Let’s get one thing straight… Padmé didn’t marry Anakin because she felt like she had to “save him” and that she viewed him as this broken little boy whom she wanted to save back on Tatooine. She loved him for his strength, goodness, heart and soul, his heroism, and his openness to love her and be passionate about it. What can be said though is that she did end up saving him by loving him unconditionally and that love transcending to their son, which ended up redeeming Vader himself. But that’s not the reason why she chose him and fell for him. I swear people who say the former always end up being Anakin antis, and then it all makes sense why they’d headcanon that Padmé only pitied Anakin and didn’t actually love him.

Enough of regressing their very tragic and very beautiful love story into a woman who saw her husband as a pity case.

[Secrets of the Jedi] Padmé and Anakin resolve their disagreement over her going on a dangerous mission

Anakin needed to talk to Padme directly. Palpatine couldn’t order her not to go. But Anakin could.

Padme’s laughter bubbled, then died when she saw he was serious. “You’re ordering me?”

“Yes. I have a right. I have more experience than you do; I’m a Jedi and I know what we could be in for. I’m also an officer in the Republic army.”

“But I’m not.” Padme continued to fold a robe she was placing in a small bag at her feet. “So thanks but no thanks, Commander.”

“It’s dangerous and unnecessary for you to go, and I won’t allow it.”

Padme turned. Her gaze was direct. Cool and composed. That always infuriated him. “I think you know well enough how your attitude angers and upsets me. I don’t respond to orders. I am a Senator. I have a duty to perform. So I am going.”

“Padme, please.” He wanted to give in to her softness, but she stood before him, ramrod straight. She wasn’t wearing her ceremonial robes, only a soft sheath down to her ankles, but she might as well be costumed in armor. He collapsed on his back on the sleep couch. “I don’t know why it’s so hard to talk to you.”

“That’s because you’re not talking to me. You’re ordering me.”

“I’m just trying to keep you safe.”

“This is not the way to do it.” He looked up. She was smiling at him. She came and sat beside him.

“I know you worry about my safety,” she said in the soft tone he loved. “I worry about yours. We live in perilous times, Anakin. We’re in the middle of a war. I’m in danger no matter where I am. We’ve both been in some kind of danger since the moment you arrived to protect me.”

“Agreed. But do you have to volunteer for it?”

She took his hand and laced her fingers through his.

“I offered to go because I knew I would be safe. I knew the best Jedi in the Order would be there to protect me.”

He groaned. “Now don’t start flattering me.”

She grinned at him. “I meant Obi-Wan.”

He tossed a pillow at her, and she shrieked in surprise. She threw it back, and he held it suspended in the air with the Force.

“Are you still trying that same trick on me?”

“It’s worked in the past.” She lay down beside him. They faced each other, almost nose to nose.

“I’ll be careful,” she said.

“I won’t leave your side,” he said.

“Don’t,” she said, drawing him close. “I don’t want you to.”

Cinder is kind of brushed to the side in my opinion and I hope we see more of his character development in the future! I love that he is like more of a snooty/arrogant unicorn. I know he and Val get along well but I’d love to see where their differences lie 🦄🔥

Personally, I absolutely hate that arc, I like to pretend it doesn’t exist, and I think Clovis can rot in hell:

I think movie Padmé would have been infuriated at Clovis because he touched her without her consent. And although I’m sure movie Padmé would have been afraid and angry after seeing Anakin furiously beat up Clovis, I’m sure she would’ve tried to talk it over with Anakin more. I’m also sure movie Padmé would understand why Anakin was so angry- after all, Anakin just saw his wife being sexually assaulted.

It went so fast Vader had no time to react. One moment, he heard her voice as clear as the day he thought he had snuffed out her light. The next, familiar slender arms were flung around his shoulders; tiny hands clinging to his hefty cape. She weighed nothing, her feet dangling in the air as she held onto him. By habit, one strong arm closed around her waist to support her small frame.

"Anakin," she breathed, unfazed by his bulk, or his horrifying face plate, or the neck piece digging into her soft cheek.

Vader felt as if his knees may buckle beneath him, his free hand awkwardly closing and releasing. He couldn't think, his head swimming and what little remained of his own body trembling. She was supposed to be dead, yet here she was.

Her clothes were dirty, her hair loose and messy. The same old trusty blaster in her holster, the same fierce defiance in her hazel eyes.

Vader was supposed to denounce the name she was speaking, he wasn't supposed to respond to it any longer. He had cut all ties to his past.

Still, when spoken in her tender voice, he couldn't. All he managed to do was pull her closer to his chest, his heart aching and his eyes burning. If he could have, he would have wept out of relief. He didn't deserve her. Yet, here she was.

Safe.

Alive.

"Padmé," he said, even his monotone vocoder able to convey the reverent awe behind the utterance.

She had come back for him.

Sure.

Padmé has a Black Card granted to her from her time as queen which allows her to buy mostly whatever she wants. Apart from using it for necessity, she mostly uses it to buy new outfits, and more importantly, invest in Anakin's account.

During the Clone Wars, Padmé registered a bank account for Anakin on Naboo under a pseudonym and threw in lots of money into that bank account. Even though they are a couple and will live together, she wants to make sure Anakin is financially stable.

After leaving the Jedi Order after the Clone Wars, Anakin used the account and changed the name of the account to his actual name. Anakin mostly uses the account to buy all sorts of tech and mechnos which he would obviously be into as well as videogames. Apart from that, Padmé (who has left the Senate) has been urging Anakin to freshen up his wardrobe now that he's no longer a Jedi and filthy rich, so he also uses them on new clothes whenever Padmé takes him for shopping.

Padmé and Anakin would be an idle rich couple, but they prefer to stay away from the spotlight and raise their children in peace. Padmé still consistently pours money into Anakin's account, but I do believe Anakin may distinguish himself at some point and get his own Black Card. Hell, if he milks his Hero with No Fear status for all its worth, he may as well already get that Black Card not long after retirement.

How do proshippers compare Anidala to the same level of toxicity that their gr00mer and p*do ships are on? Anidala in it’s nature was never toxic, and one moment of despair (which only exists to serve a narrative purpose and isn’t supposed to be a representation of that character or the relationship) doesn’t at all negate this fact. Especially since we all know Anidala are part of a space-fantasy esque story. So dramatics such as the above-mentioned content is highly expected.

Anakin and Padmé were the ideal couple. Completely, insanely, and madly in love. They would’ve sacrificed for each other, supported each other, and overall were a joyous couple. They were happy. That’s why the last scene in ROTS has such a huge impact.

Now don’t go comparing THAT to fictional parings that’s innately toxic in it’s nature such as: grown men meeting or raising up 9/14 yo old kids then getting with them when they’re of “age”.

Attack of the Clones Naboo field scene ideas

After they stop rolling around on the ground Padmé looks down at Anakin smiling and laughing face and wants to kiss him. She’s able to stop herself and rolls off him. Anakin stands up and offers her a hand which she accepts. Once standing Padmé looks into his eyes and pulls him close by his elbows and kisses him.

Once the kiss ends they stand there catching their breath their thoughts interrupted by the breeze. Anakin suggests they should head back, neither talk about the kiss.

I have always liked this promo photo and think this is the kiss Anakin is talking about later in the fire place scene.
