What I actually came here to say is I started reading a darker shade of magic three days ago and I can’t stop. 160 pages in rn and I gotta say I owe Holland an apology bc when he showed up and started acting all sketchy towards the prince I had NO IDEA what kind of bullshit he is dealing with in his own universe.

Like booktok thinks Cardan has problems with his shitty brother?? Wait until they hear about those psychopaths at the white London (if that’s not the name in English nevermind me, I’m translating)????

I am SCARRED.

But if you ask me from a writing standpoint I will say I find it a fascinating parallel to the conflicting thoughts Kell currently has about himself and the royal family, and how his kind are seen more as goods than actual people. What happened to Holland is the perfect example of the life he could be leading if his king and queen were a little less nice.

That said I am also curious if Holland’s flirting with the prince comes from himself, or if he’s being ordered to do that as well, and the implications of it. I’m horrified. And fascinated. Can’t wait to read more tomorrow.

on a lark i decided to powerscale all my ocs ive ever had that i can think of and i think it boils down to

mia (i think my only normal no-powers human oc. she just has social anxiety and a tricked out racecar)

feathers (catgirl dragon cultist from a ttrpg campaign)

bionicle ocs (definitely powerful since theyre made of metal and muscle and have magic masks and big weapons. but their elemental powers only work inside the big robot so theyre a bit nerfed)

all my freeform fetish roleplay ocs from when i was in my late teens/early 20s (various types of powerful monsters and mages)

transformers ocs (nigh-immortal shapeshifting metal aliens with a range of biodiversity so strange and immense you can almost classify it as individually contextual. this post was about them btw)

cami (mage of time homestuck oc with a savior complex and both the reality breaking means and the suicidal drive to act on it)
