Happy new year! I haven’t had a whole lot of time to draw but here’s some sketches of the sixth :)

pls can we get your most niche tlt headcanons/ canon points you think are too overlooked or unappreciated/ fanon you see too often mistaken for canon/ juicy background bits on the babytrap or skater AU or otherwise.. the ppl are starving

omg this is exactly the treat i deserve after doing so many chores today, im gonna hit all these categories just for funsies

niche tlt headcanon: this is maybe more a theory than a pure headcanon but i think someone in Camilla's direct family line, either a parent or a grandparent, was from outside the Houses. Hect is an arithmonym, but it's not Sixth, it's a prefix meaning 100. as there's no 10th (or 100th) House, i like to think this is meant to indicate that someone in her recent family tree was an outsider! also she's hot enough for the Alexandrites, which suggests at least one of her bio parents or grandparents was hot enough for the Nireids and perhaps scored some out-of-House genetic material to spice up the Sixth's diversity. also Silas questions her eligibility to be cav primary, and since she's brilliant and badass and the Sixth don't base these things on bloodline/inheritance, there's no reason for even a prig like Silas to disqualify her other than some kind of citizenship issue. anybody with at least one Sixth parent is considered Sixth, that's their whole deal, but maybe the Eighth take a dimmer view?

smaller but purer headcanon that has no basis in anything except my gut: i think the "very silly" description of herself that Dulcie sent to Pal and Cam, and the drawing Cam sent back (mentioned in TUG), is a reference to this classic of ancient tumblr

overlooked/underappreciated canon moment: at this point i dont think there's anything i have noticed that i haven't seen at least one person blog about, but one of the tiny little things that gives me shrimp emotions is Gideon in the pool scene, after she's had this intense thing with Harrow, and then Harrow starts waxing about her beloved in the Tomb: "[Harrow's] voice had the quality of someone in a long dream. She stared through Gideon without looking at her, and Gideon gently took her hands away from Harrow's jaw. Instead she sat back in the water, buoyed by the salt, her eyes starting to sting from it." she's suddenly being told that Harrow is into someone else, she assumes these feelings she's been slowly catching are doomed before she can even really examine them, she pulls back from the very intimate position they've just been in, and she has a quiet lil cry about it that she won't even acknowledge in the narration. BUT I KNOW WHAT THAT SALT STINGING YOUR EYES IS GIDEON NAV

fanon you see too often mistaken for canon: GIDEON ISN'T STUPID T^T she's not a himbo jock, she's just a jock who doesn't care about necromancy! she also can't sense it, so she naturally has less information than Harrow about what's going on in GtN. she has a baller vocabulary, she's strategic, she's observant, she's super good at what she does, and she adapts to a completely novel situation VERY quickly.

also? i understand why it's visually more appealing to draw Kiriona with her chussy out, or modern au Gideon showing a lot of skin, i dig it, im hot for her too. but Gideon is canonically shy. she doesn't even take off her robes to duel in GtN, and is so constantly hooded that nobody even knows she's a redhead until halfway through the book. Kiriona is buttoned up to the point of wearing a goddamn ascot to cover her neck hole. i definitely understand au situations where her upbringing was different and so she's a little different, that's part of a good au for me, but it still always crosses my mind when i see her with her shirt wide open or her tummy out or in booty shorts or something. she's hot and she wants everyone to think she knows it, but deep down she does not know it and doesn't really flaunt it, except those guns

juicy background bits on babytrap or skater au: hmmmmm. Kiriona would deny it's the reason she hasn't named the baby, but she IS waiting for Harrow. she doesn't feel like she has the right, and she has complex feelings about both the names her own parents gave her. she has a deep-seated sense that Harrow, who is smart and cares a lot about doing things the right way, will be better suited to this responsibility.

in the figure skating au...a minor character from early in the story is going to be very important in the sequel fic, i think.

she is hypercompetent with the blade only and otherwise absolutely unhinged. she is not emotionally well developed just bc she knows the basics of self regulation and has read a parenting book. she is codependent and self sacrificing to the extreme, she needs her Emotional Support Warden, and despite her critiques of the empire she HAS drunk the cavalier kool-aid and she's on her sixth (or 60th) cup. she only seems like she has it together bc our reference points are Gideon (just wants to have a fun vacation), Harrow (having continuous strokes), and Nona (amesiac planet soul). anyway ❤️ Camilla Hect my beloved

Three ships: Griddlehark, my beloved.. they just rotate in my brain no matter what I'm doing and I'm not ready for the series to end next year. CaitVi because yes. I want my messy blue/red lesbians and I hc Vi (gentle) touch starved af. Camilla Hect and therapy.

First ever ship: I cannot avoid the weird kid allegations anymore: Sonadow (Sonic X Shadow..... yes the hedgehogs).

Last song: Hot by Liili

Last film: Vesper on Netflix. I really liked the world they were presenting with the Citadels and lab-made viruses/diseases/fungi infecting and killing most of the world's wildlife and food. Workers have been replaced with lab-made creatures called Jugs due to them being easier to control so the lower class are struggling to survive outside the Citadels. Vesper is a girl who's self-studying to help make crops fertile again. It was pretty good, I recommend to anyone who fancies something different to watch.

Currently watching: Superstore on Netflix, recommended to me by a friend.

Currently reading: Frontier by Grace Curtis. Keeping with the dystopian themes I love so much; we follow a stranger who's fallen down to Earth in search of (what I assume is) their romantic interest/partner (because it's apparently a romance). The people of Earth now worship the planet itself, which is interesting as some phrases concerning hell have been replaced with space and phrases concerning god have been replaced with goddess (Mother Earth, fuck yeah, god is a woman). It's been interesting so far, but it feels like a story I'd prefer experiencing as a game.

Currently consuming: Tea.

so, my friend came to me because she needed a favor to help sneak into this party and we've already worked once together before so we're a decent team and we found the third from our last kerfuffle and we go to play at this weird party and i think something's going on with my friend because she's being kinda weird, kinda aloof with her answers to my questions but i sure as shit don't have anything better to do so we start to play and i thought that i was just amazing at the harp but fuck, i was able to kinda fake it sorta? anyways we go for a different approach and i turn into a bird because we need to break this light without making it seem like we're trying to break this light and i do but oh no, there's a few people here that probably aren't that pleased to see us parties aren't my thing, apparently so we leave but we're not done finding the information she needs so we try to find another way in and find a cellar because rich people gotta have their weird cellars and it's dark but like whatever, it's night, i'll turn a light on when i'm down there and i go down and whoops.. where the fuck did i go? uh oh. at least i have this dagger that this cute no-longer princess gave to me and if i make it out of here alive, i absolutely am going to ask her out. (dnd. i played dnd. sending all my love to our incredible dm and my friends with their characters for making this the most enjoyable part of my week ♡)

Cristabel was the picture of holier-than-thou piety to the point of fanaticism. Think Bev Keane from Midnight Mass, but also a 6 foot albino.

Favorite houses: sixth definitely. What can I say I'm a huge nerd. Also the fifth (again, nerd who loves fancy parties)

Favorite book: Harrow the Ninth my beloved.

Four favorites: Camilla Hect (my beloved), Harrowhark, Gideon, Dulcinea (please let her be in Alecto I need her to meet Paul)

Favorite ship: Cam/Pal/Dulcie. I do think that in canon Cam is aroace but any interpretation of those three works for me.

Favorite scene: Not a scene but NtN chapter 28 where Nona and Gideon speak and then Pyrrha is there and then the sixth house and then Paul. There was a day I just re-read that chapter like 4 times and then had to go for an hour long walk about it.

Another favorite scene: That entire section where Gideon is in Harrow's body and just writing love letters to her. Legitimately the most romantic shit I've ever read.

Also Go Loud is a good candidate for an actual favourite scene.

Favorite quote: "You can't take loved away"

But also "Hell no! I'm going to pull your whole ass off" never fails to make me laugh.

Ok I'm half-way through the audiobook of Harrow the Ninth and I've decided that I need to start liveblogging it because I'm internally screaming about it all the time

So Harrow the Ninth spoilers ahead (and all will be tagged as such)

Some thoughts up to this point:

- Harrow. Harrow. Baby. I think you're haunted

- Mercymorn dropping Harrows age every time kills me, she's terrible and I love her

- Ianthe you utterly terrible person you. Honestly tho I super admire Tamsyn Muir for keeping around the one character that feels kind of despicable?? Like I do not like her, but I also sort of like her, and I admire that it's not one of the easy characters to love (like Palamedes, for me) that she kept around

- WHAT IS GOING ON I AM SO CONFUSED ABOUT EVERYTHING

- the necromancy in this one is *fascinating*, it so neat seeing it from Harrow's side

- also, the bits about the face paint and cloak/veil being religious clothing was something that didn't really sink in for me when listening to Gideon the Ninth? But its really highlighted from Harrow's POV and it's fantastically done

- The "Is this really how it happened?" etc is so sad to me every time

- I also find all the little signs of Gideon that remain even tho Harrow has erased her from her memory absolutely fascinating

- Gideon my beloved I miss you

- Ortus the Ninth is just so sad

- Ortus (????) the first please stop trying to kill Harrow, but also, if you've sworn to protect the emperor and Harrow has opened the Locked Tomb which is supposed to lead to his downfall I understand *why* you're trying to kill her

- audiobook specific: I dislike the voice of John/God immensely, it sounds like a terrible old man - which I suppose he is - but I still do not like :(

- that said I love John and I love that he gives Harrow cookies and tea and I want him and his necromancers to be happy forever
