Well … we finally got to 5 November. Of course, you know the story. Once upon a time, there was a bad guy who wanted to set fire to a country’s political system. Metaphorically, but also literally. I mean, he wasn’t subtle, this guy. This Guy, I should say, because his name was Guy Fawkes. Why – who did you think I was talking about?
Because time’s a great healer, Britons now celebrate the thwarting of this truly awful Guy’s insurrection with fireworks, fires and organised effigy-burning. But the good version of those things – not the kind we do when we go out of a football tournament in the later stages. We’re still working on teasing out the family fun in those particular moments.
Incidentally, before I proceed further, a word about the timing of this column, which I am writing on Tuesday morning but which will appear in the Wednesday print edition of this newspaper. That is My Struggle, assuming there isn’t a monopoly on that working title in the current news cycle. And even without those challenges of the calendar, it is impossible to know how many people out there are catching up with the Gunpowder Plot on a time lag. Furthermore, there will be long-view historians who will argue that we still don’t actually really know the ultimate knock-on results and/or fallout of it all. So if you are catching up with the whole story on tape delay, beware of spoilers that will follow. Please look away now if you want to experience the magic/horror [delete as applicable] as if in real time.
So anyway, our Guy. Not only was he a very bad hat, but he wore a very bad hat – a signature piece of headgear that simply screamed MAKE ENGLAND PAPIST AGAIN. And this Guy swore he’d overthrow the political leadership of the country by any means necessary. Blow it all up, burn it all down – this was his plot. He could really drone on about it for hours to like-minded people. Other details? He sometimes went by Guido, because nobody – NOBODY – loved Hispanics more than him, or had done more for Hispanics than him.
Anyway, the fateful day approached. Despite the highest possible stakes, some of his henchteam couldn’t quite keep their mouths shut about it all. One of them actually wrote down a semi-cryptic warning about what was coming, and sent it to a lawmaker called Lord Monteagle. I think it was done on parchment, but it could have also been a social media post on X (which back in the 17th century was known as Twitter).
Even though people will say any old thing on parchment, something about the message properly unsettled Lord Monteagle, who shared the post with King James I. As for the precise mechanics of that share, let’s assume Monteagle quote-posted it, adding a topper along the lines of: “They hath said the quiet part out loud.” Or maybe “out Loude”. My understanding is that spelling was a bit of a free-for-all at the time, and there was a lot of unnecessary capitalisation in some people’s posts.
At this point, the king had a number of options. He could have regarded engaging with the incendiary language about incendiary devices as beneath his dignity, and not at all befitting the civility politics of which he regarded himself as the perfect embodiment. He could have got a period celebrity to come out in his favour and denounce it. Which one? I don’t think James would have nailed down the composer William Byrd (he’d gone Catholic in the 1570s and might have endorsed Fawkes) – but William Shakespeare was coming off a huge box-office hit with Othello and was in development with King Lear. He’d have been ideal; people always do what playwrights say.
But in the event, the king basically responded by going: “OMG Monteagle – if someone tells you who they are, BELIEVE THEM THE FIRST TIME.” Two of his team officials were immediately dispatched to parliament.
By this stage, the Guy was in situ and well on his way to realising his plan. He was found by law enforcement down in the palace of Westminster’s cellars, with a slow match and a watch – presumably one from the Fawkes Signature Collection (advertising slogan: “Time is money so you wear a watch that matters”. There was also a pail of Diet Coke to sustain him through the night, some touchwood, and 36 barrels of gunpowder.
Despite being busted in what you’d think was a pretty open-and-shut way, I imagine that aides from Fawkes’s conspiracy scrambled to “walk back” the idea that some bad stuff was in the process of going down. Their precise words are lost to time, but no doubt they’d have wheeled out a few of the classics. “This is just Guy being Guy – you shouldn’t take him so seriously.” “It truly saddens us to see ye olde fake news media lying that he meant any harm.” “He was just dressing up as a bomb-maker to show solidarity with our great blue-collar munitions workers.” Or my personal favourite: “These barrels of gunpowder are just a metaphor.”
What a Guy. The rest is both history, and the future that liberals want. So whichever stage of the great timeline we’re at by the time you read this, I suppose we have to at least consider that one day, people will simply enjoy some kind of jolly annual commemoration of whatever it was that happened. In the meantime, I desperately hope Guy Fawkes day is/was everything you wished it to be.

Hi!!! I have mildly reigned in my Clarkson music thoughts:
I think Wayne would be pretty set in his ways with the music he likes. Country, bluegrass, folk music. All very acoustic-based. Lots of lyrics about travelling and wandering. Songs that are probably very sad too.
Some musicians: early Bob Dylan, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, Gram Parsons/The Byrds, James Taylor.
He’d be pretty chuffed at the idea of a bunch of his faves forming The Travelling Willburys. They released their first album in 1988 (which Eddie buys him).
I don’t know why I’m envisioning Scott as liking a lot of female singer-songwriters from the 70s and that’s where there would be an overlap with Wayne’s music tastes. Like Wayne loves learns that Scott likes Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. He likes Carol King and Joni Mitchell the most.
Buuut I also think Scott would be into more contemporary stuff for the time, considering he’s a middle school teacher so he overhears a lot of music talk and has needed to confiscate a Walkman or two in his time!
Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel. I could totally see him liking the techo-whatever (I don’t know music terms) of groups like Devo too.
I'm now resisting the strong urge to write a ficlet of Scott making Wayne a mixtape!
Anyway, I'll stop. Hope this was okay 💖
Okay so it took me a while until i actually had time to answer this with the attention it deserves but THANK YOU I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS. I will now be obsessively thinking about Scott giving Wayne a mixtape bc holy shit that is the most adorable thing ever i am screaming into my pillow!!! He'd be all embarrassed about it like "i know it's something silly that all my middle schoolers do but those songs made me think of you and i wanted to share them with you" (idk if they're already officially together or still in that awkward are-we-dating-or-not phase but eddie would be watching this interaction from the couch like 👀👀👀👀👀👀 and tease wayne about it for the next 100 years. i would devour any fic about this tbh)
And i'm so glad you agree with me about Wayne being a James Taylor sad country bluegrass man! I can also definitely picture them listening to Joni Mitchell together i love that for them <3 There are for sure some artists in this list that i'm gonna have to check out, so thank you so much for sending me so many great and well thought out ideas ily! <333

Henlo, I figured I should make an introduction post of one kind or another. :O
I'm here for brainrot hours when it pertains to FFXIV, FFXV, and my OCs for the most part. I'll post art, I'll post gposes and glamours, screenshots, my housing builds, and certainly I'll be posting my OCs. Also my Quicksilver Dancers brainrot, apparently. But yes, I ship my Primam with Prompto from FFXV because they make me soft and warm.
I go by she / he / they pronouns as I'm genderfluid, and I identify as panromantic / demisexual... though honestly, I have been wondering if I'm simply demi in both departments. I'm half Filipino, half Irish living in America. I'm a childhood cancer survivor, I had leukemia Type ALL, and I'll always be open to answering questions about my experience for those who are curious for whatever reasons they may have.
Despite what my blog description might say, I'll only scream a little if you touch / interact with me. Though I'm doing my best to be more part of the community and make friends. Just know that if you get an ask / like / reblog / reply from @paintedscales, I'm just doing my best. TT u TT
I also help admin the @starlightinitiative alongside my partner and our wonderful mods! Our goal there is to spread cheer and merriment for the season of Starlight Celebration, handing out gifts that can be crafted, gathered, or farmed up! Hopefully our efforts flourish, and we'll extend what we gift out to people into art, writing, and a myriad of other creative things!

Blog 10 - Back on the Table
Taking this class scared me more than anything else I have taken (ok, except for math…) I haven’t written much poetry since high school when I gave it up because of a horrid teacher who thought ridicule was motivational. In fact, every semester, I choose one “hard” class and make sure the rest are easier so I can focus on the hard one. This semester, I was wrong. Yes, this class was challenging and drug me kicking and screaming outside my comfort zone (thank you Dr. Byrd for taking the time to discuss one of the daily poems with me…even though it still doesn’t make sense to me).
This class reminded me what I used to love about poetry. Reading “The True Account of Myself as a Bird” by Wrigley was wonderful. I used to save my babysitting money to buy poetry books – Rod McKuen and Shakespeare were always top of my list (I never knew McKuen did music - he was always a poet to me). Of course, that stopped after my terrible teacher. Now, I think it will change. We were required to attend two poetry readings. So far, I have attended five. Admittedly, I didn’t enjoy all five, and might have left early during one, but the important thing is that I don’t just pass those emails alerting me to a reading.
youtube
I may never go back to writing a lot of poetry, but it is nice to feel it is an option now. Poetry is back on the table.
Merci beaucoup for returning a lost part of my life, Dr. Byrd.

Alright, bit block of albums! Friday was The Notorious Byrd Brothers by The Byrds. So I did post about the last Byrds album on here which I really liked. The *first* Byrds album I listened to through this project was way before I started blogging about the albums. Short version: I fucking hated it. Here we have the middle ground of those two. It's inoffensive. Nothing really sticks out, good or bad. 3/5.
Saturday was Dry by PJ Harvey. The first album from her I listened to I liked at the time but soured on pretty hard down the line to the point I don't like it anymore. That may end up happening again, because I really enjoyed this on first listen. Her voice is really striking, and she never writes a song that bores me. 4/5
Sunday was Vivid by Living Colour. So I was always a Guitar Hero kid, thus "Cult of Personality" is a song that's etched itself into my god damn soul, and it's the first song on the album. Sadly, nothing else on the album is quite that good. It's all at least solid though. Towards the end of the album, there's a genuinely great cover of "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" by The Clash. Definitely recommend this album. 4/5
Monday was The Atomic Mr. Basie by Count Basie and His Orchestra. Yup. That sure is some big band music. Sounds like big band sounds. I'll be honest I don't feel like I did need to listen to this before I died. 3/5, moving right the fuck on.
Yesterday was Electric by The Cult. This is, without exaggeration or insult, the most generic hard rock album I've heard in my entire life. There is ONE thing that stood out to me, though. There's a song on here called "Lil' Devil." It's decent, as is the entire rest of the album, but the lyrics only refer to the subject as a "lil' angel" and like hey. The Cult? You failed. Literally all you had to do was switch the lyric, or the name of the song. You did neither. I don't normally demand this level of literalism because sometimes people are trying to deliberately contrast two ideas or something like that, but having listened to the album I just flatly don't believe this was a deliberate creative choice when it could be explained as a mistake. Anyway, 3/5. If you abso-fucking-lutely love 80s hard rock AND you're bored of the bigger names from that period, give it a listen I guess but that's the only reason I would recommend this.
And today is Apocalypse 91... The Enemy Strikes Black by Public Enemy. It's just okay? It kind of just slid off my brain but I did enjoy it. I feel like I should have more to say on something this politically charged but like, no I just don't. Big ol' 3/5 on this one.
But I also listened to a couple other albums that aren't actually part of this project during this time! Think of it as a bonus I guess.
A LARP discord I'm on linked the song "Rät" by Penelope Scott, the closing track on her album Public Void. I immediately went and listened to the rest because "Rät" is an absolutely amazing song viscerally screaming about how betrayed she feels by Elon Musk being a dickweed because she at some point was a huge fan. The rest of the album is similar tone of stuff, but not as catchy. It's alright.
The other one is I heard from under my rock that Olivia Rodrigo dropped her second album GUTS. I REALLY liked it, but have some thoughts. I've realized I actually really hate Olivia when she's doing sad songs. They just don't land for me. Also I really hope she gets over this breakup, but at least she's not over it in an interesting new way where she still hates him but wants him back. It's not just the same feelings as the first album. Favorite song on the album is probably "get him back!"

@breadwithaknife requested Conducter acting like a grandfather to Hat kid, Bow kid, and Mustache girl, so here we go!
"CUT!" Screamed the conductor, pausing the filming of Murder on the Owl express 2: Double Detectives "Alright lads and lassies, take yer break and be back in 10 minutes, or this mystery film'll tern into a true crime documentary!" He continued as the express owls filed out of the set and towards the little dining area they had set up outside, leaving behind three little girls, Hat kid, Bow kid, and Mustache girl. First one to reach him was Hat kid, wearing the little detective outfit being used for the film, "Heya! Is the movie lookin good?" She exclaimed excitedly "Ah, it's lookin as good as she can while it's still this early in development" replied the conductor "And just to be clear," said Bow kid in her matching detective outfit, apparently having snuck up while they were talking, "The food here is more than just birdseed right?" "Ah peck" swore the conductor "I forgot you lassies aren't birds." "Eh, its fine" said Hat kid "We'll just head up to the ship and get some G̷̛̗̙͆̿H̸̥͙̻̲̖̣̯̻̠̭͛́̒̚̕L̸̛̮̞̙̟̜̟̬̅͘ͅṚ̵̫̖̍͗͛K̴̛͎̑̒̌̀͒̀̈͘Ñ̶̡͚̀̃!" "How did you do that with your mouth?" Asked mustache girl, receiving only a vague chuckle from H.K "Uh but, do you guys just have like...fish?" "I Have No Idea What That Is." Replied B.K "Ah lass, we don't have any over here, but deejay GROOOOVES'S food court'll probably have some." The conductor said, with a little disdain while saying dj.grooves. "Perfect! I'll just go steeeeeeaaaaaa--borrow. Borrow some fish." she corrected seeing Hat and Bow kid drawing their umbrellas, and the conductor doing his best "angry parent" glare.
Mu ran off towards Grooves's set, clearly not going to borrow the fish, and HK, BK, and the conductor headed to the main stars table, with Mr. Deid Byrd and Detective Crow #37 to enjoy their food while waiting for Mu.
-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—
Thanks so much for giving me my first request! It's my first time doing this sort of writing, so I'm sorry if it's not up to your standards, but it's what I could do for now, I hope you enjoyed!

Ship Bingo:
John/Tom
Jamie/Claire
Jamie/John
Harry/Nic (just in case no one else mentioned them 😘)
Oh, these are juicy, thank you!
John/Tom aka my absolute favorite darlings:
OTP. You’ll take this ship out of my cold dead hands. Make me so unwell I broke in the ship tag and wrote 20 fics. I practically wrote a novel with them. I could put them in any scenario of any universe and it would be great.
The only reason I don’t mark relationship goals because there’s a bit of a power imbalance, but with them even that works out so well.
Aesthetically great because Tom Byrd makes sure of it. John would be a pathetic mess without him.
Whatever that screaming girl is in the middle.
I would and do read every fic about them.
I really need this to be canon (I’m joking, I don’t care about canon, but they are on that level that I just have to mark this too.)
Also love them platonically btw, I didn’t mark that bc I don’t only like them platonically if that makes sense.
I love them if you couldn’t already tell.
Jamie/Claire:
...
I already knew when I reblogged this that I wouldn’t use the more strongly worded negative ones. Luckily.
Not my thing. Wrote them in OT3 with John before, and that’s probably the only scenario where I would still might read them. But nope. It’s just... a nope from me.
The impact/their story is more interesting than the ship itself: obviously because OL is their story, and the minor characters/side stories/LJG books are a lot more interesting to me.
Jamie/John:
Ouch. That hurt.
I really need this to be canon: by that I mean it is canon, but I want to read more about all their perfectly canon kisses in the books please. And since John also married Claire you might as well make it a canon OT3. (But we all know DG wouldn’t do that).
I’m conflicted about them + fandom kind of ruined them for me: Actually, it’s more accurate to say that this ship has run its course for me and sailed away. Granted, the fandom drama didn’t help, but the effect on me was more that I started kind of hating Jamie? At least I’m always reminded of his worst traits now and feel like John deserves better. You know I’ve written quite a few stories with them in the past and read a lot more. But now I’m just unable to go back to my happy-shippy feelings about them. :(
I contemplated marking would read fic, because I’m still reading a few special fics here and there, but I also don’t seek it out anymore. It helps if it’s an AU or crossover so I can disregard canon more easily lol
Harry/Nic:
omg I appreciate that you sent me that even though you are not in the DF fandom. It’s amazing enabling right there, friend <3
They make me unwell, I’m so gone for them. Completely lost my mind over them. Can’t stop writing shit.
This is a real ship? Get well soon: that is me at myself a few months ago. Spoiler alert: she did not get well soon.
aesthetically it’s GREAT: I mean they are such a vibe. Harry is right between tall-dark-handsome and XXL twink. His dress-code is city cowboy meets Wicca-chic, plus a bit of nerd vibes plus whatever is not torn or bloody atm. Nicodemus is just absolute evil daddy. Canonically called handsome, nice voice, nice laugh, well-dressed goth basically. *chef’s kiss*
*slaps roof*: this is the ship where I can project all my obscure occult-leaning interests. Any weird trivia or nebulous concept suits this ship so well, whether it’s touched upon in canon or not. Angels, demons, saints, you name it, we can have a discussion about the meaning of life and grey morality between two make-out sessions and it doesn’t look out of place at all. I’m living for this.
I would and do read fic with them
Again, whatever that screaming girl in the middle is
I love them. And you all know that because I won’t shut up about it. Once again, you can take this ship out of my cold dead hands
Thank you so much for sending these @geekinthefuschiahair!! This was fun rambling about them <3

I really needed to read this post, especially since it helped me realize something. I've really been trying to give myself a support needs label because I thought it would make me feel more valid, and maybe neurotypical people would take me more seriously when I tell them my limitations. I didn't really understand that that's what I was hoping for, I just felt like it would help me somehow.
Truth be told, the biggest reason I've been struggling with this is because I hadn't understood a vital concept of disability activism enough to put it to words - if a disabled person says they cannot do something, an abled person's job is not to reassure them that they can, but to mind their damn business at bare minimum. It'd be even better if they'd support the disabled person through the alternative way they do things instead of trying to force them to do things the 'normal' (abled) way.
As notabled-noodle put it, you're allowed to be low support needs and still need support, and low support doesn't mean no support.
Low support doesn't mean 'put in a little elbow grease and you'll pass as neurotypical in no time,' and it certainly doesn't mean 'if you need support you're Not Trying Hard Enough', and I really needed to remind myself that not only is this true, but it's important for the abled people around me to understand as well.
The thing that I was trying to fix wasn't my own understanding of my needs but others' understandings of my limitations, and I was going about it in a way that could be harmful to others by misusing terms that really aren't meant for me.
What I wanted was for people to understand and believe my limitations, and so I was trying to label myself as a higher level of support needs in hopes that maybe some of those needs would be met.
A decent example of this that happened just recently - I confessed to my mom that I don't think I'll ever be able to drive, and then happily shared my alternative plan (public transportation until I can move somewhere rural, then riding on horseback) that would work with my needs.
Rather than celebrating with me that I'd found a tool towards independence and the life I want, she seemed disappointed that I'd given up on driving, even after I explained to her that I'd be a damn road hazard if I got a license, and that pretty much the only time I'd be able to drive safely would be at/around noon.
It really rubbed me the wrong way, and I couldn't put my finger on why until I read the post. She doesn't understand that certain tasks that are essential to modern life are beyond me, like driving. She believes with her whole heart that if I just tried hard enough, I could drive just like everybody else. And she thinks this is a good thing to believe, to hope that I can, in this aspect, function like a neurotypical.
She sees it as a respectful and kind way to view me, and I can't blame her, because that's what we're all fed growing up. Inspiration porn about how no wall that a disability puts up is insurmountable and every mountain is worth climbing.
I don't want to risk my sanity and spend my life climbing mountains to function like a neurotypical when I can make do with tools that allow me to spend my time doing things I enjoy. I shouldn't have to do that to be seen as someone who works hard - there are plenty of other things I could be working hard on.
Unfortunately, I don't think there's anything that I can do to convince her that this mountain is not worth climbing. The view at the top isn't even worth it, and everything that I'd need that I could get from climbing it is available elsewhere or replaceable with something that works just as well. She'd probably just be disappointed in me for 'limiting myself' when what I'm doing is setting myself free.
Just. Believe disabled people when they tell you they can't do something, okay?
#byrd chirps#just. thoughts#tw ableism#i think?#well-intentioned ableism but ableism nonetheless#i guess the scenario in my mind was#'if i can get my psychiatrist on board with labeling me as mid support needs or higher maybe my mom will take me seriously'#'when i say i can't do something'#which like. i shouldn't have to do that!#i shouldn't have to misuse a label in order for abled people to understand that low support needs doesn't mean disability lite!#'i'm just disappointed that you'd limit yourself like that'#MOTHERFUCKER DO YOU HAMMER NAILS WITH YOUR PALM BECAUSE TO USE A HAMMER WOULD BE LIMITING YOUR POTENTIAL???#tw caps#hghhhhh#now that i finally understand what's been bothering me about this it makes me want to scream#ugh the only way i can convince her is if i talk to my psych and tell him about the visual snow syndrome#and then maybe he can get through to her that driving ISN'T FUCKING SAFE FOR ME OR ANYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD WITH ME#byrd writes a goddamn essay#byrd SCREAMS#i can't just stop being autistic whenever it inconveniences you!#or me!#i can't just go neurotypical mode to drive! i can't turn off my sensory processing disorder!#I have incredibly poor night vision *especially* with regards to motion and lights#and i'd be a very distracted driver in the mornings and evenings unless we're out in the middle of an empty flat space with no goddamn tree#*trees#god forbid i hit a speed bump too hard#GOD FORBID SOMEONE HONK AT ME#I'd really rather not have to pull over and be stranded during rush hour because somebody's pissed off at traffic!#that's not fucking safe!#ugh

Element - “The Sound of Angels” Goth’s Undead Song released in 1991. Compilation released in 1997. Darkwave
Found a short bio of this L.A. County-based darkwave / goth rock band from a 2001 archive of the website that belonged to an early aughts downtempo and big beat duo called Papa Byrd, which founding member Scott C started after he left Element:
Scott C, a struggling young musician spent most of his time writing instrumental electronic soundscapes for a project called Fade when along came Shane Talada, hot off the heels of the extremely popular, and quite violent Screaming To God a grinding industrial outfit. Shane had been writing songs on a personal basis for years and had shelved much of his early works on some vintage synthesizers located in a small studio built outside of his house. Not long after STG's demise, Shane met up with Scott Cleaver to start fidling [sic] around with some experimental ideas. They both fused and created Element. As it turns out, Element worked better as an electronic dance outfit and early tracks written were purely electronic. They needed more members to be able to pull the whole plan off live and recruited Jeremy Meza. Jeremy Meza brought guitar skills to the table and with additional member David Skott on bass, Element was ready for prime time.
Element enjoyed some success with their single, The Sound of Angels released on Cleopatra's 2 CD box set, "Goth's Not Dead". However time waits for no one, and by the time it had come out, Scott had left the band to pursue another project called Papa Byrd. Shane and Jeremy went on to play with Komunity FK and Faith and the Muse. David Skott's whereabouts are unknown. Many believe him to be missing.
Element still plays and tours extensively to this day with revolving members.
If you're wondering if they ever found David Skott like I was, have no fear. I found an article that was promoting a goth event that he was slated to DJ at in 2008. *phew* 😅
OK, so, although that Element bio says that "The Sound of Angels" gained popularity with its inclusion on Cleopatra Records' Goth's Not Dead (that's a typo; it's actually Goth's Undead) compilation, which came out in 1997, the fact of the matter is that this song actually originally came out in 1991 on the band's debut release, a cassette called Red meat & beauty queens ep. But whether or not they re-recorded it for 1997, I really don't know.
But that's the wild thing about this brand of darkwave goth rock stuff. It's a type of music that's perpetually managed to leave itself stuck in the 80s, by choice. And it's not really a revivalist or neo- thing either. It's just music that continued to serve a small and hungry niche long after the gothic 80s had served its purpose to a mainstream audience. With most songs, you can probably tell the difference between something that was recorded between 1991 and 1997, but with a darkwave song like this one, it's really hard to tell!
And, I mean, you just have to tip your hat to a scene or cultural movement that has the ability to sustain itself for that long of a period of time off of a specific kind of sound. It's impressive. How I wish there was some kind of extant scene that still churned out 80s freestyle-laced pop burners like "Tell It to My Heart" 🥺 , but alas, the only kind of music that's seemed to really keep the 80s alive and pure is this darkwave stuff. And you can make a case for all the synthwave that's going around these days, but that's really a recent phenomenon. Darkwave's been around since the 80s and it's always sounded like it was from the 80s. There's not much else that you can really say the same of.
So, I ask you, do you think this 80s-sounding song, with its very varied ethereal synth work, its dark drum machine percussion, its brooding, UK-inspired, soft boy goth vocals, and its faintly acidic bass stabs is from 1991 or 1997? I myself really have no clue. All I can say is that Scott Cleaver's penchant for crafting electronic soundscapes is pretty apparent in a song like this one and it's cool that he took that skill and was able to fit it remarkably well into a dark, gothic framework alongside Shane Talada.
The 80s never died; they just went to the goths.

Today we remember the passing of Peter Fonda who Died: August 16, 2019 in Los Angeles, California.
Peter Henry Fonda (February 23, 1940 – August 16, 2019) was an American actor, director, and screenwriter. He was the son of Henry Fonda, younger brother of Jane Fonda, and father of Bridget Fonda. He was a part of the counterculture of the 1960s. Fonda was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Easy Rider (1969), and the Academy Award for Best Actor for Ulee's Gold (1997). For the latter, he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama. Fonda also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries or Television Film for The Passion of Ayn Rand (1999).
Fonda was born on February 23, 1940, in New York City, the only son of actor Henry Fonda (1905–1982) and his wife Frances Ford Seymour (1908–1950); his older sister was actress Jane Fonda (born 1937). He and Jane had a half-sister, Frances de Villers Brokaw (1931–2008), from their mother's first marriage. Their mother committed suicide in a mental hospital when Peter, her youngest, was ten. He did not discover the circumstances or location of her death until he was 15 years old.
On his eleventh birthday, he accidentally shot himself in the abdomen and nearly died. He went to the Indian hill station of Nainital and stayed for a few months for recovery. Years later, he referred to this incident while with John Lennon and George Harrison while taking LSD. He said, "I know what it's like to be dead." This inspired The Beatles' song "She Said She Said".
Peter attended the Fay School in Southborough, Massachusetts, and was a member of the class of 1954. He then matriculated to Westminster School, a Connecticut boarding school in Simsbury, where he graduated in 1958.
Once he graduated, Fonda studied acting in Omaha, Nebraska, his father's home town. While attending the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Fonda joined the Omaha Community Playhouse, having been recruited by Marlon Brando's mother.
By the mid-1960s, Fonda was not a conventional "leading man" in Hollywood. As Playboy magazine reported, Fonda had established a "solid reputation as a dropout". He had become outwardly nonconformist and grew his hair long and took LSD regularly, alienating the "establishment" film industry. Desirable acting work became scarce. Through his friendships with members of the band The Byrds, Fonda visited The Beatles in their rented house in Benedict Canyon in Los Angeles in August 1965. While John Lennon, Ringo Starr, George Harrison, and Fonda were under the influence of LSD, Lennon heard Fonda say, "I know what it's like to be dead." Lennon used the phrase in the lyrics for his song, "She Said She Said", which was included on their 1966 album, Revolver.
In 1966, Fonda was arrested in the Sunset Strip riot, which the police ended forcefully. The band Buffalo Springfield protested the department's handling of the incident in their song "For What It's Worth". Fonda sang some and in 1967 recorded "November Night", a 45-rpm single written by Gram Parsons for the Chisa label, backed with "Catch the Wind" by Donovan, produced by Hugh Masekela.
Fonda's first counterculture-oriented film role was as a biker in Roger Corman's B movie The Wild Angels (1966). Fonda originally was to support George Chakiris, but graduated to the lead when Chakiris revealed he could not ride a motorcycle. In the film, Fonda delivered a "eulogy" at a fallen Angel's funeral service. This was sampled by Psychic TV on their 1988 LP recording Jack the TAB. It was later sampled in the Primal Scream recording "Loaded" (1991), and in other rock songs. The movie was a big hit at the box office, screened at the Venice Film Festival, launched the biker movie genre, and established Peter Fonda as a movie name. Fonda made a television pilot, High Noon: The Clock Strikes Noon Again, filmed in December 1965. It was based on the film High Noon (1952), starring Gary Cooper, with Fonda in the Cooper role. However, it did not become a series.
Fonda next played the male lead in Corman's film The Trip (1967), a take on the experience and "consequences" of consuming LSD, which was written by Jack Nicholson. His co stars included Susan Strasberg, Bruce Dern and Dennis Hopper. The movie was a hit. Fonda then traveled to France to appear in the portmanteau horror movie Spirits of the Dead (1968). His segment co-starred his sister Jane and was directed by her then-husband Roger Vadim. For American television, he appeared in a movie, Certain Honorable Men (1968), alongside Van Heflin, written by Rod Serling.
Fonda produced, co-wrote and starred in Easy Rider (1969), directed by Dennis Hopper. Easy Rider is about two long-haired bikers traveling through the southwestern and southern United States where they encounter intolerance and violence. Fonda played "Wyatt", a charismatic, laconic man whose motorcycle jacket bore a large American flag across the back. Dennis Hopper played the garrulous "Billy". Jack Nicholson played George Hanson, an alcoholic civil rights lawyer who rides along with them. Fonda co-wrote the screenplay with Terry Southern and Hopper.
Fonda tried to secure financing from Roger Corman and American International Pictures (AIP), with whom he had made The Wild Angels and The Trip, but they were reluctant to finance a film directed by Hopper. They succeeded getting money from Columbia Pictures. Hopper filmed the cross-country road trip depicted almost entirely on location. Fonda had secured funding of around $360,000, largely based on the fact he knew that it was the budget Roger Corman needed to make The Wild Angels. The guitarist and composer Robbie Robertson, of The Band, was so moved by an advance screening that he approached Fonda and tried to convince him to let him write a complete score, even though the film was nearly due for wide release. Fonda declined the offer, instead using Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild", Bob Dylan's "It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" sung by The Byrds' Roger McGuinn, and Robertson's own composition "The Weight", performed by The Band, among many other tracks.
The film was released to international success. Jack Nicholson was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Fonda, Hopper and Southern were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. The film grossed over $40 million.
After the success of Easy Rider, both Hopper and Fonda were sought for film projects. Hopper directed the film The Last Movie (1971), in which Fonda co-starred along with singer Michelle Phillips of The Mamas and the Papas. Fonda directed and starred in the Western film The Hired Hand (1971). He took the lead role in a cast that also featured Warren Oates, Verna Bloom and Beat Generation poet Michael McClure. The film received mixed reviews and failed commercially upon its initial release, but many years later, in 2001, a fully restored version was shown at various film festivals and was re-released by the Sundance Channel on DVD that same year in two separate editions. Fonda later directed the science fiction film Idaho Transfer (1973). He did not appear in the film, and the film received mixed reviews upon its limited release. Around the same time, he co-starred with Lindsay Wagner in Two People (also 1973) for director Robert Wise, in which he portrayed a Vietnam War deserter.
Fonda starred alongside Susan George in the film Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry (1974), a film about two NASCAR hopefuls who execute a supermarket heist to finance their jump into big-time auto racing. The film was a box-office hit that year. It led to Fonda making a series of action movies: Open Season (1974), with William Holden; Race with the Devil (1975), fleeing devil worshippers with Warren Oates; 92 in the Shade (1975), again with Oates, for writer-director Thomas McGuane; Killer Force (1976) for director Val Guest; Futureworld (1976), a sequel to Westworld (1973), financed by AIP; Fighting Mad (1976), a reuniting with Roger Corman, directed by Jonathan Demme.
Outlaw Blues (1977) was a drama, with Fonda playing a musician opposite Susan Saint James. After some more action with High-Ballin' (1978), Fonda returned to directing, with the controversial drama Wanda Nevada (1979), wherein the 39-year-old Fonda starred as the "love" interest of the then 13-year-old Brooke Shields. His father, Henry Fonda, made a brief appearance as well, and it is the only film in which they performed together.
His final portrayal was in the Vietnam War movie The Last Full Measure. The director of that film, Todd Robinson, has recounted that Peter Fonda was able to view that film in its entirety, and got emotional upon viewing it.
Fonda died from respiratory failure caused by lung cancer at his home in Los Angeles on August 16, 2019, at the age of 79.
Following Fonda's death, his sister Jane Fonda made the following statement: "I am very sad. He was my sweet-hearted baby brother. The talker of the family. I have had beautiful alone time with him these last days. He went out laughing."

“There’s only two types of people in the world, ones that entertain and the ones that observe. Well, baby, I’m put on a show kind of girl.“
excuse me did you see MIKEY MADISON hanging around palmwood studios? oh no, that was NOELLE BYRD, the TWENTY TWO year old actress who plays WINTER RYANS on THE ORANGE COUNTY. yeah, you know rumour has it she’s - MATERIALISTIC, and - IMPULSIVE but her fans all say she’s + CHARMING, and + HUMOROUS. around palmwood studios she’s known as THE PRINCESS. ( cis-female, she/her)
Dream role would be Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reboot
Favorite ice cream flavor Strawberry
Red lipstick is a MUST
She has a dog named Kai
Scream singing Taylor Swift and Britney Spears
Noelle is a nepotism baby like most of her peers her mother being an actress/comedian and her father being a music manager. Unlike many other nepotism babies her parents didn’t let her be in the spotlight until she was old enough to decide. This gave Noelle time to focus on the person she wanted to be and trying ever activity until she fell in love with something. In a way she fell a little in love with everything she tried art, photography, guitar, writing it didn’t matter if she was good at it she loved them all. However, when it came to acting that’s where she fell really in love. She had always seen her mom on screen but once she started going to classes and going to auditions she felt different about acting once it was herself.
At first she got a few teen roles in comedy movies alongside some of her family friends. When she got The Orange County she fell in love with the character and it began a brand new chapter for herself.

Let’s Talk About Red Fang’s ‘Arrows’
~Words & Photos by Randy J Byrd~
What can I say about ‘Arrows’ (2021) by Red Fang? Well if you expect Murder the Mountains you can go jump off a roof. Arrows is a back to roots style record. Is it polished? No. Red Fang did what Red Fang does. What they want.
To anyone shitting on the production of this record needs to get over themself. Quit crying about the sound quality. We are in the middle of a pandemic. Be glad they were able to even put something out. So many bands out here have been forced to call it quits. Tours ruined. That means no money. Me personally. I love this record.
I'm fairly newish to Red Fang. They have been around a while. I've heard a few tunes here and there. Got to see them in 2019. They melted fuckin’ face.
This was my first whole-record listen. Thru and thru front to back. Back to front. I've dedicated time to listening to it in its entirety eight times before sitting down and writing this. Twice in the car. Twice on the Home Stereo of Doom and the other four times in the fones. It passes all these tests.
Right off the bat, it breathes that Pacific Northwest noise. This screams Melvins. It Grooves. Its got an ambiance. Its slows down, it blasts off. It even has strings a la Led Zeppelin. Even has airplane noises in the background of the opening. That is how epic this piece is.
Arrows by Red Fang
Are they not artists? Shouldn’t artists be able to do what they want? There's a lot of turmoil going on nowadays. I mean its been so bleak that people are resorting to gasps going to public parks, recreation facilities, and to national forests in droves.
Maybe these guys were channeling the current climate, both political and economical. Brass balls on them for putting out a record during a pandemic with no source of income via touring. Can't sell merch but so much online. Especially not when everyone shit on their release near immediately. Shame on you for wanting "Wires pt. II," which they seem to allude to with their lead video. Red Fang blew it out the park on this one. Kept me pumped the entire time. Doom on!

Age of Piracy au (bc I don’t have a name yet lol)
It rained the day Captain Clinton arrived to the island. Due to the weather, the induction ceremony was hurried, a simple gift of a sword and seal, along with a shake of the hand.
Obviously, there hadn’t been much of a crowd, though a few dedicated ones had shown up. There was one face, though, that stood out to the Captain. A young man with his arms crossed, his dark hair tied back, though a few thick strands hung in front of his face, which was contorted into a glare.
Stepping into his new office, Clinton had greater concerns. The space was spartan, just the way he liked it. Dark wood, some maps and nautical instruments sprawled out. There were a few books on the shelf behind the desk. Charmed, he gently picked one up, wondering if it could be something he might read for later. Opening the front, he found it marked by the looped initials “R.H.”
He glanced around the office. Perhaps it had belonged to his predecessor, who he did not know. Clinton had no sooner come ashore from the war than he was told to be the naval commandant of the island.
He figured he might as well begin the amount of introductory paperwork, when a knock at the door sounded.
He wasn’t even able to answer it before the person barged in. It was the same man he’d seen earlier.
“Don’t touch anything!”
Clinton was taken aback. “Huh?”
The man pushed past him, scooping up objects in his arms, including those books.
“Excuse me? Who are you and just what are you doing in here?” Clinton exclaimed once he recovered from the sudden interruption, turning on his heel to face the man.
“I could ask you the same thing!” The man was indignant as he struggled to carry numerous objects, including a small globe.
“They said they would leave the office alone. I wasn’t told until today that you would show up.” The man muttered under his breath, though Clinton certainly heard him.
Clinton was trying to figure out a response to such a rude intrusion when the man began to drop a few objects.
“No!” The man scrambled to pick up the objects, which was awkward with what was still left in his arms.
“Now, hold on a moment.” Clinton came over and began to unload some of the objects back onto the table, helping to pick up the dropped items too.
“What’s all this about?” Clinton stared the man down, who he now realized was much taller than him.
The man sighed. “This office was my brother’s. I’m collecting his things.”
“Oh. He left them behind?” Either his predecessor had been horribly disorganized, or the government had thrown him out too fast for him to get his bearings. The latter scenario could not bode well for the man talking his place.
“‘Course he did. He expected to come back, after all.” The young man scowled, eyes darkening.
“Ah.”
The man let out a huff, gently picking up the objects again.
“Hang on, let me help you.” Clinton found a wooden crate, began loading the books in there.
“My brother, you’re taking his place. Of course, you could never replace him.” The man did not hide the disdain in his tone.
Clinton smiled thinly. The man continued.
“You seem not to know much, but there was a pirate who used to terrorize this region. He was called “Gentleman Johnny” though for sure he was no gentleman. Looted and pillaged us, he did. My brother, Richard, made it his mission to take him down. Chased him all around the gulf, never stopping until he would bring Johnny to hang.
There was a hurricane or something a little over a year ago, that’s what the survivor said. Said he saw both Richard and Johnny’s ships go down.”
Clinton’s face softened. Oh.
“Of course, I couldn’t replace him. He sounded like a good man. I’m sorry.”
The man looked at him sharply. “I never said he was dead. He just hasn’t come back is all. Johnny can be good as dead, but I know Richard’s still out there, trying to get home.”
Clinton, who had his own fair share of bereavement, merely nodded. The poor man.
“And the damn thing is, everyone assumes it’s Richard who died, but the cunning “Gentleman Johnny” somehow survived. Damn them!” The man slammed his palm on the desk, causing it to rattle.
After an awkward silence, Clinton spoke.
“Really, sir, I’m sorry. I hope he returns.” He said softly.
“I don’t need your condolences. You shouldn’t even be here.” The man grabbed the crate, proceeded to the door.
“Hold on, I didn’t quite catch your name?” Clinton would need to speak to the governor about this lad later.
The man turned to look at him, eyes dark and determined. “William. William Howe.”
———
He watched out of his good eye as the Royal ship burned in the water. Fire crackled as it ate the wooden sinews. The wind blew slightly, and he absentmindedly grasped at the pendant he wore around his neck, thumbing over the engraved RH on it.
“Ay. Cap’in would like to see ya in his quarters.” A voice interrupted.
“Fine. Thank you.” The man turned from the railing, heading past the crew drunk on celebration.
“Huzzah for Black Dick!” They slurred. He rolled his eye as he continued to the cabin.
“Another success! A toast, Dick.” Captain “Gentleman Johnny” raised his small glass, grinning wickedly.
“You know I don’t drink.” Dick merely sat down at the table.
“Exactly. Means more for me.” Johnny poured himself another glass, downing one after the other.
“And yet, what did this really bring us?” The captain collapsed dramatically in his chair, looked at his second in command.
“Keeps the crew happy.”
“Ah, they know it ain’t much. We’ve been scraping by on the fringes for months now. Near a whole year, now that I think of it. To have to hide our faces like this...” Johnny sneered.
“I’m sick of it, old boy. It should be those Royal cowards who are afraid to show themselves.”
Dick looked at him through his one good eye, his expression unmoving.
Johnny cracked a smile. “Ooo, forgive my choice of words there. I assumed the wounds wouldn’t hurt as much now.”
“I didn’t say anything.” Dick shrugged.
“That’s the problem with you. Silent as a rock!” Johnny laughed as he got up, patting Dick on the shoulder before refilling his glass.
“No, what I’m getting at is it’s time for us to fight, really fight. Again. No more hiding like prey.” Johnny wagged a finger.
“So, is this finally your grand return?” Dick asked.
Johnny crouched beside the chair, slung an arm around him. “Our grand return. How would you like to go home, Richard?”

I was tagged by @touchisthemiracle to do this playlist poetry! Thank youu 😘✌🌻
Rules: Put your playlist on shuffle, write down the first lines of the first 25 songs that come, and later write the titles and tag 10 people.
Alright so this is from my Mystical Music playlist ✌
It’s gettin’ near dawn, when lights close their tired eyes
Down the street you can hear her scream "you're a disgrace", as she slams the door in his drunken face
Is that the stars in the sky or is it rain fallin’ down?
So, so you think you can tell, heaven from hell
Me & Magdalena, we’re driving south through Monterey
Love’s a surprise to me, brings out the heights in me
Tell all the people that you see, follow me
When the truth is found to be lies
Ring, my friend, I said you’d call Doctor Robert
The storm is threat’ning, my very life today
I was dancing when I was 12, I was dancing when I was 12
love me two times baby, love me twice today
Let me take you down, cause I’m going to Strawberry Fields
One pill makes you larger and one pill makes you small
Get your bearings, know your time
You know I smoked a lot of grass, oh lord I popped a lot of pills
Said the straight man to the late man, where have you been
Carry me caravan, take me away
Michelle, my belle, these are words that go together well
I, I love the colorful clothes you wear, and the way the sunlight plays upon her hair
Wishful, crystal water covers everything in blue, cooling water
Snowqueen of Texas, left Paris in a cloud of smoke
Time has come to give a breath of fresh air to our sons
We’ve got a mandrake root, it’s some thunder in my brain
Eight miles high, and when you touch down, you’ll find that it’s stranger than known
