The cover story of this issue involved a largely manual method of turning outlines into "PETSCII" graphics. All of the examples provided were from Star Wars; befitting the characters on the cover, there were several articles on artificial intelligence inside, one (reprinted) by Isaac Asimov. Nostalgia for the old days of computing was already in effect through a reprinted article explaining how Bob Albrecht had begun teaching FORTRAN to high school students in 1962.
