Dima, Lina, and Lian: A Story of Resilience and Hope from Gaza

My name is Dima, the eldest of a miraculous triplet: Lina and Lian are my sisters. Our parents waited for us for many long years, enduring pain and countless attempts until we came into this world through the grace of God and medical intervention via IVF. We were their dream come true, their "three shining stars," playing and laughing in the narrow alleys of our small neighborhood in Gaza.

But happiness didn’t last long. The war stole everything from us. One dark night, our home collapsed over our heads. The cries of our mother and father still echo in my ears. We were rescued, but we lost everything. Since that fateful day, we’ve been living in a small tent with others who have also lost their homes.

We dream of returning to school, playing in our garden, and sleeping in our warm beds. But now, every day is a struggle for survival. Sometimes, we don’t have enough food, and the water we drink isn’t always clean. Lina often asks, "Why us? Why do children have to suffer like this?" Lian dreams of becoming a doctor to help others, but she doesn’t know if her dream will ever come true.

Today, we speak to you because we need your help. The children of Gaza have so little, but we hold onto big dreams. We ask you to be our hope. Support us through your donations, by sharing our story, and by raising our voice to the world. We need every hand willing to ease this burden.

this week has been really crappy - I’m talking, bad shifts at work and broken glasses and crying in my thesis advisor’s office crappy. but this hike itself was magical. golden hour and the sound of waterfalls in the distance and holding hands with my boyf and BIG deep breaths of fresh air loosens me up and reminds me things can only get better.

today is the first day of Lent, and it’s my first time giving anything up - but I’ve decided to do social media and gossip. and I’m not a big gossiper but it’s an easy vice to feed when the people around you do it. and I did a social media detox from October to January and it did wonders for me so I’m doing it again, this time with more intentionality and focus on Jesus.
