"Ahhh..." Leila was sure that she looked like a deer in headlights. Her knowledge of flowers was essentially non-existent. "Honestly, I think you can just say that on a card. Maybe looking for flowers that say all that is a bit too much," she suggested with a shrug. "Not that I know. All I know is that they're pretty." She selected a bouquet, the colors of which had caught her eye, and showed them to Chance. "I don't know anything about these. Not even what they're called. You can imagine what choosing flowers for my bridal bouquet was like," she continued with a laugh. "So, maybe just choose ones you think the recipient will like and go from there."

There's a lump in his throat and it won't go away, and the hand holding his phone - he's not sure if he's going to drop his phone any second, or break it from holding it so tight.

"Sweetheart? Are you still there? I thought it be best that you heard it from me, rather than through the grapevine."

"I- uhm. Yeah, Mom. I'm still here." She sounds sympathetic and it makes him feel sick.

"I mean, it shouldn't matter, should it? You have a girlfriend now, someone else that you love."

"Yeah, of course. I love Katie." He'd said those exact words three seconds ago. Why did it feel so much more real then than it does now?

"Are you going to congratulate her?"

"Congratulations." Congratulations on finding someone that was better than him. Congratulations on finding someone that could keep her happy. Congratulations of having all of her dreams come true. Congratu-fucking-lations.

"To her, sweetie, not me."

"Whatever, Mom. I gotta go. Dinner date plans."

WIDE AWAKE - Chance/Addison

This is the first time they don't have that awkward wall of pillows between them, the first time they are touching, skin to skin. Her hair is in his face and it tickles his nose whenever he breaths and her face feels super warm against his arm and he can't actually spoon her completely because- you know... But he has never felt more comfortably uncomfortable in all his life. 

I hope we wake up really late tomorrow...

I don't know what meme this is for but I want answers for Addison & Chance.

Who’s more dominant: knowing chance and like considering what we've seen so far with them in terms of para, not to mention that Addison is older, I think Addison would be the more dominant one until Chance really finds his ground so like maybe a month into the road trip it'll even out more? But definitely Addi for awhile.

Who’s the cuddler: Chance is totally a cuddler lol i mean he's never had an actual body to cuddle before but he has a pillow dedicated to cuddling on his bed xD So if addi's a big cuddler that will be good hehe

Who’s the big spoon/little spoon: Chance is the big spoon. He'll just have to get used to having hair in his face lol

What’s their favorite non-sexual activity: Traveling, for the first half of the plot lol OH THE SWINGS! but also very importantly video games :DDD

Who uses all the hot water: Chance doesn't like long showers so it will probably be Addi, although since they're staying at motels it's very hard to tell... They just might never have hot water.

Most trivial thing they fight over: Who said what, I would think, like if they got lost on the road. Or who ate the last jelly donut. 

Who does most of the cleaning: Chance is generally messy. I don't think Addi would be too much better? :x But considering that it's Addi's car, I think Chance would be very self-conscious about leaving messes, especially in the beginning. But they probably take special stops to clean out the car so that they don't drive around in filth.

What has a season pass on their dvr/Who controls the netflix queue: Well since they're living in a car I would say neither. Not to mention they don't live in the same state (cries) so they each have their own, plus Chance isn't a huge tv or movie guy so...

Who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working: Nobody, their parents probably do it for them... In a future au where they're living together, I think Chance would, provided that he as grown into his awkwardness and is no longer so shy about talking to people.

Who leaves their stuff around: Chance definitely does. Addi maybe too? But yeah Chance is messy :x

Who remembers to buy the milk: Whoever is in charge of groceries? (in the same future au where they live together lol) I feel like they're the type of couple to go grocery shopping together tbh

Who remembers anniversaries: Maybe Addi? I think Chance remembers them half the time, he doesn't mark it in his calendar or anything but might realize it later on like, oh yeah, today's our 5 months isn't it

Who cooks normally: Chance can make mac and cheese and sandwiches but that's about it. I think this is on Addi's shoulders loll can she cook?

How often do they fight: The closer it gets to the end of their trip the more they will fight, because in the beginning they were trying to be more polite to each other since they don't know each other that well, but now that the end is near and they really like each other they don't wanna leave each other, they might pick dumb fights with one another like people often do lol

What do they do when they’re away from each other: Chance plays games. Addi might too, or spend the time winning money playing pool. Of course, they have to go on with their regular lives too, since most of the time they won't be together once school starts again.

Nicknames for each other: You can't get much shorter than Chance, and I don't see her being much of a "sweetie" or "babe" caller. Same with Chance. But he might call her Ad or Ads :P

Who is more likely to pay for dinner: During the trip, I feel like they would have a mutual fund for gas and food? so they would use that. Otherwise, Chance would want to pay for dinner, like his father taught him to haha.

Who steals the covers at night: Oh god, if they have to share a bed (god forbid) the first month or so when they're glorified strangers, Chance would probably forgo sleeping with a blanket rather than share with her (WHAT IF THEIR BODIES OR ARMS OR SOMETHING TOUCH ACCIDENTALLY GOD). In the future though, would Addi steal the covers? :P

What would they get each other for gifts: Addi would get Chance video game related things, or fish related things. Chance would get Addi jelly donuts, if it's like a small gift, or freak out about it a lot before getting her like a dumb cliched jewelry gift. Then feel bad about it lol

Who kissed who first: CAN ADDI KISS HIM FIRST I THINK THAT'S CUTE

Who made the first move: omfg Chance accidentally cause he thought she was sleeping, as per that meme thing if that's canon and i want it to be xD

Who remembers things: I feel like they can both be a little scatter brained sometimes, but they probably mostly equally remember the important things (also who said what things lol also that's a lot of adverbs oops)

Who started the relationship: If Addi waited around for Chance to gather up some balls to ask her out, then Chance did. Otherwise I wouldn't be surprised if Addi did.

Who cusses more: Chance's mouth only really gets dirty when he's playing video games, so in general I would say Addi...??

What would they do if the other one was hurt: Freak out, call either of the parents for advice, if this is on the road. If this is during their long distance relationship, depending on how badly the other was hurt would call for an impromptu visit to make sure the other was alright.

Who is the dirty talker: I can't imagine either of them talking dirty???? But then again I don't know we haven't talked much about their sexual preferences xDDDD

A head canon: Chance for the first week woke up half an hour earlier than "wake up time" because he was really nervous and scared about her seeing his morning wood if she woke up before him. He (unwittingly) got over it though once his body was like "Nope. I'm taking this extra half hour to sleep."

He’d been browsing the 5 channels of the tiny tv in the motel room waiting for his turn in the shower, but those five words had his heart in his throat in a second. He turned to look at her, peeking out of the bathroom door with that look on her face, and he couldn’t help but smile. 

"Yeah." He stood up and walked towards her, his eyes never leaving her face. "Okay."

"No! No fucking way!" Chance clambered up from the ground, wincing as the pain of the bee sting throbbed at the inside of his thigh.
