Victoria: You’re like a boring old man, Trissy; you never come out anymore. Tristen: You know why I don’t. Victoria: Tch, aren’t you over that yet?
[Tristen pauses, clearly dumbfounded that anyone would even ask that kind of question] Victoria: You could at least take me to this stupid wedding, I bought a new outfit. Tristen: I told you not to, I don’t get a plus one-.. besides, you don’t even know them; I’m barely gonna know anyone there either.
Victoria: So, take me! Or, come out with us instead. Tristen: We’ll do something when I get back-.. or the day after, I promise. Victoria: [huffs] If you don’t wanna be seen with me, you could just say so.
Tristen: [sighs] That’s not what I-.. Vicky, wait! Victoria: Whatever, I-… [Matilda surreptitiously slides her boot toward Victoria as she storms off, successfully causing her to stumble]
Victoria: Jesus, watch where you’re putting those ridiculous boots! Matilda: My bad. Victoria: Stupid bitch-.. why don’t you buy some proper shoes, huh?
Matilda: Are those platform flip-flops? Victoria: Pfft. Matilda: Nice retort.
Tristen: You shouldn’t have done that. Matilda: I can handle moody twats-.. y’know, since I am one. Tristen: That’s.. not what I meant.
Matilda: Hm, ‘cause you’ll get it in the neck later? Tristen: [shrugs] I hope you didn’t want anything; I’ve already cleaned the machines n’ stuff. Matilda: Are you closing up?
Tristen: I’m trying to. Matilda: Do you need a hand? Tristen: It’s fine, I’m just waiting for those two-…
Matilda: Yeah, that’s what I was getting at. [Tristen visibly cringes as Matilda loudly claps her hands together, shooing the loitering customers] Matilda: C’mon losers, closing time! Beat it!
Tristen: You don’t have to; I’ll just ride my bike. Matilda: In a suit? Oscar would kill me if I made you cycle to his wedding. Tristen: That’s probably true-.. alright, thanks.
Matilda: I didn’t know you lived back here-.. makes sense. Tristen: See? Not a creepy stalker. Matilda: I mean, you still could be.
Tristen: Well, I’m not. Matilda: You know I’m just fucking with you, right? I don’t actually think that. Tristen: I kinda thought you meant it…
Matilda: Eh, I say and do a lotta shit I don’t really mean. I’m working on it. Tristen: Good luck with that-.. not sarcasm, sorry. Matilda: [snorts] Be ready at twelve.

G here and honestly, thank you so much. I’m glad you like my ramblings about Gabriel and honestly, having someone to talk about these sort of things really makes me happy and I’m glad people love my ideas and drabbles and that it make others happy and intrigued too. I also really appreciate you not tagging me, I’m still not ready to go out of anonymity. Anyways, I unfortunately haven’t started writing yet because I’ve been busy with a lot of stuff and there’s things I need to do but here’s something to add a bit more lore in Ore siblings, enjoy:
“Thank you so much for saving us sir, we would have been dead were it not for you!” The person bowed profusely and thankfully to which Gabriel chuckled and shook his head in response, “It’s truly not a problem, I am simply grateful that I was here to help.”
“I gotta admit, this place is crazy!” Another person exclaimed excitedly as the group distributed keys to each other, “You said it’s called a trial chamber?”
“Yes, it is a large dungeon with unique mob spawners and loot.” Gabriel explained, inserting his key into the a vault. “And once the room is clear of mobs, you are granted a trial key to open these vaults.”
“Amazing, you must have went through a buncha these kinds of trial chambers!” The first person grinned and Gabriel could only give a sentimental smile in response, “I suppose you could say that…”
“Guys! Check out this sick smithing template!” Someone else who climbed up to a different vault exclaimed as they held up their reward, their smile as bright and excited as—
“Dion! Dion Dion Dion look at this!” The copper haired girl shouted ecstatically, grinning ear to ear as she waves down from the platform she was standing on.
“Cooper, do be careful not to fall.” Another voice cuts in, smooth, clear and soothing, almost echoing across the trial chamber.
“I know Quartzy I’m not gonna do that!” Cooper rolled her eyes as she gets down from the platform the ominous vault was on before rushing towards her older siblings, her arms outstretched to show a music disc in hand, “But check this out! I found this disc in the ominous vault, it looks different than the other disc we found in the pot even though it is made of the same material and quite similar in appearance as opposed to the music disc we received in a standard vault, therefore this disc is perhaps even older than the previous two and could be an original-“
“Now wait for us Cooper, we wouldn’t want to trigger another trial.” Dion laughed fondly as he gently grabs Cooper from walking away from them into a random corridor. Quartz giggles as well, sauntering up to the two before suggesting, “How about we resurface back? We can listen to the music disc there and see if it is similar to the one we discovered earlier and compare them in detail.”
Cooper’s eyes lit up like the sun, her grin somehow becoming brighter. “Oh yeah good point! C’mon Di! Discovery doesn’t wait!”
“Alright Cooper, let’s go.”
“Cooper?” The sudden voice snapped Gabriel out of his memory, shaking his head before gathering his thoughts and eventually settling on an answer, “Ah, do not mind me. I am just, reminded of someone…”
As Gabriel looks back at the excited group he was helping through this trail chamber, a part of his heart ached.
Cooper, Quartz… All his siblings…
Even after all these years, he still grieves.
Totally understand the anonymity part, no need to thank me!! Happy that you received positive emotions from the little show!<3
Poor old man, how many people had he lost? Angst will never leave him, not in this blog at least.
I already love chaotic Cooper! Sweet girl.
Quartz seems like a chill guy, love him too.

...
Alright, let's start! The victim: Elijah from my WIP Crater City
This interview makes a tad more sense if you go read Blair's here. Just for things like context & why Blair is in Elijah's interview.
[warning: brief mentions of blood]
...
A tall man wearing all black save the peak of yellow under his patch-covered jean jacket steps into the room, careful not to smack his head in the doorway. The clunking of his eight-inch platform boots echo against the walls of the small, white concrete room. He is covered in freckles and sports a curly brown undercut with a star shaved above each ear on each side of his head. He eases himself down in the low chair in front of an old wooden table. The only source of light beams from the hanging lightbulb, which swings lazily a few inches above his head. A large one-way mirror is placed in front of him where Blair and I sit watching from a small office. Elijah knows this, and, at Blair’s persuasion from the last interview, decides to give the interview a try. “Are you ready for the interview?” I ask.
[1.] Are you named after anyone?
Elijah: No. Blair: Well, that’s a boring answer.  Elijah: What do you want me to say? Blair: Uh, I dunno, lie and said you were named after someone from a war or something.  Elijah (laughing): Why would I lie about the origin of my name?  Blair: I’m just sayin’, people eat that stuff up.  Me: Perhaps I got his name from a waiter at my favorite restaurant. Or maybe it was Maybelline.  Blair: Who tf is Maybelline? Me: Next question!
[2.] When was the last time you cried?
Elijah: Hm, you know, I actually can’t remember. I think I’m too busy trying to keep myself together for those around me.  Blair: You say that, then turn around and cry when you find a moth in your bathroom. Elijah: Do you have any idea how unpredictable moths are? Anything that can fly instantly has more dimensions it can attack you from, as you stand defenselessly in your shortened range of motion. Plus, that one BobSponge episode.  Blair: It was a butterfly in that episode.  Elijah: Don’t get me started on those. I don’t think any living thing should possess a tongue that long. For what? Making every time I see a butterfly sipping from a flower feel like I’m barging in on something inappropriate?  Blair (laughing): Good God, Elijah, is that really what you think about when you see a butterfly?  Elijah (touching his forehead): Yes, unfortunately.
[3.] Do you have kids?
Elijah: No, I’m 24 and I’d like to keep it that way.  Blair: Aw, c’mon, I’ve seen you get along well with my little cousins. In fact, their parents keep asking for you every time I attend a family reunion because you’re such a good role model. Elijah: That’s on you, because you keep instigating the children and I’m the one who has to pull you aside and remind you that they’re only, like, six and have no concept of the law.  Blair: Ok, fair point.
[4.] Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Elijah: I used to be told my deadpan reminds people of my uncle. So, I try to steer clear from that. Or, I try to act more obviously sarcastic.  Blair: Elijah gives a mean death glare. Sends shivers down my spine. Elijah: Yeah… Elijah (fidgeting): … Elijah: Can we move on to the next question, please?
[5.] What's the first thing you notice about people?
Elijah: If they are someone I should be extra careful around. I check for badges, patches, weapons, and body language.  Blair: Damn, really? Elijah (chuckling awkwardly): Oh, no, like, yeah…? Doesn’t everyone do this? The city is a dangerous place…!  Blair: Yeah, I can agree with that.
[6.] What's your eye colour?
Elijah: Brow– Blair (interrupting): Brown but like in a caramel way right before you overcook it and it boils over.  Elijah: Thanks, Blair.  Blair: You’re welcome. No need for a mirror when you got me.  Elijah: Why would I need a mirror to remind me of my eye colo—oh, nevermind…
[7.] Scary movies or happy endings?
Elijah: Scary movies. But nothing like true crime. Slashers or movies with crappy special effects are fine. Blood on TV doesn’t bother me like it does in real life. It’s the true crime that does.  Blair: But I thought you had homophobia? Elijah: Hemophobia. But no, it doesn’t bother me because I know it’s not real. And I can’t smell or feel it through the screen, thankfully.
[8.] Any special talents?
Elijah: Well, I am the most indecisive person on the planet, I can make the most gucci powerpoints you have ever seen (complete with special effects and animations), I can type at around 200 wpm, and I can down six energy drinks in one sitting without dying.  Blair: All I hear is computer nerd in four different languages.  Elijah (laughing): You act like you haven’t done the same. I’ve seen you the night before finals. Blair: I’m actually surprised you haven't combusted into 57 varieties and flavors from all that caffeine yet. Elijah: Took me years to get where I am now. You are but a young grasshopper in comparison.
[9.] Where were you born?
Elijah: In Crater City in a well-off neighborhood. Born to a father who couldn’t give a rat’s ass about me as a person and a mother who just went along with whatever he said. They spent more money on vacations than my childhood expenses, while leaving me to hang with my uncle, who I also blame for my shitty upbringing. They all owe me therapy. Blair (suddenly with popcorn in his hands): Tell ‘em, Elijah!
[10.] What are your hobbies?
Elijah (listing off): I like coding, playing video games, skateboarding, playing my guitar… Blair (mimicking his cadence): He even writes his own songs, but every time you ask him he acts clueless… Elijah: I never told you I wrote songs. Blair (continuing): Maybe I accidentally read his music book and a slip of paper fell out… Elijah (turning red): Hey! Me (suddenly eating popcorn): What does he write about? Blair: Oh, you know, like childhood angst. And women with red hair. And sentimental songs about-- Elijah: Enough! Enough! Next question, or I swear to god--!
[11.] Do you have any pets?
Elijah: Yes! My hamster No-Clip. Blair talked about him in his interview. He’s a little guy who has a thing for cheddar chips and making a nest in my computer monitor. The hamster, I mean. Not Blair.  Blair: Yeah.  Elijah: It’s gotten to the point where I have to put away my entire computer set up or else I find chip crumbs on my equipment because of him. Blair, I mean. He’s the one feeding No-Clip too many treats.  Blair: Elijah now has a no-chip policy in his apartment.
[12.] What sports do you play/have you played?
Elijah: Badminton, tennis, volleyball, soccer, archery, martial arts, and… (mumbling) esports Blair (laughing): What was that last one? Elijah: Esports, ok! Don't you laugh at me like that. You’re the one who talked me into it.  Blair: Elijah would have won an entire tournament if it weren’t for the power going out that one time.  Elijah: I forgot to pay the bills once. Blair: Man was ruthlessly beating these plebeians. It was like going up against my little cousins. Well, if my cousins had beards and lived in VR.  Me: You played so many sports! Elijah: Huh? Oh, yeah. But it’s not like my parents paid for any of it growing up. Or showed up to any of the matches for that matter.
[13.] How tall are you?
Elijah: Five feet and eleven inches.  Me: Fun fact: Elijah is one inch below the average height in his universe! Which is much taller than the average in our universe.  Elijah (laughing): Must be all that “meat” they fed us as kids.  Blair: Remember “real meat” day in high school? Elijah (sarcastically): What a delicacy.  Blair: Yeah, but they were really just serving us whatever leftover “meat” they had from that week with extra spices to cover up the texture and flavor.
[14.] Favourite subject in school?
Elijah: Math, because of how easy it is. I don’t care if a problem has one or fifty solutions, at least I know there is a promised way to get there. Well, for the most part. Elijah: It also lets me do this. Elijah: Hey, Blair. Blair (snapping out of a daydream): Huh? Elijah: Are you part of a group of primes that differ by six? Blair (confused af): What? Elijah: Because you are a sexy prime. Blair (confused whether or not to blush): ???
[15.] Dream job?
Elijah: To be a teacher. There’s just something about giving back to children to make sure they don’t grow up with a messed up life like I did.  Blair: I thought you said you hated kids a minute ago.  Elijah: No, I don’t hate kids; I just don’t want to have any. I don’t think I could have any, given the life I have. It would be too dangerous.
Me: Well, that wraps up this interview. Thanks for your participation, Elijah! Don’t forget to pick up your brass knuckles on the way out!
As the lights dim and the rooms empty, I check off another name from the list. It seems we are diving deeper into the “lore” as they say. The next interviewee seems promising. I just hope they can find their way here. Though the interviewing room is located inside of an abandoned bunker underneath a minefield, you have to cut me some slack. The rent is cheap and there are still a lot of people left to interview.

Permanent Vacation
Tumblr media
Summary: Calum falls for a musician.
A/N: I just really wanted an excuse to use Arrows in Action newest releases in a fic. (They’re bangers. You should go give ‘em a listen.)
Word Count: 2.8k
And away, and away we go!
__
The sun was hot as it beat down on my neck, the line for the beerstand long, and the noises of people chatting excitedly were loud in my ears. But I didn’t care in the slightest. After the isolating shitshow that was quarantine, I was more than happy to be out at a festival with, wait for it, live fuckin’ music. The only way I could be happier was if my band was in the lineup, but this was still a pretty close second. To be surrounded by musicians and people who loved music was a breath of fresh air after so long. A breath of very hot fresh air. But still.
Behind me I heard the girlish giggling and whispers of my name, which drew the attention of the group in front of me: three guys, and a girl around my own age, two of the guys a good shoulder and head taller than the other man and girl. The shortest of the guys whispered, “Could you imagine if we got noticed like that?”
The tall brunette’s eyes went wide as he pulled a face and shook his head. “No, thanks. I think I’d cry.”
The other tall one with purple hair laughed loudly, “Aw, c’mon, that would be rad! His band’s not even in the lineup and he still gets recognized. Could you imagine?”
“He has a name, and can hear you, J,” the girl hissed with a playful eye roll. Then, she flashed me a smile before calling out in a loud voice, “Hey, man! Good to see ya! How ya been?” to me, before taking a step forward and stretching up to wrap her arm around my shoulders like we were old friends. “Just go with it,” she added under her breath. “Nobody’ll bug you for pictures and autographs if you’re with a bigger group.”
“Thanks,” I laughed at her rescue attempt. “But it’s fine if they do. I don’t mind.”
“Yeah, but they can at least let you buy a fuckin’ beer first.”
“Well, thanks again,” I said, not sure of what else to say, or do so I let her pull me up with her friends who were all staring at her with I’m sure the same look of soft shock I had on my own face.
“I’m Y/N, by the way.” She let go of me as she started introducing her friends to me. “And this is Jesse.”
“Hello,” the tall one with purple hair smiled warmly.
“That’s Matt,” she nudged the other tall one.
“Hey.”
“And this is Vic,” she finished, looking at the shortest man who waved.
“Nice to meet you guys. I’m Calum,” I said, then realized how stupid that was. “But, you already knew that, huh?”
Y/N grinned, holding her thumb and index finger close together. “Just a smidge. But it’s cool. So, any bands you’re particularly excited to see?”
“The Maine and All Time Low mostly. I’m a huge fan of The Maine, and All Time Low are friends of mine.”
“Both are great bands. And the All Time Low guys are good friends to have, for sure.”
“Oh, you know them?”
“Yeah, we worked with them a few times.”
“Worked with? Fellow musicians, huh?”
She laughed. “We’re up and comers, yeah.”
“Your cool aunt’s favorite band,” Jesse grinned at me.
Y/N laughed more at the confused look that crossed my face. “That’s one of his favorite ways to refer to us. Like we’re the band you find out from word of mouth from the cool relative that’s always discovering new music.”
“Ah,” I said, nodding in understanding. “Been there. Are you guys in the lineup?”
“Yup!” she chirped happily as we got to the front of the line. “5 beers, please,” she told the person working the counter.
“Oh, you don’t have to,” I tried to decline, reaching quickly for my wallet.
“Relax, it’s just a beer,” she told me, passing me one of the cups being placed on the counter.
“Well, thanks,” I said, raising the cup and taking a sip. “I’ll getcha guys next time.”
“I’ll hold you to it,” she grinned around the rim of her own cup. “Enjoy your beer, Cal. See ya around.”
~~~
I took the last swallow from my beer, cursing myself for not having stopped her to get the name of her band, or at the very least her last name. But before I had a chance to get the words out, I’d been bombarded with requests from fans for pictures, engaging in small conversations with them, and by the time I was done, Y/N was long gone.
So I resigned myself to walking around the festival grounds, my head reeling. It wasn’t often a woman pretended to be my friend to rescue me from the onslaught of fans. In fact, I couldn’t recall one time that's ever happened. I also wasn’t used to being bought drinks, even if I was still fully intending to return the favor. Although that would require me to find her first. But something told me that wouldn’t be too difficult.
I was grateful I’d come on my own, and not with Ashton who would have no doubt teased me about how hooked I was on the girl. The cynic with a crush? Whatever were the odds? And was it even technically a crush when I’d only interacted with her for maybe five minutes? Okay, maybe Ashton being around wouldn’t be the worst thing if he could help me make sense of the jumble of thoughts in my head. The way that man could bounce from crush to crush almost seamlessly was enough to give me a case of whiplash.
I sighed as I tossed my cup in the trash. Whether or not it was a crush was still to be determined. All I knew was that I liked her energy, and wanted to see her again. And… that was a crush, wasn’t it? God. Fuckin’. Damn it.
A guitar chord rang out loudly, and there was a mad dash of people running towards the stage. Slowly I pushed my way through the crowd of people towards the front, grinning when I noticed it was her on stage, and grinning even more when I noticed the instrument in her hand. A bassist? Fuck, I was definitely in trouble now.
The shortest of the men, Vic, I recalled, started singing, with the other three providing backup harmony on the chorus. Until they got to the bridge that was all Y/N, her voice ringing out “Tomorrow’s a nightmare, I’m dreaming today. And my head is haunted, the past just can’t stay. The devil you know, yeah he comes and he goes. I’m selfish, and vapid, I hide in my prose!” before they launched into the final chorus.
“What up, Anaheim?!” Vic yelled into his mic to a scream of cheers and applause. “We’re Arrows in Action, and that was our newest single, Only Be Mine. I’m Vic. We got Matt over here on guitar. Jesse’s on the drums. And Y/N’s over there on bass. We got a few more songs for you all. And if you’re an awesome crowd, we might have a special treat for ya at the end of our set. Sound good?”
We answered him in whoops of cheers and loud applause, causing them all to grin as they launched into their next song.
They played seamlessly through about three more songs, enjoying the feeling of playing live in front of people again, before Y/N whooped into her own mic. “Whoo! It’s hot! Anyone else hot? Y’all staying hydrated out there?” she asked us, before flickering her gaze across the stage at Matt who was wiping his forehead. “You good, Matt?”
“Dude, it’s like a million degrees up here,” he commented, before taking a huge swig from a water bottle.
Y/N laughed. “Right. Y’all gotta understand. Matt’s from the cold states. Then there’s Vic and I who are California natives, technically, right Vic?”
“Yeah, I was born here. But I didn’t live here as long as you did.”
“Yeah, that’s what I thought. So Vic and I are used to the heat. Matt, not so much. And Jesse? How you doing back there, J?”
“Me?” the drummer pointed at himself in confusion “Oh, I’m great!”
“Great enough to give this crowd a real surprise?” she asked, her voice laced with playful trouble, as she looked at all her bandmates. “C’mon, boys what do ya say? Wanna give this crowd something special before we go?”
Again, we all cheered and applauded as encouragement for whatever surprise they had in mind. “Alright!” Vic laughed. “Alright, you wanna go ahead and introduce it then?”
She smiled wide as she turned towards us. “Alright, everybody! We’re Arrows in Action. We’ve had a great time with y’all! So, as a thank you, we’re gonna play a new song that we haven’t released yet. Is that cool with you?” She laughed as she awaited the response of screaming, whistles, and applause. “Alright. This is called Permanent Vacation, which will be available on all listening platforms this Friday. Let’s go!”
Matt started playing a series of chords that sounded incredibly familiar, while the other three clapped to the beat. But right before the lyrics were supposed to come in, Vic started talking into his mic. “Wait, wait, wait!” he laughed. “I don’t know the lyrics to this!”
“So it’s just like every other song,” Y/N teased him with her own laugh.
“Nah, I think it’s cuz that one’s not ours.”
“Be rad if it was though,” she said, and I swear she shot me a wink. “Alright, alright. So, that one’s not ours. But this one definitely is. And it’s definitely called Permanent Vacation. And it’s out Friday.”
A new guitar and drum beat started up and Vic immediately started singing, again with the rest of the band providing back up vocals until the bridge where it was all Y/N. A soft build before a wild yell that would have torn my own vocal chords to shreds.
“I’m locked and loaded, fire away! Permanent vacation from my brain. Extend my stay another day. Far from home, not alone,” they all finished with a flurry of chords. “Thank you!” Vic croaked into the mic. “Thank you guys so much! We’re Arrows in Action, enjoy the rest of your night!”
With tired but happy smiles, they all bowed before exiting the stage. I moved to follow, but thought better of it, going to hit the drink stand first where I bought 5 beers and 4 waters. A small challenge, made slightly easier by the person working the stand putting the water bottles in a grocery bag for me. With that hanging off my arm, I held 2 beers in each hand, and my own in my teeth.
“Cal!” she laughed, her face flushed when I found them lounging in the grass. “You didn’t have to do that,” she told me as she rose to her feet to help me distribute the beers.
“I said I’d get the next round,” I offered up simply, setting down the bag and taking a seat with them all. “I brought you guys water, too.”
“You really didn’t have to do that,” she laughed, tossing the bottles out anyway, and sitting back down, this time next to me.
“Shut up, Y/N, let the man do what he wants,” Jesse said, downing a water bottle in 2 gulps before turning his attention to his beer. “You’re rad. Thank you.”
“For real, man. This was really cool of you,” Vic said.
“Yeah, huge thanks,” Matt nodded.
“What they said, I guess,” Y/N laughed again, following Jesse’s lead of downing her water bottle before going for her beer. “Fuck,” she sighed. “That’s good. Thank you, really.”
“Happy to do it,” I answered. “That set was amazing, by the way. And that joke at the end was pretty clever. How long were you planning that?”
She giggled. “Uh, well Jesse and I are much more the 5sos fans than Matt and Vic are. But we’re all familiar with your music. And when we were writing the song, and settled on the title, I suggested that it would be funny to start playing your version if we ever got the chance to play it live. Which meant bugging Matt to learn the guitar parts.”
“So you’re the troublemaker of the band?” I guessed.
She shrugged, and hid behind the rim of her cup. “I mean… Depends on the day.”
We continued to lay in the grass, making small talk as we all finished our beers, before Jesse cleared his throat. “Uh… Matt, Vic. You guys wanna come with me to get a good spot for the rest of the acts?” he asked, the suggestion in his tone heavy.
Matt and Vic shared a look, before nodding. “Yeah, yeah of course,” they said, all three of them getting up.
“You assholes are just gonna leave me?” Y/N asked, looking up at them.
“Just come find us when you’re ready,” they winked. “Thanks again for the beers, Cal.”
“Assholes,” she muttered again as they all made themselves scarce. “Sorry about them.”
I laughed, waving it off. “Nah, it’s cool. And kinda nice, maybe?”
“Oh?” she asked, her eyes wide. “Uh…” her face flushed. “I mean…” she started to stammer. “Yeah. Yeah.”
I gave a half chuckle, scratching at the back of my neck. “Look, it’s fine if you’re not… I mean, I figure you probably are if they did that for you, cuz they have no reason to do it for my sake. I mean, they’re your friends and bandmates, not mine. But I know a wing man set up when I see it. But if it’s more of a meddling wing man set up, like that’s fine,” I spilled out, before realizing I was rambling.
“No!” she rushed. “Oh, no, that’s not what I meant at all!” She covered her face in her hands, groaning “Oh, this is so embarrassing…” Her hands moved to push through her hair as she took a long breath to steady herself. “Of course I like you, Cal. Like before I even met you. One of those embarrassing fangirl crush type of deals. And I mean, I’m a bassist in a punk band, so you’re also someone I idolize and take inspiration from.” Slowly her gaze lifted from her lap to lock onto mine. “And then I met you today. And  you’re everything I thought you’d be. Thoughtful. Generous. A bit shy, and quiet at times. Nice. And it makes the crush that much stronger, and harder to deal with. Cuz now it’s real. And I feel like I know you. And it’s just… Ugh, it spirals from there, ya know?”
“A good spiral, or a bad spiral?”
“Bit of both? Like the insecurities in me say that you’re an A-list celebrity, while I’m more of like… not an A-lister. My band’s not on the same level yours is. I mean, we play bars and small day festivals. You sell out stadiums and have world tours. There’s a clear discrepancy. But then, another part of me doesn’t give a shit about that. It sees how we’re like-minded. It sees all the ways we click, and all the ways we could work. And that’s where the cocky part comes in, where it sees the like-mindedness and the reasons we could work, and calls you an idiot if you can’t see it too. That, uh, screwed up defense mechanism of it being your loss, ya know?”
“Mhm.”
She sighed. “Sorry. I said a lot. Point is, I do like you. And, that’s that.”
“So the ball’s in my court?”
“Only if you want it to be. And if you don’t, then no. There’s no ball. No court. Just two people who have a few things in common.”
“You wanna hear what I think?”
“Go for it.”
“I think your friends left us for 2 reasons. 1 being that they’re loyal to you, and know how you feel about me. 2 being that they’re also guys. Which gives them a pretty good insight for how I’m feeling too.”
“Uh-huh…” she nodded slowly. “And how you’re feeling is…?”
I could have said the words. But I settled for leaning in, brushing my lips softly against hers for the sweetest of moments, listening to the way her next breath got stuck in her throat. I pulled away, smiling softly at her and shrugging my shoulders.
She traced her lips with her thumb, bewilderment written on her face. “Okay, you really didn’t have to do that.”
“Relax,” I chuckled, stealing her words from earlier. “It’s just a kiss.”
“Well, thanks. I’ll, uh, getcha next time.”
“I’ll hold you to that.”
Submission for Writer Wednesday 5/12
Summary: If you're going to talk the talk, you better be able to walk the walk. Or, proof Poe Dameron is a terrible loser.
Word Count: 1528
Tags/Warnings: Poe Dameron x Reader, Modern AU. Implied smut but mostly in passing. Some bad words. Poorly edited because as usual I finished this at like 11 and my kids get up at 5 so I need to go to sleep.
Author’s Note: THREE FICS IN A WEEK WHO AM I?
Okay, so I cannot be the only one who saw the photo for this week's Writer Wednesday (thank you once more for hosting, @autumnleaves1991-blog!) and went the direction I did. If I am the only one, well, just further proof my brain is certifiable. Make sure you comment on when you figure out where this fic takes place.
There will also be an accompanying headcanon coming for this probably tomorrow, because there was SO much material I wanted to use but couldn't make fit. Thank you @paper-n-ashes for brainstorming with me and being the best hype-woman ever.
Tumblr media
“AAAAHHHHH.”
“WE’RE GONNA DIE.”
“WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!”
“FINN!!” You smack him. “There are small children here!”
But he’s too busy screaming to pay attention.
On the other side of you, Kaydel looks decidedly green. She lets out a pained moan as your vehicle makes a particularly hard turn. “I’ve got a bad feeling about this…”
You pat her knee as you fly through a kitchy town. “Hang in there, honey. It’s almost over.”
The village elder’s well wishes still ringing in your ears, you pull up next to another idling transport. From the driver’s seat, your boyfriend winks at you.
“You’re going down, Dameron!” you holler at him.
He makes the universal ‘I’m watching you’ gesture. “Eat my dust, losers!”
Finn yells back something that has you smacking him again, shooting an apologetic glance to the second row of Poe’s transport, where Snap and Karé are sitting with their daughter Nora. Snap’s hands fly to cover Nora’s ears while Karé laughs heartily.
Next to Poe, Rey holds her thumb and forefinger up to her forehead in an ‘L’ shape. “Second place is the first to lose!”
Before any more trash talking can occur, you see a flash of red out of the corner of your eye and then both vehicles take off, bursting out of the dark into blinding sunlight.
You both fly over the rusty terrain, neck and neck as you navigate under rocky overpasses and around hairpin turns. From the second row of your car, you can hear Maz lobbing profanities at Chewie in the other ride. He’s yelling back in his native tongue (which you still only understand half of). Beside Maz, Leia and Han are both laughing like kids.
A shriek of joy erupts from you as you fly over a series of hills, the momentary weightlessness thrilling. Finn has both hands in the air, while Kaydel grips the safety handle with white knuckles.
Finally, you come out of a turn to see a sharp drop. You look to Poe, who grins back at you, his vehicle slightly ahead of yours. Damnit, you HATE losing to him. He’s the worst winner.
At the last moment, your ride leaps ahead, crossing under the checkered banner by a nose. The passengers of your car cheer and high-five in victory, while Poe’s passengers groan in good-natured defeat.
As you roll through the red-lit cavern, you laugh as you catch sight of Poe’s face. He’s a terrible winner, but he’s an even worse loser. Even if his loss comes at the hands of an algorithm.
Anthropomorphic cars wave you off as both vehicles enter the unloading zone. On the other side of the platform, Chewie is lifting Rey out of the front seat as she pretends to collapse in agonized failure, her laughter completely destroying the illusion. You accept Finn’s hand as he helps you up, both of you turning to support Kaydel as she crawls out of the car.
A ride attendant watches her warily. “Does she need assistance?” he asks Han.
Han waves him off, wrapping an arm around his wife’s shoulders as Maz and Chewie beeline for the ride photos. “She’ll be fine. No protein spills here.” At the cast member’s astonished look, the charming rogue gives his trademark grin. “Ain’t my first rodeo, kid.” As he and Leia stroll past you towards the exit, he catches your eye and winks. “That, and they haven’t changed the lingo since the 70’s.”
Laughing, you rub Kaydel’s back as Rey swaps places with Finn and helps bracket your green-tinged friend. “Let’s get you some water, yeah?”
Kaydel manages a slight nod, and the three of you make your way towards the exit.
Behind you, you can hear Poe and Finn bickering, as they’re wont to do.
“It’s a ride, dude,” Finn is saying, the exasperation clear in his tone.
“It’s physics, dude,” Poe shoots back. “There’s NO way the car on the outside of the turn would be able to finish first.”
Worst. Loser. Ever.
Your rag-tag alliance eventually makes it out of the exit tunnel. Ben’s waiting across the walkway, those ridiculously long arms crossed over his chest as he leans against the guard rail and steadily ignores whatever Armitage is ranting about.
On the bench next to them, Rose perks up, a smirk crossing her pretty face as she sees Poe’s expression. “Well, I don’t need to ask who won.”
“Don’t wanna talk about it,” the most-competitive-pilot-in-the-galaxy grumbles back, adjusting his backpack. You help Kaydel to a bench, where she quickly curls up.
Rey rolls her eyes as she forces her way into the circle of Ben’s arms. “It’s not like any of us could have actually controlled the outcome, you noodle.”
“Not without some kind of magic,” Ben intones dryly, resting his chin on his girlfriend’s head.
“How cool would that be, though?” Rey’s getting her Down-The-Wormhole-We-Go eyes. You and Rose exchange a Look™️ as she starts gesturing wildly with her hands. “Like, imagine if you could just look at something like rocks and, like, make them fly. Or make someone do whatever you wanted them to do. OH!” She looks up at Ben with a slightly manic expression. “Lightning bolts from your fingers!!”
Well-used to these kinds of rambles, Ben gently captures her hands and wraps her into a hug that doubles as a straight jacket. “No more SyFy channel before bed.”
Rose slides her arms around her husband as Finn joins her on the bench. “Did you behave?”
Nora, in all her 6-year-old innocence, giggles. “Mr Finn said a whole lot of swear-jar words.” She casts a critical eye on the young man. “You probably said enough you could buy an Elsa doll.” The ‘for me’ is unsaid, but implied.
Karé rapidly turns her laugh into a cough.
Finn glances down at his wife as Rose smacks him upside the head. “Hey! That tractor thing is terrifying. And Maz said WAY more than I did!”
“Age before beauty, Finnigan,” Maz says haughtily, waving off Finn’s ‘m'name’s not Finnigan, damn it’.
Giggling, you tune out the ridiculousness that is your found family and turn your attention to your still-sulking boy toy. “You know,” you murmur, wrapping your arms around his waist, “you make that face for long enough and it’ll stick that way.”
He huffs. “This is just how my face looks.”
“Uh huh.” Considering yourself quite the expert in his face, having spent countless hours studying every crease and line until you could have drawn him blindfolded, you call bullshit, but say nothing further.
“It is,” he insists.
“Okay,” you agree.
The King of Sarcasm narrows his eyes. “You’re doing that thing.”
You widen your eyes innocently. “What thing?”
“That thing where it sounds like you’re agreeing with me but you’re really telling me I’m a dumbass.”
“What?!” You bring your hand to your chest. “Moi?! I would never.”
He huffs again, but you can see the hint of a smirk starting to break though.
“C’mon, First Runner Up,” you tease. “No sulking in Disneyland. Let me buy you a drink at Trader Sam’s, and then we can sneak off to the Haunted Mansion and make out like teenagers in our Doom Buggy.”
He tilts his head, considering it.
“Or-“ You brush an inky curl off his forehead and stand on your toes until your lips are just about caressing his ear and whisper, “-we could get back in line right now and go again.”
Even before you’ve finished speaking, Poe’s grabbing your hand and hauling you back towards the entrance, tossing a “See you jerks later!” as he pulls you under the Radiator Springs Racers sign. Their laughter echos behind you as he leads the way through the mostly empty line (thank goodness for parade lulls).
As you wait in the queue, only a few dozen people stand between Poe and his (re)shot at victory. You see that competitive gleam in his eyes start to come alive again.
“Hey.” You tug on his tee shirt until he looks at you. “If our car doesn’t win, tonight I’ll do That Thing you love.”
“Babe.” The look he gives you is one of pure torture. “You are killing me here.” He really loves to win. But he really, really loves That Thing. “What about when we come in first?”
You shrug demurely. “Then you wear Those Pants™️ tomorrow.”
Hm. Poe’s always been quick to calculate his odds, and this is quickly turning into a win/win situation. If you lose, he gets That Thing. But Those Pants™️ turn you about feral, and when you’re in that kind of mood- let’s just say Poe still has the scars on his shoulders to prove it.
“Are those terms acceptable, Flight Commander Dameron?” You smile sweetly up at him.
His licentious grin says it all. “Hell yeah.”
For the record, your car does lose a second time. And the next morning, Poe hardly has Those Pants over his ass when you’re ripping them back down his legs and shoving him backwards onto the bed.
Oh, yeah, he thinks to himself. This is better than any dumb kid’s ride.
…doesn’t mean he’s not going to ride it as many times as it takes to win.
A/N: I almost titled this “Tell me you have children without saying you have children”. I am so fucking sick of ‘Lining McQueen’. Yay 4-year-olds.
Thank you for reading; likes and reblogs feed my soul.
Name and Soul: Chapter 6
It's finally here! I am SO SO sorry for the delay. This weekend has been insane. But anyway, let's go.
@mqgriett @darkangel4121 @thelambandthewolffe @maulscrosshair @trash-dino-5000 @lightning-wolffe @killtherandomness @shadowwing1324 @sydnubabu @lafy-taffy @photowizard17
Crosshair x F! reader
Word Count: 2042
Warnings: SPOILERS for episode 6, Rampart being a *ahem* douchebag, super conflicted Crosshair, internal conflict, Tech being amazing, Wrecker kicking ass, there are a few curse words but nothing too bad, I think
“Y/N… Y/N!” Omega tugs on your hand.
You shake your head and look down at her. “Huh?... What?” The girl points at the makeshift target painted on the far wall.
“Good job, Omega! You’re getting there!” You ruffle her hair and she smiles. “How about you try again?”
Omega nods and readies herself with the Zygerrian bow. You look out the door and tune everything out. After you saw, well thought you saw him, you stood in the middle of the streets until someone bumped your shoulder. It couldn’t have been him. That’s impossible, he would be on Kamino. And he didn’t have any weapons besides his knife, he never brings only one weapon. And his eyes… It had to be him.
You refocus when Omega lets out a frustrated groan.
“But I’ve already hit the target three times.”
Echo rests his hand on her shoulder. “Out of 12. That’s luck, Omega, not skill.”
“He’s right.” You hop off the gambling table and nod at the target. “Soldiers need to be consistent and that comes with time.”
Omega tries again but misses, glaring at the Weequay and Ithorian. “I was doing better until those two showed up.”
Echo glances at you before looking back to Omega. “You have to learn to tune out distractions, which comes with practice.”
“Try again, Omega. You can do it.” You smiled at the girl and winced when she missed again.
“Not exactly a natural, is she.” Cid walks up and nudges Wrecker off of his seat. “Playtime’s over, I got a job for you.”
You all gather around the table, making yourselves comfortable. Omega reaches up to you and you pick her up so she can see.
“I assume you guys know what a tactical droid is?... They were the opera…”
“The operational brains of the Separatist military-” Tech butts in.
“Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba.” This is my briefing, Goggles.”
Tech steps back offended while you and Echo try to muffle your laughter. Tech elbows you with a small smile before refocusing on Cid’s briefing. This is going to be a fun mission.
--
He was tired. God, he was so tired. Crosshair lied on his bed, staring up at the ceiling. Despite his exhaustion, he had been trying to go to sleep for hours.
Why did I run? Why did I leave her there? Why did you go in the first place, you should’ve killed her. I love her. She betrayed the Empire, tried to kill you. I tried to kill her first.
Crosshair sat up from his bed and removed his necklace. He turned the ring over in his hand, looking at the engraving. O'r gai bal runi…
Y/N… I’m sorry. Please, forgive me.
“CT-9904, report to my office immediately.”
….“Yes, sir.”
--
“We’re approaching the decommissioning site. We can land at the dockyard and go in on foot.” Tech turns his head to look back before landing the ship.
You put on your helmet and look down at Omega. “You ready kid?”
“Definitely!” The girl runs ahead before Hunter holds her shoulder. You all crouch behind a wall. You raise your brow at Tech and poke his shoulder.
“What’s with the police droids? Cid never mentioned those.”
The man rolls his eyes and looks at his vambrace. “They operate on a rotating quadrant scan. If we time it correctly, they have a blind spot.”
“That’s our way in then.”
“Precisely.”
When the time is right, you make your way to the site, going up a ladder.
“It’s okay, Wrecker. Don’t look down, just like Skako Minor.” You glance down at the man and he nods.
“You say that like it’s easy, Y/N.”
You all enter the facility and huddle together.
“Wrecker, cover us up top.”
“But being the lookout was Crosshair’s job.”
“That’s why Y/N is going with you.” Hunter nods at you.
“Sounds good to me… C’mon big guy, let's get up there.”
--
This really could be going better. You dodge a few shots from the police droids, firing something back.
“Wrecker, Y/N. Get to the main control panel.” Echo’s voice comes through the comms
You and the man run up but stop when you reach the panel… on the other side of a river of molten droid parts. Lovely. Crosshair would’ve loved this.
“Echo, we can’t reach the platform. Unless you want us to fall into a molten river.”
“It’s the only way to reboot the whole facility. Figure it out!”
Wrecker looks at you, “That’s easy for you to say.” The man paces erratically and grips his head.
“Wrecker, we need to hurry. You can do this.” You stop the man and hold his shoulders. “I’ll cover you.”
The man groans and mumbles to himself.
“Wrecker, what are you waiting for?”
“Wrecker, you need to hurry!” A blaster shot flies over your head, and more police droids surround you both.
Wrecker jumps to a claw and swings to the platform, hitting his head in the process.
“Wrecker! Get the system online, we’re running out of time!” Police droids gather together, converging on your position. The man flips the switch before collapsing.
“Wrecker!” You fire off a few rounds and use the claw to get to the platform. “C’mon Wrecker! We gotta get out of here!”
You grab Wreckers blaster and fire at the closer droids. “Dammit, Wrecker!”
“H-Hunter, Y/N… I’m stuck on the conveyor. I need help.”
“I’m surrounded by police droids and Wrecker is incapacitated at the moment. Hunter?”
“I’ll get Omega. Just get down here as soon as you can.”
You fire off more rounds, then kneel down. “Wrecker… Wrecker! You couldn’t have hit your head that hard. C’mon.” You push his shoulder.
More droids converge and you move around the platform. Wrecker mumbles but you can’t make out anything. Good soldiers follow orders.
--
Good soldiers follow orders. Good soldiers follow orders. Good soldiers...good soldiers.
“CT-9904? A moment?” Rampart approached the grey-haired man, who placed a toothpick between his lips.
“Sir.”
“I believe we have gotten off on the wrong… foot.” Rampart stands, looking out the window. “You see, Private L/N and her skills will be very useful for my current project. I understand that your relationship with the soldier-”
Crosshair shoves the man against the window, holding the sharpened point of his toothpick at Rampart’s neck. “I am holding this right over your carotid artery. If I slip just enough, you will bleed out in minutes, possibly less. Now I don’t know who you think I was to that woman, but if you keep pushing it...” Crosshair presses his toothpick harder. “...then I suggest you watch your back.” Crosshair lets go of his collar and Rampart falls to the floor, gripping his neck. “Oh and Admiral. If you tell anyone about this, I’ll still have enough time to find you.” The sniper narrows his eyes and disappears down the hallway.
--
“Y/N, Wrecker, get down here now!”
“I’m working on it, Echo! Wrecker’s still-”
“We’re on our way.” The man grabs his weapon from you and nudges your shoulder.
“Oh, so glad you could join us! How was your beauty sleep?” You punch his shoulder. “We need to get to the others.”
The man walks up to a chain and crouches down. “You remember that mission on Tatooine?”
“How could I ever forget?” You smile and get up on Wrecker’s shoulders. “Let’s do some damage.”
Wrecker jumps down the chain, the two of you firing off. “Sorry, we took so long!”
“We got tired of you guys having all the fun!” Wrecker lands with you still on his shoulders. You hop off and start covering the rest of the group.
“Y/N!” Omega runs up next to you, a few smudges on her face.
“Omega! You got a little something on your cheek, nothing a rag and water can’t take care of.” You pat her on the head for a moment before returning more fire.
A moment later, old battle droids begin to stand up and fire on the police droids.
“Well, that’s new… I take it, that’s our cue to get the hell out of here.”
Tech runs next to you, “Yes, it is indeed.”
“Good shot, Omega!”
“Thank you! You and Echo were right about those distractions.”
“We’ve dealt with this our whole lives, you learn to forget about them over time.” You kneel behind her and provide cover. “Let’s get going… I’m starving.”
“You and me both!” Wrecker runs past you, knocking the remaining droids to the ground.
--
“Trace, right?”
“Yes! And you’re Y/N.” The girl smiles at you.
You place your hand on her shoulder. “Thank you for going back to Omega.”
“She’s a good kid… And a good shot.” Trace chuckles.
“Well, she’s getting there…”
“Y/N! Let’s go! I thought you were starving!” Omega sticks her head out of the ship, waving her arms.
“Okay, jeez. I’m coming!” You wave to the sisters and run to the ship, sitting in the cockpit. Omega comes up and tugs on your arm. “Y/N… Uhm, can you help me train for a bit?”
“Yeah sure, but no target practice. Let’s do strength instead! Then you need to rest, you’ve had a big day.”
“Okay! Now c’mon let’s go!” The girl grabs your hand and drags you to the back.
--
Crosshair stood in the shower, staring at his necklace. He hadn’t moved in minutes, just letting the water run down his body. He was thinking… about everything. Sleep is unknown to him, his brain won’t shut up. He won’t shut up.
You should’ve gone back for her. You should’ve killed her. I love her. No, you don’t. What do you know...You’re not me. I love Y/N, and I always will, I promised her. Ha, with what? That stupid necklace, that ring? You tried to kill her and you think she still loves you? You betrayed everything you promised. You don’t know Y/N like I do. She knows, they all do. She saw me that day, she knows that I’m still here. And she knows you’re here too. She’s not stupid. Oh, I’m sure. Just shut up and let me sleep, please. Hm, I’ll think about it. No, I don’t think I will.
--
“Y/N? Why are you up?” Tech walks into the cockpit, devoid of his eyewear.
“I- couldn’t sleep. Haven’t been since…”
“Since the day we left Kamino… Am I correct?”
“Yes… It’s so odd. It’s like I can feel him.”
“Crosshair?”
“Yes, it’s like I can feel his presence. Like when someone stands behind you, but you can feel them there before they speak. And I keep thinking I hear him, and I see things. Like nightmares...horrible nightmares.” Tears gather in your eyes and they fall down your cheeks. “I- I must be losing my mind, right?”
Tech places his hand on your shoulder and kneels in front of you. “Y/N, you are most definitely not going crazy. But what you’re experiencing does sound very strange. I know how much this… has affected you and I don’t- I don’t have all the answers. I do wish I did, but circumstances have prevented me from fully dedicating-”
“Tech, you’re rambling again.” You put your hand on his shoulder. “I know you are doing everything you can, and you have a great assistant.”
The man chuckles, “Apologies. Yes, Omega is a very nice assistant. She is quite intelligent.” Tech stands up and yawns, “I believe some sleep is necessary, for both of us.”
“I’ll go in a moment, I promise.”
“Very well, I would hate to drag you back.” Tech nods before heading back to his room.
You turn your head, looking out into hyperspace. Crosshair… I don’t know if you can hear me. I was looking at the stars… I miss you. Maybe you’re looking at the stars too if you can even see them, but I hope you are. They look so pretty tonight.
--
Crosshair turned his head to the window, looking through the clouds of Kamino. He finds a small opening in the clouds, revealing a dark, clear sky above. I found the stars… You’re right. They do look pretty….
I love you, Y/N.
… I love you, Crosshair.
Bolin x pro-bender!Reader
Masterlist
here... take this bolin headcannon... just take it
i feel like there’s not nearly enough bolin stuff and since i’m almost finished w LOK, i guess ill aid this deficiency :)
also, i just started Book 3, so if theres some things that aren’t right or something, ignore it
___
Bolin HC (during Book 1/Book 2)
so you guys met at (you guessed it) a pro-bending match
you were an Earthbender for the Ba Sing Se Badgermoles, a widely known team because you guys represented such a big city and you guys were actually kinda good
the Badgermoles were constantly interviewed, put on the covers of magazines, and bombarded by fans. The people loved you and your team
and so the day came where the Badgermoles were put up against the Fire Ferrets
you had heard about this team a lot; how they lost a member of the team, then the Avatar, actual master of the elements, filled in that empty space
it honestly took you so long to process
anyways, your team didn’t get the chance to meet the Fire Ferrets before the match; you just threw on all of your gear and made your way to the play area
you saw the Ferrets and instantly saw Avatar Korra, the only girl on the team
honestly, you couldnt see her well, but she was so pretty
anyways
the battle started and the Badgermoles got the advantage pretty quick
you took out their firebender and was working on the earthbender while the rest of team handled the Avatar
the earthbender put up a huge fight, it was so impressive
he even knocked you back a zone, but you recovered and, with a streak of luck, knocked him straight out of the field
you guys won that round
the next round didn’t go so well
the fire ferrets managed to knock all three of you guys off the platform, resulting in a win and a knock out
this meant that the entire match went to the Fire Ferrets
the other members on your team were annoyed and angry, but you weren’t phased too much
after all, Ba Sing Se treated you all extremely nicely, whether you win or not
so after the game, your team found themselves walking through the Fire Ferret’s locker room so you could leave
after your team mates walked past, you stayed behind and talked to one of the Ferrets, the Earthbender
“Hey, you were really good out there.”
you took off your helmet, just like in the movies, and he swore time slowed
he just stood there, completely frozen with his mouth agape
you raised an eyebrow at his antics and it wasn’t until Avatar Korra slapped him on the back that he came back to
“You- good- were good, uh im- im Bolin.”
you just laughed at Bolin and smiled
“My names Y/n”
you walked up close to him, noses inches apart
“And next time, we won’t lose.”
he just gulped and nodded him head
you turned and walked out, laughing quietly to yourself
the interaction boosted your mood up exponentially
anyways timeskip to when their looking for the airbenders
you were just chilling in Ba Sing Se in the upper ring
you and your team were given super nice houses since you were the city’s pride and joys
then suddenly, you see Bolin and his brother walking around calling for someone
“Bolin? is that you?”
that boy turned around so fast
he blushed so brightly when he saw you and kinda looked at his brother for help
“well, well, what are the Fire Ferrets doing in my city? you know.. i’ve been dying for a rematch!”
you were only joking of course
you knew that their team had broken up after the year you met Bolin
not that you were keeping tabs on their team
of course
“yeah not right now, we’re looking for someone” his brother said
“oh? need some help?”
it took some time to convince Mako, the brother, but eventually you annoyed him enough to let you join
you were all walking through the upper ring looking for some kid named Kai, but you weren’t really paying attention
you maybe, kinda, might only be there so you could hang out with Bolin
from what you had heard (once again, you definitely weren’t searching for info), Bolin was an outgoing, loud guy
now he was quieter than a mouse
“So, i heard you were making movers now. What, getting tired of being a Pro-Bender?”
“Huh? No. I still play! I’m just doing this until the season starts...”
you were visibly happier after hearing that
you had thought that acting was going to be his permanent thing from now on
but still one thing plagued your mind
“And whats that princess girlfriend of yours gonna think about it? Ginger, I think her name was.”
Spirits you had done wayyyy too much research on this man
to be fair, you didn’t think you’d see him ever again
he blushed and stuttered out something about how they weren’t really dating, how it was a publicity stunt, blah blah
you weren’t really paying attention because after hearing his availability, you decided that today was the day you were gonna make a move on him
if it fails, then you don’t really have much to worry about; he lives in an entirely different city and you would only have to see him once a year
but if it succeeds; ohohohoh you’d finally get to live out your crush
the pros really outweighed the cons right now
so you guys searched for Kai for a while more
you decided that you were going to make some subtle hints toward Bolin
you let your hand brush against his a couple times, but never really looked up to see his reaction
then, you guys found Kai
he was stealing some old guy’s money by... airbending? why does this day just keep getting weirder?
so you guys chase him down an the streets and eventually follow him onto a train
unfortunately, he tricks you and sends you guys all the way to the lower ring
you used to live here when you were younger, before you became a Pro-Bender, and it wasn’t a nice place
only now, it seemed to have gotten worse
all of you tried to find a way to get on a train back to the upper ring, but none of you had your passports or any money
if only you hadn’t left your house in such a hurry
you even tried to pull the “im a Pro-Bender!” card, but it didnt work
so you guys stayed on the streets for the day
Bolin was really trying to lighten the situation up, but it wasn’t really working
“C’mon guys! Korra will realize that we’re gone and then come rescue us! I know it!”
she did not come
eventually, they had to find a place to sleep and no where was letting the stay for free
so they found a place in an alley and slept on the floor
yup, the dirty floor
you were not used to this
you almost wanted to stay up for the whole night to avoid sleeping on the ground, but Bolin assured her that it wasn’t as bad as it seemed
it was
“mmm here! you can use my jacket.”
he took off his jacket and laied it out on the floor neatly before gesturing for you to lay there
you hesitated for a second before sitting, not really putting up much of a fight because of how tired you were
Mako was already asleep somewhere across the alley and Bolin began gathering up some papers to use as blanket
then he found a spot somewhere away from you and started to settle down
“hey Bolin? do you maybe wanna share the jacket?”
he looked up so quickly and even the soft light from the lamp post caught his blush
“uhh sure”
and so he came over and laid halfway on the jacket so that you could take up most of it
he even offered you some of his picked up trash to use as a blanket, but you grimaced at the grossness and shook your head
you turned away from him, not wanting to be too overwhelmed by his proximity, so you didn’t notice that Bolin was staring at you
before you could completely fall asleep, a cool breeze burst threw the alley way and you began to shiver
maybe you should’ve accepted his paper
“hey Y/n you awake?”
since you were currently bouncing between consciousness, you decided not to answer
you feel him scoot closer
“okay please dont be mad at me when you wake up”
then you felt his arm cover your cold skin and warm you instantly
Spirits, he should be a firebender with how warm he was
you scooted back to meet his chest and let him envelope you
you fell asleep so quick
both of you woke up to Mako above you speaking loudly
“hey lovebirds, wake up”
since you already know of the position you were in, you didn’t really jump back with the surprise that Bolin had
“S-Sorry Y/n! You just looked so cold last night that I-”
“its fine Bolin” you smiled at him “and thank you”
spirits he was so cute
and so you guys went on with the day, thinking about stealing food, then meeting their long lost family
it was such a nice reunion
they talked a bit about their family history, but since you felt out of place, you settled for playing with the babies on the floor
you bended little toys out of rocks and watched as some tried the same
it was so cute
meanwhile, Bolin was having a little dilemma
he and Mako had just finished having a heartfelt conversation with his Grandma and now he walks out here to see you playing with little babies and laughing with them
you were just so cute
“you know she likes you too right?”
“huh?! what- staring? im not staring.”
Mako just sighed because wow his baby brother is so dumb
“just talk to her before we leave Ba Sing Se”
and so they got their passports and left to the Upper Ring
you were so excited to go back home and sleep in a real bed
but you had one more thing to do before all of that
“So uh Bolin”
“So uh Y/n”
you guys spoke at the same time
“Oh! you can go first”
once again at the same time
“listen Y/n, I think you’re really pretty and super strong, like you could beat me up if you wanted to and i think thats really cool.” *cue your confused stare* “um anyways what I meant to say was, I think I’m about to fight the queen of Ba Sing Se and if I make it out alive, do you think we could hang out? like just us two?”
you decided to ignore some parts of what he said because umm you can only handle so many things at once
you settled for kissing his cheek and confessing too
you went back home so excited
even tho your crush was about to commit treason <3
aww the two of you are so cute I can’t
A/N: ok so this takes place a little bit after takedown and before tame! everything will always be in order on the master list as well! enjoy bbys
MAIN MASTERLIST | CHEEK TO CHEEK MASTERLIST
It’s not hard to use your ten-plus years of skilled military and HYDRA training to be sneaky. Despite your shoes having a tall platform, your steps make no sound as you walk throughout the hallways. Even the way your fingers hold the large, wrapped gifts in your hands, the paper wrapping makes no sound in your grasp.
It’s only when you reach the last floor of the private area of the Avengers tower, which would lead to the garage where you could slip out into the cold air, that you’re caught red handed.
Or rather - present handed.
The lights turn on, making you pause in your tracks, being faced with a pajama-clad Sam Wilson sitting on the main couch. He smirks as he looks you up and down, a cutesy white floral dress with tiny pastel green and black flowers crowded all over it, an oversized black cardigan, which he thinks is Bucky’s, draped over your shoulders.
“And just where do you think you’re going at,” A glance at his watch, “11:23 at night?” He questions.
“... A… walk.”
“A walk? You’re not supposed to leave the tower, Rapunzel.” Sam teases as you look away and sigh.
“It’s Bucky’s birthday tomorrow.”
“I’m aware.”
“I made him this cake, Sam!” You exclaim exasperated, because you’ll be damned if you don’t make it to Bucky’s by midnight.
He chuckles, and after a moment of staring at you, he rises from his seat and slips his feet into his slippers, “Alright, let’s go.”
“Huh?”
“Do you think I’m going to let you walk all the way to Bucky’s alone in the middle of the night? C’mon, I’ll drive you.”
“Really?” Your face softens at your big bad Captain’s sweet side.
“Let’s go before I change my mind.”
“Right, right.”
You arrive at Bucky’s at 11:52, so you, of course, wait quietly outside his door for eight minutes before finally knocking as the clock strikes midnight. Your smile grows as you hear his voice on the other side getting closer and closer to the door before a click sounds and the door opens to reveal the birthday boy, missing his shirt and wearing a pair of black sweatpants.
You push aside thoughts of his smooth chest and large muscles and your smile drops as you hear Bucky talk on the phone, “Thank you, thank you, I really appreciate it.” He’s smiling at you and opens the door wider so you can enter.
Your mouth drops open in shock, “I wasn’t the first one?!”
Bucky holds back a chuckle, “Yeah, thanks again for the birthday wishes, Sam,”
“That motherfucker!”
“I’ll see you later, man. Thanks.” Bucky quickly hangs up the phone, a boyish giggle escaping his lips as he gets the stuff from your hands, places them on his counter, and engulfs you in a hug.
“I can’t believe I wasn’t the first one!” You childishly whine as his arms hug around your body tight, your arms wrapping around his neck.
“You were the first one to say it in person.” He offers, and you giggle into his neck.
“I made you a birthday cake, it’s red velvet.” He hums and finally releases you, walking over to the counter to remove your wrapped up cake, delicious looking with a rainbow frosting theme, a cursive Happy Birthday! standing out in the middle in white icing.
Alpine curls against your hip as the three of you occupy the couch, a large piece of cake on a plate for each of you. Now that the birthday formalities are out of the way, you take the time to admire the man of the hour.
Bucky is… hot. Like, unbelievably hot. Like, you thought bodies existed like that in magazines or filtered photos, but he’s literally right here. There’s virtually no fat, the skin tight on his body, curved to the muscle that lies beneath it. There are veins upon veins upon veins, with an occasional freckle here and there. His stubble is growing out, traveling down his neck, and there’s some hair around the middle of his chest, only continuing again around his belly button where it disappears once more beneath his sweats…
“Careful, you’ll get drool on the cat.” He teases.
You innocently look away as though you weren’t just gawking at him, and he lets out an amused laugh.
“Want me to put a shirt on -”
“I mean, you definitely don’t have to.” Another laugh.
Bellies full of cake and sweet icing residue staining lips and tongues purple, the two of you remain on the couch as Bucky opens his gifts, despite many “You didn’t have to get me anything” and “Where did you even get me something?” and other excuses.
There are two wrapped gifts, insisting he opens the smaller one first, a package of silver rings, with different designs but all relatively simple. He loves them, and tries them all immediately, but you weren’t exactly prepared to see shirtless Bucky with his fingers adorned with thick silver bands. You feel warm all over, but ignore it as he goes for the other package, much larger but not weighing a lot. You scoot closer to him as he picks at the tape, your shoulders and hips touching, warmth radiating off of each other.
He unwraps it and his jaw drops and quickly quirks upwards to form a smile, rubbing his fingers over the incredibly soft green blanket. It’s a light, pastel green with purple flowers all over it, the yellow middles of the floral combining beautifully with the other colors.
“I know you like soft things, and I know you like blankets and being warm, and I thought this was perfect! Plus it’s so cute, look at the flowers! You love flowers!” You explain, watching him stare down at the blanket, rubbing his still ring-clad fingers rub over the fibers.
He looks up at you and rests his arm over the back of the couch, encouraging you to lean into him for a hug, “I love it, it’s perfect. Thank you.” He compliments.
He pulls back, and almost as though he’s done it a thousand times, leans in to casually press a kiss against your lips. The kiss is soft, the sweetness from not only the cake consumed earlier but the love you two unknowingly share. There’s a second of hesitation where Bucky realizes what it is he’s doing, absentmindedly kissing one of his best friends, before he notices the pressure being returned against his mouth; you’re kissing him back!
Your soft hand raises to rest on his cheek as you pull back for a breath, before reattaching your lips once more, Bucky’s hand leaving the blanket on his lap to rest on your hip. A low hum escapes him as you boldly slip your tongue into his mouth, licking against his, the soft muscles becoming familiar with each other.
Having your tongue in Bucky’s mouth actually set you on fire. Or at least it felt like it. You feel the sparks and the warmth and the burning all throughout your body. You feel it where your tongues and lips meet, you feel it in your fingertips against his face, you feel it in your hips where his hand rests. You want to get away because everything is so hot, but at the same time you want to be impossibly closer to him.
Bucky feels like a horny teenager in the middle of his apartment right now. Making out with a pretty girl, a confusing fear deep inside him, even though there’s no one around to put them at risk of being caught. He’s warm all over, and it’s present in the back of his mind as the heat grows closer and closer to his groin but he just prays you don’t notice. He’d rather not be so embarrassed on his birthday. Regardless, you still got it, old man.
Still got it.
A/N: Thanks for the continued support! (Also I absolutely ADORE Sirius)
Chapter Summary: Someone unexpected arrives at 12 Grimmauld Place and you head back to Hogwarts for your final year!
Pairing(s): Cedric x Reader (Mentioned, through Goblet of Fire) & George x Reader (eventually)
Word Count: 2.1k
Warnings: Slight injury? Bold italics= Flashback
Return to Hogwarts
The days leading up to September 1st were mostly uneventful. Although, you became pretty close with Tonks who always appreciated the pranks and would sometimes help you three with them. In the mornings before the twins woke up, you would sit with Molly, Ginny and Tonks at the table drink coffee or tea and chat. Hermione would typically be with Harry and Ron so she did not join often. It was always a great way to start out your mornings. Occasionally, Sirius and Remus would join.
The night before you’re supposed to go to Hogwarts, you’re sitting around the table with everyone, listening to Remus and Sirius, when there’s a small knock at the door. Sirius’s eyes get wide, but Remus just smirks. “I’ll get that.” He says, getting up from the table. You hear the door open and when you look at who walks in, you see a familiar face walk in with Mad-eye. Someone who you hadn’t seen in over a year.
“Mum?” You ask getting up from your chair. You notice that Sirius has also gotten up from his own. “What are you doing here?”
“Well, I couldn’t let them reinstate the Order and not be involved.” She smiles brightly, taking in the surroundings. She really was beautiful, with long hair and bright eyes.
“But, what about Francis?” You’ve made your way in front of her now.
Your mother looks down at her feet and shifts uncomfortably. “I altered his memory. He doesn’t even know we exist.”
“You what!” Your eyes widen in disbelief.
She sighs. “He was a mistake. What would your father have thought if he saw me married to a man like him?”
You pull her into a hug. “I’m glad you finally realized.”
“I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have let him keep us away from each other for so long.” She returns the hug. “I’m also sorry I wasn’t there for everything you’ve been through.”
“Elenora.” You hear a deep voice behind you say your mother’s name. You step away from each other and she looks up and meets Sirius’s eyes.
“Sirius.” She smiles warmly at him. “It’s so lovely to see you.”
Sirius smiles back at her and puts one arm around her and one arm around Remus. “The three of us, back together!”
You’re not sure if Sirius is just happy to see your mother or if he’s getting bored of seeing the same people every single day. Remus puts on his best smile as Molly walks into the room with Arthur.
“Elenora! I did not know you were joining us!” Molly says, wrapping her in a hug of her own.
Your mother looks over to Remus. “Didn’t tell anyone?”
Remus smirks. “Not a soul.”
“Dinner everyone?” Molly asks, ushering everyone to the table. You all file in, taking your normal seats at the table. Your mum sits in between Remus and Sirius and kindly introduces herself to everyone else. Sirius sneaks a few glances at her as everyone eats and seems unable to wipe the smile on his face. You’re assuming Remus had told her everything, since she welcomed him like he hadn’t spent time in Azkaban.
After dinner, everyone goes their separate ways, but you stay back with the twins to talk to your mum a bit more. “Are you going to stay here?” You ask, looking at her.
“Yes. Remus informed me that theirs a room for me on the second floor.” She looks over at Sirius. “As long as that’s okay with you?”
“Of course!” He says almost too quickly.
“These two boys, must be Fred and George, correct?” Your mother asks, looking at the two boys.
“Yes, I’m Fred!” George says waving at your mother.
“And I’m George!” Fred says back.
“It’s lovely to meet you!” They say in unison.
She smiles at the boys and before she can say anything you interrupt. “Always the pranksters. That’s George and that’s Fred.” You point at each boy as you say their names.
“Ah, yes. Molly’s told me about you two. I’ll be on the lookout for any pranks.” She smiles brightly and notices Sirius standing in the doorway with Remus. “If you don’t mind, I think I am going to catch up with some old friends.” She pulls you into a tight hug and goes to follow the two men.
You might be upset that your mum would rather hang out with her old friends than her own child, but it had been even longer since she’d seen them. At this point, you were practically self-sufficient and wanted her to enjoy her freedom from Francis. So, you waved goodnight to the twins and head off to bed.
-------
You’re all walking across the bridge to get to Platform 9 3/4th accompanied by Mad-eye, Tonks, Molly and your mother, when a black dog brushes past you. You can tell Mad-eye is annoyed at this sight and whispers something to it. You immediately realize that it’s Sirius accompanying Harry and smile at the thought that he wanted to see him off. They pull over into a separate room while the rest of you continue on, reaching the train.
Tonks pulls you, Hermione and Ginny into hugs. “It’s been great meeting all of you! We’ll see each other soon.”
Your mother pulls you into a hug. “Be safe. I’ll see you when you get back.”
You smile at her as Molly also pulls you into a distracted hug. “Write… Be good…” The words drone out as she continues to hug through the children, accidently hugging Harry twice. You all get onto the train, waving goodbye.
“Shall we go discuss with Lee?” Fred asks looking and George and you. You nod your head and wave at the others as you follow George and Fred to your usual booth where Lee is waiting for you all.
“Hello Lee!” You wave and sit opposite of him on the bench.
“Hello Y/N!” He offers you a smile and waves as Fred and George come in. They immediately begin discussing their plan for their final year at Hogwarts. You’re listening to the boys talk as the train begins moving, you lean your head against the window and stare outside, watching everything pass by.
Before you know it, you’ve drifted off to sleep and you’re woken up by George whispering your name and shaking you slightly. “Y/N.”
You open your eyes and notice your head is no longer leaning on the window, but is on George’s shoulder. “Oh, George! I’m so sorry! That couldn’t have been comfortable!”
He shrugs, “It’s quite alright. Do you want something to eat?”
You look up and notice that the trolley was at the compartment door. “No, I’m alright.” You say rubbing your eyes, blushing slightly.
George, Fred and Lee each grab some snacks and you’re assuming continuing their conversation from before. They were showing Lee some of the “treats” they had for the Skiving Snackboxes. You continued to look out the window and before you knew it, you were already at Hogwarts.
-------
The entire walk to the Great Hall, they continued talking to Lee, finalizing their plans for the school year. George occasionally would look over at you, just to make sure you were still here. Every time you caught his eye, you would give him a small smile to ensure him that you’re doing okay. Along the way, you found Angelina, Katie and Alicia.
“Did you hear the news?” Angelina asks as she walks up next to you.
“What?” You all ask looking at her.
“I’ve been made Quidditch captain this year!” She says excitedly.
“Congratulations Ang!” You say, smiling at her.
“Since I am replacing Oliver, we need a keeper. So, I want all players to be at try-outs on Friday to find a new keeper.” She says, looking directly at Fred and George.
“We’ll all be there.” You say, also looking at the boys.
“Yes, yes, we’ll be there!” They agree. You all reach the Great Hall and take your seats. You notice a woman dressed in all pink, with a pink bag on the table. You’re sitting in between Fred and George as Dumbledore begins his speech.
“We wish to welcome our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Dolores Umbridge. I’m sure you’ll all join me in wishing the professor good luck. As usual, our caretaking Mr. Filch-“
“Ahem.” Professor Umbridge coughs, interrupting Dumbledore and gets to her feet. “Thank you, Headmaster. For those kind words of welcome and how lovely to see all your bright smiling faces looking up at me. I’m sure we’re all going to be very good friends.”
“That’s likely.” The twins say in union. You laugh quietly and all three of you receive a glare from her.
“The Ministry of Magic has always considered the education of young witches and wizards to be of vital importance. Although each headmaster has brought something new to this historic school, progress for the sake of progress must be discouraged. Let us preserve what must be preserve, perfect what can be protected and pruning wherever we find practices that ought to be prohibited.” She finishes her speech with a wide grin, that makes you feel uneasy.
“Thank you Professor Umbridge.” Dumbledore says as she walks off the stage, dismissing the students. You all walk back to the common room and head into your dormitory to begin classes the next day.
 -------
You’re sitting in the Great Hall eating breakfast with Fred and George when Professor McGonagall comes up and hands you three your schedules.
“What’d you get, Y/N?” George asks, comparing your schedules along with Freds.
“Transfiguration, Potions, Charms, Herbology, Defense Against the Dark Arts and Care of Magical Creatures.” You say looking over the schedule. “All classes to be a healer, plus Care of Magical Creatures.
“Looks like we have Herbology together.” Fred says.
“And we have Transfiguration together.” George says. “Also all three of us have Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts together.”
“With Umbridge.” You groan. “But first, we have Herbology.”
“Yeah, C’mon, if we get there early we might be able to sell a few Extendable Ears before Herbology.” Fred says collecting his things.
The three of you walk to the Greenhouse where you stand idly by while the twins sell some extendable ears to the students walking past. You leaned against the wall, watching the two boys sell a few extendable ears before Professor Sprout welcomed everyone inside. You and Fred waved goodbye to George and walked into the classroom. The moment you stepped into the greenhouse you were bombarded with memories from last year.
“Alright class! Today we will be extracting a pod from a Snarglauff plant.” Professor Sprout motions to the logs on the tables. “You’ll need to work in trios for this one!”
You look next to you at Cedric who is smiling down at you. “Care to partner up?” He asks.
Fred also slides next to the both of you, “Need a third?”
“Let’s do this!” You pull the log towards the three of you and a long, prickly vine flies out and whips through the air. All three of you take a step back, eyes wide.
“Grab the branches!” You shout. Both boys quickly grab the vines, each holding them to allow an opening in the middle. You reach your hand in and one of the vines, slips out of Cedric’s hands and wraps quickly around your arm. Cedric untangles the branch and you quickly pull your hand out, bringing out a pod. The vines all quickly snap back into the log, reverting back to its innocent looking form.
“Great work you three!” Professor Sprout shouts, walking over towards you. She plucks it out of your hand and demonstrates how to extract the green tubers from the pod. “These are best when they are fresh, class.” She continues showing off the tubers.
You look down at your arm and notice some small scratches on your arm. Cedric follows your gaze. “Y/N! Are you alright?”
You smile at Cedric, grateful for his concern. “I’ll be fine, Ced.” Professor Sprout dismisses the class after everyone had received their pods.
The moment you step out of the greenhouse, Cedric pulls you into a tight hug. “Promise me you’re okay?”
“I promise.” You blush heavily as Cedric plants a kiss on the top of your head and begins to walk you towards the Great Hall.
You realized you’ve been standing near the door way for quite some time. Fred is giving you a concerned look and puts a hand on your shoulder. “Are you alright?”
You nod your head and walk with Fred to find a spot at the table as Professor Sprout begins her lesson.
“Wait! Please— I’m sorry, just— wait.”
It's for the Soft Starter Prompts!
I know this was a soft starter prompt but I wanted to try my hand at some against between the two. I hope you like this!
The crew lounged about the mess hall as they prepared to relax for the next few days. It was the morning after Rhea and the crew had finished traveling about Monarch completing missions here and there for a grueling few weeks. A quick shower the night before did nothing to get rid of the feeling of dirt and monster guts off her skin but she had been too tired to care and passed out on her bed soon after. Waking up, Rhea was met with a pounding headache that had been creeping up on her in their final days out in the wilderness.
She reached for the inhaler before stopping herself. Lately it had felt like she was relying on it for even the slightest problem and Rhea was determined to try and fight this without it.
This left Rhea leaning against the counter in the mess hall with the others rubbing at her temples.
Ellie had tried to best convince Rhea to use the inhaler. “C’mon captain. We all rely on it. There’s no need to be a stickler about these things.”
“Just let me deal with it Ellie,” Rhea couldn’t hide her frustration but she knew Ellie wouldn’t be hurt by that.
Sure enough Ellie shrugged her shoulders. “Alright Rhea, suit yourself.”
“Mhmm.” Rhea was too focused on trying to rub the headache away to notice as the crew set about making breakfast.
“Boss, boss!” Felix’s excited voice came from nowhere and joined in with the pounding in her head, making her grimace. He went to lean against the counter, bumping his shoulder against hers as he sat close to her. Rhea never understood how the man could have that much energy at all hours of the day but somehow he did. “Since we don’t have a mission planned for today, I had this great idea…”
Rhea barely listened as Felix talked animatedly next to her. Typically Rhea always tried to listen to him and show interest, even if her answer had to be a resounding no. He always seemed to appreciate that she didn’t immediately dismiss him and they had bonded this way.
Today though his energy was starting to be a bit much. None of the old tricks she had learned to deal with a headache was working and she found her patience wearing thin.
“Felix, please.” Her words came out in a whisper. “Not right now.”
“But Boss, this could be amazing.” He nodded toward Ellie as he continued, “Get something from Ellie and then you have to come try this…”
Rhea felt herself reach her limit. “Dammit Felix, leave me alone. Please.”
The room went silent after her outbursts and Rhea felt an empty space on her shoulder from where they had been touching. Glancing up, Rhea saw that everyone was staring at her in shock.
Fuck, she thought to herself as it hit her with what she had done. Rhea hadn’t meant to snap at him but this damn headache made it hard to manage her emotions.
Turning to Felix, Rhea felt her stomach drop as she took in his own shocked expression. His eyes were wide as he looked at her that started to turn into dismay.
Immediately she tried to backtrack on her words. “Felix, hey thats not what I meant. I…”
But Felix was already turning away from her as he shoved his hands in his pockets and stared at the ground. “I’m, uh, I’m sorry to bother you Boss. I’ll just go. Over here.”
Felix pointed away from them as he started walking away.
“Felix wait!”
But Felix was already down the hallway as Rhea called out to him. But instead of going to his room like Rhea expected, he walked passed and began to make his way down the stairs.
“Fuck!” Rhea balled her fists and jammed them into her eyes. Rhea knew how important it was to Felix to feel a part of the crew, to be seen as valued and important. Especially by her. And all it had to take was a few choice words that even though she didn’t mean it that way, for him to take it as he wasn’t wanted.
Letting out a frustrated noise, Rhea began to run after Felix. ““Wait! Please— I’m sorry, just— wait.”
But as she ran, her bare feet banging against the metal floor, Rhea heard the door hiss closed. He wasn’t going to wait for her, she realized. Rhea began to bounce on the balls of her feet and mutter a string of curses as she was forced to wait for the door to open again.
“Open please!” As if on command the door opened.
Rhea practically fell out the door as the ramp lowered to the ground. She glanced around wildly before seeing him standing at the edge of the docking platform. The headache was still there but the fear that she had hurt him badly seemed to damper the pain. Taking a few seconds to catch her breath, Rhea slowly made her way over.
He didn’t turn to face her as she stopped next to him. Glancing over Rhea saw that Felix wore a sad expression as he kept his gaze focused on nothing in particular, his arms crossed protectively over his body.
“Felix.” Rhea spoke softly, trying her best not to reach out and touch his arm. When he didn’t say anything Rhea continued. “Felix I’m so so sorry for yelling. I had a really bad headache and well…”
She realized how stupid she sounded. Why did words have to fail her with the most important people in her life? Instead she let out a defeated sigh and tried to focus on the one thing that mattered.
“My frustration had nothing to do with you. I’m really sorry I yelled.”
They stood there for a few seconds, neither speaking. Rhea had to stop herself from fidgeting as she waited for something, anything from Felix.
When he finally did face her, he gave her a sad smile and shrugged. “ It’s fine boss, but I, uh, I think I’m going to hang out here for the rest of the day.”
“You don’t have to.” Rhea took a breath as she continued softly, “I want you to stay.”
Felix nodded absentmindedly before answering. “I’m going to hang out here, if that’s ok.”
Her heart clenched as Rhea realized nothing she said could fix this.  The headache had turned into internal screaming at her to say something, anything to fix this, but Rhea knew it wouldn’t. She had hurt him and that was a fact she was going to have to accept. Steeling herself, Rhea nodded solemnly.
“Uh, yeah Felix.”
He walked away from her, hands in his pockets, as he made his way towards the platform down into Stellar Bay. Rhea turned to look at him right as his head disappeared. Tears threatened to fall as she quickly turned away. She was tired and already at her breaking point from dealing with everything in Monarch. And because of this, she had hurt someone she cared about.
Rhea slowly sunk to the ground as her body began to shake. No one was around to see her fall apart and at this point, she didn’t care.
Thank you for asking :)
Institute (13th Doctor x Reader) Part 1
Summary: After a weird encounter on a victorian street the doctor is drawn to you a fellow time traveller AN: HI!! this is a 13 x fem! reader as I started this a while ago and it would’ve meant very heavy delays if I had altered it Word count: 1.6k Warnings: death mention
(PART 2) (PART 3) (PART 4) (PART 5) (PART 6) (PART 7)  (PART 8) MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
The doctor stepped out of the TARDIS, rubbing her hands together “C’mon gang, let’s get a shift on. Lots to see, lots to do.” She said taking the lead and walking ahead. The victorian streets were cobblestone, and covered in mud, “Doc, I thought the victorian era was supposed to be more, I don’t know? Glamorous.” Graham sighed
“Oi! This is real history, you can’t believe everything you see in movies. They’re more historically inaccurate than you’d think,” The doctor snapped jokingly
“Then why’s she wearing jeans?” Ryan asked, gesturing towards you. The entire group turned to look at you.
“Another time traveller probably. I’m not the only one knocking about time and space. She’s definitely not a time agent because she would be dressed era appropriate, so I assume she’s just passing through,” She rambled. Whilst she talked about the intricacies of the time agency you approached them.
“You do understand it is rude to talk about someone, and not include them, regardless, of how well you know someone, Doctor, Ryan, Graham, Yaz,” You interrupted
“Who are you? Sorry, time travel, you should know what it’s like, nothings ever in the right order. Especially with people,” A confused expression fixed on her face
“Oh, of course, that makes sense. It’s all coming together,” You said glaring at the vortex manipulator and sticking your hand out to her “My name’s (Y/N). (Y/N) (L/N).”
“That’s a lovely name. A really lovely name,” The doctor said smiling widely, Ryan and Yaz chuckling at her.
“You’ll see me again,” You said kissing her on the cheek “That’ll make more sense eventually, I promise,”
“Do you happen to know an archeologist by any chance?”
“I think I know the one you’re referring to. We happen to be friends I’ll have you know,” You blinked staring off into the distance for a second “Well, if you haven't met me yet, I should get going,” You said tapping the travel device and slamming your hand down against it. You vanished.
“Well that definitely was one of the more confusing interactions we’ve had,” Yaz frowned. Electricity fizzed and you reappeared behind them, “Sorry, sorry,” You said making them jump “Doctor, when you see me next, give me this, it’ll make sense to her, maybe. Anyway, onwards,”  You handed her a heavy ring as you spoke, ”I’ve always wanted to die on a foreign planet.” And before she could respond, you vanished into thin air once again.
“How- How did she do that?” Graham asked “And what did she mean? Die on a foriegn planet,”
“Vortex manipulator, nasty way to time travel, bad for the kidneys,” She frowned “as for the death bit, I don’t know,”
It’d been 3 months since the doctor had met you. She had tried to search for you and found nothing. She’d bored the fam to death rambling about time and the way it worked and who you could be and things she’d done to try to track you down. Nothing seemed to work, at one point they’d tried to stage an intervention which did not help as it merely gave her a platform to theorise. Until one day they arrived on Earth.
“Right gang, this is an abandoned building, middle of London. 3 hours to get some stuff done before we set off again,” the doctor said as she pushed the door open. The building outside the doors was definitely not abandoned. It looked like an office, floor to ceiling windows and a beautiful view of London outwards, a desk opposite them.
“Are you sure you’re right? This looks awfully officey for an abandoned building,” Ryan commented with a frown. The room was large, there were a variety of chairs placed around the room, along with a few futuristic looking lights
“No, it’s definitely Earth the gravity feels right,” The doctor answered, she licked her finger and lifted it into the air, “It’s earth, middle of London, Wednesday and it’s 11:02am,” She said a smug smile framing her face, wiping her finger on Yaz despite her protests. A door opened, you stepped out looking younger than the version in the victorian street, dressed in a suit, the opposite to how you were in the street.
“Hello, you’re the doctor, and I presume these are your companions? Assistants? Friends? Whatever you call them now,” You said extending a hand out to the timelord
“Yes, I am and yes they’re friends,” She said taking it “So you’re (Y/N) (L/N) then? What is this place?”
“Yes I am. It’s my office, I’ll explain on the tour, follow me, this way,” You said taking the lead and exiting the room
“We can’t tell her about what we saw, it runs the risk of collapsing reality or potentially ruining a fixed point, which is very, very bad, specifically 4 suitcase fulls and a bus journey full of bad,” The doctor explained in a hushed whisper to the other three
“But what if we could save her? Stop her from believing she’ll die on another planet?” Yaz asked empathetic as always
“Look, we can’t, I’ve tried that before and it ends up worse, we can’t do that. We can’t choose who lives and who dies,” She said glaring at all of them before snapping back to her usual sunny disposition and following you out of the room, the others trailing behind
“We always knew you would visit us at one point, it was inevitable given what we deal with,” You stated
“What is this place? Is this some kind of database an information hub? Why didn’t it show up on TARDIS scanners?” She asked, her list of questions increasing
“No, we’re an institute. Future tech, didn’t want you interfering. We help people, or we try to. London’s best kept secret, used internationally, U.N.I.T. doesn’t even know we exist. It didn’t show up on scanners because we planned for you and we knew that, of we wanted to do our jobs properly we couldn’t have interferences be it human or otherwise, especially not from you,” You replied
“What exactly are you the institute of?” Graham interrupted
“Formally, rehabilitation of former time travelers and people who come into contact with aliens. Informally, cleaning up after the Doctor. We’re The Bad Wolf Institute, formerly known as The Trenzalore institute, but Captain Harkness insisted we change it, after an old friend of yours, I believe”
The doctor froze in her tracks “Sorry? The Bad Wolf institute?”
“Yes, Jack was very insistent, pitched it to Me and she seemed to like the concept. The meeting of human and alien so to speak,”
“Did you just refer to yourself in the third person and first person?” Yaz mumbled
“No, Lady Me founded the institute and is formally the director of it, however, when she is away with one of your former friends or running trap street, I become acting director,” You explained opening a door and ushering them inside “She did claim she was trying to protect the world from you. She kept her word Doctor.” Inside the room was sectioned off areas of ground and a locked cabinet. “Vortex manipulators,” You answered the moment the doctor opened her mouth to ask “Called in a favour from Jack and Torchwood, he owed us after the 456 issue, but we took care of it. Use them to jump planets and time, smooth over any damage you’ve done, better us than the time agents, you know what they’re like.”
“Isn’t that a violation of time having them in the 21st century considering they were invented in the 51st century?”
“Yes, however, we’re erased from future narratives, we’re ghosts in the future, barely echos of echos,”
The doctor stopped suddenly, “How can I trust you? Hm? How do I know you aren’t lying? You could be a trap, a trick,”
“I can pull out a file on any former companion and read it to you.  Amy, Rory, Jack, Martha, Clara, Rose, Harry, Donna, Jamie, pick a name and we’ll find it,” Your tone was neutral, but your face wasn’t harsh.
“Too general, anyone from U.N.I.T can do that, I need something more specific,”
“I was the rep assigned to Amelia and Rory Williams, the Ponds. Visited her, 1946, New York, made some connections for her. Hooked up with an adoption agency, her and Rory adopted a son. She also repeatedly referred to you as raggedy man, and told me you used to eat fishfingers and custard which is something we didn’t have on file. We didn’t add it, you’re allowed some secrets, old man, no matter how vile it sounds,” A smile gracing for face at the last words
“Sorry? You used to be a man?” Graham asked. You chuckled at that, the formal facade finally slipping.
“Yes? That’s what you take away from that Graham? I believe you, no one other than her calls me that.” The doctor nodded at you, pulling the weighted silver ring from one of her many coat pockets “Oh before I forget, someone told me to give you this. They said it was important.”
You examined the ring for a second, a small chuckle escaped you “This was my mother’s, it went missing not long after she died. Never found it, searched the whole house, nothing,” You explained, slipping it on to your finger. “Thank you, I presume it was me then. My future must be in safe hands.”
“How did you- How did you work that out?” Ryan asked
“Time travel, it’s weird,”
“Want to come with us?” The doctor said unexpectedly
“Not especially. I have an institute to look after while Me runs Trap street, ask me again one day and I might just say yes,” You sighed a small wink directed towards her at the end of your sentence “Leave the TARDIS here as long as you’d like, no harm will come to it here.”
And that’s where it began.
Welllp These Are Books: the April 2021 Edition
Tumblr media
I did not read Romeo and Juliet this month. I read a bunch of other books. Like, a bunch. More than one series. Because Big Bang burnout is real and grown adults missing their deadlines is a real good way to stress me out. So, I read a bunch. Good books, very bad books, books that caused limbs to flail. For positive and not-so-positive reasons. Naturally, all those reasons must be shared. Under the cut with occasionally long and rant-prone reviews, as well as spoilers. Beware of spoilers under the cut. Please keep telling me what to read, internet. My library wish list is almost comically long now.
GIVE ME ALL THE WORLD BUILDING AND SNARK AND FIGHTING! WITH MAGIC! AND SWORDS! IT’S MY FAVORITE THING IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!
Shades of Magic Series by V.E. Schwab
Kell is one of the last Antari—magicians with a rare, coveted ability to travel between parallel Londons; Red, Grey, White, and, once upon a time, Black. After an exchange goes awry, Kell escapes to Grey London and runs into Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. Now perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save all of the worlds, they'll first need to stay alive.
— Picture it, approximately twelve forty-seven am. My husband is asleep. I am reading. The second book in this series ends. And I say, right out loud, at what might now be twelve forty-eight am, HOLY SHIT IT JUST ENDED. Justin thought we were under attack. No man has ever snapped awake quicker. He was not pleased. At least not in the same way that I was about these books. Which I goddamn LOVED. Loved. The world building. The magic. The banter. Rhy and Kell’s relationship. Once more. RHY AND KELL’S RELATIONSHIP. Which I might have cared about more than the romance??? Maybe??? I cannot get over how good this world building was. I know people have quips with it, and that’s fair. I saw the “twist” coming in the first book, and I think trying to preserve that left some plot holes that are understandably frustrating. Because Lilah definitely needed depth perception to fight as well as she did. Also did Schwab really refer to her as a cross dresser in her author’s note? Yikes. She wore a dude’s jacket, like—c’mon V.E. Other than that though. I loved it. Also shout out to @peglegsjones for suggesting this one in my 2020 post and call out to me for taking so long to read it.
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can't pull it off alone. . . . A convict with a thirst for revenge. A sharpshooter who can't walk away from a wager. A runaway with a privileged past. A spy known as the Wraith. A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.  A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.   Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Kaz's crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction—if they don't kill each other first.
— I’ve talked about how little I cared about anything that happened in Shadow and Bone before, but I kept seeing gifs of the Crows in the Netflix show and my brain was like: huh, I could like them. So, after some help from the very helpful internet, I’m happy to report I do in fact like them. At one point, I slunk into the couch. Like that’s how overcome with emotion I was. Kaz ripped a dude’s eye out! For Inej! Matthias loved Nina’s laugh! I would like to hug Jesper. Seriously, this hit all my high points and world building and banter and I lol’ed at “scheming face.” I would like my hold to come through faster on the sequel.
THEY DID NOT CALL INTERMISSION HALFTIME AND MY COLLEGE EXPERIENCE WAS WAY DIFFERENT THAN THESE KIDS
The Off Campus Series by Elle Kennedy
Hannah Wells has finally found someone who turns her on. But while she might be confident in every other area of her life, she’s carting around a full set of baggage when it comes to sex and seduction. If she wants to get her crush’s attention, she’ll have to step out of her comfort zone and make him take notice…even if it means tutoring the annoying, childish, cocky captain of the hockey team in exchange for a pretend date. All Garrett Graham has ever wanted is to play professional hockey after graduation, but his plummeting GPA is threatening everything he’s worked so hard for. If helping a sarcastic brunette make another guy jealous will help him secure his position on the team, he’s all for it. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives, it doesn’t take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn’t going to cut it. Now he just has to convince Hannah that the man she wants looks a lot like him.
— The first book in this series was free on Amazon. So, I read it. And really liked it??? It was so chock full of cliches and badly written tropes and Garrett probably should have accepted that Hannah didn’t want to go out at the start, but like—he was cute? And as we all know I am TRASH™ for stories set in the same verse, so, like, I just kept reading these trashy college hockey books. Trashy is a compliment here. God, these kids had so much sex. So much. An incredible amount, really. I once had a guy tell me he was physically attracted to me, but not emotionally attracted to me in college. Like, that was my college experience. The first and second books were the best, I think. I didn’t really like Dean that much.
MAYBE IT WAS BECAUSE HE WAS A RABBI???
The Intimacy Experiement by Rosie Danan
Naomi Grant has built her life around going against the grain. After the sex-positive start-up she cofounded becomes an international sensation, she wants to extend her educational platform to live lecturing. Unfortunately, despite her long list of qualifications, higher ed won't hire her. Ethan Cohen has recently received two honors: LA Mag nominated him as one of the city's hottest bachelors and he became rabbi of his own synagogue. Low on both funds and congregants, the executive board of Ethan's new shul hired him with the hopes that his nontraditional background will attract more millennials to the faith. They've given him three months to turn things around or else they'll close the doors of his synagogue for good. Naomi and Ethan join forces to host a buzzy seminar series on Modern Intimacy, the perfect solution to their problems--until they discover a new one--their growing attraction to each other. They've built the syllabus for love's latest experiment, but neither of them expected they'd be the ones putting it to the test.
— Ok, I know that sounds bad. Again, I’m a creature of predictable habit and this was the sequel to The Roommate, which I absolutely LOVED last year. But where as the relationship in that one was kind of swoony, this one was...I don’t know, really. Everyone was a well-rounded character and the plot was good, but there was this semi-invisible something that made it difficult for me to get fully on board with the whole story. Honestly, it might be because he was a religious figure?? Also, they got together real quick. Like zero to sixty in twenty-six seconds flat.
I KNOW IT’S BAD, IT WAS BAD AND YET—I CANNOT STOP READING IT???
Too Wild to Tame by Tessa Bailey
Sometimes you just can't resist playing with fire . . . By day, Aaron Clarkson suits up, shakes hands, and acts the perfect gentleman. But at night, behind bedroom doors, the tie comes off and the real Aaron comes out to play. Mixing business with pleasure got him fired, so Aaron knows that if he wants to work for the country's most powerful senator, he'll have to keep his eye on the prize. That's easier said than done when he meets the senator's daughter, who's wild, gorgeous, and 100 percent trouble. Grace Pendleton is the black sheep of her conservative family. Yet while Aaron's presence reminds her of a past she'd rather forget, something in his eyes keeps drawing her in. Maybe it's the way his voice turns her molten. Or maybe it's because deep down inside, the ultra-smooth, polished Aaron Clarkson might be more than even Grace can handle . . .
— Last month I read the first book in this series and it was absolutely ridiculous. This one even more so. The Clarksons are still on the road trip (sans one sibling because she fell in love in a week in the first book) and Aaron was, like, not a root’able character? Very Edward Cullen I’M A BAD GUY, BELLA vibes and his relationship with Grace was so strange. Super rushed again, obvs. Meeting in the woods is weird enough. Professing love forty-eight hours later is decidedly unbelievable. Also there was a kidnapping involved? I totally put a hold on the next book in the series.
COME UP WITH DIFFERENT TRAUMA, I DARE YOU! OR NO TRAUMA. WHAT A CONCEPT!!
The Trouble With Hating You by Sajni Patel
Liya Thakkar is a successful biochemical engineer, takeout enthusiast, and happily single woman. The moment she realizes her parents' latest dinner party is a setup with the man they want her to marry, she's out the back door in a flash. Imagine her surprise when the same guy shows up at her office a week later -- the new lawyer hired to save her struggling company. What's not surprising: he's not too thrilled to see her either after that humiliating fiasco.
Jay Shah looks good on paper...and off. Especially if you like that whole gorgeous, charming lawyer-in-a-good-suit thing. He's also infuriating. As their witty office banter turns into late-night chats, Liya starts to think he might be the one man who truly accepts her. But falling for each other means exposing their painful pasts. Will Liya keep running, or will she finally give love a real chance?
— I had such high hopes for this one. Which is on me, I guess. Because I didn’t hate this one, but it was...not great. Maybe I’m just getting old and crotchety but I am BEGGING romance writers to come up with different trauma for their female protagonists. Not every woman has to have been assaulted to rationalize their current personality. Doesn’t have to happen. Like, ok, yes it does happen. Far more than it should. But that’s an entirely different story, and I am so tired of female characters getting absolutely destroyed by their past only to have that be their defining characteristic for so much of the book. Until a nice man they were initially mean to shows up and he’s UNDERSTANDING and he CARES and it’s just, bleh. It’s bleh. Tired and predictable and I’m over it.
IN WHICH I SHOULD HAVE LOOKED AT THE COVER
Much Ado About You by Samantha Young
At thirty-three-years old Evangeline Starling’s life in Chicago is missing that special something. And when she’s passed over for promotion at work, Evie realizes she needs to make a change. Some time away to regain perspective might be just the thing. In a burst of impulsivity, she plans a holiday in a quaint English village. The holiday package comes with a temporary position at Much Ado About Books, the bookstore located beneath her rental apartment. There’s no better dream vacation for the bookish Evie, a life-long Shakespeare lover. Not only is Evie swept up in running the delightful store as soon as she arrives, she’s drawn into the lives, loves and drama of the friendly villagers. Including Roane Robson, the charismatic and sexy farmer who tempts Evie every day with his friendly flirtations. Evie is determined to keep him at bay because a holiday romance can only end in heartbreak, right? But Evie can’t deny their connection and longs to trust in her handsome farmer that their whirlwind romance could turn in to the forever kind of love.
— Ok, so I had had this book on hold for so long that I genuinely forgot about it and forgot who it was written by. Samantha Young wrote that one book that I called the worst book I had ever read. Only I did not realize that when I started reading this one. So, you see how this sets us up for disaster. Because this book was a disaster. Everyone was goddamn annoying. And whiny. Shit, everyone whined. About everything. Also, the actual writing was atrocious. I am not usually one to be like “men can’t write,” but at one point I told both @shireness-says and @optomisticgirl that this book must have been secretly written by a man because no woman writing it would be so obsessed with pointing out where her cellulite was. Like, what??? Also the first sex scene? Oh my God, I laughed. Guffawed. The so-called love interest literally asked: “Are we going to have sex now?” And then they just did. It was so bad. Also there was a dog? Who went everywhere with the so-called love interest. And they just never explained that? I thought it was going to be part of some crushing and depressing backstory. Nah, he was just there.
HOLY SHIT THIS WAS SO DUMB I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS WAS A BOOK! A BOOK MEANT FOR YOUNG ADULTS! WHAT IS YOUNG ADULT???
The Queen’s Secret by Melissa de la Cruz
Lilac's birthright makes her the Queen of Renovia, and a forced marriage made her the Queen of Montrice. But being a ruler does not mean making the rules. For Lilac, taking the throne means giving up the opportunity to be with love of her life, the kingdom's assassin, Caledon Holt. Worse, Cale is forced to leave the castle when a horrific set of magical attacks threatens Lilac's sovereignty. Now Cal eand Lilac will have to battle dark forces separately, even though being together is the only thing that's ever saved them.
— Remember last month when I was like: can’t wait for my hold to come through on this sequel so I know what happens? What an idiot. THIS BOOK WAS SO DUMB I CANNOT BELIEVE IT WAS A BOOK. As always in my rage-induced rants, no apologies for spoilers because seriously do NOT read this, but Lilac (legit, that was her name) married some other dude but just kept fucking Cale??? Like she had a secret door? So he could come in and they could fuck?? I just—oh my God. So, all these things kept happening. Magic and bad stuff and horses were killed. Lilac’s mother was the absolute WORST. Honestly the most worthless character who at one point was like “well, my story is over, guess it’s time to leave,” and then just left?? Forced Lilac into a marriage of alliance and no love and then everything evil was defeated in point two four seconds. It happened so fast I wasn’t even sure it happened. So, then I’m like, ok, how are Lilac and Cale going to end up together? Because this is YA and that’s how it’s supposed to work. Only her being married and that marriage requiring an heir is something of a rather large hurdle. Don’t worry! Remember when Lilac and Cale were fucking? Everyone totally knew. Including the king Lilac is married to. Who is somehow like...ok with this? And tells Cale that Lilac is pregnant. ISN’T THAT WONDERFUL! Sure, because now they can lie and claim its the king’s heir. ONLY IT’S CALE’S KID! AND CALE IS COOL WITH THIS! His entire internal monologue during this is about how he realizes he might not ever be able to tell his kid he’s their father, but he’ll be around and that’s good. Wait, what??? But there’s more! Not only is Lilac having Cale’s kid, but the king she’s married to is in love with one of Cale’s spy associates. So the king and the spy are going to go hang out (and presumably have their own kids) at one castle and Lilac and Cale are going to go to another. Lilac and the king never get divorced or annulled or whatever. Everyone stays as is and married as is and—they all live happily ever after? This was presented as a good ending, I swear. What the shit, guys, seriously.
Comfortember 2020 in 2021: Day 07 Blanket Fort
Day 07: Blanket Fort
Steve makes a blanket fort, then tells Bucky some of his favorite memories he has of the two of them.
Warning: there is some use of offensive slang from the 1930s (fairy, pansy). In my opinion, this was the LEAST offensive rude term I could find from that decade. If you are offended, don't worry. The characters who use this word are gonna get the shit kicked out of them. ;)
Warning 2: brief mention of nsfw innuendoes
Word Count: 1,299
****
Brooklyn: 1931
“Bucky, where are we going?” 13 year-old Steve asks as he follows his friend to the outskirts of the city.
“You’ll see,” Bucky responds with a smirk. He reaches out a hand to help Steve step up onto the steep platform. When Steve takes his hand, his heart does a flip. He was used to his heart palpitations, so he didn’t think too much of it. Besides, Bucky had been talking about this secret place all week. Nothing was going to stop Steve from seeing it.
“C’mon, it’s just up here,” Bucky leads. He’s still holding onto Steve’s hand as he leads him up the steep makeshift stairs of boxes until the two of them are perched on top of a two-story building overlooking where the Fresh Creek meets the Jamaica Bay. It was a clear, warm summer evening. The sun was just beginning to dip below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the city. Gorgeous reds, oranges, and yellows illuminated the sky and reflected off of the water.
"Bucky… it's beautiful!" Steve sighs, a smile spreading across his face.
"Happy birthday," Bucky responded. He and Steve stood in silence as they watched the sun continue to set, neither of them bothering to let go of the other's hand.
****
Brooklyn: 1935 (this is where offensive stuff happens)
Bucky had turned down every girl in their grade who tried to flirt with him. He even declined the most popular girl in the school. It wasn't that he wasn't interested in spending time with them. He just didn't have that time to spend. Every day after school, he would head down to the docks to work a shift that usually lasted until 10 or 11 at night. Then, he would down a cup of cold, bitter coffee and try to finish his homework.
The students didn't know about all of that. Only Steve knew because they were roommates. Bucky and Steve would walk to school together, then walk part way home before Bucky had to turn. At first, it was all just silly rumors that nobody believed.
Then, Henrietta, the school's most popular girl, claimed she saw Bucky kissing an older man. The rumor was completely untrue, and just something she made up because she was angry he wouldn't take her on a date. But the rest of the school, even some of the teachers, all bought it.
Bucky and Steve remained oblivious to these rumors until one fateful evening. Bucky wasn't able to make it to the docks in time to score a job that evening, so he decided to just walk home and catch up on some algebra. He ran into a few of the athletic students heading to practice.
"Hey, look, Christopher! Is it just me or is that the ugliest dame I've ever seen?" One of the students began. Bucky took a quick look around to see who he was talking about, but it was just the three of them on the sidewalk and a few other gentlemen. Bucky was going to brush it off when he heard Christopher's reply.
"That ain't a dame, Robert, it's a fairy! Still plain ugly, though!"
Oh shit… Bucky felt his stomach sink. He did not need this right now. He sped up in the hopes of getting somewhere more crowded, where he might avoid the interaction.
"Hey! Any chance you wanna sprinkle some fairy dust? Might be a nice warm up!" Robert jeered.
"Yeah! I could use a magic touch right about now!" Christopher cackled.
Bucky was almost to the main road when a third voice chimed in.
"Why don't you goons shut up?!"
Bucky didn't have to turn around to know it was Steve. But, he did turn around. Standing in front of two overly muscled men was his tiny best friend, looking at them with a clenched jaw and curled fists. Bucky was going to kill him when they got back home.
"Hey, look! It's the pansy!" Robert cackled. Steve didn't hesitate to kick him between the legs. Robert was down. The force of the kick nearly sent him sprawling on his back, but he managed to recover in time for Christopher to sock him in the jaw. He was standing over Steve, ready to give him Hell, when Bucky shoved him out of the way. Christopher toppled over Robert, who was still on the ground.
Bucky held out a hand to help Steve to his feet. He gladly accepted with a lopsided grin. The two ran through the alleys and streets of their city, their hands still locked together.
They made it back to their apartment in record time. Both slumped against the door while Steve tried to catch his breath.
"Jesus, Stevie!" Bucky gasped. "What the Hell were you thinkin'?"
Steve took a few deep breaths, then replied. "They can't talk to you like that. Nobody can talk to you like that!"
"Those guys could've killed both of us without breaking a sweat! They can call me whatever they want as long as they're not throwing punches!" Bucky laughed.
"Yeah, well, they had it coming," Steve grumbled.
Bucky turned to look at him. "And what does that mean?"
"Marissa said Robert put his hand on her flank," Steve explained. "Wasn't the first time, either."
Bucky sighed and cupped Steve's face so they were looking into each other's eyes. "Stevie, you can't keep picking fights like that, even if it's for a good cause. I don't like seeing you get hurt, doll."
"I can handle myself, Buck," Steve insisted.
"I know. But I can't handle losing you. Be careful."
****
Brooklyn: 1941
Steve laid his head on Bucky's chest, listening to the steady thumping of his heart. Bucky ran a hand through his partner's soft blonde hair to soothe him.
Pearl Harbor had been attacked earlier. Hours ago, the two of them had been in art class together when their instructor revealed the news. The carefree atmosphere of the class became tense as they listened to the radio report. Steve and Bucky knew before it was announced that this meant America was joining the war.
Steve knew that because America was joining the war, he and Bucky would be separated. Bucky, with his excellent physical abilities and intellect would likely see the battlefield. He would be the one to lead America to victory. Steve however, would be lucky to get accepted at all. He was probably going to be staying home, collecting scrap metal and manufacturing supplies.
Even though Bucky was strong, he wasn't immortal. Steve secretly feared that Bucky might not make it back. Then, Steve would be left alone to mourn with the other military families.
Steve didn't tell any of this to Bucky. He didn't have to. Bucky knew Steve's father gave his life during the previous world war. No doubt that fear was plaguing his mind. But Steve remained quiet, savoring what he feared may be some of his last moments with the love of his life.
****
Present day:
"Either of those sound familiar?" Steve asked after he finished his stories.
Bucky bit his lip and turned away. Steve felt his heart crack.
"I guess… I guess what I'm trying to say is, I care about you, Buck. That's why I'm doing all this. You mean a lot to me, even if you don't remember."
Steve had tried just about everything he could think of to help Bucky remember their past. He made a blanket fort like when they were kids and the power would go out during thunderstorms. He made his Ma's famous hot chocolate. He told just about every romantic memory he could think of. Nothing was working.
Steve was starting to wonder if he'd ever get Bucky back, or if he really did lose him in the war.
Title: Live for the Night Relationship(s): Komaeda Nagito/Hinata Hajime  Rating: Explicit Summary: Hinata has been single for quite a long time. Wingman Souda seeks to change that by bringing him to his favourite nightclub and introducing him to his rave buddies. Hinata, however, has eyes for much less favourable company. Based on @devilcouldweep‘s Rave AU Trigger Warnings: Recreational drug use, alcohol, sex under the influence, Mentions of drug overdose, discussions of stabbings, Public sex. Disclaimer: Other old fic with some stuff I’m embarrassed about. Quality is lower.
[Ao3 Link]
♫♪.ılılıll|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|llılılı.♫♪
"Souda…I look like a twink."
Hinata stared at himself in the mirror, reflecting on how long it had taken him to wrangle those fishnets that now clung to his chest and three quarters of the way down his arms. The elastic around his neck rubbed uncomfortably against his adam’s apple and every now and then the netting would catch on his nipples. The stockings had been much worse to put on, but weren’t uncomfortable in the same way the top was.
Over the fishnet top was a white crop top he had borrowed from Souda that sported a neon sunset and the words ‘Jabberwock.’ He recalled thinking ‘What the fuck is a Jabberwock?’ whilst slipping it on. To cover the fishnets on his lower half he wore a pair of ripped skinny jeans, less ripped and more gutted than anything. And to top it all off were these white platform sneakers he’d bought because they were ‘cool’ way before he realised they were platforms. Oh well, it’s not like he couldn’t use a few extra inches.
Hinata crossed his arms over his midsection, a pathetic attempt to hide the exposed skin. Souda simply laughed, joining his soul friend's side and slinging an arm over his shoulder. "That's the point man! We gotta reel you in some dick somehow!"
Hinata groaned as the boy cackled, threading his fingers under the fishnets adorning his hips. This was the first time he'd worn something like this, and no amount of shitty vodka cruisers were making him feel less insecure.
Souda himself was wearing these baggy pants with reflective stripes and numerous pockets and a pair of those popular light up shoes, the ones that change colour with every step. On the top half he wore a studded white leather harness that settled snugly just below his pecs and a sleeveless hoodie to make him look almost modest. His hair was it’s usual dyed neon pink and spiked as if he intended to use it as a weapon.
“Souda...you know I give more than I take, right?” Hinata muttered, almost offended that his ever-so-supportive friend had just assumed he was a bottom.
“Well lately you haven’t been doing either!” Souda grabbed his shoulders with both hands, practically shaking the poor boy. “C’mon man you look sooo good! If I was gay I’d fuck you!”
Hinata rolled his eyes. “I’ve never met a straight man who’d wear a harness.”
“Uh, what about, literally every dog ever?”
“You’re not a dog.”
“Whatever! Let’s just go!”
Hinata snorted. It seemed entertaining Souda in his shitty attempts to get him a boyfriend was going to pay off. “Yeah, okay.”
“Yeah!” Souda cheered, pumping his right fist in the air and slapping Hinata’s ass with his left hand simultaneously. He couldn’t even be embarrassed, not when it was from So-not-gay Souda.
The duo took a cab to their destination, despite Souda insisting that they should walk to save money. Hinata would pay anything to not be seen outside in this. Especially not by somebody he knew. They were headed to a rave club in a less favourable part of town, one Souda insisted ‘wasn’t as bad as it seems!’ It was definitely as bad as it seems, like, there had been 3 stabbings in that club. Twice it had been the same fucking guy, and Hinata wasn’t sure if he should chalk that up to bad luck or blatant idiocy. Who would go to a club where they had already been stabbed once, just to get stabbed again?
Souda seemed to notice that Hinata’s thoughts were quickly going in a poor direction, so he decided to distract him with idle chatter. “I think you’ll like some of my friends there.”
Hinata turned to the boy sitting to his left, wearing a rather curious expression. “You have friends?”
“Shut up, you’re awful!” Souda whined, trying to sound mad but failing miserably. “Anyway, there’s this guy named Tanaka, he works at a zoo, how fucking cool is that?! Though he refers to himself as ‘The Supreme Overlord of Ice.’ I think it’s meant to be some kind of stage name or something?”
Stage name? What fucking stage is he working on at a zoo?
“Sounds like quite the character, huh.” Hinata murmured.
“You’ll get it when you meet him!” Souda beamed, glancing out the window. “Oh hey, we're almost there!”
The nervousness Hinata was feeling finally overtook the embarrassment. Souda gave him a reassuring tap on the shoulder as the taxi pulled up outside of the club. He could already hear the muffled music blaring from inside.
Hinata paid the driver and the two of them stepped out. The first thing they noticed was how fucking cold that breeze was, espeically when neither of them had proper sleeves. They both rushed towards the entrance, the bouncer barely looking at them before allowing them in. Hinata added that to the list of 'things that make this place sketchy.'
Nothing could have prepared him for the absolute assault on his senses that occured the second he entered the building. Loud music with heavy bass blared throughout the venue, drowning out the sound of Souda excitedly chattering next to him. The air reeked of sweat, booze, and artificial smoke. The strobe lights dancing around the place were quite dizzying, something that forced Hinata to look down to avoid the nausea. Oh, his shirt is glowing, they must be using blue light.
Hinata took a moment to admire the neon on his shirt, beginning to understand exactly why Souda had lent him this one in particular. It looked much less tacky and actually kind of cool under the bright lights.
“Oi, Hinata!”
A voice close to his ear startled him. He jumped back, sighing with relief once he realised it was only Souda. He too was glowing under the nights, his neon pink hair shining like a beacon and the leather harness glowed a soft shade of blue. It was really aesthetically pleasing.
“Yeah, what’s up?” Hinata spoke loudly, trying to make himself heard above the music.
“I’m gonna go find Tanaka and Mioda, you wanna get started at the bar?”
“Yeah, alright.”
And in the blink of an eye Souda was gone. Hinata sighed, disappointed but not surprised that his friend had run off almost immediately. He stepped out onto the dancefloor, shoving his way through the numerous bustling bodies and making his way towards the glowing neon lights of the bar.
He finally made it out, breathing a sigh of relief as he leant his elbows onto the scarred wood of the bar. If the amount of people wasn’t already overwhelming, the atmosphere just strangled the breath from him. It felt as if eyes were boring into him from all directions, judging, enticing. Hinata shook off the feeling, drawing it up to just nerves and the sensation of his exposed skin.
“Can I get you anything?” A voice snapped him from his thoughts, Hinata looked up, seeing the bartender staring him down like an unwanted guest.
He swallowed the nervous lump in his throat. “U-um, yeah...could I get a shot of Smirnoffs?
The bartender nodded and grabbed a bottle from under the bar. She carefully poured him a shot of the cheap vodka, sliding it towards him before wandering off to serve other customers. She was quite a busty lady, definitely put in this kind of place as a means of encouraging more people to buy more overpriced liquor. She sounded cheery as she sparked up conversations with clubgoers, but Hinata could see those dark bags under her eyes, the way her smile dimmed as she listened to them. It was quite obvious she hated her job and was well aware that she was being exploited.
Hinata lifted the small glass to his lips, downing the shot quickly before setting the glass back down on the counter. He sighed off the burn and turned around, scanning the crowd to see if he could find Souda.
Instead of Souda, Hinata found his eye being caught by the boy to his left who was also leaning against the bar. He hadn’t been there a moment before, but Hinata was immediately intrigued by his glowing blue hair and odd getup, one not so different from his own.
His hair was a gravity defying mess, with the blue glow it reminded Hinata a bit of cotton candy. His chest was clad in a cropped fishnet quite similar to his own, though his arms were covered by a dark coloured coat decorated with glowing blue squares on the right shoulder. There was a pair of green and pink glow sticks fixed to his left sleeve just above the elbow, similar to how a student council member wore a red armband. Perhaps it symbolised something in a similar way?
Below his exposed waist was a pair of low riding jeans that were a bit lighter in colour, but not light enough to pick up the blue light. His belt was, however, along with the cuffs of his jeans resting just below the knee above his boots. Speaking of the boots, they were...eccentric. They were sharp with a pointed toe and a slight heel and somehow made Hinata feel a little less insecure about his own choice in dangerous footwear.
The boy must have noticed Hinata’s gawking because as his eyes wandered back up he found that stare being returned. His breath caught in his throat as he tried to mutter out an apology. The boy interrupted him before he could get it out, however.
“You’re new.” He smiled, leaning in close to make sure his voice was heard. “What’s your name?”
Hinata forced his hands into his pockets, trying to look as casual as possible as if he hadn’t been ogling the boy just a moment ago. “Hinata Hajime.”
“Hinata Hajime…” Komaeda practically rolled the words around on his tongue. “May I call you Hinata-kun?”
“Sure. What about you, what’s your name?” Hinata narrowed his eyes, feeling a bit frustrated that the alcohol wasn’t taking the edge off his anxiety.
“Ah, how rude of me. My name is Komaeda Nagito, you can call me whatever you please.” Komaeda smiled widely, as if exchanging names was further than he expected to get. “What brings you to Hope’s Summit?”
“Eh, I was peer pressured into coming by a friend.” Hinata muttered, a little embarrassed now that he had to explain his presence to a stranger. “I don’t usually come to places like this…”
Komaeda pursed his lips together, bringing his hand to his chin. “Hm, that makes sense. I’m quite the regular here, but mostly because I-”
“OI! HINATA!!”
Hinata snapped around, not listening to the end of Komaeda’s sentence. Souda was waving from the crowd, quickly approaching him with two other people trailing behind him.
“Oh, how awkward. I’m gonna head off. I hope to see you again, Hinata-kun.” Komaeda spoke softly, but just loud enough for only Hinata to hear.
Hinata turned back around to farewell Komaeda but he was already gone, likely he had already slipped into the crowd. He sighed, bringing his full attention back to the excited boy in front of him.
“Mioda, Tanaka, this is Hinata, my soul friend! Hinata, this is Mioda and Tanaka, my rave friends!” Souda beamed, hopping up and down and gesturing wildly.
“Hajime-chan!” A girl with black hair dyed with colourful streaks that had been styled up into horns practically squealed upon seeing Hinata, instantly rushing up to him and throwing her arms around the confused boy. “Kazuichi-chan never shuts up about you! So, are you into moshing? Raving? OOOOH you HAVE to listen to my songs!!”
The scene girl stared at Hinata with wide eyes that practically sparkled in the dark. He took a small step, only to bump straight into the other boy that Souda had introduced, Tanaka.
“Be cautious, mortal! It appears that despite only having entered this building mere moments ago, you have already encountered a cursed being…” He boomed in a gruff voice, grabbing hold of Hinata’s shoulders.
This only startled him further, leading Hinata to push Tanaka away from him. “Take a step back! Geez! What the fuck are you saying?”
“Guys I know you’re excited but give him room.” Souda stepped between Hinata and Mioda, encouraging the girl to exit his personal space. “Tanaka was just pointing out the fact you were talking to...what’s that guy’s name again?”
“Komaeda.” Hinata mumbled.
“Komaeda! Right.” Souda affirmed, smiling a little
“OOH! Creepy drug dealer Komaeda?” Mioda somehow sounded rather excited about that.
“Creepy drug dealer?” Hinata questioned.
Tanaka nodded. “That’s correct. That fiend uses this venue as a means of dispensing his poison.”
“Yeah, yeah! One of Ibuki’s friends O’Ded on a bunch of the pills he sold him! He’s no good! He doesn’t even dance!”
Hinata was a little confused. Yeah the guy was intimidating but not...creepy? Also, isn’t it the responsibility of whoever’s taking the drugs not to take too many? It’s not like Komaeda shoved them down his throat… Though admittedly the prospect of Komaeda being a drug dealer did put him off a little.
“He doesn’t seem that bad.” Hinata defended him, despite not really being sure why.
“You should probably stay away from him anyway, Hinata bro. C’mon, there’s plenty of other fish in the sea!” Souda cheered, slapping him hard on the back.
The other boy winced, feeling somewhat shaken by the events that were going down. Man he expected Souda’s friends to be eccentric but...they were fucking crazy. He almost wanted to go back to chatting with chill cotton candy boy. At least he respected boundaries.
“Right, sure. Hey, I’ve already had a few drinks so I’m gonna go take a piss. Feel free to get started without me.” Hinata flashed the group a forced smile, before dashing off into the crowd before any of them could object.
Once he felt thoroughly out of sight, he sighed loudly. It was weird that he felt more comfortable being surrounded by random people who weren’t talking to him than he did with that little bundle of freaks. That was until that comfortable mass of people suddenly reached out and grabbed ahold of his wrist. He froze in pure fear.
“Hinata-kun! How lucky it is that I get to see you again!”
His racing heart slowed a little as he recognised the voice along with that fluffy bundle of hair and much too exposed chest. It was just Komaeda, creepy drug dealer Komaeda.
“Jesus christ please don’t scare me like that!” He hissed, drawing in a little closer so he could properly hear the other boy.
Komaeda laughed cheekily, giving Hinata a big grin. “I’m going to assume your friends told you about the kind of person I am, huh?”
“Huh? Were you listening or something?”
“No, but it’s what most people who drag newcomers along do. I’m surprised they didn’t warn you earlier!”
“...Is that why you pounced on me at the bar?”
Komaeda bit his lip, averting his gaze a little. “Ah, I must have come on too strongly. I'm sorry, it’s not often people don’t outwardly reject me. Not that they aren’t right to do so, I’m quite worthless trash, after all.”
Hinata ignored the self deprecation, deciding to instead tackle the root of the problem. “So Komaeda, why do you come here then?”
“Socialisation, appreciation of the music, the fact the business doesn’t care if I deal here, I can dress like a male stripper without being judged. There’s a few reasons Hinata-kun, would you like to hear more?”
Hinata shook his head, feeling a little embarrassed by the fact Komaeda actually admitted the last one. “No no that’s enough. So uh, why do you deal drugs?”
“Hmm, why do you think I deal drugs, Hinata-kun?”
Hinata pressed a fist to his lips in thought. “Poor financial situation?”
Komaeda cackled as if it was the funniest thing he’d ever heard before shaking his head. “No, god, if anything it’s the opposite. I do it because it’s fun. I like giving people a new perspective on the world, a chance to enjoy themselves even more so than usual.”
“I see…” Hinata mumbled. “You aren’t dealing any like...hard drugs, are you?”
Komaeda waved his hands innocently. “No no not at all. I’ve tried heroin, that stuff is way too addictive for me to just be passing it around. I don’t deal any kinds of opioids at all, actually. Mostly just cannabis, MDMA, LSD occasionally. Oh! And ketamine, that’s been really popular recently.” He clapped his hands together in completion.
“Wow...so Mioda’s friend who overdosed-”
“Was an idiot, yes.” Komaeda sighed, rolling his eyes and crossing his over his chest. “I did tell him to slow down, but you know how people can be. Getting overzealous isn’t going to make you any higher.”
“I guess...” Hinata was feeling a little guilty for bringing up something that obviously frustrated Komaeda. “Is that kind of high really worth risking your health for?”
“Well, if you’re smart about it you’re usually fine. Especially with stuff like ecstasy, the serotonin drawback is easily managed and the high is…” Komaeda’s lips curved into an impossibly wide grin and his voice dipped a little. “It’s really worth it.”
“R-really? I have heard that ecstasy is one of the more enjoyable drugs you can do...”
“Mm? You wanna try some?” Komaeda smirked, reaching into his coat pocket before pulling his hand out to reveal a small baggie containing several hot pink coloured tablets.
Hinata’s brain instantly recoiled. Years of anti-drug and peer pressure campaigns told him he absolutely shouldn’t. He didn’t know this man, he didn’t know this drug. Smoking weed in Souda’s garage didn’t compare to doing ecstasy with a complete stranger.
And yet he was completely entranced as Komaeda plucked a pill from the bag between two fingers. He smirked, looking down at the other boy like a predator eyeing up it’s prey.
“The choice is yours, Hinata-kun.”
Komaeda poked out his tongue, carefully placing the neon tablet onto it. Hinata felt as if he was on fire, especially after hearing his name on those sultry lips. The pill glowed under the bluelight, beginning to dissolve from Komaeda’s saliva. The boy huffed, urging him to make the decision before it disappeared completely.
That was enough to send the blood straight from the decision making centre of his brain and straight to the teenage boy part of his brain that said ‘Fuck it; he’s really hot.’
Hinata grabbed the taller boy, wrapping his fingers in the little fishnet crop top he wore. He stuck his own tongue out, pulling Komaeda in closely until their tongues made contact and he could pull the pill onto his own. It tasted bitter and tarty, but that elated look on Komaeda’s face kept him from pulling away.
The other boy took over, pushing the pill further onto Hinata’s tongue until the kiss had returned to his mouth. He eyed Hinata’s throat closely, continuing to kiss him deeply whilst watching for that telltale bob of his throat which came moments later. He’d swallowed it.
Komaeda broke off the kiss, not missing the little whine that left Hinata’s throat as he pulled away. He took another pill from the baggie and placed it on his tongue again before shoving the rest in his pocket. “H-huh...you want me to take two? Is that even safe...?” Hinata stammered, eyeing the other boy cautiously.
Komaeda drew his tongue back into his mouth, dry swallowing the pill as if it was what he was born to do.  “What? You thought you were the only one getting high? I can give you another if you’d like.”
“No no, I just assumed you were already high…” Hinata spoke at a normal volume, which made him quite difficult to hear.
Komaeda broke into a fit of laughter, startling Hinata. “Oh wow you really haven’t done this before have you? I’m not going to give you any more, one is more than enough.”
Logical thought was starting to return to Hinata; he was nervous now. “That’s fine...uh...what should I expect?”
“Oh, right. It takes about half an hour to an hour to kick in. You’ll probably feel nauseous first. If you need to hurl, just let it happen. You should start feeling the effects not long after that.” Komaeda took a hold of Hinata’s hand, rubbing his thumb over his knuckles reassuringly.
“Right. Cool. That’s exciting. Uh, say Komaeda…” Hinata trailed off for a few seconds, but jumped back in to the sentence before the other boy could question it. “You mentioned earlier that you like the music right? What kind of artists are you into?”
“Hmm, I’m into more obscure artists than anything. Uhhhh...Have you heard of EDEN?”
“Never. “
“That’s unfortunate. What about...Deadmau5?”
“Oh I know him! Classic. Not a big fan of his songs though. Have you heard of David Guetta?”
Komaeda clicked his tongue. “Of course. Generic, but he has some good songs.. Porter Robinson?”
“Ehh I’ve vaguely heard of him? What about Dillon Francis?”
“Also painfully generic. Krewella?”
“Don’t know 'em. Martin Garrix?”
“Appeals too much to the masses. Uhm surely you’ve heard of Daft Punk?”
“Duh, who hasn’t. Their music’s a little too mellow for me, though. Avicii?”
“GOD Avicii! His music is brilliant. All his songs are quite tragic to listen to now though.” Komaeda breathed a sigh of relief, thankful they could find common ground amongst Hinata’s painfully vanilla taste. “Such an unfortunate loss of somebody with such shining hope…”
Hinata nodded in agreement, also recalling how heartbreaking it was to lose such a talented artist. They chatted for a short while about their favourite songs by him, bonding over their attachment to the lyrics.  As if on queue actually, one of his songs started playing loudly over the speakers littered throughout the venue. The Nights, specifically.
“Huh. Ironic.” He murmured.
“Is it? He was a very talented and popular DJ after all.”
“Whatever! Dance with me.”
Hinata hadn’t noticed Komaeda let go of his hand during their conversation, so naturally it was his duty to remedy that. He grabbed ahold of those skinny fingers, pulling Komaeda closer.
Komaeda was quite surprised by Hinata’s sudden burst of confidence, but most certainly welcomed it. It wasn’t before long that they were both belting out the lyrics as loudly as they could whilst clinging to one another and swaying. Hinata felt absolutely ecstatic, as if he was walking on air with the prettiest boy in this stupid place.
Until the nausea hit him like a sack of bricks.
He gagged against Komaeda’s shoulder, cupping his hand over his mouth aggressively. Komaeda wasn’t kidding when he said he was probably gonna throw up, geez…
“Ah, sorry Hinata-kun, I wasn’t paying attention.” Komaeda chuckled softly as he slid his hand up the other boy’s arm a little, pressing his thumb into the soft part of his wrist an inch or so below his palm. Almost immediately Hinata’s nausea began to ease off, leaving him feeling quite delirious.
“Wh-what kind of spell did you just cast on me, Komaeda?” Hinata stared at Komaeda as if he were a god among men.
“It’s a pressure point.” He smirked, drawing in a little closer to bask in Hinata’s loving gaze. “If you feel better than you’ll probably be fine, luck is on our side.”
Hinata giggled, using his free hand to place his hand on Komaeda’s face. “You’re pretty.”
Komaeda returned the gesture, despite being a little upset Hinata completely ignored his explanation. “You’re high.”
“We both are! Y’know what that means?”
“What does it mean, Hinata-kun?”
Hinata answered the question by planting his lips on Komaeda’s. Which wasn’t really an answer, but he leaned into the kiss regardless.
It took no time at all for Hinata’s innocent kiss to turn more intimate. Soft swipes of wet tongues had the two of them melting into each other. Hinata’s hands roamed higher, fingers wrapping in those messy blue curls as he revelled in the texture. Komaeda’s hands drifted lower, settling on the other boy’s exposed hips as he lightly brushed his fingers over the skin.
Hinata curled a small chunk of hair around his fingers and tugged harshly, pulling Komaeda’s face even closer as their teeth knocked together. A low moan left his throat, absolutely enthralled by the pain rippling through his skull. This only roused Hinata further; the boy suddenly grinding his hips into Komaeda’s.
In all honesty, Komaeda didn’t expect to get this far. Of course he was attracted to Hinata, especially the innocent way he assumed no ill in his intentions. And Hinata was quite obviously attracted to him, evident by the was he completely undressed Komaeda with his eyes upon their first encounter. Hinata shouldn’t have come back after learning he was unfavourable company. Hinata shouldn’t have so easily warmed up to him. Hinata most certainly shouldn’t have taken that pill right off his tongue. Komaeda just kept pushing and pushing, trying his luck even further and it just kept working.
It was wrong, dangerous, but he couldn’t stop. Especially not now that both of them had  basically thrown away all fear and impulse control with just one little pill.
So Komaeda did the same thing he had been doing all night, acting on those shameful urges of his. His hands slid over Hinata’s hip bones, then down to squeeze his ass through his jeans. Hinata startled, squeaking as he pulled back to take a breath of air.
Both of them were left panting, the room feeling significantly warmer than before. Not once did they break eye contact whilst trying to regain their breath, as if each one was trying to figure out what the other was thinking. Surprisingly enough, it was Komaeda this time who decided to make his desires clear.
He leaned closer, down as close as he could get to Hinata’s ear before whispering out one word, “More.”
Hinata moaned loudly, despite all that was done to him was purely audial. Komaeda couldn’t help but laugh, bewildered by the odd reaction. He went to straighten back up, but Hinata’s grip in his hair tightened. “K-keep talking…”
“Hmm? What would you like to hear,” Komaeda’s voice dropped an octave as he dragged the name out, “Hi-na-ta-kun?”
A whimper was contained behind Hinata’s lips as he pressed his thighs together, a weak attempt to steady his building arousal. Komaeda smirked, knowing he’d hit the mark. The drug was making Hinata’s hearing sensitive, so every sound felt better than it was in reality. He couldn’t deny that he was feeling the same way, but right now there was only one sound he wanted to hear.
Komaeda kissed his temple, trailing light little kisses down Hinata’s jaw until he settled on a soft part of his neck, giving it a curious lick. The other boy writhed beneath him, practically begging Komaeda to do something. He sunk his teeth in, eliciting a high pitched whine from the other boy as he pushed himself even closer.
“Komaed-aaaaa!” Hinata squealed, hitching his leg around the other’s waist. Komaeda wrapped his arms around Hinata’s back, ensuring neither of them lost their balance in the process. He sucked at the irritated skin, occasionally grazing his teeth across the wound. Hinata seemed to be getting a lot of pleasure out of it, judging by the way he rubbed his crotch against the front of Komaeda’s jeans. Komaeda couldn’t deny that he was mimicking those motions himself.
“K-komaeda...I can’t- I can’t keep doing this…” Hinata huffed, seemingly out of breath.
Komaeda pulled away from the boy’s neck feeling a little disappointed. “Oh? Have you finally realised what worthless garbage I truly am?” He topped the sentence off with a little laugh, one that he intended to be dark but was just high and giggly.
“No! Not at all! You’re amazing Ko! You’re making me feel so,” Hinata gyrated his hips, moaning out the rest of his sentence, “ so good.”
Never did Komaeda expect that sentence to make him so flustered. He swallowed hard, attempting to regain his self-control so he didn't start fucking him right there on the dancefloor. “W-we should take this elsewhere…”
Hinata’s eyes lit up as if he were a little kid on Christmas. He slid his leg down off the other boy’s waist and let go of his hair before straightening up and tugging his fishnets back up his hips, acting all proper as if he hadn’t been dry-humping somebody moments ago. “Yes. That sounds...great.”
They shared a nod, then Komaeda wrapped his fingers around Hinata’s wrist and began to lead him through the crowd. Hinata could barely contain his excitement, grinning from ear to ear at the thought of spending more time with Komaeda, being touched, touching him. It all felt much too good. It would also be great to relieve the throbbing boner that was chafing against his underwear.
Komaeda pulled them from the dancefloor, more towards the back of the building. Hinata swore he saw a flash of pink hair as they passed the bar, but he concluded that it was probably just the strobe lights. Komaeda pushed open the door to the men’s restroom, and suddenly they were stood in a bright room trying to blink away the burn of the lights. Hinata whined and squeezed his eyes closed.
The taller boy pulled him into the very end stall, clicking the lock shut behind them. “Hinata-kun, c’mon, open your eyes…”
Hinata grumbled, slowly blinking and rubbing at his eyes as they adjusted to the foreign light. Despite still squinting he was able to actually get a good look at Komaeda now. He was paler than expected, and that cotton-candy coloured hair was actually a snow white. His eyes were a soft grey, well, what he could see past those blown pupils. Those thin lips were swollen and red from their passionate makeout. He was just as attractive without those neon lights.
Komaeda stared, shocked by what he was seeing before him. Not because Hinata looked different without the dark lights, or the large red hickey decorating his neck. He threaded his fingers into his own hair, making a wheezy little laughing sound.
He couldn’t believe it, Hinata’s pupils were quivering.
“Hmm? Do you like what you seeeee?” Hinata giggled, clearly appreciating the attention.
“Yes, it’s just, wow...we should do this before you get over your peak huh?”
“Peak?”
“Mhmm,” Komaeda leaned in close to Hinata’s ear, “right now your senses should be at their highest point.”
Ridiculously enough, Hinata’s knees immediately went weak upon hearing that seductive voice again. Komaeda took the opportunity to place his hands on Hinata’s hips and force his back into the wall, the cold tiles burning at his exposed waist.
They kissed again, but this time it was sloppy and desperate. Komaeda’s tongue in Hinata’s mouth, then Hinata’s tongue in Komaeda’s mouth. Drool dribbled down Komaeda’s chin when he lost focus for a moment whilst unbuttoning Hinata’s jeans.
Komaeda brought his hand to Hinata’s front and began to palm him slowly through his boxers. Hinata moaned into the kiss, leaning into Komaeda’s touch until he suddenly changed his mind. He brought his hand to the other boy’s wrist, pulling back.
“Wait wait wait...could you fuck me instead?” He whispered, voice low despite not possessing a hint of hesitation.
Komaeda chuckled. “Here? Seriously.”
Hinata was confused for a moment before he noted the lack of space in the toilet stall. Komaeda shifted slightly, drawing attention to the way his shoes kept sticking to the floor. On the stall door and walls graffiti told tales of unrequited love and scrawled phone numbers. Everything about this was so gross, so filthy, so obscene. But that only seemed to make it all the more appealing.
“Pleeeeease fuck me, Komaeda Nagito.”
Komaeda put up his hands in a defensive pose, desperately trying to keep a grip on things before both of them got too out of hand. “Hooooold on, do you even have a condom?”
“Uuuuuhhh…” Hinata patted his front pockets then his back pockets. Fortunately his wallet was still there, but- Wait, something crinkled in the other pocket.
He pulled out the offending object and held it between two fingers. It was a condom in shiny green packaging. He couldn’t help but giggle, of course Souda had planted it on him earlier. “How lucky.”
Komaeda smirked, almost as if he knew this was going to happen. “Well, since you asked so nicely and even have a condom, I guess I can’t say no can I?”
“Y-you can say no!” Hinata protested.
“I know, I’m just messing with you.” Komaeda winked, plucking the wrapper from Hinata’s hands and shoving in into his front pocket. “I’ve wanted this, wanted you, all night.”
If he wasn’t already feeling impossibly hot, Hinata would have gotten even hotter at those words. The sheer desperation dripping from his voice reminded him of his own poorly neglected erection. Komaeda wiggled his thumbs underneath the waistline of Hinata’s jeans and pulled them down, letting them sit about halfway down his thighs. He then looped his fingers into the elastic of the fishnets, pulling it back a little before letting it snap back against Hinata’s stomach.
Komaeda laughed at the way Hinata yelped. “God I would’ve loved to fuck you in just the stockings. Just look at the way they squeeze into your chubby little thighs! Soo cute, Hinata-kun…”
"You can fuck me in them next time, just pleeeeeeease hurry up!" Hinata whined, puffing his cheeks out to express his frustration.
"Next time? Well, that better be a promise." Komaeda smirked to himself as he pulled down the boy's stockings, leaving his underwear now completely exposed.
Komaeda crouched down to his knees, feeling a little performative with the way Hinata's eyes burned into him. He placed his hands on the boy's hips before bringing his mouth to the wet patch on the front his boxers. Perhaps he should warn Hinata that this was going to feel a lot better than he remembered…or not.
Hinata gasped, his fingers finding their way back into those curly white locks. This seemingly egged Komaeda on and he pressed his whole face against Hinata's crotch, taking in a deep breath.
"You smell really good…"
"Grooooss!! How perverted are you?" Hinata put on a chastising tone, but his intrigued expression was very much betraying him.
"Veeeeerry." Komaeda mumbled against Hinata's clothed cock, sending small vibrations along the skin.
He slid his hands back up, tugging down the waistband of Hinata’s boxers. The exposure of his hot dick against the cold air made a shiver go down his spine. Komaeda just gaped, in complete awe at how hard and wet he already was.
Komaeda stuck out his tongue and licked a long stripe from the base of Hinata’s cock to the trip, drawing out a long and high-pitched moan. Hinata couldn’t believe how fucking good it all felt. Komaedas breath hot on his dick, the texture of every single taste bud stimulating the sensitive skin, the fishnets digging into his thighs and the way Komaeda’s nails gently grazed over his hips. It was too much, especially now that the boy’s lips were teasing at the reddened head and sucking in such a lewd way.
“K-komaeda...I think I’m already going to come…” Hinata huffed, tugging at the hair of the boy below him.
Komaeda took his hands and mouth away. “C’mon Hinata-kun, at least try to keep it together.” He teased, despite wanting nothing more than for Hinata to completely lose his mind.
Hinata whined at the lack of contact, but he seemed to recover slightly as he panted and leaned further back against the wall. “It’s just...it’s really good.”
“It’s supposed to be. Ah, screw it, even I can’t wait. Turn around.” Komaeda murmured away to himself, beginning to undo the clasp of his belt. This action was followed by the undoing of the front of his jeans, then both his jeans and boxers being messily pushed down.
Oh! The carpet does match the drapes!
Unsurprisingly, Komaeda was just as hard as he was. Precome shimmered under the bright lights coating nearly the entire tip of his cock. He reached into his jeans pocket, pulling the condom packet out and tearing it open with ease. Carefully he pulled the object from the wrapper (which was swiftly shoved back into his pocket) and brought it to the head of his dick, pinching the little tip as he rolled the latex down the shaft. It was a translucent green colour…
Hinata didn’t realise he had been gawking until Komaeda let go of the tip and spun his finger in a little circle in the air, reminding him that he was asked to turn around. He nodded quickly and bit his lip, attempting to suppress the child-like excitement bubbling up in his chest as he pressed himself against the cool tiles.
Hinata stepped his lower half back a little from the wall, allowing his back to curve in a way Komaeda couldn't help but adore. To express this newfound adoration, he brought his hand down hard on Hinata's right ass cheek, relishing in both the debauched sound he made and the red handprint marring his skin.
“So meaaaan…” Hinata snivelled, sniffing away fake tears.
Komaeda giggled a little at the comment, tracing his index finger down between Hinata’s cheeks until he settled at his entrance. It was slightly lubed from what he had picked up off the condom, but definitely not well enough to cause Hinata no pain. He could only hope that the boy could handle it.
He pressed the finger in, finding there was little resistance. Somewhat relieved, Komeda added a second, an action that caused the Hinata to squeeze his eyes closed tightly and huff. “That burns…”
Komaeda planted his other hand on the wall and leaned in close to his shoulder, whispering as closely to his ear as he could. “It’s okay, you’re doing great.”
The next noise Hinata made was one of pleasure, likely from hearing Komaeda’s voice again. He took advantage of the opportunity and pushed his fingers deeper, separating them slowly as Hinata made another pained expression.
“You’re such a good boy, just open up for me please.”
Another moan, Komaeda spread his fingers fully, another cry of pain.
“Yes, yes, that’s it Hajime-kun.”
Hinata’s whole body shivered upon hearing his first name. He could see himself getting really addicted to this, but he wasn’t sure if he was referring to the MDMA pumping through his veins or the praise of the boy above him.
Komaeda’s fingers disappeared, leaving him feeling empty but not upset. It was a sign of more to come. Hinata felt his heart begin to race impossibly quick as the head of Komaeda’s cock rubbed up against him.
“T-this is going to hurt.” Komaeda murmured.
“Do it. Break me.”
The little self restraint Komaeda had left snapped immediately upon hearing those words. His hips jerked forward involuntarily, and with some guidance he was already pushing into the other boy much too quickly. Hinata keened, his voice breaking halfway through that loud cry and he was left making a quiet raspy sound.
His whole body was on fire. He could feel Komaeda’s cock throbbing inside him, so desperate to start moving. His heart was pounding in his ears, feeling as though it was matching the muffled 180bpm music blaring beyond the walls. Telling Komaeda to do that was clearly not the best decision he had made this evening...along with pretty much everything else.
“You’re so ridiculously hot Hinata-kun...I...I think I’m losing my mind…” Komaeda wheezed, laughing softly as his breath huffed hot against Hianta’s ear.
Hinata moaned again and rolled his hips back onto Komaeda, he was getting antsy, he needed more. The pain didn’t matter, not compared to the urgent need to be touched and burn off this excess energy. “I stand by what I said, please, don’t hold back. I need more, Nagito.”
That was motivating enough for Komaeda, who moved his hips back before snapping them forwards. It didn’t hurt so much this time, in fact, it was actually starting to feel good. Komaeda nestled his head into the crook oh Hinata’s shoulder, smiling wide as he brushed his lips against his neck.
“You’re really enjoying this, aren’t you?”
Hinata nodded, pressing his lips together tightly as he felt a drop of sweat roll down his forehead.
Komaeda thrust into the boy beneath him roughly, relishing in the whimpering sound he made along with the slap of skin on skin. “Whore.”
Hinata resented the way his dick twitched upon hearing that word. “Wh-whore…?”
“Hm? That’s what you are, aren’t you? You come to a club, you ditch your friends to go do drugs then get fucked by a random stranger. I’d say that’s some pretty whorish behaviour.”
Oh shit, Komaeda wasn’t wrong. He’d completely forgotten about Sou-
Komaeda thrust into him again, stealing the air from Hinata’s lungs. An intense pleasure shocked through his body and he gasped, shuddering with a moan upon the exhale. He swore his vision went black for a moment as all coherent thought was completely wiped from his brain. “H-holy shit…”
“Easy to please, too.” Komaeda grinned and he could hear it.
Komaeda placed a hand on his waist and finally started fucking him with an actual pace, something Hinata didn’t expect himself to be grateful for. He moaned unashamedly, fingers clawing at the tiles frantically for something to ground him; secure him in a hold that wasn’t just Komaeda’s. How did he even have this much control over his actions right now?!
“So pathetic. I bet you never thought things would end up like this, did you?” Komaeda whispered in that irresistible voice of his.
Hinata’s only response was to moan louder.
“Answer the question, Hajime.”
“N-ah! No! I-I di- hah- didn’t!”
A hand slid up his side, tickling the sensitive skin as he brushed over it. It felt as if fireworks burst under every spot Komaeda’s fingers touched, making him tremble all over. It was too much, too much, he’s so so hot. Even the tears on his cheeks weren’t helping at all to alleviate that heat in his face.
“It’s- hah- It’s so cute how worked up you are.” Komaeda’s composure dropped for a moment as he moaned right in Hinata’s ear. If Hinata could have broken right there, he would’ve.
Komaeda noticed the way Hinata’s muscles clenched around him upon hearing him moan. It was amusing and devastating all at once. Even if he tried to pretend it wasn’t, the ecstasy was still making his senses overwhelmingly strong. Instead of continuing to tease the boy, it would be better to let his actions push him over the edge. He quickened the pace of his hips, thrusting rather messily as he stopped suppressing the obscene sounds coming from his mouth.
Hinata’s brain was going haywire, soaking in everything at once to the point of overstimulation. The sensation of the smooth tiles against his hot cheek, the fingers lightly grazing his chest, the sweat dripping down his back, the loud moans of the boy in his ear, the hair tickling at his neck, the physical presence of Komaeda above him, the head of his cock grazing against Hinata’s prostate, the feeling of his balls hitting his taint with every thrust that signified he had taken the entirety of Komaeda’s-
Hinata screamed.
Komaeda wasn’t sure to be flattered or concerned. The other boy convulsed beneath him, making a sound somewhere between a sob and a moan. He was coming already after all that teasing? That's no fair.
Hinata’s knees gave out beneath him, which would have put both of them on the floor had Komaeda not wrapped his arms around the boy’s midsection. They were both wheezing and panting heavily, to the point that Komaeda didn’t even have the breath to tell him to snap out of it. He pressed Hinata harder into the wall to force him to stay up as he kept thrusting.
The boy beneath him near squealed as his overstimulated dick burned against the cold tiles Hinata couldn't tell if he was in pain because everything felt too good, much too good. His body only craved more of that stimulation, more touch more movement more sound. "M-more…"
If Komaeda was capable of coherent thought at this point, he would have definitely stopped to question it. But his thoughts were filled with one thing, Hinata, and how fucking good it felt being inside him. Either Kuzuryuu had supplied him pills cut with viagra, or Hinata was a fucking monster.
Hinata nodded, laughing a little as he looked down and realised he was still just as hard as before. "K-keep going…it hurts."
“Hinata-kun...hah- Hajime. ” Komaeda moaned, bringing both of his hands down to cling to Hinata’s hips and he pounded into him without abandon.
Hinata was completely pressed to the wall now, crying as his face was forced into the tiles. Every time Komaeda pushed back into him his body shuddered as pain and pleasure rippled through. There was no chance to push Komaeda away, he felt so light and weak, muscles completely surrendering as he whimpered against the tiles.
“I love you, I love you so much Hajime-kun!”
“I- hiii- I love you too, aha, Nagito…”
The logical part of his brain knew that that was wrong. How could he love somebody who he just met? But the logical part of his brain couldn't talk, and all he knew was that this kind of intimacy was loving, anybody who would touch Hinata was somebody he loved.
Komaeda giggled, his voice raising into a high pitched whine as he began to chant Hinata’s name. “You’re so good Hajime-kun! Hajime-kun Hajime-kuuuun!!!”
His thrusts became more erratic as he dug his nails into Hinata’s skin. He was so so so close he just needed a little bit more and he could-
“N-nagito!” Hinata wailed. “That hurts!!”
Koameda came with a loud cry, riding out his orgasm with slowed movements. Hinata was bawling now, snivelling and whimpering with small sounds that almost could’ve been Komaeda’s first name. The boy above him burned with shame as he realised he’d just come to Hinata crying his name and he liked it.
He pulled out of Hinata, then yanked up the boy’s underwear and sat him on the toilet seat, waiting for him to ride out the vertigo from his sensory overload. His tears had seemingly weaned off just from being sat down with nothing to touch him. Hinata stared with a blank expression, small sobs occasionally leaving his throat as Komaeda begun to clean himself up.
He pulled off the condom and tied it at the end, dropping it in the box designated for sharp waste, not that it was sharp waste, but rather it was convenient. Komaeda then tucked himself back into his boxers, pulling them and his jeans back up to where they sat on his hips previously before doing up the fly. Hinata made a whiny little noise, suddenly being brought back to earth. Komaeda knelt down in front of the toilet, bringing his hand up to the boy’s cheek. “Hey, are you okay?”
Hinata nodded. For some reason he was expecting the ecstasy to completely wear off once he came, but of course it didn’t. He still felt light and giggly, but even more so now that he was completely exhausted. “H-how can you still be moving…?”
“I’ve done this a few times before.” Komaeda smiled, before realising the implications of his words. “Ah, not having sex in a public bathroom, but MDMA.”
Hinata responded with a sound of acknowledgement.
Komaeda eyed his clothed erection. “I’m surprised you’re still hard after all of that. Would you like me to do something about it?”
Hinata shook his head. It was understandable, his nerves were probably on fire right now.
“Here, stand up so I can clean the cum off your stomach.” Komaeda stood up, extending an arm to the other boy.
He took it graciously, his knees stuttering a little as Komaeda hauled him to his feet. He flushed bright red upon remembering that they had been having very loud very public sex just moments ago. “That was....really good.”
Komaeda nodded, ripping some toilet paper off the roll, before bringing it to Hinata’s exposed belly. It tickled a bit, so he looked away to distract himself, only to stare directly at the white fluid that was dripping down the tiles now. God he was so disgusting.
“Oh, it got on your shirt too. Sorry…” Komaeda murmured, wiping that down as well.
“It’s f-fine, I’ll just wash it before g-giving it back to Souda.” Hinata stuttered out.
Komaeda snorted. “You sure Souda-kun’s gonna want it back?”
“Y-you’re a dick.” Hinata grumbled, punching the other boy’s shoulder lightly.
Komaeda seemed content with his job, kissing a soft reassuring kiss to Hinata’s cheek as he tossed the soiled paper into the toilet. He grabbed another bunch to clean up Hinata’s mess on the wall, which only made the boy feel more embarrassed.
“So what’s your plan now, Hinata-kun?” Komaeda asked the question without even turning to look at him. “Are you going to head back to the dancefloor or are you wiped?”
“I’m fucking wiped. But...I- I really want to keep going!” Hinata sighed, examining the damage to his shirt.
“In what sense?”
“Um, I wanna keep enjoying this...I guess? Going home alone to sleep just sounds like a waste…”
“Oh!” Komaeda spun around to look at Hinata. “I should’ve mentioned it earlier, but you’ll probably have a hard time getting to sleep.”
“Oh, great, that’s exciting!” Despite the remark being obviously sarcastic, the tone of Hinata’s voice didn’t quite express that. “Well, what do you plan to do?”
“Go home alone and try to go to sleep.”
“Oh.”
The silence between them stretched out for way too long, it was even more uncomfortable because Hinata couldn’t stop making these awkward giggly noises. Komaeda finished cleaning up and tossed the other bit of soiled paper into the toilet before flushing it.
Hinata suddenly broke the silence with a question. “Do you wanna come to my place and cuddle?”
Komaeda broke out into a loud cackle, one that made Hinata’s heart ache from the supposed rejection. “Oh Hinata-kun, please don’t toy with my feelings like that! We couldn’t do such a thing after I...defiled you in that way.”
“Huh?! What are you talking about?” Hinata pouted, grabbing his stockings and pulling them up. “C’mon it’s a good idea! Neither of us would have to be alone and we can still enjoy the high!”
Komaeda shook his head. “Why would you want to do something so intimate with somebody like me?”
“Because I like you! Is that not evident by the fact I let you fuck me in the ass?!” Hinata snapped in frustration.
A snort came from one of the other stalls. Hinata bit his tongue and pulled up his jeans, avoiding meeting the other’s gaze. Komaeda also looked incredibly sheepish as he did up his own belt. The two of them waited for whoever was in there to be done, wash their hands and leave before speaking again.
“What’s up with that scar on your abdomen?”
“Oh this?” Komaeda traced his finger over a small line near his navel. “Funny story actually, you remember that guy I mentioned earlier who overdosed?”
“Yeah?”
“I refused to pay his medical bills so he stabbed me!”
Hinata was shocked, but also not surprised as he laughed softly. “That’s terrible Komaeda!”
Komaeda seemed to find it even funnier than he did. “You’re telling me! That was the second time I’ve been stabbed here!”
The pieces clicked together in Hinata’s mind. Of course the guy who got stabbed twice at Hope’s Summit was the one he’d fallen for. It only made some stupid sense. He slapped his palm into his forehead and giggled. “Okay, you’re definitely coming home with me, I need to hear more about this.”
Komaeda sighed in defeat. “I’ll come home with you, sure. But you’re going to regret it.”
“I won’t.” Hinata reached up and ruffled Komaeda’s hair, eliciting a smile from the other boy as he pushed the stall door open.
-
Hinata blinked his bleary eyes open. He was hot, sweaty, and feeling incredibly heavy. A mess of white hair lay upon his chest, drooling onto his left pec. He groaned, slowly reaching over to the highstand on his left to grab his phone without waking the sleeping Komaeda.
Discovery (Rey X Solo!Reader)
Summary: You take the time after the war to bring Rey to Naboo, one of the greenest places in the galaxy. It isn’t hard for you to understand why it was here, of all places, that your grandparents fell in love. The apple apparently doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Requested by Anon: I don’t know much about Star Wars lmao but I think Rey is neat. Can I get a Rey/Reader please? Something fluffy!
Key: (Y/N) - your name Warnings: holy FUCK this is fluffy anon what have you DONE, finnpoe is only background :(, some self deprecation, mentions of character death, unfortunately it follows canon plot but just ignore it and it doesn’t exist, mention of K*lo R*n Word Count: 1,944
Note: u dont know how much strength it took to not put Jar Jar in this fic just because also WOW holy fuck this is so fluffy i think i choked. Oh also please tell me if that idiom in the summary is wrong because growing up bilingual means I Don’t Get Them. anyway sorry i’ve been inactive things have been...wack.
    “I didn’t know there was this much green in the whole galaxy,” she’d said when you met her what felt like forever ago.
    It broke your heart.
    Your father later said that he could see it in your eyes. You’d spent your whole life travelling the galaxy, experiencing its every wonder, and there was Rey, who had never been off Jakku in her entire life.
    You wanted, at that moment, to drag her back into the Millenium Falcon, point at a map, and tell her to pick a place, any place. More than anything, you wanted to show Rey every corner of the universe, every sand-free planet or moon that you could possibly find.
    The pity the woman thought she saw in your eyes was much more than that; it was horror, despair at what she had missed.
    You eventually settled for showing her Takodana and D’Qar, after your father was killed, but it never sat right with you. The more you got to know Rey and the longer the war dragged on, the more you wanted to give her the infinite freedom she so desperately deserved.
    To put it simply, you wanted nothing less than to hand her the galaxy on a silver platter.
    It wasn’t until the war was over that you finally had the opportunity to do so.
    You and Rey were still travelling with Finn, Poe, Chewie, BB-8, and D-0, as you had since the end of the war. With their help, it was easy to surprise her.
    Carefully, you led her down the Falcon’s boarding platform and onto solid ground. Poe had lovingly donated his jacket to be a blindfold, in order to keep Rey completely in the dark. Luckily, the Force wouldn’t tell her where she was-- it didn’t work like that.
    “I’m not great with surprises,” she warned, gripping your arm tightly.
    “You’ll love this one, I promise. Now, take off your shoes.”
    “What?”
    “Just trust me,” you laughed, having already discarded your own.
    You watched with pure childlike glee as her feet met soft grass. She wiggled her toes about in the dirt, a smile coming to her face. Sure, D’Qar had gotten her used to grass rather than sand, but you were almost certain she’d never taken a moment to go barefoot in it.
    “Grass?” She asked hesitantly. “Where are we?”
    “Only the prettiest planet in the galaxy,” you teased, already reaching forward to pull the jacket from her face. “Welcome to Naboo.”
    When the jacket came off, Rey found herself gaping-- as soon as she’d gotten used to the brightness of a sunny day on Naboo. You’d landed in the middle of a great, grassy field near the edge of a cliff. A waterfall tumbled over the edge of that cliff from a stream, a feature that Naboo was well known for. You were pretty sure Rey had never seen one of those-- something you had to correct.
    *“(Y/N)--” she breathed out, gawking. “I don’t-- I don’t know what to say.”
    You laughed a little. “Neither did I, the first time my mom brought me here. I spent days exploring.”
    “It’s so...alive,” she said, reaching down to feel the grass.
    She meant in the Force, though even the least Force-sensitive person could probably see how alive it was. Naboo was an explosion of light and life, even for those not strong in the Living Force, and could be overwhelming for those who were.
    “C’mon,” you called to her with a smile, holding out your hand. “I know the best place to take it all in.”
    Her lips twitched up into a grin, one of the brightest you’d ever seen from her. Her eyes shined as she reached out, taking your hand in hers and squeezing it as she stood back up. With her free hand, Rey tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and opened her mouth to say something-- but a shout from the Falcon interrupted her.
    “Have fun, lovebirds!” Poe called with a devilish smirk, waving the two of you onward.
    You shot the man a rude gesture that made him cackle. Rey turned bright red, an adorable look on her, you thought, as Poe was dragged back into the ship by Finn, who chewed him out the whole way-- fondly, though.
    (Bittersweetness struck you at the memory of your mother laughing her ass off at the fact that both of her children, blood or otherwise, were head over heels for Force-sensitives.)
    Rolling your eyes, you dragged Rey along through the field at a near sprint. Her musical laughter in your ear made you run faster and hold her hand tighter. The breeze swept up both of your robes and hair, completely ruining your venerated Jedi facade that Rey had insisted upon since getting lightsabers, which you both wore on belts, though they swung wildly now. If your father could see you right now, he would be so, so proud. Uncle Luke would probably cry.
    At the very edge of the cliff, by the waterfall, you came to a skidding stop with a bark of laughter.
    “Now, this is gonna sound crazy--”
    Rey scoffed. “You always sound crazy.”
    “Aw, thanks,” you said, heavy with sarcasm before continuing. “Uncle Luke told me stories about Jedi during the war, how they’d jump off cliffs without a second thought. Ben and I spent weeks practising how to cushion our falls, just so we could be like the old Jedi.”
    Her eyes were wide. “You what?”
    “Yep! And now it’s your turn!” you declared.
    “What? (Y/N)--”
    Before she could panic, you grabbed her hand again. “We’ll jump together and I’ll stop the fall. You’ll be completely safe.”
    She bit her lip. “You’re sure about this?”
    “Completely,” you reassured her. “Do you trust me?”
    Despite herself and her growing fear, Rey smiled. “I do.”
    “Great! On three.”
    “One.”
    “Two.”
    “Three!” the two of you shouted together, racing toward the edge of the cliff.
    Rey was immediately screaming, out of terror at first, but as you tucked her against your side, holding her close against the resistance, the shriek turned into an exhilarated one. You let out a joyful whoop as you went down, Rey’s face buried in the crook of your neck, which only elated you further.
    As the ground grew closer, you pulled on the Force and the two of you touched ground gently, as if you’d never fallen at all.
    Rey didn’t pull away, but laughed gleefully. “That--” she gasped, breathless, “--was amazing.”
    “Wasn’t it?” you asked, grinning. Then you pointed at the horizon ahead. “But the view’s even better.”
    She followed your gesture and froze.
    You were standing on another lush, grass-covered cliffside, as the waterfall tumbled onto a layered terrain, almost like massive steps. After another two layers, the falls gathered into a lake that stretched out for miles. Surrounding the lake were other cliffs with their own waterfalls, towering trees, and blankets of flora. And in the sky, the sun was nearing the horizon, painting the world in pinks and purples and oranges.
    “Sweet Force,” she whispered.
    Your gaze shifted to the woman next to you. You wore a smile that would make Chewie gag.
    The light of the sunset fell gently on her features, outlining her face with an ethereal sort of glow. Her eyes reflected the sparkling water and the sun, a window into her soul and the flame of fierce bravery that you knew she always carried in it. Lips slightly parted in awe, Rey looked more beautiful now than you had ever seen her, watching something so simple, so unknown and taking a galaxy’s worth of joy from it.
    You wanted to see that look on her face every day. You wanted to drag her across the galaxy and show her every corner of it, if only to watch her smile the way she was now.
    “It’s beautiful,” she said in quiet awe and respect.
    You exhaled sharply. “Yeah. You are.”
    She didn’t process your words for a long moment, but when she did, her head snapped over to look at you and her eyes went wide. “(Y/N)...”
    “Rey, can I-- can I tell you a story?”
    She frowned, uncertain, but nodded. Before you could speak, she reached out and took your hand once more, sending a wave of warmth up your arm.
    You smiled and took a deep breath. “When my grandmother was young, she was the Queen of Naboo and, after that, its Senator. My grandfather was a Jedi and-- and he was tasked with protecting her, so he brought her home, brought her here. She showed him everything about this planet: the sights, the people. He was already in love with her then, but it was here that, with nothing but them, the Force, and the life around them, that she realised she loved him back. He was a kid from Tatooine who had never seen anything like Naboo before and watching him discover something she loved so dearly, she just...knew.”
    “Sounds familiar,” Rey said with a little laugh, her voice soft.
    You echoed the noise before lifting her hand, bringing it to your lips and kissing her knuckles gently. “I have watched you come from nothing, seen you face down the most terrifying people in the galaxy and hardly blink. You terrify and amaze me, Rey, and I-- I think I’ve been in love with you for much longer than I thought.”
    “Oh, (Y/N),” she breathed out. Turning to face you, she put her free hand on your cheek, caressing it with her thumb. “I’ve never-- well, I’ve never really...had anyone. Your family took me in and that-- that means the galaxy to me, having a family. You are so, so kind and so much more than I ever hoped for. I’m nothing. I don’t have anything, (Y/N), just this lightsaber. I don’t even have a name. How could you possibly love me?”
    Unable to resist, you placed a fond kiss to the inside of her wrist. “Take mine.”
    She blanked. “What?”
    “You are not nothing. You are everything to me,” you told her firmly. “If you want more than that lightsaber, more than this family we have, take my name. It belongs to you...and so do I.”
    Rey opened her mouth and then paused, unable to find words. Instead, she decided on an action.
    She grabbed the collar of your robes and pulled your forward, slanting her mouth against yours. You did not squeak as she would claim later, but you did make a wordless noise. After a moment, you pulled her in close, slipping your arm around her waist.
    For an innocent, young desert scrapper who had supposedly never kissed anyone before, she was damn good at it.
    When you finally pulled away, you couldn’t help resting your forehead against hers.
    (A Keldabe kiss, Aunt Ahsoka and Uncle Rex had called it. It was just as intimate as any regular kiss and meant so much more)
    “Rey Organa-Solo has a ring to it,” you murmured against her lips.
    She laughed, a sweet, song-like thing that melted your heart again. “Is that a proposal?”
    “Definitely,” you said, kissing her again. It was soft, but sank into something deeper, the sort of kiss your father would say he and your mother shared after defying death yet again.
    A fairytale moment in a fairytale place. And, technically speaking, you were royalty.
    “I think,” Rey said when you finally let go again, “that we have a lot more to see.”
    You grinned. “Naboo first, love. But after that, believe me, I’ll show you the galaxy.”
