the thing is with apollo is that it makes sense he never touches on his grief in depth or more than he has to. because if you noticed, apollo narrates in a way that actively tries to get the reader to dislike or be annoyed with him via setting himself up with over-the-top dramatics or somehow getting them to pin blame onto him. his actual pain and suffering are often put aside to push his “anti-apollo” agenda, and apollo often is nuanced in a way where his flaws are completely exposed. touching upon his children’s death puts apollo in a sympathetic light (because he literally lost his kids in a situation completely out of his hand, no amount of reaching will actually make him be the bad guy) and exposes too much of who he really is, and therefore does not work for apollo’s purpose of antagonizing himself. (plus other reasons i don’t readily prepared)
Fair enough. Still feels wierd that he doesn't even casually think of them in some way. Or that we don't even get vague hints of their previous existence at camp. Especially in the cabin. Even if we didn't get Apollo fully grieving them, seeing evidence of the other three having grieved would been interesting. Or just vague hints of it.
I do kinda like hc of when children of Apollo grieve hard enough Hythcinths or some other plant related to Apollo's own grief grew around them. Would've been cool if the Hythcinths they had in the windowsill were ones that grew around the cabin after BoM. Something like that.
Idk. Feels wierd that we didn't even get hardly anything about any other children of Apollo in Toa. Even if small.
Like-fun fact- Chiron raised Asclepious! Would been sweet if they had small lighthearted chat about Asclepious as a Lil kid. Especially when later on they mention the story of his mother. Just small things like that :3

there's a quick secondhand account from part 2 of david tennant filmography video essay from OP's boyfriend saying david's performance as macbeth blows his hamlet out of the water and i don't know what kind of drugs his macbeth is on for that to even be possible because how is that possible. How . oh my god?
#chomping on my computer keyboard as we speak can you all release a recording of this thing PLEASE#how the hell does that even happen#if it's not obvious from the way i talk about anything i think his performance as hamlet is a) my favorite of his entire filmography#b) my singular favorite performance of a shakespeare role. and c) in my top 3 performances in a movie/tv show ever#and no i am not exaggerating my brain was specifically structured to be insane in one particular way abt hamlet#and his take on the character pushes all the buttons in that every time i watch another hamlet i have to tell myself not to compare#i have to kill the part of my brain that says 'oh but i liked david's line delivery of this better' SHUT UP OMG YOURE OBSESSED I GET IT#YOUVE WATCHED THIS MOVIE OVER FIVE TIMES AND HAVE MADE IT YOUR PERSONALITY. GET A JOB#anyway OP's boyfriend likely has different taste than me but What did he put into his macbeth for that take to be made in the first place#david tennant

C&P and Macbeth pretty much have the same plot
#overthinker decides to kill someone and feels bad and proceeds to hallucinate about it for the rest of the book#and feels better when they get punished despite spending the wholebook trying to hide their crime#the only differences are the locations and social status#i won't be surprised if raskolnikov is revealed to be macbeth reincarnated#first ivan k and now macbeth. i love how i've found two characters from completely different books for raskolnikov to interact with#rodion romanovich raskolnikov#rodya raskolnikov#macbeth#crime and punishment#Преступление и наказание#c&p#william shakespeare#fyodor dostoevsky#fyodor dostoyevsky#indu reads dostoyevsky

I thought the tolerate it blocking was familiar! Act 3, scene 4 in Macbeth is often staged almost exactly like this, with Banquo up on the table haunting Macbeth during the dinner party. Sometimes it’s Macbeth on the table with Banquo sitting motionless in his seat, sometimes they’re both up there. It’s like she’s haunting her killer, and he’s haunting her too.

I wish I could split some plays in two, because I love parts of them and dislike others, but here we go...
If you want to do your own ranking:
https://tiermaker.com/categories/books/39-shakespeare-plays-16070420
#shakespeare#hamlet is no 1 of course#with hamlet macbeth and dream in first second and third place im such a basic bitch#i can't help but love them 🤷#i also love t&c richard ii or the merry wives#they are just not as good and well-written as the other three#they are most famous for a reason#hamlet#macbeth#a midsummer night's dream

okay i'm curious because i have an opinion on this but i feel like it's controversial. do you read this line:
as "laugh to scorn the power of man (gender), for none (no man) of woman born shall harm macbeth" OR "laugh to scorn the power of man (humanity), for none (no person) of woman born shall harm macbeth"
#i favour the second one personally#because the language is kind of ambiguous and macbeth himself is the only one who says 'no man that's born of woman'#and i think it's interesting if he's the one who inserts the gender into the equation#PLUS i think it vibes harder with the whole thing about how c-sections were essentially always fatal in this period#you can't just be not a man you have to be born from death#and that slaps#macbeth#shakespeare#mine

You've seen our heroes, now it is time for the villains of this show.
(from left to right)
O' Macbeth, brute to Count Reg's army with the strength to boot.
Macbeth was once a proud General of an army long ago, before he was betrayed and his troops game overed. He wandered around from world to world, fighting anyone who would face him before eventually running into Count Reg one day, who easily beat him in battle. But Count Reg saw the look in Macbeth's eyes, that of past betrayal and failure, and offered him a place in his army, with Macbeth accepting and not wanting to let the Count down.
Earrings, the tiny fashionista who relies on tricks and her fancy transforming earrings to win.
Earrings is a mysterious shapeshifter who finds her way into Count Reg's army after he ran to the young lady in one of his many attempts to find his dear Righti. She enjoys being in Count Reg's army and sees it like a family, though she would never tell anyone that.
Dr Natasha V, the doctor with the hidden magical eyes.
Dr V joined Count Reg's army after he found and saved her life, the doctor wanting to pay back that debt and more importantly, see the Count truly happy one day, even if she isn't the one to bring that joy.
Mr C, the green lightning and newest recruit.
The newest recruit to Count Reg's army, Mr C wants to help bring the Count's goal to life, slowly warming up to most of the Count's army and even creating his BroCopter to help deal with any foes that stand in the Count's way, including that familiar guy in blue that he calls "Mr Creates Alot".
Randy Radmentio, the jester with a mysterious past and a more mysterious motive.
The jester inserted himself into Count Reg's army despite Reg's protest, wanting to see the Dark Prognosticus' prophecy come true for his own gains, and his own guilt for an event long ago.
Count Reg, the sorrowful catalyst for the Dark Prognosticus' bidding.
He was once known as Reginald Copperbottom, a member of the Government of Darkness that once guarded the Dark Prognosticus from being used to bring about evil, before his father stole the life of his dear Righti, causing him to initially find the book to try to burn it, but the book fed on Reginald's grief, corrupting him to bring about it's prophecy and destroying the castle and every Government of Darkness member inside.
He now goes by Count Reg, shedding his old life to bring about destruction of all worlds, with a small part of him just hoping that Righti might still be out there.
