CLAUDE FRANÇOIS. Son père l'aurait rêvé comptable mais c'est en chantant qu'il va devenir une icône.  En 1961   Claude François "monte" à Paris sur les conseils de BB qu'il a rencontré à Saint Tropez. C'est l'époque des vaches maigres, des petits cachets, des costumes "fittés" que ne renierait par Hedi Slimane et des cravates fines . Le succès déboule avec Belles ! Belles ! Belles ! et les premiers pas bondissants et sur vitaminés font leur apparition dans un scopitone tourné par Claude Lelouch. L'arrivée de Paul Lederman va planter un nouveau décor : les tournées s'enchainent, les tubes s'empilent, les femmes tombent à ses pieds les jeunes filles (blondes) dorment sur son palier (et souvent dans son lit). Claude François devient un chanteur populaire dont les chorégraphies avec les Claudettes sont apprises par cœur par des gamines qui décorent leur chambre de posters de l'idole.  Dans les années 70, le tailleur parisien Camps de Luca va participer à la légende de cette bête de scène ultra perfectionniste, en lui confectionnant sur-mesure des costumes flamboyants. Claude François en possèdera 888 ! Il aime le satin et les strass. Il aura donc des chemises-body (à pattes d’entrejambes) pour rester en place pendant les chorégraphies en satin, col pelle à tarte, signée du chemisier Henri Le Corre avec cravate large assortie et des costumes couverts de strass ! Un soir Claude François appelle son tailleur "je pars en tournée dans une semaine, il faut que tu me fasses cinq costumes ! » et lui de : répondre « Ils sont prêts ». Connaissant son client il a pris sur lui d’en couper cinq ou six à l'avance. "Euh Claude François… t’enlèves les Claudettes… Qu’est-ce qu’il reste ?" aurait dit Johnny Halliday à Michel Drucker. “Firstly, apologies for the delay in writing this article. I've had several comments and emails asking me when this article for the Camps de Luca fitting would be posted, but the birth of my first born (and potential future owner of this jacket) has slowed everything down lately.

I managed to get in to see Julien briefly while we were in Paris at the tail-end of summer for a trial fitting in waste cloth. It was supposed to be a fitting in the grey herringbone cloth I chose last time, but I changed my mind between visits, so we needed to pick a new cloth at the fitting...”

My Oldest Tie.

In my pretty substantial tie collection this is the oldest one that I still use. One of the first quality ties I bought, must be around 25 years ago now. A Zegna in a wool/silk blend.

The @campsdeluca suit with typical Parisian notch is always a pleasure to wear for its powerful feel and distinctive style.

The @monteverdepens_official Ritma fountain pen took some getting used to and some micromesh to help the nib actually flow but is now very enjoyable with its immensely reliable magnetic cap.
