I work at a bar in Allentown, so while you are open, I am also working.
Just because you're working doesn't mean you can't carve out a little bit of time for some fun. We'll be open at the bar pretty late too, so if you change your mind and wanna come check out the new menu after your shift we got you.

well, I just got polls and thought I would experiment with what that's like and now I regret my choices because now I actually want to know the real answers
(also I would personally choose Patricia C. Wrede as a gateway despite having been read Lewis and Tolkien before I turned seven on the grounds that Wrede was what made me want to read more of my own accord)
#polls!#fantasy#science fiction#tolkien#lewis#tamora pierce#dianna wynne jones#patricia C wrede#terry pratchett#mercedes lackey#anne mccaffrey#ursula k leg#also also I have left the transphobe off this list on purpose#but it bears thinking about that mercedes lackey has also espoused some fairly shitty views within and without her books

The last small town event I went to, I was... probably twelve? And small town Texas does events different, usually out in a field or two, depending on the event. Lot more room to move, and hide.
I doubt it, but we'll see. As for why... I don't know. My nan passed and I hit the road, didn't look back, didn't slow down. Had my truck not broken down back in April, I'd still be out on the road, without a doubt.
Oh, yeah, if you've never been to one it can definitely be a lot. It's like the whole town shoves themselves on the same little strip of street all at once, but I promise it's not always like that. Most days it's actually pretty chill around here.
Well hey, maybe being grounded in one place for a while will give you a chance to find new inspiration and a reason to dive back into social media. Can I ask why you traveled so much before? Was it because of the poetry or just haven't quite found a place to call home yet?

Those in italics have five or more pieces of usable visual, written, or audio propaganda already. If you have any visuals like photos or videos, or if you have something to say in words, submit it to this blog before round one begins on June 25th!
If you don't see a name you submitted here, it's because most or all of their career was as a child/they were too young for the cutoff, their career was almost entirely after 1979, or music was something they only dabbled in and are hardly known for. There are quite a few ladies on the list whose primary career wasn't "recording artist" or "live musician," but released several albums or were in musical theater, so they've been accepted.
#long post#miss billboard tourney#i wasn't originally going to list them all but i decided to do so because there are so many without propaganda

Walkerverse Character Tier List
Hello Walker Family! I'm here announcing the beginning of the Walkerverse Character Tier List series!
I've created a list of characters from Walker and Walker: Independence to put in a tier list ranking. I will be releasing a series of polls with all these characters (including pictures and brief reminders of their roles) to determine which Tier List ranking they get. Whichever option from S to F gets the most votes will become the official ranking of that character.
Here is the criteria I used to select the characters I'm putting in the poll series:
They must have a name on the imdb page
They must have a minimum of two appearances
I have to remember them, regardless of their appearance count
Single appearances that were special/memorable will also be included (ex: Uncle Willy, Minnie Jayne)
The rankings will be as follows:
S tier: Best character in the show, love them with all my heart, they can do literally nothing wrong
A tier: Beloved blorbo, one of my favorites, I'd want to be friends with them if they were real
B tier: I like them, but I have my critiques. A good character that I mostly enjoy
C tier: Mid character, not the biggest fan of them but I won't complain when they show up
D tier: I don't like them. I have many criticisms of their actions and personality. I may even dislike whole episodes because of them
F tier: Literally the worst character in the entire show. Hate them. Much dislike. I fastforward over them on rewatches.
I currently have pictures (for the poll and the complete tierlist that I will link when it is public) for 39 of the 120+ characters I put on the list, so that's where I will be starting. I will include the full list of all the characters from both shows below the cut along with the taglist.
The first poll will go up on Monday, September 23rd! Can't wait to see what you guys think!

Well, outside of the fact I actually got to see you perform when I recently went to visit my sister, I can't say I've had anything of interest going on.
Guess who's taking over New York! Again! I know, I know, being in London for the last 9 months has left me out of touch, and I am so sorry, I didn't expect to be that busy, but playing Effie on the West End was a dream come true. That being said, I am glad to be back! I have truly missed you all. So Tell me, what's new, what has been going on, and how you all are?

So, the @gleeful-paintbox-project prompt got me inspired to write a little ficlet, which got me inspired to leave this open-ended so I can fill other prompts in a similar style. So, here we are with Glee According to Kurt Hummel.
The first ficlet in this...series?...is called Mr. Cellophane, in which Kurt is standing backstage, waiting to audition for the New Directions.
Ficlet below the cut. Or you can read it on AO3 or FF.net.
Kurt Hummel stood backstage behind the curtain, taking deep breaths and trying to calm the butterflies currently stirring up a tornado in his stomach. He thought he was going to be sick.
He could hear the clear, strong voice of Mercedes Jones demanding R-E-S-P-E-C-T, and it added more fear to the lump in his throat. He began to second-guess himself. Am I actually going to do this?
A beat went by, a beat of indecision. I shouldn't do this. It was a silly idea. I thought I could fit in somewhere, but I don't know how important that really is. I'm okay on my own. Right. Right? Am I? He immediately remembered some of the thoughts he had earlier in the hallway outside the counselor's office and shuddered. Maybe I'm not. Am I really going to do this?
He reminded himself that he had to. He could hear his dad's voice in his head, telling him that he wanted him to join a club. The request had come out as a do-this-or-else command, but Kurt had grown to know his father well enough since his mother's death to understand that his dad was looking out for him as best he could. He loved him, no matter how gruff he sounded or misunderstood Kurt felt at times. Kurt loved his dad, too, and appreciated his concern.
It did little to help the butterflies, though. Am I ready for this? I've never sung in front of other people before. What if they make fun of me? What if I sound bad? What if I can't hit that high note? Why didn't I pick a different song? Should I go a little more Top 40?
Then his thoughts shifted gears, moving to the future. He loved watching reality TV, and he had been on a kick recently, watching cast reunions and interviews. Will I make friends like that? he wondered. Will there be people I remember fondly, want to see at class reunions? Will I find someone who actually wants to be friends, who sees me for who I am? The thought Who knows I'm gay? flashed through his head, too, but he shoved that backward. Better to not be too hopeful, he told himself.
Just then, he heard Mercedes sing her final note. Then, there was the sound of Mr. Schuster's voice, saying something to her.
He took another deep breath in through his mouth and closed his eyes, letting it out ever so slowly through his nose. Center yourself. Focus. You can do this. Maybe it will even be fun.
He opened his eyes just as Mercedes walked by him, and he made himself give her a smile, however unconvincing. Then, he heard Mr. Schuster call out for the next person, and he took one last deep breath before he squared his shoulders and headed out on the stage. I just have to try. If I don't like it, I don't have to join. This doesn't have to define my high school career.
The next thing he knew, he was standing on the "X" in the middle of the stage. His voice came out stronger than he expected when he said, "Hello. I'm Kurt Hummel, and I'll be singing Mr. Cellophane."

Summary: Blaine Anderson, the new band and choir director for McKinley High School, immediately feels a connection to Kurt Hummel, the English teacher, during their initial teacher inservice days. Spurred on by his feelings, Blaine decides to do something brash: give himself five days to win Kurt Hummel. After he learns more about what secret Kurt's been hiding, however, that might prove to be a taller order than he'd originally thought.

i tried to go through the tags#someone please tell me what books these people are from#i want to read them!#they sound very interesting!#i was a magic treehouse kid#for so long
I can only do some, but Meg Murray is from A Wrinkle In Time and sequels (I'm not aware of a name for the series), by Madeline L'Engle
Menolly is from the Dragonriders of Pern series, and specifically from the Harper Hall Trilogy, by Anne McCaffrey
Cimorene is from The Enchanted Forest Chronicles series, by Patricia C. Wrede
Matilda Wormwood is from Matilda by Roald Dahl
Sophie Hatter is from Howl's Moving Castle, by Diana Wynne Jones
Sara Crewe is from A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett
Not on the poll, but I also wanted to be a Herald in Valdemar (Mercedes Lackey), and although tbh I never really wanted to live in Xanth (Piers Anthony), I did want to have a randomly-assigned magical talent that I had to try to make use of in some clever protaganist-y way.
Also a heads-up for any young-uns (a term which here means "too young to have been obsessed with these books in middle school") -- society has improved (a lot!) since most of these were written. I am delighted that y'all have grown up in a world that takes the existence of gay and trans people for granted, but literally the Valdemar series is the only gay rep I ever saw until, like, most of the way through college. Likewise, some of them were written in a time when "men and women are clearly-defined categories with no overlap or ambiguity, and men and women quite simply have different capabilities and nothing can change that" was a statement so obviously true that no one would ever have bothered to say it.
I love these books and I think they have a lot of beauty and value, but just be aware, going in, that they are going to be cisheteronormative and have some Very Weird Ideas on the inevitability of patriarchal gender roles. (On the plus side, that can be very useful for figuring out what the hell grown-ups are talking about, sometimes).
Now someone return the favor for the 00s version [x] 😃
#Sabriel I believe is from Sabriel but I'm not 100% sure so I'm gonna let others more informed provide definitive information#friends please do fill in the rest as apparently I missed half the books I should have been fantasizing about in high school#tumblr polls#intergenerational interaction#reblog#books

For the fantasy books: The Graceling series by Kristin Cashore, The Belgariad/Mallorean series by David Eddings, The Keys to the Kingdom series by Garth Nix, The Iron Butterfly Series by Chanda Hahn, The Goose Girl series by Shannon Cole, Joust series by Mercedes Lackey, Rangers Apprentice series by John Flanagan, Eragon series by Christopher Paolini, Hexwood by Diana Wynne Jones, Thirteenth Child series by Patricia C Wrede, Uglies series by Scott Westerfield, The Traveller's Gate series by Will Wight
I have a lot haha!
I added what wasn't already there except for Uglies. Uglies is technically a sci-fi, dystopian series, not fantasy, so it's ineligible for this competition. However, if we ever end up expanding into new genres again, hold onto it for that!
