Interlude
Would you like some celebrity AU in these trying times? Have some nonsense; don't worry about Eli, he's an OC, it's fine.
*
“Finally tonight, my producers won’t let me end the show without discussing the most compelling story in the nation, a tale of intergenerational drama which begs the question: which speaks to you most? Do you like a redemption arc, recognition coming after decades of struggle? Or a reward for raw, young talent the likes of which has never before been seen? These questions will possibly be answered Sunday night, when the Emmy Awards give a trophy to…a Best Supporting Actor in a Drama.
“On the one hand you have Bruno Madrigal, whose offscreen exploits have overshadowed his work for decades. In recent years, however, he’s become beloved by children as the voice of Hernando the Crab in the animated Shore Thing film series and attracted critical acclaim in indie films such as The Collaboration and onstage in an off-Broadway revival of Endgame. Now he’s nominated for his role as Oscar Ramos, a pedicab driver with a secret in AMC’s thriller Upper West.
“Then there’s his nephew, Camilo Madrigal, who has veered away from the music careers of his mother and sister to follow - cautiously, we hope - in his uncle’s acting footsteps. He has more than a knack for it, given his star turn as nine different characters…or maybe it’s the same one in different phases, who knows what’s happening on Max’s scifi-horror hit Idle Hands? My nephew’s tried to explain it several times, but I’ve given up figuring it out.
“So, where do you fall: Team Camilo, or Team Bruno? Personally I think we as a society should have moved past these hashtag labels a long time ago, but if I were a betting man? I’d say the Madrigals are going to split the voters and we’ll get the winner we deserve, the venerable J.K. Simmons.
“That’s it for me this evening, stay tuned for the latest headlines on ‘Nightbeat’, and I’ll see you back here bright and early Sunday morning for ‘Mas with Guzmán’. Buenos noches.”
The news program theme music played, and Bruno would have continued mindlessly playing Candy Crush on his phone but-
“You know there’s a rumor you slept with that guy.”
Bruno glanced to his right. Eli was slumped the corner of the couch, smirking, light brown hair tousled and hazel eyes glancing his way with a mischievous twinkle. Bruno scowled.
“You don’t- that’s ridiculous. I can’t help it if people think we had chemistry or there were ‘sparks flying’ in that interview or whatever, but it’s all…fanflick?”
Eli laughed and gently kicked his shin, he retaliated by pinching his knee. “Fanfic, boomer.”
“Everybody really does forget about Gen X,” Bruno muttered, then shook his head. “Anyway. The point is I can’t believe people still think Pulitzer prize winning reporter José Guzmán would risk his journalistic integrity by hooking up with me.”
“Depends.” Eli straightened up to lean closer, waggling his eyebrows. “Is ‘journalistic integrity’ what he calls his-”
“Guys! I’m still right here!”
They both cringed and glanced over the back of the sofa towards the kitchen, where Mirabel had taken over the island in a flurry of embroidery floss. She’d swiveled around on the barstool to give them a glare, but a smile still tugged at the corner of her mouth.
“Sorry.”
“Sorry, Mira.”
She nodded, satisfied. “Thank you.” A moment or two slipped by, a perfect pause, before she went on. “But you totally did hook up with him, right?”
Bruno blinked, turned back to the TV, and picked up the remote. “I am changing the channel. It’s a metaphor for changing the subject.”
Shortly after that Mirabel presented him with a baseball cap emblazoned with “#TeamCamilo”, and a black necktie which she’d decorated with symbols representing all of the Madrigal family…and a blue, pink, and white striped heart for Eli. Bruno happily wore both on the Emmys red carpet two nights later.
*
A/N: he did totally hook up with him. Celebverse!José is basically Anderson Cooper. Yes he does get stuck doing New Year's Eve with Andy Cohen still, it's fine. As for who wins the Emmy, it's been almost two years and I am still not sure.

Giant siren au
Antonio meet human child ( his age) im just curious to see how these completely different species of kids or babies interact with each other ( I don’t know how old Antonio is) it could probably start off with the human kid being lost and scared and antonio sorta goes hakuna matata just cheering him up or up to you how it goes, I just wanna see the interaction lol your ideas are better. (Maybe this would be one of the closest friendships between human and siren or up2u)
Also what r the giant siren madrigals fav sea food if they have any
from what i saw on one of yo asks, I can just imagine Luisa holding a human whos freaking out and she’s like “ what’s so dangerous about this tiny thing” Isa: idk 🤷♀️
Speaking of which What really scares them about humans? I mean these sirens are HOOGE right?
This one’s a little fun, joke au
Giant mer augustin meets jack sparrow
j: I gotta jar of dirt 🤪
Augustin: ( is just super interested cause there’s mostly sand in Encanto, and also cause a human finally doesn’t run off… cuz jacks crazy probs)
This mer Encanto au is awesome 👏 nice work 👍
Up to you if ya wanna do this ask lol no rush time is precious
WAZAAAAAAAAAUP
Of course I can answer <333 so Antonio is 5. Still the same age, Giant sirens only age weird when they grow outta their shells 🤠 as for interacting with kids, he essentially views him as another siren guppy. He doesn’t actually know he’s human until they’re swimming and the human kid has to keep going up for water. But he really likes him.
Human children are actually viewed as harmless. And giant sirens actually feel the need to protect them, especially if they’re alone. Often, they’ll try and protect the child from adult humans, even their parents. This can result in human children being taken from the shore, which is a big factor in the giant sirens and humans beef. Giant sirens don’t think human children are fit to be with adult humans, and will only return them if the child is obviously distressed, albeit reluctantly. Human children have been found in giant shells before when returned.
Madrigals like she’ll fish, like crabs, and lobsters. Deep sea fish are liked as well ⁉️⁉️ Specifically, off the top of my head. Isabela, Julieta and Camilo like giant squid. Pepa, Dolores, Agustín, Mirabel and Antonio likes shark. Bruno, Luisa, Fèlix and Alma like orca <333
Fear wise, Giant sirens know that humans can make things that can kill them. And for decades, centuries even, humans have hunted giant sirens for fun. It’s not as common anyway, but it still happens. And humans have made huge, and I mean massive spears that came launched into a sirens chest, which will instantly kill them. Not even a second to process, it’s an instant death. Giant Sirens don’t like ships. So they will crash them if the feel they have to.
Agustín would be very confused. Very 😭 another reason to find humans in general harmless. They’re so goofy, he doesn’t understand the fear. Besides hunters of course.
I’m glad you like the AU⁉️⁉️

Since it's basically canon that wonderful, wonderful Julieta Madrigal cared about dietary restrictions/ considerations based on this image from the Encanto cookbook...
What are your headcanons for how the Madrigal family/your Madrigal next gen ocs, eat?
Who's vegan? Who's vegetarian? Who has another restriction? Who has allergies? Who doesn't have any of those?
I thought it'd be an interesting question to think about.
Miranda has a shellfish allergy, which doesn't affect her much in the Encanto, since there's no coast for them to catch crabs or oysters from.
Princesa heard a rumor that bread makes you fat, so she's been trying (and failing) to avoid gluten products.
Fuega's lactose intolerant, but doesn't have it super bad, so she ignores it and deals with the stomach aches.
Leta is semi-allergic to citrus (citrus foods taste spicy to her), but she also just ignores it. Nobody knows where the fuck that gene came from, but they guess it's from Pedro's side, since Alma says he never liked citrus.
Both Tomás and Rómulo are mildly allergic to peanuts. They actually have to consume them to have any effect, though.
Hugo has celiac disease (one of his birth parents was of European descent), and finding that out was TERRIFYING, because Julieta's wheat based foods were KILLING him at the same time they were HEALING him, and it was a huge thing. Hugo only eats bread made of corn now.
Héctor wants to become a vegan, but Camilo and Marcos want him to wait until he's older, since being a vegan isn't healthy for a growing child, especially in a world without dietary supplements.
Mirabel and Bubo's triplets all inherited some of Bubo's weird allergens (I headcanon Bubo as being allergic to almost everything under the sun lol). All three got shellfish (which, like Miranda's doesn't really affect them), eggs, and soy allergies. Luckily, Julieta can get crafty for her grandbabies.
The rest of the kids don't have food allergies.
Most of these are the adopted kids, just because we really don't see much of the canon characters eating anything.

Encantober 2023 Day 6: Heart
Today was the day the entire Madrigal family started to take the week off of helping the Encanto. While each family member each had two days off throughout the week, there was only one week in the year they all agreed to take off together. That was also agreed upon by the town, since they were the ones to see firsthand each of the Madrigals overwhelm themselves in their own way that they agreed to take that weight off their shoulders.
The Madrigals usually spent the week spending time with each other as a family around the town. This year, they decided to spend the week out of the Encanto to travel more and find more places to visit in the future. They went to the town just north of the Encanto and stayed in three hotel rooms, since each room only had two queen-sized beds. Julieta and Agustin took the first room with Isabela and Mirabel. Pepa and Felix took the second room with Dolores and Antonio. Alma and Bruno took the last room with Luisa and Camilo.
The Madrigals found a beach near the hotel that they decided to go to on the first day of the week. Once they made their way to the beach, the Madrigals found a spot to put their chairs and bags that was spacious enough for all twelve of them. While they got quite a few annoyed glares from beachgoers because of how many of them there were, they just minded their own business because they never let other people ruin their week. Antonio saw a long row of seashells by the shore and wanted to collect some.
"Mami, can I go for a walk to collect shells?" he asked.
"Si, Tonito; just stay with Mirabel and don't go out too far." Pepa replied as Felix helped put sunscreen on her back.
"Yay!"
Antonio and Mirabel made their way to the shore to find some seashells that struck their eye. They found all kinds of seashells throughout their walk; small ones, big ones, and many in different shapes. The two youngest grandkids stopped in their tracks when Mirabel found a unique shell that no one has ever seen before. It was bright red, with several rough edges, and was shaped like a heart. It was the most beautiful shell either of them have ever seen.
"This must be a super rare shell," Mirabel pointed out as she held the shell up to the sun.
The shell shined and sparkled in the sunlight and Mirabel and Antonio were never more fascinated by anything their entire lives. Mirabel put the shell back down to let Antonio hold it.
"Do you think it belongs to a type of hermit crab we've never seen before?"
"Maybe; it could also belong to an exotic type of snail. Let's show everyone else the shell, since we should go back anyway. It's almost lunchtime."
Mirabel and Antonio made their way back to the family's beach spot with the shells they found. As they continued walking, they saw a young girl that was about Antonio's age crying by the water. Mirabel stopped with Antonio and ran over to the girl.
"Excuse me, I noticed you were sitting here upset. Are you okay?" she asked.
The girl sniffed before she could reply. "I can't find my mami and papi. I went swimming and came out to find them for lunch; now I don't know where they are."
Mirabel sat next to the girl by the water. Antonio followed and put the bucket of shells next to him. "Do you remember what they looked like?"
"My mami had dark, curly hair. Her skin color is just like yours. She was wearing a purple bathing suit with a flower on it."
Mirabel was impressed with how well-spoken the girl was. It reminded her of herself when she was her age. She stood up from the shore and tapped Antonio on the shoulder for him to also stand up.
"Just stay where you are right now. My cousin and I are going to try to find your parents for you. If we find them, we'll let them know and we'll come back for you."
The girl got up and hugged Mirabel. "Gracias; I'll stay for as long as I need to."
Mirabel and Antonio then left the shore to find the girl’s parents. Antonio used the shells they found to make a trail so they could find their way back to the girl when they found her parents. The two found so many seashells that the trail should be long enough for them to make a trail to find someone.
“Remember, Antonio, we just need to find a woman with dark, curly hair with similar colored skin as me wearing a purple bathing suit with a flower on it.”
Antonio nodded and kept on making the trail of seashells. They got further away from the shoreline until Antonio lifted his head to see a woman that looked exactly like the girl described wearing sunglasses and a beach hat sitting in a beach chair under an umbrella with a book, with a man next to her, who must have been the girl’s father.
“Do you think that’s the woman?” Antonio asked.
Mirabel looked in the direction Antonio was pointing in. “That should be her mami! I would like to ask her if she has a daughter, but she seems so relaxed right now and I don’t want to disrupt that.”
Not that long after they found her, the woman closed the book and put it in her beach bag and took her sunglasses off. She then reached for her husband’s chair and they held hands. It must have been a sign she was finished reading for the time being.
“Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go ask her if she lost a child!” Antonio said as he grabbed Mirabel’s arm and ran to the umbrella.
The couple looked at each other, then Mirabel and Antonio once they got to their chairs and stopped right in front of them. She never felt more awkward her entire life, considering the fact that she never had to confront anyone about a missing child before
“Hola; I was wondering if you had a daughter that was about five years old wearing her hair in braids and a little sun hat?”
“Si; is there anything you need?” the woman asked.
“Well, I saw her by the shore crying, and she was scared that she lost you while she went swimming because she couldn’t find you.”
The couple sprang from their chairs. “She’s lost!?” the man asked in shock.
“Not necessarily, my cousin made a trail of seashells in case we also got lost and couldn’t find her while we went back. We can just follow the trail of shells and we should find her.”
The couple smiled at Mirabel and Antonio and got up from their chairs. The four of them followed Antonio's trail of seashells. Antonio led the way and put each seashell back in his pail one by one. The couple felt like they were going at a snail's pace with Antonio stopping to pick up the shells, but Antonio was just excited to put the shells back to show the rest of the family. It was not long before they got to the shore and found the girl sitting at the same place she was when Mirabel and Antonio first saw her. Mirabel walked up to her and tapped her on the shoulder.
"Excuse me, I think we found your mami and papi," Mirabel said.
The girl looked up to see her parents behind Mirabel and Antonio. She stopped crying, smiled excitedly, and got up to run up to them and give them a hug.
"Mami! Papi! I was so scared I couldn't find you!" the girl exclaimed.
"Lo siento, querida; we're sorry that you couldn't find you. We're just happy you're okay," her mother replied.
Not that much later, Julieta and Pepa ran over to Mirabel, Antonio, and the family. "There you two are! We've been looking all over for you!" said Julieta as she gave her youngest daughter a hug.
"We saved lunch for you two since we figured you must be starving! Where were you?" Pepa asked.
"We were about to come back for lunch until we saw this little girl right here crying by the shore. She was lost so we looked for her parents."
"Are these your mamis?" the girl asked.
"Si; this is my mama, Julieta, and my tia, Pepa."
"Let me just tell you how amazing your children are. They saw my daughter crying and their first thought was to find us. You are both amazing mothers that raised your children to have the best hearts," the woman explained.
"I'm Maria, by the way. Gracias again for finding my mami and papi," the girl said.
"I'm Mirabel, and this is my cousin, Antonio."
"Maria, before you leave, I want to give you something," Antonio said as he dug through his pail of shells. He dug through until he found the rare, bright-red, heart-shaped shell he and Mirabel found before finding her. “I know you may never see us again, but I want to give you this to remember us by.”
Maria smiled as Antonio handed her the shell. “It’s the most beautiful shell I’ve ever seen. Gracias, Antonio.”
Julieta and Pepa stared in awe at the shell, along with Maria. “Where did you find that shell?” Julieta asked.
“We found it by the shore. We have no idea where it came from, but we thought it looked cool, so we took it with us,” Mirabel explained.
“Well, we’re going to keep it in a safe place when we get home. Don’t worry, Mirabel and Antonio, we will not forget you after this generous gift,” Maria’s mother said.
“We won’t forget about you either, Maria,” Mirabel replied.
Mirabel and Antonio hugged Maria one more time before they went their separate ways. As Mirabel and Antonio walked back with their mothers, they gave their youngest child one more hug.
“You know how proud we are of you,” said Pepa.
“The fact that you found a lost girl and found her parents for you says so much about both of you as people,” Julieta added.
“Gracias, mami, tia; I really do hope that they really won’t forget about us,” Mirabel replied.
“I’m sure they won’t, they will probably put that heart-shaped shell you gave them in a special box that will open whenever they feel lost,” Pepa explained.
The four of them continued walking back until they found the rest of the family by their lounging spot so Mirabel and Antonio could have their lunch. They told the rest of the family what happened when they collected the shells and told the story of the bright-red, heart-shaped shell that started it all.

Agustin gets buried up to his neck in sand by his nephews (jury’s still out on whether he volunteered for it or made the mistake of taking a nap) Isabela is fascinated by the beach and marine flora and quickly learns how to grow them. Luisa isn’t leaving until she learns how to surf. Staying on the board is a lot harder than she thought! Felix is all about building sand castles with Antonio and lovingly applying sunscreen wherever Pepa asks him to. Dolores happily passes down the childhood myth that you can always hear the ocean inside a shell to Antonio, and helps him find a good one to take home. She also enjoys walking along the shore hand in hand with Mariano. Alma is the one person who goes to the beach fully clothed and just sits there contentedly as she watches everyone else have fun. Camilo helps “improve” Antonio’s sand castle by building it up until it collapses in on itself. Antonio has endless questions for the seagulls and crabs about what it’s like to live at the beach. Julieta goes swimming with Agustin while he washes all the sand off after being buried, and ends up having to treat his jellyfish stings. Pepa becomes aggressively competitive at beach volleyball to the point that she constantly changes the direction of the wind in her favor, and has a small but angry storm when Luisa defeats her. Mirabel is a social butterfly, spending a bit of her time with each family member, but ultimately staying close to her Tio Bruno to coax him out of his shell. Bruno resists the temptation to try having a vision with beach sand, knowing how much a sudden sand storm would annoy the other beachgoers. While he does strip down to swim trunks, he insists on wearing his ruana over them despite how ridiculous he looks. He is content to simply walk along the shore for a bit until the tide rises just enough to soak the bottom half of his ruana. He finally gives up and takes it off. Mirabel takes that as her cue to start pulling him into the water. He resists, both laugh as they struggle, until they are knocked over by a large wave.

Bc of that one AU on TikTok where they're drawing all of the Encanto characters as spider people What I think the Madrigals families spidersonas would be called
Mirabel: Arachne (the Greek mother of spiders)
Isabela: spider-flor (spider flower)
Luisa: Dynasty (It just fits her)
Julieta: Araña(spider in Spanish) /or Athena (the creator of Arachne)
Pepa: Missulena (a type of spider)/ or Requiem (Requiem means an act of remembrance. It'd be in requiem to her father who died for them)
Bruno: Karma (Just like works considering his power)
Dolores: Echo ( there are types of spiders who use echolocation)
Camilo: Goldenrod (goldenrod crab spiders can change their colors similar to a chameleon)
Antonio: Kid widow (He's a kid. He likes Black widows. Nuff said.)

CAMILO MADRIGAL HEADCANONS AGAIN
ik i posted one of these like 10 minutes ago but oh boy do i have so many headcanons for him
mirabel taught him how to paint his nails and now it's something they've become really passionate about
sleeps with like, 7 pillows
makes tiny coat hangers out of paperclips whenever they can find em
kicks ass at just dance and mario kart
can do 17x35 in his head but has to use their fingers to figure out 5+2
he smells really good?? he smells really warm, like melted clover honey and lemon tea
they don't cry easily; if they do, it's usually over something really good
they have a bunch of spotify playlists, and most of them have really questionable names
really into sewing and embroidery and stuff like that
dolores teases him about it, but they know she means well
his favorite flowers are orchids
he can fall asleep literally anywhere, at any time
pepa once found him sleeping on top of the kitchen counter and her jaw just.. dropped
they have a personal vendetta against crabs after one pinched his ear at the beach and wouldn't let go for like, 5 minutes
they always wait until their phone battery hits 1% to plug it in; from then on, it's like a race to see if he can plug his phone in before it dies
mirabel has witnessed him running across the casita in order to plug it in, and then hearing a dismayed groan, realizing that camilo did not make it in time
whenever they get sick, his shapeshifting gets kinda out of whack and it's really funny

Encantober 19 - Otter
Bruno and Mirabel (Modern Celebrity AU edition), G, 257 words
*
“So what you’re saying is there’s no lion here.”
Bruno shook his head and tugged his hat down. Today’s choice was a dark green beanie with a cartoon Pizza Rat patch. Nice and concealing, with the bonus that it warded off the New York autumn chill. Mirabel, meanwhile, was bundled in a scarf and puffer jacket and had insisted they track down hot cocoa as soon as possible. He could already tell she was not going to enjoy her first full winter away from LA.
“Sorry kid. No lions. Gotta go to the Bronx for those, Central Park Zoo’s way too small.”
His niece pouted, then took another sip of her cocoa. They’d found a sunny spot out of the wind and were watching the sea lions. “What about a zebra? Hippos? Giraffes?”
“Nope, nope, and- hang on, you’re thinking of that movie.” He gave her a crooked grin and nudged her with his elbow. “Do I get to be the one to break it to you that Hollywood lies?”
“It does?” Mirabel gasped with mock affront and stared at him. “Does that mean Camilo’s not actually a mutant?”
Bruno chuckled. “Jury’s still out on that, but I thought you’d have figured it out by now since-” he pulled the hat down further, covering his eyes, and continued in Hernando-voice. “I’m not really a crab!”
Mirabel snorted, then stood up. “Nope, just crabby sometimes. C’mon, at least they have penguins. And a lemur.”
“And otters!”
“Otters weren’t in the movie, tío.”
“Nope. But they are cute.”
#encantober#my writing#encanto modern celebrity AU#the writer also lies: no otters at CPZ#trust no one kids#also Hernando the Crab is celeb-Bruno's character in a long-running animated franchise#not at all inspired by some other guy's equally ridiculous animal character

Hello, here a list of animals I think the Madrigals could be
Pepa: Maned Wolf
Julieta: Raccoon(Crab eating)
Félix: Andeas Bear
Dolores: Tawny-Bellied Screech-Owl
Agustín: White Nosed Coati
Bruno: Rufous soft-furred spiny rat
Camilo: Flat Andes Anole* or Humboldt’s squirrel monkey
Alma: Jaguarundi
Antonio: Jaguar(but still a cub of course)
Luisa: Cougar
Mirabel: Maybe a Tayra? (They have bad eyesight)
I am still thinking about Isabela, I think she would be a bird but I haven’t decided which one
Also: I want it to be Colombian animals(like orginally from Colombia or also found there), chameleons actually aren’t native to Colombia which is why I didn’t go for that with Camilo.
