Watching the PJO TV show made me rethink a lot of the scenes in the books…

Mostly just how young all the demigods really were. Seeing the actors really put things into perspective, and then I started thinking about the second series and how Nico, younger than all of them, has seen TWO wars by 14 years old.

The scene where he sees Percy at Camp Jupiter, what do you think is running through Nico’s head? He’s barely a teenager, he has this huge crush on this incredibly scary and powerful demigod, and he knows he has to pretend he doesn’t know him because Nico isn’t supposed to be here at this camp…

What do you think was his first emotion? Scared for a war he knows is now coming? Elated that Percy is alive? Horrified that this guy, seemingly the center of everything that has gone wrong for him, is showing up in his life again? Do you think he stopped to consider how serious Percy looked? How different he seems not surrounded by his mother and Annabeth and all of his friends? Do you think he thought about spilling it all and telling Percy who he is? Because Nico is 14 and should not be responsible for a choice like that, and because there’s so little he wouldn’t do for Percy? Do you think it crossed his mind that this Percy, with no memories, might be a Percy he has a chance with? Do you think he beat himself up over that thought for weeks? Do you think he had a hard time looking Annabeth in the eyes when he saw her again, knowing how hopeful he was that Percy would never get his memories back? Even if it was for a second?

…Can you tell I’ve been turning this scene over in my head all day?

"Where did you come from?" I asked Percy who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. "I've been here the whole time. Invisible." He said, he showed me Annabeth's cap. I mouthed a "Wooow. cool" I hoped he wouldn't hear it. I want to be a calm and chilled guy so he would like me more. But he seemed to not care. "How did you know Zoë and your sister were here?" I blushed. "I heard them walk by the Hermes cabin I don't...I don't sleep too well at camp.  So I heard footsteps and them whispering. And so I kind of followed" I answered confusedly. "And now you're thinking about following them on the quest" He guessed. "How did you know..?" I asked.

He told me that if it was his sister, he would also go after her, but that I would be too young for such a dangerous quest. Even though I agreed or still do...(I think no child should ever be forced to do something so dangerous) I still wanted to watch out for Bianca.

"Maybe you're right. But...but you can go for me." I said. I knew he would go anyway. He tried to argue with me, that the Hunters didn't like boys and what if they found out etc. I told him that I knew that he wanted to go anyway.

"Yeah," he finally said, "I have to find Annabeth. I have to help, even if they don't want me to."

I smirked. "I  won't tell on you!" I swore, "But you have to promise me to keep my sister safe."

"I...that's a big thing to promise, Nico, on a trip like this. Besides, she's got Zoë, Grover and Thalia-"

"Promise." I insisted

"I'll do my best. I promise that" he said. (Spoiler warning, I'm not sure if that was really his "best" but yeah...)

"Get going, then. Good luck" I said.

The sky started to get brighter while Percy put on Annabeth’s cap. "Tell Chiron-" "I'll make something up. I'm good at that. Go on" I smiled crookedly while I watched his foot prints in the snow, getting further away. A little later I pretended to get woken up by Bianca, to tell me goodbye and that she loved me and stuff like that... I was jealous and sad... I hugged her, let her kiss my forehead. If I just knew what I know now...

A fic about Neptune and Percy, and the wrath a genocide can bring (and Nico, yay!)

Gotta recommend bc even though I'm quite familiar with Chthonic children getting massacred (courtesy of Happy, thank you btw), Camp Jupiter with its animosity towards the water gods certainly is an equally thrilling concept.

I wonder if the younger campers at chb wrote fanfiction about their favorite ships from the biggest heroes (the seven) at camp. If they did I bet there were ship wars between Jasico and Percico shippers all across camp. Meanwhile Solangelo shippers just point to Nico and Will making out and mouth ‘I won.’

Leo and Piper are the only ones that know and are here for the drama. Nico and Annabeth have their suspicions but don’t have enough evidence.

Capture the Flag wars are held twice a week now. One time regular style, the second so that the shippers can be on separate teams and take out their annoyance with the other ships.

The fanfics start getting out of control. One twelve year old Athena kid teams up with an Aphrodite kid to write a big three threesome and hand out the latest chapters like drug dealers to other campers.

Leo jokingly writes Solangelo fluff and sells it for $2 a chapter each week. The Stolls help with distribution.

Nico frustrated at Percy: Percy I know loyalty is your fatal flaw, but have you ever stopped to consider what you actually want? Not what everyone else wants for you?

Percy confused: What do you mean?

Nico yelling at this point: What do you want Percy? What's the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about what you want out of your life? Not what the gods want for you, or Chrion, or your mom, or fucking Annabeth!

Nico: What do YOU WANT?

Percy says the first thing that comes out of his mouth without thinking: You.

Nico confused: What?

Percy as if a dam has finally broken and water has finally rushed out with all of his unspoken words and feelings: I want you, and a apartment in New York. I want to make you blue chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast just like my mom makes me. And I want to show you Montauk beach where my mom took me all the time as a kid. Where she met my dad. And I don't want to be a hero anymore, or go on anymore stupid dangerous quests where the people I care about die! I want to go swimming for as long as I want and sleep on the beach and not have to worry about a monster attacking me. I don't want to go to college in New Rome with Annabeth where I have to struggle again with school and everything! I want you in my bed everyday, morning and night. I want everything in our apartment to be blue. But I'll also let you pick some spaces for color if you want because it be ours. I want everyone to stop calling me stupid or thinking all my worth is that I'm this big hero of prophecy, or part of the golden camp half blood couple with Annabeth. I want to have dates with you in our apartment playing video games or watching movies while we eat McDonald's. I want to be normal. But I also want you there. Even if normal is not what you want and you want me to live in the underworld with you. I just want you besides me. In whatever way you can have me. Because I do want you Nico.

Percy finally finished, breaths hard as if he's run a marathon. Still staring at Nico.

Nico worried: Are you ok.

Percy: I don't know.

Nico nervous goes to hug Percy: I don't usually do this. But you need it.

Percy hugs Nico back hard.

Nico whispers into Percy's ear: I want you too.

Percy smiles and kisses Nico on the lips.

Ranking the trios of the children of the Big 3:

1. Thalia, Percy, Nico: their dynamic is to die for. and the power team when they're together? pure. masterpiece. ik we got moments of them in pjo and the sword of hades but MAN would it have been badass to see them kick some primordial asses together in hoo and toa as well!

2. Jason, Percy, Nico: their dynamic, although rocky in the start, was fun to read by the time of jason's death. ik ricky never gave them proper brotherly bonding time and instead shoved the whole weird ass percico and jasico dynamic, but fanfics of them hanging out as normal brothers have cured me lmao.

Honourary #1: Bianca, Hazel, Nico: do i really need to explain to the rrverse community how this was such a tragically wasted potential ;_;

Honourary #2: Thalia, Jason, Percy: oof the hilarious trio they couldve been! the regular banter between thalia and percy with jason being dragged to choose between one of them lmaooo. and also the true sibling vibes they couldve radiated on the battlefield? missed opportunity fr :(

3. Thalia, Percy, Bianca: no cuz their relationship in ttc was so sweet ;-; the way thalia and percy looked out for bianca as if she was their little sister really makes me tear up on the rereads. rip bianca you couldve been such an overpowered child of hades, and together with percy and thalis you couldve showed the gods that demigods aren't to be messed with!

4. Jason, Percy, Hazel: the roman trio! oh how i wish we had gotten them governing camp jupiter together, showing the others why they deserve to be known as the roman little 3! but at least they got pagetime together on the argo ii lol, just wished we had more of their dynamic.

Percico au where Percy is obsessed with Nico on his reality tv show and watches it obsessively (it takes place in PJO universe let me explain) (I have yet to come up with a name for this show I think maybe Nuclear Family but I really don’t know suggestions are welcome)

There is a reality show about the underworld chthonic gods family and their demigod kids on Olympus Hephaestus TV and it’s very popular on Olympus and camp halfblood (Persephone is very popular icon and Nico is hilarious) the theme song is Nuclear Family by Green Day it has the vibes of The Osbournes (that old reality show about Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon and their two kids)

Anyway there are two seasons of this show a year. One season when Persephone is there with Hades (Nico is usually not in this season much because he doesn’t get along with Persephone but there are sometimes B plots of the show with him doing something important in the underworld bickering with Persephone or hanging out at camp halfblood in the hades cabin or short clips of him reacting to something his family said about him) and the second season of the year is when Persephone is not there much cause she’s with Demeter on Olympus but maybe visits once in a while and Nico takes a more substantial role in the show cause he’s hanging out in the underworld more often (with short clips of Persephone reacting to what her family says about her behind her back) (Persephone and Nico have a whole beef session going on in these reaction clips and like half of it is just them joking around for the show and playfully bickering even tho they kinda actually hate each other and seriously don’t get along at all when they see each other in person they’re beef is like the funniest and most dramatic part of the show they get into cat fights like the old early keeping up with the Kardashians seasons sometimes).

And Percy is a college dropout training for the Olympics with his water powers and is a little heart broken because he and Annabeth grew apart and their lives just went in two separate directions the breakup was mutual and felt natural but also sad because they were best friends for so long and they’re still on good terms just taking a break in their friendship as they heal from growing apart and finding out who they are without each other) and college was just not anything positive in his life it made him miserable and he still had no idea what his career would have been he had spent his whole time there trying to figure out a career and major and he could never figure out what he wanted to do and the constant studying and pressure to do well was driving him crazy so. What’s a guy with super magic water powers and no patience for higher education supposed to do with his life. Swimming Olympics and counselor for camp halfblood in the summer it is.

Percy had heard about that show from the kids at camp and at first wasn’t all that interested. Why would he care about Hades’ reality show after all the beef they had? He really honestly did not care. Until he heard the campers talking about Nico on the show. And he started asking them questions about Nico. So many questions. Because Nico is an old friend of Percy’s and he’s just really curious about what Nico’s up to these days. And the kids are like dude if you’re really this interested just watch the freaking show at this point.

So Percy finally watches the show (rolling his eyes every time Hades and Persephone are on and skips through their clips) and mainly just watches Nico and his funny little B plots and adventurous teenage shenanigans. Percy finds Nico is actually a very funny person he just had a very blunt and darker and sarcastic and mocking and dirty sense of humor that he remains straight faced for the whole time he never smiles or laughs at his own jokes. But Percy’s cracking up every time Nico opens his mouth.

Nico has no idea Percy is watching him. He remains oblivious and continues his life as usual.

Eventually this show becomes Percy’s favorite show and Nico obviously his favorite character. He even learns to tolerate Hades and Persephone well enough when Nico’s around them. He sees how much of a normal (somewhat) happy family they seem like.he comes to accept Hades and Persephone as Nico’s actual family. (Even tho he still kinda hates them personally. He understands how Nico has a somewhat decent relationship with Hades and how Nico and Persephone learned to respectfully hate each other in silence to keep the peace in the family. )

Nico also happens to be the main communication between Camp Halfblood and Camp Jupiter and the underworld all at once because of his shadow travel. One day Nico runs into Percy somehow and Percy accidentally makes a reference to the show and Nico squints his eyes at it because how does Percy know that he wasn’t there-and then Nico realizes Percy’s been watching the show. He honestly has no idea how to react to his first and biggest crush and the coolest person he’s ever known watching his show and making reference jokes with him. Nico is shell shocked.

Percy thinks he made a mistake at first he thinks he weirded Nico out and came off too stalkerish and is about to apologize-

But then Nico giggles. A real true adorable cutest giggle you’ve ever heard type of giggle. Because he’s so exited and happy that Percy’s actually seems interested in something in his life for once! He’s finally got Percy’s attention like he had tried and failed to do for so many years cause Percy was so busy looking at Annabeth!

And this is when Percy realizes how truly whipped he is for Nico. This is when Percy realizes his big fat crush on Nico. And he really doesn’t know what to do with this information about himself and he is now the one that is shell shocked.

Nico makes a very quick flirty remark to Percy’s reference and then runs away to go hide in the hades cabin and kick his feet on the bed and squeal like a little kid and replay this interaction in his head a million times for 5 minutes and then start second guessing himself and regretting saying anything at all and it’s so obvious Percy has never felt the same about him oh gods why did he flirt with Percy now his feelings are obvious now Percy knows everything shit why did he say that why did he do that Percy is probably so weirded out and disgusted right now Percy probably sees him as a little brother and only watches the show to keep an eyes on him to make sure he’s ok and stuff why the hell did he flirt with Percy like a fucking fool and he keeps laminating about this all night and forever and ever.

Percy is once again shocked and confused. He thinks maybe he was misreading the conversation and misreading Nico’s intentions. Because it seemed like Nico just kinda flirted with him. That can’t be true. Nico doesn’t flirt with people. Especially not people like Percy who he probably sees as an older brother who he kinda hates. Maybe it was one of Nico’s jokes that he just couldn’t quite deliver the way he meant it to happen. Just a joke that didn’t land. Yeah that’s gotta be it. Just Nico joking around like he does on the show sometimes. No big deal. He brushed it off and continues on with his day

On the later seasons after Nico and Percy get together and have been serious for a good long few years Hades eventually begrudgingly accepts Percy as part of the family just because Nico loves him so much (even tho he hates him and is not quiet about it they beef the same way Nico and Persephone do) and begrudgingly allows Percy to become part of the show and now Percy’s involved in half of Nico’s parts of the show. Hilarity and shenanigans ensue.

The fact that Nico never got to choose anything in his life - not his parentage, not his sexuality, not being dragged out of his time , not even being established as an ambassador to Camp Jupiter and certainly not being dragged through Tartarus- except who he fell in love with

The fact that Nico has been rejected from the very beginning - for being gay (he came from Fascist Italy, something tells me they weren’t very supportive of him), for being the son of Hades, for being darker and broodier than most people like - except by this one person, this one person willing to shoulder the weight of the world to stop it from falling on his shoulders, who sees Nico as his responsibility, unlike everyone else who simply sees him as an annoyance at best and a liability at worst.

Will is great and all, and y’all already know that Solangelo is my jam, but there’s something so sweet about Percico. Real “Like Real People Do” vibes
