4. Do you outline before you start writing? If so, how far do you stray from that outline? I’m going to say yes and no. Lol! I plot before I write, and what I mean by that is that I lay out a very basic plot of what I want to happen in each chapter. It’s usually just a few sentences like: “Kurt stares at Blaine while he sings. They make out in the hallway afterward. Then, they leave for the mall.” I like to give myself direction, but not too much direction. Even that, though, I stray from quite a bit. For instance, in When Worlds Collide, I had no idea that I’d be writing the ending it turns out I’m writing. I knew that that story would be fairly well twisted up with the other fics that we’ve written for In Every Lifetime, but I had no idea how much!

7. Which part of writing do you struggle with most? Honestly, I’m not sure if there’s a part of writing I haven’t struggled with from time to time. I think the most common issue is inspiration. I’m pretty much always in a writing mood, but not necessarily the mood to write what I should be writing. That’s why I have a lot of WIPs at once because I have to skip around a lot. And, that gets me into a lot of trouble sometimes.

8. Do you listen to music while you write? If so, share a song that’s been inspiring you lately. I do listen to music while I write! I’ll listen to pretty much anything and everything. I’ll put on a playlist on Pandora, Spotify, or YouTube and just go to town. I listen to a lot of Broadway when I write, and I’ve recently been listening to a lot of Dear Evan Hansen as well as Ben Platt’s original stuff. The Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack has inspired a few different story plots. Also, the song Waiting on June by Holly Williams has inspired a fic that is currently brewing in the back of my mind.

9. Do you prefer to write AUs, canon divergence, or canon-compliant fic? Can I cheat and say all of it? Lol. I get the most inspiration to write AUs, I’d say, but I love sneaking pieces of canon into everything I write, and I’m planning a huge Glee Rewrite that’s going to deal with a lot of canon while also adding in some non-canon elements. Does any of that make sense? Lol!

16. What is your most underrated fic? Honestly, probably A Family For Christmas that I wrote for 2018 Klaine Advent. I really love that fic because it was the first time I’d written more than about 10k, and I created a little family for the boys that I really love. I (of course) started a series for them. The fic was based on the movie Instant Family

30. Tell us an idea for a longfic you want to write in the future. This is a dangerous and VERY slippery slope because I constantly come up with new ideas. And by constantly, I do mean constantly. At least once a week. I have so, so many ideas for long fics, so I’ll highlight a few of my favorite ideas. As I mentioned up above, I want to rewrite the entire Glee series, episode by episode, and make it the Klaine story, fixing a lot of the things that I think the original writers really messed up. I’ll be tackling this absolutely monstrous project with @jayhawk-writes. I have a series that I want to write (again with @jayhawk-writes) using D/arren’s two albums and the C/omputer G/ames album. I have a D/s fic that will be my next contribution to the In Every Lifetime series following the badboy fic I’m currently working on for the Glee Potluck Big Bang challenge. I could go on, but those are the ones I can think of right off the top of my head.

I read a fic where Blaine had some kind of list how to be popular and dating a cheerio was one of them, cherrio!Kurt find out about this list and was thinking Blaine dates him to be popular. Any more stories with a plot where one of them thinks the other one is not really in love? I read stories about dating as a bet before, but now I'm thinking about fanfics where there is really love.

There’s also a heavy dose of cheesy Hallmark Christmas Movie writing in both the script and commercials. In true AU form, canon characters abound in various non-canon roles.

Originally this was my Klaine Advent 2018 fic that I brain froze on and knew was confusing because the first 2 chapters were stand-alone, random one shots before I got the idea in chapter 3 for a whole verse. So this is that Hallmark story verse only reworked to make it better and stand on its own. All of the Advent words are included in this fic.

It was difficult to argue when everything had been planned, and by the time he was on his way, the fact that his boss had booked a stay at a retreat didn't seem like any kind of overstepping, but more like a relief. A week away from the city, lost in the quiet – no, the silence – with nothing to do but relax, breathe, meditate, maybe partake in the yoga sessions he'd seen in the brochures provided to him, it was all so foreign compared to the fast paced busyness Kurt was used to dealing with. He had no expectations for the week other than maybe gaining some sense of zen – but by the time he left to head back to the city, he’d gotten much, much more than that.

There are badboy!Blaine fics where he is abused by his family, and moves in with the Hudmels. I’m not sure if he also gets beaten by homophobic neighbors. Another old fandom favourite finally finished - hooray! Although the title may be a bit cliché, the story itself is great (and admittedly yes, it is a bit of a cliché too, but this fandom do love it’s tropes and the badboy/nerd trope is one of my favourites).

Anyway, I love the way this story presents Kurt as this angry, insecure boy, scared to death by the thought of letting anyone close to him, close enough to be able to hurt him again. Skank!Kurt really is one of my favourite Kurts. The way he is furious about him being a virgin and Blaine not is hilarious, and it reminds me of that Klaine AU gifset that went around a while ago, but I couldn’t find it again (please link it below if you find it, pretty please?)

Bonus for the way Quinn and Kurt’s friendship is written - I love them together and I am so amused by the way Quinn deals with his bullshit. *yes, sure you’re not in love with Blaine*
