer to life. She is a healer and one of her bigger moments is during the Royal Knights Exam. Finral is a dear friend and so rushes to heal him before even Owen reaches him. She sees the way the others come to Finral’s protection and so she has him in her arm. Her then current spells (Healing Verdure, Rejuvenating Shining Throne, and Orchard of the Golden Ones) are too weak to heal the damage down to Finral and so her grimoire manifests Grove of the Summer Court, a healing heaven wherein Finral’s condition is stabilized and his wounds begin to heal.

She’s also closer to life because of her positivity. She always believed Selen to be alive. And she never lets herself fear losing her loved ones. The way she sees it, life isn’t just a struggle against death or an inevitable march towards it. Life is all around and is meant to be enjoyed, it’s meant to last. She acknowledges death but she’s firm in her hopes that life will always overcome.

11. Land, sea, or sky? Of the realms of the world, which one does the character belong to? The sky is where Helia belongs, strangely enough. She is free like the wind. Her heart cannot be tied down to any one place (except for her romantic affections 🥰). And just like the sky, Helia is boundless is many ways. Her magic is deep, her hopes are unceasing, and her potential for growth (magically and internally) has no end either. While Helia does love the feeling of dirt under her feet as she runs or water flowing over her body as she swims, she feels the greatest amount of peace when the wind is in her hair.

12. Are they the sun, moon, stars or something else in space? Helia is most definitely the sun! She shines and is often welcomed by others, much like how people like the greet the day. She fills people with warmth like the sun does when people sun bathe. Also, like the sun, Helia has a bit of prominence over her siblings as the eldest child. She isn’t very good at responsibilities or expectations though (she’s a ditz after all). But still, she manages to draw people’s eyes and even when she’s overwhelming (like the sun on a summer day) no one can deny her beauty and radiant personality.

13. Instead of your standard four elements, consider what kind of metal represents your character. Usually, I wouldn't associate Helia with metal because to me, plant and metal are opposing elements. But in this case, I would say Helia's symbolic metal is brass. Brass is a loud metal, think brass instruments in a band. Helia is bold and energetic like a brass band. Brass, like Tv Tropes said, is also associated with cheapness. Helia isn’t cheap but she lacks refinement. She can flirt obnoxiously, get in someone’s face when she’s excited, and her airheaded moments can come at the worst of time. Brass can shine and it can be used to make beautiful things, just like Helia. It just takes knowing how to use it right.

14. Regardless of whether or not they wield any, what kind of weapon do you associate them with? The weapon I think of when I think of Helia is a club. Clubs are simple and blunt, maybe a little clumsy seeming. Helia’s best trait is how straightforward she can be, mostly because she’s not very good at subtlety or technical things. But clubs are still very effective weapons and can be used in the wrong way. Helia learns to be more refrained in what she says and how she says it. She learns to read between the lines and see past people’s facades, to understand why they have facades. She’ll never be able to bring herself to be that complex, like a club will never be something like a bow, but she learns how to harness her simpleness to be someone who anyone can open up to.

15. Pick an article of clothing to represent them. What does it mean? I associate Helia with skirts. They can be long, flowing, and feminine. Helia’s as girly as they come, even when she’s caked in mud. She has some classy abilities like dance and playing the lyre. But skirts can also be short, playful, and sporty. She likes to have a good time and let herself be wild. Skirts can feel restrictive but I’ve also seen girls do splits in loose skirts. Skirts have a duality which Helia has to learn to strike a balance between. She should still have her freedom while still becoming more disciplined.

16. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and anything between. What kind of dish are they? Helia would definitely be best represented by lunch. When I think of social meals, I think of lunch. Picnics and barbecues are social events and I've usually experienced them as a lunch-time event. Also, so many times have I been invited out to lunch. Lunch is also a heartier meal, like dinner. Social and hearty are two words that definitely suit Helia. Thus, where I get the association from.

17. What instrument would be used in their leitmotif? Because Helia is able to play the instrument, her leitmotif would include a harp. It would stand in contrast to her personality but for her, her musical motif is about her potential. She has a gentle heart, like the gentle sound of a harp. And she learns technique and refinement of her magic skills and behavior.

18. Which card would they be from the major arcana of tarot cards? The Sun is the major arcana that Helia is associated with.

Upright, The Sun represents positivity, fun, warmth, success, and vitality. It's all practically a perfect match for Helia. She's an optimistic, fun-loving, and kind-hearted woman. Vitality? That's about her liveliness and her healing magic, of course! And success? She was born in a noble family, her family got stripped of their status, and they eventually get it back through Helia and Selen's work as Magic Knights. Also Helia marrying into the royal family is a big win!/lh

When reversed, the card represents one's inner child, feeling down, overly optimistic. Helia is hopeful to a fault. She believes even when there's not much proof that things will turn out for the best. There are times when she does feel down, though. After Asta's arms are broken and cursed at the Undersea Temple, she tries with all her might to heal Asta but her magic is insufficient and she despairs. And that inner child, Helia does want to come across as mature and in control, but she has the awe for the world the way a child does. And with Nozel, she encourages him to be vulnerable as a child again after years of having to be strong.

19. Which of the four temperaments are they? Definitely sanguine, through and through! She's people-oriented, energetic, and open. She's got many of the strengths and weaknesses of the sanguine temperament. She forgives easily and supportive of her loved ones, which are great. But her lack of discipline and her gullibility can't be denied. She's even got the blond hair and lovestruck dere type attributed to being sanguine.

20. What word/phrase is central to their character? “I will be there for you.”

Helia wants to help people. But she's flighty and gets distracted easily. Committing and being a dependable, stable aid is something she needs to get better at. It starts by being a training partner with Noelle because they both have magic control troubles. Then she refuses to let Selen, possessed by Vetto, lose himself and isn't scared away even when her life is being threatened. She bonds with Nozel and becomes someone he can open up to. And it's not just Helia who needs to be there for others. Nozel attempts to reach out to her when she's possessed, showing that he wants to be there for her. But in that moment, it doesn't work out. Selen manages to talk Helia to her senses though, letting him save her the way she saved him. Above learning self-discipline, Helia's arc is about loyalty and dependability.

No phone setting so letters are the go-to. And... yeah I can imagine Jack taking advantage of a squad member's power if it can in fact work in his favor. Now, I don't think Jack would get in trouble for giving Lorena a communication device for easier communication. According to Tabata, comm devices are considered pretty valuable and are largely kept within the Magic Knights and in important locations in towns. Even rich people can buy their own. So I suppose that Jack could drop some yul on a communication device just for Lorena. But at that point, the GM would know that Jack is in deep (because while he's not strapped for cash, he did get worked up over a pay cut so...)

I like that the tough as nails individuals are soft for each other when it comes to comfort. Most of the time you don't imagine Jack and laughter (except for his own weird laugh/lh). But he manages to bring Lorena laughter and levity. And Lorena is soft but not always direct, letting him have space and then treating him to domestic bliss to help him forget whatever troubles him. 💗

3. What was their first impression of each other?

They first met at Lorena's place of employment, the butcher shop. Lorena almost knew who Jack was immediately from the robe and the amount of mana she sensed from him. She just didn't want to let on that she did. While she never spoke to a Magic Knight Captain before, she didn't want to be unprofessional or deal with someone trying to flash their status for a bigger discount. So she treated him like anyone else.

Jack got a huge kick out of that. When he first walked in, he wasn't expecting the desk to be managed by a gorgeous woman. He also wasn't expecting her to speak to him with such expertise on the subject of hunting and dressing. What threw him off was how Lorena seemed unfazed when he leaned into his reputation to intimidate her. She maintained eye contact and wouldn't budge when he let his mana radiate throughout the building. She remained unbothered in asking him for the standard rate instead of granting him a discounted one. He HAD to get to know her after that. Her good looks were one thing, but Lorena intrigued Jack on a personal level.

13. How do they keep in contact when they’re apart? Do they write letters, talk on the phone, or simply wait out the time?

Jack and Lorena are both too busy to write to each other. Plus, being sentimental in such a way is not their strong suit. They're doers and show they care through their actions and by showing up for one another.

It's hysterical imagining En using his talking mushroom spell for them to talk back and forth for a while. Jack eventually splurged on magical communication devices that he would use to call her while he was away.

Jack's really good at making Lorena laugh. There's something about Jack's zaniness that she really likes. Perhaps it's because he doesn't take himself too seriously. He's the total opposite of her stoic younger brother, Ben. Jack bringing levity into situations helps lift her spirits. He also lightens the load on her whenever she feels overwhelmed with cooking and looking after the kids.

When Jack is upset, he won't try to voice his needs because he's so used to dealing with things on his own. He will seem more irritated and take time away to sulk a bit. Lorena is very good at picking up on when he's in a certain mood because of her daughter Agnes behaving in a similar fashion. She lets him have his space for a while to blow off steam and will have a homecooked meal ready for him when he comes back. When they're alone, they get into long cuddle sessions with her running her hands through his hair and down his back.
