When I was a kid I always wanted a dog (and I still really want one to be honest) but my parents never let me have one. They said “When you’ll have your own house or flat, you can buy whatever you want into it. But as long as you are living here, you can’t have a dog.” I was really sad about it so I looked for alternatives. There are a lot of websites dedicated for such things. One of the most famous Hungarian version of these is TeveClub (CamelClub) which is about raising camels and making them learn tricks which you can later play with them as mini-games. There are/were a lot of other alternatives like the one you could raise a ton of dogs with, or have fighters and make them fight with other players. There were even things like Trabi Nevelde (Trabant Raiser) where you could tune Trabants and race them, and to mention a gross one, there was the one where you could raise shit. Literally shit. Some people have “different” concepts of the ideal pet. Well looking back, I had several dogs and about two camels which are pretty much dead by now. In comparison, my flatmates have kept alive their camels which are more than 11 years old. It is a great achivement I think, my online pets never made it to be more than even half year old. Let’s have a look at Facebook too. It will be full of deceased people in approximately 30 years. Like a mass grave of the internet - not to mention Myvip and other social sites that died after the release of Facebook. Of course people usually close the account of the dead relatives, or at least put “Memorial” next to the name or something to indicate that the person is no longer with us. At least Facebook does not send e-mails to you about your dead ones, like CamelClub did back in the days. It would be pretty morbid and inappropriate.
