okay BUT think about the way Shanks acts when you kiss him. The way he giggles into it at first, grinning against your lips with all the playful, casual joy that made you fall in love with him to begin with.

The way he wraps his arm around you, pulls you close, hums softly when it's clear you're not letting go, the way he breathes so slowly as the weight of it settles in his chest, soft and warm and soothing. The way he seems to pull all the breath out of you when he deepens it, the way the wind seems to tug at you like the whole world turns on your shared heartbeat.

think about the way his eyes glisten with something so tender it's almost wounded when you pull away just enough to tell him you love him. that of every soul alive and every treasure at sea, he's the one you want.

think about how Shanks is so easy and indulgent and giving with his affection, but rocked to his core by how freely and honestly you give him yours.

1) law/asl stepbrothers is hysterical 2) i’ve read three fics for this ship and they’re all adorable 3) shanks takes one look at this 10 ft blond setting himself on fire and thinks “i can’t NOT marry him.”

Objectively could be a half decent ship (dad that stepped up x dad that stepped up (kind of, in respect to shanks saving Luffys life but not being an active father figure in his life). They’re both kind of goofy albeit serious when the situation calls for it and I feel like they’d bond over their love of their kind of stupid sons who they sacrificed a part (or all) of themselves for. However only really probably in a fixit au where Cora survives somehow (??) and then maybe meets shanks through Luffy and law??? I haven’t thought this through honestly they were just the first to jump to mind because as someone who enjoys a good time travel fic I have seen the pairing a fair amount.

I think they are cute and they can bond over being mentors to insane D kids.

Look you can't tell me that these two goofballs wouldn't hit it off immediately and gush about their adorable sons. And the minute someone threatens any of their kids, the goofball switch is flipped and they'll destroy anything in their way.

They are about the same age and can bond over trying to be father figures to insane Ds.

In hindsight attempting to wrestle with a seaking hadn't been his brightest idea, but he had been utterly drunk at this point and it had sounded like a fun thing to do. It hadn't even been the first time and he had assured everyone that he would be fine.

What he hadn't expected however was that the damned thing wasn't in the mood for it at all and had more or less taken him with him. Which was how he had ended up on the current island, soaked to the bone and slightly freezing too as he trudged along the edges, hoping to find some sort of civilisation. It would be easier if he could wait in a town for his crew to pick him back up. Benn had his vivre card, so he would where Shanks had ended up. It was just a question of how long it would take them.

Another shiver run through him as the cold air of the night hit him. He needed to get out of these wet clothes and fast if he didn't want to catch a cold. At least whatever island he had ended up wasn't a winter island.

His face lit up when he saw lights in the distance, indicating that there was a small port town nearby. Jackpot! There was bound to be a tavern too. A place he could warm up, maybe even get a room too. He didn't have any money on him right now, but that wasn't a problem. He had used his charm often enough to get some things for free. Nevermind that he could still pay up once his crew arrived.

His steps speed up slightly and he draws his wet cloak a bit tighter around him, making sure to conceal his missing arm for now. Like he had suspected the tavern is easily found and he walks in, not caring that he leaves drops of water behind as he makes his way towards the bar, flopping down on the only free bar stool. "Do me a favor and give me the strongest alcohol you have. Need to warm up." The grunt he receives is enough of an confirmation for him.

It's only now that he turns to look at the person seated to his right. A woman with dark hair. He gives her his usual charming smile. "Sorry for the messy appearance, had a rather unpleasant encounter earlier." Which was definitely his own fault. "If I buy you a drink, would you be so kind and tell me in return on which island exactly I ended up here?"

Shanks is a little wild, a little silly and is made up of -1 arm, 90% booze, 6% potential deadbeat supportive father, 2% graveyard because he's a ghost like where is he AT and 2% flowy cape. Iceberg? This man can HANDLE that, he grew up alongside FRANKY OF ALL PEOPLE he can handle a silly drunken pirate man. Drinking buddies at first perhaps and then it progresses into something more. Maybe they're just fooling around, maybe it's something more but I am telling you there's something that could blossom in these seas!
