Hello👋 i see you are currently taking request, so i'm gonna send you one. Can i have some headcanons with the MCs where they have a crush who has an insanely powerful awakened power BUT has a weak body? And she is constantly sacrificing herself? (Inspired by Cale, Dokja, and Yoojin's character)

P.S. I don't want to be demanding so if you find this quite hard gor you to write, then you don't have to

hi! it's alright ahaha, no worries!

note: this might be a little long, so everything is kept under the cut!

JIWOO would most likely be worried All the time. i could see jiwoo as the type to go hey!! are you okay!! what happened!! (cue worried Hug) all the time after his crush just disappears when she goes off to sacrifice herself in a situation. he wants to look out for her always, in all ways, and take care of her as much as possible.

it's pretty interesting to think of jiwoo's character as a whole too, imo, since he is Also someone who's constantly sacrificing himself, and (much like kdj, cale henituse, yujin, and his crush), has self-deprecating qualities. on more than one occasion she’d probably go,

crush: you worry about me all the time, but jiwoo...don’t you do this too??

jiwoo: yeah but this isnt about me!! stay focused queen!! hydrate and get some rest!!

overall, theyre both just hand in lovable hand. holding hands as much as possible so no one sacrifices their self anymore.

KAYDEN is pretty confident in his crush’s power and strength, but he is very much looking out for her. as we’ve seen with how kayden pretends to ‘not care’ for jiwoo in the webtoon then proceeds to go eliminate anything that harms jiwoo, it’s safe to say that he’d do that again for the person he’s crushing on in a heartbeat — maybe even in a much more intense way.  

i like to think that an activity they both like is training. as they’re both very strong individuals, they can go all out on each other. kayden always encourages her strengths and makes sure to work through her points of improvement together, especially on developing a stronger stamina, so that when she Does go to sacrifice herself, at least she can withstand it a bit more. (kayden is her no.1 supporter and no.1 fanclub president, no matter how much he tries to deny it. he’s so immensely proud of her.)

very much a simp. do not underestimate how much kayden can be a simp for his beloved. you know how ken from barbie life in the dreamhouse says “my barbie senses are tingling” every once in a while? yeah. kayden kinda does that too 😭 just as she’s ready to go all out to sacrifice herself again, boom — kayden break is there. he takes her home, fusses over her, and he makes sure to lift her spirits up. when his crush points this out, kayden tries (and fails) to not get flustered.

crush: you missed me, didn’t you? that’s why you came running to get me.

kayden, tomato fucking red: no i didn’t? lmao what r u saying?

JISUK pretends not to be worried but, much like kayden, is secretly always right by her side. always keeping one eye open just in case. when she’s around he’s always like mehh okay fine whatever but like.. once she’s gone he’s all .. “omg? where are you? where’d you go? yo? hello?” 

also, jisuk (not so subtly) constantly hypes her up. again, much like kayden, he knows that his crush feels like she’s always lacking (even if her power is tremendous and used to its greatest potential), so he always wants to let her know that he has her back. it’s just some good old sincerity from yoo jisuk. 

(is not comfortable with open hugs or physical forms of reassurance right away, but i like to think that he does hug her after one incident where everyone thought she really sacrificed herself for Good and like . when she pops out of nowhere with, i’m alive ahaha what’s up? jisuk does not hesitate to cling on to her.)

WOOIN — the sweetest ever. he’s always open and softer with her, and he doesn’t hesitate to tell her to take care of herself or do his best to get trouble out of her way (even if he’s a little embarrassed about how whipped he is sometimes). a mixture of worried and trusting —  he knows she can fend off anything that hinders her without even batting an eye, but he really does not want her to just sacrifice herself so easily like that. 

wooin’s duality can come into the scene too, i think. at one moment he’s having small talk with her so she can rest, then the other moment he sets off to go and personally destroy the thing that almost made her sacrifice herself in the first place. then he’s back to bonding and resting together.

after jiwoo, wooin would also be most likely to not hesitate to sacrifice himself in return. 

SUBIN treasures her above so many things, so i think it’s not gonna be unlikely for her to step in when her crush is getting ready to surrender herself again. dotes on her a lot, and fusses over her too — at every moment possible, subin wants to make sure she’s free from any wounds/scrapes/hunger/lack of sleep. subin adores her crush so much, so it’s understandable that she’s a little down whenever her crush puts herself down, too; subin doesn’t hold back when she wants to praise or comfort her. 

i think sparring and training together would also be their go-to hobby. subin goes easy on her most of the times, which ends up in her crush going “girl i’m not made of glass you can go all out on me!!” but subin can’t. even if she did, her crush would win anyway, which just fuels subin’s infatuation w her ahahaha. 

hides her worries in playful gestures and lighthearted conversations. she wants to be someone that could remind her crush of how she (crush) is deserving of so much love. subin would really stick by her side through anything that could happen.

SUCHEON (including him because i couldn’t resist) - The pinnacle of “idc just go and do ur thing” and then once she Does do her thing he goes.. “wait. wait. where are you. if you actually sacrifice urself im gonna Get You.”

also the pinnacle of pretending he doesn’t care but actually he does. actually he was up all night trying to look for her when she disappeared after an incident. actually all his problems disappeared when he saw her again.

this one was interesting, and it was really fun to think out how each of them would react! thanks for the request ~

Modern AU

KRS is in his 2nd year in high school when people out of nowhere gather around him. LSH is the overprotective and charismatic sunbae while CJS is his childhood friend. Alberu, Rosalyn, Jack, Hannah, Mary and CH ambush him at school and annoy the heck out of KRS. Eruhaben’s the poor homeroom teacher stuck taking care of them. The kids get adopted by Sherrit and the wolf tribe. The Henituse couple claims to be KRS’s godparents and proceeds to smother KRS with gifts and money. CH is CJS’s distant uncle but somehow just a year older and in the same class. He also takes up the role of being KRS’s bodyguard (as if CJS and LSH weren’t doing that already). Poor KRS is confused as to why these people bother him but just learns to roll with it. He gains his memories a month later (the God of Death wanted to mess with him for a bit but got bored).

Also: 

Bud is the head of the local police. Glenn runs a popular bar and Bud is his most troublesome customer.

Cage and Taylor Stan are regulars in said bar. They also join the gang to annoy KRS sometimes.

Gashan runs a cat cafe, which KRS secretly visits. (Yes, the others know but they pretend not to. The kids are very jealous.)

Witira, Archie, Paseton and Litana are seniors in college. They meet KRS at the cat cafe. (The Whales are cat lovers in this AU. Litana prefers dogs though and Ten is her pet.)

Lee Jin Joo is a senior at the same college. Lee Seung Won is KRS’s juniour.

Tasha and the Dark Elves mostly assists Alberu in his work. They live in the neighborhood next to Rok Soo’s dorm.

Park Jin Tae is the school delinquent and Lee Chul Min is his follower.

Grandma Kim is the sweet old lady who runs KRS’s favourite bakery.

WS and his group have no power and are infamous for their behaviour. The teachers don’t care though as they get beaten up by Cale/KRS and co. if they do anything. Adin is Valentino’s cheating ex. (Valentino beats the shit out of him after he finds out.)

Billios runs his shop which KRS, CJS and CH frequent. Odeous is the head of the local mafia.

OG Cale exists and acts like the tsundere elder brother that he is. (LHS, Alberu and OG Cale have a competition going on for the best hyung title, KRS is sick of it. CJS was disqualified.) He also gets a happy and healthy relationship with his family here.

The children get introduced to KRS by Eruhaben. They cling to him after that. He also tutors them with the wolf children (Lock is included) and babysits the wind elementals who are chaotic toddlers. (He wants to quit but the pay is really high so he doesn’t.)

Toonka runs a well known private security company with Harol. (Deruth hires them for KRS and his children. Cale and KRS are not happy.)

Ron, Beacrox, Freesia, Hilsman and Hans are part of the staff that works in the dorm KRS stays in. (The others move into said dorm when they get to know.)

The ancient powers are people who are mistaken for KRS’s creepy stalkers at first, but after KRS remembers them the threats (courtesy of Deruth, Ron, LSH, CJS, CH, the children, etc) stop.

The World Tree is the stressed out principal of KRS’s school. The Elves and dragons are teachers there.

Duke Fredo is this creepy, very rich businessman who tries to adopt KRS every chance he gets (which is not very much because of the others). That doesn’t stop KRS from accepting the money Fredo gives him though. (Deruth cries after he hears this.)

Cale has a fanclub and Clopeh Sekka is in charge of it. Hans, CH, CJS, LHS and the kids are a part of it and make sure to keep it a secret from KRS.

Most importantly, NOBODY DIES. (Except for maybe WS and his bastards.)

1/24: DJ Maseo (De La Soul), Empty Bottle

De La Soul MC Vincent Mason, also known as Maseo, does a DJ set at the Empty Bottle tomorrow night. He’s currently working on his “DJ-Conductor” concept album, whatever that entails, so don’t be surprised if he spins album cuts and potentially spits over them, too.

1/24: Junius Paul, Constellation

The most recent album for upright and electric bassist Junius Paul was December’s excellent ISM, yet another in a strong line of releases on local jazz label International Anthem. Tomorrow night, he plays as part of a quartet with some of the record’s most prominent contributors: Corey Wilkes on trumpet, Justin Dilliard on piano, and Vincent Davis on drums.

1/24-1/25: Tedeschi Trucks Band, Chicago Theatre

Tedeschi Trucks Band returns to the Chicago Theatre for their annual residency, which took place last weekend and continues tomorrow night and Saturday. Their most recent record was last year’s Signs, which we described as “definitely a band showcase,” highlighting the horns of “Walk Through This Life” and Susan Tedeschi’s blues guitar picking on “The Ending”. A year removed from Signs, expect to hear from all over their discography and a smattering of covers, especially if their recent sets have been any indication.

1/24-1/26: Benjamin Gibbard & Tara Jane O’Neil, Thalia Hall

Death Cab For Cutie leader Benjamin Gibbard comes to Thalia Hall for a three-night stint. Though he’s released one studio solo album (not counting his cover of Teenage Fanclub’s Bandwagonesque), most of his performed material should be DCFC with a couple Postal Service classics thrown in for good measure.

Opening is LA-based multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Tara Jane O’Neil, whose last studio album was her excellent 2017 self-titled release. Over the past couple years, she’s dropped various compilation, reissue, live, soundtrack, benefit, and singles records. With a catalog that spans two decades, who knows what she’ll perform?

1/25: Dave Burrell with Joshua Abrams and Hamid Drake, Constellation

Saturday’s trio at Constellation juxtaposes a piano legend with two of Chicago’s finest bassists and drummers--respectively, Dave Burrell with Joshua Abrams and Hamid Drake.

1/25: Dave Alvin and the Guilty Ones and Kevin Gordon Band, FitzGerald’s

At this point, Blasters founding member Dave Alvin has had a longer career as a solo artist than as a member of various classic cowpunk acts. While one of those bands, The Flesh Eaters, released an album last year, Alvin’s last record billed to his name was Downey to Lubbock, a collaboration with country singer Jimmie Dale Gilmore. He has, however, got a new band called The Third Mind, who are releasing a 6-song self-titled debut with 5 covers and 1 original on Valentine’s Day. Saturday, look forward to a mix of solo material, band material, and covers.

Louisiana singer-songwriter Kevin Gordon’s last record was 2018′s Tilt and Shine. In previewing a set a couple years ago at SPACE, we wrote that it was “an album about his vision of Louisiana through and through. The tracks are musically referential to the region; take the blues stomp of 'Fire at the End of the World' or the buzzing, organ-fueled country of 'Saint on a Chain'. And in lieu of fetishizing a Southern mythology, Gordon’s stories are rooted in everyday life or people’s perceptions of it, from prisoner rodeos to deals with the Devil.”

1/25: CHAI, Empty Bottle

We covered Japanese quartet CHAI’s set at Pitchfork Music Festival last year (they’re still touring their excellent 2019 album PUNK):

“CHAI believes you can be Kawaii while still subverting standard definitions of beauty and femininity. Or really, they argue that there’s no such thing as the 'standard.' They exist somewhere between individualism–arguing that you’re a 'Fashionista' as long as you’re dressing the way you dress–and collectivism, donning a band uniform of an orange top and pink pants with white stripes, tightly harmonizing and chanting with equal pitch. That dichotomy in and of itself is unique, especially in Japanese culture. They call it PUNK, their terrific second album. From freedom anthem 'CHOOSE GO!' to the propulsive beats of 'THIS IS CHAI', the band’s instrumental variation (the funk of 'FAMILY MEMBER', banging dance of “Curly Adventure”) is always tied together by the four women and the spirit each of them brings to the performance combined with the sum of parts that the band CHAI represents. And their radicalism is present in songs like 'GREAT JOB', a reclamation of housework as therapeutic, but it’s never so strong as when they shout their simple proclamation: ‘We are CHAI!'”

Bunny, the dream pop/bedroom rock project led by local musician Jessica Viscius and Sports Boyfriend, the indie pop project of local musician Eileen Peltier, open.

1/25: GZA, Concord Music Hall

Wu-Tang clan member GZA performs his classic sophomore album Liquid Swords with a live band. Any non-Liquid Swords tracks he might perform include other solo material, Wu-Tang clan verses, or even snippets from other Wu-Tang members.

Wu-Tang Clan affiliate Killah Priest, local rapper Femdot, and local remix masters Altered Tapes open.

1/26: John Cale, Art Institute of Chicago

Andy Warhol and the Velvet Underground are forever entwined, and because of that, I can’t think of someone more appropriate to celebrate the Art Institute’s current major Warhol retrospective than Velvets member John Cale. Expect, however, to hear mostly solo material.

1/28: Whitney, SPACE

Though not quite as strong as 2016′s Light Upon The Lake, Whitney’s most recent album Forever Turned Around does manage to reflect inward and distinguish itself that way from the band’s breakout debut, as we wrote in our preview of their Thalia Hall show last month. Here’s your chance to see them in a venue as small as SPACE while they continue to ascend.

Japanese quartet CHAI (mentioned above) opens.

1/29-1/30: Calexico & Iron & Wine, Thalia Hall

In 2005, Calexico & Iron & Wine were hot shit. The former, prolific as ever, were 2 years removed from their most acclaimed album yet, Feast of Wire, whereas Iron & Wine had released two beloved LPs and an EP. The prospect of a collaborative EP between the two was something to behold, and they lived up to the hype with In the Reins. Fifteen years later, neither act is as trendy, and they aren’t necessarily the critical darlings they once were, but they’re finally touring together to celebrate the unlikely release of their first collaborative LP, last year’s Years to Burn. They should play collaborative songs, and perhaps more excitingly, drawn-out highlights from their respective careers, plus some covers.

Local singer-songwriter Gia Margaret opens Wednesday. Singer-songwriter Madison Cunningham opens Thursday.
