in the universe where calis' ( @al-hazen ) haytham and zarina are (were) together, after speaking with him in the jail cell, and when nahida comes to visit her... zarina would ask nahida to take care of him and protect him. because she understands how much haytham treasures nahida and she want him to be safe, to live, to not look back.

so she asks nahida to watch over him and make sure he lives, he moves forward, and they both do not leave each other's sight. it's the second time in that universe where nahida will see the deepest complexity of zarina and ask why zarina simply did not stop when she could. and zarina? she'd give a soft smile and go 'I've learned the danger and no one would've done this. if it means protecting those who I care about? I don't mind becoming the villain, the monster, the beast. I do not regret a thing I've done to reach my knowledge, but... I do regret that this was the only way... to secure a future for those I care about. do not feel bad for me, do not have pity on me, do not tell him anything.' she already left everything she learned in haytham's hands with her book/diary locked away with an elemental lock only he'll be able to unlock without destroying contents inside. she is obviously prepared for everything to end. as in, she is ready to accept the punishment that'll be delivered (hoping that her hidden plan will fail).

and nahida has all the reasons to be upset at zarina for hurting haytham by [betraying] him but it's also 'I've never lied to him' which is true, she did not lie to him but she hid away. and she doesn't expect anyone to feel bad for her. she simply wants haytham to live and if she must become a beast to keep him safe from the shadows? she will. if she has good relationship with nahida by that time aside her already established respect, she'd wish to protect nahida, too. in her own twisted and overprotective way. all because she knows the dangers of the abyss, the knowledge, the truth. thus, she'd show her true self to nahida and her true resolve. but only to her. not to haytham, not to the trial, but to nahida alone.

Excuse me as I'm still thinking about tattoos.. (I got that 1 track mind for days at a time) but I love how there's a small and niche community of artists and tattoo enjoyers in this area that all know about eachother. The amount of times I've been asked 'is that done by ___?' While at an event or getting tattooed has been a lot. Or yesterday when other people showed up 3 of us had tattoos by the same artist and I could easily recognize the style of some of the tattoos on them as well. It sometimes feels like being in a fun little club where we're all are big fans of the same artists and get excited when we recognize the art.

(Now I just wish when people asked me for tattoo recs they'd listen to me... but alas 80% of people just want neo-trad or fine-line. No hate at all but listen there's SO much good variety out there 🥹)
