I went to see the Adamastor

This place, the Alto de Santa Catarina is probably my favourite spot in Lisbon. It has a beautiful view and not one, but three literary connections.

First is the Adamastor, from Luís de Camões’s “Os Lusíadas”. Then, the fact that in José Saramago’s “O Ano da Morte de Ricardo Reis” this is where Ricardo Reis lives by the end of the book. On top of that, Ricardo Reis is one of Fernando Pessoa’s most famous heteronyms. It’s just awesome.
