Finishing up the D.A.M.N. Storyline, we have the fandom’s son, and my lil buttercup, Caelum.

A note that I interpret FL and Caelum’s relationship as strictly platonic/familial, and I do not want to see any tags/replies/etc. indicating otherwise. If I see anyone disrespecting the work I put into this art by clowning when I’ve stated this I will be blocking that person. I know I’ve done only romantic partnerships with these sets in the past but Caelum and Freelancer’s relationship is important to me and I don’t want recent discourse to affect my ability to post this set for them. Anyway, don’t be acting a fool on my art >:(

With that out of the way, these quotes are from Bakadere Empathy Daemon Asks You For Help and Bakadere Empathy Daemon Comes to You With a Plan. I cried big anime tears while picking quotes when the reverse comfort video came on. Also, that quote is looong (and technically two quotes, hehe) hence the thinner lines.

These four flowers:

Daisy: innocence, loyal love, purity, faith, cheer, simplicity

Alstroemeria: devotion, friendship

Zinnia: thinking of you, friendship, endurance, goodness, lasting affection

Forget-me-not: remember me always, true love

Do I love forget-me-nots? Yes. Did I save them specifically for Caelum? Also yes. Not only do we know that Caelum is scared of being forgotten, but Caelum remembers his friends, even when they forget him. Not to mention, true love? Listen up, folks, this usually comes up in discussions about soulmate au in fandoms, but true love is not inherently romantic. Caelum is Freelancer’s little brother and they are just so so wonderful together. Is it true that technically one day the Chorus will revoke FL’s ability to see Caelum? Yes. Erik has said we won’t see this happen and quite frankly I’ve decided that I will substitute the reality where it will happen eventually with my own where that is not even a possibility :-) They’re Siblings Your Honor™

Anywho I think the other flowers really speak for themselves (a note that I did not include buttercups because yes they are small and cute and a perfect endearment which I use for Caelum, but they technically mean riches which… not the vibe).

Moving on, here are some honorable mention quotes:

Caelum got a cloud pattern because a) soft and fluffy like sheep, which reminds me of his horns, and b) besides being a constellation, Caelum is a Latin word meaning the sky and heaven. Besides that, I don’t know if anyone would notice this, but I added extra curls to the lettering of safe and loved, also to be reminiscent of his horns.🐑

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go listen to his baking video again and smile so hard my cheeks hurt when he finds out how awful vanilla extract tastes. <333

BUCKLE UP BUTTERCUPS

I am not kidding when I tell you that this is a monster. Initially I wrote the first draft of this fic for camp nanowrimo in July and over the last few months have slowly been rewriting and editing it. The plot completely ran away with me and now it has almost tripled in size?? and somehow along the way I pretty much rewrote the entire mcfucking game (beware: here be spoilers). And now, I am pleased to say that it's finally ready to be shared with you guys!! It's not finished entirely yet, but I have enough of a head start that we should be alright. This fic is my baby and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I do writing it.

Everything is based off @pigeon-princess' au here and the scene used in this chapter is here. I want to thank her deeply from the bottom of my heart, as well as ffxv in general, for inspiring me to write my first fanfic in years and then continuing to inspire me in our conversations <3 (also we have some surprises in store for yall ;D so keep an eye out)

Peony, petunia, buttercup, lavender and also: What's a piece you've written that you feel like has helped you overcome a personal barrier/obstacle? Any work where even though it may not have gotten a lot of notes, holds a special place in your heart because you had a lot of personal growth there?

peony: au or canon?

AU all the way. I am a huge fucker sucker for aus as you all probably may have seen from the sheer amount of au stuff I write. AU gives me much more freedom to explore things. But also, keeping some folks who just had to die alive *glares hard at the Lucis Caelum bloodline* fuckers

petunia: who is your favorite character to write for? why?

In the current fandom I have a few (as you all probably notice, I can never pick one). I enjoy writing for Ignis as several of my friends are into him, so it is fun to watch them curse my name and what not. But my other favourite character to write for is Gladio. I can go so many options for him, from powerful dominate powerhouse to a soft sweet cuddly teddy bear. His personality is nice to write for me, really am able to connect with him.

buttercup: do you prefer to write requests or come up with your own things?

My own. Don’t get me wrong, I have had fantastic requests from my followers and friends. But I always feel bad when I don’t get into it and have to decline it. I start to worry too much if I do it write. And my muse is an insane fickle being. It is hard to make her focus at times, so I try to let her do her own thing. 

lavender: what is the most important thing to you as a writer?

Mmmm. For myself? To portray the characters as well as I can. That is why there are some characters or fandoms I will never write for as I can’t get into their skin/catch their flavour so to speak.

My poems have helped me to get through a lot of difficult times when I just needed to get those emotions out somehow someway. Like really heavy mental blogs and unable to make decisions in my life. Some can be found here Poems.

A piece that holds a special place in my heart is Bloodied Stripes. It is an original piece I had written as part of an application process to be admitted to Birkbeck, University of London (I got accepted but unable to go in the end due to money issues). I had rewritten it 4-6 months after the first time, and I just saw so much growth in my writing. It really impressed and delighted me. Maybe I will rewrite it again, see how much I have improved now.

first thoughts on kh3 dlc

i was gonna do just one big post on the whole thing, but uuuhhhh there’s a second half i didn’t know about? and that’s just all data org thirteen battles, which is gonna take me a while since i don’t have any strategy guides to give me advice yet, so who knows when i’ll finish that chunk

but let’s talk about retcon sora

i’m..... not sure how i feel about the whole concept of the dlc? like, how it interweaves with the final segment of kh3 and basically is a replay for major chunks, but where you can finally play as some of the other keyblade wielders, because on the one hand, it got really tedious at certain points watching cutscenes i’d already seen a few times (because deaths), but on the other hand, i loved every single moment where the cutscene was happening but someone else was talking over it because it was like they were saying ‘we know you know what’s going on here, we just have to gap this little bit of story for the next beat to make sense’

running around scala ad caelum was also pretty nice, once i figured out certain things (still got two treasure chests i have to find at some point, so that’s gonna bother me until it happens, but i’ve got a save file at that point so i should be good to do it eventually)

the dlc earns a decent amount of points for finally giving me playable kairi, although i wish some of her fighting lines were less wishy-washy, but also it was the final battle and then.... well, i’ll get to that in a second i think

anyway, i do appreciate how these things filled in the gaps somewhat, but i’m not sure if it was consistent, exactly, with how sora’s powers were laid out in kh3 - like, chirithy says ‘you can’t interfere with things this time around’, but then he does and it’s actually totally fine? unless sora always did these things and it was a stable time loop situation, but that’s not how the game presents it, especially with how the dlc ends

which reminds me, are there just.... two soras wandering around the multiverse now? or no, i guess at the end of the game kh3 sora becomes dlc sora, and dlc sora is the one who gets to say goodbye to kairi, so i guess that all works out (as well as anything works out when it comes to time travel in kingdom hearts)

anyway, it was a pretty fun little adventure, took me about three to four hours to get through that bit, which is a respectable speed i think considering how much time i spent just wandering around scala ad caelum until i found the sewers

then we get to limitcut

first off, so glad the ff characters are around, i missed them dearly in this whole kh3 adventure, so even if they’re just there for the.... oh my god, i cannot think of this phrase, it’s like bookends and setting and staging?????? the thing where like.... oh, like in the princess bride, where you have the story of wesley and buttercup, but you also have the story of the grandpa reading the book to the sick kid, whatever you call the second thing, i’m okay if that’s all the final fantasy characters are used for, i just missed their existence

so then riku explains what everyone’s been up to while sora’s been gone for a year(?!?!?!?), like twilight town gang is searching roxas and xion’s memories, bbs gang is having a dark realms road trip, and...... kairi’s in a coma

like, fuck off square enix, seriously

you lose all points for giving me playable kairi by immediately turning around and saying she has to be in a coma in order for them to search her heart to find sora clues

are roxas and xion in comas? if so, that should definitely be mentioned, and if not, why the hell should kairi be in one??? also where the hell is namine in all this? is she just generally assisting one of these groups, or are we not supposed to ask questions like that until we defeat thirteen superbosses?

just, ugh, i hate that they keep doing this to her, just give me protagonist kairi or leave her alone, because clearly they can’t treat her right at all

anyway

i appreciate the return of data sora, who may or may not come with existential questions about identity this time, and i guess i’ll just bash away at org thirteen battles for the next week or so

gonna focus on fire emblem for the rest of today, though, since i’m real close to the end of the blue lions bit and i’m eager to get to golden deer (wrote goldeen deer at first, which would be hilarious)
