"I canât believe youâre making me do this," she said as April tossed her backpack into the back of her car. "This feels like kidnapping."
"Stop being so dramatic and get in the car," April replied, a big smile on her face. You and April had been best friends since college, bonding over the ridiculous workload assigned to your class each week. You were opposites: you loved city life, running water, and comfort, while April thrived on nature, adventure, and challenges. She adored plants and meticulously cared for the ones she had at home. In contrast, April had once gifted you a cactus, which you managed to kill.
"I got us muffins and coffee from that place you love," April said.
"Is this your way of bribing me into going?" you asked, reaching for the bag of treats. "I know this is Markâs idea." April just shrugged as she started driving.
"Arenât you tired of the city? This will be good for you! All you do is work, sleep, watch The Office, work out, and repeat," April said, giggling as you stopped chewing.
"Leave The Office out of this," you warned. It had been your favorite show since high school, your comfort show, always playing in your apartment. You even tried to get others hooked on it. "Iâve seen you laugh."
"Listen, thereâs something I need to tell you," April said, turning down the music.
"Did Mark propose?" you asked immediately, knowing they were endgame. The three of you had met in college and stayed close ever since.
"No," April replied.
"Youâre pregnant then?!"
"Shut up!" April interrupted. "Harry is coming. Mark invited him, and I had no say in it," she blurted out, like ripping off a band-aid.
"Oh! Let me out. I am not going," you said, instantly annoyed at the mention of his name. "I thought Mark and he werenât friends anymore."
"He just came back from America. He called Mark a few weeks ago, and they had drinks and dinner together. Apparently, heâs changed and is more mature." You rolled your eyes as you finished eating your muffin. Your appetite was gone, and you felt suddenly nervous. "You have to let go of that grudge against him!"
"Itâs not a grudge, April. The man ghosted me after we had sex. That was all he was after. Him leaving was the best thing that could have happened to all of us," you said. You had fallen for his charm, and after much convincing, you finally gave in during your senior year.
"Youâve moved on, and so has he. Iâm just asking you to be polite, babe," April insisted. "I just want us to have a good time."
You sighed, leaning back in your seat as the cityscape blurred past. "Fine. But if he starts anything, I'm not holding back."
April laughed, patting your leg. "That's the spirit. Just remember, we're here to relax and have fun."
The rest of the drive was filled with casual chatter and music, the tension slowly easing. As you neared your destination, a clearing in the woods where you would set up camp, you couldn't help but appreciate the serene beauty of the place. The stress of city life began to melt away, replaced by a reluctant sense of peace.
April parked the car and you both got out, stretching your legs and taking in the fresh air. "Itâs gorgeous out here," you admitted begrudgingly.
"See? Told you it would be worth it," April said, grinning.
Mark emerged from behind the car, waving. "Hey, you two! Glad you made it. I'm surprised you managed to convince Y/N,â he said, wrapping his arms around April.
âIt took a lot,â April giggled as Mark kissed her cheek. âMuffins and coffee.â
âI can still go back,â you said, throwing your backpack over your shoulder. âHow long is this hike going to take?â you asked, walking up to Mark and giving him a friendly side hug.
âAbout thirty minutes. Is that fine or are you going to melt?â he teased, grinning.
April slapped his chest playfully before opening the trunk to get the rest of the stuff out. âWhereâs your friend, anyway? Or is he still the unpunctual asshole he always was?â
âMâ right hereâ Harry said as he emerged from the trail that they were going to take to the campsite. You abstained from saying anything surprised at his appearance. He had kept his good looks. He had even gotten more attractive with more age. However, you would never admit it aloud.
April turned to look at you with her eyes widen opened. You gave her the same look, letting her know that you agreed. Harry wore tiny black shorts that left little to imagination. His legs seemed to never end and his thighs were inked. His grey shirt was tight enough sculpt his chest and his pectorals. His curls were tucked under his basketball cap and his eyes hidden away by some aviator sunglasses.
âYou were saying, Y/N? I didnât catch the last partâ Harry asked you, with a small smirk. âAre you still a yapping bitch?â
âJust that we should start the hikeâ You responded, looking straight at him. You werenât the same quiet and shy girl you were in college. You had matured and life experiences had shaped you. You were more outgoing and vocal about your opinions.
âI thought soâ you heard him say as you turned your back towards him.
As you all gathered the camping gear, the anticipation of the weekend settled in. The woods were peaceful, with the sun filtering through the trees, casting dappled shadows on the ground. Birds chirped in the distance, and the fresh scent of pine filled the air.
Mark led the way, carrying the heavier equipment with Harry, while April and you followed. Despite your reservations, the beauty of the surroundings began to work its magic, and you found yourself relaxing a bit.
After a short walk, you reached the designated camping spot, a small clearing by a bubbling brook. It was picturesque, almost like a scene from a nature magazine. You couldnât help but admit, if only to yourself, that it was a nice change from the cityâs hustle and bustle.
"That was more than thirty minutes," you complained, dropping to the ground to rest your legs. "You're lucky the view was pretty." Mark and April laughed, while Harry remained silent, just watching you.
"Let's set up camp," Mark said, and he and April began unloading the gear. You took the opportunity to pull out the speaker and connect your phone.
As you selected a playlist, music filled the air, blending with the natural sounds of the forest. You watched as Mark and April worked together seamlessly, their laughter and chatter a comforting background noise. Harry joined in, helping with the heavier items, his actions precise and deliberate. You couldnât help but feel a simmering resentment toward him, remembering the night that had led up to the hate that you had grown towards him.
You glanced around, taking in the beauty of the campsite. Tall trees encircled the clearing, their leaves rustling in the soft breeze. The nearby brook added a soothing melody to the scene, and the late afternoon sun cast a warm, golden glow over everything.
Harry approached, handing you a bottle of water. "You looked like you could use this," he said, his tone neutral.
"Thanks," you replied curtly, accepting the bottle but avoiding eye contact. His gesture did little to ease the tension between you.
With the tents set up and the campsite organized, the four of you gathered around the fire pit. Mark expertly built a fire, and soon the flames were crackling as the sun descended behind the trees, providing warmth and a focal point for the group.
"How was America?" Mark asked Harry as he handed him a beer. "Did you enjoy living there?"
"It was nice for a while," Harry replied, taking a sip. "But it got lonely after a bit. I'm actually happy to be back."
"Marketing, right?" April asked, earning a quick nod from Harry.
You listened quietly, not fully trusting his cheerful demeanor. It was hard to forget the history between you.
"Well, we're glad to have you back," Mark said, clinking his beer bottle against Harryâs. "Itâs like old times again."
April smiled, trying to lighten the mood. "Yeah, just with more responsibilities and less reckless behavior."
"Speak for yourself," Mark joked, earning a playful nudge from April.
Harry chuckled, but his eyes kept drifting toward you. You avoided his gaze, focusing on the fire instead.
Mark instantly got up from his spot, his eyes twinkled mischievously as he took off his jacket and shirt.
April raised an eyebrow, âWhat are you doing?!â
âIâm going for a swimâ he said, grinning widely as he took of his pants along with his boxers.
You burst out laughing, shaking your head as you covered your eyes not wanting to look at your best friendâs boyfriend privates.
âA swim? Itâs pretty late, Mark.â April said as Mark used his hands to cover himself.
âWhy not?â Mark said, standing up and stretching. âWeâre out here in the middle of nowhere, no one around for miles. Itâll be fun.â He wanted to cut the tension. He wanted for everyone to have fun and it was a way to get everyone out of the funk especially the both of you. âOh, itâs fucking coldâ He said as he ran towards the lake.
April rolled her eyes but smiled. âYouâre crazy, you know that?â she yelled after him as she got up from her spot.
âThatâs why you love me,â Mark quipped, winking at her.
You bit your lip, considering it. The idea was wild and spontaneous, something you wouldnât normally do. But maybe thatâs what made it appealing.
âAlright,â you said, surprising yourself. âIâm in. But if anyone mentions this to anyone back home, Iâm denying everything.â as you started stripping. You couldnât see Harry, but you could feel Harryâs stare on you.
April laughed. âThis should be interesting. Okay, Iâm in too.â
Mark clapped his hands together. âHarry?â He yelled as he splashed water. The water was surprisingly warmer than expected.
As soon as your pants came off, you sprinted towards the water, not wanting to give anyone a chance to inspect your body. April followed right behind you, and before you knew it, both of you were submerged in the cool, refreshing water.
The initial shock of the cold water took your breath away, but it quickly turned invigorating. You surfaced, laughing and pushing your wet hair out of your face. April emerged beside you, her laughter echoing across the lake.
"This is crazy!" she shouted, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Harry was right behind, diving into the water with loud splashes. The four of you swam around, the thrill of the spontaneous adventure making everyone giddy.
"Not your worst idea, Mark," you admitted, floating on your back and gazing up at the starry sky. "This is lovely." Mark grinned, splashing water at you.
âThings havenât changed at much. We still let you convince us into doing shitâ said, his tone lighter than it had been all evening.
For a while, you all floated and swam, the cool water refreshing and the company surprisingly pleasant. The tension and animosity seemed to wash away with the gentle waves.
The atmosphere grew quieter as April nestled closer to Mark, the two of them wrapped up in each other's presence, sharing quiet moments and exchanging soft words. The only sounds breaking the silence were the faint music playing in the background and the gentle crackling of the fire.
You glanced over at April and Mark, their closeness evident in the way they leaned into each other, their whispered conversations carrying an intimacy that made you smile despite yourself. It was a rare sight, seeing them so openly affectionate, and you couldn't help but feel a pang of envy mixed with genuine happiness for them.
Harry saw opposite you, lost in his thoughts as he stared at the sky. The events of the evening seemed to have softened his demeanor, his usual guarded expression replaced by a contemplative look. For once, the animosity between you felt less palpable, overshadowed by the camaraderie of the evening.
The music played softly in the background, a soothing backdrop to the quiet moments shared among friends. The night air was cool against your skin, but the warmth of the water and the company kept you comfortable.
"It's good to see you again, pup," Harry spoke up suddenly, his voice breaking the peaceful silence. The old nickname tugged at your emotions. He had called you that since college, back when you both shared dreams and aspirations.
You looked at him, caught off guard by his unexpected warmth. "Yeah," you replied softly.
"I heard you landed your dream job," he continued, glancing at you with a hint of a smile. You nodded, trying to conceal your own smile. "A reporter for BBC News. I remember how you used to talk about it non-stop. Proud of you."
âThanks. How is your mom and Gemma?" you asked, recalling that final year of uni when Harry had invited you to his family home. It had been Easter weekend, a time when you got to meet the two women who made Harryâs world turn.
Harry's face softened at the mention of his family. "They're doing well," he replied, a hint of fondness in his voice. "Mom's as busy as ever, and Gemma is a mum nowâ
"Wait, what?!" You were taken aback, genuinely surprised by the news. It was unexpected, and you hadn't seen it coming.
Harry chuckled softly at your surprised reaction, his eyes reflecting a mix of amusement and pride. "Yeah, she had a baby girl a few months ago," he explained, his voice tinged with happiness. "It's been quite the adjustment, but she's doing great."
You couldn't help but smile at the thought of Gemma as a mother. "That's amazing," you replied genuinely. "Congratulations to her."
As you processed this new information, you felt a twinge of nostalgia for the times you had spent with Harry and his family. It seemed like another lifetime ago, yet the memories were still vivid in your mind. Despite the distance that had grown between you, moments like these reminded you of the bonds that once connected you.
"Listen, Y/N..." Harry began, but he was swiftly cut off by Mark and April.
"We're heading out. We are starving!" Mark called out, trailing after April as they exited.
Harry paused, his words hanging in the air as Mark and April hurriedly headed towards the campsite. You exchanged a glance with Harry, both of you momentarily sidelined by the interruption.
âIâll see you out thereâ You said, trying to sound casual despite the awkwardness of the moment. Deep down, you wondered what Harry had wanted to sayâwhether it was something about the past or the tentative future you both seemed to be tiptoeing around. However, you didnât want to stay behind. You werenât skeptical about giving him a chance to explain himself.
Carefully, you swam back to shore and climbed out of the water. Attempting to regain your composure and stride confidently back to camp, you couldn't help but feel you'd failed miserably, especially with the chilly air gnawing at you.
Everyone changed into comfortable clothes while Mark prepared hot dogs for dinner.
"Did you bring your sleeping bag?" April asked, emerging from her tent.
"Yeah, I think so. It was in the hall by the door," you replied, brushing your hair. As you watched April search for it, a feeling of panic began to creep in. You mentally retraced your steps, recalling the things you had taken out of the trunk.
"No way," you muttered under your breath, frantically rummaging through your belongings. "I thought we grabbed everything!"
"Whatâs wrong? What are you looking for?" Harry asked, wanting to help.
"I think I left my sleeping bag at home," you sighed, realizing it was going to be a tough night. You had brought your tent, but sleeping on the bare ground wasnât part of the plan.
Harry frowned, considering the situation. "we'll figure something out," he said, his voice reassuring.
Mark, overhearing the conversation, turned from the campfire where he was tending to the hot dogs. "I brought an extra blanket. It's not a sleeping bag, but it should help.â
"Thanks, Mark," you said, grateful for the gesture. Still, the thought of an uncomfortable night's sleep loomed over you.
April emerged triumphantly with a blanket. "Here, hopefully this makes it more comfortable," she said.
You took the blanket from her, managing a small smile. This trip was definitely not going as you had expectedâit seemed like one thing after another.
"Hot dogs are ready!" Mark announced cheerfully as he handed everyone their plate and they gathered around the fire.
âRemember the last time we went camping?â April asked as she swallowed a bite of her hot dog.
âWasnât that the time that Mark though there was a bear attacking us?â Harry smirked, taking a bite of his hot dog. âWhat animal was it?â
âIt was a racoonâ You joined in, the memory making you chuckle.
âIn my defense it was SO loud! It made a lot of noiseâ Mark laughed, shaking his head. âIt was bloody bigâ.
"Was that before or after you tried to scare it away by singing 'Eye of the Tiger' at the top of your lungs?â April busted out laughing.
âHe was so off-key. I am surprised the racoon put up a fightâ
âI was just trying to protect us!â Mark threw up his hands in mock indignation.
Everyone busted into laughter again, the tension had melted away in the shared amusement. For a moment, it felt like old times, with jokes and stories like in college.
Later, as you settled into your tent with the borrowed blanket, you couldnât help but think about all the conversations that you had with your friends. Harry's earlier attempt to talk still lingered in your mind, and you knew that the conversation was far from over.
Just as you were about to drift off, you heard a soft knock on the tent flap. "Hey, you still awake?" It was Harryâs voice.
You sat up, your heart beating a little faster. "Yeah, whatâs going on?"
Harry unzipped the tent entrance and peeked in, holding a sleeping bag. "I thought you might need this."
"You brought an extra one?" you asked, suspicion creeping into your voice.
"Yeah," he replied, but his eyes betrayed him. You knew Harry too well to be fooled.
"You're lying," you said, stopping him just as he turned to leave. "You canât fool me. I know you, Harry Styles. I know this is your sleeping bag."
He paused, a sheepish smile tugging at his lips. "So, what if it is?"
"That Iâm not taking your sleeping bag from you," you insisted, handing it back to him. "Thank you, though."
He hesitated, the flickering firelight casting shadows across his face. "Let's share it then," he suggested softly.
You blinked, taken aback by his offer. You were nervous. The though of you sharing such a tight space and being in such proximity made your heart beat faster and the palms of your hands sweaty.
âAre you sure?â You asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
âYeah,â he said firmly, stepping into the tent. âItâs cold, and I donât want you to be uncomfortableâ.
With a nod, you scooted over to make room. Harry stretched out the sleeping back and unzipped it for both of you. As you both settled into the sleeping bag, the proximity was comforting, but unsettling at the same time. The warmth of his body next to yours was a stark contrast to the chilly night air. You both shared a pillow and the blanket that April had giving you.
His scent enveloped you â a mix of pine, musk and a hint of the campfire smoke. His warmth radiated through the thin layers of the fabric, soothing the chill of the night air. The gently rise and fall of his chest against your back created a rhythmic presence. His arm draped lightly over your side and the sensation of his body pressed against yours brought an unexpected sense of nostalgia.
âAre you confortable?â He whispered as if sharing. secret, as if what you were doing was somehow forbidden.
You nodded slight, feeling the wright of his questions. âI amâ you whispered back, the darkness amplifying the intimacy of the moment.
The silence that followed was filled with the soft sounds of the forest and the distant crackle of the campfire outside.
âThank youâ you murmured, your voice barely audible.
âNo problemâ he replied softly, his words brushing against the back of your neck, sending a shiver down your spine.
You closed your eyes, allowing yourself to sink into the moment. There was still something in the air. Something unspoken.
âRemember that night?â Harry whispered after a while, his voice a gently murmur in the quiet night. Referring to the night of passion that they had shared back in uni. The night that had stayed with you ever since.
âEvery second of itâ you replied, your voice tinged with a mixture of longing and hurt. Memories flooding back, vivid and bittersweet. You could still recall the feel of his lips, the way his touch had ignited a fire within you. âWhy did you never call or text back?â
Harry sighed softly, his warm breath against your neck. âI was a coward,â he admitted, his voice thick with regret. âI was scared of what I felt for you, of how much you meant to me. I didnât know how to handle it, so I ranâ
His words hung in the air, heavy with unspoken emotions. You turn slightly to look at him, your eyes searching his for the truth. In the dim light of the tent, you could see raw vulnerability that he rarely showed.
âI thought I wasnât good enough for youâ You admitted, âI resented you for itâ Tears welled up in your eyes, a mixture of relief and sorrow.
âI am wrong. I was so wrong. I missed youâ he confessed. Harry reached out, gently brushing a tear from your cheek.
The air between you grew thick with unspoken words and lingering emotions. His eyes locked onto yours, his gaze intense and unwavering. You could feel yourself drawing closer, every inch of space between you crackling with tension. The warmth of his body, the gently rise and fall of his chest and the soft brush of his breath against your skin all conspired to lure you to him.
He hesitated, his eyes flicking down to your lips, and you felt like your breath hitch, the moment stretching into an eternity. The desire to close the gap, to feel the familiar yet thrilling sensation of his kiss, was overwhelming and every fiber of you yearned for that kiss that would final bridge all those years of resentment.
Harryâs gaze was intense, his eyes searching yours as if trying to decipher your every thought. His hand trembled slightly as he reached out, cupping your cheek with a tenderness that spoke volumes.
With a deep breath, Harry leaned in slowly, closing the miniscule gap between you. His lips brushed against yours with a feather light touch, tentative yet filled with longing. His lips were warm and soft, fitting against yours as if they had always belonged there.
A soft sigh escaped Harryâs lips, a mixture of relief. His hand moved from your cheek to the nape of your neck, pulling you closer. The kiss deepened, each movement a silent confession of years of yearning and regret.
Lost in the moment, you ran your fingers through his hair, savoring the texture and the closeness it brough. His touch sent sparks through your body, awakening every nerve ending with a delicious ache between your legs that only he could take care of.
âLet me have youâ His breath mingling with yours as he whispered, âI want you so badâ His hand took yours, guiding it to him, making you feel the intensity of his longing and the very evident erection that he had grown for her. His words hung in the air, heavy with desire.
You nodded slowly, your breath hitching in your throat. "Yes," you whispered, your voice trembling with anticipation. "I want you too.â You didnât think much about it. Your mind was too clouded.
Harry closed the distance between you, his lips capturing yours in a kiss both tender and urgent. He used the kiss to roll you to your side with your back towards him. Harry pulled off the sweater off your body and pull the straps of your bralette off your shoulders, exposing more skin for his lips to capture.
Harry hands came down to your pants as his lips trailed down to your neck, each kiss a lingering, deliberate caress that sent shivers down your spine. As his mouth found the sensitive spot just below your ear, he paused, letting his lips brush lightly over your pulse point before his right hand found its way into your underwear.
âTry to stay quiet, yeah?â As his fingers started playing with you, touching your most intimate spots. His knee came between your legs, spreading them more and allowing him to explore more of you.
Harry left arm went under her head, for you to rest your head against his bicep while he had his way with you. You bit your lips, arching your hips towards his hand just as his fingers entered you. A rush of pleasure coursed through you, mingling with a cascade of nerves that made your heart race.
âGod. You are so wet, pupâ He groaned as he tried his best to contain himself. Harry left hand came down to cover your mouth as your moans got louder. âYou are doing so good, babyâ, he mumbled, his arms tightening around you.
âFor the love of fuckâ you gasped as you came undone on his fingers. It was hot, you were both still nuzzled in the sleeping bag. Just as you unzipped the sleeping bag and sat up, you caught Harry sucking the same two fingers that had been in you a second ago.
âCome hereâ Harry commanded as he slipped off his joggers and boxers. It was a sight that she hoped to never forget. The muscles of his abdomen flexed proof that he spent his diligent time at the gym. His erection stood tall and proudly inviting you to ride him.
You slipped off your pants and underwear. Harry hands gripped your waist tightly and guided you down on to him. The pleasure was instant as he stretched you out. Harryâs fingers gripped you tightly, holding you still for a second as you both adjusted to the sensation.
His chest rose and fell with rapid breaths as his head was thrown back.
âShow me how much you missed meâ You said to him which only ignited the fire within him. His hands guided your hips, as you both tried to find the perfect rhythm to drive you off the edge.
âLook at you. So fuckinâ perfect just fâmeâ Your words only ignited the fire within him, a spark that quickly grew into an all-consuming blaze.
His hands firmly guided your hips, every movement deliberate and driven by an intense desire to bring you both to the peak of ecstasy. The sensation of his strong hands on your skin, the way he moved with you, sent waves of pleasure rippling through your body. You both sought the perfect rhythm, each thrust and shift in sync, the friction and pressure building with every passing second.
âOh, baby⌠you are so tightâ he moaned, Harryâs grip tightened on your waist, his fingernails digging into your skin. Your thrust and grinding became sloppier and soon enough both of you were moaning. You clenched around him as Harry lifted his hips from the ground as you both came undone.
You laid down on his chest with him still in you. It was comforting, having him in you. Harryâs hands came up and brushed your sweaty hair back.
âYou arenât going to disappear now, are you?â You asked as he drew patterns on your sweaty back.
âI am not going anywhereâ.

Chapter 1
Seven Years LaterâŚ
In the outdoor courtyard of the palace of Dressrosa. Palm trees swayed in the wind, in an ornate fountain water splashed delicately back into the tiled ceramic bowl. And It is there you stare at your dark-haired opponent as she points her pistol at you.
âGive up, Y/N?â She smirked.Â
âNot a chance,â you raise your arms in the normal fashion, showing off your bracelets wrapped around each wrist. At the top of the bracelet was a small circular container that was filled with the richest cultivated soil in Dressrosa. Once your hands were in the right place it dispensed the soil out and when it did⌠âGrow! Parodia! Magnifica!âÂ
Rapid gunshots were fired as large cactus balls with the spikiest thorns grew rapidly from the cascading dirt. You extended your arms and shot the weaponized flora toward your opponent, stopping the bullets that were heading in your direction.
Baby Fiveâs eyes widened at the incoming siege and somersaulted out of the way.
âNot bad.â she rose to her feet, dusting off her hands.Â
âNot bad at allâ a voice from behind you. Turning you saw the man who had raised you. âYour technique has improved.â
âYoung Master, â You greeted, bowing your head slightly. âI didn't know you were back.â you added nervously.
âJust returned.â the warlord told her, you noted the stern tone laced through his words. âCome, I want to have a word.â
You looked back at Baby Five who gave you a reassuring nod. Though that didnât make you feel any better.
You did as you were told and followed him through the palace to the library. You knew what this was about. He was going to give you âthe talkâ, againâŚ
Following him into the library, you still hadn't decided how to play this.
âHave I not made myself clear?â He asked darkly, closing the large door.
âI don't know what you mean?â Playing dumb it was then.Â
âDonât lie to me,â He moved closer to you, reminding you again how he towered over people. âWhy is Diamante telling me that you went into town- Alone - Again.â With each word the veins on his forehead grew.
When you said nothing he continued, âYou can not just leave the palace without an escort. You know that.â
âI just wanted to explore.â You finally say looking up.Â
This is exactly what he did not want to hear. âExploringâ, would ultimately lead to learning things that were best left in the dark. He leaned in closer to your face, âAnd you may, but not alone.âÂ
âBut Doffy, I can take care of myself. Youâve seen me fight, Iâve gotten better!â You assured him.
âThis has nothing to do with that.â He shook his head, anger rising.
This didnât make any sense,âThen I donât understand why Baby Five and Dellinger can go out by themselves, but I can't?!âÂ
âBECAUSE I TOLD YOU SO!â he shouted.
He didnât need your shocked eyes to tell him how he was coming off, he knew, he felt the mask slipping. You had only ever seen him yell at others but never you. He had always been patient with you.
You watched him reign in his anger, as he placed fingers onto the bridge of his nose and took a deep breath. After a few seconds passed, he finally spoke again, âDo you remember what I told you when I first brought you to the palace Y/N?âÂ
You nodded, crossing your arms and looking away, âYou said you would keep me safe.â
âAnd I intend to keep my promise.â He placed two fingers under her chin, turning your head back to face him. âOver the years Y/N you have grown into a cherished member of this family. Iâd hate to see anything happen to my Rose.â
You felt a chill roll down your spine. It's not that you hated the nickname he had given you when you were younger. You used to love it in fact. When you younger it saddened you whenever he chose to call you by your real name.
But recently there was something about the way he said it now⌠You just couldnât put your finger on itâŚÂ
âNow tell me that you won't leave this palace without permission again.âÂ
âI wonât leave without permissionâ you told him, âIâm sorry, Doffy.â
The words were like music to his ears, releasing your chin, he bent down and kissed where your hairline met your forehead.Â
âGood girl.â he said, with a large smile on his face he booped her nose, âNow if youâll excuse me I have to make a call.âÂ
Turning to leave you, he walked to the door opening it with ease, âOh and Y/N,â he paused to stare at you through his red tinted sunglasses, his smile gone. âDonât make me have this conversation again.âÂ
And with that he was gone. You let out a sigh, cursing Diamante's name. Though luck may have been on your side. Doffy seemed to be under the impression that you had only left the palace once while he was away, which was far from the truth. Youâd just have to be more careful next time.
As you made your way to the library door, a book caught your eye just by chance. It made you stop in your tracks, and take a few paces back. Once in front of the collection you reached for the book pulling it out of the neat and ordered shelf. How had you never noticed until now?Â
âTales of Grand Adventures,â you whispered, as memories of Sea Kings, ships, pirates and treasure are revived in your mind. You ran your hand over the gold colored letters and noticed the âVolume IIâ before sitting on the padded bench and began to furiously turn the pages of the book. A smile graces your face as you remember the woman who would read you similar stories at bedtime.
----
Trafalgar Law had been on Dressrosa for less than a week and could tell something was off.
These toys gave him the creeps and everyone seemed far too cheerful for his liking. He had told his crew to stay off shore for the foreseeable future. He couldn't risk the Donquixote family catching wind of him in town.
It had been a long time since he had seen Donquioxte Doflamigo in the flesh. Law had thought once upon a time there was no one greater than Doffy. But he was older now, wiser, stronger. And if he was going to avenge Corazon he had to be strategic about it. What could he do to hurt the Warlord before finally taking his revenge. He contemplated this as he sat disguised at a cafe, the two old crones chatted relentlessly at the table next to him.Â
âOh it seems like our Rose is at it again,â one said.Â
Law looked up to see a figure dressed in a gray hood, going into a bookstore.Â
âThe King will be displeased,â Law heard the other say as he sipped on his espresso.Â
âI heard he hates it when she leaves the palace.â
âI have no idea why. She is so beloved by the kingdom-â
âAnd no one loves her more than the king,â She then lowered her voice, âYou have to think about it Marta, enemies of the king could be lurking in the shadows as we speak. I couldn't think of a better way to hurt our king than something happening to our Rose.âÂ
They continued their conversations but for Law the way to revenge was clear. He would pick the petals off of this âRoseâ one by one.
And then he would kill herâŚ

AU - Canon Divergence Masterlist
A Rose of Winter (ao3) - Nefertiti1052 (Succubusphan)
Summary: All Daniel wanted to do was escape the stifling life as a Stark of Winterfell and travel the world. Between the looming threat North of The Wall and the den of lions in the capital, he unexpectedly finds love in the midst of a war set to tear Westeros apart. Caught between loyalty to his family and duty, he is torn in a thousand directions that all point to one man: Philip Flowers.
A Toast to Now (ao3) - melapplesphan
Summary: It's Christmas Eve, 2016, and Phil Lester's plane home for the holidays has been delayed due to snow. In a fit of boredom, he finds himself taking an uncharacteristic leap and striking up a conversation with "DanielH."
Meanwhile, Dan Howell can't quite believe that AmazingPhil - the same guy who ignored his messages 7 years ago - just started chatting with him on Grindr.
After All These Years (ao3) - jestbee
Summary: They met her after tour. Martynâs friendâs dog had puppies and Phil fell in love at first sight. Dan did too, but heâll deny it if you ask.
Dan tries to keep his distance, because sheâs Philâs dog not his, but she isnât having any of it.
All the sunlight of our past (ao3) - jestbee
Summary: YouTube is a mess.
Phil's been struggling with it for a while and has just taken a job as a video editor to make ends meet while he figures out whether he still loves it anymore.
Dan's channel has been dead ever since he started working at BBC Radio One and the two haven't seen each other in years.
During a chance meeting in 2019, Dan gets papped coming out of a gay club and his life is sent in to turmoil. He blames Phil, because it had been his idea to go there in the first place, so they're straight back to not talking.
The only recourse Dan has to salvage his career is to return to his YouTube channel after all these years and make a coming out video on his own terms. What he doesn't know is that Phil is the editor he just hired to help him with it.
and my fate has begun to change (ao3) - ovely
Summary: Dan has an inspiring piano teacher as a teenager and decides to dedicate his life to music. After he starts uploading piano videos to YouTube, he finds himself unintentionally becoming a popular YouTuber. Then he meets Phil, and slowly finds a life more like that of the Dan we know.
cause i remember the rush (when forever was us) (ao3) - commonemergency
Summary: If he were to go live on radio and have a chat about his life it would bring up a lot of old skeletons in the closet that he tried so hard to keep in there. He knew eventually that heâd have to clean it out to move on. or it's been six years since Dan has last seen Phil.
Christmas Coming Out (ao3) - FandomFeels17
Summary: He didn't intend to come out to his mum in his future mother in law's kitchen at Christmas... But here he was, doing exactly that.
Da (ao3) - Tarredion
Summary: One day can change your life forever. For Phil, his daughter Mel, and Dan, who'd have guessed that day would be one when they're out doing ordinary shopping together.
-
in a universe where the only difference is they never got together in 09, yet still harbor those feelings
Dan and Phil versus the World (ao3) - Anonymous
Summary: In an alternate universe (where Poe the cactus survived), Dan and Phil revisited Japan after TATINOF. Now theyâre back in London, but something's changed, leaving Dan tense and restless. Maybe theyâve been so busy selling Dan and Phil⢠all these years that theyâve forgotten how to be themselves. Storytelling has a way of seeping into real life, but it only confounds things when you start to believe it.
Diary - i-love-phan-and-butts
Summary:Â Dan and Phil are playing his and seek when Phil hides in Danâs closet and finds a load of sex toys and possibly a sex diary of dreams heâs had about Phil and Phil confronts Dan about it.
Disney World Misadventures (ao3) - auroraphilealis (peachrosepetals)
Summary: Dan, a law student with parents so strict they make him come home every weekend, gets ditched by his friends at Disney World in Florida during his short summer holiday. Alone, he runs into an incredibly attractive YouTuber who nerds out about anime with him, and even buys him a tiny Ciel figurine. Dan, meanwhile, quickly finds himself falling in love, especially after they get it on in a Disney World bathroom.
Dropping Anchor in a Storm (ao3) - jestbee
Summary: Phil wakes in the early hours to a thin beam of sunlight breaking through his curtains, and the soft sound of Dan breathing by his side.
He should be able to bask in the peace and stillness of the room, but his brain won't let him do that today.
for you are not beside but within me (ao3) - obsessivelymoody
Summary: Dan and Phil spend a day off in Vancouver
game plan (ao3) - possumdnp
Summary: In another universe, Dan posted "the June video" in 2018 as originally planned, right in the middle of the Interactive Introverts tour. But how would he and Phil have handled the gaming channel?
In the shadow of your heart (ao3) - croissantbleu
Summary: Dan and Phil fell apart a few years ago, and if Phil seemed to have no problem getting used to his new life back in Manchester with his husband Noah, Dan has a few more difficulties moving on. But when Phil comes down to London to attend Louiseâs party and ends up having to stay with Dan for a few days, who can tell what will happen
Magic Tricks (ao3) - queerofcups
Summary: Every magician knows there is no such thing as magic. They are masters of making things possible out of a situation that seems impossible. The key to getting what you want in life is to know that the only reason why something is, is because it was made possible. It can only be if it is possible for it to be. Make it possible and let it be.
-
A relationship in reverse.
Our Flaws Are Aligned (ao3) - phantasizeit
Summary: Dan and Phil are YouTubers, but they hate each other. Phil is reminded of this when heâs forced to interact with him at the Spain Creatorâs Summit. Their situation isnât helped by their complicated past when their firecracker relationship crashed and burned. When Stop, Speak, Support contacts Phil to be a headlining speaker in their tour across schools in the UK, he is more than excited, until he finds out heâll working next to his YouTube enemy. Phil doesnât expect their time planning the tour together to rekindle old feelings he thought heâd long since buried.
Retrace, Retry (ao3) - catboydan
Summary: In 2012, Dan left Manchester and Phil didnât follow. Dan didnât let him.
Now, itâs 2016 and Dan returns to retrace his steps and maybe, possibly, have a chance at a second try.
share you like an island (ao3) - JudeAraya
Summary: When Phil gets picked up by a beautiful boy at a uni party, he's expecting a one night stand.
What he doesn't expect is to keep falling into bed with the boy with a reputation. Who turns out to also be a youtuber. Who somehow becomes his best friend. It's not complicated.
Until it kinda is.
Ships that pass in the night (ao3) - jestbee
Summary: Dan and Phil are YouTubers. The catch? Theyâve never met, and Phil doesnât want them to.
so tell me darling do you wish we'd fall in love? (ao3) - furryphil
Summary: after being dragged to playlist live, dan expects a weekend of waiting in lines for a ridiculous amount of time and dealing with screaming fangirls. what he didnât expect was to meet his teenage idol, AmazingPhil. he didnât expect for said teenage idol to ask for his number and actually take interest in him.
Super Amazing Project: Unsolved (ao3) - yikesola
Summary: They find a hallway once theyâre inside with a big, wide, broken window. It lets in more than enough light to film and the shot of the graffitied wall behind them is interesting. Phil sets up the tripod. They stand in frame, a safe foot of space between them. They both clear their throats. âHey guys, and welcome to another episode of The Super Amazing Project!â
A fic about canon divergence and hauntings.
VETSCO Ă gogo (ao3) - sierraadeux
Summary: The guy is just really hot, and maybe Danâs also a bit concerned heâs going to fall with all the times heâs watched him wiggle and wobble on seemingly unsteady limbs. He never does, or at least he hasnât yet, but Dan would like to think heâs got his back if he ever does.

Desert Dweller
I awoke to find myself in a desert Sweltering, sweaty and disoriented Cacti fangs, jackal claws, sandy tears I will collect the skulls of the fallen The cattle of the world collapse one by one There are no sacred cows here Because nothing is so sacred That it can't be bought and sold I live for comfort, my spirituality is bleak But you do not live as I do Surrounded by nothingness So before you judge, remember Your voice is merely one grain of sand

Hi l ove your work and I was wondering if you could do gn fluff headcanons or a imagine with vance hopper if that's ok it doesn't need to be
Sure!
He's a cactus on the outside and a marshmallow on the inside
Once you break down his walls, or in your case, melt, he's the sweetest thing ever.
Only in private though.
PDA isn't really his thing
Are you not feeling well? Vance is there serving you chicken noodle soup
When you thank him, he gets all shy and smiles really sweet
Out in public, he's different
He's gruff and a little bit mean
But you understand that he has a reputation to uphold
You wouldn't trade him for the world

Have Mercy on Me
Pairing: Felix Escellun x GN!MC
Fandom: Fictif (Last Legacy)
Rating: M (swearing, mild sexual content)
Words: ~ 1500
Description: Felix and his barista are a bit less than careful when it comes to concealing their midnight make out sess.
Notes: So Sage suspects that Felix and MC are a thing, but he doesnât know that they are. Or he didnât prior to this fic. The last of my Felix writing spree! Iâm moving on to some Asra next.
Tags: @margitartist @demon-paradise @themohawkhelmet @cactus-hoodie @aomiyeon @piningmaybeanartist @another-confused-gay
When I imagined travelling with the legendary Starsworn, sitting in the parlour of a run-down inn and getting wasted wasnât exactly what I had in mind.
Sage grabs a bottle from the table at his feet and takes a hearty swig.
âEven this is failing to entertain me now,â he says, cracking his back as he stands, âIâm going to go pass out.â
âWill you kill me if I call it a cat nap?â I singsong.
Safe glares at me in reply, ears pinned flat against his head. âDo you want to find out?â
I opt to stay quiet as he turns towards the stairs that lead to our rented rooms.
âI think Iâm going to turn in for the night as well,â Anisa hums, her green eyes glittering in the firelight. âGoodnight, you two!â
Felix and I sit silently as the sound of creaking wood accompanying footsteps retreats up the stairs.
As soon as the parlour is silent, he turns to me, smirking.
âAh, to be free of Sageâs incessant pestering.â
I too am rather glad to be alone with him. With all thatâs gone on lately, Iâve barely had Felix to myself at all these last few days.
The cracking of the fire is soothing, the silence between us strangely comfortable. Itâs rather odd, considering Felix isnât one for quiet contemplation, and itâs very rare that any situation heâs involved in remains free of awkwardness.
Iâm distracted from my thoughts as Felix glances down at our hands, still close together being that we have yet to seperate from our previously crowded position on the sofa.
Once again, I feel myself wishing that he would just ask for things when he wanted them, like he so obviously wants to hold my hand now. Am I doing something wrong? Is this some consequence of his relationship with Rime? I know almost nothing about that, I donât really want to, but if that deer-man did anything to hurt Felix, I guarantee Iâll snap his antlers like Pixy Stix.
Then again, perhaps some of the hurting was consensual. He did have some choice comments about their sexual relationship that Iâve really been trying to forget. Yikes. I canât imagine the Felix I know in a relationship anything like that.
Heâs too precious... too soft. I feel like getting rough with him would break him, shattering his beauty to shards, like stained glass.
But I wouldnât mind if he were a bit more forward with me.
âDo you want to hold my hand, Felix?â
He starts, then blushes as he meets my gaze. Felix nods, his expression turning resolute as he slowly reaches for my hand, then intertwines my fingers with his.
I reach to delicately tilt his chin up with the index finger of my free hand.
âI do like you, you know,â I tease, but the words still carry meaning. âYou donât have to be so hesitant.â
âO-okay. I know that, I do. Itâs just... difficult,â he scoffs, a frustrated sound deep in his throat. His voice goes soft as he continues, âI havenât- I havenât done this since...â
âI know.â He doesnât need to say Rimeâs name for me to know who this is about.
I smile, sultry turning soft, then focus my attention back on the fireplace as Felix lays his head on my shoulder with a soft sigh. Progress. His hair tickles my chin, but I donât really mind. He smells... nice. Like... well, he actually kind of smells like sage. Sage the plant, not the person. Felix would certainly take offence to the latter. I snicker under my breath just thinking of his reaction if I told him so.
I suddenly shiver as Felix turns his face into my neck, trying to stay still. Heâs not a huge fan of casual physical contact, and I donât want to scare him away. Heâs kinda like a pet, a cat, in that any time he gets close I stay shock still in hopes that he wonât run off. Heâs like a cat in many ways, actually. Grumpy, recluse, adorable. Another description he would despise, knowing his hatred for Stella. I purse my lips to keep from giggling. Man, if only everyone knew how hilarious I really am.
âYou realize,â Felix hums, the vibrations creating goosebumps across my skin. âWe are completely alone.â
My amusement fades in an instant, my features stretching into a seductive grin.
âOh? And what, Felix, oh dignified and talented mage, are you suggesting?â
I can almost feel his face heat from where itâs pressed against the soft skin of my neck.
He sighs, then mumbles, âI beg you not to tease me so. We canât all be as lascivious as Sage, my dear.â
âFelix,â I tease, despite his request, âare you asking for a kiss?â
He pulls away, face flushed red, biting his lip as he refuses to meet my gaze.
âNo.â The answer is obviously yes, and although his pout is adorable, he sounds like a stubborn, petulant child.
I place my hands on both of his cheeks, forcing him to meet my gaze.
âGood. Because you donât need to ask. If you want to kiss me Felix, go ahead.â
Itâs a bold challenge. Never does Felix initiate such things, but I want him to. I want him to want to.
He blinks. Then, slowly, tentatively, he shifts closer to me, the sofa creaks beneath him, and I feel the cushions sink as he leans towards me. His breath fans across my face as he gets impossible closer, his eyelashes fluttering against my cheeks.
Itâs in moments like these that it truly hits me: how incredibly intoxicating Felix is. I donât think I could refuse him if I wanted to; my heart yearns to be swept up in the vortex of his stormy eyes, to drown in a sea as black as his fingernails or as red as his bitten lips.
I can just barely feel the brush of his lips against mine, leaving my breath stuttering in my throat. Itâs nice- the closeness, the stillness. Intimate even, with our foreheads pressed together and our mouths just barely touching. I could stay like this with him forever.
Then our lips slide together in a familiar, passionate dance, slow and sensual and utterly delicious. I instinctively move my hands to tangle in his hair, pulling just the way I know he likes, while Felix surprises me by moving one hand to cup my face, the other to skim my thigh, and kissing me back hard, hard enough to make me feel like the breath that fills his lungs, and I struggle to refrain from smiling against the softness of his lips.
I pull away, trying not to notice his bereft, breathy little exhale, just long enough to quirk a brow before I place my hands on his chest and push him back into the sofa, chuckling at the noise of shock that he makes.
And while I love to have him near me, holding me, this is where I like Felix best. Pinned under me as I straddle his waist, wide, silvery eyes reflecting the dying firelight.
I lean over him, tantalizing, teasing, trace a path with my tongue from his collarbone to the shell of his ear, then finish by biting down on his earlobe, rolling the stud he wears in his ear with the tip of my tongue.
Felix gasps, hips involuntarily pressing upwards and against mine, a breathy whine building in his throat. I catch his wrists and pin them above his head, leaning back to admire the mess Iâve made of him.
âSo pretty,â I murmur, twirling a strand of his hair with my free hand.
âYou are quite,â his voice shakes with his ragged exhale, âresplendent yourself.â
I snort, hum, then lean forward to capture his mouth in a sinful, open-mouth kiss, grinding against him once more in a way that has us both panting into each otherâs mouths. Iâm not sure how long we stay tangled up like that, rocking together, never parting for longer than it takes to catch a breath.
His skin is surprisingly warm to the touch when my fingers flit under the fabric of his shirt, dipping over the soft give of his stomach, a gentle, exploratory touch I can feel mirrored by Felixâs hands on the bare skin of my arms.
Iâm just about to suggest we take this somewhere more private when Iâm interrupted by a choking noise. A sound not unlike that of a cat, yakking on a hairball.
Felix and I hastily spring apart, and my gaze is immediately drawn to a tall, white-haired figure standing at the base of the stairs.
âHoly fuck.â Sage whispers, his expression a mix of amusement, awe, and confusion. His eyes dart between the look of sheer mortification that paints my features and Felixâs disheveled appearance and half-open shirt.
Shit.
Felix flops back down, burying his burning red face in a pillow.
âNot now, Sage.â
Sage only smirks. âInterrupted something, did I? By all means, donât stop on my accord. Iâm all for watching, or joining. If youâre into that sorta thing.â
I can only manage to stare, slack-jawed. Is he really suggesting...?
âSo,â Sage clears his throat, causing Felix to groan at the realization that he has not yet left. âYou two really are-â
I nod.
âNo,â he grimaces.
âYes,â I deadpan.
âNo,â he repeats, louder, frantic. âI cannot live in a world in which Felix has game. First Rime, now you? Are you sure youâre the one who got teleported to another dimension?â
âThatâs not exactly what-â Felix finally huffs as he raises his head, glaring.
âWhatever, man. This is some fucked up shit. Majorly fucked up, thatâs what I say.â Sage crosses the room, retrieving a dagger from the nearby armchair and twirling it dangerously in his leather-clad grip (I assume this is the reason he came back into the parlour at all).
He makes to move up the stairs, but pauses, throwing me a grin over his shoulder, accompanied by a waggle of his eyebrows.
âBut if you ever wanna get a taste of the wild side...â
âSage!â Felix exclaims, eyes flashing a dangerous green, but the former only snickers.
âGoodnight, horny children. Try to keep the noise level to a minimum, if ya know what I mean.â
I have to slap my hand over Felixâs mouth to stifle his angry retort.
This is going to be a long few days.

...mr knausgaard
Once again in the company of Mr Knausgaard. Reading the Winter of his Seasons quartet. A series of observations about objects and nature loosely connected to winter, all written for his unborn daughter. Passage in there about ageing and birthdays that made my blood run cold. No-one does haunting melancholy like Karl Ove. Maybe Leonard Cohen actually. Or LDR.
Bought a new cactus. Looks like something out of a digital ad for a high price point tequila brand.Â
[Two paragraphs of this post have been deleted. One speculating about Hitlerâs sexuality and one outlining my upcoming work schedule in incredible detail.]
