my theory for calum calling every vaguely tartan skirt a kilt is that’s what his parents told him when he had to wear Mali’s hand me downs being like ‘you’re scottish, be proud’ but really you don’t always have the extra cash to buy shorts for a growing boy when there are perfectly good skirts right there
#and then he never stopped being scottish and proud and vaguely incorrect#calum hood#mali-koa hood#5sos#5 seconds of summer#he got shorts for soccer though#is it just me or were clothes a lot less strictly gendered in the early 2000s?#I remember the weird stuff I used to wear back then#but it could’ve been my parents playing it safe in case my youngest sister was a boy#and only buying things on clearance

calum thomas hood
summary: everyone knows about the crush you and calum have on each other, but still, the two off you brush it off. calum thinks hiding his feelings by acting differently will help him get over you, but it doesn't.
cw! swearing!
eight years.
part two!
december had quickly approached by, which meant soon it would be everyone's favourite holiday: christmas.
this year, you had decided to tag along to a ski retreat with ashton, mali-koa, and your absolute favourite person in the world- calum hood.
you had first heard about this weekend trip on thanksgiving, when everyone had gathered round michael's to celebrate his newborns' first thanksgiving.
after your interest was peaked, you decided to ask if you could tag along, and ashton and mali jumped with joy accepting, whereas calum stayed stone-cold.
so nearly a month had passed, the car that was parked outside your house, honking impatiently.
"fuck" you muttered as you sat on your suitcase, hoping to press down some of the weight. your hands pulled at the zipper, you let out a sigh as you continued to tug on it.
"you're gonna break it" a deep, familiar voice says from behind you. you turn your head, meeting calum's soft eyes as he leant against the door frame with a cigarette in his hand.
"can you make yourself useful then, and help?" you sneer as you throw your hands up in the air. calum chuckles before he walks past you. his steps stop once he reaches your window. he takes his cigarette from between his lips and burns it out before tossing it outside.
"move" he nods his head to the side.
you sigh as you stand up from the suitcase, taking the same position on your bed.
your eyes observe calum as he kneels down beside your suitcase, "you sure there's nothing you can avoid taking?" he asks as you he lifts up the top of the case.
your eyes fall onto calum as he lingers a stare on your clothing that lay at the top; swimsuits and your underwear.
flustered, you reach over and shut the top of the case, "nope"
calum shakes his head before muttering something under his breath. he places a heavy hand on the top of the case, forcefully pushing down as his other hand found the zipper. in a swift movement, his hand pulls around the case, zipping it close.
"easy" calum retorts. he stands up and lifts the suitcase up onto its' wheels, "can we go now?" he asks, you nod before thanking him. the two of you make your way out of your house, and you lock it from the outside before catching up to calum.
he sets your suitcase in the trunk before the two of you take a seat in his car.
the journey to the resort was a quiet one. you tried lightening the mood by humming along to the radio, but once you saw calum giving you a glance, you settled your lips in between your lips, feeling embarrassed.
the only talking he did throughout the drive was when mali, his sister had rang him. letting him know that her and ashton had bought the food shop and had made it to the cabin you were all staying at.
what had felt like hours, the two of you had finally arrived.
"what took you guys so long?" mali exclaims, opening up the front door wide. "someone wanted starbucks" calum rolls his eyes before walking past his sister with both his and yours' suit cases in his hands.
"i got it for everyone!" you retort, setting the cup holder down on the table in the hallway before hugging mali.
ashton then comes running into the hug as he wraps his arms around you both.
"come on, cal" mali shouts over her brother. "no, thanks" he mutters. "calum thomas hood, if you don't get your ass over here right this second, i'll show everyone that picture of you dressed up as a bratz doll" mali rambles but as soon as she threatened calum he came jogging over beside you and ashton.
you turned your head slightly and held your arm out to calum. his eyes flicker between your arm and your eyes before letting out a sigh.
he moves his gaze over to his sister, giving her a death stare. his arm hovers over the small of your back whilst his other arm tightly wraps around ashton's shoulder.
the four of you stand there laughing before pulling away. "that was cute," mali giggles, picking up a cup of coffee from the table.
your move your eyes over to calum, "d'know what would be even cuter?" you ask him. "what?" he snaps back. "you dressed as a bratz doll" you giggle, taking small steps towards him.
you let your hand rise to his hair, your fingers combing his hair. he looks at you, embarrassed. his cheeks turning a deep red. once you realize what you were doing, you quickly retract your hand back, dropping it to your side.
"shit, sorry. i don't know what-" you began to ramble, "it's fine, " he huffs. you nod awkwardly before trying to change the conversation.
"so room situations?" you ask as you look over at mali. "there's three rooms" mali begins. "and only one master suite" she finishes as she nods her head over at calum.
"so?" calum asks, shrugging his shoulders. "you're gonna have to share, calum"
"fuck, no. you take the suite and share with her" calum shakes his head. "stop being difficult calum, besides i've unpacked my stuff already," mali exclaims. calum looks over at ashton, "c'mon mate" ashton speaks up. "i'm totally fine on the couch" you pipe up as you twiddle with the rings on your fingers.
"it's fine" calum says once again, "you're with me, i guess" he let's out a sigh as he grabs the suitcases, trekking them up the stairs. "come on, then"
"coming!" you hurry up the stairs, following him into the master suite.
"we should set some ground rules." calum starts. "good idea," you return. "you have that half of the room, and i'll get this half." calum points at the opposite side of the room, letting you know which side yours was.
"seriously?" you raise your eyebrows at him. he nods his head, shaking his head to the side. "calum, that's so stupid. we're not kids"
"fine, what rules did you have? he asks. "i dress here, you in the ensuite. i want the side of the bed closest to the window and no bringing anyone back here cause i don't want to walk in on anything that you're up to" you list.
"is that everything, princess?" he curtseys in front of you with a sarcastic tone, and his eyes stay glued to you as he does so.
you put up your middle finger, aiming it towards him, he simply rolls his eyes.
"we should unpack"
whilst the two of you were finishing up unpacking, mali called you both down for dinner.
the four of you sat around the fireplace, pizza boxes scattered around you all as you sat and watched 'gilmore girls', the boys complaining at every chance they had.
whilst absent-mindedly watching the tv, you reached for the last pizza slice in the box. once you had felt another's hand already on the slice, you jerked your hand away.
"take it," you look over at calum, who had now moved his hand away, nodding his head over at the slice.
"no it's fine, it's yours." you shake your head before letting your eyes fall on the tv again. "just take it, y/n," you hear him say, but you simply shake your head to the side, keeping your eyes on the tv.
calum sighs before picking up the slice, which you saw out of your peripheral eyesight.
seconds later, you see him open his palm out to you, "here, take it" he says. you look down at his palm the see that he had tore the pizza in half.
you hear ashton say something in the background which made calum roll his eyes, "take it y/n, i made it fair" he shrugs. you give him a nod before taking one of the halves out of his hand, "thanks cal"
after finishing up, the four of you decided to play some card games, which led to every game being won by mali.
"what can i say, i'm older so i'm wiser." she smiles proudly. the three of you chuckle at her as she takes a bow.
"well, tonight's been fun guys" you pipped up, standing up from the floor, which you were seated on.
"i'm gonna get some sleep for tomorrow" you say, "make sure you guys set your alarms" mali exclaims, "yes mom" you roll your eyes playfully at her.
"goodnight guys," you smile. "i'll be up soon" calum says. you give him a nod before making your way into your shared room.
you lock the bedroom door behind you before pulling out a pyjama set; an oversized black tee and some short, baggy, grey shorts.
you headed over to ensuite, pulling your hair up in a messy bun on the top of your head, strands falling onto your face, to help frame your face.
you then washed your face and patted it dry before beginning to brush your teeth.
as you brushed around the toothpaste in your mouth, you heard a lazy knock to the door. knowing it was calum, you headed to the door, unlocking it.
"hey" he says, dropping his phone on the bed. with you not being able to reply with the toothpaste in your mouth, you gave him a small wave before returning back to the ensuite.
you once again shut the door, thinking he would change into his pyjamas.
once you had finished brushing your teeth, you called out to calum, "can i come in, cal?" you ask.
"yep" you hear him say, with that you open the door to see him already laid in bed.
he pulls the covers over himself, but before he does so, you scan his body to see what he's wearing: a black tank top and grey joggers.
you walk around to your side of the bed, slipping under the covers.
you laid on your back as you stared at the ceiling. the room was dark, but with the small lights from the window coming in, you could see calum in the same position as you.
you felt your eyes becoming heavy as you closed them. you had felt like you were falling asleep until you heard your phone ringtone blare out. "shit, sorry," you apologise as you scramble out of the bed to grab your phone of the table.
you checked your phone to see crystal calling you, and you slipped out the room, shutting the door behind you. but you stayed in front of the door as you answered her call.
"y/n, how was the drive?" she asks, "mali mentioned you came with calum" you giggled at the thought of mali and crystal talking about you and calum.
"yes, we did. it made sense to just take one car" you whisper. "has calum made a move yet?" she squeals. you furrow your eyebrows, "what'd you mean, made a move, crys?" you ask.
"what do you mean, what do i mean? this is so obvious y/n, " she starts, "everyone knows about you and calum, " she ends. "babe, there is no me and calum, i'm pretty sure he hates me," you pipe up. you hear crystal cracking up on the other side of the phone. "y/n, surely you've noticed how he acts around you"
"like friends?" you question. "ask mali, she'll back me up" crystal says.
you try ending the conversation as soon as you can, wanting to not talk about this topic. and you definitely weren't going to ask mali either about her thoughts. that would be embarrassing.
after ending the call, you made your way back into the bedroom, tiptoeing back to your side the bed. just in case calum had fell asleep.
you slip under the covers, placing your back against the mattress again. "was it crys?" calum asks. you look over at him and watch his biceps flex as he tucks his hands behind his head.
you hum in response, "is she okay?" his voice laced with concern. "she's all good cal, baby and mike too," you answer, and you feel his head nod.
"goodnight y/n"
"goodght cal"
it was now the next day, you had woken up to bright flash to your eyes.
you stirred in a warm embrace, nuzzling your head into the pillow.
"look how cute" mali's voice is heard in the room. you blinked open your eyes as you took in your surroundings.
shit! your hand was hung loosely around calum's bicep, your calf slightly tangled with his leg, and your head was nuzzled in his neck.
you brushed yourself off of him, causing him to stir, "what's happening?" calum asks, his voice hoarse and croaky.
"nothing!" you say quickly. a bit too quickly.
mali giggles before turning her phone around, showing you both the picture she had taken, you noticed calum had his head on yours, one hand still behind his head whilst his other laid dangerously low on your back.
you felt your cheeks growing red as you turned away from them both. calum clears his throat before sitting up on the bed.
"me and ashton are heading to the slopes, you guys woke up late so we'll meet you there" mali informs the both of you, you give her a nod before you watch her leave.
"i'm sorry" he apologizes. you shake your head as you look at him, "no that was on me, i was on your side of the bed, shit i'm sorry" you ramble.
calum follows suit and shakes his head, "it's not that deep, right?" he asks. "of course, not" you faked a smile before excusing yourself to the ensuite.
maybe everything crystal had said to you yesterday was getting in your head, making you unconsciously act out.
you tried brushing off the feelings, but you couldn't. you started replaying times when you and calum were together and the little things he used to do. you always thought he hated you, but maybe he didn't?
"you nearly done in there?" you hear calum ask from the other side. "just a few minutes" you call out. you snap out of your thoughts and start brushing your teeth before washing your face.
you walk back into the room, beelining straight to the wardrobe. as your hands were occupied with finding an outfit, your eyes sneakily fell on calum before he entered the ensuite, locking the door.
"fuck" you muttered, letting out a heavy breath that you didn't notice you were holding in.
once you had found an outfit suitable to the cold, you applied some light makeup: blush, mascara, and lip balm.
you then called out to calum, letting him know you'd be waiting for him downstairs. whilst making your way downstairs, you pulled your phone out of your jacket pocket, dialling crystal's number.
she answered after the first dial, "i need your help, i'm going crazy. like i don't want to be dealing with these feelings right now crys, i don't know what the fuck is happening to me. one minute, i think he's a jerk, and then the more i start thinking about him, i get butterflies in my stomach, and they hurt crys, it fucking hurts" you rambled over the phone, not even allowing her a moment to speak.
"say something," finally reaching downstairs, you take a seat on the couch, awaiting for a response. "are you okay?" your eyes widened when you recognized the voice over the phone as not crystal's.
"perfectly fine, mike." your cheeks turning into a deep rep shade, "where's crys?" you ask, a nervous laugh coming following suit.
"she's out with sierra, she left her phone at home," michael says. "oh okay, well, no need to let her know i called, but i should be going now," you try to hurry the conversation to an end.
"okay, no worries" he says, "y/n?" he says quickly after. "are you sure you're okay?" he asks. you let out a little sigh, "i'll be fine"
"ready to go?" calum says running down the stairs, he stands at the end of the stair, looking over at you. you give him a nod, "one sec" you mouth to him.
"i have to get going, mike. i'll see you soon. " you finish off the call after hearing michael saying his goodbyes.
"is he okay?" calum asks you, as he watches you now walking over. he give him a nod. "we should probably get going, it's like a twenty minute walk" calum informs you.
"can't we take your car?" you ask, frowning your lips. "we can't, there's no cars allowed up there" he says. "but we can take a cable car?"
the two of you stood in line for one of the cable cars. it wasn't busy, so you both managed to get a cable car for the both of you.
you both sat on opposite sides to each other. looking down, you watched as the cable car left the tunnel, your eyes widening at the extreme height.
"is this a bad time to say i'm terrified of heights?" your eyes find calum's soothing brown ones as you nervously place your bottom lip in between your lips.
"just don't look down, okay," his voice soothing, he leans forward slightly, watching as you twist the rings on your fingers. you nod your head at the advice.
but you felt your chest becoming too hurt as you exhaled heavier breaths. "hey, you're gonna be okay" he quickly rushes over to your side, sitting beside you. "sit back" he says and so you do.
he let's one of his hands cup your cheeks, "just look at me, focus on my breathing, okay?" and so you start following his breathing pattern. once you had calmed down, you realized calum's thumb rubbing circles on your cheeks.
you looked up at him before glancing at his hand that was still on your cheek. he quickly let go, clearing his throat, to help fill the silence.
"we're here" he spoke in monotone, whilst looking out the glass.
he stands up, waiting for the doors to open, you follow behind him as he walks out.
the exit tunnel was extremely overcrowded, which hinted at the fact that the slopes would be busy.
"c'mere" calum says, reaching out for you hand, pulling you against his chest as he lead you both out of the exit tunnel.
your body melted against him, his chest pressing into your back, making you weak in your knees. his hands settled on your waist as he guided you.
once the two of you had finally left the tunnel, you were both met with the brightest snow on the slopes.
"let's go look for the others," calum says as he pulls himself away from you. your lips turned into a small frown at the loss of warmth. not wanting him to see you, you quickly plastered a smile on your lips before giving him a nod.
after minutes of searching, the two of you had regrouped with mali and ashton. the four of you decided to have some hot chocolates from one of the pop-ups. so whilst ashton and calum went to go buy them, you and mali sat at a table.
you noticed mali giving you a wide grin, "what?" you giggled. "nothing," you could tell she was lying, so you simply just raised an eyebrow up at her.
"it's just you and calum -" she starts, but you quickly stop her. "i feel awkward talking to you about this. he's your brother." you shake your head.
she opens her mouth to start speaking again but gets interrupted by ashton and calum, placing the hot chocolates down on the table.
calum takes a seat beside you whilst ashton sits besides mali.
the four of you make mindless conversations whilst sipping on your hot chocolates.
after what was around an hour, ahston and mali decided the wanted to ski down the slopes.
"you guys wanna join?" ashton asks. "you guys go ahead, i'll watch you three," calum gives you a quick glance, "i'll stay with you" he says before finishing off his drink. "we'll find something else to do," he says.
you quickly shake your head, "no cal, you should go, i don't want you to miss out" you argue. "no, i don't even want to ski, we'll go find something else, okay?" he asks. "are you sure?" you ask him and he responds with a nod.
"we'll see you guys later then" ashton says. "let us know if you end up going back to the cabin" mali says before running off to catch up with ashton.
"so what'd you wanna do?" you ask calum.
"sleigh ride?" he raises his eyebrow whilst asking you. "that's sounds perfect!" you squeal.
so the two of you make your way over to the sleigh carriages, taking a seat in an unoccupied one.
the two of you sit back whilst you watch the reindeers start to take small steps forward.
"so, have you always been scared of heights?"
you turn your head to look at calum, "not always, but as i got older, i guess i got sacred of the lack of stability and control" you say, "sorry that was a bit deep" you giggle. calum gives you a smile in return.
as the forty minute sleigh ride went on, the more the two of you talked, on a personal and connected level.
ashton and mali had also made their way back up to you guys.
"it was honestly so fun!" you exclaim as you tell ashton and mali about the sleigh ride. you notice calum's lips turning into a smile as he watched you ramble about how good the sleigh ride was.
"cal" mali exclaims, trying to regain calum back in from his daydreaming. calum replies with a hum. "what did we always do up here when we were younger?" she smiles as she jumps up and down on the spot.
calum rolled his eyes playfully, "snow angels" he chuckles. "come on, everyone!" she announces as she falls back onto the snow, letting her arms and legs push around the snow as she flaps them in the snow.
the three of you follow suit as now the four of you create snow angels.
once the shape was imprinted in the snow, mali and ashton rose back to their feet, and you once again followed shortly behind them. "need a hand," you giggle as you watch calum, struggling to get up.
he hums as he reaches for your hand. before you know it, you feel him tug on your hand, making you fall forward and on top of him.
your face inches apart as your hands now lay on his hard chest. you look up to his eyes as he looks down at yours. he places his hand on the low of your back.
"hey" he smiles. "hi" you smile back. "y-y/n" he whispered, and you hummed in response.
"get a room!" ashton chuckles. you notice calum bite his cheek before opening his mouth again, "you're on me," he says. "oh, yeah, shit, sorry," you rambled as you quickly found your stance back onto your feet, brushing of the snow that was on your clothes.
"what the-" you begin to say as you feel something being thrown at you. you turn around to see mali throwing snow balls at you. you giggled before bending down to create a ball of snow in your hands.
you stood back up and threw it on her back.
"snowball fight!" ashton called out.
and there, the four of you were throwing snowballs at each other.
after throwing multiple at ashton and mali, you decide to throw some at calum. so you had two snowballs in your hand, about to throw them in calum's direction, but before you could, you felt a heavy weight being thrown to your head, making you trip over your feet.
"fuck! are you okay?" you hear calum say, panic in his voice, as he rushes over to your side.
you brought your hand to your head as you rubbed it. "it's hurts" you winced. "i'm so sorry" he repeats as he brings his hand over yours, rubbing the place he had hit you with the snowball.
he then moved my hand from it, letting his lips leave a small kiss on the area. "i should take her back" calum says as he helps you up on your feet. you shake your head, "i'll be fine"
despite saying you were fine, calum still made you go back to the cabin with him. you told mali and ashton to stay out still and to still keep having fun.
the journey back to the cabin was pretty much quiet except when you were back in the cable car, you felt your head starting to pound so you winced from the pain and calum had asked you if you were okay.
once you had gotten back, you went straight into the bedroom and got changed, calum doing the same in the bathroom.
you were sat in the bed as you massaged the side of your head.
"how're you feeling?" calum asks as he enters back into the room, this time with a tracksuit on.
"i'll be fine, calum," you shake your head as you look up at him. you watched as he walked over to your side of the bed, kneeling down in front of you.
he didn't say anything, just simply looked up at you as his hand cupped your cheek, his thumb creating shapes on your cheek.
"you confuse me" you scoff as you catch his eyes with yours.
"what do you mean?" he asks as he rises from his knees.
"i thought we were getting along on this trip, cal. i thought you were lossening up around me. i thought you had dropped your jerk act, but as soon as you do, you put it back on again. why? why won't you let in?" you let your hand intertwine with his, tugging on it, making him take a seat beside you on the bed. which he did.
"how long have we known each other for, y/n?" calum ask, you furrow your eyebrows, "eight years"
"eight years, it's been y/n" he starts. "eight years of me being completely and utterly infatuated with you. eight years of me wanting you for myself, eight years of having you consume my every thought. eight years of knowing i couldn't be with you because i don't deserve you, eight years' worth of songs that were written about you because i couldn't bring myself to tell you how i'd felt"
whilst he was expressing his feelings, you noticed at some point he had reached for you hands, he was looking down at them, twiddling with them.
"i thought if i could try distance myself away from you by acting the way i have, it would hurt less but fuck it hasn't" he sighs.
he looks up into your eyes, "can i be selfish for a second?" he asks as his eyes flicker to your lips.
you nod as you watch him lean into your lips, placing a delicate kiss on them.
he moves his hands, so he's cupping your cheeks, "i've wanted to do that for so long"
"i wish you told me" you shake your head. "i'm sorry y/n about everything," he says as he rests his forehead against mine.
"it took you eight years calum" you begin, "let's not make its nine, okay?" you nod before letting your lips catch his.
a/n: i wanted to extend this, but i didn't want this to be too long, so it'll be either be a part two to this or i might change it a little bit to be its own work to be different but regardless it'll be the next post.
also this took me forever to writeee :'(

tuesday
“Y/N got help, Calum, with the dishes.” Your mom nods toward the kitchen as she cleans off the dining table. You hum a response, grabbing your plate before you make your way into the kitchen.
“I’ve come to the rescue.” Calum chuckles at your words, glancing in your direction with a smile. “My savior
You smile, setting your dishes in the sink. “You can go ahead and start drying them, love.” you nod, taking a dish cloth and drying the clean culturally, the metal cool in your hands.
You stand in silence for a moment. It’s not uncomfortable, but something indescribable builds in the air between you two. He can sense that you’re thinking about something. His hip nudges yours as his hands scrub pasta sauce off of a plate, his arms flexing as the veins in his hand become more propionate. “What are you thinking about? I can partly hear the wheels in your head turn.”
It’s a simple question, but you can feel your skin heat up and your core throb as you press your legs together.
I’m thinking of you. You bending me over the countertop as your wet hands kneed my skin. Calloused fingertips pushing past the hem of my panties with ease. The feeling of your five-o’clock shadow against my inner thigh. Fucking into me, hot and slow.
You shake your head, shrugging, and bite back a smile, “Nothing.”
The house is quiet as you move through it. Cold hardwood pressing to the balls of your feet, soon met with concrete as you walk outside. The moon cast a bright glow on your skin, filling you with calm and energy as you walked towards the pool.
Tossing your towel onto one of the pool chairs, you strip the clothes from your body. Nipples pebble, goosebumps spreading along your skin as you step into the water. You hummed, letting the warm water consume you as you lazily swam through it.
You heard the deck door open and shut up with a loud click. You quickly swam to the pool’s edge, trying to hide your bare body as you blinked the water from your eyes, the figure still blurry in the distance.
“What are you doing out here? It’s one in the morning.” Cal’s voice settles familiar in your ears, causing a wave of embarrassment mixed with euphoria down your spine.
“Just a late night swim,” You rest your chin against the edge of the pool, concert rough against the skin.
He cocks his brow, sitting on the edge of one of the pool chairs. “You always were a weirdo.” He shakes his head, tapping his pack of cigarettes against his thigh before pulling one out and placing it between his lips. “But you love me.” You smile, pushing yourself off the edge of the pool.
“Could you throw me the towel?” He tosses it to you before cupping his hand to cover the cig as he lights it, the small flame casting a warm glow onto his skin.
You say a small thank you, grabbing the towel as you make your way to the steps of the pool, wrapping it around you as you make your way out of the water. You wrap the towel tighter around your bare body, fully realizing the situation that you’re in. Naked. In front of the guy, you’ve been in love with your whole life.
He takes a long drag off his cigarette, dark eyes landing on yours. You clear your throat, skin prickling with heat under his gaze. “Can I have one?”
“You?” he chuckles, smoke slipping between his lips. “Have you ever even smoked before?”
You shift in your seat, the cold plastic sticking slightly to your wet thighs. “No, but what does that matter? God, stop acting like my brother.” You shove his arm gently, biting back a smile.
He laughs gently. “Sorry, sorry.” taking another drag. “Why don’t you shotgun it first?”
“Okay.” your words are quite as Calum moves next to you, warmth radiating off his body as he takes another long pull off the cig, letting it settle in his chest for a moment before he cups your face. Calloused hands on your skin, making your hair stand on edge. Your lips part as smoke slips past Calum’s, the queue for you to slowly inhale.
The warmth of his body, mixed with the unfamiliar menthol feeling, makes you feel light-headed. Your arms wrap around Calum’s neck, closing the gap between your bodies. “Y/N..” he breathes out before you connect your lips. It’s soft and hesitant until he slowly melts into you. Strong arms wrapping around your waist, pulling you even closer.
He tastes like smoke and mint, consuming all your senses as your hand slips up his shirt. He quickly pulls away, breath hitched and lips slightly plump from friction. “Y/N, I, we… We can’t do this. I’m sorry.”
He stands quickly, shaky hands stubbing out the cig. His mouth opens, trying to find the right thing to say, but nothing comes out. He briefly looks at you, eyes dark, before walking back into the house.
The familiar click of the deck door settled the reality of it all. You’re an idiot, and he doesn’t feel the same.

Miles Edgeworth's Unnecessary Feelings
For all your wistful longing lawyer love! Yes, there can be a lot of joy in Narumitsu/Wrightworth, but this is before they get to be happy. This music, it's all for the unrequited love, you see.
(Oh, and minor sidebar, one of these songs is legitimately my wedding song and what I named my blog after. So that's neat.)
Love Like You - Rebecca Sugar / Steven Universe

Tonight, Tonight - The Smashing Pumpkins
Northern Sky - Nick Drake
Iris - Goo Goo Dolls
Show Me What I'm Looking For - Carolina Liar

Boston - Augustana (just pretend this is 'Berlin' instead for me ok)
The Moments In Between - The Reign of Kindo
Somewhere Only We Know - Keane
Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd (chosen almost entirely for the lines about being 'two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl/year after year'. pls put this on your aesthetic boards i beg you)

Falling Slowly - Glenn Hansard, Markéta Irglová
Such Great Heights - Iron and Wine
Skinny Love - Birdy

Sunshine expected something explosive, the gritting of teeth and slamming of Calum’s body against one of the brick walls that sandwiched them inside an alley. The admittance from Calum that his father was Brenner’s partner was no different than picking up the loaded gun in Kali’s coat pocket, placing it in her hands, and fixing her finger on the trigger.
However, Kali stood still. There was no expression on her face, no indication of violence, not even the pulsing anger she held inside the dead man’s apartment they had just been in. For what felt like a century, no one spoke. Calum looked confused, Kali remained a paused figure, and Sunshine held her breath.
The sound of a police siren snapped them all out of it. Kali’s eyes fell onto the crumpled note in her hands, spotted red with the blood of the man who had wanted to help them, despite aiding in the Lab all of those years ago.
“Kali…” Sunshine started, the pit in her stomach turning.
“This guy's place isn’t far,” she said, much too calm for Sunshine’s liking. Explosive anger and vicious outrage were one thing, silent rage was something else entirely.
Kali didn’t wait for Sunshine or Calum to say anything before she started walking, pushing her hood up and hiding her hands in her pockets. Sunshine cursed under her breath and tried to wipe any trace of blood from her face. On her sweater, it looked like an odd pattern. She crossed her arms tightly over her chest and kept her head ducked as she followed after Kali. Calum wasn’t far behind, rushing to catch up once he realized they were going to leave him.
“You didn’t answer my question,” Calum pushed, and Sunshine wanted to push him to the ground for his own sake.
Kali kept a quick pace, not even sparing a look back at him. “Of course, I knew him,” she replied with a flat tone and coldness on the back end. It caused Sunshine to shiver.
“I’m trying to find him. Or, well, I was. It’s…it’s complicated at the moment, I guess-”
“I hope you find him before I do,” Kali said simply.
Calum sputtered, clearly feeling the effects of Kali’s frozen tone. “W-Why?”
They turned a corner to a street full of small homes in a neat row. Kali stepped into a park that sat on the opposite side of the street from the houses and stopped once she found a picnic table in a secluded corner, shielded by budding trees.
As she took a seat, she said, plainly, “Because I’m going to kill him.”
Sunshine sighed and rubbed her forehead where an ache had been growing all day.
Calum looked shocked, bordering on mortified. “What? Y-You can’t-”
“I can,” Kali cut him off. “Him and Brenner, and everyone else who worked in the Lab deserve something much worse than I can give them. But when they’re dead, they can’t hurt anyone else.”
That was hard to argue with, no matter how much Sunshine wanted to fight her twisted set of morals.
Calum looked to her, maybe for help or to tell him Kali was joking. But just as the Russians and Upside Down had been no joke last summer, this too was too real. Sunshine said nothing; she had nothing that would help either one of them.
“Look, I-I know what my dad was a part of was fucked up. But I’m looking for him to give me answers to why he did it. There has to be some sort of…some kind of reason he did what he did. There has to be more. You can’t just kill him!”
Kali’s gaze hardened, causing Calum to shrink back. “No one is changing my mind. I don’t care that he’s your father. I don’t care if it’s wrong,” she looked to Sunshine. “I never asked for help to follow through. This is my way of taking back what they took from me. I wouldn’t suggest getting in my way.” She tilted her head just slightly, narrowing her eyes in what Sunshine thought looked like concentration. Suddenly, Calum let out a gasp as he fell backward off of the picnic bench and into the grass.
“What are you doing?” Sunshine rushed out.
A drop of blood started to fall from Kali’s nose; she was using her abilities to make Calum see something that wasn’t really there.
“Kali, please,” Sunshine pleaded, but she didn’t stop the illusion. Calum stayed with his back on the grass, swatting away something with frantic movements and panicked yelps. In pure frustration, Sunshine grabbed a hold of Kali’s hand, breaking her concentration at the sudden contact. In reflex, Kali twisted her arm and grabbed hold of both of Sunshine’s upper arms before shoving her as hard as she could, sending Sunshine to the ground alongside Calum.
For a moment, Sunshine noticed the same frightened animal-like expression that she had once gotten, back before she was used to people touching her with no malicious intent. Kali didn’t seem to have that; she was still reeling from years of abuse that created a hard shell around her.
“Oh, God,” Calum moaned. “What the hell, man.” He sounded on the verge of tears, confused and frustrated.
Sunshine sat upright, combing down her flyaway with a huff. She looked at Kali, whose expression faltered back into something Sunshine couldn’t read.
“I’m sorry,” Sunshine said, and Kali’s shoulders stiffened. “Can we just talk about this?”
“Talk? She just said she’s going to kill my dad!” Calum protested, scrambling to his feet, still swatting at his clothes. “What did you do? W-What was that?”
Kali sat back down on the bench, her jaw clenching when she looked at Calum. Sunshine knew she saw it too, the shared resemblance he shared with his father. It was hard to look past, even if Calum wasn’t his father, nor was fated to be like him. They still were family; Calum still wanted to talk to him and try to make sense of what he had done. He wanted an answer that would make his father seem less of a monster, but Sunshine knew any answer Dr. Miller could come up with wouldn’t be enough to justify his actions.
“We’ll talk to this guy after sunset,” Kali said, ignoring Calum’s question about her abilities. “You said you still had questions.”
Sunshine slid back onto the bench, her fingers cold from the breeze and spotted with dried blood. She hid them in her slightly oversized sleeves and sighed. “There’s someone that keeps coming up in my dreams. I know a lot of different people who worked in the Lab; they came and went. But he…he sticks out.” She explained him the best she could, a tall, pale, man who often watched over them inside the Rainbow Room. She didn’t recall him speaking to her much, only little conversation here and there regarding the games she was playing or the puzzles she was trying to solve. Out of everyone who worked there, he was among the kindest, gentle-spoken, and never grabbed at them. He looked at them with understanding instead of disdain. Sunshine never got his name, but she remembered he spoke the most often with El; however, when she had asked her sister about the man, she had no recollection of him. It was like he only existed inside her head, but she wanted to know if Kali remembered him.
Kali seemed to think deeply for a moment, both of them ignoring the grumbles from Calum before he sat down quite dejected that his concern was dismissed. Sunshine felt bad, she did, but she was trying to get Kali’s mind off of murder at the moment.
“He sounds a little familiar. There was someone, a man who often joined me in games of chess when I was new…” she trailed off, a slightly pained look twisted up on her face before it was steeled. “He talked like Brenner. Always saying what I could do was a ‘gift.’ That I remember, but that’s it.”
Kali leaned forward on her elbows, the sky behind her slowly shifting to evening-melting colors. “I still don’t get what remembering will get you besides more pain.”
“Maybe,” Sunshine said, her fingers twisting her necklace. “But I want to make sense of things and make sense of myself. I don’t want to-”
“Become like me?” Kali said. That wasn’t entirely Sunshine’s concern. She was scared of snapping, of hurting the people she cared about because she was so intensely wrapped in anger and age-old pain she couldn’t make sense up, but that haunted her dreams. If she untangled all of the webs inside her head, she thought she could make something neat and beautiful of herself, something normal. She wanted to resolve her anger, so she never took it out on anyone undeserving. She wanted to move on and live a little life free of troubles and ghosts from her past. Was that possible? Sunshine had no clue, but she’d try.
“No,” Sunshine replied. “I just don’t want to lose myself, I guess. With a clear head, I want a fresh start.”
Kali laughed short and bitterly. “Yet, you’re going to take the bus back to Hawkins tomorrow morning.”
“I have a family.” Sunshine felt defensive, her cheeks warm and jaw lightly clenched. “I have people there that I can’t leave, yet. But I don’t plan to stay there forever.” She didn’t need to justify that to Kali, but a part of her felt the urge to. She just wanted her to understand the obligation Sunshine had to the members of the party left, who only had a few people left to look after them and who knew just what they had been through. There wasn’t a chance in hell Sunshine would walk away and leave the kids to fight for themselves.
Kali let out a breath that was visible in the dropping temperatures of early spring but said nothing.
Instead, it was Calum who piped up. “Wait, you aren’t going to kill the guy we’re about to talk to. Are you?” he said, changing the topic of conversation.
“As long as no one beats me to it.”
Three children and a woman were in the next room, a quiet agreement made between Kali and the man they had come to talk to, per Sunshine’s request. She wasn’t sure why she assumed the man would be alone; maybe she hoped everyone who had worked at the Lab ended up sad and alone. But they didn’t; they lived plentiful lives, and Sunshine didn’t like how bitter that made her.
“Look, you kids-”
“Don’t patronize us,” Kali snapped. He seemed much less fearful of the gun in her hands like he’d stood there before being threatened. “Answer the question.”
The man, Craig as he had introduced himself, sighed and briefly closed his eyes.
Sunshine chewed down on her lip, listening to the faint talking of a mother to her children who all were confused as to why Craig insisted on talking with three teenagers. Her mind was working double time trying to listen to his answers and think of a way to get Kali to not kill him one room over from his family. Did she think someone like him deserved a fresh start? No. But he already had it and taking it away at that point would do nothing but put them all on a watch list and hurt his family who had done nothing to them.
“Yes. Dr. Brenner and Miller contacted me. I declined their offer as well. I’m happy here and I-I…” Craig stuttered before he stopped himself. Kali's intense gaze made him shrink just slightly before he met Sunshine’s eyes, the lesser threat. “I didn’t know what I signed up for in the beginning. I was fresh out of school and recruited.”
“They tried to recruit you again,” Kali said. “What for?”
Craig had a scar across his forehead, white and faded but still visible. Sunshine found herself looking at it rather than his eyes.
“I wasn’t given details, just a vague letter.”
Kali stepped forward, leveling her gun with the scar on his forehead a couple of feet away. “What did they want with you and others who worked in the Lab?” Her voice was stern, leaving no room for avoidance.
“Another Lab, if I had to guess. They found what they were good at-” Kali stepped forward in a hasty, rage-filled burst. She pressed the gun against his forehead. Sunshine was only a second behind her.
“Kali,” she said close to Kali’s ear as calmly as she could muster.
Maybe it was annoyance at Sunshine’s interference with her “missions” or a tiny thread of reasonability that had finally come over Kali, but she seemed to listen to Sunshine enough to step back with a deep breath. Most likely she knew they’d get no answers if she killed Craig in a fit of rage.
“I am just statin’ the truth. I don’t approve, didn’t at the time either. But I had just gotten married and needed a job. Besides, getting out of a government contract like that was a nightmare,” he continued.
“You know what else was a nightmare?” Kali hissed. “Being taken from my home and experimented on for years.”
He was too caviler, too okay with the role he played. It made her stomach turn as she thought about Ivy, about Three, about all of the kids who never made it out, and those like Kali who never found a home after escaping a nonstop nightmare. For a moment, Sunshine clenched her fist as her palm felt hot with anger. But she extinguished it before her abilities got the better of her.
“We were under orders-”
“You were a coward.”
Craig shrugged, not disagreeing. “I was, but not anymore. Whatever those men are up to, I’m not a part of it. I don’t plan on ever being a part of something like that again. I learned my lesson.”
“Have you?” Kali asked. “Because to me, it doesn’t seem like you feel bad at all for any of it.”
Something shifted in his expression, a mix between his own burning anger and a look of memories flickering across his mind. He was remembering something. How Sunshine knew that she wasn’t exactly sure, it was just something she could feel.
Her memories assaulted her often, and that same ghostly look probably overcame her as well.
“Believe me, I can’t lose my eyes without seeing…” Craig shuttered as if the memory was shaking him with a kind of violence Sunshine knew all too well. It was curious.
Sunshine took a step forward, her fingers hovering just above the gun as if she was quicker than Kali to pull it away if she threatened to shoot. “See what?” she asked.
Craig’s fingers rubbed harshly against his forehead, which was weathered with worry lines. “That night,” he began, the words seemingly thick in his throat. “God, I’ve never seen anything like that. I-I know things happened inside that building that were…” He looked between Sunshine and Kali, trying to think of a word that properly encompassed what had happened to them and every other child, but there was not one; Sunshine hadn’t found one yet, at least.
“That were awful. I know I was a part of that, to an extent. But after that night…after seeing whatever monster had done that, I quit. I left that building and I never looked back.”
Sunshine furrowed her brows. “The Demogorgon?” There were plenty of monsters inside the Lab, but the only one not in the body of a man was the Demogorgon that was unleashed the night she and El had escaped. While she didn’t know the details of what the monster had done before it escaped into the woods and stole little Will Byers from his own home, but it would be enough to make someone jump ship. Some people could stomach experimenting on children but drew the line at monsters from other words.
Unfortunately, Sunshine and her friends had faced both, and she wasn’t sure they were done doing so. But they couldn’t run away because their lives were in Hawkins, unlike the man in front of her.
Both Craig and Kali looked at Sunshine with confused expressions. “It’s, uh, a monster. Did you see it inside the Lab?”
“I didn’t see anything but the bodies. So many bodies. So many kids…” He shuttered once more, closing his eyes.
The only kids inside the building that night were El and herself. If anyone had died that night, it would have only been Lab workers. If there were kids Sunshine didn’t know about when she escaped, Hopper, Joyce, and Murry would have known shortly after.
“When did you leave?”
“Uh, God, it feels like a lifetime ago.”
Kali narrowed her gaze, readjusting her grip on the gun. “Answer her question.”
“‘78…no. No, it was ‘79.”
Sunshine took an uneven step backward.
That was years before they escaped. She didn’t have the greatest concept of time inside the Lab, only a vague understanding of how old she was because of Ivy and afterward because of a sheet of paper she hid in one of the ceiling panels in her bedroom where she marked off each day she was there. She didn’t understand what he was referring to, but she racked her brain for an answer. The only bodies she had seen were Three’s and Ivy’s after they were dead or nearly dead.
She had more questions, a million more which she thought she’d have the chance to ask because the man seemed rather unphased by Kali’s gun and Kali hadn’t yet learned where Brenner and Miller were operating.
But they never got the chance.
For the second time that day, a bullet came flying out of nowhere. It split the window on the side of the house, raining glass down upon everyone standing in the living room.
Sunshine gasped loudly in surprise before Kali grasped her arm and pulled her onto the carpeted floor. She hit the ground with all of the air escaping her lungs. The sound of breaking glass rang in her ears, filtering everything else out in a horrible echo.
For a disorienting moment, she stayed down, eyes squeezed closed until the sounds of the world came back to her.
Calum ran in from where he begrudgingly kept watch outside and the wife of Craig flew into the living room with her eyes wide and frightened.
“Oh, my God!” the woman screamed, running to her husband. Craig still sat on the couch still, aside from his hand holding the side of his face as blood seeped out from his pale fingers.
Sunshine scrambled up from the ground and ran forward toward the man. She grabbed the blanket from the back of the couch and tried to hand it off to his wife.
“Why? Why did you do this?” the woman cried, looking at Sunshine with bloodshot eyes.
Sunshine’s mouth was dry as she tried to press the blanket up against Craig’s bloodied hand in a weak attempt to stop the bleeding from the fatal wound in the cheek. She felt his blood soak the fabric, sinking onto her skin.
“It wasn’t us,” Kali answered for Sunshine, peering out the window from the side. “I told you; someone is after all of them.”
The wife wailed but seemed more enraged as Craig’s eyes fluttered closed and slumped back against the ruined white couch. She lashed out toward Sunshine, shoving her to the ground with messy, blurry-eyed waving hands. Sunshine groaned as she landed on her back for the second time that day.
Craig’s wife’s chest heaved. “Get out! Get out of here!” She was scared for her life and her children, and Sunshine felt her fear in each frantic kick and shove.
“What the hell is going on? Calum cried.
Sirens sounded somewhere far off in the distance and Sunshine’s chest felt so tight she couldn’t breathe.
Kali used her combat boot to kick the woman off of Sunshine, but not hard enough to seriously hurt her. Craig’s wife cried against the carpet while her kids called from the next room. Guilt chewed at Sunshine, digging its sharp teeth deeper into her skin. Tears welled up in her eyes as shallow breaths escaped her lips.
“We have to go!” Kali said, shaking Sunshine’s shoulders. “You have to go.”
Sunshine’s mind was fractured into too many pieces of worry and problems stacking up, but she focused on Kali for a moment. “N-No,” she sputtered out. “You have to come with us. Come to Hawkins. You’ll be safe there a-and we’ll figure this out.”
“Hawkins is not my home,” Kali replied, tugging Sunshine towards the door and leaving the now-broken family behind.
“But it can be,” Sunshine said. “It’s different. It’s better now. Please, Kali. We can go back and figure out where Brenner and Miller are. I promise everything will work out; it will.” There was nothing Sunshine wanted more than to find a happy ending for all of the kids of the Hawkins Lab who were left. And while she didn’t come to Indy with the full intention of convincing Kali, knowing what El and the twins had said about their other sister, but something inside of her urged her to bring Kali back. It felt important, urgent even. Maybe it was simply the adrenaline and panic in her veins, or maybe that was what Sunshine had wanted all along, not just the answers to her memories.
Kali looked like she wanted to fight, but there was something different in her eyes, something that almost looked scared.
Sirens sounded louder. “Guys?!” Calum’s voice grabbed their attention.
“Fine!” Kali relented, throwing her hands up near the back door of the home. She shoved it open and all of them hurried out. “I’ll go back with you but only to figure out a way to find them. That’s it. The only home I want is my own and they took that away from me.”
Sunshine wanted to say something, something comforting but she could feel blood on her hands and a gunshot in her ears. Her world was dizzying that she wasn’t even sure she had heard Kali right. But they made a plan anyway before Kali split ways to find them a ride back to Hawkins.
While Kali left to find them a ride, Sunshine and Calum found themselves in an alleyway where she had promised to meet them. All of the gross fear and anger bubbled through Sunshine’s veins to the point she couldn’t hide it under her smooth skin and soft exterior. Instead, it flooded her palms, bringing light to them that she threatened Calum with. A part of her felt bad about the fear in his tense muscles, but a larger part of her wanted him to stop. It may not have been his fault they ran into each other in Indy, but with him came an unraveling thread that he felt a sick need to pick at. He couldn’t stop and Sunshine couldn’t stand it.
Two men were dead. Her necklace was gone. Kali had agreed to come back to Hawkins under false promises that Sunshine couldn’t keep. And Dr. Brenner and Miller were possibly up to their same old sick experiment. If there were other kids out there in danger, Sunshine wanted to help, but she had no idea where to even start. That’s why she needed to get home where she could talk to the people she trusted without hesitation to come up with some kind of plan.
She wanted to cry, and after a tense moment of holding her illuminated hand to Calum’s face, that feeling washed over her anger like a sudden tidal wave, sending her floating back to the shore of reason. Stumbling backward, she curled her fingers into a fist and let a couple of tears fall from her eyes, hitting the alleyway gravel.
Calum stood motionless, his face twisted up in a million different emotions. They had no time to exchange any words before a car pulled up, stopping quickly with its headlights turned off. Kali threw open the passenger side door from inside and gestured for them to hurry.
With minor hesitation, Sunshine raced towards the car and Calum followed a couple of steps behind. Once they both closed their doors, Kali stepped on it, weaving through the alleyways and backroads of Indy until she hit the highway, leaving the mess in the rearview mirror.
Sunshine leaned her head against the window, feeling the cool glass against her hot cheek. Her shaky, stained hands folded themselves on her lap after trying once more to reach for her necklace that was long gone. But at least she was heading home.

my forever - calum hood. (kinda angst, kinda fluff)
a calum hood x reader
she/her pronouns, reader is michael’s sister.
he traced shapes into her back, his cold, coarse fingertips leaving goosebumps down her spine. something he’d always enjoyed, giving the girl goosebumps, seeing the little bumps appear reminded him what power he had over her.
“calum?” she whispered, so quiet that the kiwi boy wouldn’t have heard if it wasn’t for the near silence in his hotel room, the TV playing american psycho being the only other noise source.
he took a small breath, not knowing the topic of conversation before it started was something he always hated.
he liked interviews. interviews were planned, almost scripted, he knew the upcoming questions and he knew exactly how to answer them.
this wasn’t scripted. this was too real for him - life was often too real for him. “yeah baby?” he spoke back, his own tone just as hushed as the girls.
she hesitated, almost regretting striking up a conversation. “this hurts.” her quiet voice broke, calum shooting up to face her.
“what hurts, babe?” he questioned, placing a hand on her soft cheek, rubbing his thumb up and down. “tell me what hurts and i’ll fix it, okay?”
he’d never seen her so broken.
he knew she could be sensitive, micheal had warned him and his friends of that when they’d first met y/n. ‘be careful what you say, she gets hurt so easily.’
but calum had never truly believed such a thing, not once had he witnessed y/n cry, or even heard mention of her being upset from something he’d done. (poor oblivious calum, y/n was just very good at hiding it from him.)
“i don’t think you can fix it, cal.” she pouted, tears spilling from her eyes, her mascara beginning to run. “being.. this with you.. it really hurts”
he took back his hand, humming in silent agreement. he’d thought it for a while, he was almost hit with relief that she’d bring it up.
calum had always struggled at doing ‘casual’. he knew he needed to, especially now. if michael found out he was with the boy’s sister, he’d go crazy.
even then, it killed him. not holding her hand in public, not being able to kiss her whenever he wanted. not having the ability to really call her his.
“i just- i don’t want to be your maybe anymore.” she began playing with her shirt, the button suddenly becoming more interesting than calum’s eyes - though, to her, nothing ever really was. “it’s either we’re together or we’re friends. i’m not prepared to be neither, or both.”
calum remained quiet, unable to gather his words. he was rarely ever speechless, but times like this left him more than so. he was never good in sad situations.
“friends.. they aren’t what we are. they don’t love like us. if that’s what you want to be, be it. be my friend, but don’t keep hurting me like this.”
the maori boy smiled sadly, bringing a hand upward, tucking the girls hair behind her ear “i don’t want to be your friend, n/n.” he sighed, watching her face fall further, a thing he didnt quite think was possible. “i want to be your forever.”
a shocked look replaced the sadness, his words hitting her harder than ever, through sobs she brought his lips to hers, smile refusing to leave her face.
“i would love for you to be my forever, hood.”
(i wrote this at 2am don’t fault me if it sucks.)

yoooo! i'm rocket (she/her) and this is my manic pixie boy... man... pyro? idiot? callum, who is absolutely named after calum hood from 5sos i have a few pages up for him at the moment but this post may be better served regarding initial interesting in plotting! i do prefer d*scord for plotting just an fyi; feel free to like this post and i'll send you a dm to connect! ♡
tw: mentions of domestic/physical/familial abuse, accidental death
yes he DID forget how to speak korean when he got to ansong. yes he spent a week literally not being able to understand/read anything around him (this would be a fun plot for anyone who has a muse who speaks eng!) and i don't know how he did it. but one day he woke up and he could just suddenly understand everything again so he's ok now
is from sydney but doesn't remember that now. there's a picture of the sydney opera house on one of his mementos
came from a household with a very strict father and mother with little backbone; as the older son he was always being pressured to be amazing by his dad and would get hit when he didn't meet his father's standards (and then really started acting out as a result, but we'll get to that)
SUPER IMPORTANT TO KNOW: callum has a sister who is 2 years younger named callie and they were super close and i would love if someone brought her to the rp hello 2nd muse idea for y'all !!!
so once his dad really started laying on the trauma lol, callum began his rebellious era — literally just saying fuck all to his grades at school, hanging out with shitty people, getting involved with things he really shouldn't have
got arrested at 17 the spring before his high school graduation, father knew people in the city to get them to let him off with a smack on the wrist but nearly got his ass beat
father banished him to go live with his uncle in korea for the next decade. had a really hard time adjusting at first because his korean sucked. did some odd jobs, tutored english, wanted to be a cop but he couldn't because he wasn't technically a citizen so he actually started training to willingly enlist in the korean military
this happening while he was visiting aus for his bday: he just turned 27 this august so right before his frontal cortex stopped growing he thought it would be a great idea to set off illegal fireworks while was rly drunk with his friends... yeah ok buddy. ends up, i shit you not, "dumb ways to die" accidentally k*lls himself AND HIS SISTER with the fireworks striking them both. i swear this was more tragic when i was first conceptualizing him but writing this out now it's so stupid fjkdhfjkgf
except now on the bright side, he's dead but gets to be a firefighter! oh the irony
persona
personality wise he's like a pretty cool dude. fun to chill with. really likes fires. is calm and cool and that friend that always knows the right thing to say except he's got a lot of demons in him that keep him in his head a lot but is so frustrated because he can't even figure out what the demons are. loves his job. super into fitness and staying in shape. makes lists for everything. slightly neurotic. really wants to get a dog. left-handed. may come across as hard to read at times. nolan fanboy. good taste in memes but bad tiktok taste. only dresses in black/gray/neutrals outside of his work uniform. surprisingly makes banger charcuterie boards
tl;dr
childhood traumatized man accidentally k*lls himself and his sister
potential plots
someone who goes to the same boxing gym as him and maybe they have beef about something pretty juvenile? LMAO
one of your kitchen appliances catches on fire and you're too scared/embarrassed to call 119 so instead you run down to the third floor and make callum handle it instead
someone to go with him to one of the events posted on the community bulletin!!!
for females: callum meets you for the first time and when he does he gets deja vu. he feels like he's met you before (it's all his subconscious trying to push out his memory of his sister callie)
for males: someone younger he treats like an older brother (again, his subconscious longing for his sister)
#𝐨𝐨𝐜.#𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨.#i feel like i'm forgetting a million things JKDSFHGFD but we'll work with what we've got!!!!

Best Years but not In the Same Way (31)
Calum Hood x Reader
Previous Part
Hi all thank you for still reading this crap story that i can’t ignored. After 3 years abandoned it, i came back and continue. I hope i will be able to finish it! Enjoy.
Masterlist
-
Since you and Calum made up, everything went back to normal. And about the RSVP for Justin’s wedding, you decided not to come. After a long talk with your boyfriend, alongside with consideration that Calum will go to the tour with Chainsmoker on September 25, You will release a single called Memories and will do promo and you two were busy.
And the real reason behind it was… you couldn’t. It was your ex fiancé big day and people’s eyes will judge you if you came. And you weren’t ready to face it.
Counting days to the release of your single. It was inspired by your late father. You have been missing him since the day you left him. You still regret it until today. What if you never run away from home and accepted that he married someone you hate. You might eventually love your step mother and became a real happy family. And all of the event that been going on in your life would never happened.
Out of nowhere, Mike Posner called you and you picked up.
“Hello sister!” He greeted me. “You’re not going to the studio?”
“No,” you shook your head. “I’m going to my dad’s. Is okay if I skipped helping you just for today? Please?”
“Sure. Sure. You go take your time. I will see you tomorrow, okay?” He hung up the call.
Then you get ready to go to the flower shop to get some flowers.
Hours later you arrived with a bunch of flowers and put it on their graves.
“Dad.” You called him. Obviously no answer. “You know what? I think you’re here and you could read what’s on my mind.” “He’ll get married in two weeks. Yeah, he was so easily moved on. He got engaged last year, when I struggled myself with my mental health. He legally married 2 months after, while I embarrassed myself in front of thousands people.”
“But I survived, dad. I’m here. Calum helped me through it. I just wish i never chose Justin over Calum.” You said it as if your dad listened.
You said goodbye to them and when you turned back you saw someone stood before you. You yelled but immediately covered your mouth with your palm.
“Sorry, i didn’t mean to scare you.” Barry said while giggled.
“No it’s fine. What you doing here?” You asked him. But you answered it right away. “Oh, your mom.”
He smiled. “How have you been, Bar?” His smile is truly genuine. You missed him so bad. The last time you saw him was January ‘17 when you were still engaged to Justin.
You returned his smile. “I’m doing good.” You paused. “It’s been a long time since the last time we met. How’s your dad, Iris and Joe?”
“They’re fine. They asked about you sometimes. Oh by the way, i have my own place now. No more staying with my dad.” He grinned. “At the apartement we used to lived.”
You stunned.
“It’s still cozy, by the way. Nothing has changed since i left.”
He way he said it was really calm and cheerful. He really made you speechless and couldn’t speak any single word. He really forgave you for all of your mistakes and it even made you adore him even more.
“Hey, you okay? You haven’t responded anything i said before.” Barry caught you. “Look, if i said something that might offended you, I’m sorry, okay? I didn’t mean any of it.”
You smiled. “I was just…,” you looked at his eyes. “I’m so happy i met you today. We never talk since 2017 and now, in 2019 we randomly met here and you came to greeted me and…” you couldn’t finished the rest of the speech because you ran out of words.
-
“Thank you for driving me here.” You said it while you and Barry walked to the lobby. “I know, i can drive and I’m supposed to have a car by my own. But… i still enjoy being this way.” You still need one moment to reassure yourself that you need a car. Well that was weird and stupid.
Barry laughed. “Okay okay, you really read my mind. Alright. I have to go to the police station.”
When Barry was about to turn back, you saw Calum opened the lobby door. You waved to him and he walked towards you smiling.
“Hey love.” He kissed your forehead. “I thought you still on your way here.”
“I got here faster because he drove me.” Your eyes pointed at Barry. And he was just smiled at both of you and Calum. “Cal, this is Barry.” You introduced him, your ex to your boyfriend. This wasn’t awkward you swear because there wasn’t any beef between them.
“I’m Barry, Barry Allen.” Barry gave his right hand. Calum was silent for 5 seconds but finally he shook Barry’s hand. You sighed in relieved and kinda giggled a little. Dude, this is one of the most angst moment you ever felt.
“Alright, i gotta go. Bye.” Barry went outside and you and Calum walked to the lift.
“Wow, i finally met him in person.” Calum talked when we inside the lift.
“Why is that?” You asked him curiously.
He chuckled. “I don’t know. He’s a good person and i had no beef with him. He’s very nice to you and I’m grateful for that.”
You nodded.
After minutes you and Calum made it to the apartment.
“Hey Cali,” you called him when he walked to the kitchen table to put some stuff. “What if i never ran away from my dad, and we never met?”
“I guess my life would be less drama and boring.” Said him. You just chuckled. “Seriously, i’d rather being in this complicated life with you than living with someone else.”
You smiled and hugged him tightly.

KNOW IT ALL x THE BAND CAMINO
part 10
1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9
a calum hood songfic
the end!!!
Michael drops Tillie off at Calum’s home after he forces her to take a shower and put on clean clothes. He watches from his car as she knocks on the door, ready to drive her back home in case Calum refuses to speak to her. He’s proud of Tillie for finally facing a mess that she’s left behind.
Tillie nervously rings the doorbell, even though she still has a key to Cal’s house. She knows walking in after their conversation last week wouldn’t go well.
Calum is surprised to see her, and while he’s still mad, seeing her on his doorstep gives him hope.
“Tillie?”
“Hi, Thomas,” she says, doing her best to smile at him.
“What are you doing here?”
She nervously squirms under his intense gaze. “I have something to give you.”
He doesn’t say anything. He keeps staring at her, waiting for her to give him whatever it is. He assumes it’s something he left behind at her place after the party, but if that was it, why didn’t she just leave it on the porch or give it to Michael to give to him?
Tillie sighs, reaching into the black belt bag she carries as a purse. She pulls out a small ball of blue paper and smooths it out. It's a blue sticky note. It’s a note from the same pad as her breakup note she left for him. She hands the paper to him so he can read it.
I need some space. I’m sorry. I love you.
“Tillie, what is this?” He asks. The final three words burn into his mind.
“It’s the first note I wrote that morning,” she explains.
She wrote it and kept it. That has to mean something, even if she didn’t leave it for him to find that morning.
Calum is stunned, staring at the black ink and reading it over and over. It’s strange how different the note feels with just three more words.
“Can I come in?” She asks. Her voice is shaky and nervous. He hasn’t heard her speak like this much.
He nods and breaks his stare from the piece of blue paper. He opens the door wider so Tillie can walk in. He’s fantasized countless times about Tillie telling him she loves him, but this is a version even his wildly imaginative brain didn’t conjure up.
Tillie, in a somewhat confident way, walks beyond the threshold of Calum’s house. She spins around, expectantly, to determine whether they should talk outside or inside, depending on if Roy is home.
As Tillie steps inside, Michael smiles to himself from the driveway inside of his car. He reverses out of the driveway. If she’s inside, he’s confident they’ll make up and he won’t need to drive her home. Cal is such a sucker for Tillie and everyone knows it.
“Uh, the couch should be fine,” Calum speaks, shutting the door behind her.
She nods and walks to the couch, nervously sitting on the edge of it. Calum is surprised to watch her like this. She’s never so timid.
Calum sits on the opposite side of the couch, but his eyes stay focused on the note. She said that she loves him. She didn’t say it out loud but she said it, and she said it back when they were sort of together. She’s kept the evidence with her the whole time.
“I wasn’t lying the other day, Cal,” Tillie speaks. “I do miss you.”
He sighs, looking up at her. She means it. He knows she does, but it doesn’t change the facts. “Tillie, why did you leave like that?” He cuts straight to the point.
Then it’s her turn to sigh. She has to finally talk about it. She knows she has to talk about it and the thought alone makes her want to throw up. She clears her throat and stares into his warm brown eyes that are so skeptical of her.
“Do you remember that night in Montreal?” She asks.
Calum has to hold in a laugh. Of course he remembers that night. It was one of the best nights of his life. It was the night they became… more than nothing. “Yes, I remember that night.”
“And you remember what I told you about my sister?”
He nods.
“The morning I left, I got a call from the police department in Raleigh. North Carolina, I mean.”
Calum nods again. Nothing that she’s saying has justified anything that she’s done. Not yet, at least.
“Um, so, my sister — Madison — she…” Tillie trails off and her eyes get teary faster than she expected. She looks away from Calum, not sure how she can look him in the eyes and tell him the truth.
Calum stays quiet, giving her the space to figure out what she wants to say. What she needs to say.
“Fuck,” Tillie mumbles, wiping under her eyes as the tears start to fall.
Calum wants nothing more than to reach over and wipe the tears away, but he’s supposed to be pissed at her still, so he doesn’t. But god, does he want to make her feel safe and okay and not whatever she’s going through mere inches away from him.
“Madison committed suicide,” she finally says.
He’s been silent the whole time, but now he really has no idea what to think or say. What she’s just shared isn’t something he ever could have imagined. His heart breaks for her.
“I just… didn’t — hell, I don’t know how to… deal… with it. It’s my fault.”
That’s all it takes for Calum to move closer to her, pulling her into him in a tight hug. Tillie collapses against him, breaking down fully for possibly the first time in her life. She feels safe in his arms and she’s grateful for him being understanding above all else.
“It’s not your fault, Tillie,” he whispers to her.
“It is! And then I hurt you, and then everything got so bad, and now everything is all messed up, and she died because of me, and I just… I don’t know.”
“I knew I was going to get hurt when I started anything with you, Tills,” he says. He’s partly joking and trying to lighten the mood, but he also knows he’s really not kidding.
She looks up at him with teary eyes. “Cal—“
He cuts her off. “And that’s okay with me.”
“That’s not fair, Calum.”
Calum is thinking everything over. Tillie left him because of a true tragedy in her life. She ran because of something awful that had nothing to do with him. She truly just needed space. She didn’t let him back in once everything was back to normal, but still. He’s not as angry or hurt by the whole thing now after learning about the real reason.
“Tillie, you know I love you,” he starts and he watches as his words make her flinch.
“I’m really sorry to hear about your sister. I can’t imagine how badly going through that alone must have felt. I wish you felt safe enough to let someone in back then. None of us heard from you for… months. Not even Michael.”
“I knew everyone would hate me,” she says.
“Nobody hated you.”
Tillie shrugs in response, which surprises Calum. She doesn’t believe him and she knows that people were upset when she disappeared. Nobody knew how to ask her about her absence because she came back and picked up her life like nothing had happened. She had lied and said she went on an ayahuasca retreat in Mexico and disconnected from the world to connect with her spiritual side.
Rendering Matilda Sloane Beckett speechless isn’t something that happens often. It’s certainly never happened in Calum’s presence.
Calum doesn’t know what to say either, so they just sit on the couch, the dust settling around them and a somewhat comfortable silence falls over the room.
“If there’s anyone I should’ve told, it was you. And I’m sorry.”
They stare at each other, blue eyes pouring into brown.
“I love you, Calum. I should’ve told you that, too.”
Hearing the words out loud feels even more crazy. Calum’s heart is rattling in his chest, moving so fast it feels like it might explode. He wants to kiss her so badly, but he’s holding it in, trying to give Tillie a chance to talk about her feelings, something she basically never does.
“Can you forgive me?” She asks.
Without hesitating, he answers.
“Of course I forgive you. I love you.”
“Even knowing the truth?”
“I forgive you for running away and I still love you. That’s all there is to it, T.” He’s holding her close to him still, rubbing small circles on her back.
Tillie shakes her head. “I’m a murderer, Calum.”
“It isn’t your fault at all.”
She wants to yell at him and tell him he’s wrong, but she doesn’t. She doesn’t need to make things worse. Everything is coming back together, slowly, in this moment, and she doesn’t want to mess it all up again.
“Have you thought about talking to someone?” Calum asks. Of course he wants to talk about them and where they stand as a couple, but Tillie’s sanity trumps their relationship any day.
“I’m talking to you right now,” she replies. She doesn’t actually understand what Cal means.
“No, T, like… talking to a therapist.”
Tillie raises her eyebrows before she shakes her head. “No, no, I don’t think that’s necessary.” Therapy was for crazy people and depressed people. She wasn’t either.
Calum sighs loudly, looking at the girl he loves who’s broken. She appears fine from far away. She’s still whole, but when you look closely, really closely, you can see the hairline fractures in the porcelain. It’s only a matter of time before it crumbles.
“You know, I go to therapy,” he says, trying to keep the subject on this as long as he can. He really does want her to talk to someone.
“You do?”
He nods. They’re not hugging anymore, but they’re still pressed close together. Tillie’s leaning her head against his chest and his arm is wrapped tightly around her.
“I do, and so does Mike. Luke does, sometimes, and Ash went a lot for a while there. We all go.”
“Why do you go?” She asks.
Calum coughs and clears his throat. For the past year, it’s mostly been talking about Tillie. Before that, it was his parents’ separation and just general trauma recovery after being essentially a child star. He wouldn’t have traded his teenage years for anything, but he definitely went through a lot of things a lot earlier than he should have.
How does he tell the root of his emotional turmoil that she’s the reason he’s needed therapy?
“Just anxiety and stuff,” he says. He doesn’t tell her. That’s not a conversation for right now. “I think it would be good for you, Tillie. Even just to go one time and determine if it’s right for you.”
She thinks it over for a second, but realizes that if anyone would be able to gauge Tillie’s need to go to therapy, it is Calum. He loves her so much and knows more of her deepest, darkest secrets than anyone else.
She nods. “Okay, if you think I should, I will.”
Calum is floored. He expected far more fight from the stubborn woman. Of course, it’s nice that there wasn’t an argument, but he’s not sure how to act. This isn’t something he could’ve prepped his brain for.
“That’s… that’s good,” he finally says.
Tillie nods again. Calum doesn’t know what to say, so he just nods in response.
“Can I ask you something crazy?” Tillie says, cutting into his thoughtful state.
All Calum knows how to do is nod.
“Can we… can we be, like, an ‘us’?”
He’s floored again, and his throat is full of cotton. How does he reply to that? How does he answer the question he’s wanted to hear for forever?
“Sorry, I mean… I guess, can we… actually try this? Like, boyfriend girlfriend, or partners, or, I don’t know, like… a relationship?”
Calum’s jaw drops open, but he nods quickly. Everything he’s wanted to hear is coming from the girl in his arms that he’s missed being this close to. This is what he’s dreamt about.
“Tillie, I haven’t wanted anything more in my life. Ever.”

Dr. Angel Face Prequel Part 9: Meet the Family (Calum Hood Fluff)
Summary: Calum's mom and sister visit him in California and they finally meet (Y/N), probably in her worst possible moment. (T.W: Mention of Death / Description of Depressive Episode / Mention of Car Accident) (Words: 3.1k) (Penultimate Part of The Prequels) Dr Angel Face Main Stories: Fetish / Heat / Heat Extended / Dr. Angel Face / Dr. Angel Face Alternative / Dr. Angel Face Prequel 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 10 / My Full Masterlist / Dr. Angel Face Masterlist
"Nervous about meeting my mother?" Calum asks as I take a look at the souffle in the oven. "Not really. I am way more nervous about meeting your sister." I reply, taking a deep breath in anticipation. In less than 2 hours, I will be meeting his mom and sister, two of his absolutely favorite people. "She is your age, you will get along." He brushes me off, sticking his tongue out as he laughs while I narrow my eyes at him. "Did you just jab at our age gap?" I ask him, making him roll his eyes. "Age gap... It's just 4 years. You need to relax." He replies, wrapping his arms around my waist and pecking my temple. "And now I am worried about meeting your mom too... What will she think of the age difference?" I sigh, biting the inside of my cheek. "She already knows I am dating a MILF." He states, earning a slap on his hand. "I am not a MILF. First of all, I am not that old. And second, I am not a mother." I point out and he hums, moving his lips down the side of my neck. "I can help with the second part of it." He grazes his lips over my sweetspot, making chills crawl on my skin. "You have to leave for the airport. Think of the traffic." I moan, feeling a ticklish sensation caused by his lips. "I'd rather think of you. Plus, we have at least an hour and a half before they even land." He counters, tilting my head to the side to gain himself more access. "Traffic can be brutal heading to the airport." I deny him, moving from his embrace. "For someone so anxious about meeting my family, you sure are eager for me to pick them up." He comments and I sigh. "Your mom and sister both have traveled a very long trip to see you. The least you can do is be there on time to pick them up." "In all honesty, they saw me not even 6 months ago. They are coming for you, angel." "Did you tell me that so I can just dip?" I ask him and he chuckles. "You will be fine. They are not gonna bite. That's my job." He winks, leaving a kiss on my forehead before picking up his phone from the counter. "Please, no dirty talk, or innuendos in front of your family. I am begging you." "I will have to consider that. I like the way you get flustered by my comments." "Calum..." I protest. "Can't hear you. I am leaving." He says cheerily, strutting towards the front door.
Despite jitters making my stomach a tight knot, I managed to finish cooking and set the table in Calum's backyard. As per usual, it is a lovely day in Los Angeles and it would be a pity not to take advantage of the beautiful weather and have a meal outside.
I hear Duke barking towards the door as I finish placing the pot of ragù for the pasta in the middle of the table. I straighten up and head inside through the kitchen door, bracing myself for the moment I have been so anxious about.
I walk to the front of the house, kneeling down to pet Duke and get him to stop barking. There is too much noise in this tiny dog. "Bud, it's ok. You'll tire your voice." I coo at the dog and scratch behind his ears. "I got the bags..." I hear Calum exasperate as he opens the door. I put on a smile and move aside to clear the way for them to walk in. "Ah, there she is... Mom, Mali, this is (Y/N). (Y/N), my mom and sister." Calum introduces us, right at the moment the two women walk in. Joy is the first to approach me, pulling me in for a hug. I am surprised, pleasantly surprised, but still taken aback. "It is so good to finally meet you in person. All Calum did over Christmas was talk about you." Joy says, pulling away to take a better look at me. "It is a pleasure to finally meet you as well. Calum talks about you all the time. How was your trip?" I ask, smiling at her. "Very long. Thank you for asking." "Mom, don't hog the girl. There are others waiting." Mali comments, moving to hug me. "I have been wanting to see you in person for so long. You are even more gorgeous than Calum told us." "Oh my, thank you. Calum sure talks a lot." I turn to my boyfriend who smirks and shrugs. "I thought my sharing was confidential. But apparently, everyone is kissing and telling in this family." Calum glares at the two women. "Oh, hush. We haven't even told her half of what you have told us." Mali comments. "And that is the reason why I am never telling you anything again." He sighs. "I have set the table outside. Hope you don't mind." I change the subject, pointing to the backyard. "Just give us a minute to freshen up and we will be right in there." Joy turns to look at Calum for directions. "I'll take you upstairs, and show you your rooms too." Calum picks up the luggage, signaling the 2 women to start heading upstairs. "See you in a bit, (Y/N)." Mali waves at me with a soft smile on her lips. She looks just like Calum, who in turn looks just like Joy. It is like seeing triple.
"You are a surgeon, you can cook... Is there anything you cannot do?" Mali asks me as I serve her a piece of souffle. "I cannot ride a bike... So, put that on my disadvantage list." "You cannot ride a bike?" Calum asks me in surprise, eyes widening. "I really can't. I never learned how to." I reply, making him scoff. "How come I didn't know?" He asks me as I hand him back his plate after serving him. "I guess it was never brought up." I take a seat, picking up some salad. "Calum told us you are a pediatrician." Joy comments and Calum groans. "Mom, I told you she is a neurosurgeon..." He says through gritted teeth, almost protesting on my behalf. "Cal, come on. It's fine. I am a neurosurgeon, but I am doing a fellowship in neonatal and pediatric neurosurgery. So, I am working with babies, children, and adults. Everyone really." I explain. "It must be very challenging." Mali comments and I nod. "It is. But I cannot imagine myself doing anything else. I think I had settled down on what I wanted to do at the age of 2. By 10, I know it had to be neurosurgery. 3 days into my internship, I knew I had to work with children." "Anyways, enough about me. Calum tells me you are a musician as well. Does musical talent run in your family, or...?" I ask and Mali chuckles. "I think he is just copying me. Like all younger siblings do." Mali playfully eyes Calum, who smirks and shrugs. "She is just mad because I dethroned her." He comments and Malik cackles. "You wish you could dethrone me." Mali rolls her eyes and I laugh. "Were they always like that?" I turn to Joy who looks at her children proudly. "Always a headache. Especially my Calum. But I dread the day they will stop being like that." She looks at them with so much love in her eyes, clearly showing she has missed her children interacting like that. "Do you have siblings?" Joy asks me and I shake my head no. "I am an only child. But I have a lot of cousins. So I sort of get this dynamic." I gesture to the siblings who are still oblivious to us talking. "Are you close to your parents?" "Very. I don't see them often, due to work, but we call each other frequently and I visit as much as I can." "Do they live far?" She asks me and I shake my head no. "Not really. It is a four-hour drive, but I don't always have the energy to travel there and I need to always be available in case there is an emergency at the hospital." "Your parents must be very proud of you. So young and already so successful. And a hard worker." "Mrs. Hood, you are making me blush. Thank you so much. It means a lot hearing it from you. You have raised such incredible children. Especially Calum. I don't think I have ever met anyone like him." I turn my head to look at Calum, who is showing something on his phone to Mali. "Please, call me Joy. No need for formalities." She reaches to cup my hand in empathy.
"Shall I bring out the dessert?" I ask once I see everyone empty their plates. "What are we having?" Mali asks. "I made my very famous salted caramel cheesecake." I reply, making Calum moan in excitement. "This is one of the reasons I fell in love with her." He comments, and I roll my eyes. "I'll come help." Mali offers, standing up from her chair. "Coffee?" I ask Joy who nods. "Mali knows how I take it." Joy looks at her daughter who nods her head. "How can I forget?" She sighs, following me inside.
"Thank you for offering to help." I turn to her, heading to the fridge to bring out the dessert. "It's the least I can do. Your food was amazing." "Thank you. I don't cook often, to be honest." "I get why. But it was really great. It must have taken you all day to cook all that." "Not really. I am pretty good at multitasking. And Calum also helped." "Oh... I don't remember Calum ever being good at cooking." She comments, searching the cabinets for mugs. "He is great at it, though. He always cooks for me whenever I stay over." "You don't live together?" Mali asks surprised. "No. I am staying here for a few days because I have some issues with my roommate and I am looking for a new place." I explain and she hums in surprise. "I thought you had moved in. Oh, well. My bad. And I hope you find a solution to the whole housing issue soon." "Thank you. Oh, can you excuse me for a second?" I ask as my phone rings. Mali nods and turns to the coffee maker, focusing on making coffee as I accept the call.
(Calum's POV) Mali approaches the table, looking at me hesitantly, like a scolded puppy. "Cal, something is wrong with (Y/N)." She says worriedly, making me look at her in confusion. "What do you mean?" "Is she ok?" My mom asks and Mali shakes her head. "Her phone rang. I heard her say the name Robin... They talked a little and (Y/N) took off crying." "Her supervisor, Robins... She is teaching her the techniques for her fellowship. Crap... I'll be right back."
My heart is pounding as I look for her, just the thought of anything hurting her makes me furious. I can hear her sobs even before I open the door to the bedroom, and my heart sinks to my stomach. "(Y/N), darling..." I call her, not wanting to startle her with my presence. "Baby, what's wrong?" I walk further into the room, softening my voice as she turns to look at me. "Nothing. I am fine. I will be downstairs in a minute." She tries to pull herself together, but her voice breaks and soon the tears she so carefully tried to dry are back in her eyes, threatening to spill down her cheeks. "Angel..." I sigh, moving to take a seat by her side on the bed. "Don't worry about coming downstairs. Tell me, what happened? Mali told me Robins called." I cradle her face in my hands, trying to make her look at me, make my presence there conscious. "She had an accident." She can barely mumble before the next fit of crying. "Who? Robins?" I ask her, trying to make sense of what she is telling me. (Y/N) shakes her head, no, her bottom lip quivering. "The mother of the baby. The one I was supposed to operate on once it was born... She was in a car accident... And she..." (Y/N) cannot bring herself to finish the sentence. She buries her head in my chest, sobbing onto my shirt. "Oh my God... What about the baby?" I ask her, and at that moment her sobbing becomes louder. "It is unfair... So unfair. I could have saved her. I could have saved her, but I didn't have a chance. I could have fixed her. I could have given her a normal childhood. But I didn't have a chance... I didn't have the chance. It is unfair." She sobs, her speech becoming slurred. "Honey... I am so sorry... Sweetheart..." I don't know what to do, or what to say to make her pain go away. All I can do is press pecks on the top of her head, and let her cry it all out. "It's not your fault, baby. It's not your fault." I repeat, time after time, hoping it gets through her head. Because it is not her fault. It is not, and she should not blame herself for the death of that woman, or the death of that child.
-
I open the curtains letting the morning light fill the room. (Y/N) is still in bed, covers brought up to her ears, unbothered by the sudden change of lighting in the room. I walk to the bed, taking a seat before I bring down the covers a little. "Good morning, angel. It is time to get up." I say softly, stroking her arm. "I just want to sleep." She mumbles, still in the same motionless state. "You have been sleeping since the day before yesterday. You haven't eaten anything since dinner with my mom and Mali." I comment but she groans. "I am not hungry. And I just want to sleep. Leave." She sounds exhausted, which is not fitting for someone who has been sleeping for nearly a day and a half. "Well, this is not happening, so let's get over with the hard part and get out of bed." I pull the covers off her body, making her curl up in a fetal pose. "I hate you right now." She mumbles but I just brush it off, picking her up from the bed.
I put her over my shoulder, carrying her to the en-suite bathroom. "Let's get you washed up..." I let her on her feet before I turn the tap on in the shower to warm up the water. "Don't you even think of running back to bed." I help her out of her pyjamas, while she looks at me like she is detached from what is going on currently. "Alright... You can be like that if you want to, but I am not going to let you crawl back to bed." I say softly, pressing a kiss on her forehead. I strip off my clothes too, before helping her into the shower. "It would be so much easier for you to just let me lay in bed forever." She comments as the water hits her. I grab her shampoo from the rack, pouring some into my palm. "It would be... But I am always up for a challenge." I lather her hair up with the shampoo, massaging it onto her scalp.
"You got me out of bed, you got me washed up, you fed me... Don't you think it is enough?" (Y/N) asks in frustration as I practically drag her out of the house. "It is enough when I say it is enough. Now, into the car we go." "Don't you have to spend time with your family? Isn't that the point of them traveling all the way here?" She asks me and I shrug. "They are visiting Ashton today. He is taking them for lunch and then to see a theatre show. More questions?" I ask her and she groans. "Why won't you let me just stay in bed?" She asks me. "Would you? Would you let me wilt away in bed for something that was not my fault?" I ask her softly and she sighs. She silently walks to the passenger side, still keeping her detached look.
"I know it is not my fault." It is the first phrase she says since we arrived at Malibu Beach. I turn to look at her, clearing her face of the strands that the air has blown onto her face. "Thank God for that." I reply, stroking her cheek slowly. "I just can't accept that I didn't have the chance. I can't accept that the baby didn't have the chance. There is so much beauty in the world, and that creature will never get to see it, experience it in all its glory." She sighs, covering her face with her hand, blocking the sun out. "It is unfair, I am pissed about it too. But falling apart is going to rob all those children who are waiting for you to work your miracles of the opportunity to be treated. You can't control everything, angel. The car accident was out of your control, you couldn't have predicted it, you couldn't have prevented it. What you can do now is make sure you do your best for the next baby that will need your help, for the next person that will be on your operating table." I stroke her hair, listening to her breathing calmly. "I am so tired." She sighs. I can hear in her voice how tired she is, despite the long sleep. "Bailey said you shouldn't step foot in the hospital until Monday. And she will only allow you back in the OR after you get cleared by a psychologist. You have time to rest." I assure her, but she groans in response. "It's really shitty that I will be away from surgery until I get cleared." "I mean, who would be benefitted from you having a breakdown during surgery?" I ask her. "Your family must be hating me." "My family doesn't hate you. My mom is very worried about you. Especially yesterday when you didn't eat all day. She wanted to force-feed you. They actually really appreciated how involved you are." I assure her, pressing a kiss on her head. "I know I have been the worst girlfriend ever in the past few days, nor the easiest person to comfort or help... But you were the most amazing boyfriend. I mean, you are. You did exactly what I needed you to do, even though I didn't even know what I needed." She says softly. There is still sadness in her voice, I can still sense that her faith in this world has been shaken. "I hope I never have to do that again." I reply, meaning it with my whole heart.

calum thomas hood
eight years.
↪ part one!
↪ part two.
"merry christmas eve!"
"mhm, come back to bed" you hear calum whine in his morning voice. you giggle at the sight of your boyfriend patting the empty mattress beside him.
it was now two days after the snowball incident, the one which led to calum finally confessing his feelings for you. well, since then, you and calum talked things through, about where you both stood with each other. the next day after that talk, calum took you out to a rooftop dinner and asked you on the balcony to be his girlfriend.
the both of you had waited so long for the moment, and your answer was obvious, but the fact he asked you - was something you appreciated.
the day after that, the four of you: you, calum, ashton, and mali, all went to target to get some christmas decorations for the cabin.
you and calum hadn't told mali and ashton yet of your guys' relationship, but they didn't ask either. the both of you were pretty sure that they already knew, though - due to the fact that calum was very into pda, and sometimes they would walk in on you two cuddling or just you two getting along.
and now it was the present day...
"cal, you need to get up, mali, and i made breakfast," you inform him as you stand beside the bed, hovering over him as your hand reaches for his hair. he turns to his side and looks up at you before retracting your hand from his hair and intertwining it with his.
"calum" your lips pout before you turn them into a frown. "fine" he huffs, "can i least get a kiss" his eyebrow arches as he looks up at me. you let your lips turn into a smile before placing them on his lips.
with the hand that was holding yours, you feel a light but effective tug, resulting in you falling on top of calum. "you're terrible." you shake your head before letting out a giggle.
"i've got you now," calum hums. he wraps his arms around you securely as he rests his face in your shoulder. you turn your head slightly to place a kiss to the the side of his head.
"ashton! you owe me fifty bucks!" the sound of mali's voice fills the room before rapid steps are heard running down the steps.
you'd turned your head to the bedroom door, which was now opened, you thought back to when you walked in before, remembering that you closed it behind you. "she knows, they know." your eyes widened as you turned back to calum.
"i'm surprised they didn't figure it out earlier" calum mumbles against your shoulder. "i've not been the most discrete" he admits. "but can you blame me? look at you" he says, pulling away from your shoulder, letting his eyes take you in.
"stop it!" you blush as you attempt to get out of his grasp. "no" he says, letting one of his hands reach up to your cheek. "you're beautiful, y/n" his fingers trace circles against your skin. "i'll never stop telling you that" he smiles before letting his lips rise to yours.
"thank you" you smile as against his lips, "for everything, calum" with that, you place another kiss on his jaw.
"so what was that bet about?" calum asks, walking into the kitchen. you follow behind him, looking over at ashton and mali, who were sitting at the table eating their stack of pancakes
"you two," ashton answers, "who won?" calum asked, already knowing the answer. he grabbed a plate of pancakes and sat beside his sister. you stood at the island as you were finishing up your food.
"me" mali spoke, "i knew something was going on between you two!" she exclaimed. calum chuckled before looking over at you. his fork had reached his lips as his eyes settled on you, "c'mere" he smiled at you.
you let out a small laugh as you pick up your plate and place it down on the table before taking the chair out from under the table. "i meant here, baby." he frowns as he opens up his arms.
"you guys are making me feel really single right now" mali sighed as she dropped her head to the table. "i don't care" calum shrugs, making you and ashton laugh.
mali raises her head from the table and sends a glare to her brother before looking over at you. you had tucked the chair back under the table and walked around the table to calum.
"i really have to show you that picture of him as a bratz doll" mali says, "he really pulled it off, didn't you cal?" she pointed her sarcasm over at calum, who just rolled his eyes.
you took a seat on calum's lap as he glared back at his sister. "is that really all you have against me" calum shrugs before he lets his arms settle around you. he drops his chin on your shoulder.
"so how are you this morning, ash?" you asked ashton as you pulled your plate towards you.
you and ashton began talking, leaving the two siblings to their squabbling and glaring
"are you guys coming!" ashton shouted from the bottom of the stairs. "we'll be five minutes!" you shout back.
at breakfast, ashton brought up seeing a poster of the winter wonderland fair that was being held tonight, so we all decided to attend.
"calum, will you do up my necklace?" you stood in front of the full-length mirror as your eyes locked with calum's through the glass.
he was in the middle of running a hand through his hair before he turned to look at you. he gave you a small nod before striding over to you, stopping when he reached a few inches behind you.
he let his hand scoop your hair over on one side of your shoulder before taking the small chain from your hands. he clasped it close, letting his fingers graze your nape.
you watched through the mirror as calum dipped his head, leaving small kisses on the side of your neck. his hand slightly tugging down the turtle neck you wore, leaving behind your exposed skin.
"cal-" your voice comes out breathy as you tilted your head to the side.
"will you two hurry up!" the sound of mali shouting from the bottom of the stairs left you both startled.
"we should probably go"
the four of you headed into an uber, ashton sitting in the passenger seat whilst you, calum and mali sat at the back.
mali was against you and calum sitting beside each other, so she sat in the middle. "you're so annoying," calum whispered, so the driver wouldn't hear.
you let out a small giggle as you see calum extending his hand out to you. before taking it, you see mali squatting his hand away. "i'm right here" she huffs.
"you're being really childish." calum shakes his head at his sister before letting it rest against the window.
"you need to stop being so touchy" mali argues back. "guys, let's not -" you shake your head with a smile to your lips.
"you're sitting in the middle on the way back"
"okay, what shall we do first?" ashton asks, the four of you huddled around together.
"i'm starving!" you exclaim with a pout on your lips. "let's get food, i wanna try that burger place" mali joins in. the four of you walk over to a burger hut. you and mali tell the boys your order before getting table.
"i'm so happy you two finally got together," mali smiles. "i know calum, and i pretend we don't get along, but i'm so happy to see him happy and finally be himself with you" she continues, "and now one of my best friends will eventually become my sister-in-law" she pouts as she pretends to wipe a tear off her cheek. you shake your head as you let out a laugh.
"thank you, though, that's means a lot, mali" you smile, "speaking of you and calum, have you told crystal, she'll be over the moon excited for you guys" mali giggles. "not yet, i was planning to call her tonight, but i have a feeling she already knows" you admit. "why" mali asks, her eyebrows furrowing.
"i spoke to michael a few days ago thinking it was crystal, and i just went on about -" you start, "well, calum" you shrug. "and i have no doubt that michael told crystal about it" you finish. "in that case-" mali chews on her inner cheek, "i'll admit she may already know- but i swear i didn't tell her" she says.
"have you seen calum's instagram recently?" she asks and you shake your head. "have a look" she urges.
so you do. you take your phone out of your bag and click onto instagram, tapping onto calum's account. you click on his recent post.
it was the picture mali took on our first morning at the cabin, me and calum tangled against the white sheets in bed. you felt deep red tint rise to your skin as you admired the picture.
"i didn't know my brother had it in him to be a romantic" mali says.
you giggle at the statement before reading calum's caption:
' we made it- it took eight years, but i finally have the girl of my dreams. it's you and me against the world, baby. i love you, always have and always will <3 '
you felt your eyes water at the caption, but quickly wiped them away when you raised your head back up at mali. "this is so cute" you point at your phone, "what's so cute?" you hear calum say.
you turn around in your seat, looking up at calum with a grin across your lips, "you" you tug on his sleeve, telling him to bend down. he does so, letting a kiss fall on your lips.
calum takes the seat next to you, his lips still on yours whilst his tongue runs across your bottom lip, "guys, food?" mali breaks the two of you up with the short sentence.
"oh yeah, i'm starving!" you squeal, calum let's out a chuckle before placing a kiss to the side of your head. he waits a few seconds before letting out a pretend yawn, his arms stretching out and then settling on the back of your chair.
"cliché"
"i'll hold your hand!"
you look over at calum, who sat on a bench with his arms crossed over his chest. "it's so embarrassing, i'll end up falling," he says. "i promise you won't, i'll be right be your side. look at ash. he was the same as you, and now he's doing great"
you stretch your hand out in front of calum, pointing over at the ice rink where mali and ashton were skating laps around the rink. "you'll be fine, calum" you bat your eyelashes whilst holding out your pinky finger. "i pinky promise baby"
"fine" calum huffs as he hooks his pinky finger on yours. "but you owe me since i'm literally going out there to embarrass myself" he sighs.
"thank you! thank you! thank you!" you squeal as you pull his arm, trying to pull him off the bench- it failed because he didn't move an inch. "get up" you shake his arm as you watch him smirk, amusement dripping off of him.
"you're so cute" he chuckled as he stood up from the bench. "mhm i know"
calum rolls his eyes playfully, you let out a scoff before hitting his chest, "come on," you say impatiently as you take his hand in yours, dragging him to the ice rink.
the two of you made your way to the counter and requested your skates. after a couple of minutes, you had received the skates, and you both took a seat on a bench to put them on and tied them up.
"stay there," you say calum as you rush over to the lockers, "not like i can move anyway, i'll end up falling" he states. you shake your head as you watch him lean back into the bench.
you pick up yours and calum's trainers from the ground and carefully make your way over to the lockers. after putting in the locker combination, you made your way back to calum.
"okay, you ready?" you ask calum, you let your hand push his legs apart, allowing you to stand imbetween them. he looks up at you, his bottom lip imbetween his lip. "what?" you coo as you raise your hand to cup his jaw. "why don't we just skip skating and do something else" he pleads, his hands find yours, tugging on them, making you take a seat on one of his thighs.
you adjust yourself on his thigh before letting your fingers trail his jaw. "you'll have fun" you pout, your fingers mindlessly trailing down his chest.
he catches your wondering hand with his, "kids" he says, darting his eyes to a group of children, who were staring at you both. "oh god" you say, embarrassed as you rush yourself off of calum.
calum lets out a laugh as he watches you turn flustered, a deep red tinting your cheeks. "come one then, before i change my mind" he takes your hand in his and wobbles over to the rink.
you walked onto the rink first, still holding onto calum's hand. he eventually made it onto the rink, earning glances of both adults and children as he struggled to balance himself.
"you're doing it!" mali exclaims, sneaking up from behind calum. calum jumps but holds onto you and the side of the rink. "god, mali. don't do that" he furrows his eyebrows at his sister. "you're doing great, cal." you smile as you watch him take small strides on the ice.
"ash, look!" mali exclaims, gaining ashton's attention. "well done, man, you're doing great" ashton beams as he strides over to the three of you.
"wanna try let go?" you ask calum, he nods in response, "stay close though, just in case" he shrugs, "i will, i'll be right beside you " letting go of calum's hand, you watch as he lets go of the side wall, taking small strides ahead.
he eventually starts taking longer strides around the rink, feeling much more confident from when he first stepped on the rink.
"how'd you find that?" you ask calum as you untie the skates off. "supringsly fun, thank you for making me do it" calum smiles.
the both of you were sat on the bench, now putting on your trainers and doing them up. calum leaned into your side, placing a kiss to your head once he had finished tying his shoelace up.
"where did mali and ahston go?" you ask calum, turning to your side. "on the rollercaosters" calum points out. "right." you bite your inner cheek, "what shall we do now?"
"i have an idea" calum pipes up. you hum in response. "the wheel?" he asks. your eyes shoot up at the illuminated wheel.
"it's a bit-" you begin to say, "high" you finish off by looking over at calum. "you helped me on the rink, now let me help you" he says. "cal, that's really high" you sigh, looking up at the wheel again, "i'll be right next to you, baby" he says, tucking a stray piece of your hair behind your ear.
you turn to look at calum again. "i'll hold your hand" calum turns the corners of his lips down as he bats his eyelashes at you.
"i guess this is karma for making you go on the rink" you huff, standing up from the bench, "come one then" you say, reaching out for his hand. he takes your hand in his and practically runs over to the line for the wheel.
"you'll be okay, i promise," calum reassures you, "i know." you smile, hugging into calum's side. "i've got you" you mumble against him. "you do, baby, you always got me. you've had me for eight years" calum whispers against the top of your head, leaving behind a kiss.
it eventually came to yours and calum's turn to sit in a carriage. the man guarding the ride strapped you both in, whilst you kept your eyes on calum, "if i just look at you, it'll be fine, i just won't look down" you state, tightly clasping onto calum's hand.
calum places another kiss to the side of your head as the carriage moves forward, your feet now off the ground and instead dangling.
calum brings his hand to your cheek as the carriage starts getting higher, "you're okay," he whispers.
"wanna try look down?" he asks. you nod as you unconsciously grip calum's hand tighter. you draw your eyes beneath you, looking at the lights that were lighting up the night sky.
"i-it looks beautiful," you state. "mhm, it does," calum says, his eyes never leaving you.
once the wheel had come to a halt, you and calum jumped out, giggling. " that was so fun!" you squeal, you let your arm link with calums as the both of you walk towards a nearby fire.
there were little bonfires scattered around, under little huts, to help keep warm. so you and calum entered a hut and stood beside the fire, letting your hand hover over the fire. you leaned into calum's side whilst doing so.
"look up" calum smiles. you look up at the wooden ceiling, seeing a mistletoe hanging down.
you giggle as you shuffle around calum, now standing in front of him, on your tiptoes. you let your arms wrap around his neck whilst he let his arms wrap around your waist.
you pull him down for a kiss, calum quickly slipping his tongue in, imbetween your parted lips.
"merry christmas, baby."
this took longer than i'd hoped :/
but thank you to those of you who asked for a part 2 to eight years! 🫶🏽
i initially had wanted to do something completely different with this, but i ended up with this!
also, there might be a part 3 to this

The sun pours down on your skin as you pluck the cherry, garnishing your soda. Separating the firm sweet fruit from the stem. Biting into its flesh as you work the pit from its center. You always loved summer days like this. Lounging in a beach chair as freshly mixed cherry cola clouded your mind. Your summer bliss was quickly interrupted by your mother calling out your name. Dissipating your sickly sweet fog as you took your earbuds out. “What?”
“Your brother and his friends are here,” she repeated, irritation lacing her voice.
You bit back a smirk as you gathered your things, slipped on the t-shirt you used as a coverup, and making your way back to the house.
Every summer, your mom dragged you and your brother, Micheal, to the family beach house. Even when he had gone off to be in a band, she would always remind him to try and come back for our yearly trip. She wanted you to give you the chance to having a bonding experience despite him being eight years your senior.
Now you were nineteen, and the tradition continued. But, this time, it was different. His bandmates decided to tag along on the trip, saying that maybe the change of scenery would help them write the album they’d been working on for the past couple of months. Your mother easily folded into the idea. “Anything to help my boys!” as she would always say.
When your mom told you the situation, you couldn’t help but smile, biting your cheek, trying to hide your reaction as your stomach twisted in on itself. That means you got to see him. Calum.
You’d known him your whole life, so many memories littered with him. When he would come over, strumming a guitar and mumbling lyrics to himself. Late nights spent talking when he would come home from tour, legs grazing each other innocently. Each time, causing a spark to shoot up your body and your cheeks to flush. As you’d gotten older, your attraction to him had only grown stronger. But you never pushed. You were young and in college, an average nobody. And well, he wasn’t.
The bright pastel purple color that was so vibrant in your young memory was now faded, standing, and storms slowly eroding it from the wood. You mourned the color sightly as you made your way up the steps. Sliding the glass door open, you’re met with cool air and laughter as you enter the house. “Look who decided to join us,” your mom says, causing embarrassment to waft over you as everyone turns to look at you.
Your eyes lock with his. His skin was tanner then you remember, eyes crinkling as he smiled. His buzzcut has grown out messily, but it’s cute, childlike almost. “Hey,” you wave shyly as if you haven’t known these people your whole life.
“S’up, kiddo,” Micheal asks, ruffling your hair. You quickly smooth it back down, letting out a small groan of annoyance. “Nothing,” you mumble half-heartedly. You quickly greet the others with a soft hello and a smile before rutting through the fridge and finding another cherry coke.
Everyone slowly departs from the kitchen, scattering to various concerns of the house. All but Calum. He lingers, hip leaning against the counter as his eyes rake up your legs, the shirt you were wearing barely covering anything. He would be lying to himself if he said he didn’t like it.
His tongue darted between his lips before he spoke. “So this is the famous beach house I always heard about,” his arms are crossed over his chest, t-shirt straining against his chest and biceps. “Mhm, that it is.” You nod, opening your soda with a crack as you hop onto the counter. Cold granite sends a shiver up your spine.
“You, uh,” you can hear the gears in his head turning as he selects the appropriate word. “You look good,” words are silky, but his body is so ridge, so scared to give in. His Adam’s apple bob as he swallows hard, regretting his words as soon as he said them.
You bite your cheek to hide your smile, a metallic taste melting onto your tastebuds as you bite down harder. “Thanks, you don’t look too bad yourself,” he chuckles, relaxing at your words.
There he is— peeling away his skin and bones and opening the deepest part of himself to dip back into the sticky sweetness he missed so desperately.

If only.
The way you commanded a room whenever you walked into it.
“Oh, guys. This is my sister, Y/N.”
Your bright eyes caught his attention first, followed by your aura. The way you carried yourself always captivated him. Your height was next, the way you could be either short or tall, depending on how confident you were that day. Nothing could ever stop him from staring at you, ever.
“I’m Calum.”
You repeated the man’s name in front of you, “Calum.”
His name rolled off your tongue like it was something you’d said a hundred times. You joined Michael on tour for about a month; Calum’s little crush starting to evolve into something bigger. His passion for you grew a little bit, then exploded like a wildfire. When you were in the wings, he could see the way you danced like no one was watching. It hit him right then and there how much he liked you, admired you, loved you.
That’s when the universe sent him the biggest sign he’s ever seen. You were looking for an apartment; he had an extra room in his. The way you came home the exact same way: your hair in a bun, flyaways sprouting from all around your head. His anxiety and worry leaving him the second he hears your keys unlocking the door. He’d spring up from the couch as you pushed the door open, greeting him as you’d pass through the kitchen. He’d hear you flutter off to your room, an airy graceful feeling lingering after you.
Minutes later - eight to be exact- you’d walk back into the living room after you’d change into your pajamas. Always a sweatshirt and sweatpants because he knew you’d get too cold if you wore a crew neck. You’d get on your tiptoes and pick a book, normally a different one every other day -he never understood why you read two books intermittently- for an hour or so. As you settled into the couch, Calum would follow your eyes that read each line, your brain creating a beautiful world from the words on the page.
He’d casually asking how your day was, whether it be the worst day you’ve ever had or the best one; he listened. Not only did he listen, he paid attention. Every mannerism, every pitch change, every voice crack, was something he picked up on. And when he and Michael would talk about you in the studio- all good things of course- Calum could make a scarily accurate impression of you. Even better than Michael.
His thoughts wonder what would happen if he did ask you.
He’s sure you’d reply in the affirmative. The way you lightly touched his arm when he said something funny, or even the way you looked at him was enough for him to tell sometimes. You’d walk around the house only in short shorts, making him want to take you on the dinner table right then and there; he’d be lying to himself if he said he didn’t think impure thoughts about you.
He thought of his fingers inside of you, wanting to make you cum multiple times on his fingers alone. He imagined every sound you’d make. Every whine. Every whimper. He’d often wonder if you were a whiner or a moaner. He thought about hearing his name fall from your mouth as he runs his lips over your neck, the euphoria that he’d feel. Him pushing you to your limit, your voice scratchy and hoarse from begging him to give you more. Kissing you hard, encouraging you, asking if you’re okay, wiping away your tears, telling you that you’ve been such a good girl for him. Kissing you and finishing together as your moans and heartbeats synchronize. Him rolling off you and immediately pulling you into his chest, not wanting to let you go because, fuck, this was all he ever wanted and more. You’d groan out of annoyance when he decides to get up and clean you with the softest towel he could find, jogging to the bathroom thinking of how much he loves you. Him returning to you in his green Empathy hoodie, slightly saddened to see that you’ve covered your body with an old Sounds Good Feels Good hoodie. Him telling you softly to spread your legs for him, and you happily obliging. The afterglow of you staring up at him in a subspace, him telling you how much you love him, eyelids drooping, sleep calling your name.
And when soft snores eventually erupt from you, he’d brush your hair out of your face to reveal your soft features. Your eyelashes resting along your perfect skin, eyes wiggling about underneath your eyelids. Hours later he’d hum to himself as he watched you sleep in his arms. He always wondered what you were dreaming about, guessing if it was him or something you did that day. The rising and falling of your chest mixed with your barely audible breaths were like heaven on earth to him. He’d smile and whisper sweet nothings into your ear, content knowing you’d never hear them.
And when he fell asleep, he’d dream of your life together. The way you permanently invaded his mind was something he’d never grow weary of. He’d subconsciously pull you closer as he slept until it was not physically possible, and even then wanting you closer. He’d imagine your wedding day, filled with light and the people closest to you. Someday having your own kids, maybe a pair of twins, who knows? He’s somewhat opposed the idea of having his own kids, but with you, he never gave it a second thought. Teaching them how to make pancakes on Saturday mornings when he was back from tour, you recording home videos that all of you’d watch some 10 years later.
“Cal?”
“Hmm?”
“Can you pass me the remote?”
“Yeah.”
If only.
