The news had been covering his discovery almost nonstop with mixed reception from newscasters and viewers alike, which had started to skew into the negative. While there were still people that were glad he was found alive thanks to a hospital visit, the news accentuated and emphasized the hate and vitriol the former detective was receiving.

It made it hard to go out.It would make it hard to get a job.

Akechi sat alone in his motel room and turned off the TV, unable to bear listening to those insufferable hosts any longer.

Phone in hand, he brought up Makoto's contact information, then took a very deep breath, and slow exhale...

Then pressed 'call'.

Regret filled him instantly and he wanted to throw his phone across the room, but refrained. Makoto was the first one to visit him in the rehab center. Actually...she was the only one to ever do that.

He closed his eyes, listening to the ringing and his heart pounding in his ears.

And yet, the second to last didn't die by her hand nor by the bleeding she inflicted upon it. The last one tried to run, and before she could reach him, cold iron darts went right past her again, impaling him to a tree and returning to her wounded friend as they recalled them back. Invisibility on her didn't drop as it had on who accompanied her on that mission... making them an easy target.

"I was trying to save you. Is this how you repay me?" Things were becoming a blur, but she clearly felt her arm move. One, defined strike was all it would have taken. She knew since the beginning.

She wasn't able to hold back from finishing the job.

In the past 4 weeks I've been uh going through it a bit.

I'm surviving but it feels like I'm one bad thing away from just falling over. Anyway! I'm lucky to have what I do. And I'll be fine, I always am lol.
