listen,,,,i know y'all want tcb! but have you ever thought about how the second i upload the final chapter that is literally it?? there is no more ahb! universe. there are no more ahb! characters. ahb! james and evan and barty and marlene ,, all their stories are just done. and i have to say goodbye to all my special little characters that live in my head and i have to part with them. even tho i love them so dearly. there will be no more of their story to tell. they all become different people in the next life (fic). did you ever think about that? huh?

you spent a good part of your childhood with nishinoya, chasing away the dogs that had a penchant of scaring your best friend shitless, climbing trees and playing treasure hunt
it was funny, to say the least, seeing how he grew from such a scaredy-cat to the energetic and confident noya everyone knows
throughout highschool you watched him chase girl after girl and he watched you turn down guy after guy
the dynamic you two had was that of a feral gremlin child and its chill owner holding the leash and everyone, including you two, thought you would always be together
everyday was fun with nishinoya's energy hanging around you, no doubt
but when he asked you to travel the world with him right after graduation, he was met with a hesitant refusal
"i'm planning to go to college, yuu"
"it'll be fun, y/n! like going on an adventure!!"
"visit me once in a while"
his heart clenched at the way you smiled at him with teary eyes, "i can't change your mind can i?"
with a soft shake of your head, he sighed
he leaves in three days
the first few months of him being away were filled with calls and pictures of his trips, smile seemingly wider and brighter than before and a part of you regretted not coming with him
but college starts in a week, and with that came missed calls and ignored messages
at some point, neither of you just remembered to hit the other up, caught up with the stresses of your own life and before either of you knew it, 5 years have passed
he came to visit home for the first time in years, no longer the boyish noya you knew but he still had that warm aura around him
you were the first thought to come to mind the moment he step foot in town, his whole body buzzing with excitement at the mere thought of seeing you again
so of course he went straight to your house, feet taking step after memorized step and hands clutching bags of things he got from his travels
"Y/N!!!!!", he calls out as he enters your house which was answered with a harsh shushing
turning a corner he saw you in the living room, lovely as ever-- he thought, and with a baby sleeping soundly in your arms, "the baby's sleeping, yuu"
"whose...?"
you laughed at the cracking in his voice, "mine, who else's?"
man, he looked like he was about to cry
he quietly approached you, careful as to not wake the baby
"for you", he mumbled while handing you the bag of snacks and stuff
the room was filled with silence after you hummed a short thanks
he was looking at the child's face, it looked like you, he thinks
he asked when you got married, "you didn't tell me, didn't even invite your best friend to your wedding", he whined
"i didn't, i'm not married"
his eyes were wide as they looked at you
you told him about getting pregnant shortly after college graduation and getting ditched
he thought of himself selfish as he heaved a sigh of relief
"it's fine though, my parents are helping me a lot", he notes how you looked at your baby with such fond eyes and his heart swelled, he felt like crying
you chuckled at the look on his face, "hey don't look so sorry for me, can't be happier to have her"
"what's her name?"
you looked at your daughter's face and pet at her cheek with a finger, "yui"
nishinoya couldn't hold it in anymore and so he let himself cry and pulled you close
and for the nth time since the day of your college graduation he asked you again, "come with me, y/n, let's travel the world" but you have a child "i'll stay with you here until she's old enough", he said while kissing the tears that slipped down your cheeks
"then we can all go travel the world together"

he liked working at the museum, he really does
at least that's what he tries to tell himself as he led the group of preschoolers through the sendai museum
they were cute, yeah, but also very chatty
especially this one little boy with the frog hat
"what's this called?"
"it's a fossilized remain of--"
"how about this one?"
"it's--", and before he could answer, the child was already running to the other side of the exhibit
he just sighs
the tour ended and he was getting ready for his lunch break, proceeding to the cafe by the entrance as he always does
his eyes almost caught the flurry of green that passed beside him but he chose to ignore it
but of course it wasn't long after he sat down with his order when he heard a familiar bubbly voice
"mama that's the dinosaur guy!", he heard the little boy whisper loudly, "he's so tall, like a brachiosaurus!"
he couldn't supress the chuckle at the child's remark and he turned in his seat, "so you were listening, i thought you were just bouncing all around the place"
"oh sorry, did he give you a hard time?"
your voice drew his attention and he smiled at the sight of your worried face, something that surprised even him, "not really, no"
he invited you two to sit and eat with him and he listened to your son ramble all about dinosaurs and prehistoric animals
"a smart one, i like him"
your son really liked him too and asked you to take him to the museum again and see tsukishima
and so it became a habit for you to visit the museum every friday with the little boy, waiting for the tall blonde to get off work so you three could grab something to eat
and every time he sees you in the little cafe by the entrancne with your son, tsukishima couldn't help but smile a little and pat at his chest to calm the subtle fluttering as he push the door open
it was a weird feeling he never knew would come so naturally at the mere sight of you two
he bought your son picture books and and figurines and copies of the "walking with dinosaurs" documentary
"we should watch it this weekend..." his eyebrows shot up for a moment at your meek suggestion
of course the little boy was elated, excited to have him over at your house "yes! let's go now! i wanna watch it with tsukki now!!!"
tsukishima returned his gaze on you, "if it's not too much trouble then i'd love to go now"
and so the rest of the friday night was spent on your couch with all the lights turned off and a narration of al the allosaurus' life
you looked over at the other side of the couch to see your son laying on tsukishima, eyes fluttering shut with the man passed out and lightly snoring
he must've been tired
you draped a blanket over the two of them and waited for sleep to visit you too and it soon did
morning came and you woke up to the smell of coffee
"i borrowed your coffee maker, i hope you don't mind", his voice was still low, trying not to wake the little boy
"yeah, sorry i didn't wake you up last night... you looked tired"
he chuckled as you walked over to the kitchen to take out two mugs and prepared some toast, "i don't mind, it was the best sleep i've gotten in a while. i hope it wasn't too much of a bother for you though"
you leaned on the kitchen counter as you took in his appearance; hair ruffled and eyes puffy with sleep, "i don't mind it one bit"
he huffed a laugh and looked over to the sofa where your son still laid
"he likes you a lot"
"so it seems, i hope you do too", his face was smug but you didn't miss the red that tinted his cheeks when you told him "of course i do, in fact i was thinking maybe we should do this more often"

his smirk grew, "just say you want to wake up everyday to the sight of me and leave it at that"
you rolled your eyes at his comment but smiled nonetheless, "oh shut up"
he had just come back from the nekoma volleyball team reunion, head lightly buzzing from the few bottles of alcohol kuroo forced down his throat
making his way through the carpeted hotel hall, he could barely make out the sound of little feet hurriedly padding on the floor and quiet sniffles
taking out the keycard to his room with the blissful thoughts of finally sinking into the soft mattress was interrupted by a soft bump on his thigh, a muffled thud and a small "ow..."
it took a few moments before the sight of the little boy on the hotel floor registered properly in his brain
it was well past 2 am... why the hell is there a child running around the halls
"uh... hi?"
big bright eyes looked up at him and he can't help but sigh at the sniffles increasingly growing louder
"where's your mama, little guy?", yaku crouched to the little boy's level, careful to keep his balance as the booze and exhaustion was catching up to him
however, at the mention of his mother, the little boy's eye filled up with more tears and was ready to burst anytime, "mama..."
"oh no no no no"
yaku's too tired for this
so with a sigh and a groan, he took the boy in his arms and entered his room
"let's look for her in the morning, okay? i think i still have some cookies in my room, would like some?"
the little boy nods his head, earning a relieved sigh from yaku
the rest of the night was spent with cartoons playing on the large hotel room tv, yaku leaning against the headboard with the little boy snoozing away while being tucked in his arm, cookie on his hand and crumbs all around
morning came and panic surged through your body the moment you realized your 3 year-old son was nowhere inside your hotel room
your hurried to the security desk to report and hopefully make an announcement, head reeling and aching with the sudden rush of adrenaline first thing in the morning
with your head in your hands, you let out a groan while trying not to cry at all the possibilites flashing through your mind
your wallowing was cut short with an "excuse me, i found this child last night"
turning your head back to the security desk, you see a man in his pajamas and slippers, hair ruffled from sleep and a sleepy little boy laying on his shoulder
"oh my god"
the whole conlict ended when you came up to them and introduced yourself, the little boy quickly recognizing your voice and whipped his head over to you, "mama!"
your son reached out for you and yaku couldn't help but notice how pretty your glossy eyes were despite how disheveled you looked
"mama, yakkun gave me cookies and we watched cartoons aaaaall night!"
yaku's eyes widened at the little boy's words and let out a nervous chuckle, "you make me sound so suspicious"
he turned to you and explained how your son bumped into him at 2 am and he was just too tired to bring him down to the security desk
"my tired tipsy brain thought it was a better idea to just let him sleep in my room and look for mama in the morning", he ended with the tips of his ears tinged red
you laughed at his nervousness, "well we can talk more about it over breakfast, what do you say yakkun? my treat"
with the way you were smiling at him, how could he even refuse?
the rest of the morning was spent with coffee and waffles, juice and fruits and chatter
he learned you and your son were in town for a few days, "i wanted to go see the fishies in the aquarium!", the little boy quips
with the new volleyball season just around the corner, yaku knew he'd have practices but he offered to tour you two around tokyo
he wanted to see you two again
briefly taking care of the toddler last night and having breakfast with you, he realized, were very much a welcomed change of pace in his hectic pro volleyball life
"are you my dad? mama told me daddy was working in tokyo" he remembered your son quietly mumbling last night, "i haven't seen him though, not ever"
the rest of your stay in tokyo was spent hanging out with yaku, your son growing more and more attached to him and slept over at his room every night
as promised, he took you and your son on a tokyo tour and even brought you to practice, introducing you to the national team and teaching your child receives
of course your trip eventually reached its end, promises of meeting again drowned in the little boy's tears as he tried to reach out to yaku
"we'll meet again, little guy", he says while ruffling the boy's hair, "i'll even go visit you and we'll play lots, okay?
of course he made a point of contacting you frequently, often video chatting during meal times and bedtime and a few more hours after, relishing in the time he could spend talking alone with you
"i can't wait to see you two again", he always says right after "good night"

Omg yes this would be so cute! I changed it up just a little bit to add some plot and now I kinda want to a part 2 to this but anyway I hope you like it!
Oh What A Night
Summary: Colin takes care of you while you are drunk and you accidently confess to him.

Colin didn't expect your friends to call him. He was just getting ready to head home from the station when he got a call from an unknown number, he raised his eyebrow at it but answered it anyway. “Hello?”
“Is this Colin?” 
“Yeah who is this?” 
“This is Ari, (y/n)’s friend.” He was a little taken aback, he stopped what he was doing giving his whole attention to the person on the other end. “Can you come and get her?”
“Is she okay?” He asked, concern laced in his voice.
“Ehhhh, she’s fine just like really drunk.” Your friend shouted over the noise of the bar.
“I’m sorry but why did you call me?” 
“She asked for you.” His heart skipped a beat at hearing that. Colin had had a crush on you for a while now, you worked at the station in the records department and you two had become quick friends. He really liked you but was scared of ruining your guys friendship. 
“Okay I’ll be right there.” 
When Colin got to the bar he found you sitting at the bar surrounded by your friends. You all were a giggling mess except for one friend who had an annoyed look on her face as she watched the rest of you. He was guessing she was your guys designated guardian for the night. She saw him walk in and gave a sigh of relief motioning him over. “Hey thanks for coming, I tried to get her to come home with the rest of us but she kept saying she wanted you.” Colin nodded. 
“Okay girls.” Ari called grabbing your other friends by their hands. “Let’s go.” They all groaned as she dragged them out of the bar. 
Colin made his way to you. “Hey (y/n). 
You looked up at him, eyes squinting. “Heyyyyyy it’s you!” You giggled out. 
“Yeah it’s me.” He let out a little laugh at the way your voice slurred. “You ready to go?” 
“No I can’t go.” You gave him a lopsided smile. “I’m waiting for my friend to come and pick me up.” You had already forgotten it was Colin who was right in front of you. Colin had dealt with his fair share of drunks before so he just decided to play along in the hopes he could convince you to come home. 
‘You friend?” 
“Mhmm.” You sat up straighter in your stool. “His name is Colin Zabel and he’s the detective from the county.” He laughed at how you introduced him. 
“Is that so?”
“Yeah. He's the best detective ever!” You shouted, other people looked over at you with annoyed looks but Colin just gave you an amused one.
“Really he’s the best?”
“Uh-huh. He’s so smart and sweet and kind. And his eyes.” You let out a big sigh. “His eyes are so pretty I could get lost in them. ” He felt his face heat up at your words, he couldn't believe that you thought his eyes were pretty. He had always found them to be dull and boring himself. You rambled on giving him compliments here and there. He ate them up nodding along and turning more red with each word. Then you stopped and leaned in closer towards him. Propping your face up in your hand, he mirrored your action. “You wanna know a secret?”
“Sure.” He smiled softly at you. A part of him knew he should be trying to convince you to leave but the more selfish part of home wanted to sit here with you longer. You looked around before pulling him closer by his coat. He blushed at how close you were to him, you leaned in close to his ear. “I have a crush.” You whispered giggling. 
Colin felt his heart drop at your confession, a sick feeling overtaking his chest. That was the last thing he wanted to hear at the moment. Because as wonderful as you are if you had a crush on someone he knew it would be on someone who he could never compete with. Someone far better than him. He slowly got up and readjusted his coat. “I think we should get going.” 
“Wait!” You said reaching for him, and falling off your stool. He caught you and helped you back up, you were staring at him intently with your big doe eyes. “Don’t you wanna know who my crush is?”
“(y/n) I-”
You stopped him by placing your hand over his mouth. “Shhhh. I need to tell you my crush.” He shook his head in ano and you nodded yours. “Yes let me!” You leaned up to whisper in his ear. “I have a crush on…” You paused a fit of giggles overtaking you. He closed his eyes waiting for you to say the name of some random guy. And preparing himself for the utter desperation he would have when he heard a name that wasn't his. You started again trying to stop yourself from giggling. “I have a crush on Detective Colin Zabel from the county!” You pulled away and he looked at you with a shocked expression. 
“What?” 
“I have a crush on Colin Zabel from the county!” You said it again louder now, but right in his ear. He felt his face split in a smile. He knew it was a chance that this was just the alcohol talking but it gave him hope that maybe you really did return his feelings. He looked down at you to see you had fallen asleep on his arm. He gently shook you awake. You rubbed your eyes and yawned looking up at him. “Hey Colin! When did you get here?” You asked, he let out a sigh at your relapsed memory. 
He resisted the urge to ask you about your drunk confession and just gave you a gentle smile. “I came to take you home.”
“Okay!” 
It was a struggle to get you into your house. You kept tripping over your own feet and stopping him to make him look at some random thing you had found. After a while he decided it would be easier if he just carried you in. He picked you up bridal style and you squealed holding tightly  onto his shirt. He unlocked your door and carried you through the doorway. “Just married!” You screamed confusing his actions. You turned to face him and grabbed his face in your hands and kissed him. He stiffened in your touch but before he could react you had already jumped out of his arms. He placed a hand over his mouth still trying to process what had happened. 
When he looked back up you had disappeared. He started to panic until he saw the light illuminating from the hallway. He rounded the corner and saw you huddled over the toilet puking your stomach out. He kneeled down next to you and pulled your hair back for you, rubbing your back as you started to dry heave. You reached up to flush the toilet and clean your mouth. 
“Sorry you had to see that.” You said with a raspy voice. 
“It’s okay. I’ve spent more than my fair share of nights puking into a toilet.”
You smiled at him and moved to sit next to him on the floor. You leaned your head on his shoulder and he wrapped his arm around your shoulders. “Let’s get you to bed.” 
“No.” You said snuggling closer to him. 
“Come on you need to get to bed.” 
“But if I go to bed you’re going to leave me.” You mumbled, voice muffled by his shirt. 
“I won’t leave.” 
“Really?” You asked turning in his arms to face him. 
“Really.” he smiled and held you up. You didn’t feel like changing so you just collapsed on your bed and pulled the covers closer to your body. He moved to leave but you stopped him. “Lay with me?” 
“I can’t.” You got out of bed and went over to him. You took his hand and led him back to the bed and ladi down, motioning for him to lay down with you. You wrapped his arms around you and scooted yourself closer to his stiff form. You laid face to face, he watched as your eyes fluttered closed and you drifted into a deep slumber. 
He slowly moved your arms off him and got out of the bed. As much as he would like to lay with you he didn't feel right doing it right now. He didn't want you to wake up and wonder if he tried to take advantage of you. He closed your bedroom door and made his way back to the living room. He laid down on the couch and draped his coat over himself, he had promised you that he would stay. 
You woke up with a pounding headache, you covered yourself with your blanket trying to block the streaming sunlight. You felt yourself drifting back to sleep until you sprang up in bed the memories of last night coming back to you. You slowly got out of bed and made your way to the living room. It was empty, you let out a sign of relief last night. It must have been a dream. 
You turned to go to the kitchen and felt your heart stop. Colin was at your stove cooking up breakfast and wearing your apron. Upon seeing you he gave you a playful smile. “I see sleeping beauty is finally up. You had quite a night last night.”

Thankful
I sniffed the air with a drool, smelling that delicious roast turkey that my dad was cooking up. It was a family recipe that we had used every Thanksgiving. Dad had never even tried to deviate from it since my mom passed when I was not even a year old. My dad told me it was hers, and cooking the turkey her way made it feel like she was back home for the Holidays. 
Thanksgiving has been a big family occasion ever since, though the “family” was just the two of us. My dad valued that family time more than anything. After what happened with mom, he was absolutely devastated for the longest time. But he worked hard to make his way up through the ranks, and told me every single day to be grateful for what I had so I could have a good future myself.
“Ritchie! The turkey is ready! Come eat dinner with your old man.”
I opened my drawer and pulled out a jar filled with a translucent, red liquid along with a syringe. “Coming, dad!” I pondered if this was really the right thing to do. With a sigh, I put the serum back. No, he had done a wonderful job of being a role model parent. I had bought this serum from the shady kid at school before we graduated, and he told me it could turn the victim into a suit by emptying them out. A wearable suit. My dad didn’t deserve that. He had worked hard and chose not to abandon me when he could have. 
I ran downstairs and saw the delicious Thanksgiving feast before me. Roast turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, a homemade pumpkin pie, and a beautiful salad. I immediately sat down and started eating as my dad watched with a grin. ”Oh come on, no thank you?  On Thanksgiving?” He said jokingly. 
“Thanks, dad. And...I want you to know I’m thankful for everything. I know I’m going off to college soon, so...I mean, you’ve worked so hard to....to provide everything for me and get me where I am, I wanna be thankful.” 
Dad smiled, almost looking like he was on the brink of tears. “Let’s just eat, alright?” He started to dig in with me as we had a delicious Thanksgiving feast together.

A few hours after dinner, and I rested in my, eyeing the drawer with the bodysuit serum. Perhaps I could use it on someone else, someone who might deserve it. 
Knock knock
Startled by the unusual late night disturbance, I opened the door to see Dad standing there, shirtless. Looked like he was getting ready to go to bed.

“Hey, Ritchie, you mind if I come in?’ He gave me the most wholesome smile, a reminder of the close bond we had. 
“Yeah, sure, what’s up?”
He walked in and plopped himself onto my bed, hunched over with his legs spread out as he rubbed his hands together. 
“Hey buddy, you’re going to college soon, and...I know, I know, maybe it’s not a big deal for you or whatever. I mean, you took this gap year, and you’re probably tired of your old man by now.” His body tensed up as he chuckled before giving a long sigh. ‘I just wanna say I’m really proud of you, and I’m thankful for you. I know sometimes...I know you told me that sometimes you feel guilty, because I had to raise you as a single parent...but I don’t regret it at all.”
 My eyes teared up as I head his words. It was true, it felt awful. He never gave me up for adoption, he was never selfish, he had been the role model parent for me. Accepted me the way I was. Even with my homophobic grandparents, my father had told me he didn’t care, because I was his son. He had supported me every step of the way. He never went out looking for another woman, truly in love with my mother, and wanting to give me 100% of his attention. 
“Dad...I have to be honest. I don’t want to go to college. It just...it doesn’t seem right to me. But-”
“You’re an adult, Ritchie. You get to make your own decisions. If that’s how you feel, go that route. Don’t let your old man try to live your life for you. I worked hard so you could have the life you want, not for you to be unhappy. I’ll support you, no matter what choice you make.”
At a loss for words, I jumped out of bed and hugged Dad and felt his arms wrap around me.
“Dad, I really meant what I said earlier. I couldn’t have asked for a better father.” 
“I love you, son. No matter what, don’t ever forget that.” 
As I hugged him, the option tugged at my conscience. in his compassion and fatherly affection, the guilt ripped me apart. I wanted it more than ever. 
I got up from him and turned to the drawer. As he got up to leave the room, I said, “Wait, uh...I’ve um...got something for you.” 
“Yeah? What is it, champ?”
I opened the drawer and slipped the syringe through the top of the jar, watching the liquid seep into the it. 
“Just...uh...hold on a sec, alright?”
He gave a deep chuckle. “Yep, I’m waitin’.”
“I’m really sorry, Dad.”
I looked behind me and saw his concerned face. He was loving and supporting, and wanted to comfort me. “I already told you Ritchie, I’m proud of you. I don’t want you to feel gui-”
I swiftly turned around and jabbed Dad in the neck with the syringe, injecting him as he was startled. He pulled my hand away and pushed me back.
“Ritchie, w-what the hell was that?” His large, meaty hand patted his neck as he gave me a confused look. 
“A...a bodysuit serum. I’m really sorry, Dad.”
“What the hell is that? What did you do? Is this some kind of prank?”
“N-no...I don’t....I don’t know...” I felt great guilt as Dad suddenly started groan and cup his face in his hands.
“Oh...fuck...i-it burns! WHAT DID YOU DO?” He tried to leave the room, but I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him back in, covering his mouth as he yelped. He was, of course, much stronger and bigger than me, but even in this moment of peril, he wasn’t willing to hurt his son. He pushed me back slightly as he fell back and hit the wall, slumping as his head hung down, struggling to keep it up. 
“Fuck...Ritchie, please, call an ambulance! W-what are you doing?”
“It’s gonna turn you into a suit. I’m gonna wear your skin, Dad.” 
His face was a mixture of confusion and horror. “THIS ISN’T FUNNY, RITCHIE!” 
“I already told you, I’m really sorry Dad...but I’m gonna have your body. I’m gonna wear that skin of yours!” I menacingly approached him, still unsure if this was what I wanted to do. 
“W-What do you mean? Did you...drug me?” The pain appeared to be ramping up as Dad’s face contorted and he wiggled against the wall, yelping every now and then while he clutched his stomach. 
“I told you I didn’t want to go to college. I’m really sorry to say this...but I’m going to go straight to work, Dad. I want to wear your skin. I want to live your life, talk to your friends, do your job...please don’t make this harder than it has to be. It’s just because you’re the man I want to be.”
Dad started to cough as he looked slightly paler than before, wrestling out what words he could. “W-what are you going to do?” He clenched his jaws as he built up the courage the ask. “You’re creeping me out Ritchie! W-what do you mean wear my skin? You’re not a monster!” He stumbled over his words in terror, in denial of his fate.
“Nothing like that! I just know that I can’t wait to slide into you, slipping into your empty, lifeless skin, stretching every wrinkle of yours, and to talk to everyone...and not a single person will know. I really am sorry.”
Looking disturbed by his own son’s words, Dad tried again for the door. This time, I managed to grab him and put him in a chokehold.  I could feel him getting softer as he was turned into a suit, and he was a lot weaker because of it. He started to panic with shallow breaths as I watched his bare feet scrape against my bedroom carpet, desperately trying to get out of my grasp. I could feel him almost ready. 
I stood up with him still in a chokehold and moved to drag him over to the bathroom. I kicked open the door and turned on the light, I threw Dad forward as he hit the bathtub.
“I told you, I’m thankful for you, Dad. You’ve given me so much, and you’re about to give me everything.”
I grabbed him by the shoulders and pushed his head into the tub as the goo started to eject from his mouth. My very unfortunate father flailed and attempted to back up from the tub, gaining momentary freedom. “R-RITCHIE! STO-MMMMPH!!!” 
I quickly slammed his face back towards the tub when I noticed him desperately clenching his mouth to keep the goo inside, trying to retain what little was left of him. I reached my left arm over his face and the right under his chin. I used both of my hands to clip onto his lips; I knew Dad wouldn’t bite me, he was too good of a father. With my left arm and held his upper face steady as I pulled his mouth open with my right hand. He whimpered as he looked at me, as if one final plea to talk. Slowly, but surely, his mouth started to open with a cry as he weakened. Prying his mouth open, Dad shuddered and yelped as the goo plopped out of his mouth. Clearly unable to fight for any longer, I released the pressure and grabbed him by the hair with my left hand. I could feel his head almost...folding in on itself, as it emptied. I tugged his head back into the tub until Dad was mostly deflated and empty. His hands let go of the tub and fell to the ground in a folded pile, while his legs had completely folded at the knees, while his face drooped into the bathtub. I felt a severe guilt. Dad, the man who had given me everything, who had been supportive of me, who had been the best father he possibly could’ve been, was gone. All that was left was this bodysuit of him. 
I grabbed his hand, and noticed there was some goo left in him. I picked the arm of the suit up from the fingers and squeezed out the remaining goo as it fell right out from his mouth, until he was completely empty. Turning on the bathtub, the goo sunk into the drain.
I grabbed the bodysuit by the scalp and held it up, and his shorts and underwear slipped off. I could just barely hold the suit so Dad’s feet wouldn’t touch the ground; he was a man of incredible stature. Every crevice of his folded over itself, while the mouth and eye sockets dragged downwards, creating an O-face with bags. Even though I knew it was me who did it, the macabre visual of my own father’s lifeless skin could only seek to unsettle me. I intended to remedy that. 
Dropping the bodysuit to the floor, it fell as a haphazard pile of skin and hair with a slap. I took off my own clothes and tossed them onto the floor. I hooked my fingers onto Dad’s lips and started to stretch his mouth as wide as I could. I dipped my toes in, forcing one foot through Dad’s body, then the other, until both fit snugly into his feet. You can’t believe this. You just can’t!

“Hey, are you alright?” Bokuto Koutarou looked at you with utmost sincerity in his eyes. You looked up and wondered if he really was worried or just being polite but either way, you stared right at his pupils.
“I am.” You agreed, letting go of his gaze and wanting to end the conversation.
This was your fifth date with him but there were no sparks since the first. You just didn’t feel his vibes and he could be so noisy at times which you hated. There was selfishness underneath his skin and it reeked in your nostrils. You hated egotistic people and you weren’t going to tolerate this much longer.
What your friends saw in Bokuto, you had no idea! They were all swooning over him when they set you up on a date together. They kept saying that he was perfect so you, being the hopeless romantic that you are, expected a prince who would be a gentleman, who would listen to you talk for hours on end, who would be so loving and caring… But instead, you were presented with boastfulness and chaos all wrapped up into one big muscle of a man! He did look like a prince but that was it!
“You know you can tell me right? I’ll listen.” You didn’t mistake the softness in his voice as he continued to stare at you lovingly.
You didn’t know if it was the beautiful place that he brought you to or if it was his kindness that made your brain turn into mush. But for the first time in five dates, your heart was hammering, its beats already like drums in your ears.
“I-I’m fine.” You stuttered and kept your eyes on the horizon.
You heard him sigh beside you on the railing you were both leaning on. The place you both drove to was divine as it overlooked the city. The twinkling lights below were mimicking the stars above and there were lanterns that hung overhead as well, casting the whole place in a lazy glow. You took a deep breath of the fresh air as you calmed yourself from the most stressful day of your life and from your whirlwind of a date.
A little rustling was heard and before you knew it, you were enveloped in warmth and his scent. Bokuto wrapped his jacket around you, letting you face him, so that he could pull the zipper up to your chest.
“There, so you won’t have to worry.” He smiled sweetly.
So he did notice the large coffee stain on your shirt and not once did he show that he was irked by it. You tried your best to cover it but of course you can't. Everyone at work gave you the side glance or the 'what-the-fuck-happened-to-you' look but he didn’t!

This can’t be happening. Were you reminiscing all those moments with Koutarou? AND NOW YOU’RE CALLING HIM KOUTAROU?!
You rolled around on your bed, a pillow tucked underneath your arms. A muffled scream was released as you felt an intense tingling sensation all over your body. You were supposed to end that fifth date! You were supposed to tell him that you both should see other people!
But the way he acted that night… it was as if he’s… perfect.

“Today has been s-so hard.” You cried in his shirt. “I keep on trying my best but it’s like I’m not doing enough. I'm not enough.”
The gentle rocking of your body stopped as he heard the words fall out of your mouth.
“Hey, don’t say that.” He cooed and trying to hold you at arm’s length. “You’re more than enough.”
You shook your head and tried to avoid his eyes again as he searched for yours. Fingers gripped on your chin to steady you and you melt for the nth time tonight.
“Don’t be too harsh on yourself. Alright? This day may have been difficult for you and maybe there are more days that would be the same but you shouldn’t doubt your efforts. The fact that you made it through, that’s already something to be grateful about.” He said while wiping your tears away. “But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t cry about them once in a while. Let yourself feel but then get back up again, yeah?”
You nodded but you felt another round of sobs escape your mouth. He pouted as he saw your wounded state and again, you were held close to his broad chest, away from the hurt, the pain, the stress…

“You wanna dance?” He offered his hand out to you, smiling shyly. You were surprised at his somehow timid expression as you were so used to him being his confident self.
“I don’t know how.” You said breathlessly as you stared at his gorgeous face.
He let out a chuckle and reached out for your hand under the table. “Let’s figure it out, c’mon.”
The platform was small and there were four couples slowly dancing to the romantic song that was being played by a live band.
He led your hands to encircle his neck while his rested on your waist. All the motions, even the slightest graze of his skin on yours, were making your mind hazy. Everything seemed to blur and the only thing that made sense were the two of you in each other’s embrace.
“You’re so tall.” You whispered mindlessly which made him chuckle. He noticed that you could barely wrap your arms around his neck and that your arms were getting floppy due to fatigue. He then guided you to hug him around his waist instead so he could pull you closer.
“I’ve never danced like this before.” He confessed, swaying stiffly at the music.
“I can tell.” You giggle and look up at him in time to see him pout.
He poked your side, deliberately tickling you for a while. “That’s mean.”
“But it’s my first time too. And I kinda like it.” You said shyly, feeling your cheeks warm even with the cold night air.
“You think you could get used to it?” He asked, hope laced in his question.
“Of course.” You smiled up at him.
He smiled back and his eyes twinkled as he stared. He scooped your right hand and brought it to his lips for a quiet kiss then slowly intertwined your fingers with his, all while maintaining eye contact.

“AHHHHHHHHH!” You screamed into your pillow again as your head played that scene.
Sleep was so far away now that your adrenaline was so high because of him! You swore you could still feel his lips on your skin. It was as if he imprinted it there and nothing on earth can take that away now.
“Bokuto, stop haunting me! Let me sleep!”

“Now, listen here, missy.” The owner of the restaurant pointed to you sternly as she stood behind the counter. “Tell this boyfriend of yours to stop going here and actually get some much deserved rest! Athletes shouldn’t be tiring themselves!”
You chuckled at her actions and stole a glance at Bokuto who’s pouting excessively at the older woman with his hair seemingly deflating at her ministrations.
“But I like your food!” He whined.
The woman clicked her tongue, as if annoyed. “You can have better food from where you live. Now, stop pestering me!”
“I will come back here more often if you say that!” He smirked and leaned on the counter.
“As if! I know you’ll come back no matter what happens.” She rolls her eyes then turned to you. “We can’t get rid of him even if we wanted to!”
They kept bickering back and forth as you waited for the fruit shakes and other snacks that Bokuto ordered for takeout. It was a long drive back home and he said didn’t want you to get thirsty or hungry. You just listened to their banters and even though they were dissing each other out, you can’t miss the loving and motherly look the owner had for Bokuto.
“You’re a regular here?” You asked him as you settled on the carseat.
“I’m a fan of the view. And as you saw, I’m quite close with the owners and the workers. This is my safe space.” He replied and started the engine.
“When was the last time you went here?” You inquired, suddenly curious of his whereabouts.
“Yesterday.” He shrugged. “And the day before that. And maybe the whole of last week.”
Your eyes widened at his answer. “This is like two or three hours away! How?!”
“I needed some place to relax. And think.” He smiled sadly as maneuvered the car to begin the journey back home.
“Are you alright?” You blinked at your question. His voice seemed low and so sad in contrast to his usual loud and noisy screeches that you were so damn used to. This Bokuto in front of you was so hard to read!
He turned to you for a split second before averting his eyes on the road. “I am. I guess.”
“Don’t hide from me.” You bit your lip hard as you repeated his words to you. You wanted to know him more, to understand his feelings, and to make him feel better.
“Hey, you can’t use my lines against me.” He laughed lightly as he looked at you. Your eyes were begging him to tell you how he is and who was he to resist? “I’m just nervous about the incoming games, that’s all.”
“You still get nervous?” You turned to him, a little surprised.
“Why are you so shocked? Of course, I do! Some less nerve- wrecking than the others but I do always get tension at every game.” He sighed and ran a hand through his hair while thinking. “But the upcoming match is a qualifying game for the Olympics so everyone is anxious.”
“Who are you against with?” You asked.
“See, now that’s another one of my worries. The competitors have still not been announced so we have to wait for a month. A whole month! What am I supposed to do?!” He said exasperatedly. “And just last week, one of our teammates got injured so they gave us time off. You know, to rest and shit. But I am restless and—"
“So that’s why you come all the way here?” You concluded.
“Yeah.” He breathed. “The drive gets my mind off of the anxiety and their food just makes me feel like I’m home.”
‘So he is human after all.’ You said to yourself. It was the simplest realization but it did so many wonders for your feelings and understanding towards him.
The drive home was filled with stories of sadness and laughter. You both sipped at your drinks and munched at the chips he bought. And as you both neared your home, it dawned on you that this was the best date you’ve ever had in your life! Bokuto’s so laid back and chill, kind and generous. He listened so intently and patiently to all your life stories and he had a good memory too, remembering the things you’ve told him about yourself in the past dates.

You sighed while sitting up. There’s no question that you were falling in deep for this guy. During the drive, he became his noisy self, acting all the spikes he did at the games comically but instead of being annoyed, you had tears in your eyes because you had laughed so much at his acting. You loved listening to him talk and you realized he wasn’t selfish at all!
Go figure.
Maybe you just mistook his confidence for selfishness and egocentricity.

You can’t believe that you were itching to lengthen the time you had with him. The car was now parked in front of where you lived and it was time to say goodbye.
Your eyes met and there was a tinge of sadness in his eyes which surprised you.
“Look.” He turned to the passenger seat and leaned closer. “I know that I’m not the best date there is and you may have been agreeing to these just because of obligation from your friends but… I’d like you to know that I—“
Closing his eyes, he exhaled. “I really like you.”
As the words were uttered, your body visibly tenses under his gaze.
Panic rises in his gut as he realized what he did. “S-sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“N-no!” You tried to swallow. “You didn’t scare me.”
“Then why do you look like you’ve seen ghost?” He chuckled lightly not giving up his stares.
Your shoulders slumped as you sighed. “I’m just surprised, that’s all.”
He nodded, still looking. “I guess this will be our last, huh?”
“What?”
“I know you don’t like me and you hate my company. I just really like you so I tried to drag it out for so long.” He said sheepishly as he deflated back into his seat. “I don’t want to make you uncomfortable and I’m so sorry if I did.”
This was not how you imagined ending your date. You were supposed to be the one saying that this will be the last. You were supposed to be excited about not seeing him again. You were supposed to go now! But the universe really did pull a reverse card on you today.
“Bokuto…” You started, feeling the guilt consume you to the bones. “I’m sorry if I made you feel that I didn’t like you.”
He was fiddling with his fingers now.
“It's just that your first impressions lasted so bad that it blinded me to who you really were.” Be honest. Just be fuckin’ honest! “I did think I didn’t like you but after tonight, you proved me wrong.”
His face looked at you in a flash, eyes finding the meaning behind your words.
“I didn’t know you could be like this!” You gestured to him, a little frustrated because your heart was pounding so bad and it became so difficult to breathe.
“Like what?” A smirk was beginning to form at his lips.
“This!” You laughed. “You’re fun to be with. You’re calm and reliable when needed. And just… yeah.” You’re just perfect.
You stared at each other’s eyes for a while longer, trying to read and drown in each other.
“If you don’t mind, I’d like to give it another try?” You asked, hoping to god he’ll say yes to your request.
His eyes widened for a moment and his gray hair perked up a little bit.
“I told you I like you.” He smiled. “Why would I say no to that?”

Your phone beeped beside you. And if you weren’t so red enough from the memory, you knew that you were flaming red now.
It was a text from Bokuto.
Can’t sleep :(
You sighed at what he said. His anxiety about the game catches onto him so much that he often gets insomnia. The poor baby. You were about to reply when another text popped out.
I may or may not be outside your home.
“What?!” You panicked while swiftly looking for a hoodie to put on. Why is he here and why were you feeling excited at the thought of seeing him?
You asleep, little owl?
You bolted towards the doors and true enough, he was there, leaning on his car and dazzling in all his six feet and three inches glory. He looked unreal in this light even in his simple hoodie and joggers.
“I’m sorry, did I wake you?” His husky voice greeted you as you walked closer.
“No. Can’t sleep too.” You smiled. “What brings you here?”
He shrugged. He didn’t know what came over him when he closed your distance and hugged you tight. To him, you looked like an angel sent to earth only for his eyes to see! You were in an oversized hoodie, hair a little tousled, and your face was so calm under the moonlight. Something inside him prickled at the thought of being domestic with you.
Slowly your arms wrapped around his waist and you surrendered your weight to him. In that moment, he felt like he would burst! Never did he expect for this to happen, for you to give him a chance, but here you were. He deeply breathed in your scent and planted a kiss on the top of your head.
“Do you want to hang out tomorrow?” Your voice was a mere whisper when you looked up at him.
“Like a date?” He grinned and wiggled his eyebrows playfully.
“Yeah?” You nodded.
He wondered if you had any idea about how you're making him feel crazier by the minute. If you don’t, then that’s much worse. “What am I gonna do with you?” He chuckled, arranging stray locks of your hair.
“You can go on a date with me.” You laughed and he was sure, so sure, that you felt his heart do a cartwheel when you were resting your head on his chest.
“I’d like that.” He replied hugging you tighter.
It was funny to you that you planned that fifth date to be the last. It turned out to be the first. The first real date where you felt like a princess in a fairytale. It was the first out of a never- ending series of romantic dates because Bokuto Koutarou had no plans of letting you go. Ever.

It was currently 10 p.m. and you were with the boys of P1h on their practice room. You were Theo's best friend and he invited you to come see him practice, because he knew how much you liked to watch him perform.
"Hey guys, what if we played something?" Jiung suggested as he took the final bite out of his food.
The members had already finished practice and you guys were all just talking, eating and goofing around as usual.
"Sure, but what should we play?" Intak asked as he too finished eating.
"Well we could play truth or dare!" Keeho said excitedly as he picked up his water bottle to take a sip.
"Okay, sounds good! What do you think Y/n?" Theo asked while he softly looked at you.
"I'm down!" You said as you becme shy due to Theo's gaze.
"Me too!" Said Jongseob as he smiled.
"Yeah, let's play!" Soul said as he clung onto Keeho.
"Okay I'll start!" Jiung said. "Uhmm... Jongseob, truth or dare?"
"I'm going with truth!"
"Is it true that you think you're better than Eminem?"
"WHAT? OF COURSE I AM!" Jongseob said as we all started laughing out loud at the youngest's confession.
"Okay Jeminem it's your turn!" Jiung said as he wiped a tear that he shed because of laughing.
The game went on for a while and everyone was getting kind of tired and besides that you still had to clean up the place before going home! So you agreed to play one more time and then everyone would clean up, but things didn't really work like that.
"Okay, Theo truth or dare?" Intak asked like an excited puppy.
"I want to go with... Dare!" Theo answered while smiling. God his smile was beautiful.
"Well..." Intak started but stopped when Keeho whispered something that made the puppy like male smirk. "I dare you to stay here with Y/n and clean up!" He said and everyone besides you and Theo started cheering.
"You can't do that! We all agreed to clean up together!" Theo said trying to sound mad, but he sounded quite excited... Did he want to be alone with you?
"A dare is a dare my dear friend! So have fun cleaning up!" Keeho said while smiling.
"Do I not get a say in this?" You asked kind if shocked by the while situation.
"Well... No! Bye bye!" Intak said as he waved goodbye left the room with the other members following suit.
"Jeez! Sorry that this happened!" Theo said while looking at you with an apologetic look.
"It's fine Taeyang! It isn't your fault! And at least we have each other's company while we clean up!" You said as you smiled at him.
"Yeah you're right let's clean up so we can go rest! I'm sure you're tired!" He said as he patted your head softly.
"But definitly not as tired as you are! You killed it during practice!" You said smiling att the blush forming on his cheeks.
"Thanks Y/n, that means a lot coming from you!" He said as you guys started cleaning up.
Your little cleaning session was made up of you guys talking about random events that had been happening and laughing with each other while cleaning the mess on the floor. Once you were finished you went to the door to open it in order to walk home.
"No no no no no no!" Theo said as he pulled the doorknob as hard as he could.
"What's wrong Tae? Why isn't it opening?" You asked as you watched the boy in front of you struggle.
"It's locked! The boys must have locked it out of habit! Oh my god and they're probably already at the dorm!" He said as he put his hands through his hair.
"Okay let's calm down! You can just call one of the boys or something and they can come unlock it!"
"You're right, you're right!" Theo said as he picked up his phone to call Jiung since he was the last one to exit the practice room.
"Hello?" Jiung said.
"Hey Ji, uhm did you lock the practice room door?" Theo asked trying to sound as calm and collected as he could.
"Uhm no I didn't! I even left the key next to your bag so you wouldn't forget to lock it when you're done."
"WHAT? THEN WHY DOESN'T THE DOOR OPEN???" Theo said very distressed and because of that you put your hands on his shoulders in order to calm him down.
"Bro I don't think anyone is is the company at this time! You'll probably have to wait until tomorrow but I'll see what I can do!
"Alright thanks, I guess." Theo said.
"Bye!"
"Bye." Theo ended the call with a stressed look on his face. It's not that he didn't want to be with you, it's the fact that he feels bad that you had to be dragged into this situation.
"Calm down Theo, we'll figure something out! But now while you seem stressed we should distract ourselves alright? Now come here, I can tell you need a good hug right now." You said in a soft tone while you opened your arms for Theo and he gladly wrapped his arms around your body in hopes to relax and feel some warmth. You really loved being hugged by him.
Some time passed and you guys finally let go of the hug while making eye contact with each other, but you broke it off for being too shy to look at him for any longer.
"Uhm.. How about we talk about our first times doing things! Like your first time riding a bike and stuff like that!" Theo said as he still had his hands rubbing up and down on your arms.
"Sure! That sounds fun. Who's going first?" You asked as you both took a sit on the now clean ground.
"I can start and ask you something if you don't mind!" Theo said gently.
"Of course! Go ahead!" You answered while showing a small smile to Theo.
"Okay then, your first time having a partner, like romantically. How was it?" He asked with a teasing smile on his cute face.
"Oh my god! Well it was in middle school I think! The most we ever did was hold hands and then he broke up with me because my hands were too sweaty!"
"Really?!? Oh wow!" He said as he started laughing at your story.
"Yeah, oh well. It's my turn now! Let me think... How about your first kiss?" You asked innocently, waiting for his answer.
"Oh uhm this is embarassing actually, but I've never kissed anyone before." Theo said as he scratched his neck and laughed awkwardly.
"Oh it's okay Taeyang! You don't need to have had your first kiss at a certain age! If you didn't find the one yet, then just wait! It's better to wait to have it with the right person than to just have it to get it over with, you know?" You said reassuringly as you grabbed his hand and rubbed soft circles on it.
"Yeah I guess, but I think I already found someone." He said still not looking in your eyes.
Even though you were his best friend, you had strong feelings for him and the fact that he said this kind of hurt your feelings, but you couldn't just ruin what you had with him. You'd much rather have him as your best friend than not having him close to you at all.
"Oh, that's great Theo! You should tell them!" You said with a heavy heart.
"Well, I think I already made it obvious to who I like, but I don't know if they got the memo." He said as he finally looked at you blushing.
"Do you think the person likes you back?"
"I mean, everytime I display affection, they blush and they always hug me longer, but they might just not want to appear cold, so they reciprocate the affection."
"Maybe you should tell them clearly that you like them!" You said while looking down at your feet.
"But the thing is I'm awful with words!" Theo said while running one of his hands through his pink hair (I know his hair is not pink right now, but I pictured Theo from the image above for this imagine).
"Then maybe a certain gesture, like gift them something, like a letter or whatever." You said hoping he'd let this topic go.
"You're right! I can do a gesture, but maybe I could do something that would show my love to the person through affection... I COULD KISS THEM! Oh wait but I don't know how to do that... YOU COULD TEACH ME!"
"CHOI TAEYANG ARE YOU OFFICIALLY OUT OF YOUR DAMN MIND?" You yelled as you were shocked he would ask you such a thing.
I mean, sure, you always wanted to kiss Theo, but not just as a one time thing... You wanted him to be yours only.
"C'mon! I trust you with my life and I promise you that things won't stay awkward afterwards! Please! For me!" Theo said as he kneeled in front of you with both of his hands clasped together as he gave you puppy eyes.
You weren't going to accept, but then you thought this might be your only chance to kiss him, and as selfish as it sounds you wanted him just for yourself and for a moment you could have that.
"Fine, but just this once!"
"THANK YOU! YOU'RE THE BEST! I LOVE YOU!!" Theo said as he hugged you so hard you both fell down.
"Y-you're welcome." You said shyly, because of the proximity between you two.
"Can we stand up for this? I think I'm tired of sitting down!" Theo said as he stood up and straightened his back.
"Sure, it's fine! Wow! I never thought I'd be in this position with you!" You said as you both giggled softly.
"Well, but you are! Better make the most of it!" If only he knew.
"Okay now, for this you should be holding the person you're going to kiss in a way that's comfortable with them."
"Okay, since I'm kissing you, what do you prefer?"
"Well you can put your hands around my waist if that's okay with you!" And as you said this, his hands were around your waist and he was smiling sweetly in your direction.
"Right, what's next!" He asked enthusiastically.
"Well now you need to get closer and just do it. You need to move your lips against your partner's in a way that you enjoy, this doesn't have some sort of formula or something, you just have to go with the flow. And you might wanna picture that I'm the person you like so it's more enjoyable for you!"
He got closer to you as your lips were barely touching as he said "I don't need to imagine anything, when you're standing right in front of me. You're all that I want."
You barely had time to process what he said because he looked in your eyes and closed the gap between your lips softly and you felt as if you were on cloud 9.
You guys were lost in each other's lips. For someone who never kissed someone in his life, Theo was amazing. Your lips fit against each other's perfectly.
He moved his lips against yours in a very slow motion, almost as if he was calculating what his next move would be. You mentally gasped when he took one of his hands that was on your waist and put it in your hair as he deepened the kiss. You didn't feel fireworks like they all mentions in the movies and books, but instead you felt warmth, you felt loved, you felt high on his lips, and you never felt this way with anyone ever.
You and Taeyang kept making out. It seemed like you just couldn't get enough of each other. As if the moment you let go, the world would end. But much to your dismay, Theo pulled away from the kiss to breathe and you couldn't get enough of the sight in front of you. Your favourite boy was standing in front of you with his hair disheveled, lips slightly red and a boyish smile on his face.
"Are you sure you never kissed before? Because my god!" You said as he giggled and pecked your cheek softly, a gesture that made you blush.
"And also, what you said before you kissed me... Did you mean it? Do you like me?" You asked as your voice only got smaller. But by the look on Taeyang's face he still heard you.
"I do mean it, I always did! And I should have confessed first and then I should have courted you and only then kissed you. But I just saw an opportubity and took it. But I truly had never kissed anyone before, you were my first!!" Theo said as he smiled at you.
You didn't have words to answer so you just put your arms around his neck and kissed him as passionately as you could. Theo reciprocated the kiss and this time he went all out and even dared to lick your bottom lip, a gesture that surprised you to say the least but you granted him entrance anyway. Your tongues moved in sync as you held on tighter if that was even possible.
You didn't realise how long you guys were making out until you heard the door open.
"Guys we made I-OH MY GOD MY VIRGIN EYES!" Intak yelled as he appeared shocked by the scene before his eyes.
You guys quickly pulled away and soon the members entered the practice room and they rapidly caught on what happened as your guys' lips were slightly swollen and your hair was a mess.
"Theo! I didn't know you had that in you man!" Jiung said as he put his arm around Taeyang's shoulder. "And Y/n, I'm glad you like our Theo back! He never shuts up about you! It's always Y/n this, Y/n tha-"
"Alright! They get it Jiung! Now let's go to the dorm, me and Y/n are tired" Theo said as he interwined your fingers.
"I wonder why you're tir-OW! WHAT DID YOU HIT ME FOR?" Keeho yelped as Theo smacked the back of his head.
You all went out to the dorm and while in the van you and Theo couldn't help but share small kisses to express how happy you were. Not only you got to kiss Theo as he is now your lovely boyfriend!

“Irresistible. I just love it when you look at me like that.”
This went on for a lot longer than I originally planned. But it's fine.

Fear. That’s all your mind screamed as you limped down the narrow alleyway. You could no longer feel your right foot, the scorned appendage now dead weight as you pressed onwards.
Your quirk was no match for his, and you went in over your head. Now, you were paying the price for your overconfidence. The world spun around you as you pressed your aching palms against the wall. Your one good leg gave out, leaving you to slide down the bricks and onto the cold concrete.
With heaving breaths, you looked towards your burned foot. You tore your gaze away, gagging. You could smell the burning flesh, watching as the skin bubbled and popped even after the initial flames lapped away at your ankle.
You grit your teeth, putting your hands out to crawl forwards. You weren’t safe here. You needed backup. He would find you. Your wounds bled steadily, leaving a noticeable trail for him to follow.
“I know you’re down here!” he drawled, sending a chill through your body. You bit your lip to stop from crying. Was this the end for you?
You could hear his footsteps as he ambled behind you. “I’m getting warmer!”
You crawled faster, forcing yourself onwards.
The steps stopped, and you knew you’d been spotted.
“I appreciate your grit, hero, but you’re not leaving this alleyway.”
You hesitantly looked behind you, seeing only his fiery blue silhouette. You gulped. “I’ve already called for back-up!” you coughed out.
His laugh echoed down the alley. You could make out a rectangular device pulled from his pocket. “Liar!”
You ground your fist into the ground. “Shit.”
The steps began again, and you summoned all the strength you had left to stand, leaning against the wall as you limped forwards.
Within moments, a hand wrapped around your neck, forcing you against the wall. Your eyes met blazing blue, and you began to cry softly.
“No. No. I can’t die like this.”
Your tears evaporated as his free hand began to dance with flames. “You’re kinda pretty in the light, hero. I almost feel bad killing ya.”
Gritting your teeth, you grabbed the wrist of the arm holding your neck, squeezing it tightly. “No. I refuse to die like this.” Your adrenaline quickly turned your sadness into anger.
With a burst of strength you didn’t know you possessed, you ripped his hand from your neck, pulling it behind him as you pushed him to the ground, digging your knee into his back. You bent his arm at an angle that would break it if you pushed any harder. “Surrender, Dabi.”
He chuckled. “I’m flattered you’ve heard of me.”
He easily threw you off, standing up and tackling you to the floor. Your torso was trapped between his knees, and your hands were pinned to the ground.
You struggled angrily.
He moved your hands above your head, pinning them there with one hand as his other gripped your chin. “Quit struggling. I’d like to get a clear view of the fear in your eyes.”
You refused to show him such luxury, brows curling as you spat on him. “You’re nothing but a coward who likes to feel in control.”
He quirked a brow, caressing your cheek. “And you’re nothing but a weak little hero who tried to save the day.”
The urge to use your quirk burned inside of you, but you knew you’d black out in a second if you tried. Your vision was fading already.
You spat out one last retort before succumbing to sleep. “You’ll never win, Dabi. The heroes will always. . . defeat you.”
When you awoke, you expected to be greeted with shiny gates and a bearded messiah. Sadly, this was not the case.
The ropes which held your arms to the back of the chair dug into your wrists, and the metal chair made your spine ache. You were in a dimly lit room, and as you awoke fully you noticed it was a run-down hotel lobby. Weird place for a villain hideout. You supposed they had to move after their first place was discovered.
“When you said you caught a pro-hero, Dabi, I expected All Might. Who is this?” the grey-haired man known as Shigaraki growled, his finger pointing at you.
Dabi, who leaned against the wall coolly, shrugged. “I’m sure she’d be more than willing to introduce herself.”
You noticed the girl with space buns smile eerily. “I think she’s cute! It’s a shame I can’t cut her yet! We could be such good friends!”
Shigaraki stepped toward you. “Speak or die.”
Your eye twitched. “I’m pro-hero (hero name).”
He shook his head. “Your real name.”
“We’re not friends. You don’t need to know.”
His hand suddenly hovered inches from your face. “Answer me, hero.”
“(Y/N). It’s (Y/N) (Y/L/N).”
“Dabi, she’s of no use to us. Kill her.” He stepped away from you dismissively.
“Don’t be a moron, Shigaraki,” Dabi retorted. “Imagine the bargaining power. Heroes always save their own no matter the cost.”
“Fine, but she’s your responsibility. Do what you want with her.”
With that, you were promptly knocked out again.
You didn’t awake again until a few days later, and immediately noticed you were free of restraints. You laid upon a hotel bed, your foot wrapped up messily in gauze.
You sat up, noticing nobody in the room.
You acted instantly, rushing towards the door with newfound vigor. You were met with Dabi, his hands already producing his blue flames.
“Don’t do something rash, (Y/N). You’re not getting out of here in one piece.”
“What are your plans with me,” you demanded, still in a fighting position.
“Shigaraki wants you dead, but I wanna keep you around. The league gets boring, and I want something to keep me busy. Simple as that,” he answered plainly.
“I’m not your plaything, nor do I plan to go down without a fight.”
“Oh, you will,” he replied, pulling a photo from his pocket. You recognized it instantly. Your family. “Unless you want to take your whole family down with you.”
You shuddered. “You’re sick.”
“I’m a villain, doll. What’d you expect?”
“Don’t call me doll, Dabi.”
He wiggled the photograph in front of you. “You might wanna rephrase that.”
With much force, you limped back towards the bed, sitting down. You clenched your fists. Why did you tell them your real name so easily? Idiot. Escape now seemed impossible.
“D’aww, don’t look so down, doll. I promise I’m not that bad once you get to know me!”
He sat down next to you. You cringed away.
This was the beginning of your life as a prisoner.
Weeks passed until you even spoke to Dabi again, though he was the only one entering and exiting your room. He’d bring you food and water, even providing you with soaps to use in the shower. You didn’t know what his plan was surrounding you, but you refused to simply go limp and give up.
“Dabi,” you spoke one day, causing the aforementioned man to look up from his seat on the chair. He had been on his phone, as he usually did whenever he’d sit there for hours on end.
He smirked as he met your eye. “Yes, doll?”
“Where are we right now?”
He rolled his eyes. “You don’t think I’d actually tell you that, right?”
“Fine. What are you looking at on your phone?”
Maybe if you managed to gain his trust he’d at least tell you something of use. First you had to loosen him up a bit. Throw him off his guard.
“Stuff.”
“What stuff.”
“None of your business, doll.”
You sighed. “I’ve been in here for weeks with nothing to do and nobody besides you to talk to. Throw me a bone here.”
He returned his phone to his pocket. “Okay. The floor is yours.”
“Can I at least have a TV or something? This being kidnapped thing is kinda boring. Especially since I’m not actively being threatened, killed, or tortured.”
He shot you a wink. “Don’t threaten me with a good time.”
You sighed. “Can you at least tell me what I’m still doing here? It’s been weeks.”
He stood from his chair, making his way to lean against the bedpost. “You’re getting real comfortable, making small talk with a villain, doll. That might come back to bite you.”
You paused. No. You weren’t comfortable at all. You were bored. And you had to gain his trust. You had a plan. You were just doing what you had to in order to get out.
Shaking the doubts away, you spoke. “Seems like you’re getting too comfortable talking with a hero.”
He smirked. “You’re still calling yourself that? Cute. But what exactly have you done lately that’s so heroic?”
You balled your hands into fists. “The only reason I’m still here is to keep my family safe. I’m protecting them. That’s what heroes do. Save people.”
“Bullshit.”
His words shocked you.
“You’re a coward. A selfish little girl who thinks she can play with the big dogs. You’re not a hero. Not anymore.”
You resisted the urge to lash out. “Shut up, Dabi.”
“You think I’m such a bad guy, doll, but in reality you and I are closer than you think.” He grabbed your chin roughly, leaning down to stare you in the eyes.
“I know you’re just barely holding it together. You’re cracking. You’re falling apart. You’re nothing. You’re not a hero. You’re pathetic. And you know it.”
You blinked away the tears forming in your eyes. “Stop. Just stop talking.”
He pushed you down, your back hitting the bed as he climbed on top of you. His hands grasped yours, pushing them against the sheets. “C’mon, doll. Being a villain ain’t so bad. Why don’t you just give in, huh? You know you were never cut out to be a hero.”
You gasped for words. “I— that’s not— I’m not a villain!”
“Not yet.”
You tried to hold it in, but tears began to flow down your face, damping the sheets.
Looking into your eyes, Dabi smiled, his eyes flaming with pleasure. “There it is. I can see it in your eyes. You’re broken now.”
You could only stare back at him, unmoving. No words fell from your mouth. He felt your body go limp. You’d stopped struggling.
He moved to grab your wrists with one hand, the other gripping your chin as he roughly pulled your head up. You hated the satisfaction on his face. You tried to look away, but his hand held you still. “Irresistible. I just love it when you look at me like that. Like you’re numb. Oh how you’ve fallen, doll.”
He leaned down, placing a chaste kiss to your lips. “But don’t worry. I’m here. I’ll piece you back together. And you’ll learn who you belong to.”

You arrive at the front door a little too breathlessly in your haste. It should be embarrassing but blaming your increased pulse on your lack of fitness has your mind and, ironically, your heart resting easier than having to think that you're actually half-nervous and half-excited to see Jimin again.
Even though you literally saw him just yesterday.
You really need to pull yourself together better; you'd rather not have a repeat of pouring tomato sauce all over the counter because your hands got too shaky from Jimin watching you cook dinner (and after you insisted on him not needing to do anything too!)
You take in a fortifying breath, appearing to be squaring up to take the final stand in saving the world instead of simply seeing your boyfriend for what's essentially a stay-in dinner date. You punch in the pass code to the lock pad with practised ease, almost not giving enough time for the beep to chime as you push the door open.
“Jimin?” You call out in greeting once you toe off your shoes and slip on your pair of house slippers. Your eyes scan over the vast living room, spotting the head of raven locks peeking out from the end of the couch. Stepping closer, a smile sneaks its way onto your lips when you realize that he's most likely resting, given his lack of response. Quietly, you step into the kitchen area to set down your bags of grocery on the counter before you make your way to peer over the back of the seat. You're instantly smitten at what you see.
The sun is beginning to make its descent below the horizon, dying the clouds in an ombre of fiery oranges, pinks and reds against the remnants of soft pale blue sky. Thanks to the generous amount of window space the penthouse has, the golden glow easily washes over the interior of the living room and bathes everything with its light; Jimin being no exception.
It cascades over his skin like honey, high-lighting the bridge of his nose, the tops of his cheeks, and the shape of his cupid's bow. It makes his long lashes stand out so delicately and the equally dark strands of hair that falls gently over his forehead. Your fingers itch to sweep them away yet at the same time, you don't dare risk disturbing this sleeping beauty.
So unconsciously, you silently settle yourself on the top of the couch, resting your elbows on the cushion with your head propped up in your hand.
He looks so completely relaxed, one arm tucked behind his head, the other draped over his stomach. The sleeves of his shirt rolled up to his elbow, forearms toned and the first few buttons undone to expose a teasing view of his collarbones while black slacks hug his thighs perfectly (as per usual). If someone were to take a picture of him right now and slap on some big fashion name on it, you're pretty sure anyone who would see it would believe it to be a legit advertisement or a cover of a magazine.
Now that the thought has crossed your mind, temptation begins to rear its head. From the beginning, it's a no brainer what you imagine one would do given the opportunity of having a guardian demon that looks like the carbon copy of your favourite idol; do whatever you can to prevent said demon from stepping out into the world and risk slandering the actual person they're parading around as, or indulge in your wildest fantasies now that you have the means.
It's....a rather unique position to be in, with a plethora of mixed feelings to say the least.
After the initial shock of it wore off (which was really just taking three business day to process it all), you've come to the conclusion that this whole thing was, more than anything, weird. Some people might be able to turn a blind eye and though you're grateful that he had decided to look like Park Jimin from BTS, no matter how good of a disguise it was, it still doesn't change the fact that it's not Jimin.
You were grateful, but it made you a little resentful towards him.
With such a stark contrast, it's as if all of the good things you associated with that face had been sullied for something colder and unfeeling. You hated that he had chosen to use someone like Park Jimin – the perfect example of a good human being – to mask his much more sinister nature. You were sure it was part of some sick joke, and it felt...wrong.
Like you've lost part of a safe space in your world to the uglier side of the universe.
So in an attempt to preserve Jimin's good name in your heart, you were adamant in keeping your guardian demon at arms' length, hence why doing something as simple as taking a picture with him was out of the question. Not only would it not be in good faith, you can't begin to imagine what would happen if it got out to the world somehow.
And you succeeded....in the most unexpected way possible.
Maybe it was the deep rooted connection you had for Jimin, but there was always, without a doubt, a part of you that was soft to him. At first it had irked you, however over time, you realized it allowed for you to see another part of him that you wouldn't have otherwise. It made you open up to the idea that....he's not as bad as he seems.
You were afraid of losing a piece to your safe space when really, you ended up gaining an entirely new one instead, one that had become just as important.
So maybe that's why, as the longer you stared at Jimin (who's not Jimin but that doesn't mean he's worth anything less), the more you wanted to preserve this memory of him to keep for yourself. It's selfish you know, but things have changed, you've changed, and this is too good of a chance to pass up.
Your phone is out, hands steady as you pull up the camera and you want to laugh at how the image on your screen does no justice in capturing just how ethereal the sight before you is (of course it doesn't, should you really be surprised?) That doesn't stop your finger from tapping the snap button, because as they say, taking a picture lasts longer. The shot is satisfactory enough, getting him at an angle that show him from the waist up. You wonder if you can get another one, this time a little wider....
Well, you'll never know if you'd ever get the shot because your guardian demon chooses to wake up at that moment, locking piercing eyes with you through the phone. You immediately freeze.
There's a pause on his end before you see him pinpoint exactly what is going and a sly smirk tugs imperceptibly at the corner of his lips. “Cherub....” He greets, the low drawl sultry and irises pools of rich melted chocolate.
You gulp, straightening up while trying to inconspicuously put away your phone, a sheepish grin stretching across your face. “Rest well....?”
Jimin pretends to hum in deep thought, shifting so that he's facing more comfortably towards you. “For a good while yes....until my demon senses started tingling, telling me I was being watched. Should I be mildly concerned that you like watching me sleep?”
You scoff, “I don't always watch you sleep.”
“And you totally weren't snapping stalker photos of me.”
Your jaw drops, affronted but you don't go on to deny the claim. “Hey, calling them stalker photos is a stretch. And I'm just saying this because this was the only time I've ever – oof!”
Without warning, his hand had shot out to grab a hold of one of your wrist hanging over the back and with a strong tug, you fall face first onto his chest, an arm encircling you to keep you in place.
“Whatever you wanna call it, doesn't change that I'm still going to charge you for them.” You hear him playfully chastise above you. When you tilt your head up, you see him quirk an eyebrow at you expectantly. You blink, then roll your eyes, pretending to be inconvenienced by his stinginess, as if you're not ready to give him everything if he so much as breathes a word of it.
“Alright, what do you want?”
Jimin doesn't say anything in response, simply staring at you with those bottomless eyes, a smoulder simmering beneath their surface that it has you drowning in their depths. He watches you, unperturbed by your squirming (actually amuses in it) before you practically hear him purr, “What do you think I want?”
Your heart easily skips a beat (or more) and you're sure he can feel it beating frantically from your chest to his. While you're internally combusting, Jimin remains the picture definition of smug, free arm still propped behind his head the same time the other is wrapped around your waist, your face heating at the way you feel his thumb stroke at the strip of warm skin peeking out thanks to your shirt riding up a bit in the tumble.
He's actually infuriating, you think. Why's he gotta be so damn good at what he does?! You don't think he's even trying. Ugh, get it together, this is nothing new so it's not even a big deal! You can be cool about it too!
Giving yourself a chaotic pep talk apparently is what helps you find the courage to scooch up until you're able to land a chaste peck on the centre of his lips. Before you can fully withdraw, you already see the unimpressed look Jimin is shooting your way.
“I know you can do better than that.”
You puff, chewing on your lower lip into a pout; the deadpan in his voice makes you grumble at being called out, your neck and the tips of your ears burning now. Seeing you so flustered though, Jimin couldn't help but be endeared, then finally decide to ease up on the teasing he's been relentlessly subjecting you to. Slowly, he lowers the arm behind his head to gently take a hold on your chin, bringing your attention back to the adoring smile softening his features.
“Pretty cherub,” He coaxes, “Won't you give a little sweet treat for me?”
It takes everything in you to suppress the small whimper that wanted to jump out from the base of your throat at hearing those words. Whether it's teasing, cocky Jimin or loving, doting Jimin, you really aren't built to handle any of them at all, seemingly defaulting to a blushing mess no matter how hard you try be unfazed. Which is why after a moment of resigning to your fate, accepting that there was no point resisting when your heart and body have already betrayed you, do you close your eyes and give in wholeheartedly.
He welcomes you, carefully lets you mould your lips to his for a proper kiss and you helplessly melt against him. You don't think you can ever get used to the feeling but it's like Jimin doesn't mind one bit, pace unhurried to savour every press like it’s your first. Your mind becomes muddled the longer it goes on, and when you feel the swipe of his tongue, you're nearly gone. But as tempting as it is, you can't get too carried away here – you still have dinner to cook!
You allow yourself a few tantalizing licks before you part with great reluctance. Through hazy eyes you meet Jimin's, the little breath you have hitching from the sight of his swollen, moistened lips and dark brown irises now glowing a muted maroon, on the verge of igniting into full blown desire.
“Can't have you spoiling dinner so early.” You say, then embarrassingly avert your gaze at how your voice comes out raspy and thick.
You miss the way the corner of Jimin's mouth twitch, but catch the mischievous glint that's no doubt from mentioning the word 'dinner'. You put on your best scolding face, smacking his chest lightly in reprimand.
“No.”
“I didn't even say anything.” His incredulous retort is drowned out by the laugh he lets out with it, the sound has you struggling to maintain your 'serious' front.
“You were thinking it.”
“Are you sure it's not you projecting your own thoughts onto me?”
You humphed, about to turn away and get off your personal body pillow but Jimin's hold remains steadfast. He sneaks a quick kiss to your forehead once you settle back down again as a means to placate you, chuckling softly, “Okay, okay, I'll behave.”
You giggle lightly, cheeks pressed into his collarbone as you give an approving hum, cuddling even closer to his person and you both lapse into a comfortable silence, breaths in sync. Outside, the final rays of the setting sun disappears below the city's horizon, taking the warmth of the day along with it.
But you find no lack in that when you're lying here in his embrace, because whereas the sun comes and goes, yours remains unwavering.

Summary: Alex’s dad sold his childhood home without telling him, so Michael decides to do something about it.

Michael watched as Alex’s head fell back, his jaw dropping as he caught his breath.
He swallowed hard, his eyes scanning over Alex’s body where it was perched on top of his in a way that felt like a renaissance painting. He was stunning. And Michael really, really didn’t know what to do about that realization. Or, he didn’t know what to do about the constant revelations he was having when it came to Alex.
Michael was straight and frustrated when this whole thing began. A weird string of events, mostly him whining and Alex being Alex, led to him getting a handjob from Alex on the couch in the apartment he shared with Max. There was no kissing or any kind of romantic shit afterward or during or before. Alex just politely went and washed his hands with a ‘will you be able to focus now?’ and they got back to their work. Michael was absolutely not able to focus.
The first time he was able to convince himself that it was just a thing between bros. No feelings, nothing weird, it was just clinical and casual. But Michael couldn’t sleep and he couldn’t stop having an entire crisis over it.
And yet, the next time he was alone with Alex in the apartment, he found himself with his hand between Alex’s thighs.
It kept happening and escalating. They didn’t talk about it or make rules or establish boundaries‒which was an admittedly bad thing‒but they seemed to both understand that they didn’t kiss, they didn’t do anything that could be perceived as romantic, and they didn’t acknowledge it. It did leave Michael to have his bisexual awakening through a series of borderline panic attacks followed by getting Alex to do whatever to clear his mind. He didn’t know if Alex knew exactly what he was clearing, but it didn’t matter.
Michael was 99.9% sure he wasn’t straight now and 87% sure he wasn’t just gay. Sometimes Alex would do something like stick his fingers inside him and order him to continue reciting his presentation without mistakes and he would consider the idea that maybe he actually was gay and the reason it didn’t feel like this with every girl he’d been with was because he was gay. But then he remembered that it didn’t feel like this with every girl he’d been with because he usually barely knew them.
He knew Alex.
He liked Alex.
It was just… a little confusing on what kind of like. Alex was his best friend and he didn’t want to screw that up. He was sure that if they just kept it like this, then they wouldn’t change anything and they could continue to just be best friends. But then he would find himself staring at Alex when there were other people around and it would make him question if things were actually still normal at all.
“Fuck, you’re getting better at that,” Alex said, pulling off of Michael with an objectively disgusting and yet still horribly enticing sound.
“Honestly, I feel like you did all the work,” Michael said. Alex huffed a laugh and cautiously got off the bed. Standing up, Alex looked even more like a work of art.
“Yeah, but the first few times I still did all the work and you were still lacking.”
“Hey!”
“Just being honest.”
Michael licked his lips and watched as Alex walked into the bathroom, leaving the door open as he found a rag with practiced ease. His back was muscular and still a bit flexed and Michael’s eyes followed it all the way down to his ass that was, admittedly, quite a mess and still just. There. For Michael to see. And to think he thought he was straight for so long.
They didn’t talk about things like that. Michael knew that was objectively bad, but it felt good. He liked Alex just taking over and doing what he wanted to him. It was just. A little confusing. Because they weren’t dating and this was something that very clearly had a time limit. Things would have to change eventually, just he didn’t know in what direction he wanted them to change in. Or what he was allowed to have them change in.
So he kept his eyes on Alex and watched as he cleaned himself off. When he looked over his shoulder, he caught Michael’s eye and grinned.
“I’m beginning to think you’ve got a staring problem,” Alex said, but then he had the audacity to stretch up. He brought himself to his toes and reached for the ceiling and let out a little moan as his shoulder popped. Michael’s head felt empty.
Alex washed the rag out and then came back to the bed, tossing it onto his stomach before he went to go find his clothes. Michael seemingly had to reboot his brain and couldn’t get himself to clean up until after Alex put his briefs back on.
Yes, things were weird and he didn’t quite understand how he got to this point, but he didn’t really want it to stop either. He wanted Alex to keep doing shit like this and smiling at him and maybe even kissing him if, you know, he felt like it. Michael would be lying if he didn’t think about kissing him more than he thought about sleeping with him.
“Okay, I hate to fuck and kick you out, but I’ve got plans,” Alex said once Michael was done and slowly trying to find his own clothes. That was enough to get Michael’s full attention.
“Plans? It’s already nighttime,” Michael pointed out. Alex just gave that little grin of his and shook his head.
“Sweet little innocent Michael.”
“I don’t think any of the shit we do qualifies as innocent,” Michael shot back. Alex smiled wider.
Michael wasn’t jealous. He didn’t even know what Alex was doing, how could he be jealous of something he didn’t even know anything about? He wasn’t. He just very much did not enjoy the idea of Alex going out with someone else after the sun had gone down. Not for any selfish reason, but for the fact that nothing good happened after the sun went down and he told Alex as much.
“What are you, my grandma?” Alex laughed. He double-checked that Michael had his jeans and boxers on before opening the door which was the real sign that this was actually over for the night.
Ianto, Alex’s kitten‒that technically wasn’t a kitten anymore but Michael would never stop calling him that‒strolled in like she owned the place. Michael grinned as he immediately came to rub against his leg. He didn’t have to look up to know Alex was rolling his eyes.
“Hi, baby,” Michael cooed, reaching down to scratch his head, “Your dad is kicking me out to do secret things.”
“Shut up,” Alex laughed, “I’m not kicking you out. If you wanna stay, you can, but I won’t be here.”
“What are you doing that’s so late, though?” Michael asked, looking up to him. Alex sighed as he pulled his shirt over his head.
“I’m just meeting someone,” Alex said. Something twisted in Michael’s gut as he stared at him. Someone.
“Like… a date?” Michael asked. Alex took a deep breath and Michael knew that it was true. He was seeing someone.
Which. Was fine. Michael just thought he had more time. More time to understand what the fuck he was feeling, more time to get good at it, more time for whatever. That was. Okay.
“I mean… Not quite. Just, you know, someone,” Alex said, shrugging and looking away.
The way he spoke about it was almost worse than if he just said that he was trying to date people. Before they started this whole thing, Alex had always been honest about who he was seeing. Michael had a ton of memories and texts of Alex telling him about guys he’d been with. They were friends. But things had changed.
“Okay,” Michael said, standing up and quickly putting on his shirt and grabbing his phone, “Then I’ll leave.”
“Well, don’t be mad,” Alex said. Michael closed his eyes for a moment and then set back into motion to look for his shoes.
“I’m not mad. I just don’t wanna hold you up,” Michael said. Since I clearly couldn’t satisfy you, he didn’t say.
He tried not to let his ego be too bruised. It happened. Alex was the first and only guy Michael had been with. Of course he would want someone more experienced.
“Michael,” Alex said, grabbing his arm. His eyebrows were furrowed and he looked a bit lost. “Do you wanna talk about this or something?”
“No,” Michael said simply. They didn’t talk about this. Talking about it now would make it weird.
He pulled out of Alex’s grasp and put his shoes on, giving Ianto a couple more pets before he headed for the door. Alex didn’t try to stop him and that was telling enough. Tomorrow, maybe, Michael would text him or talk to him and they’d go on as normal. It made him feel a little weird, though, thinking about Alex sleeping with other people and not telling him about it. Wasn’t that, like, a rule of casual relationships? You let people know? Was he getting tested?
It didn’t matter. They were friends. This was fine.

Michael waited a whole three days without texting Alex first.
He couldn’t say why exactly he was choosing to be pouty and just choosing to let Alex be the one to reach out, but he was and he wasn’t really having much of an internal fight about whether he should reach out or not. He was going to let Alex do that, even if he missed him, because he didn’t want to seem clingy. Well, that and he was a little bit irritated, but he could focus on the not wanting to be clingy thing and feel better about himself afterward.
It was probably normal to get weirdly attached to the first guy you sleep with whether there were romantic feelings or not. He didn’t want to be attached to Alex, at least not like that. He wanted to be friends with him. Friends who slept together sometimes.
Michael just wasn’t sure if he could keep that up much longer.
And yet, when it hit the three day mark, he was tossing and turning and bed and craving Alex in some capacity. They didn’t even have to hook up, he just needed his friend. They could watch movies or do homework or literally anything and they didn’t have to talk. They had never gone this long without at least a meme or two sent between them. Weirdness from the other day aside, this was particularly annoying.
Michael pulled out his phone and let his thumb hover over Alex’s contact. He just had to hit it and ask if Alex wanted to come over. He could do that. Easy. Just hit it.
“What are you doing?” Max asked, breaking Michael’s mental discussion. For the first time, he was a little bit thankful that Max had basically no boundaries when it came to Michael’s personal life. At least it provided a distraction.
“Thinking about inviting Alex over, if that’s okay,” Michael said, tossing his phone onto the couch as he stood up. He needed a break from looking at it anyway. Max nodded his head, looking through the contents of the refrigerator.
“Sure, if he wants to after everything,” Max said. Michael’s eyebrows tugged together.
“What do you mean, after everything?” he wondered, standing up a little bit straighter. Instantly, his brain started filling with thoughts of what could’ve happened, all of which were probably over the top and wrong because if it was something dire like Alex getting hurt, there was no way Max would know before him.
It didn’t stop his mind from racing.
“He didn’t tell you?” Max asked. Michael shook his head and Max shrugged, taking his sweet damn time. “Oh, well, Liz said that his dad apparently sold the house he grew up in back in Roswell without telling him. Got rid of all of his and his brother’s shit without telling them and it’s apparently sold. I don’t know, if I were him, I’d be upset.”
Michael started at the back of his head, momentarily unmoving. His first thought was if he threw out Alex’s mom’s things too or if he kept it. He thought about the closet door that had his height marked alongside his brothers that the four of them secretly kept up after their mom left. He thought about the things Alex always said he was going to go back and get whenever he got his own place in the future, the quiet little admissions Alex only made whenever he was either drunk or one of them did something particularly mindblowing in bed that left them both a little hazy afterward.
Without replying to Max, Michael grabbed his phone and went to go find his shoes. Finally, without hesitation, he called Alex and held the phone to his ear as he fumbled to slide on his shoes. It rang and rang and rang and Michael was pretty sure he wasn’t going to answer, but he still grabbed his keys and went out the door.
Right before it went to voicemail, Alex answered.
“Hello?” he said. His voice was a little flat but otherwise didn’t give anything away about how he was feeling.
“Hey, how are you?” Michael wondered, stepping into his truck and pulling the door closed. He started it up and quickly put on his seatbelt.
“Fine,” Alex said. It didn’t count as an actual response because it was Alex and ‘fine’ didn’t actually mean anything. He’d said he was fine while having a panic attack in the library while trying to write an essay on some dumb book that touched on one too many heavy topics for the both of them.
“Okay, are you at your apartment? Is your roommate there?” Michael asked, backing up probably a little too fast but who cares. He didn’t hit anyone.
“I’m here, but Chris isn’t. Why?” Alex said, skepticism still lingering in his voice.
“I heard about your house,” Michael said. Alex stayed quiet. “Look, have the new people started moving in yet?”
“No,” Alex said softly, “Flint said they close tomorrow at two.”
“Okay. Next question, how do you feel about trespassing?”

Michael could feel Alex’s eyes on him as he moved about his kitchen, throwing shit together to make him something better than plain packaged ramen. He was blowing time, waiting for the sun to fall.
“We don’t actually have to,” Alex said. He was in a sweater and sweatpants and his hair was all tousled. Michael could only look at him for a few seconds at a time or he’d lose his mind over how cute he was. So, so not straight. “It’s over an hour away and illegal and we don’t have to.”
“If they haven’t sold it yet, I don’t think it’s illegal and I’m not going to google it because it’s much better if I just say it very convincingly,” Michael insisted, taking a spice bottle out of the cabinet that had the label removed and sniffing it. He coughed a few times, but it smelled like it was probably garlic powder so he threw it into the saucepan.
Ianto was rubbing against Michael’s legs, meowing away at the serious offense that he was taking due to Michael not giving him his full attention. He kept lifting his foot to stroke his back, but that was only so satisfying to a bratty little kitten.
When Michael looked at Alex, he looked like he was about to cry. His eyebrows were drawn together and his eyes were all glassy and he was all but pouting. Michael quickly moved the saucepan to another burner before turning around completely and reaching over the sink to get to Alex’s face since he was sitting at the counter. He held his face between both hands and looked him very seriously in the eye, something he’d do all the time when they were just friends before they made it weird between them.
“Hey, don’t cry, we’re going to see if there’s anything left,” Michael said, squishing his cheeks just a little bit. Alex huffed a laugh and pushed him off carefully.
“I’m not gonna cry and I’m sure as hell not gonna cry over that. My dad’s an asshole, but I should’ve expected him to do something like this,” Alex said. Michael pinched and prodded his cheeks for an extra second for emphasis until he got Alex to smile as he twisted out of his grasp. “Michael.”
“Stop looking so sad then,” Michael said, going back to cooking.
They haven’t mentioned the other day. Michael had no plans to be the one to bring it up.
“I’m fine,” Alex said, “I just hate him.”
“I’ll beat him up for you,” Michael offered before lifting the spoon to his lips. It tasted good enough.
Michael filled a bowl with slightly under-cooked noodles because Alex was fucking weird and spooned his makeshift sauce onto it. He stuck a fork into it and turned around to present it to Alex, giving him a smile. Alex was already giving him that look, the really sweet one he really only gave him out of nowhere and Michael had yet to really pinpoint what caused it.
Still, he liked being looked at like that.
“Thank you,” Alex said, accepting the plate, “You’re a good friend.”
Friend.
“No problem.”

Michael had only been to Alex’s childhood home twice and he had never been inside.
Both times were during their freshman year, while Alex was living in a dorm still and needed to go home every once in a while to get clothes or whatever. Michael had driven him and gotten to know him super well in those long car rides together and had also gotten very used to comfortable silences with him.
Now, Alex sat in the passenger seat and had his head against the window. His eyes were closed and he was so very clearly sad. Michael hated seeing him that way. He didn’t know how to fix it. Especially since this situation wasn’t something he could really fix.
“So,” Michael said, trying to lighten the mood, “How was your date?”
Alex was quiet for a moment before he huffed and tilted his head in Michael’s direction. Michael kept his eyes forward after that.
“Seriously?” Alex asked. Michael shrugged. “Now you wanna talk about it?”
“I’m not trying to have a formal talk, just making conversation. You used to tell me about your dates all the time,” Michael said. Before we started hooking up, he didn’t say.
Alex didn’t say anything for a small stretch of time before he eventually said, “It wasn’t a date, I was going to meet up with Kyle but I knew you’d freak out if we were speaking again, so I didn’t say anything.”
Michael felt a rush of emotions at that, blinking a few times as he processed it.
“As in… Valenti?”
“Yeah,” Alex confirmed. Michael couldn’t help the look of disgust that found his face. “Exactly why I didn’t tell you.”
“Nah, it’s fine, whatever, I’m not your boss,” Michael said, trying to seem like he didn’t care. There was no reason to care. Alex wasn’t his property.
“Right.”
“I was just asking.”
“And even if it was a date, it’s none of your business,” Alex said, though it had admittedly less of a bite than it sounded like he intended. 
“Absolutely not.”
“Just because we’re, like, hook‒”
“Do I turn left or right up here?” Michael asked, cutting him off. He didn’t want to talk about this. They didn’t talk about it. That would fuck everything up, that would force Michael to think too hard about something he probably already thought too hard about and he just simply wasn’t interested.
Alex took a deep breath and grumbled a ‘right’.
So Michael took a right.
He drove through the middle-class neighborhood, full of white people who had pools in their backyards and fences and an HOA that would probably make Michael cringe if he looked at the rules. Without much thought, he pulled into the little park that was in the middle of the neighborhood and parked his truck. Alex looked at him with a bit of skepticism.
“If I park in the driveway, it’s gonna be kinda obvious that someone is there,” Michael pointed out.
“Okay,” Alex agreed, stepping out of the truck.
The two of them walked side-by-side in the dark, only lit by streetlights. It was entirely possible there was some kind of neighborhood watch or maybe kids coming home from a date or people taking a late-night run, someone that would see them, but Michael didn’t see anything and decided to just act normal.
“It’s up here,” Alex said, voice soft. Whether that was because of the time of night or because of the fact he was seeing his house again, Michael wasn’t sure.
“Do you have a key still?”
“Yeah, but I don’t know if it’ll work.”
“Can’t hurt to try. Besides, if they haven’t officially closed on it yet, there’s probably a key under a mat somewhere or something,” Michael said. Alex nodded.
As they got closer, Alex didn’t say a single word. They went around back through the unlocked gate and he pulled out his keys, hands shaking a bit as he went to try it. Michael put his hand on the small of his back as a silent way to show his support.
The key fit in and turned with ease.
Alex let out a soft breath as he pushed the door open, blinking as he stared inside. Michael watched his face and waited for him to make the first move. This was for Alex. Michael very specifically chose not to think about why he was willing to go so far for Alex, possibly break the law.
Alex swallowed hard and took a step inside. Michael followed suit.
He stayed quiet as Alex navigated the empty house. There were no pictures or anything furniture left, just a dishwasher and an over and an empty space where a refrigerator was meant to go. Alex dragged his fingers over the countertop and slowly walked into the living area. That was even more empty, the space looking small without anything to fill it.
“The couch that was here had, like, three bloodstains from Clay because he had nosebleeds a lot,” Alex said, gesturing to the area it once was, “I think one of the stains might’ve been mine.”
“We can make new stains,” Michael offered. Alex physically cringed, his nose scrunching up, and laughed softly.
“You’re so fucking gross,” Alex said despite the sweetness of his tone.
“I meant innocent stains, like nosebleeds,” Michael insisted, raising his hands up. Alex rolled his eyes as a smile found his face, holding out his hand.
“Come on, let me show you upstairs.”
Michael accepted his hand and let him lead the way.
The stairs were simple and the hallway was small, jutting out in two different directions from the top of the staircase. It was all only lit by the moon and street lights shining through the window at the end of the hall. Alex tugged on his hand, pulling him to the left that led to two doors. He opened one without hesitation, tugging Michael inside.
The walls were painted an off-white color and the carpet was beige, perfectly standard. Nothing stood out except for the way Alex was holding his breath. Michael squeezed his hand and stepped closer.
“This was your room?” Michael asked. Alex swallowed and nodded, looking in Michael’s direction. Alex looked over his face before they locked eyes, taking a moment to just stare. He looked pretty like this. “Tell me what it looked like.”
“Okay, so,” Alex whispered, still not letting go of his hand as he took him to the far corner, “This is where my desk was. I wrote all my cringey poetry there. Had my first kiss while sitting there.”
“You did? That’s so cute,” Michael cooed, imagining a flustered, teenage Alex after getting his first kiss against his desk.
He knew Alex was actually upset when he didn’t shove him or tell him to shut up. Instead, he just pulled him to another space.
“My dresser was here. I hid shit in my folded pants to try to keep them from my dad,” Alex said, then tugged him a little further, “And my bed was here.”
“Did you do anything fun in that bed?” Michael teased. Alex didn’t bother laughing as he sat on the ground, laying down where his bed would’ve been. Michael laid beside him. “Are you okay?”
“I never wanted to come back here,” Alex whispered. Michael held his breath. “I hate my dad. I hate this place. But… he couldn’t even let me have even the shit I did want. Like, I have my mom’s guitar and, and stuff I use, but the dumb stuff.”
“I get it,” Michael said. And he did, kind of, one some level. Bouncing around and living in  group homes didn’t really present the best opportunity to accumulate dumb stuff, but he cherished the shit he did have.
Alex rolled onto his side and stared at him. Michael stared back. It was completely not the time for it, but Michael wanted to kiss him. Just once, really quick. Just to see what it felt like.
The room was silent as Alex reached across to him, touching his shoulder gently and gliding his fingertips across his neck. Michael watched him closely and waited to see what he was going to do. He didn’t move as Alex touched his jaw or his hair, didn’t flinch when he traced over his ear and his nose, didn’t breathe when he touched his lips.
“Thank you for coming here with me,” Alex whispered, “ I really appreciate it.”
“No problem. What are friends for?” Michael responded. Alex’s eyes flickered between meeting his gaze and going down to another part of his face, wasting a few seconds before he parted his lips to speak again.
“That’s what we are? Just friends?” Alex clarified, “Even after‒”
“When did you want to head back?” Michael asked, really not wanting to ruin the mood by thinking about things. About specifics. About himself.
But unlike every other time he deflected, Alex snatched his hand away from him like he’d been burned. He’d physically moved back a bit and hurt was openly displayed on his face in a way he wasn’t sure he’d ever seen. Micheal was a little speechless.
“Why do you always do that?” Alex asked quietly, “Why do you never want to talk about it? Are you that ashamed of what we do? If you are, I don’t think I can do this anymore. It doesn’t feel good.”
“What? No, Alex, I’m not ashamed,” Michael insisted. And he wasn’t. Overwhelmed was a much better word. “It-It’s just new and I don’t know how to really process what I’m feeling and I don’t want to push it.”
“That’s when you’re supposed to talk. Talking keeps people on the same page and makes things easier. So talk to me. Tell me what you want, tell me boundaries, tell me something. Fucking talk to me,” Alex snapped. Michael blinked, eyes wide as he looked at him.
And for the first time probably ever, his mind went blank.
Every thought and idea he’d ever had regarding Alex Manes went flying out of his mind. He couldn’t think of anything he wanted or any boundaries or literally anything. All he could do was stare. Even as Alex visibly got upset, even as Alex sat up and put his hands behind his head and effectively shielded Michael from seeing his face.
“I’m sorry,” Michael said, the only thing that could come to his mind, and debatably the wrong thing.
Alex gripped his hair in his hands tighter.
“You don’t have to like me like that. I don’t care either way. But you not telling me what you want is going to drive me insane. If you just want to be friends or if you just want to keep hooking up, that’s fine, but fucking talk to me!”
Michael opened his mouth to find something to say, literally anything, but instead, he heard a noise.
“What was that?” he whispered. Alex furrowed his eyebrows as he lifted his head. Another sound came, like a door opening.
“Oh, I can’t believe leaving it unlocked worked!” a voice said from downstairs, the emptiness of the house carrying it to their ears. Michael and Alex shared equally panicked looks.
“Well, it is our house,” the other voice said.
“Closet,” Alex hissed and they both quickly and quietly scrambled into the closet, closing the door behind them.
It was small and definitely not a walk-in, but they were able to press on opposite sides of the tiny space and not have to worry about touching. They both stayed as silent as possible, listening to the couple downstairs. Thank fuck he didn’t park his truck in the driveway.
But then the couple wasn’t downstairs, they were running upstairs and laughing and going to the other rooms across the hall. It would’ve been cute and charming if Michael wasn’t scared he was about to get caught and arrested for trespassing. But, considering they didn’t technically own it yet, didn’t they technically count as trespassing as well?
It was hard to really see Alex because of the dark, but, if he focused, he could sort of see his silhouette. He was probably still angry at Michael. Maybe he deserved it. Seriously, how ironic was it that they were stuck in a closet? Maybe they really should talk.
However, that only held his focus for so long when the door to Alex’s bedroom opened. Michael held his breath, listening and hoping they didn’t open the closet door.
“We’re gonna put the crib here,” the woman said as she stepped into Alex’s room, “And we’re going to paint the walls something more fun than this. Like, a purple, maybe.”
Michael kept his eyes locked on Alex’s body in the dark, trying to gauge the body language he couldn’t fucking see. He tentatively reached out, but he only felt air as if Alex had pressed himself so far into the opposite wall that he was trying to become a part of it.
“It’s gonna be perfect,” the man said, a rustle of clothing following his voice, “Our own house, our own little family.”
The woman laughed and the sound of kissing filled the room, loud and happy.
“New, happy memories. Especially once the baby comes,” she said, her voice warm and content. They kissed more, laughing and touching, and, god, this was too much of an invasion of privacy.
But all Michael could think of was Alex.
It probably wasn’t the best thing to be listening to how happy these strangers would be in the house that you found so miserable. A happy, young family, no less. Even Michael felt kind of cynical and jealous about it, though he often did when he saw loving parents.
Michael carefully pushed off the wall and took a silent step forward, hoping not to make any noise as the couple kissed and distracted themselves. He touched Alex’s waist and patted his way up to his face. Alex’s lips were folded in and his cheeks were wet, his breathing dangerously controlled. It was more than a little heartbreaking.
He took a step closer, wrapping his arms around Alex as quietly and slowly as possible so Alex could do something if he didn’t want him to touch him. He’d understand if he didn’t. But Alex didn’t push him away, instead letting his face fall into the crook of Michael’s neck. Michael put his hand on the back of his head and kept his arm around him, keeping him safe. Alex’s fingers clutched his shirt.
And, at that moment, he realized that he never wanted to stop doing that. He really, sincerely, wished to stay right there forever.
“Okay, okay, we should go finish packing,” the woman said and Michael really wished they would go. He weaved his fingers into Alex’s hair and held him a little tighter. 
“One more kiss,” the man said. They laughed and shared another kiss or two before they eventually left the room.
Michael held onto Alex and they stayed silent until they heard the footsteps go down the stairs and out the door. It echoed through the empty house as it closed. Only then did Alex give a small sniffle and took a heavy breath, clutching Michael tighter.
“I’ve got you,” Michael whispered, closing his eyes as he held him, “I’ve got you. I’m not going anywhere.”
They stayed there until Alex stopped crying, until he got his breathing under control, and Michael held him. He took the time to let his thoughts come to him, trying not to overthink anything and just let himself feel. What did he want? What kind of relationship with Alex did he want? What felt right?
And for once that answer came easy.

“I don’t want to be just friends.”
“Oh yeah? Took you that long to come to that conclusion?”
Michael rolled his eyes and scooted closer even though there wasn’t much space to eliminate. The drive back Alex’s apartment from his old house had been utterly silent, but Alex had stayed tucked into Michael’s side as if he was meant to be right there. All it did was confirm to him even more what he wanted.
They got into his apartment and Michael didn’t want to leave him alone. Alex, thankfully, didn’t want to be left alone. He was so clearly exhausted and they had pretty much immediately crawled into bed, laying as close as possible and fully clothed. Ianto, the brat he was, had happily decided to lay against his back which had Michael pinned between the cat and Alex.
Michael never wanted to leave.
“No, I’ve known that but that’s scary,” Michael said, shrugging, “And I wasn’t sure if it was just because of the sex or not.”
“Are you sure now?” Alex asked. His eyes were still a little puffy and Michael just adored him.
“I think so,” Michael said, “I know I never want to not be holding you when you’re sad.”
Alex huffed a laugh and rolled his eyes, but he nudged his nose into Michael’s.
“I want to talk,” Michael continued, “Which is… terrifying, but I want to. ‘Cause I was kinda mad when I thought you were sleeping with other people. I want to be the only person you’re sleeping with. So, I want to talk and I want to set boundaries. I want… I want to be gross and happy like that stupid couple that broke in.”
Alex smiled slightly, his fingers slipping beneath Michael’s shirt just to rest against his bare skin.
“Okay,” Alex said, “In the morning?”
“Obviously. You need cuddles and sleep right now,” Michael insisted. Alex rolled his eyes again, but he moved forward to lay his head on Michael’s chest. It was a little strange because they’d never actually cuddled like this before.
What the hell had he been wasting all this time for?
“And in the morning,” Michael added, wrapping his arms around Alex, “I’m going to kiss the shit out of you. Like it’s gonna be the best kiss you’ve ever had. I’m gonna blow you away. If you want, I mean.”
Alex laughed, a genuine laugh that Michael hadn’t heard in far too many days. That was a good thing.
“I want it. I can’t wait.”
Neither could Michael.

There’s a patience and sincerity to the way Steve approaches their budding relationship, this underlying sense that something very real is being built here, that makes Bucky want to throw his whole self into it, and his body is very much on board with this idea
A little too on board
Bucky has always been comfortable in his sexual nature, has always enjoyed physical intimacy and considers his drive for it pretty typical for a guy his age. But Steve stirs up something in him that’s not entirely familiar; a deeper, richer shade of want than anything Bucky’s ever felt before

So he tries to hold back. He really does. He succeeds for a while too, but every time Bucky gets in his space, every time he puts his hands on Steve’s chest and sighs against his lips or winds his arms up around Steve’s neck, Steve’s resolves cracks a little more

It’s one night when he’s driving Bucky home after a dinner date that the current between them shifts in a way that Steve doesn’t have the fortitude to redirect anymore
All night, Bucky’s been different with him, bold and insistent in the way he gets up in Steve’s space; letting his touches linger and looking at Steve with unmistakable intent. His hand has been resting on Steve’s thigh the whole drive home, fingertips tracing steadily higher up the inseam of Steve’s jeans, and there’s not a damn thing Steve can do to hide the effect it’s having on him

The light’s changed but Steve can’t move for a minute, can’t make the shift from brake to gas pedal. Bucky’s hand is trembling a little on his thigh and he’s looking at Steve so open and imploring, and what else can Steve do but lean over the console and put his lips against Bucky’s?  
He kisses him fierce and desperate, and when they finally make it back to Bucky’s place, they get all of about two steps in past the front door before the dam breaks and Steve’s catching Bucky’s mouth in a searing kiss, backing him up against the door and slipping his hands up under Bucky’s shirt.

Sam and Sully had gone to Las Vegas. “Just because,” Sam reasoned. He needed to forget how empty he felt whenever it was nighttime and he was lonely in bed.
Instead, he and Sully gambled, outsmarting each other in their own games. At the end of the night, Sam would go to the nearest bar to drink. That’s where he was reunited with Victoria, an old flame he had just before Panama.
Victoria – or Vix – as he called her, was a nice enough woman. She was as loud as he remembered her and he genuinely did have fun with her, and there was an understanding between them: it was just sex.
He'd take her to his RV every night, and every single time he fucked her, he thought of you. As he dug his fingers into the soft skin of her hips, he closed his eyes, imagining you, drowning out the sounds of her moans. He couldn't understand how he became so attached to you but no other person.
It was then the telephone started ringing. Sam sighed, considering his options. He wasn't close yet and he wasn't in a hurry so he got up and hobbled to the phone.
“Yeah?” Sam leaned against the wall, expecting it to be Sully calling from his five-star hotel room, but there was no response.
“Come on, Sam, don't keep me waiting,” Victoria whined. “I was so close.”
“Just a second,” he turned away from her. “Hello? Hello?”
The line cut out, leaving Sam confused. Must've been a wrong number.
He drove Sully back to California the next day, feeling a little sad about being back in Paso Robles. It didn't stop him from looking around as he drove, hoping to get a glance of you – that is, if you stayed in the area.
“I've gotta say that was the first Vegas trip I've been on where I haven't made any life altering decisions,” Sully mused. “Hell, that was the mildest experience I've had.”
“Jeez, Victor, sorry I made it lame,” Sam joked. Deep down they knew they were too old to get shit faced drunk and make horrible decisions just after a few nights in Las Vegas.
“Ah, maybe next time,” Sully picked up his bags as Sam parked in front of his mid-century style home. “What's next for Samuel Drake?”
“Uh,” Sam thought. “Gonna visit a special lady named Irene, then hopefully my business partner can find another job for us.”
“Oh, Irene,” Sully chuckled.
“Ah, so you know her,” Sam smiled.
“The ‘70’s were a wild time, Sam,” Sully winked, confirming yours and Sam’s suspicions.
“Well, good for you, Victor. She's still single, just so you know.”
“Right,” Sully laughed. “Hey, maybe you should go up to Los Angeles, just see the sights. Weather’s nice this time of the year.”
Huh , Sam thought to himself. He hasn't been in LA in years. It won't hurt to stop by.
“Sure, Victor. I'll send you a postcard.”
“There's an open house this weekend,” Stephen said over the phone. “I hope you understand.”
“Yeah, I'm totally cool with it.” You lay in the hammock of your backyard, smoking a cigarette and mindlessly scrolled through social media. Sam was always on your Instagram, giving you just a glimmer of hope.
“I'll call as much as I can. I love you.”
You paused, chewing on you lip. “I'll see you soon, Steve.”
You felt the tiniest pang of guilt as you felt a bit of relief to be away from Stephen for two weeks. As much as you tried, you couldn't love him. Sam was still in your mind and everytime you had sex with Stephen, you thought about Sam. It just didn't feel as good.
It didn't stop you from being racked with guilt. You didn't want to be with Stephen, but you didn't want to be lonely.
I'm a horrible person and I had the audacity to call Sam a selfish bastard, you let out an angry puff of smoke. Maybe we are a lot more alike than I thought.
You groaned as you slid off the hammock hanging on your back porch and padded your way into your kitchen to get a drink. The silence was overwhelming while you poured yourself a glass of orange juice.
You retired to your room and climbed into your cold, empty bed. You hated the silence. You missed Sam’s voice as he talked on and on about something that excited him.
You read and reread the letter he wrote you in the hospital. It was short but it was enough to make you miss him every time.
I'm sorry. No one's ever done anything like that for me and I feel horrible. Please get better. I'll make you pancakes like I promised long ago.

The landline phone caught your attention. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to hear his voice just for a bit.
You hastily got up and walked to the phone, mind racing as you picked up the receiver. You assured yourself it was fine and that Sam never had a caller ID.
Here goes, you held your breath as you dialed his number, dreading the ringing tones.
It kept ringing and you were scared it'll go to voicemail, but after a while, Sam finally picked up.
“Yeah?” He was out of breath.
Just that one word made your heart leap. You opened your mouth to say something when you heard someone in the background.
“Come on, Sam, don't keep me waiting,” a woman said in a sultry voice. “I was so close.”
“Just a second,” Sam called out. “Hello? Hello?”
You hung up. That was a terrible idea.
Irene was overjoyed to see Sam, peppering his face in kisses.
“Oh, you've grown so tall!” She joked. “It's so nice to see you, Sam.”
“You know I can't stay away from my favourite weed lady,” he chuckled.
“Are you staying long?”
“Nah, just dropping by to say ‘hi’.”
“Well ‘hi’ to you too,” she smiled.
She gave him a pan of banana bread (and some weed) before he left, asking if he ever got to see you. He wished he did.
You lay on the floor of your living room, music blasting on the stereo as you had a pity party. You had to end things with Stephen as the guilt was becoming too much for you to bear.
You had put the ring back on, staring at it as you held your hand up. You needed a drink.
The fluorescent lights of the store were a little too bright for you and you trudged to the fridge, ignoring the guy manning the cashier.
“You look like shit again,” he remarked.
“‘Kay, thanks for the input, Troy,” you muttered. Asshole.
You grabbed a few bottles of beer, hugging them to your chest. Just another Friday night.
“Sorry, I need a pack of cigarettes… Or two,” you heard a familiar voice. You peeked behind a shelf of condoms.
It was Sam. What the hell is he doing in LA and in this particular store too?
Fuck. You began to panic, glancing down at yourself. The grey sweatpants and your stained DIY shirt you painted years ago wasn’t the most flattering outfit and it didn't help that your hair was a mess.
You wanted him to just go, but through your panicked state, you dropped one of the bottles in your arms, catching Sam’s attention.
“Y/N?” He looked at you curiously.
“Heyy, Sam,” you sheepishly stepped away from the mess on the floor.
“Clean up on aisle two,” Troy mumbled, grabbing the broom and a mop.
“Sorry, I'll pay for that,” you tiptoed past him.
“No, I'll pay for it,” Sam looked at you, a smile tugging at the corner of his lip. Your heart leaped when you met his gentle eyes. “That's a lot of bottles.”
“TGIF, right?” You awkwardly laughed. Idiot.
“Can't argue with that,” Sam smiled.
Troy totalled up yours and Sam’s purchases after a lot of whining. Sam helped you carry your bottles of beer.
“Where ya heading?” He asked.

"So direct" You commented while texting your mother on your whereabouts. "I know right? Anyways, I can't do extra practice today, my sister called and needs me to watch Takeru. Sorry" Oikawa said. "That's fine, we'll practice another time" Hajime nodded. Once Oikawa was out of earshot, you turned to Iwaizumi, "Does this mean you can walk me home now?" You asked, already putting on your jacket.
Iwaizumi chuckled, "And why would I do that? Your house is in the opposite direction of mine". You pout a bit, "Uh because you always walk me home, asshat" You retort, crossing your arms. Iwaizumi laughed, "I'm sorry," He said, rubbing the back of his neck. You glare at him, "No you're not" You reply, furrowing your eyebrows. "You're right, I'm not. But hey at least your sets are getting better, you're welcome" He laughed. You just rolled your eyes and continued walking. The rest of the walk to your house was in comfortable silence. You just shook your head and focused your attention on the pavement in front of you, "W-What? No, you're fine" You replied, embarrassed. Hajime just blinked before nudging you slightly, "You good?" He inquired. You nodded and offered him a small smile, "Yeah I'm good". The silence that was once comfortable was now awkward. Iwaizumi wasn't stupid, he knew something was on your mind but what? He wasn't sure. The last thing he ever wanted, was for things to be uncomfortable with you. The relationship you two had was strange enough but he loved it. He even felt selfish for wanting more, thinking this is as good as it's going to get with you. The brunette racked his brain trying to think of something that would break the suffocating silence. Suddenly he remembered something he overheard the team talking about a few practices ago. "Hey, so... apparently everyone has a bet going on that we'll get together. What'd you think of that?" He asked, also looking ahead of him.
You turned to look at him again. Was this his attempt of finally asking you out? Or were you reading into it too much? "Oh yeah? Well, what's the bet exactly?" You inquired, genuinely curious. Iwaizumi glanced at you, "So it's between Mattsun, Makki, and Oikawa. The disaster duo bet that we'll get together by the end of the year. Because we're too oblivious to realize our feelings for one another. And the dumbass believes that we'll get together by the end of this month because it's Oikawa. The wager was that if Shittykawa wins, the duo has to serve him for a month. And if the duo wins, Oikawa has to ask out one of his psycho fangirls" Hajime explained. Wow, those were some pretty high stakes. You smirked a bit, "Is it bad that I want Oikawa to lose?" You asked, laughing slightly.
"Yeah, I kind of want him to lose too" Iwaizumi laughed, "But the only downside to that is that I'll have to wait until after this month to ask you out," He said. You looked at him with wide eyes. Ask you out? He was planning on doing that? Since when? "A-Ask me out?" You repeated, your voice wavering a bit. "Yeah, I was gonna do it this weekend but I really wanna see Oikawa suffer with one of his fangirls" Hajime sighed, shaking his head. You quickly step in front of him, grabbing his shoulders and looking at him with a serious expression. "Are you serious? This isn't a joke, right? I'll literally hate you if you're joking" You claimed. Taken aback by your sudden movements Iwaizumi stared at you blankly before answering, "Y-Yeah I'm serious. I, um, I really like you". You felt like throwing up but not in a bad way. Your heart felt like it wanted to beat right out of your chest. Is this what it was like to have a heart attack?
"If you really like me, then ask me out now"
Hajime's face suddenly became red, so much so that he looked like a strawberry. "H-Huh? What about the bet-" He started. "Forget the bet! I like you too stupid, I've liked you for longer than I'd like to admit. So please, ask me out" You pleaded, looking at him with those beautiful eyes of yours. Iwaizumi swallowed thickly, "Okay then, this is really happening. Y/n, want to go out with me this weekend?" He asked, shyly looking to side trying to avoid eye contact. You smiled so wide, one would think your face was about to tear in two. "Of course I'll go out with you" You answered, finally letting go of his shoulders and embracing him tightly. Iwaizumi smiled and returned the embrace while burying his face in your hair. "I've waited for this moment for so long" You confessed, your voice muffled. Hajime chuckled, "Well, I hope it was worth the wait," He said. You pulled away, holding Iwaizumi's face in your hands before kissing him deeply. When you two separated, you giggled at his dazed expression.
"It was definitely worth the wait"

Tadashi Oneshot (Big Hiro 6)

"(Y/N) do you wanna come with us to the cafe, Hiro is celebrating our newest rescue." Honey Lemon's offer was tempting, but you denied.
"It's okay, you guys have fun. I got midterms next week. Gonna try and shove as much information into my brain."
"Hah, if you were a genius you wouldn't have to." Hiro taunts. You just grab him into a headlock, and now he's struggling. He's at an obvious disadvantage with the height difference. "I don't need to be a genius to beat you up short stuff."
When he finally gets free he's fixing his hair with a little growl. 
"Just wait until I get taller!" He hollers. You laugh, and he's running off with Fred and Baymax. Wasabi and Gogo are close behind lecturing them about crossing the street recklessly. Honey Lemon is just beaming as she follows. Tadashi is the one who stops to look your way. The moment his brown eyes meet yours you look away, turning your back and heading in the opposite direction.
"Is that really the reason, or are you just trying to avoid me." You tense, stopping in your tracks. You just clench the bag by its straps.
"I don't know what you mean." It's said so coldly, and you just continue walking, not looking back or even hearing him out. When you're at a reasonable distance you can finally breathe better. It's then that you chance a look back, and Tadashi is still standing there with a solemn look on his face. There's obvious guilt, and you don't pay it much mind turning the corner.
You were a part of their friend group. No, you weren't a genius or even a hero like the rest of them. You were just a friend. You thought it was awesome, not many people could say they were friends with Sanfransokyo's superhero squad. You were just an average teen, enjoying college life. Trying to at least.
After the fire at the University, everything changed. The man behind the crime was caught and locked up, and no one was hurt. Tadashi wasn't hurt. Even though that was the case, you were angry at him. When he stormed into the building it exploded, everyone assumed he was gone, but luckily he'd gotten trapped in a backroom that was built to handle high temperatures. You'd never forget that day.
The fire department stormed the building and recovered his body that was thankfully unharmed. All he'd received was a small burn on his right arm. But for you, it left a lot more than a battle scar. Tadashi had been your friend for years, even when you were kids he was always considered the level headed one. He had to be with his parents gone, and you knew he needed to be the example for his younger brother. You were two years younger than Tadashi. It could have been the fact that he was older that you always admired him. But as you started to grow, that admiration turned into a crush, and that crush formed love. You were in love with him, probably long before you even fully understood what the word meant.
So that day when he rushed into a flaming building, you were just a couple feet outside, and the moment the explosion went off, you felt like your heart had been ripped right out of your chest. You couldn't speak, move, breathe..
Discovering that he was not only alive but fairly unharmed, it was easily the best news you got that day. But since that day, you've never been able to look him in the eyes. Whenever you saw him that dreadful feeling returned, it was like you were being suffocated. Rather than confront those negative feelings, you were trying to avoid it, except Tadashi wasn't an idiot.
Three months passed, of course he would notice. You made sure to never be alone with him. As a group, you could manage, and luckily no one else picked up on your distance. For now, you needed time to sort through your feelings. If you could get over how much you felt for him, maybe you could return to being friends.
"I promise I'll always be there (Y/N). We're best friends after all." A childish promise when you were young. It was ridiculous to cling onto something like that.

"Food." Your stomach had been grumbling for the last half hour, and you were so in tune to the tv show that you were ignoring it. The buzzing of your phone made your eyes shift. It was a text from Hiro.
"Can you stop by, I wanna show you my newest upgrade to Baymax. " 
You were about to respond but another message popped up.
"Don't forget the gummies." you giggled responding and tucking the device into your pocket. Now you really needed to get food.
It took about fifteen minutes to get there. You stepped out of our car, tucking the pack of gummies under your arm as you tried to balance your own meal. Locking your car, you headed into the building, stopping when you got to Tadashi's door. You opened it. 
"Hey Hiro you better pay me back for the gummies cause I nearly dropped my chicken for your stupid-" your words stop mid way. Tadashi is standing in the room, having turned when he heard your voice. You placed your food and Hiro's on the table, swallowing. 
"S-Sorry I..Hiro said he wanted to show me something so I just dropped by, but I can come back later." you don't want to be in here alone with him, you can't.
"(Y/N)." you're still facing him, and it's hard to not look at him.
"I guess it's harder for you to look at me now. Some of the girls have said this scar is cool, but most people aren't as impressed." Your brows knit at his words. He's trying to play it off as a joke, but there's a sadness that reaches his usually bright chocolate orbs.
"You..you really think it's because of a stupid scar." You're angry now, furious. Was his opinion that low of you that you'd shun him for a wound he got trying to help someone.
"BASTARD!!" Tadashi's is completely thrown by your words, and he can see it now, the sheer anger. "Stupid stupid stupid!!" your screaming, and Tadashi takes a step forward, not prepared at all for your outburst. When he gets closer he can see the tears, and it hurts him to see you so torn.
"Why are you-"
"YOU'RE SO SELFISH WHY WOULD YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT!!!" He reaches out to touch you, maybe try and calm you down but you shove him back. "You could have died and you just left me. Y-You didn't even care about Hiro..What would he have done, you're his only brother. Y-You just ran into the fire like you were some type of bullet proof vest! You didn't care!!! You don't care one bit about anything!! I hate you! I HATE YOU!!!"
Now it was starting to make sense. How could he not realize before. You were scared.
Terrified was more like it.
"(Y/N)..." He should have been more understanding of your feelings. Even Hiro was pissed with him when it all happened. It wasn't like he planned for that. It was somewhat of a reflex, he couldn't help it. "I hate you.." you mumble, dropping to your knees, Tadashi went down with you, pulling you into his arms. This entire misunderstanding was solely your fear of losing him. He should have put it together sooner. 
You'd known each other forever. Making such a decision without considering the residual effect it would have not just on his family but also his friends. At the end everyone was far more happy that he survived, but it could have just as easily turned bad.
"I'm so sorry (Y/N). I should have done things differently." helping people had always been something he wanted to do. It's a bit impossible to help if you're not there though. Risking his life like that, it was reckless. In a way he acted the same he'd constantly told his brother not to. Impulsive. The sincerity in his eyes, you could see it. This was the first time in a while that you'd been able to really look at him. He gave a small smile, and you returned it. 
"S-Sorry I called you a bastard." Tadashi laughed, wiping at your cheeks.
"I think I deserved it. So no harm done."
Now that you were no longer high on the adrenaline of the situation, you felt a bit vulnerable. Tadashi was so close. "You know..I've been thinking about a lot of things since then. These past few months I've come to realize that you aren't just a friend (Y/N). At least..not to me." you held his gaze, unsure of what response was right. His knuckles brushed the last of your tears away, and you pulled in a breath at the way his eyelids lowered. He bit his lower lip, and you could see he was evaluating something.
"Tadash-"
"Shhh..just let me..I just need to.." he didn't finish his statement, just leaned in. His kiss was so sweet, tender. Just like him. He didn't put too much pressure, or hold you down. They way he held you left so much room for you to move away if you really needed to. That's the last thing you were thinking though. You leaned in, hands gripping the front of his cardigan, tugging him forward. He took the initiative, slipping a hand into your hair as he continued to kiss you. The sound of a camera clicking is what made you pull apart. You both separated, and Hiro was standing behind the wall with his phone. He smirked. "Took you guys long enough. I hope you brought a lot of gummies, I should be given a medal honestly. " Tadashi glared, and it dawned on you that he must have set this whole thing up.
"When I get my hands on you!!" Hiro was running out the door laughing, and you could tell Tadashi wanted to go after him, but you took his arm, and he halted.
"I..I love you Tadashi. I always have." It took so many years to finally admit it, but when he smiled, and raised you off the floor, wrapping his hand around your waist, you could have melted on the spot.
"I love you too (Y/N). So much.'' you grinned, pulling him in for another kiss which he returned happily.

   “Yeah, your signatures don’t line up…” says the man at the front desk. “You said your name was… Lila Rossi, right? I’m looking for a... Marinette Dupain-Cheng?”
   “Present,” an amused Marinette announces.
   “No! There must have been a mistake. I personally talked to Brucie and his 4 sons, Jason Grayson, Tim Todd, Dick Drake and my precious Damibear!”

    “Yeah, Dick broke his arm yesterday at home. He fell down the stairs. And since I am such an amazing brother, I decided that I would fill in for him today!”
   “You were forced,” concludes Andrew as he scratches out Lila’s name off the previously mentioned thicc stack of papers with a black marker. 
   “Yup.”
   “This is the class you are supposed to caddy around WE. And they seem to be a bit peeved right now.”
   Jason sighs, “Ok. what’s the issue…”
   “They are saying that Lila Rossi, here” Andrew points to Lila, then looks down at his notes “says she spoke to a Brucie, a Jason Grayson, a Tim Todd, a Dick Drake and her precious Damibear to set up this field trip. My info here says that a girl named Marinette Dupain-Cheng set this trip up but they don’t believe me.” Andrew nonchalantly continues “Speaking of which, Marinette please sign on all the starred lines. Lila and her friend already filled out everything else.”
   “Tim Todd!” Jason chokes.

   The tour had slowed down in the corridors of Wayne Enterprises as Jason let the students go on a quick bathroom and water break. Lila had left for the bathroom, and it is safe to say that Marinette learnt her lesson to avoid bathroom confrontations with Lila. They were never fun, and right now she doesn’t think she can handle a wet shirt in winter. 
   “Really, Marinette. You take credit for all of Lila’s hard work,” says Kim passing by.
   “Do you have any idea how hard Lila worked on this, and you know she hardly has any time to spare.” Max pitches in. 
   “Yeah. Lila worked so fucking hard concocting the names Jason Grayson, Tim Todd and Dick Drake. Sounds like the revamped cast to The Three Stooges,” Chloe crackles giggling.
   “I sure wonder how Tim Todd and Jason Grayson are today? Are they well?” Marinette questions sarcastically.
   “Absolutely fucking amazing after hearing that!” Jason wheezes, overhearing the conversation. Jason gave Marinette a knowing look that confirmed an earlier inference. This Jason was Jason Todd. This was priceless. 
   Adrien’s eyes narrow on his angered face. “What was she doing.” “She promised to take the high road.” “She only needs me, I’m her best friend.” He watched the situation from a distance, unnoticed by Marinette. But as sly he is, he did not slip Jason’s radar.

   “So y’all, 1:30pm. That means, Lunch time!  Right and you’ll be at the cafeteria, I’ll be joining you guy in about 15 minutes. So fuel up. Remember to show your IDs, lunch is on the house! Bon appetit!” Jason cheerfully announced as bows dramatically (like actors at the end of a play) and he turns around.
   A bit into lunch Mrs. Bustier came up to Marinette and Chloe’s table. “Marinette, can I talk to you?” asks Mrs. Bustier. 
  “Can I come too, Mrs. Bustier?” asks Chloe suspiciously
   “No, Chloe. This is just in between Marinette and I, sorry.” Mrs. Bustier replies sternly.
   “It’s okay, Chloe. I’ll be fine,” reassured the ladybug holder, squeezing the bee holder’s hand.
   “Ok, fine. Let me know if something happens.” Then Chloe leans in to whisper to Marinette, “Audio record it, just in case.” Marinette nods. 
   “Ok, Mrs. Bustier. I’m coming!” replies the bluenette happily as she follows Mrs. Bustier away from the crowd. 
   Adrien, from his table with Nino, Alya and Lila watched, “Hey guys, I need to go to the bathroom,” he said before standing up.

  “Marinette you should be setting an example for the class. What you did today, making fun of Lila was wrong,” Mrs. Bustier frowned. “You of all people know Lila's condition and you should be more accepting of her.” Disappointed, Mrs. Bustier continues, “I expect you to apologize to her before we head back to the hotel.”
   “With all respect, no thank you. I will not apologize for my actions,” Marinette sternly begins. “Does the school have any medical record of her illness?” Marinette asks. “Why should I allow her to take credit for my hard work? And why do I have to be the model student who is obligated to be kind to everyone, when no one ever is to me?” Marinette, now more frustrated than before, questions the teacher. She felt a storm of emotion begin to stir. 
   “Because you are the class representative! It is your responsibility to lead the class with your example! Lila is a student with needs, she needs to feel accepted by all her classmates and it is your job to fulfill her needs.”
   “I’m sorry Mrs. Bustier, but sometimes I can’t shove a square in a circle. Sometimes I can’t do things. Lila is lying, and I can’t lie with her. I will not lie.i will not pretend to like her. And why must I be responsible for all the students in class, but receive no respect for it. Receive nothing but hate and insults. How is that fair for me?” Tears begin to collect in Marinette’s eyes. Mrs. Bustier, for the longest time, has been one of Marinette’s favourite teachers. The fact that right now Mrs. Bustier, couldn’t give less of a shit about her feeling hurt. 
   “I understand but what about Lila’s feelings? I cannot let you bully Lila. You are being selfish right now, I never thought you could act like this. I am disappointed in you.” Mrs. Bustier finishes as she walks away. 
   “What about MY feelings. What about me, what’s so wrong with me being selfish every once in a while. Have you ever looked into my family’s bullying complaints against Lila? What about me?” Marinette cries  desperately, as Mrs. Bustier walks away. “Why is everyone ignoring me?”
   “The real question here is, why are you ignoring me?” growled a voice from behind Marinette. “I thought you promised me to take the high road.” Marinette’s eyes widen as she realizes who’s talking to her. 
   “I never promised, Adrien. Not once. I can’t keep silent and alone for longer.”
   “You are not alone, you have me. And I even LET you talk with Chloe.”
   “Yes, I have Chloe and thank you your majesty for letting me communicate with another human being. And no, Adrien I do not have you,” Marinette raises her voice. “Lila has you, you only talk to me in secret. You let Lila lie, you let her hang off your pretty model arms when she wills. You are and were never on my side.”
   “So you really are jealous?”
   Marinette, delirious with anger frustration, her voice laced with contempt, “No, never.” 
   He looks down at Marinette and smiles “Stop lying Marinette.” 
   “I’m not.” Adrien looks back at Marinette, as if he knows something as he too stalks away. “I’M NOT!” Marinette yells.

   “So she said that she talked to Brucie, Jason Grayson, Tim Todd, a Dick Drake and her precious Damibear!” Jason nearly on his side from laughing too hard. 
   “DAMIBEAR!” Tim howled in laughter, with his hands wrapped around his torso to somehow hold his ribcage together. Both brother’s are laughing their asses off in Tim’s office.
   “I KNOW!”
   “Are we gonna tell him?” Tim begins to ask before he interrupts himself, “No! We are not. What we are going to do is call him that and let him figure it out, sooner or later he will meet the class and when he does…”
   Jason let the scenario Tim described play in his head, “YES! You now speak my wavelength, to be honest maybe Lila wasn’t lying. You may be a Todd.”
   “No fucking way am I one. By the way, you should check on the class, how long has it been since you left them?”
   “Shit! Twenty minutes! Farewell, dear Replacement.”
   “Have fun, report back on any juicy lies, specifically ones about sweet baby Damibear or even Brucie.”

   “What the fuck was that?” thought Jason as he heard two people arguing in a secluded hallway, “Marinette?” he thought when he saw the girl, immediately putting a name to the face. But he didn’t know the boy. Jason whipped out his phone and quickly took a picture of the situation, making sure to get a clear shot of the boy’s face. For research purposes.

   “Yes.”
   “And he is not Marinette’s friend?”
   “He absolutely is not Marinette’s friend. He’s the ass-hat who thinks he owns Marinette. Are you SURE I can’t punch him in the face?”
   “Yes.”

Snipet/first draft of a future scene from the Mojave AU under the cut because I crave dat sweet validation lmao
“So, I guess you two are almost ready to leave, huh?” Emogene asked, swirling her drink, and damn well already knowing her answer.
“It’s been a long while preparing, but yes, I think we finally are.” Jack replied, glancing over at his sister. Her gaze was lowered, and her head down slightly, as if afraid to look at him. He knew there was more on her mind, though, and his own expression drooped into a disappointed one. He’d already offered for her to come with them numerous times, but he couldn’t stand the thought of her withering away here at their home while he and Edward embark on the next big adventure. “… I can leave you some of the altered formula if you like -”
“Jack, stop.” She broke into a bittersweet smile and looked back over at him and shaking her head. “It’s okay. You don’t have to worry about me.”
She could say that, sure, but it wasn’t going to stop him. Even after finding the solution that led him to the composition of the new serum, he had offered to stay until she’d passed. And of course she’d told him she’d be fine. And of course he knew she was lying. She told him she didn’t want them to see her that way, but it was still going to weigh on him. Jack wondered if it made him selfish for wishing she’d come with them - if it was more for his own benefit than it was for hers, but another part of him felt that his heart was in the right place. But he supposed if she was ready to check out, it was hardly his place to try to deny her that. Though it hardly made the idea of coping with it any less painful.
“Hey, Jack?” Emogene’s uncharacteristically wistful voice pulled him from his train of thought.
“Hm?”
“When you guys get there…” She paused, her face scrunching ever so slightly as she searched for her choice words. “- like, not just get there, but after you two find a place to call home, and settle in, and find your footing… once you’re established, what’s the first thing you wanna do?”
Jack was taken back by the question, but as it sunk in, Emogene noticed his cheeks darken a bit, and a warm smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. “Promise you won’t laugh.”
“I’ll make no such promises.” She answered, after taking the last swig of her drink, and they both laughed softly.
“I, ah… I want to do something I should have done a long time ago.” There was an almost dreamy tone in Jack’s voice as he thought on it. “I’m finally going to… ask him to marry me. Make it official, after all these years.”
Emogene wasn’t sure exactly why the answer surprised her. Maybe because they’d already been together for lifetimes, so it never really seemed like a necessity, but there was something about hearing his response that warmed her heart. She beamed her brother a bright smile, that he shyly returned.
“I know it’s been well over two centuries, but we’re making this trip to start a new life - to finally get out there and live, and do the things we’ve always wanted to, without worrying about family or reputation or any of that hogwash.” Jack chuckled again. “I want to finally make it proper. It’s the least I owe him. He’s been so damn good to me all these years, even through all the family drama, and so many times when I didn’t even deserve it -”
“We both know damn well he doesn’t see it that way, but I see your point. He’d never hold that over your head.” Emogene laughed, eyes growing a bit misty, though she tried to blink back the tears. “God, to think you’re finally gonna’ get married and I’m gonna’ miss it.”
She wasn’t sure if they were happy tears or sad ones - probably both. Even though she knew she only had numbered days left to make up her mind, she was still so damn torn. She recalled her conversation with Adrian; her concerns about weighing them down if she’d go along with them, and how she’s always so convinced that nothing good ever lasts that she sabotaged anything good that came her way, and how she’d grow bored and cause them more trouble than she was worth, and prolong their journey with her ‘petty bullshit’ and her mood swings. But she suddenly felt like she was alreay mourning everything she’d miss out on; the thought of not being there for such an important day for Jack, and one she’d always hoped she’d live to see. The thought of all of the potential twists and turns and bumps and excitement that their journey may hold, and how he might learn and grow as a person in that time -
Sometimes you can teach an old dog new tricks, Adrian had joked. - And, hey, if your brother can come as far as he has in a few months, you can too - if you give yourself that chance.
Jack could see in the expression on her face just how turbulent her emotions were, and his expression softened sympathetically.
“You don’t have to miss it.” he sighed. “Emogene, I know you’re tired of hearing me offer, but… you can come with us.”
“I know. I know.” She huffed tiredly to herself; this conversation certainly wasn’t helping her predicament any, but she nodded at her brother anyway. “I’m sorry. This shouldn’t be such a hard decision, and I honestly don’t know why I’m so torn -”
“Because you’re tired. It’s been four hundred years, after all. Believe me when I tell you that I understand.” Jack offered her a bittersweet smile, the emphasis in his voice a clear sign that he did, indeed, understand all too well. “Which is the main reason I’m only reminding you that it’s an option, and not trying to drag you along against your will. I know full and well it’s not my choice to make, and I’ll respect whatever you choose.”
They exchanged tearful looks and sad smiles for a moment, before their pinkies locked - like old times. Emogene finally reclined back against the couch, and allowed her head to rest on Jack’s shoulder, and he rested his cheek against her hair with a tired sigh.
Occasions like that were yet another reason that part of her so badly wanted to hold on longer and tough it out and go along with them - she hadn’t seen this familial, warm side of Jack since even before their father had found that gods-forsaken artifact. Before the rift had formed between them. Before the man had started putting his work ahead of his family, and a hurt young Jack had started to act out against him.
Before all the bullshit, Emogene mused. She always knew that side of him was still buried deep down inside him somewhere - and the change in him over the last few months - now that he wasn’t absorbed in his work constantly - was palpable, if not a little ironic. But unlike Lorenzo, Jack had the option of unearthing that older, warmer version of himself.

A thud from the other side of you jolts you from your slumber. You quickly turn around to the right of you and see nothing but a bent elbow popping out from the side of the bed. "Don't worry, I can make them." You said as you got out of bed and started to try to find your clothes.
Spencer hurries to his drawers and grabs you one of his Caltech shirts. "Ok 1.I folded your clothes and put them out in the living room, but wear this for now if you'd like. And 2.You don't have to do that, I don't mind making them. After all, it is my apartment."
"1. You're very sweet, thank you. And 2.True, but I don't think you'd want to miss out on my dad's special, homemade waffles."
He grins in excitement, curious as to what made the waffles so special.

"You were right, I'm glad I didn't miss out on these," Spencers says as he chews on his last bite, "these are amazing, Y/N!"
"Well thank you, kind sir!" You say in a funny British accent before taking a sip of the tea he made for you. Thank god he had your favorite, black tea. You were very vanilla when it came to the treats and drinks you liked, but you didn't care.
Spencers giggles a bit after swallowing, grabbing his coffee mug. The two of you were silent for awhile. He was reading one of his books that he got from his shelves as you looked around at the forest green walls of his apartment. You started to daydream about last night. "If you don't want to continue with any of this and just start being friends, as if none of this had happened, I'm tot-"
"That's the last thing I want to do," He reaches out across the table with both hands and holds yours into his, "Y/N, I really enjoyed these past two nights as well. I've never had a connection like this before, let alone do any kind of drug. I usually try to stay away from it because of my eidetic memory, but for some reason, I really, really loved getting high with you. I would like to continue what we have. You smiled at him. You didn't think he'd want to continue with you, let alone continue to be your friend. He was listening to you, speaking back to your sentences. It was all so new coming from another person that wasn't your dad.
"Especially when it's with a pretty girl like you." He mumbles to himself as he raises his mug to his lips.
"What was that last part?" You ask.
"Hm?" He pretends to not know what you were talking about and you knew that, so you didn't push anymore.
"Well, since we both enjoy with what we have going on, I agree to a friends with benefits relationship with you," you said grabbing your tea, "but we have to keep it from the team. God, if they knew, all hell would break loose."
"Yeah, and Garcia isn't one for keeping secrets. Trust me, we had a new member several years ago and she only told Hotch and Morgan that she was pregnant. When she saw her glowing, Garcia grabbed her wrist and brought her into the conference room where she kinda made her announce to the rest of us."
You almost spit out your tea as you hold in a laugh. Even with this short amount of time, you could already tell that Garcia was just a bundle full of rainbows and unicorns and excitement, so much so she could never contain it. But the fact that she innocently made someone give this big announcement out when she probably wasn't ready to do so yet, that was something that didn't shock you fully, but did a little bit.
Spencer grabs both of your plates and brings them to the sink. He sits back down and takes another sip of his coffee. "How about we talk about it over lunch today," he asks, "There's a popular diner just a couple blocks from here that people are raving about. Says they treat their costumers like family, even if it's your first time there."
Before you could say yes, your phone rings. You pick it up and see that the caller ID was none other than your father. Spencer tells you he's going in the shower as you press the green button and put the phone up to your ear.
"Hey dad!"
"Hey, pumpkin! How's Dave and the team treating you?"
"Great! They welcomed me in right away, even though we were on a case. They treat each other like family, it's nice to have when you're surrounded by death."
"Yeah, I saw on the news. I'm so proud of you, you know that right? And I'm so glad that they're taking good care of you. I did call Dave on your first day to make sure of it."
"Dad!"
"I know, I know, I'm sorry, I had to."
You then tell him about what happened after the case. Not everything, obviously, but you did tell him that you and Spencer really connected at Garcia's place and became really good friends after the case was over. You hear the shower turn off as you sit on the couch. Your father then asks you something, and you couldn't wait to tell Spencer. He ends it by telling you to have a good lunch with Spencer along with, "If that boy hurts you-" but you cut him off telling him not to worry, "He wouldn't even hurt a fly unless it was a serial killer."
"Alright honey, call me when you can ok? I love you."
"Love you, too Dad. Bye."
As you hang up, Spencer walks out with a towel wrapped around his waist, another smaller one running through his hair to dry. You look at him, speechless.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer." He jokes.
"I might take you up on that offer," you say, "but maybe they'd be of me to send to you."
You wink at him. He then laughs and throws his wet hair towel at you. You throw it back, laughing along with him.
"So, your dad called?" He asked as he walked to his room to change.
"Yeah, he just wanted to make sure I was ok after the case and made sure that Rossi was treating me well along with the rest of you."
"Your father seems like a good man!" He says loudly.
"Yeah, he is. Thank god for that and for the fact I don't have any daddy issues."
"That's not what it looked like last night." He walks in wearing a tannish brown, grandpa-like cardigan with a maroon undershirt. His pants were a darker brown, darker like chocolate, and he paired it with his black converse. You grab a pillow from behind you and threw it at him and he throws it back, the laughter from before continuing.
