Halour, I'm kinda curious... What crimes have Cale done, exactly? I see a number of "crime list" videos about him but the wiki don't really confirm anythingđ
â đ
...The Time Has Come. đ
I have long promised this list, so perfect timing! Thank you very much for this question! Allow me to introduce you to:
Cale Henituse's Crime List
(Just for the fun of it, I tried to give a different example for every single one of these. Some events repeat, but not the crimes!)
1) Accessibility of Records for Tax Department
Cale looted significant amounts of money from the Magic Tower and many other places, without leaving any legal trace.
2) Affray
Multiple occasions, like pretty much everything that happened in the Molden Kingdom.
3) Aggravated Assault
Cale rarely gets physically involved in a fight, but I think suddenly strangling Prince Adin qualifies.
4) Aggravated Burglary
Every single time "Real Arm" is in business.
5) Allowing Dog or Cat To Be a Nuisance
How else would you call encouraging your animal shape-shifting kids to be involved in criminal activity? Also Fluffy the Puppy was under Cale's command even if he technically belonged to Princess Jopis, I say it totally counts.
6) Ammunition â Possessing, Acquiring or Carrying
Cale intentionally pocketed magic bombs from the Plaza Terror Incident and used them later on.
7) Animal Cruelty
...Does Cale subjecting On to his "nice act" in front of Litana counts? Oh it definitely counts. That poor child.
8) Armed Robbery
That time Cale & co. robbed the Mercenary Guilds in Leeb-An City, for instance.
9) Arson
Setting the Wind Island on fire.
10) Assaulting or Resisting Police
That time Cale & co. went to Sez Kingdom. Pretty sure the knights trying to stop them from kidnapping the king counts as "resisting law enforcement".
11) Being Disguised With Unlawful Intent
Priest Cale in a nutshell.
12) Blackmail
That time Cale talked to Antonio Gyerre.
13) Breaking and Entering
Cale coming to the Sekka Estate.
14) Careless Driving
Debatable since a fantasy world doesn't own cars â but. I count Cale breaking through walls of a maze on a mother-effing Stone Imugi as "irresponsible driving". Just think of what kind of example you're setting for the kids, Cale!
15) Carrying a Loaded Firearm in Public
Cale has Raon following him everywhere, so.....?
16) Carrying Out Plumbing Work Without License or Registration
Cale has an underground villa in the Forest of Darkness. I'm pretty sure whatever construction work they did there would count as illegal.
17) Carrying Out Work Without a Building Permit
Cale had Dragons teleport an entire castle into the Forest of Darkness. Yet again, involves a building with no legal paperwork.
18) Causing Injury Intentionally
Obviously. Like making fiery lightning bolt strike in the middle of an Elf Village attack. Or hitting a radish with a rock.
19) Collecting or Making Documents Likely to Facilitate Terrorist Acts
Everything involving Knight Rex after he became a terrorist.
20) Conspiracy
Cale and Alberu talking about anything.
21) Control of Body Armor
After reading it up, I decided that mana disruption device ABSOLUTELY falls into this category.
22) Control and Use of Dangerous Articles
Cale adopting pretty much everyone on his team.
23) Corrupting Benefits Received By Commonwealth Public Official
Cale using Alberu's golden plaque to trap the White Star with Embrace. I mean, if being infected with that clown doesn't count as corruption, I don't know what does.
24) Cultivation of Narcotic Plants
Cale letting Hong eat plants in the Forest of Darkness. It IS, in his own words, his own backyard.
25) Dangerous Non-Guard Dog Attacks or Bites a Person or Animal with Person in Control
Cale letting Choi Han beat up Adin. ...Well, Choi Han COULD be counted as a Guard Dog, but. They never formalized the paperwork? I say it counts since Choi Han isn't legally registered!
26) Dealing With Property Suspected of Being Proceeds of Crime
Cale renting a house from Odeus Flynn.
27) Dealing With Property Which Subsequently Becomes an Instrument of Crime
Cale buying the Magic Tower before he proceeds to kidnap Mueller.
28) Delaying the Entry of Police
Cale not letting the law enforcement know about the Plaza Terror Incident beforehand. Also, activating the mana disruption device, knowing it would hinder their efforts to stop terrorism. ...Yes Cale & co. prevented said terrorism better on their own but it still counts.
29) Deliberately Omitting Information
Cale making an Vow of Death to Choi Han claiming that he can't tell him anything.
30) Destroying, Damaging and/or Interfering with Any Works of a Water Corporation
Setting the Lake of God's Tears on fire.

40) Entering a Place Without Authority or Lawful Excuse

41) Extortion With Threats to Destroy Property
Cale threatening the slave traffickers in the Gyerre territory.
42) Failure to Notify the Authorities of Criminal Activity
Cale doesn't notify Alberu of crap, unless it's to make him clean-up the aftermath.
43) Failure to Register a Pet
Pretty sure Cale registered exactly none of his allies. ...Except maybe the Tiger Tribe that one time they moved into Harris Village with Deruth's permission. Everyone else? Not a chance.
44) Falsifying or Concealing Identity
Cale acting as Naru von Ejellan in Endable Kingdom.
45) Forgery of Documents
Cale and Taylor faking an ancient document to fool the White Star.
46) Fraud

Infinite list of favourite lyrics: 222/?
John Cale - Dying on the Vine (1985)
"Who could sleep through all that noisy chatter?
The troops, the celebrations in the sun.
The authorities say my papers are all in order
And if I wasn't such a coward
I would run.
I'll see you when all the shooting's over;
Meet me on the other side of town.
Yes, you can bring all your friends along for protection,
It's always nice to have them hanging around.
I was thinking about my mother,
I was thinking about what's mine.
I was living my life like a Hollywood,
But I was dying, dying on the vine."
#favourite lyrics#john cale#dying on the vine#larry sloman#1985#artificial intelligence#coming at a time of intense productivity (recording three albums in a little over a yearâ as well as producing work by former bandmate Nico#and others) as well as professional frustrationâ as his sparse experimental work failed to gain a popular audienceâ Artificial Intelligence#was a sort of last stab at commercial releasing for Cale; returning to a more accessible pop sound characterised by drum machines and synth#overlaysâ Cale worked with a cowriterâ Slomanâ to produce typically avant garde music within a more radio friendly framework#the result wasn't particularly successfulâ and afaik this first single from the album didn't even chart here in the uk#a pityâ because I'd count it among his very best works (and I'm not alone; the song has had a slow reappraisal and is now generally#considered one of his finest of this era). a despondentâ gloomy study of one man's annihilationâ draped in several layers of allegory;#the vine can be read as a fairly literal metaphor (fruit left too long without harvest spoiling)â or as a reference to his then home on the#intersection between hollywood blvd and vine street in LAâ a then rundown area rife with drug abuse and criminal activity; or as a nod to#Cale's struggles with alcoholism in this period (as well as a cocaine habit; his daughter was born soon after the release of this albumâ as#a result of which he retreated from the music business for a while and kicked his addictions).#some have pointed to the quoted verseâ apparently about an authoritarian stateâ as being inspired by Cale's love of the literature of#Graham Greeneâ and there are some other parallels earlier in the song; mostly tho this is about a moment of crisisâ of Cale at rock bottom#surveying where he was at in his life at that point and realising he needs to change (just as possible to read the authoritarian state as#every day lifeâ with the troops regular people living their noisy lives around him and Cale's temptation to 'run' as a metaphor for suicide#who knows. whatever he's sayingâ there's an awfulâ beautiful melancholy to the near lilt in his voice as he ponders 'I was thinking#about my mother..' an incredible work from an under appreciated artist whoâ happilyâ beat his demons and stayed sober

One of my favorite running gags (or I donât know if Yoo Ryeo Han just does that unintentionally) in TCF is the way Cale just casually drops truth bombs on Alberu like thereâs no tomorrow.
Poor Alberu has to suffer so many times because his gremlin of a dongsaeng has absolutely no filter. Of course he doesnât just do this with Alberu, he does this with everyone but most of the time is with Alberu.
Example 1: Cale telling Alberu he knows about his dark elf blood
Cale: Your highness have this dead mana that I found in my back yard so I can gain things from you
Alberu: *profoundly sweating* Why would I need dead mana
Cale: Dude I know youâre a half dark elf and honestly I donât care just want you to give me cash in exchange of my services
Alberu:âŠâŠitâs actually a quarter
Example 2: The dragonâs first growth phase
Alberu: Cale youâve been in your tent for too long. Did something something happen?
Cale: your highness I have a dragon son who is going through a growth phase. The gorgeous knight I bring with me sometimes is an ancient dragon. Also in approximately T-minus 7 days Iâm going to explode from the inside out out. So we kinda need to go fix this
Alberu: âŠâŠI didnât sign up for any of this shit
Example 3: GoD letter
Alberu: Cale what did the letter say
Cale: *trying his hardest to hide the countdown* Oh you know, just that I was supposed to die nothing major.
Alberu: I cannot stress this enough, what is wrong with you!
Example 4: The Sun Godâs message
Alberu: So I fear that I will never be fit to be king because of this prophecy thatâs discriminating my race
Cale: Hyung your ancestor was a criminal!
Alberu: WHAT THE LEGITIMATE FUC-
Example 5: Finding out about Kim Rok Soo and Choi Han
Cale: The kids are doing well right?
Dark tiger Alberu: Yeah donât worry theyâre doing ok with Ron
Cale: Ok than. Btw Iâm a 36 year old transmigrated who possessed the body of Cale Henituse 2 years ago and Choi Han is my best friendâs second uncle meaning heâs old as fuck and was sent to your world.
Choi Han: *smiling innocently*
Datk tiger Alberu: âŠâŠOne of these days youâre going to make me walk down the path of alcoholism
And these arenât all of them. There was the part with Record in the Mercenaryâs Guild directory, and some shit about Adin. And a whole lot more. But I donât really remember most of them. I really need to reread the novel.
At least Alberu got his revenge when he unexpectedly made Cale his sworn brother. That was probably so satisfying for him

Out this Friday, July 2: @tompettyofficial - Angel Dream (Songs From The Motion Picture She's The One) [CD/LP] (@warnermusic). Free post card set w/ purchase at the shop while supplies last. Angel Dream is a special reimagining of the album Sheâs The One to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its original release. This also brings to a close the celebration of Tom Pettyâs masterpiece Wildflowers, as most of the songs on this album were recorded during the same time period. Sheâs The One included some songs that were left off the original Wildflowers album, recently included in the Wildflowers & All The Rest re-issue. To take the place of those songs, four previously unreleased songs have been added here â two Petty originals (â105 Degreesâ and âOne of Lifeâs Little Mysteriesâ), a cover of JJ Caleâs âThirteen Daysâ, and the instrumental âFrench Disconnectionâ. An extended version of âSupernatural Radioâ is also included. The album has been remixed & remastered and brand new cover art commissioned â emphasizing that this is a Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers album, rather than a soundtrack album. #tompetty #tompettyandtheheartbreakers (at Criminal Records Atlanta) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQtkEtFhiqz/?utm_medium=tumblr

@deranwaltderteufelâÂ
he admires the large house from the bottom of the steps, head tilted and brows furrowed as he takes it all in. the man heâs come to see, Cale Erendreich, is a name that feels familiar on his tongue and yet he canât quite place where heâs heard it before. of course, the name and face are in systems -- heâs able to access the criminal record checks when he sweet talks the right people, but no matter how much he searched, he simply could not piece it together. Erendreich didnât fit the profile -- not entirely. but there was a nagging at the back of his head ; a little voice that told him to go investigate further anyway, even if the police had already spoken with him.
Malcolm was nothing if not thorough.
pulling in a breath, the young man makes his way up the steps with difficulty. thereâs nothing familiar about this particular luxury home, but there was still a weight on him that dragged his Louis Vuitton clad feet up the steps -- careful not to scuff them! -- and to the front door. exhaling his breath in a deep sigh, Malcolm raps on the door quickly, ducking his head and peeking through the glass of the door curiously. he picks up on a couple things immediately -- his organizing was impeccable. his place may as well have been his motherâs, it was so clean and tidy and minimalistic --
the sight of the man making his way toward the door causes Malcolmâs blood to run ice cold -- but the worst part was the fact he didnât know why he was feeling this way. it wasnât the same feeling he got when he profiled. it wasnât the same feeling he got when he thought about his father, or spoke about his father. he hadnât felt like this in a while ; not while waking, anyhow. if he recalls, he feels this way sometimes when he wakes from night terrors. a very foreboding nervousness. Malcolm flashes a small smile anyway when the door is finally opened, and he clears his throat before offering a tip of his head in polite acknowledgement.
â Cale Erendreich? Malcolm Bright, NYPD. Is it a bad time to ask you a few questions? I promise it wonât take much of your time. â
#deranwaltderteufel#despite all my rage ; i am still just a rat in a cage   /   war horse verse.#( here we go! )#( hope it's okay! )

Stories Worth Telling
SUMMARY:Â Jackie only said yes to this interview in hopes of getting people to hate him less.
TW - VERY BRIEF MENTION OF PEDOPHILIA
Jackieâs nervous. He hopes to any higher being that may hear this that he doesnât look as anxious as he feels. When people see him from afar they see someone calm and collected, a joke or witty comment at the ready. He prays this interview doesnât reveal what a dorky mess he actually is to the public.
He watches with vague interest as the reporter heâd saved a week agoâDannyâgot ready. A notebook was pulled out of her bag, pencil pulled from behind her ear, phone opened to the voice memo app and set on the table between themâŠ. It seems like she really thought this whole thing through huh. Maybe she knew he'd say yes.
He fidgeted uncomfortably. He'd never done this sort of thing before. Heâs talked to few people for extended amounts of time as Jackieboy Man and that was to calm a few victims, most being childrenâthis is a journalist. The voice in his mind told him he'd mess this all up and make even more people hate him. Oddly enough, that thought is scarier than some criminals he's fought.
The phone sitting on the table, ready to record their whole conversation is more like a viper than a phone at this point. It stares at him like itâs waiting for him to fuck up once.
âAlrighty then looks like we're nearly ready!â Danny chirped happily. âIâm going to start recording our conversationâif that's okay with you,â she said, shooting him a questioning glance.
Against his better judgement, he swallowed and nodded nervously.
She tapped the screen and suddenly the interview had begun.
âSo Jackieboy Manâcan I call you Jackie?â
He nodded before catching his mistake. âErr yeah. Go for it.â
âGreat,â she said absentmindedly, flipping through her small notebook. âFirst off: whyâd you agree to this interview? Youâve shied away from reporters before.â
His mind blanked and heâs left struggling to pick out coherent thoughts. âUh, well, I was kinda hoping this would clear up some questions people might have about me? I dunno, make them hate me less? And you seem less demanding and invasive than the other ones whoâve asked.â
She hummed, glancing up at him with a soft smile as she scribbled something down and flipped back a few pages. âWhat makes you think people hate you?â
He scoffed. âOh please, Iâve seen the looks I get. And I can hear all the rumors.â
Someone started something saying heâs a leader of some new gang or something. While itâs kinda amusing, it hurts his fragile reputation of being the new hero in the city. Enough people didnât trust him as it was and he didnât need some stupid rumor messing things up even worse than they already were.
âWell, what youâre doing is illegal,â she pointed out dryly, giving him a look that heâs all too familiar with. Stay in your lane; itâs not your job. That look always pissed him off.
Jackie couldnât help but bark a sardonic laugh, leaning back in his chair and closing his eyes. âYeah, well, the cops arenât doing shit, so Iâm steppinâ up instead.â
Perhaps he shouldnât have said that because now her interest is peaked. Her hazel eyes were glittering in excitement as she leaned forward.
âAh, Iâm sorry; that was uncalled for-â
âNo, no,â she said eagerly. âGo ahead. Whatâre your opinions on the cops?â
Relax, Jay; this is an interview. Itâs all about you. Youâre not gonna get in trouble⊠yet.
âWell, I donât really needta tell anybody how corrupt this cityâs justice system is. All I see when I turn on the news is about how some cop abused their power and arenât gettinâ charged blah blah blah.â Now that heâs clearly listening to himself, he realized how bitter and⊠sad he sounded.
âIt happens pretty often,â Danny noted, pencil scratching against paper.
âChrist, itâs like this happens every few weeks!â He complained, running a hand down his face and over his mask. âItâs stupid! I mean, itâs not hard to be a good person!â
âIs that why youâre doing this?â She cut in. âBecause of all the corruption?â
âWell, yeah, why else would I be doinâ all this shit?â He asked. âI have a job and stuff to do. Why would I want to be doinâ something I donât needta be doinâ?â
âPeople can argue that you donât have the right to do that. Thereâs law enforcement after all.â
âTechnically we just talked about why we canât trust the cops but Iâll humor you. Ya canât just sit around, twiddling your thumbs while you wait for someone to stop the people everyone put in power cuz nobodyâs gonna stop them. Sometimes ya have to step up and be karma.â
âThatâs⊠thatâs quite the statement. Very raw.â
Jackie hummed.
Silence fell for a minute until Danny spoke again. âA while ago, one of my coworkers caught a video of you stumbling into an alley after a gunfight between two gangs when she arrived on the scene. Did you get hurt?â
Shrugging helplessly, he glanced down at the ground. âMaybe.â
âDo you⊠do you get hurt often?â She asked. To Jackieâs disbelief, he heard genuine concern in her voice.
âI mean, yeah⊠not too often for bad injuries but normally scrapes and bruises here and there every night.â He chuckled. âMost the minor ones are my fault anyways. Iâm not exactly graceful.â
More writing.
âArenât you scared?â She asked.
âOf what?â
âGetting hurt.â
âOh, nah, not really,â he said dismissively. âWhat happens happens. I just brush it off and keep going.â
âDo your family and friends know youâre doing this?â She asked.
He blinked. âWhat?â
She repeated the question.
âUhâno. I donât have any family or friends.â It slipped out before he could stop it.
The look he received was of pure pity. He hated it.
Danny tapped her pencil against the edge of the table, watching as his leg bounced up and down.
âSo⊠tell me about your spray painting.â
âUhm, what dâya wanna know?â His brows furrowed. Of all the things she couldâve asked, she asked about that?
She hummed. âWell, whatâs with all the messages? You have some pretty meaningful ones plastered across the walls.â
Trying to recall any only resulted in a jumble of memories. All he could really remember is the fumes of paint and the dark shielding him from prying eyes.
âWhich ones? Iâve done a lot.â
She flipped through her notes again and pulled out a few pictures stuck between some pages. A bright green eyeball with the optic nerve hanging down with a blue iris and a black pupil was present in every picture but...
Danny spoke before he could examine them of them close enough. ââDonât tell me what you want to be; tell me what you want to do.ââ
He shrugged. âItâs always what dâya wanna be when you grow up. I think what youâre gonna do is much more important.â
She furrowed her brows while nodding before moving onto the next one.
ââRespect existence or expect resistance,ââ she read aloud.
âI think thatâs pretty self explanatory.â
She gave him a patient smile. âTell me anyway.â
Jackie sighed heavily. âPeople donât respect one another and then suddenly everyone is surprised when others start to say something about it or try to do something. Itâs hypocritical.â
Once he made it clear he wasnât going any further, she continued down the line. ââSmile because youâre loved.ââ
That one made him smile slightly. Itâs one of his favorites. âI think reminders are nice. People always have someone who cares, even if they donât think so.â
She stared at him for a moment before smiling gently. âThatâs a nice message.â
âYeah, I wish people told each other more often.â
ââStop being silent.ââ She tapped the mute button drawn next to the phrase.
He stared her in the eyes. âCitizens have power. Theyâre just not using it. Theyâre trying to scare us into silence and itâs working. We need to do something.
ââHow many have to die?ââ She turned the paper towards herself and rattled off, ââCharlie Unger, Hailey Davis, Michael Crow, Thomas Marsh, Cale Sanders, Macy Parish, Gail SullivanâŠâ and thereâs many more. These are names of protesters.â
âAnd people who the cops killed,â Jackie added steelily.
âWhy those names?â
âPeople have argued whether some of these people were âgoodâ or not, but hereâs the thing: most of them were children. I know Macy was 16 and the others were mainly older highschool or college students. You can say they were adults but they were still in school. They had things theyâll never get to do now, and theyâre not getting their justice. It isnât fair.â
Dannyâs silent as she slid the picture back into her bag. She turned her attention on the next one. ââDivided we stand, united we fall.â This is pretty similar to the American motto.â
âMmm itâs switched around.â
âWhy this one? Are you bashing America?â
âNope,â he said, popping the p. âIâm bashing this city. We all have our differences, opinions, and stories, and we let those define us. But when we fall down, we fall together. We have the same fate eventually. We stand divided but we fall united.â
She hummed again (she did that a lot). âWhat about this one? âAlways watching?ââ
âI donât remember doing that one.â
Danny frowned. âIt has your calling card by it. Or, at least, what looks like it.â
He frowned, turning the picture to face him. The words were jagged and sloppy with little care for how it appeared. But the eye by the words was⊠wrong. It was black with a combined neon green iris and pupil. It looked⊠ominous.
âThatâs not mine,â he said. He picked it up, trying to figure out where this was. âDo you know where this is?â
She reached over and plucked the photo out of his hand and flipped it over.
In scrawling letters it read: 65830 Detroit Boulevard
Drumming his fingers on his leg, he hummed.
âCan I, ah, take a picture of this?â He asked, flipping it back over and staring at the cryptic words.
âGo ahead.â
Pulling his phone out of his pocket, he snapped a picture of the graffiti. He copied the address into the notes app before turning it off and putting it away. He slid the photo back to her so she could shuffle them back into her notebook.
She cleared her throat after a minute and continued. âYour latest stunt caused some controversy. People say you have no right to reveal peopleâs personal information like you did.â
âIâd say those rights are forfeited when youâre caught doinâ illegal things.â
âSo it can be argued that your rights are forfeited as well?â She pointed out, jabbing her pencil at him.
He shrugged again. âI mean, yeah, sure.â
The answer mustâve let Danny down. âYouâre pretty nonchalant about all this.â
He smiled. âWell, at least I know where my morals lie. Iâm happy to say Iâm not on the deep web watching little kids like McCallister was.â
At the mention of that, she became uncomfortable. âWhyâd you reveal that information to the public?â
Jackie grinned. âBecause he couldnât be left off the hook with the whole city angry, no matter how corrupt the cops are. Even if he escapes criminal chargesâwhich I doubtâpeopleâll throw him outta office. You have ta get peopleâs attention for them to listen.â
âI⊠I think thatâs enough for nowâŠâ She said weakly.
âOh? Am I free to go?â He asked.
She shoved her notebook into her bag and picked up her phone. âSure, just give me some contact info, so I can get in touch to ask follow up questions.â It sounded like she didnât realize what sheâs saying. Contact info from a hero? Psssh.
He laughed as he made his way to the open window. âNah, youâll see me around. Just holler.â
âHey! Wait!â She sputtered.
Itâs too lateâheâd already swung his legs over the windowsill and dropped down onto the fire escape.
Danny rushed to the window and peered out, watching him vault over the railing and drop into the darkness of the alleyway. She sighed, phone clutched in her hand. She looked at the new recording named by the date and time. âOh well, at least I have this.â
This would be the biggest story since Jackieâs appearanceâmaybe even bigger! She could feel it.
(A/N) IâVE WORKED ON THIS FORÂ D A Y SÂ AND ITâS FINALLY DONE!!!

OMG I can't believe how relatable to you lot do I feel rn. Everything from LSH and CJS being alive to how flawed the novel has become. I agree with every little single detail in all these reblogs.
I would like to add another point about how GOD character is described as. Let me be honest. It's the Shittiest description ever. So the reason why KRS was chosen bc GOD has favorites wtf? and the reason why KRS is his favorite is bc he has suffered a lot am i right. So fuck all the people who are homeless or the kids who died at a young age bc of a disease or patients with mental disorders. People with criminal records or other orphans even. Lets see it this way. Yes KRS has suffered tragedy. First his parents died and then he was abused by his uncle. He was bullied because he was inexperienced and lived a pretty average life. Yes all of this is the worst I would never want our baby to go through this again. But out of the billions and billions of people on Earth. Is KRS the only one going through this ? No.
plus who the fuck makes their favorite do all the work in an unknown world. And Before KRS there were several other people who had to move to a different body because of the WS. I mean the dude reincarnated for 1000 fucking years. So didn't those people go through the same thing bc of the WS curse? What about them. How come they aren't his fav why is it KRS. The author shoudn't have descried GOD as some kind of simp. If this is the lore you have come up for GOD then just take it back please. It litreally doesn't makes sense.
It's as if she put herself in the GOD. From simping to Basically hogging KRS's personal space.
I was just fine with knowing his appearance. THAT . IS . ALL. I didnt wanted to know how he literally parted the sea like Moses for KRS to live a happy life.
And I agree this whole Universe exploration is the most alerting thing I have ever read in this novel. I loved TCF for the way it was before not bc of this nonsense. AND WHY THE FUCK ARE CJS AND LHS ARE ALIVE ??????
Also if you guys don't know I love OG Cale. And when the SS were announced I thought Finally I would get some lore on that guy. Then the SS of OG Cale was released. I was basically Gloating. My amount of excitement knew no bounds.
Then I read that chapter. AND WTF DO I SEE. LITTLE TO NO DESCRIPTION OF HIM OR HIS PAST LIFE. THE ONLY THING I GET THAT HE IS ELEGANT. YEAH? NO SHIT SHERLOCK! NO WAY COULD I HAVE GUESSED THAT.
These, and the reason mentioned in the other reblogs below is the reason why I stopped reading tcf. Thank you for letting me rant.
yknow for as much as i love trash of the counts family (and i do love it, binged it in a crazed frenzy when it was in the early 700 chapters) as the story went on i kept getting the feeling that the author was just artificially stretching things out. not for everything, i actually love the depth there is to white star as a villain and how difficult even part of his forces are to touch, itâs realistic and speaks to the eons white star has lived. but then in the last bits of the story they start introducing shit with caleâs mom and âhuntersâ or whatever??? when thereâs literally no reason to, completely uneccessary. I realize that its things that are apparently going to be expanded on in part 2 (which i have sworn off from starting) but still white star for all purposes was the one and only final villain of this story, and you go and introduce a whole other system in the final portions of this story?
this isnât even talking about how the author lets character and plot threads dip in and out in a very inconsistent way that personally leaves me annoyed. i understand that tcf is not so much a character driven novel as it is a plot driven novel, very few characters have arcs that are interconnected for more than one major event. raon and choi han are the only exceptions to this in my opinion, besides for cale bc duh, but even then like raonâs attribute was introduced around chapter 250, so why the hell has it not come up in any meaningful way by chapter 700? thats nearly 500 whole entire chapters. or we could talk about the kittens, who we only learn the true context within the latter 200 chapters of the novel despite having been one of caleâs earliest companions?
idk for as much as trash count does good thereâs this undercurrent of confusion and overcrowdedness (anyone remember the one cat beastman who they put in charge of a kingdom, claimed that they would have to help extensively, and then is barely mentioned afterwards? that time where cale foreshadows the ominous twist in his promise to tell choi han about the identity of the organization that never comes up again? etc. etc.) iâm not trying to necessarily pick a fight with anyone iâm just looking for a place to vent my personal frustrations with it
#lets become open these flaws tcf#not everyone has positive reviews#if i dont like sm i dont like it#deal with it#the GOD is the author#litreally#tcf#og cale#original cale henituse#trash of the count&#our team leader is trash#trash of the duke's family#trash of the counts family

Family of jailed Saudi activist al-Hathloul to appeal sentencing | Human Rights News
The family of prominent human rights activist Loujain al-Hathloul will appeal her prison sentence but expressed little hope in the Saudi judicial system, calling the trial a âshamâ and âpolitically motivatedâ.
On Monday, a Saudi court sentenced al-Hathloul to five years and eight months in prison on terrorism-related charges and banned her from leaving the country for five years, sparking a torrent of international criticism.
Al-Hathloul, 31, was arrested in May 2018 with about a dozen other womenâs rights activists just weeks before the historic lifting of a decades-long ban on female drivers, a reform they had long campaigned for.
âThe moment saw the verdict, she started crying because⊠she had been labelled as a terrorist,â her brother Walid al-Hathloul told AFP news agency.
âWe are going to be appealing the verdict even though donât have any hope from the Saudi judicial system.â
Loujain cried when she heard the sentence today. After nearly 3 years of arbitrary detention, torture, solitary confinement â they now sentence her and label her a terrorist. Loujain will appeal the sentence and ask for another investigation regarding torture #FreeLoujain https://t.co/E4msesGqjH
â Lina Alhathloul ÙÙÙۧ ۧÙÙŰ°ÙÙÙ (@LinaAlhathloul) December 28, 2020
The Geneva-based UN Human Rights office described al-Hathloulâs conviction and sentence as âdeeply troublingâ after she was âarbitrarilyâ detained.
âWe understand early release is possible, and strongly encourage it as matter of urgency,â the organisation said on Twitter.
#SaudiArabia: Conviction and 5yrs 8 month sentence handed down to prominent womenâs rights campaigner #LoujainAlHathloul, already arbitrarily detained for 2 Âœ years, is also deeply troubling. We understand early release is possible, and strongly encourage it as matter of urgency.
â UN Human Rights (@UNHumanRights) December 28, 2020
Franceâs foreign ministry said it reiterated its call for her âquick releaseâ, a view echoed by Germanyâs human rights commissioner Barbel Kofler.
âSaudi Arabiaâs sentencing of Loujain al-Hathloul for simply exercising her universal rights is unjust and troubling,â tweeted Jake Sullivan, the national security adviser in the incoming administration of US President-elect Joe Biden.
The current US administration of Donald Trump was more subdued, with deputy Department of State spokesman, Cale Brown, tweeting that the US was âconcernedâ, adding that âwe look forward to her anticipated early release in 2021â.
Anti-terrorism court
After being tried in Riyadhâs criminal court, al-Hathloulâs trial was transferred last month to the Specialised Criminal Court, or the âanti-terrorism courtâ, which campaigners say is used to silence critical voices under the cover of fighting âterrorismâ.
She was convicted of cooperating with entities criminalised by the kingdomâs anti-terrorism law, inciting regime change and seeking to disrupt public order.
The court suspended two years and 10 months of the sentence âif she committed no crimeâ within the next three years, the pro-government online outlet Sabq and other media allowed to attend her trial cited the court as saying on Monday.
A motion to appeal can also be filed within a month by the public prosecutor, who Hathloulâs family said sought a 20-year jail term for her.
Another detained woman activist, Maya al-Zahrani, was given an identical sentence for a similar list of charges, local media reported.
Sexual harassment and torture
Earlier this month, the kingdomâs Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan told AFP that Hathloul was accused of contacting âunfriendlyâ states and providing classified information, but her family said no evidence to support the allegations had been put forward.
While some detained women activists were provisionally released, al-Hathloul and others remained imprisoned on what rights groups describe as opaque charges.
Pro-government Saudi media branded them as âtraitorsâ and al-Hathloulâs family alleges she experienced sexual harassment and torture in detention.
The Saudi court recently dismissed those allegations.
The detention of women activists has cast a renewed spotlight on the human rights record of the kingdom, an absolute monarchy which has also faced intense criticism over the 2018 murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in its Istanbul consulate.

Anti-Westerns â Glass Bottom Boat Ride (Western Revisions)
Glass Bottom Boat Ride by Anti-Westerns
An anti-western film is a movie that has horses and sheriffs and even Indians, but definitely doesnât reinforce the moral code of the cowboy. Its hero is at least a non-conformist and often a criminal, and he (it is always a he) likely drinks more than is truly good for him. The Anti-Westerns, who are, essentially, Plates of Cake on a Johnny Cash bender, do their best to represent this anti-heroic aesthetic, celebrating beer and whiskey and hangovers, taking pot shots at piety and eating chicken with their greasy fingers. The band, led by Jonathan Byerley and including Zachary Cale, Joshua Carrafa, Jason McDaniel and several different drummers, is made up of Brooklyn-ites, but they are clearly having a good time with the slides and chugs and twangy two-steps of roadhouse country. You can imagine quite a load of bottles in the trash after these recording sessions, which our heroes likely hauled off to recycling, responsible city boys that they are.
The music is quite good, its indie underpinnings showing a bit through gleeful Americana flourishes. A lot of itâs in waltz time, the country-est of time signatures, but some of it hops and bops in 4/4, kicking up clouds of jangle and bluegrass picking in the intervals between verses. The guitar playing is particularly good, any why wouldnât it be, with three indie veterans (Byerley himself, Cale and Carrafa) taking turns gleefully cranking the twangs and slides on a busmanâs holiday. The bass is also elemental but effective, putting meat on the bones of these playful songs, which are not quite parodies but not entirely straight either.
Byerley sings in a mordant murmur, tossing off urbane asides about aging, love and drinking (often in combination), but he gets off his best lines when he tangles with religion. âI am the lamb who keeps Jesus employed,â he admits ruefully in the mostly acoustic âToothpaste and Gin,â and when a doctor tells him to cut back on the drinks and the smokes, he replies, âHey doc itâs fineâŠIâm older than Jesus was, so itâs all extra time.â The song, âExtra Time,â closes out the album in woozy, inebriated, group-sung exuberance; you sense an affinity among the band members for lyrics about trying to stay prodigal as middle age closes in.
Glass Bottom Boat Ride is good fun all the way through, even as it pokes at the scabs around getting older, drinking too much, rolling with the pains and pleasures of a long-term relationship and maybe not having set the world on fire the way youâd planned to. The highlight, though, dispatches with all those nagging discontents, puts down the brown liquor and celebrates the simple joys of eating. No one eats a chicken quite like Byerleyâs loved one, the song says, which is to say, without a fork or knife or napkin, and most likely cracking the bones to get the marrow out. âChicken Eating Bluesâ is a sing-along song, with a rowdy call and response, and though enthusiasms run high, for once, no one is getting blitzed. âDo we have any milk?â Byerley asks, near the end. Even if youâre not much into simple pleasures, youâll get a kick out of this.

Homeless in Japan, part 2: who they are
Last week I posted a video on homelessness in Japan. Part two just came out. In this video, Professor Tom Gill, a social anthropology professor at Meiji Gakuin University, who has lived in Japan for 25 years, describes the homeless population in Japan. They are overwhelmingly male, poorly educated, and grew up in rural areas. They came to Tokyo and other urban centers to work as day laborers during the bubble economy in the 1980s. When they can afford it, they live in cheap, pay-by-the-night rooms caled doya (ăă€, which is a play on a Japanese word for inn, yado, ă€ă). About 20% have a criminal record, which makes it hard to find work. Former yakuza (Japanese mafia) members have an especially hard time getting hired because it's easy to spot their missing finger joints and tattoos.
In recent years, Japan has stepped up efforts to assist the homeless, but as one program director explains, a lot of the homeless people don't think they are worthy of assistance so they don't seek it.
This video is from "Life Where I'm From," a Patreon-supported effort to create documentary videos about Japan and the World.

One moment that captures how much Britain has changed in the past 50 years was the death on Sunday, January 24, 1965, of perhaps the finest leader in our history.
âTonight, our nation mourns the loss of the greatest man any of us have ever known,â the then Prime Minister, Harold Wilson, told the British people that evening.
He was referring, of course, to Sir Winston Churchill, the man who had led Britain through the darkest hour in our history and onwards to victory.
And in the days that followed, more than 300,000 people waited patiently in the cold to pay their respects to their fallen hero.
President, Lyndon Johnson, failed to attend Churchillâs funeral.
Johnson was widely criticizedâhere and abroadâfor his failure to make the trip. Many in the British government saw it as a slight. And in some ways it represented a minor setback in American/Anglo relations at a crucial time in the Cold War.
For when you look back at Britain in 1965, it seems in so many ways an utterly different country, not just in its skylines, fashions and faces, but in its moral and cultural attitudes.
It was a country in which older men still wore hats and carried umbrellas; in which millions of children sat the 11-plus exam to decide whether they went to grammar school or to a secondary modern; in which pornography was almost unknown, most people did not even have a telephone, and thousands of working-class families still had outside toilets.
At the end of 1964, Wilsonâs Labour government had come to power, promising to build a new Britain in the âwhite heat of the scientific revolutionâ.
But the technological gadgets so familiar today would have struck the vast majority as the stuff of fantasy. Most had never even been on an aeroplane.
Indeed, if you want a symbol of how much Britain has changed in the past five decades, then just think about the difference between todayâs Premier League football stars â often foreign-born, living in gated communities and earning as much as ÂŁ300,000 a week â and by far the most feted player of the day, who hung up his boots on February 6, 1965.
Almost incredibly, Stanley Matthews was still turning out for Stoke City at the age of 50. He played not for money or attention, but for sheer love of the game.
As one friend put it, he remained âfor all his fame, as down-to-earth as the folk who once adorned the terraces in the hope of seeing him sparkle gold dust onto their harsh working livesâ.
To Matthews, who interrupted his career to serve in the RAF during World War II, the antics of todayâs spoiled Premier League superstars would have seemed inconceivable.
But he belonged to a generation that has vanished completely: reticent, dutiful and quietly conservative.
Like the death of Churchill, the retirement of Matthews â who was knighted in January 1965 as a reward for his extraordinary career â seemed to represent a threshold between old and new.
In sport, in culture, even in architecture, all the talk was of change.
Modernisation was all the rage, not least in the great cities of the North, where councils were competing to tear down the old Victorian streets and erect great high-rise monstrosities instead.
"On 19 April 1965, when Reggie Kray married Frances Elsie Shea⊠he had the event photographed by none other than the countryâs most famous snapper, David Bailey, who arrived at the church in a blue velvet suit with matching blue Rolls-Royce, for all the world like Cecil Beaton recording the Queenâs Coronation of 12 years earlier."
It was indeed a year when class structures crumbled, a new aristocracy came to the fore with working class lads like Bailey, The Beatles and Michael Caine at the forefront.
But it was in the cultural sphere that change was really accelerating. The Beatles with the LSD-influenced Rubber Soul were swapping straightforward love songs for an imaginative introspection and existentialism, Dylan was stretching the boundaries of the pop song with his bile-splattered narrative "Like A Rolling Stone", Bridget Riley was conquering New York with her pre-psychedelia psychedelic paintings, John Fowles produced his astonishing The Magus, Dennis Potter and Ken Loach took television drama to a new level, Edward Bondâs Saved, in which a baby is stoned, shocked the censors and the theatre-going public.
Above all it was the first year that the words pop and culture could be used together without attracting ridicule â except perhaps from the self-appointed champion of the old order, Mary Whitehouse.
The Ford Transit is a range of light commercial vehicles produced by Ford since 1965. Sold primarily as a cargo van, the Transit is also built as a passenger van (marketed as the Tourneo since 1995), minibus, cutaway van chassis, and as a pickup truck. Over 8,000,000 Transit vans have been sold, making it the third best-selling van of all time and have been produced across four basic platform generations (debuting in 1965, 1986, 2000, and 2013 respectively), with various "facelift" versions of each.

24 April â It took 30 years to organise a walk from one pub to another. But then the walk is The Pennine Way , and the distance between the pubs is 268 miles. The walk involves crossing more than 400 stiles, 200 bridges, and enough peat bogs and steep slopes to break an infrequent walkerâs weary heart. And for those who negotiated the passage over many private properties it also involved tricky talks with a multitude of sometimes less than keen landowners.
The traditional starting point for The Pennine Way is the Nagâs Head in Derbyshireâs Edale , the end point The Border Hotel in Kirk Yetholm just over the border into Scotland. The trail, Britainâs first National Trail, was the brainchild of writer and long time Ramblersâ Association secretary Tom Stephenson, first mooted to the general public in an article in The Daily Herald in 1935.
After much parliamentary lobbying, innumerable negotiations, and great preparations of signage and information, the official opening of the Pennine Way came on April 24 1965, witnessed by an estimated 2,000 enthusiasts gathered at the beautiful Malham Moor in Yorkshire . Between 3,000 and 4,000 walkers now complete the trail every year, no easy task given the tough terrain and unpredictable weather conditions at some of the stages even in summer â the walk even defeated the great Wainwright. Those who tramp all 268 miles certainly deserve their celebratory drink in the well chosen finishing point.
5 May â Alan Price leaves The Animals, to be replaced temporarily by Mick Gallagher and permanently by Dave Rowberry.
6 May â Keith Richards and Mick Jagger begin work on "Satisfaction" in their Clearwater, Florida hotel room. Richards came up with the classic guitar riff while playing around with his brand new Gibson "Fuzz box".
8 May â The British Commonwealth comes closer than it ever had, or would, to a clean sweep of the US Hot 100âs top 10, lacking only the #2 slot.
30 May â The Animals appear for a third time on The Ed Sullivan Show.
12 June â The Beatles are appointed Members of the British Empire (MBE) by the Queen. With no tradition of awarding popular entertainers such honours, a number of previous recipients complain and protest.
July â John Cale, with his new collaborators Lou Reed and Sterling Morrison, makes a demo tape which he tries to pass on to Marianne Faithfull. These are the beginnings of the Velvet Underground.
5 July â Maria Callas gives her last operatic performance, in the title role of Tosca, at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
8 July â A minor figure in the Great Train Robbery of 1963, Ronnie Biggs has nevertheless become the most famous name among those criminals who pulled off the most audacious robbery of the sixties .
There is a tendency to glamorize the Great Train Robbers, to turn them into Robin Hood figures. They carried out a robbery that cost the country ÂŁ2.6 million, the equivalent of maybe ÂŁ45 million today â most of the money was never recovered. The assistant train driver was thrown down a railway embankment, and the train driver coshed with an iron bar, never being fit to return to work before his premature death in 1970.
Biggs had been detailed to look after the train driver brought to move the hijacked engine and carriage to the place where the gang had left their vehicles. The driver could not work the train, so Biggs and he were sent to load money sacks. In spite of this Biggs received a 30-year sentence.
On July 8 1965 Biggs and three other men escaped from Wandsworth Prison in a carefully planned and well financed operation. A ladder was thrown over the prison wall at just after 3pm as the men exercised. A furniture van with a platform on top was outside the wall, to hold the ladder in place and make the descent from the top rapid and safe. Prison officers who tried to intervene as the men fled were held back by other prisoners in the yard.
Three cars were waiting for them (and as a shotgun was found afterwards in one of the cars it is reasonable to assume they were prepared to use violence).
Biggs along with his wife and sons managed to slip out of Britain to Paris, where he underwent plastic surgery to alter his appearance, and where he obtained false papers that allowed him in 1970 to move to Australia after spending some time in Spain.
In Australia, however, he was recognized, and forced to move before fleeing the country when the chase threatened him again.
Biggs spent more than three decades in Brazil, cocking a snook at the British authorities who were unable to extradite him. He was kidnapped in 1981 and taken out of Brazil, but had to be let go on a technicality.
Biggs returned to the UK in 2001, a sick man, partly to receive health treatment, partly because it seems he hoped to be allowed to go free. He was, however, arrested and returned to begin serving the remaining 28 years of his sentence.

13 July â The Beatles receive a record five Ivor Novello Awards.
4 August â Iain Hamiltonâs Cantos receives its world premiĂšre at The Proms, performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Norman Del Mar.
6 August â The Small Faces release "Whatcha Gonna Do About It", their first single.
The Beatles release the soundtrack to their second movie Help!
15 August â Just a couple of years earlier The Beatles were playing to audiences of a few dozen at some of their Cavern gigs in Liverpool ; on August 15 1965 55,600 fans crowded in to Shea Stadium, the home of baseball team the New York Mets, to hear the group play the first concert of their American tour. Or rather not hear them: with Beatlemania at its scariest (there were 2000 security personnel on hand, and the Fab Four arrived in an armoured truck), the band took the stage in the centre of the field to deafening screams; twelve songs later they left, the screams having drowned out what they had been playing. For the record the songs that night included: Act Naturally; Sheâs a Woman; and Twist and Shout. It mattered little to an army of women and girls determined to scream, cry, faint and worse.
With the band members unable to hear themselves in spite of using the massive stadium PA, the concert descended to the absurd, John Lennon at the end playing the keyboard with his elbows to demonstrate the futility of the exercise. Futile, but profitable: the concert grossed more than $300,000, and is seen as the genesis of Stadium Rock.
26 Aug â They were only four among a total of 189 receiving honours that day, but it was obvious who the photographers at the gates of Buckingham Palace wanted to capture arriving, and who the 4,000 or more screaming fans were there to see â The Beatles . They duly arrived in John Lennonâs Rolls in plenty of time for the 11am investiture, in spite of the fact that, according to John Lennon , they didnât believe in the institution of the royal family. Even inside the Palace they couldnât escape the fans, or parents of fans at any rate, having to sign autographs for others there on the day.
It was something of a shock in the sixties for pop stars to be so honoured, though now it is becoming commonplace â politicians love rubbing shoulders with their rock heroes, even if some of those shoulders must be decidedly arthritic by now. Harold Wilson knew a popular band wagon when he saw one, and jumped on, awarding The Fab Four MBEs â Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
Years later John Lennon, who returned his MBE in 1969 as a protest against Britainâs stance on Biafra and Vietnam, claimed they had smoked cannabis in the toilet at the palace, though George denied it. But when Lord Cobbold, the Lord Chamberlain, called out their names they stepped forward as instructed, bowed politely in the right places, exchanged a few words, and walked away backwards so as not to turn their backs to the Queen .
27 August â The Beatles visit Elvis Presley at his home in Bel-Air. It is the only time the band and the singer meet.
11 September â The Last Night of The Proms is conducted by Sir Malcolm Sargent, with Josephine Veasey as soloist for the traditional rendition of "Rule, Britannia.
30 September â Donovan appears on Shindig! in the U.S. and plays Buffy Sainte-Marieâs "Universal Soldier".
Much mimicked, but much loved too, Thunderbirds like Gerry Andersonâs other Supermarionation series (Stingray, Captain Scarlet et al) struck a chord with children as however brilliant the pupeteering it still seemed like toys saving the world. When you are eight you have little reason to think they canât.
Filmed somewhat incongruously in Slough , the series featured the American Tracy family of all-action heroes, led by father Jeff, one of the first men on the moon (as the series was set in 2065 not the best prediction ever). Every boy wanted to be Scott or Virgil; and hoped for a Thunderbird 1 Dinky Toy at Christmas.
The very first episode, for the record, was Trapped in the Sky, written by Gerry Anderson and his then wife Sylvia, who also voiced Lady Penelope. In the show the Hood sabotages a new super-aircraft, forcing the International Rescue team to come to its aid so he can steal their secrets. It was only kids in the ATV Midlands region who got to enjoy that first September 30 broadcast; London only joined the jerky-armed party on Christmas Day that year.
Mock the occasionally-visible strings as we do, the production values on the series were very high, various techies later poached to work on Star Wars for example. And each of the early episodes ran to 50 minutes, effectively a mini-movie.
Do we still love them? Y-y-y-yes M-Mr Tracy.
17 October â The Animals appear for a fourth time on The Ed Sullivan Show.
5 November â The Who release their iconic single "My Generation" in the UK. This song contains the famous line: "I hope I die before I get old"
8 Nov â In the mid- Sixties Britain was becoming more racially diverse. New arrivals to Britain and immigrants long established in the country shamefully often faced discrimination: signs on lodgings stating: âno blacksâ; people refused entry to certain pubs and shops because of their race; discourtesies and even assault in public places by those who resented the changing face of the nation. The 1965 Race Relations Act was an attempt by the Labour government, albeit a very weak attempt, to address this situation.
Discrimination, however, was made a civil not a criminal offence, partly because of arguments put forward by the Conservatives that race relations would be soured further were the legislation to be given teeth. And though discrimination âin places of public resortâ was outlawed, inexplicably shops and private boarding houses were excluded; so was discrimination in employment, and even local authority policy on renting property. The act, then, was very superficial. There are times when British compromise can be laudable; this was not one of them. The legislation was given greater range in 1968 and 1976.
The 1965 act did, however, set up the Race Relations Board, which came into operation the following year. It initially had very limited scope and powers, its remit monitoring and persuasion; but a seed had been sown.
3 December â The Beatles release their album Rubber Soul, along with the double A-sided single "Day Tripper / We Can Work It Out". George Harrisonâs performance on the sitar on the track "Norwegian Wood" leads to his becoming a pupil of Ravi Shankar.
The Who release their debut album My Generation.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=qN5zw04WxCc
Not bad for a debut album â presaging punk in songs like My Generation; heavy metal in The Ox; and blending blues and pop in Iâm a Man and The Kids Are Alright to create a sound that would stir a million Mods. Throw in a wonderful version of James Brownâs classic Please, Please, Please and it was definitely worth a listen. Pop-rock quickly followed some enjoyably energetic detours thanks to The Who. You can almost forgive them for Tommy later in their career.
Originally recorded in mono My Generation has been remixed in Stereo several times, but probably loses more than it gains in the process which seems about as logical as redoing the famous artwork with pictures of the band in later years (though Moon didnât have all that many).
Many critics would consider the album, at one time dismissed by the band as a bit of a rush job, as one of the most seminal in British rock history: Townshend âs raw guitar; Keith Moonâs manic drumming; John Entwistleâs backseat driving bass; and Roger Daltrey âs chameleon vocals all models for their generation and more besides â The Jam very indebted to their forerunners. After the LP was released every band probably still yearned for the success of the Beatles ; but most wanted to sound like the gods of Shepherdâs Bush , The Who.
13 Dec â The original format for Jackanory was elegant in its simplicity: an actor or occasionally a TV personality like Clement Freud or a figure from an entirely different world like Prince Charles reading a book out loud to children, with occasional illustrations shown on screen (often by Quentin Blake ). Magical.
It captivated children from toddlers through to their primary school years, becoming a fixed element of every weekday for millions of families, quarter of an hour of almost guaranteed peace for any adult looking after them: the insistent theme-tune â Jackanory Jackanory â acted like an off-switch for play, a signpost pointing towards bedtime.
Over the years â the original series came to an end in 1996 â some great names appeared as readers: Kenneth Williams perhaps the most frequent; Spike Milligan ; Bernard Cribbins; the genius that was Arthur Lowe ; Michael Hordern and Joyce Grenfell to list but a few of the finest.
The very first programme on December 13 1965 featured Lee Montague, an actor better known for his hard-man roles on TV and in films.
Naturally when the BBC revived the idea in 2006 it had to be tampered with â animation used, and multiple actors; and no fixed slot to give that blessed routine that makes life with children so much easier. Perhaps it takes imagination to believe in the power of imagination.
22 Dec â The day that must be etched on Jeremy Clarkson âs heart.
Just before Christmas 1965 Transport Minister Tom Fraser (not Barbara Castle, as many seem to think) introduced a 70mph limit for drivers on motorways, following several pile-ups in the foggy autumn and winter of that year, though another cause is sometimes cited â the eraâs super-cars being seen on motorways in legal-speak: âTravelling at speeds in excess of 150mphâ.
Like Income Tax in 1799 this was to be a temporary measure. In the sixties many car drivers were the first in their family to own a vehicle, so with fewer points of reference as regards driving than is the case today. The engineering on some cars (especially in those days brakes) was not great, with many struggling to reach 70mph. At the time then few voices were raised against the measure.
Barbara Castle confirmed the limit as a permanent fixture when she was transport minister in 1967. The genie was out of the bottle to stay.
As driving experience has become ingrained, cars have radically improved, and road building likewise, voices are now starting to be heard about raising the limit, comparing things with France where the top speed is 130kph (80mph), for example. But the chances of this happening are roughly equivalent to those of proportional representation and free beer for all. Indeed it should be recalled that in a period of energy crisis in 1973 the limit was dropped to 50mph for a time, so the smart money would be on a decrease before any increase.
By way of interest, if you feel the need, the need for speed, try the Isle of Man , where rural roads are still de-restricted. Or Germany where much of the autobahn network has no limit. Or if you fancy going a bit further afield, Nepal is another option, though you might want to watch out for a few of those mountain bends.

Almost 50 years ago, a small team at the Italian company Olivetti managed to do what no one had done before them; they created a computer small enough to fit on a desk, and could be used by regular people. It was the Programma 101, what many consider to be the worldâs first personal computer.
To understand just how revolutionary the Programma 101 was when it was unveiled back in 1965, you first have to know what computers looked like at the time. Remember, this was almost 50 years ago. It was the era of huge mainframes, big as fridges, sometimes filling up entire rooms. Only a small elite had access to them.
