The Mighty Nein, a party of adventurers, relatively powerful and minorly magical, rolling up to a Harvest Festival and promptly:
Their warlock hit a young mother in the face with a beanbag
He then tore another beanbag on his own breastplate and spilled sand all over himself
Then the two buff ladies in the party (both stronger than him) threw him face-first into the carpet while trying to help him throw the beanbag better
A blue tiefling throwing a beanbag straight up in the air and getting it caught on her horn
A terrifyingly large buff woman with a giant sword throwing a bean bag approximately four feet
Their sneaky disguised goblin friend got clocked as a goblin at the literal first booth she went to
The buff ladies from before walk over to and promptly shut down an intentionally impossible strength game by soundly beating it twice in a row
The blue tiefling buying out the entirety of the stock of caramel apples as soon as they come out of the oven and passing them out to her adult friends
The purple tiefling buying an obnoxiously large tapestry with gaudy religious iconography with probable chaotic intent
The definitely-not-a-goblin girl absolutely demolishing an archery game and then proceeding to discuss with her friend how best to eat the live rats she won
The large muscley lady beating the army's strongest fighter in an arm-wrestling contest.
The blue tiefling (old woman disguise edition) vandalizing a temple with large pink painted hearts, then scurrying out giggling
Receiving two (2) individual invitations to join the army, and then one (1) individual invitation to join a mercenary group

got to c2e17 on my rewatch and, righteous brand entry recruit soldiers get a base pay of a gold a day? and that's on top of covered housing and food and equipment
Caleb, I love you and I know you like dramatic flair, but your father was a righteous brand soldier. you're stretching a lil bit with that "MY parents never made 50 gold in their lives" Granted it'd be like a month's wages and the moment was warranted, but still
Imagine Caleb pulling that around intelligence networkers Beau or Essek (though granted Essek has called 25 gold of spell components expensive) and them like "??? I thought your dad was a soldier? isn't the salary higher than that?" pedantic factcheckers Essek and Beau feels like a great dynamic for those two, they can bond over infodropping and theorizing

So I'm watching the second Critical Role Campaign right now and I'm at the Harvest Festival (ep 17) and it's far too late, I should really go to sleep but I can't stop watching. I have already manically cackled out loud about 20 times; this episode is a fever dream and I love every second of it.
Just... Fjord with the fucking triple nat 1 at the trebuchet was already perfect and Jester and Yasha just yeeting him into the ground had me in tears.
Molly buying that carpet and being like "I have such big plans with this" and NOT ELABORATING - peak Molly energy.
Caleb, certified nerd at the shooting range with Nott as his feral little daughter. Wonderful. Their dynamic in general is so pure here. I mean, it always is and I love them, but when they're happy and getting into shenanigans together, it does things to my heart. I want all the happiness for them. Also: "Oh no, Caleb, I lost your silver piece :(" - "Yes, but you just lend me 200 gold yesterday, it's all good." - "but thE PRINCIPLE!!!"
And then just now the fucking weirdest conversation between Nott and Yasha about eating rats happened, there are actual tears in my eyes, what the FUCK?! I love them s o much.
I kinda just needed to scream this into the void because I'm having the time of my life here. Maybe some older critters will find this enjoyable.

More moments I’m looking forward to!
Trebuchet. And the rest of the harvest close festival too but like… [C2e17]
“So Jester, Yasha, how do you want to do this?”

love that travis and ashley’s character dynamics have gone from “best buddies grog and pike <3” to “fjord and yasha rarely interact” to “if fearne and chetney don’t fuck in the next 3 episodes they will actually die”

I find it so interesting how I was immediately endeared to Vax but it’s taken some time for Caleb to grow on me as a character, the talent of Liam O’Brien knows no bounds but I was almost frustrated going from this intense love and adoration I had for Vax to not feeling much of anything for Caleb, and now I’m like, weirdly invested in his character and whatever he’s got going on. Getting into campaign 2 after campaign 1 was a little challenging for me but the more the party interacts with each other and even NPCs, the more I like them all.

rewatching harvest close and thinking how narratively adorable it is that fjord canonically doesn’t like sweets and ends up falling for the living embodiment of a sweet tooth

I’ve reached Harvest Close in my rewatch and it remains one of my absolute favorites. It’s such a wonderful lighthearted episode and everybody’s having fun and it puts such a huge smile on my face.

the image of yasha being like "ok i will play this game." casually RAGING out of nowhere and swinging a hammer harder than anyone else has that morning. taking the gold she won and going "ok now it's her turn" and handing the hammer to jester, who was in the middle of saying "omg we can buy so many candied apples with that!" jester looks at the hammer and goes "ok all right." swings one (1) time and ALSO wins, perhaps with even more ease than yasha. goes "yay!" and just happily skips away. yasha quietly and casually follows

alright so caleb just made yasha twice her size.... and yes that is very cool and all (i love yasha so much and i am swooning) BUT when is he going to make nott twice her size. yasha is like 5'11, right? and nott is like 3 feet tall. sooooo...... if caleb were to use that spell on nott......... then nott would be a fucking inch taller than yasha holy shit.
