in dusk's light, owain hurriedly strides toward an old friend.
"HAIL, CYNTHIA!" he exclaims, his voice a clarion call. "we meet again, o' valiant companion in justice, HERO of yore eternal!" with a flick of his cape, he poses accordingly. "hark! let the echoes of our friendship resound throughout the ages, as we march forth, undaunted by the perils that await! together again, we are invincible, and together, we shall etch our legend upon the very fabric of eternity!"
in short — he's pleased to see her alive and well.
The walls of Garreg Mach are huge. She feels small, almost insignificant - and a little alone. While Cynthia knows she won't struggle to make friends here, still she misses Ylisse. She misses her old friends. As the sun sets, so too would a new day come, a new dawn for Cynthia at the academy.
But a voice stops her, and she turns on her heel.
"Owain!" She poses in turn, holding her elbow up with her hand, her other hand posed over her chin. He's one of the few people who understands justice and heroics.
"Right! The two of us together, we're gonna rid this land of villains and ne'er-do-wells!" But once she'd finished posing, she pulled her old friend in for a hug. "But I missed you, you big silly. I'm glad to see you, too."

I think one of the scariest jobs in the world has GOTTA be whatever poor asshole serves as Corinthian’s dentist
If you look closely enough, you might see him sort of flinch - just a slight snapping of his teeth, like he's worried they're going to be pried out of their sockets and taken from him.
"Lucky for me," he says, smiling his predator-hunger smile, "My teeth are a little more durable than any mortal's. No dentist trips for me."
(The unfortunate truth: his dentist is the King of Dreams, and the only thing scary about that job is how freakily into it their creation is when they start messing around with its mouths.
Scary for everyone else who has to witness it, I mean. Dream doesn't give a single fuck.)

proposing what I'm going to call Gaylor's Razor, which is: never explain normal shit as being part of a secret message that can only be decoded by over-analysis.
"These Taylor Swift lyrics are actually coded messages saying that she's a lesbian and is forced to stay in the closet! Any lyrics that are clearly about being attracted to a man are just to throw us off the scent!" Sometimes people, like Taylor Swift, are straight and write about being straight, because they are straight.
"The fourth series of Sherlock was deliberately bad because it was actually a coded message to us fans that there is a secret fourth episode that will make Johnlock canon and will actually be good!" Sometimes writers (even experienced writers who are normally good at their jobs) will write something that's not good, because no one is perfect. They're not going to waste everyone's time and money and energy creating something terrible on purpose as part of a grand master plan.
"Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, the Canadian Olympic ice dancers, are secretly married (with kids)! Their public relationships with people who are not each other and them repeatedly saying 'we dated as kids and now we're just friends' are just to hide the truth! Which they need to hide for some reason! Their relationship is obvious just from their physical chemistry when competing! JUST LOOK AT THIS TWO SECOND CLIP OF HIM BLINKING AT HER!" It seems counterproductive to put all that thought into hiding a relationship that doesn't need to be hidden but then also telegraph that same relationship in front of millions of people through planned choreography.
"But BB, what about times that people really are speaking in code or hiding something due to outside influences?"
If it requires huge leaps in logic, like adding all the letters in a sentence together and dividing by seventeen and that number matches the binary sequence for the color yellow so YELLOW MUST BE SIGNIFICANT, it's not a secret code.
If it requires focusing on teeny tiny details but discards huge ones, like analyzing someone's micro-expressions but handwaving away what the person is actually saying out loud with their mouth, or focusing on one specific line instead of the entire scene or song or whatever, it's not a secret code.
If both supporting and contradictory evidence are used to come to the same conclusion (ex: when Taylor says something that I interpret as gay, that means she's gay, and when she says something that I interpret as straight, that still means she's gay and just hiding it), it's not a secret code.
Trying to apply fandom meta analysis techniques to real life is a really good way of fall into conspiratorial thinking that can be easily exploited. You can totally try to predict what's going to happen in a story or choose to interpret a scene in a specific way; you can't do that in real life with real people. That way lies the kind of nonsense that leads to shit like "this image of pizza on a children's toy is actually subliminal messaging by The Cabal™ that proves that Pizzagate is real."

[mobile so no symbol but. Cabal is undoing Silver's shirt buttons with his knife. in a sexy way.]
Silver does something almost unthinkable: he relaxes. He neither flinches nor flees. He watches, eyes dark with desire, as Cabal's knife severs thread after thread, but it's not the blade he's watching. It's him. Above him in the dark, Johannes is gorgeous, and Silver knows--knows, as solid and undeniable as the sheets under his back or the beating heart in his chest--that there's no threat here. Here, Johannes would never hurt him. He'd never dare.
"Johannes... Doesn't it strike you as odd that this isn't the first time there's been a knife between us?" Silver's eyes glitter in the dark, gazing intently at Johannes, humour--or smugness--in his smile. He can't help trying to thin his patience, even now. His hands haven't moved from where they rest by his head, but his fingers twist impatiently in the sheets, eager to touch Johannes but refraining while the knife is in his hand.

"Well with Cayde stuck doing the Vanguard role. He's not really around much to fill in the whole. Mentor duty teach others without being barked at for leaving his place at the table. I guess that'll change since y'know.. the towers blown to pieces." Mist watched Selene jump.. rather unsuccessfully to her ship. When she witnessed the slip, Mists hand shot out and gripped Selenes cloak. Slowly lifting and easing the young light into the ships cockpit letting her plop into a cushioned seat haphazardly.
Mist chuckles thoughtfully, watching the younger light get adjusted before she pulled down the hatch. Letting it pressurize, she turned around and sat into her own cushioned seat before pulling down a monitor and clicked away. Scrolling in coordinates manually to her ships positioning and targeting systems. "Maybe after this is all over with, I can take you to the cosmodrome and we can see about getting the basics. But for now," Mist took the controls and steered the ship above the tree line before punching it. Letting the onboard guide jump them to Earth. "Lets focus on what ever 'plan' Zavala has....." The annoyance in Mists voice was laid on thick... - The Farm
- With the ship landed and stationed nearby, Mist had spoken with Cayde about her plan. She had her arms crossed to her chest, Caydes brows rose and he smiled. Passing off a pack of ammo to her before she nodded at him. "Take care, Six." "Yeah Yeah just teach the kid something useful." Cayde teased as he moseyed back into the barn. Mist tossed the pack of ammo a few times in her hand. "Well Caydes given the official... unofficial- official sign off to take you with me into the City. But first. Gun lesson," Mist started talking as she made her way back over to Selene. Recognizing the same uneasiness. A smile tugged at Mists lips behind her mask. "It's okay to be nervous." Her voice chimed reassuringly. Mist pulled something from her back revealing a sniper rifle from her personal inventory. "This is the last foray. A good sniper, if you know how to use it. Also deadly." Mist took the gun holding it vertical and touching certain parts. "Stock, barrel, scope, magazine, grip, trigger and safetu. Receivers those you can attach legs to if you fire from a laying position." Mist goes over it rather easily and quickly. "As you know were going up against Cabal. Each one has their own weak points. Psions the middle eye, Legionaries and Gladiators is around the seam of their helmets. Colosi and Centurions are the same but a bit harder. They're higher ranks and have better armor." Mist held out the sniper to Selene for her to get a feel of the weapon. "So, until night sets in tomorrow. We're gonna line some things up for you to shoot, after that. While we distract the masses to a certain area. We'll circle around and rejoin Cayde and the others after knocking a few around to cause some mischief." Cayde had walked over behind the two watching the lesson quietly, a little smug look over his exo face. Mist mimicked Selene pretending to hold up the gun she handed over. "Keep the stock in the crook of your shoulder, and as your looking down the sight keep both your eyes open to focus where you want to shoot. Take a deep breath in, hold steady and firm. Focus, breath slowly. And always pull the trigger on empty lungs." Mist lowered her arms and took a few steps forward looking around for a moment. Picking up a few cans and other things that were littered across the ground before setting them up a small distance away. "Use the scope and try hitting these. G'head take the safety off." Mist quickly moved out of the way her cape dragging behind her as she moved. Cayde was watching the show rather happily.
When the younger hunter finally smiles, a little warmth radiated in Mists chest. Finally seeing some emotion other than Selenes fear filled frown. Happy she was starting to loosen up around her. Mist agrees, nodding her head once, "Cayde back to his fireteam; as much as he doesn't want to admit to having one." Mist waves her right hand in the air a few times gesturing to the absurdity to Caydes actions. Even if the exo wasn't there. When drawn back to the sniper. Mist placed her hands on her hips. "Well, it's time someone taught you." Mist nodded her head once, "Most guns, are good for close combat like.. shotguns, side arms and hand cannons. I use hand cannons mostly.. But sniper? You can decimate a field and not even be anywhere near a fight." Mist lifted then lowered her hands, "Not expensive if someone gives you a sniper rifle." her ship swerving around the trees and meeting close enough. The hunter jumped through the air using a blast of light to launch herself into the hatch that happens to open as she flies nearby. She turns her body, cloak in hand behind her tilting her head twice for the other to join her. "C'mon. No scenic routes tonight. When we get to the city, I'll give you a brief run through on how to shoot a sniper and then we'll see how good you can pick up new tricks," Mist smiles her helmet shifting back over her face tugging her hood up.

WHY isn't a Ferrocell in EVERY science class to show WHAT magnetism truly is & the important Phi-llotaxis geometry it represents as it's seen in nature ALL around us?
The occult cabal that controls these Fields DON'T want us to know & understand WHAT magnetism, Electricity, FREQUENCY & Light truly is & how these things relate to our HEALTH!
WEAPONIZED against us to make us sick, make $ off us for 'Treatment' & keep us WEAK to prevent us from reaching our true potential intended for us by God.
[They] are obsessed with God's elements of creation that build the universe. The symbols [They] stole, represent these ingredients.
Those ingredients were also used to construct all of you.
"Gravity" / Electro-static acceleration -> magnetic attraction <- static electricity, electricity, DNA, Light are ALL the same, just different pressure & torsion modalities. Like ice & steam is still WATER." - - Ken Wheeler
Recognize this pattern anywhere?
It's only seen EVERYWHERE in nature, and as a result, mimicked in occult symbolism & logos of cabal corporations.
"Magnetism" is responsible for 100% of the visible universe.

Head canons about turian biotics, because I think about this entirely too much:
-There’s a saying: “From the Terminus they come, to the Terminus they return”.
Hierarchy born biotics are fairly rare because of the Hierarchy’s strict safety standards. (Fairly certain I’m stealing that from somewhere, but I can’t recall whose idea it was.)
So many of the Cabal recruits are from the Terminus; many join to have a biotic implant safely installed (“safe” operations in the Terminus varies widely) and for training.
After a stint in the Cabals, many leave for the Terminus again – including many Hiearchy born biotics. They’ve grown attached to their comrades, and biotics are rejected by turians everywhere so might as well stay with the people you’re close too...
The Hierarchy has a huge biotic drain problem. There are more turian biotics than most people realize; most just aren’t in C-Space.
-A side-effect of many biotics coming from the Terminus and many leaving for it is that the Cabals have a good information network. They frequently know about events or hear whispers of what will occur prior to Hierarchy intelligence.
They may or may not give the Hierarchy a heads up in advance, depending on what it involves. Sometimes this involved anonymous messages to Hierarchy intelligence.
This appearance of precognition does not help the reputation of biotics.
-Biotic enclaves are common across turian space, both C-Space and Terminus.
Biotics tend to live in the same neighborhoods or on space stations dominated by biotics nearby turian worlds.
Biotic kids are frequently rejected by their families or iced out, and many find their ways to their enclaves for training and a safe place to live. Or are picked up and brought to them by adult biotics.
Their mentors frequently spent time in the Cabals, and encourage young biotics to join.
-Biotics tend to have a different view on territory than other turians.
Most turians are innately territorial to varying extents; the Hierarchy puts a lot of effort into drilling into its citizens that their “territory” should include the entire Hierarchy.
Biotics – othered by society, frequently forced to leave their childhood home because they’ve been rejected – tend to be far less territorial about a place than others. Their territorialness is more likely to be directed at groups of people.
This ambivalence is one of the reasons why other turians tend to reject biotics: Their lack of territorialness about a place marks them as “not-pack” and viewed as suspicious. And so the cycle self-perpetrates.
-Many biotics have ambivalent feelings towards the Hierarchy, regardless of where they were born.
They don’t have the patriotism many native-born non-biotic Hierarchy citizens do, but they appreciate the safety it provides to biotics.
That lingers even if many leave for the Terminus after a Cabal stint.
-The exchange of biotics to and from the Terminus Systems means that if the Hierarchy knows where to look, they can frequently find friendly (or at least non-hostile) faces in the Terminus Systems.
Former Cabals may be reluctant, but they can often be grudgingly talked into assisting the Hierarchy on matters that aren’t a threat to their society. For example, in hunting down slavers or pirates.
Most Hierarchy personnel are completely unaware of this; Cabals, however, are and it’s one of the reasons why they have such a high success rate in Terminus missions.
-Late-developing biotics have a difficult time integrating into biotic society.
Biotics tend to be tight-knit, since others are wary and suspicious of them. They have a subculture of their own with language, etiquette, etc. A basic level of skill with your biotics – enough to not be a danger to those around you – is expected.
Late-developing biotics are not familiar with this and many struggle with accepting their new abilities. They don’t want to integrate with these people they still don’t trust, don’t want to learn a new culture, and don’t want to train these new talents they never asked for. The struggle with being rejected by friends and family.
Biotics who have dealt with this their whole life tend to have little patience for this. This is just what life is for biotics; get used to it.
Some late-developing biotics do adapt and integrate into biotic enclaves; many do not and spend the rest of their lives on the fringes of both biotic and non-biotic turian society.
-As a follow up, this is why many late-developing biotics transferred to the Cabals leave Hierarchy service quickly.
The Cabals are first and foremost a biotic specialist unit; to rise in the ranks you need to be a skilled biotic, and preferably strong.
Late-developing biotics have to learn these skills from scratch, and are often frustrated that their former skills (engineer, sniper, etc.) aren’t highly valued. Their rank often doesn’t transfer either, or at best is stalled – they don’t have the biotic skills necessary for it in the Cabals, and it will take them years to catch up.
So many leave ASAP. Their units are frequently relieved to be rid of them.
The Hierarchy has a big problem with retaining biotics.

I know I'm gonna hit a sensitive spot with this because many people stan azriel and nesta's relationship, wether is platonic or romantic, (and don't get me wrong, i love azriel too) but i struggle to see him having a stable future with nesta beyond friendship, and that itself is fragile already.
my main problem with azriel is that he IS the nicest one to nesta in the ic, but that's only because he's the only one that doesn't outright insult her and he just treats her with basic decency, something the ic clearly lacks when it comes to nesta. we're so used to see her being mistreated that the moment someone does the bare fucking minimum, we put them on a pedestal. in short, the bar is in HELL.
Azriel cares for Nesta, I don't deny it, but he could (and should) DO MORE. He could stand up to her more often, he could argue with cassian when he oversteps, he could comfort nesta after she's been made miserable once again. But no. Instead we see him hiding a smile when he thinks cassian pushed her down the stairs, we see him purposedly making her bag heavier for the hike and overall just being a silent complicit in her abuse. He doesn't actively participate in it, but does nothing to stop it either. It could be because he doesn't dare to...but canon compliant, I think part of him agrees that nesta deserves it, just doesn't say it to her face.
In order for me to see them together, I need to see Azriel groveling in regret. I need him to see nesta thriving and being happy away from them, finally seeing what he had lost. As a friend or as a lover, i dont care. I want him to see nesta's friends defending her openly and standing up to her, realizing his own cowardy for not doing it himself. At last, I want nesta to call him out between tears for his innaction, to throw in his face how he just stood there and did nothing, making him drown in shame.
And then he understands his mistakes, makes up for it and they reconcile with an emotional hug, making it all better. But FIRST I need to see the previous stuff
(sorry for dumping on you i really love azriel but he frustrates me when i read him)
Az has portrayed a base level of decency and I’d argue he was actually kind to Nes in Hofas (minus the Ember bonus chapter 💀).
The bar is literally so far beyond Hel.
Then again, he’s the only IC member I have hope is a semi-decent person. I would love to believe that he cares dearly for Nes and sees some of himself in her. Perhaps that is what’s been stopping him—if he stands up for Nes, he’d have to contemplate why he hasn’t stood up for himself. As horrible as that sounds, he feels like the odd one out of the Rat Boys. I just don’t know if he’s built up the courage to face his own fears—whether that be losing the IC, ending up alone, or the fear of what Rhysand will do to him, I couldn’t say.
I want to get in his head. Truly.
Side note: I have many interwoven theories regarding the future of Nes, Valks, Rat Boys, Elain, and so on. I think chaos will break the IC apart and Az will let everything out.
Again, he is the ONLY one I have hope for in Rhysand’s cabal. I get what you mean though. Az’s lack of interference in Nes’ case is seen as less than compared to the IC’s cruel deeds.
But complacency is just as bad as dealing out punishment.
And don’t be sorry for sending this ask! Friendly debate and conversation is all I ask for. 🙂

Cynthia has been watching Tormod for a while.
Not in a creepy, sinister, or stalker way, of course. He’s hard to miss. He’s loud, and talkative, and perhaps a bit of a braggart. It’s an energy that Cynthia can get behind. That isn’t the only thing that catches her attention, though he’s hard not to pay attention to.
He talks a lot about home. The weird part is that she understands him, in a sense. She doesn’t know what a lahgooz is, or whatever else he’s talking about, but she gets what he’s saying. He fought too young in a war he shouldn’t have had to fight. She gets that. And she likes his energy. Really, there’s only one thing to do.
“Tormod!” she shouts right as class ends. “Hey, we gotta talk.”
She leads the way out of the classroom, leading him somewhere quiet. It might not be a big secret but, eh, this is a much cooler way of doing things. There’s an air of mystery to it, rather than yelling at him directly.
“So. I wanted to talk to you, because I think you’re great.” She stops for a second, and realises exactly how this must look. “Not in any way beyond, you know, potential-friend-to-potential-friend! No, scratch that, friend-to-friend.” They’ve exchanged exactly no words so far, but that doesn’t matter; she’s had friendships with people who downright despite her before.
“Have you ever thought about joining the fight for justice?”

Rewatching bits and pieces of Destiny 1 Year 1 campaign and thoughts occurred during the introduction of the Sovs. Everything looks a bit run down, and the Uldren's armor is a far cry from the fancy duds he had in D2. Do we know if the Dreaming City already existed at this point, or is their anything in the background talking about how this was some kind of deception/bluff to hide the Awoken's capabilities from the Vanguard?
The Dreaming City was made fairly early on, so it existed at the time, just hidden. It was mostly hidden because it's a sort of sacred place to the Awoken, but also because it was Riven's prison as well. The run down vibe of the Reef is definitely a part of the whole secrecy that Mara always projects; it's best if no one knows everything the Awoken have at their disposal, especially as they were coming closer to the confrontation with Oryx.
Also consider that the Reef was the first home of the Awoken as they returned from the Distributary. They made it with what little they had in terms of technology, in an inhospitable and barren place. The vibe definitely reflects that as well, life in near vacuum on asteroids and debris. The construction of a settlement began right away as soon as they got to the Reef, so the place is old:
Mara calls a caucus of elected representatives in the Sacred Fire, one of the largest hulks in the reef of derelicts. The Fire was built to support habitat construction on 4 Vesta, where Mara hopes to one day anchor the entire flotilla and set down roots—but the hopeful, fearful faces before her make Mara afraid that it'll never happen.
The early Awoken settlements are all around or near the asteroid Vesta, with the Vestian Outpost being a sort of a port of entry to the rest of the Awoken space. The Dreaming City must've been constructed on or partially from Vesta, due to the location names; Rheasilvia is a crater on Vesta, and Divalian Mists is named after another feature on the asteroid (irl!)
Here's Mara telling Uldren to go find her something that will help her make a proper city, so that her people can live on something more than just the debris and asteroid space of Vesta (this also hints at the secrecy of it all, as she specified needing a power no one would know about after Uldren suggested that making one city would be a vulnerability):
"Brother," she said, "never again can I allow my people to be divided. We must offer them more than shielding ice and cold habitat cylinders and the warrens of Vesta. We must make a culture, a thread that binds us all in pride and wonder at the mystery of ourselves. Nowhere does culture flourish better than in a city." "Gather in one place," Uldren warned her, "and you make yourself a target." Mara had considered this, and found an answer. "Go forth and find me a power unknown to all the other powers of this world. Return it to me, and I shall make of it the cornerstone of my new city, where the Awoken shall dream of all they have been and all that is yet to come."
He returns with Riven! This is shortly after the Awoken were divided into Reefborn and Earthborn. It's not super clear when this is all happening, but it's relatively early after their return from the Distributary and definitely long before the events of the first game. A sort of rough timeline of events is mentioned here, if it can be trusted:
Later would come Eris Morn, Osiris, Toland, and all the other accessories of the majestic suicide. Later would come the Reef's tentative entanglements with Vex and Cabal, Fallen and Hive, and the fateful decision to intervene when the House of Wolves turned Earthward to conquer the Last Human City. Later, there would be stories here untold, the Ahamkara and the subcreation of the Dreaming City, the shatterstone fury of the Reef Wars, brother Uldren's journeys into that fell garden...
This would put it at some point around or before the Twilight Gap and the Reef Wars. It's definitely been around for a while, but well-hidden to prevent anyone from getting too close to that sacred space, and to hide Riven's existence. Secrecy was a major component of the look of the Vestian Outpost and other Awoken spaces in the Reef, but the look also reflects their age too.
