Hi, different anon here I would like to ask do you actually believe the novels are canon?

Because from what I can see Jun Esaka didn't really give a direct answer, avoiding saying anything that can hurt sales of the novels.

The novels beings spinoffs doesn't make them canon, as you have things like Rock Lee and his ninja pals and Sasuke SD, they are also spinoffs but no one calls them canon, the movies are also such works but again none of them is officially canon except the ones that were stated to be by Kishimoto (The Last and Boruto movie).

So I don't really see why the novels would be canon unless Kishimoto directly says they are or at the very least the source material makes a reference to the novels in some way, as far as I can tell the novels are unrelated to the main plot of the Boruto manga, which has been officially stated by Kishimoto to be a sequel of Naruto.

Kishimoto created the character of Boruto and even some of the main parts of the plot in the Boruto manga, not to mention he always was credited as supervisor of the manga and anime but not in the novels. In an interview it was confirmed by Ukyo Kodachi that Kishimoto is a lot more involved with the Boruto manga than fans realize, after Kishimoto returned to write Boruto, Kodachi stated that it was always planned for him to return. so Boruto manga should not have any doubts that it is canon, unlike with the novels.

Finally I think by stating the novels are canon just because Kishimoto illustrated covers even if he read and edited things, it creates a problem, which is other works that Kishimoto was heavily involved in but don't have a canon status, for example Road to ninja movie, which Kishimoto has writing credits (screen story), planning and character design in that movie so by the logic used to say the novels are canon this movie can also be called canon, or do you think the novels somehow are more canon than this movie? if so please explain.

Yes, I believe that the novels are canon, because THEY ACTUALLY ARE.

Naruto Novels are as canon as the novels of other shonen mangas (If you read a lot of manga, and are part of lot of fandoms, you will understand what I am talking about).

And Jun Esaka didn't really answer anything. She was not being interviewed or anything. That was just a simple tweet, where she was trying to promote her novel.

What she said was that - "This is one of the many spin-offs that have been released, and the original manga is the one and only truth. And the ultimate masterpiece."

This is how people give credit in Japan, to the original series Author. It has been done by many authors who have released spin-offs of other Shonen mangas. And they are considered as canon, byJapanese fandom and readers.

Honestly, Only the western fandom is TRYING TO LOOK TOO MUCH UNDERNEATH THE UNDERNEATH, WHICH IS NOT AT ALL REQUIRED. And, I have no idea why you are even thinking so much about it.

Now, Why are you comparing PARODY SERIES - Rock Lee SD and Sasuke SD, with official Novels - which are there to fill in the gaps between manga chapters?

KISHIMOTO DOESN'T NEED TO VERBALLY SAY IT OUT LOUD. THE FACT THAT HE ILLUSTRATED THOSE NOVELS, READ AND EDITED IT. AND APPROVED TO RELEASE IT WITH HIS OWN NAME, AS AN OFFICIAL PIECE, AND LET HIS CHARACTERS HAVE THOSE STORIES IS MORE THAN ENOUGH PROOF.

Yes, The Manga did make reference to the Novels. You remember this scene -

Where Sasuke Said that - "By the time that we get there, She might have already taken care of everything", It was originally a reference to a something which happened 15 years ago, which is mentioned in the Sakura Hiden Novel. Read it if you haven't.

And About Boruto Manga, No, Kishimoto didn't interfere with the storyline of Boruto since the manga started(He only did in the Boruto Movie), he just read and supervised it before the final release, if you go through all the interviews and all the materials, than you will realise that Kishimoto was totally focused on his other project(which failed recently, and so he came back to the franchise), for the last few years, and WASN'T INVOLVED IN THE STORYLINE AND SCRIPT. He just read it before the release, that's Supervision.

Why else do you think Boruto wasn't as successful as Naruto?? It was because Kishimoto left the franchise.

Basically, The involvement that Kishimoto had in Boruto (Until Chapter 54) was same as that he had in novels. That is final edit and promotion. That's it.

But, Still the Boruto manga is considered as canon.

And in the Same manga, they have released the sequence in which Novels need to be read to satisfy the timeline -

(Like You can see...The PARODY SERIES - ROCK LEE SD AND SASUKE SD ARE NOT IN THIS LIST XD)

And like I said, the novels are considered as canon in Japan, and the mangas are released for the Japanese fandom. Now, If Japanese Readers are not doing mental gymnastics about whether to not the novels are canon. Then Why are You?

Processes: screen print Found Missing started as a collage using a print out of a Photoshop gradation I combined with laser copies of meteorites. The Widmastatten pattern (inside some meteorites) are created as nickel/iron chrysalises over millions of years, a wonderful representation of time. In the end I ditched this aspect when I was more drawn to the shape of the meteor and wanted the emphasis on the background texture (ESA’s synthetic universe) and a sense of missing information.The double horizon also implies aspects of time. There is fluorescent red in the pink ink - the colour palette took a while to perfect and were influenced byJapanese wood block prints.
