Nellie was just sitting outside of Salinger’s sipping some tea trying to relax herself, it had been a rough week and she felt like she had been going full speed and hadn’t taken time to herself always fussing over her brother’s recovery and her clients so right now she was sitting and just scrapbooking, trying to distract herself but it truly wasn’t working the way it normally did, so she sent out a text hoping to find some distraction from her running wild thoughts through a friend. She was in the middle of writing down a date when she heard the sound of a chair scraping against the ground, she looked up placing her marker down smiling warmly “You came thank you I felt like I was going crazy being alone I really appreciate you coming to keep me company.”

Normally when Nellie had one of her reoccurring night terrors that resulted in a panic attack, she had Luke to rely on, but Luke was gone for the night and she didn’t want to start becoming a burden to him when he was just getting better, her being fully dependent on him could cause too much stress and she never wanted that. So instead she called the only other person she trusted to help calm her down, sure it was two a.m. and she had be certain they wouldn’t answer her phone call, but they did and all she said was that she needed them and she had already heard them rustling to get dressed, so now she was sitting up in bed and she had tugged on one of their sweatshirts they left over as she waited, her breathing was already calm even if she felt the looming anxiety still. She heard the door opening and the shuffling of someone rushing to get to her and when she looked at them the tears started again and she sniffled up at them as they approached her “i’m sorry I woke you up just for this, I don’t mean to be a bother at this hour I just.... I feel safe with you, I always have and I trust you to see me like this because you never make me feel judged and you always calm me down so easily.”

Nallie's first few days of life were...exciting, to say the least. She's having a baby with the man she had her very first blind date with, and he moved in like two days after they met xD They get on like a house on fire tbh, which is why I let him move in. They're both poly as heck so expect many many more partners for...well, both of them, lol.

Nellie was in the process of doing dishes, when she heard a knock on the door, she froze for a moment her brain trying to figure out if maybe Luke had lost his key she really wouldn’t expect it to be anyone else , she grabbed for a dish rag drying off her hands as she walked over to open the door, the confused look on her face turning even more confused to see the person standing in front of her, she placed her hand on the door frame pressing her lips together  turning into a frown their last encounter not being the best one and she wasn’t even sure why he was here “I thought you made it very clear you weren’t going to have anything to do with me after I choose to be there for Luke when you guys gave up on him.” She still stood in front of the doorframe eyeing him curiously “We’re doing amazing by the way the two of us, even though you haven’t called to ask us since we left, how did you even find us anyways?” ​

Nellie had been cornered in the bathroom by someone, they had what looked like fake blood on their face and she barely got away from the other, they had been taking their vampire act way too far, and she wondered if they were on some kind of drugs or something because they had a crazed look in their eyes when they attempted to grab her, she looked down at her dress sighing when she realized they had gotten blood on the front of her dress and on one of her sleeves. She began to weave her way through the crowd taking in the weird energy of the room not really fully comprehending what was going on, finally, she saw Elsa and she hurried over to her standing in front of her tears filling her eyes now wondering if maybe what had happened in the bathroom was due to the weird energy out here and not someone strung out on drugs. She sniffled just a bit looking at Elsa and it was obvious she was scared "Can we please go on, I just had an awful encounter in the bathroom and I think they genuinely wanted to hurt me, I really feel unsafe please take me home."

Nellie watched Luke pacing their apartment muttering under his breath, he was counting like he normally did when he was too stressed out, she watched him for a moment and walked over to her purse grabbing a bag of rocks she kept there and she sat on the floor reaching out her hand for him “come here Luke sit with me for a moment so I can get you out of that dark place.” She opened the bag taking out the rocks lining them up in a triangle as she waited for him to sit by her “Remember when I was little and I had those awful night terrors and me being so upset would wake you because you could feel it? And you would calm me down by showing me these rocks and telling me that you set them up like this and it would keep me safe?” She looked up at him hoping it would urge him to join her “Let me do for you what you always do for me huh? Let me pull you out of your head, whatever is scaring you let me be there for you, you’ve always got me you don’t have to do it alone.”

Nellie currently had been renting out an office space on the square to try and get her wedding planning business off the ground, sure it wasn’t exactly her dream yet of owning her own place for her business but until then this would have to do. She was in the middle of looking over her planner to see if she had any appointments today when she heard the tinkle of the bell she didn’t look up at first currently writing in a potential clients new name who had called earlier she called out so the customer didn’t think she was avoiding“Just a moment I’ll be right there.” She finished putting her pen down looking up prepared to greet them with a smile but it soon dropped when she noticed who it was. “Oh...Theo.” She cleared her throat standing up to move around her desk standing in front of her still keeping her distance “I well, wasn’t expecting to see you here, you guys all made it kind of clear that since I choose to help Luke again you were cutting off contact, you’ve come a long way to rub it in if that’s still the case.” She couldn’t deny that part of her was glad to see her sister hoping this was an olive branch for them to make amends “Not here to yell at me are you? or call me Naive like Shirley for believing in Luke again are you? I hope you aren’t because I’ve missed you so much.”

This became a common theme at this point, Elsa had started showing up unannounced, and sometimes Nellie wasn't there, and if Luke was there he would let her in but sometimes she would just sit on their front door waiting for Nellie to come home, and Nellie never wanted her to wait if she was seeking comfort from her ever, so she had this made for the other in hopes that if she ever wanted to come over she always had access. Currently, they were laying in bed just holding each other, Elsa resting against Nellie's chest, which was nice the other having an aversion to touch but she never pulled away from Nellie, wanting to keep her as close as possible, it meant a lot to her because she knew this meant she fully trusted her to let her in. Nellie pressed a sweet kiss to her head "I have something for you." She wiggled out of her arms to reach into her nightstand grabbing a small blue box before scooting back over laying on her side so she could look into her eyes "I know this is a big step, and I should have maybe discussed it with you first, but just because I'm giving you this doesn't mean you have to use it if it makes you uncomfortable." She opened it to show her a key she had made for her and luke's place and held it for her to see. "Maybe don't look at the key as it is in it's the literal sense, because it's true it's just a key, but look at it as a promise." Nellie was always a rambler and always over-explained herself sometimes but this was a big moment and she didn't want to scare her away "Take this key as a symbol, a promise that if you need you'll have acceptance here with me, that I will never make you feel small and that I'll always be here for you no matter what, for the good and the bad I'll always be right by your side." She took the key out of the box and placed it gently in her hand before closing it in her hand pressing the softest kisses to each knuckle. When she finished she moved her hands to cup her face moving in whispering just loud enough for her to hear "You mean the world to me Elsie, more than I ever can put to words, and I want so badly to offer you a safe place when your thoughts gets so loud that you want want to scream, this is me extending to you a safe place with me always." she looked in her eyes and leaned in to close the distance to give her a sweet and gentle kiss, staying close as she closed her eyes voice still barely above a whisper "I really hope this gesture doesn't spook you because I so desperately just want to be there for you and I never want to scare you, I just want to keep you close to me and safe, because you happy makes me so happy and I want so badly to give you a happy and safe place with me, please say something before I start crying and think I went overboard, just tell me it's okay that this isn't too much."
