Within two weeks, BAYAN-Cavite successfully launched the "Operation Painting and Pasting" campaign to prepare for the upcoming labor day and Andres Bonifacio's 160th birthday. The legitimate appeals of the people were carved on the walls and poles in different parts of the streets in Cavite. It features the anti-reclamation, anti-demolition and anti-imperialist appeals of the people. Especially now that the economic crisis in the Philippines is intensifying and the aggression of the Imperialist nations is intensifying, the fight for our livelihoods and rights must be intensified.

Exploring Region 4 of the Philippines: A Cultural and Economic Hub
Region 4 of the Philippines is a vibrant and diverse area, rich in culture, natural beauty, and economic potential. Known as CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon), it is one of the country's most important regions. This region is not only a hub for tourism but also plays a significant role in the nation’s economy due to its proximity to Metro Manila.
Geography and Climate
Region 4 is situated in the southern part of Luzon and is bordered by the National Capital Region (NCR) to the north. Its strategic location has contributed to its rapid development. With a tropical climate, the region experiences both the wet and dry seasons, with the wet season typically occurring from June to November and the dry season from December to May.
The terrain of CALABARZON is diverse, ranging from coastal areas in Batangas to the mountainous regions of Rizal and Quezon. This geographical diversity provides an ideal setting for a variety of industries, from agriculture to tourism.
Economic Importance
CALABARZON is one of the most economically dynamic regions in the Philippines. It is an industrial powerhouse, home to numerous manufacturing plants, including those in the electronics, automotive, and food processing sectors. Batangas, in particular, is known for its ports and as a vital hub for shipping and trade.
In addition to industrial growth, agriculture is another vital aspect of the region's economy. The fertile lands of Laguna, Cavite, and Quezon support a variety of crops, including rice, coconuts, and bananas. Livestock farming is also prevalent, especially in areas like Batangas.
Tourism is another major contributor to the region’s economy, with visitors drawn to its historical sites, natural wonders, and pristine beaches. Batangas is famous for its diving spots, while Tagaytay in Cavite offers breathtaking views of Taal Volcano.
Rich Cultural Heritage
The cultural landscape of CALABARZON is as diverse as its geography. The region is home to a rich history, with significant events such as the Philippine Revolution being rooted in these provinces. Cavite, for instance, was the birthplace of the Philippine Revolution, where key revolutionary figures like Andres Bonifacio and Emilio Aguinaldo emerged.
Each province has its own distinct traditions, festivals, and cuisines. Rizal, for example, celebrates its annual "Rizal Day" in honor of its famous native, Dr. Jose Rizal. Batangas is known for its "Lomi," a savory noodle dish, while Quezon is famous for "Pancit Habhab," a local noodle dish served on banana leaves.
Nature and Tourism
Region 4 is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty, making it a favorite destination for nature lovers. Tagaytay, with its cool climate and panoramic views of Taal Volcano, is a popular getaway for families and tourists alike. Meanwhile, Batangas offers some of the best beaches and diving spots in the country, including Anilao, known for its vibrant underwater ecosystem.
Quezon, on the other hand, is a province rich in forests and waterfalls, such as the famous "Pagsanjan Falls" in the town of Cavinti, Laguna. Whether it's exploring heritage sites, hiking through lush landscapes, or swimming in clear waters, CALABARZON provides endless opportunities for adventure.
Challenges and Future Prospects
While CALABARZON continues to experience rapid growth and development, it also faces challenges. Overpopulation in urban areas, environmental degradation, and the pressure on infrastructure are some of the key issues facing the region. As development continues, it is crucial for both local government units and businesses to adopt sustainable practices to balance economic growth with environmental conservation.
Despite these challenges, the future of Region 4 remains bright. The government's ongoing infrastructure projects, such as the construction of expressways and transportation hubs, will further enhance connectivity and attract more investments. CALABARZON is poised to remain a key player in the Philippines' economic and cultural landscape.
Conclusion
Region 4, CALABARZON, offers a unique blend of cultural heritage, natural beauty, and economic vitality. From its bustling industrial zones to its tranquil mountain resorts and pristine beaches, this region is a testament to the Philippines' growth and diversity. As it continues to develop, CALABARZON will undoubtedly play an even more significant role in shaping the future of the country.

Hi, so for most unaware, Typhoon Kristine has made its landfall here in the Philippines and it has severely affected the CALABARZON and Bicol regions respectively. Only a few people acknowledge how bad exactly typhoons hit various areas in the Philippines every year, but that probably has something to do with the corrupt government ignoring flood control and climate change plans and masking them with “resiliency”.
Typhoons are a natural disaster: they destroy houses and belongings, infrastructures, kills people and animals alike, and overall leaves a severe physical and psychological effect to those affected. Not to mention the leptospirosis rates due to the contaminated water. Strong winds associated with typhoons can also put trees down, and I’ve also seen a video where cars and humans themselves get caught up in the wind.
I don’t know which audiences this will reach, but if you or someone you know is affected by Typhoon Kristine, here are some emergency hotline numbers you can call: (screengrabbed from Philippine Red Cross and from Instagram stories sorry I do not know who owns the Instagram one)

And if you can help monetarily, here’s a donation drive to start with. (Taken from Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas - KMP’s Facebook page)

If you know any other donation drives or hotlines, you may reblog and share this post here.
Stay safe everyone!

In a press conference on May 25, labor groups led by Kilusang Mayo Uno revealed a government concerted effort on intensifying attacks against workers and unionists nationwide. They warned the public of the new modus operandi of filing “terrorist financing” charges against unionists and development workers.
Unionists from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao exposed continuing violations of human rights, particularly on the freedom of association. Even after the conclusions and recommendations of 2023 ILO High Level Tripartite Mission, workers continue to experience a myriad of violations such as in the enforced disappearance of Southern Mindanao labor organizer William Lariosa, the continued harassment of workers in Gardenia Bakeries and PhilFoods in Calabarzon and the recent filing of “terrorist financing” charges against KMU vice chairperson for Visayas and AMA SUGBO KMU chairperson Jaime Paglinawan.
KMU slammed the US-Marcos regime for perpetuating these attacks, and for deliberately undermining the ILO HLTM recommendations. It can be recalled that Marcos issued EO 23 forming an inter-agency task force to end FOA violations, which labor groups called farcical. It is a far cry from the tripartite mechanism demanded during the mission.
[There is a global propaganda campaign being peddled by the Biden regime in the US that they are a champion of labor rights, their concept is to have a US president who's pro-labor. But the US, historically, with its occupations and foreign policies (?), is the number one violator of workers' rights. In fact, the creation of NTF-ELCAC, which is a thorn in the side of workers, is patterned after the counterinsurgency programs of the US.]
KMU called on workers and the people to expose and oppose the continuing violations of their rights and steadfastly commit to ensuring our fundamental and Constitutional rights and freedoms are held.
