Read an excerpt below:
Dr. Wheeler did not touch Reverend Byers on Sunday. He did not kiss him, even when they woke up in the same bed.
It was an unspoken rule, the one they adhered to every week without fail.
Will woke up before the first light of morning broke the horizon, the gray hue of pre-dawn signaling the sun's imminent arrival. It would soon illuminate all the buildings of the small town of Hawkins, peeling back shadows and glinting off of window panes.
Will had been awakened by pain in his hands, and knees. It had pulled him out of his dreams, blunt and throbbing and more intense than he had felt it in days.
There was always something that woke Will up on Sunday mornings. He had come to conclude that it was the Lord calling him. However, it seemed as though he kept calling him earlier and earlier each Sunday. He didn’t sleep well on Saturday nights. Nerves, for his sermon the next day. Anticipation.
He came by Mike’s office last night for that exact reason. Or, at least, that was what he told himself. He was looking for something to help him sleep. He set aside the chamomile and baptisia tea his sister, Jane, had brewed for him, and walked a half mile into town as if it was the only logical thing to do.
He got out of bed, shifting gingerly out from under the quilt. His feet met cold wooden boards, and he shivered. Mike was still asleep, with soft features and his mouth ajar, drooling.
He dressed, slowly, taking his clothes from the wicker chair. Mike must have picked them up from the floor and folded them after he fell asleep. He smoothed out the wrinkles, and fastened his high collar over the red bruises kissed into his neck.

OUR COVENANT RIGHT TO BE HEALED
Jesus not only redeemed us from sin, He also redeemed us from sickness.  So it is God's will to heal you.  Never doubt it, because healing is in His redemptive plan.
The Bible says that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established (Matthew 18:16).  The following texts from Isaiah, Matthew, and First Peter all agree that Jesus took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses:
Isaiah 53:4-5 - King James Version (KJV)
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
MISTRANSLATION IN THE ORIGINAL KING JAMES VERSION
The words "griefs" and "sorrows" are the Hebrew words that are literally "sicknesses" and diseases."   Dr. Isaac Lesser's translation of The Hebrew Bible, a translation authorized for use by Orthodox Jews, reads:  "Our diseases did he bear himself, and our pains he carried:  while we indeed esteemed him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted."
Matthew 8:17 - King James Version (KJV)
17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
Matthew is quoting Isaiah.  We know that Jesus was made to be sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21).  The object of His sin-bearing was that we might be free from sin, and the object of His sickness-bearing was that we might be free from sickness.  This truth is also reflected in First Peter 2:24:
1 Peter 2:24 - King James Version (KJV)
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Thus, three witnesses -- Isaiah, Matthew, and Peter - tell us not only that Jesus shed His blood for the remission of our sins but that with His stripes we were healed.
OUR LEGAL RIGHT TO DIVINE HEALING
Not only is healing in God's "redemptive plan," but because Jesus sealed the New Covenant with His own blood, we also have a legal right to divine healing (Hebrews 8:6, 12:24, 13:20)
The New Covenant guarantees us the rights and privileges that Jesus secured for us, which include divine healing.  In Mark 11:24 He said, "What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them and ye shall have them."  Therefore, we have a prayerful right to divine healing!
Then in Psalm 23:5, the Psalmist talks about Jesus as our Redeemer, saying. "Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies."  Therefore healing is our provisional right -- our Heavenly Father has prepared a table of provision for us, and it includes healing.

The Lord is Good
1 Therefore laying aside all malice and all guile, and hypocrisy and envy and all evil speaking, 2 as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word, that ye may grow thereby, 3 if so it be that ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. 4 Coming to Him as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, 5 ye also as living stones are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 6 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture: "Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious; and he that believeth in Him shall not be confounded." 7 Unto you therefore who believe, He is precious; but unto those who are disobedient, "The stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner," 8 and, "A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense," even to those who stumble at the Word, being disobedient, unto which also they were appointed. 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. 10 In times past ye were not a people, but are now the people of God; who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, 12 having your way of life honest among the Gentiles, that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. 13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake, whether it be to the king as supreme, 14 or unto governors as unto those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do well. 15 For so is the will of God, that with welldoing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men" 16 as free, and not using your liberty as a cloak for maliciousness, but as the servants of God. 17 Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king. 18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. 19 For this is thankworthy: if a man, because of his conscience toward God, endure grief, suffering wrongfully. 20 For what glory is it if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? But if when ye do well and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. 21 For even unto this were ye called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps, 22 "who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth"; 23 who when He was reviled, reviled not in return; when He suffered, He threatened not, but committed Himself to Him that judgeth righteously; 24 who His own self bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed. 25 For ye were as sheep going astray, but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls. — 1 Peter 2 | Third Millennium Bible (TMB) Third Millennium Bible, New Authorized Version, Copyright 1998 by Deuel Enterprises, Inc. 𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐈𝐒 𝐔𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐑𝐘!
🟢Jesus took your sickness and gave you health.
🟢He took your disappointment and gave you hope.
🟢He took your discouragement and gave you courage.
🟢He took your grief and in its place gave you peace.
🟢Your sorrows were borne away by Jesus, and He have you joy.
🟢If you believe in Jesus but have been living in lack, debt, sickness or failure, God wants you to get up and out of the rut.
🟢God's desire is that you prosper and live in health as your soul prospers (3 John 1:2).
🟢He wants you to discover all He did for you through His death on the cross and begin to appropriate them to yourself. Then you'll start walking in the blessings: health, success, abundance, and prosperity.
🟢God loves you. He gave His Son Jesus on the cross as proof of his love for you.
🟢If you were the only one on earth that needed redemption, He would still have sent Jesus to die for you.
🟢He wants you to know that and divine health are part of the salvation that was wrought for you on the Cross.
🟢There's no suffering you're suffering today that you're supposed to suffer.
🟢There's no disease in your life today that you're supposed to have.
🟢God anointed Jesus of Nazareth for you. When He walked the face of the earth, the Bible says He went about doing good and healing the oppressed of the devil (Acts 10:38).
🟢The devil has been defeated; his works have been paralyzed and the victory is yours, Hallelujah!
🟢Walk in the light of your victory today. Walk free of sickness, disease, and infirmity. The Lord Jesus Christ has done everything necessary to bring you out of any and every predicament.
🟢You don't have to do anything to qualify for God's blessing.
🟢Jesus did everything that was required for you. He was made poor for you; He suffered great shame and excruciating pain at the hand of the Roman soldiers, and died a sinner's death on the cross of Calvary for you.
🟢On that cross, both God and man crucified Jesus. The Bible says,
“Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand” (Isaiah 53:10).
🟢Every manner of sickness was placed on His body. He suffered all that for your sake, so that you may live in righteousness and health.
🟢No matter what you may be going through right now, whether in your body, or your family, or your marriage, or at work, or even with your children, I've got good news for you: it's time to enter into God's rest.
🟢Jesus settled it all! 1 Peter 2:24 declares that “his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree that we being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
🟢He made you well over 2,000 years ago when he suffered on the cross.
🟢He took those death-dealing blows for your sake.
🟢Refuse to consider your circumstances; rest from struggles. Jesus has already done it all!
God bless you!

Daily Devotionals for June 1, 2023
Proverbs: God's Wisdom for Daily Living
Devotional Scripture:
Proverbs 17:22(KJV): 22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. Proverbs 17:22(Amp): 22 A happy heart is a good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries the bones.
Thought for the Day
Maintaining a joyful spirit is like taking a dose of healing medicine. Scientists are beginning to see the Biblical truth that one's mental state affects one's physical state. A negative outlook causes people to succumb to sickness more readily than a positive one. According to many studies, a happy outlook may help cardiac patients avoid heart attacks and other health problems, because a hearty laugh causes a small, but fleeting decrease in blood pressure and releases endorphins, which have a pain-relieving and soothing effect on the body. Some doctors recommend that patients suffering serious illnesses add laughter to their treatment regimen, advising that they regularly watch comedy shows.
We must not allow Satan to break our spirits; for a broken spirit "dries up the bones." Our bones contain marrow which is vital for a healthy body; it consists largely of blood cells in all stages of development. Red blood corpuscles contain the iron compound, hemoglobin, that gives us strength and energy; white blood cells protect the body from infections and disease; and blood platelets are essential for blood clot formation. New blood cells are released into the bloodstream from the bones every second. Thus, we can see how important our bone marrow is.
If we succumb to the devil's lies and attacks, he can rob us of our joy which can cause the "drying of our bones." In essence, this means it can weaken our immune system, thus affecting all areas of our body, soul (the mind, the emotions, the will), and the spirit. We are triune beings, designed to function as a unit. The regenerated spirit should be in control of the soul, with the body in subordination to them. If bodily appetites or emotions control us instead of our quickened spirit, God's order is violated. We function abnormally; which is below our God-given potential. Jesus came as the Great Physician to minister wholeness to His people (Matthew 4:24).
To function properly, we must become "born again" by receiving the Spirit of Life. We will never be whole without this first step. Next, we must ask God to cleanse us, so that we might truly love Him with all our hearts. This is the first and greatest commandment (Matthew 22:36-38). Finally, we need to appropriate the healing Jesus purchased for us. Before dying on the cross, Jesus was lashed with Roman whips which tore pieces of flesh from His back. These are the stripes by which we were healed. "Whom his self-bares our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed" (1 Peter 2:24; see also Isaiah 53). God wants us to be whole: spirit, soul, and body. We can maintain wholeness by keeping a joyful heart; praising God and enjoying His blessings. Truly, it is like a dose of good medicine that brings healing.
Prayer Devotional for the Day
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for not only saving my soul but for the promise of healing also. I do appreciate the many times over the years that You have healed me personally. I also thank You for the gift of healing as I have prayed and You have touched others with Your healing virtue. You truly are the Great Physician. I do appreciate that about You. Lord, I do want to always remain in a joyful attitude, no matter what might come my way. Fill me with Your love, joy, and peace daily, so that I might be an example of Your goodness. I ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus. Amen.

OUR COVENANT RIGHT TO BE HEALED
Jesus not only redeemed us from sin, He also redeemed us from sickness.  So it is God's will to heal you.  Never doubt it, because healing is in His redemptive plan.
