Hey uhh alterhumans of tumblr, is there a term where you fluctuate between identifying as something (otherkin/therian) and just feeling connected to something (otherhearted). Basically is there a term like fictionflicker but for therians/otherkins? Thanks for the help fellow critters :D

Cambitherian -- Newly Coined Alterhuman Term

A new term has been invented: Cambitherian/Cambikin/Cambiheart! It is used to describe the state of alterhumanity in which one's connection to their therio/kin/hearttypes fluctuates between therian and animalhearted/otherkin and otherhearted. The shift in strength of connection is involuntary, sometimes occuring because of stress or emotions. Phantom shifts or other shifts are not the cause of this, and the fluctuation in identity does not affect shifts. The change in connection does not affect what your therio/kin/hearttypes are, only how you connect to them. The flag displays a symbol which is a combination of the therian symbol, and the otherheart symbol. The silver represents fluidity, the blue represents spirituality, the purple represents transformation or change, and the gray represents balance.

(some of these terms can be considered under the nonhumans or alterbeing umbrella, it depends on the experiences of the individual)

otherkin: an otherkin unvolontarily identifies as a imaginary creature with more or less characteristics similar to humans such as the use of a complex and evolved language to communicate, more or less primitive civilization, etc. This is most often a non-physical identity, but some otherkins are physical otherkins.

theriomythic: A theriomythic unvolontarily identifies itself as a imaginary animalistic being. It is often considered a subcategory of therians.

therian: a therian unvolontarily identifies itself as an animal. This is most often a non-physical identity, but some therians are physical therians.

fictionkin: a fictionkin unvolontarily identifies as a character, species, magic, from a fiction.

Note: if a fictionkin identifies as a very animalistic creature from a fiction they can choose to call themselves theriomythic or fictionkin or even both at the same time

plantkin: a plantkin unvolontarily identifies as a plant or as partially a plant. I don't know if there are physical plantkins, there must be.

naturesoul (new term): a naturesoul identifies as the primordial soul, that which is found in all living beings. This is a fairly complex term, so you can ask the creator of this term, tamashii--0--naturanimae.

otherlink: an otherlink chooses to identify as an animal(animallink)/creature(otherlink)/ object(objectlink)/ect for any reason.

funlink: a funlink chooses to identify as an animal/creature/plant/etc for fun, to test new things. This is a subcategory of otherlink.

copinglink: a copinglink voluntarily choosing to identify itself as an animal/creature/plant/concept/ect to face difficult life situations. This is a subcategory of otherlink

copingkin: a copingkin unintentionally identifies as an animal/creature/ect to cope with difficult life situations.

otherhearted/otherkith/synpath: an otherkith has a huge connection with an animal (animalkith) or/and a creature (otherkith), a fictional character/species (fictionkith), ect.

cambikin/cambiheart: individual whose identity fluctuates between a kin identity and a kith identity. The cambitype does not change (there may be exceptions ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯)

Obviously there are even more terms, but I can't define them all in one post (sorry to all the conceptkin, kinmyth, songkin, constelics, objectkin and to all those I haven't mentioned)

I'm a furry, humanflux, polytherian, octherian (one theriotype), fictotherian (one theriotype), quadrobist, polyhearted (not only animals), cambi (some cambitypes), and polykin (ockin fictionkin objectkin creature/monsterkin aikin codekin and others). I am also aldernic, desirdae, dissomei, and emsoul.

this doesn't mean you are "actually not kinning then" if anything it means your fictionkin identity is fluid or more so, fluctuating. Also feeling more connected to certain ones more then others and sometimes none depending on your mood seems very legit of a thing. (Actually I kinda feel this way too. Like also with being genderfluid, and my mood seems to influence my gender and what kintypes I'm most connected with also. And other ways around. It's all connected for me. So nah, doesn't make you "not actually kinning" if anything look into the label cambihearted which might fit, but it was made as a label for a animalhearted/therian label...but similar concept. Although you did say a disconnect from it not a stop of identity-casion so maybe not fiction hearted but just not really being it at the moment. Maybe look at genderflux because that is a fluctuating identity and maybe you could call yourself fitcionkinflux or otherflux. It prob wouldn't be hard to find someone to make a flag, or you could if flag making is something you like doing. (Of course you don't need to create a label for this, just putting it out there, do whatever you feel comfortable with, but know your not alone or "not actually fictionkin to the point you can't use the label if you like it")

sometimes I feel like a fraud cuz I don’t always feel 100% connected to my kins and I kinda slip in and out of them usually depending on my mental state and idk if that means I’m not actually kinning or what so like.
