How To Create A Comprehensive List Of Potential Flooring Contractors?
When it comes to creating a comprehensive list of potential flooring contractors, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. It is important to consider various factors and resources in order to ensure the best possible outcome. This article will provide a comprehensive overview of how to create an extensive list of potential flooring contractors in order to make an informed decision on which contractor is best suited for the job.
The first step in creating a comprehensive list of potential flooring contractors is researching the industry. It is important to read up on industry standards, research different types of flooring materials, and familiarize oneself with current trends and pricing models. Additionally, understanding the differences between licensed and unlicensed contractors can help narrow down the selection process.
In addition to research, referrals from trusted sources such as family and friends should be taken into consideration when forming a list of potential flooring contractors. Professional organizations such as the National Wood Flooring Association can also be consulted for qualified recommendations. Furthermore, online reviews can provide insight into customer satisfaction rates for each contractor.
Research Requirements
Before beginning the process of creating a comprehensive list of potential flooring contractors, it is important to consider the research requirements necessary to identify qualified professionals. Researching the local market and understanding all licensing requirements are essential to ensure that prospective candidates meet industry standards. Additionally, researching their previous projects and determining what materials they specialize in should be taken into consideration. An assessment of their customer service and ability to adhere to deadlines should also be included in the research process. It is important to note that all potential contractors should be thoroughly vetted before making a decision. This includes reviewing references, verifying insurance coverage, and obtaining detailed cost estimates for comparison purposes. By conducting thorough research, one can create an accurate list of qualified professional contractors who can provide quality services at reasonable prices.
Sources Of Information
When creating a comprehensive list of potential flooring contractors, it is important to consider multiple sources of information. The internet is a great place to start as many flooring contractors have websites and can be easily located online. Additionally, local search engines are useful for finding local businesses that specialize in flooring services. Professional organizations and trade publications can also provide helpful information about qualified contractors. For example, the National Wood Flooring Association offers resources for locating certified wood floor professionals in certain areas. Finally, personal referrals from family members and friends are also an effective way to find reliable flooring contractors. It is important to remember that each referral should be carefully evaluated before selecting a contractor for the job.
Conclusion
Finding reliable and experienced flooring contractors can be a difficult task. To make this process easier, it is important to create a comprehensive list of potential contractors. Before starting the search, it is essential to research the requirements for the project. This includes determining the type of flooring needed, budget and timeframe. Once the project requirements are established, potential sources of information can be used to build the list.
The first step is to ask family members, friends and colleagues who have recently renovated their homes if they can recommend any flooring contractors. This can provide valuable feedback and recommendations from people with firsthand experience. Additionally, online directories such as Yelp or Angie’s List may provide reviews and ratings on local contractors in the area. Furthermore, researching contractor associations such as the National Wood Flooring Association may also provide helpful information regarding qualified professionals in certain geographic areas.
Finally, once a shortlist of contractors has been created, it is important to inquire about their experience and qualifications before making a decision on who to hire. Request references from past projects as well as proof of insurance coverage and certifications necessary in order to ensure that all legal requirements will be met during the installation process. By following these steps, roofing experts should be able to easily create an exhaustive list of qualified flooring contractors for any given project requirement.

1969 Shelby Mustang GT500 Fastback
1969 was, effectively, the final year for the Shelby Mustang. By now assembly had shifted in Michigan from California where it was contracted out to A.O. Smith Corporation. Smith, an established Motor City contractor, had brought a level of serious manufacturing skill, supplier management, procedure and standards never seen at Shelby’s facility where LAX met the vibrant (and sometimes extreme) subculture of Venice, California.
Now largely designed and specified by Ford staffers, the 1969 Shelby Mustang was drastically different visually from the standard Mustangs, with a completely different nose and grille, a wide rectangular opening with blacked out grille flanked by 7” headlights and with Shelby’s characteristic driving lights now smaller rectangular pieces below the attractive, but largely ineffective, bumper. The special Shelby hood had five ducts, three NACA-style surface ducts replaced the complicated but entertaining shaker hoods of years gone by to supply cold air directly to the engine air intake and two extractors at the back of the hood relieving underhood pressure and exhausting heated air in front of the windshield.
A surface duct behind the headlights and a scoop behind the door and in front of the rear wheel arch that was ducted to the rear brakes continued the performance theme. The rear panel was completely different from the Mustang, housing a set of 1965 Thunderbird sequential taillights with the rear license plate placed between them and including a small ducktail spoiler. The area under the bumper where standard Mustangs carried their license plate contained two rectangular outlets for the Shelby’s dual exhaust system. Standard wheels were unique 5-spoke Mag Stars with alloy centers and chrome steel rims.
Under the hood lay the 428 Cobra Jet which had powered the ’68 Shelby GT500KR. Both Ford and Shelby recognized the superiority of the high performance CJ and made it the standard engine for 1969’s Shelby Mustangs.
At the end of the 1969 model year 789 Shelby Mustangs were in-process at A.O. Smith. They were visually updated with black hood stripes and a chin spoiler and given new VINs. Otherwise the 1970s were exactly the same as the ‘69s making these two years essentially identical examples of the end of the Shelby Mustang series which had begun only a scant six years before.
Avidly sought by collectors and obsessively documented by the Shelby American Automobile Club, most Shelby Mustangs are well known and have well known histories. Occasionally, however, a example appears which has been out of sight for years. Even more rarely it turns out to have been little used and continuously maintained by a thoughtful and caring single owner for nearly forty years.
The Black Jade 1969 Shelby Mustang GT500 Sportsroof fastback offered here is one of those rare and highly desirable cars. It was delivered new to Ford’s dealer in Yokohama, Japan, Marubeni Motors K.K., and was sold thereafter to its first, and only, owner in Japan. It has been repainted in the original color once but is otherwise completely original, as delivered and has only 84,941km on its metric-calibrated export speedometer (52,779 miles.) Its sympathetic maintenance and care shows throughout in its clean, straight, rust-free condition.
Power of course comes from the 428 cubic inch Cobra Jet Ram Air V-8 engine which Ford and Shelby conservatively rated at 335 horsepower at 5,200rpm and a gut-wrenching 440 lb-ft torque at 3,400rpm. It puts the power through Ford’s highly regarded C-6 automatic transmission and Traction-Lok differential with high speed 3.00:1 gearing that takes full advantage of the CJ engine’s torque. In addition to the highly desirable drivetrain specification it is loaded with options including the Visibility Group, Goodyear white letter tires, Sport Deck folding rear seat, power front disc brakes, power steering, tilt steering column, Selectaire air conditioning, AM/8-track stereo radio, tinted glass, deluxe belts, tachometer and trip odometer.
It is finished in one of the Shelby Mustang’s most attractive colors, Black Jade. The interior and high back buckets seats are upholstered in black Clarion Knit/Corinthian vinyl that complements with Black Jade exterior.
It returned to the U.S. in 2006 but has never been titled by its current owner so it remains a one-owner car. Its absolutely clear history, one-owner provenance, highly original condition with known mileage and extensive options list are attributes shared by few Shelby Mustangs of this age. This is a rare opportunity for an astute collector to acquire a particularly significant, unmolested Shelby Mustang from the last, and most highly developed, series.
1969 Shelby Mustang GT500 Fastback
Powered by a 428ci V8 engine mated to a C6 automatic transmission, this beauty includes the original #Shelby owner card, a copy of the Shelby work order and Window Sticker.

My angel number. Keep going, take the risk, move forward, change is happening.
Today I’ve been researching names for my consulting business. I’m circling around dreamlandd (Dream + LandD) - the .com is available. I snagged it as an option. I set up an appointment with my tax person to next week to identify what kind of corporation I’d set up, there are a lot of options and I want to make sure I’m doing everything correctly. I’m thinking I’ll just do a sole proprietorship out of the gate but if anyone has any advice on that versus an S-Corp, I would appreciate it!
After that, it’s just locking the name and applying for a business license. I also need to compare the merits of basing it in Washington vs California which she will help me with.
My flight is booked for Seattle in a few weeks to start dealing with all of the deferred Alki maintenance. There was another power surge which fried the upstairs furnace transformer, so I had to get that repaired, I’m hoping I can make a claim with the city to help cover that cost. Upon inspection, it turns out that the furnace downstairs is over 31 years old, which is insane, they only last about 15 years so I am well overdue for a new one. I think it can last a while longer while I assess the cost of putting another floor on the top of the house, which in that case, probably, I’d likely just replace both of them. I’m so bad at understanding any kind of basic house maintenance, that needs to be some thing I develop more of an acumen around this year.
Otherwise, my sister‘s ex partner who is a contractor is going to come and look at the floor in the bottom unit that was damaged by the leak, assess for mold and then give me a bid for replacing all of the flooring. There’s also a ton of old broken furniture, an outdoor fireplace and barbecue that are rotted out and a really old outdoor storage unit that’s rotted that I’m going to have a junk service removed.
Onward!

Mogil-Kahn Construction Company 1957 (Photo taken by Tim Aarons in March 2023 on Collins St. between Lankersheim and Tujunga).
Kahn was Edwin “Ed” Walter Kahn, born on June 3, 1922 in Pittsburg to “Theodore and Helen H. (Meyers),” and a “construction company executive, engineer” (Who’s who in the West: A Biographical Dictionary of Noteworthy Men and Women of the Pacific Coast and the Western States, A.N. Marquis Company, 1989). In 1935, he lived with is family in Portland, Oregon. He was still with his family in Portland in 1940 (per the 1940 U.S. Federal Census). However, he attended Fairfax Senior High School in Los Angeles, CA. Before WWII, he also attended UCLA, where he played soccer and baseball. In WWII, he was a lieutenant pilot in the USA Air Force - a B-24 bomber pilot in the 89th and as a flight instructor. He was later a civil engineer and, if I understand the abbreviations correctly, he had gotten a B.S. degree in civil engineering from the University of California in 1948 (assuming Berkeley).
According to his obituary, he was a “Registered Professional Engineer and a licensed General Contractor.”
He married Arleen Barbara Rudolph on December 23, 1951, and they had two children - Gregory Michael and Julia Fran. He was the chief structural designer for General Engineering Service Company in Los Angeles in 1948 and then a partner in Pollak-Kahn & Associates, engineers, also in Los Angeles in 1949. and Mogil-Kahn Construction Company (World Who’s who in Commerce and Industry, Volume 10, Marquis-Who’s Who., 1957). He died February 5, 2016 and is buried in the Hollywood Hills Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Pollak-Kahn was located at 1106 S. La Cienega Boulevard, now LB4LB Boxing Gym (Glaziers Journal - Volume 35, pg. 60, 1956). One project they had was the design and engineering of “a fully integrated community for light industry” on a 100-acre “tract of industrial buildings and plant sites” (Industrial Development, Volumes 3-4, Conway Publications, 1956).
According to the realty company, Crisby Doe Associates, “it is clear that Pollack & Kahn fully mastered the now classic post & beam glass house style pioneered by the U.S.C. School of Architecture just after war. Their work seems most closely aligned with that of Richard Dorman’s designs of the period. The living spaces are lifted, and set above the carport to allow maximum light and views from the close-in hillside setting.”
Some more info from his obituary: “He retired after 40 years as a real estate developer and as President of Kahn Construction Co., Contractors and Engineers. He had a commercial pilot's license and served as a docent at the original Museum of Flying in Santa Monica. Ed was a member of the Masons, Scottish Rites, Shriners, Commemorative Air Force, Air Force Association, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Ed is survived by his wife and best friend, Mariko, sons Greg and Winston, daughter Julie, stepdaughters Pam (Harry) Kraushaar and Andrea (Jeffrey) Lustgarten, stepson Mitchell Barnow (Dale Leininger) and step grandchildren, Shelby Powell (Brian), Kimberley Kraushaar, Brandon and Rachel Lustgarten.” (No mention of Arleen?) They also had two pets named Maya and Corey.
I have no idea who Mogil is. Really strange how I could find out so easily who Kahn was but not Mogil. Mogil may be Norbert V Mogil, who was located at 6517 W Olympic Blvd according to the Los Angeles Street Address Directory, 1956, May (Los Angeles Public Library).

Calculating the Home Addition Cost: Budgeting Tips for Homeowners
Home additions can be a great way to add space and value to your home. However, they can also be costly if not properly budgeted for. Calculating the home addition cost accurately is essential to avoid any financial surprises. Let’s explore some budgeting tips for homeowners looking to add an addition to their homes.
Determine the Purpose of the Addition
The first step to calculating the Home Addition Cost California is determining the purpose of the addition. Are you adding a new bedroom, bathroom, or kitchen? Or are you looking to add a garage, a deck, or a sunroom? The purpose of the addition will help you determine the project's size, materials, and cost.
Set a Realistic Budget
Once you have determined the purpose of the addition, you can set a realistic budget. This budget should consider the cost of materials, labor, permits, and any other fees associated with the project. You should also factor in any unexpected costs that may arise during the construction process.
Get Multiple Quotes
To ensure that you get the best value for your money, it is essential to get multiple quotes from reputable contractors. This will help you compare prices and find the best contractor for your project. You should also ask for references and check the contractor's license and insurance before hiring them.
Consider the Cost of Materials
The cost of materials can vary significantly depending on the type and quality of materials you choose. It is essential to factor in the cost of materials when calculating the home addition cost. When choosing materials, you should also consider the long-term cost of maintenance and repairs.
Plan for Permit Fees
Most home additions require permits from the local government. These permits can be costly, so planning for them when budgeting for the project is essential. You should also factor in any other fees associated with the permits, such as inspection fees.
Factor in Labor Costs
The cost of labor can vary depending on the contractor and the type of work being done. You should factor in the cost of labor when calculating the home addition cost. You should also ask the contractor about their payment schedule and ensure that it is reasonable.
Consider Financing Options
You may need to consider financing options if you do not have enough money to pay for the home addition up front. These options can include a home equity loan, a personal loan, or a credit card. When choosing a financing option, it is essential to consider the interest rates and repayment terms.
In conclusion, calculating the Home Addition Cost California requires careful planning and budgeting so as to add value and space to a home while also being a sound financial investment. Working with reputable contractors and communicating openly with them throughout the construction process is also important.
