it’s been about a week now, and you’re already settled into liyue. you’ve caught the eye of a bunch of passersby in the city- a sumeru vision wielder living in liyue harbor? 

thankfully, you had the traveler and a kind woman from the qixing named ganyu able to assist you with questions about the city. the first day you got there, she noticed your vision, and asked you all about it. it soon led to the two of you hitting off the start of a friendship in a nice restaurant- with ganyu telling you all of the things to do in liyue, the jobs that can be taken, and how magical the lantern rite especially is. you mentioned to her that you had a passion for the arts, and she immediately helped you look for a side job to make a little bit of mora to pay rent in your nice abode in the middle of the harbor.

“so, were your travels from sumeru alright? i’ve heard trudging through desert is not a very enjoyable experience..” ganyu questioned, a slight grin to be found on her face. “though, i have heard that the city down there is very nice. i would love to visit for myself one day, but with work and adeptal business it makes my days a little tight.”

you nod before replying. “the city is beautiful, especially at night. theres a gorgeous stage down there too, where a young woman named nilou always performs on special events. it’s always been the most majestic part of the city, or at least in my opinion.” 

ganyu lets out a noise of fascination, before giggling a little. “i would love to watch her dance. nilou is a familiar name, some people here strictly go to sumeru just to see her. i bet she’s as wonderful as everyone makes her out to be.” ganyu sighs. “i wonder if she travels? we have nice performing places here, too.”

you nod. “occasionally. it mostly has to be a big event for her to arrive, though.” you take another bite of your food. “but i bet if i asked her, she’d come out for at least a few days.”

that made ganyu smile once more, before she asked another question. “well, this may be an odd question, but do you have any romantic relationships?” 

“well, that's the reason i decided to move here,” now it is your turn to sigh, making ganyu have a confused look dancing across her face. “my partner and i got into an argument. he wouldn’t stop overworking himself, and i simply just wanted him to come to bed. but he’s so stubborn, and he took his work stress out on me. there was… certainly a lot of name calling.”

ganyus look of confusion immediately switches to an apologetic one. “ah, you made the right choice. that’s no way to treat your spouse.” 

you nod in agreement, before finishing your dish and pushing it slightly out in front of you. 

“well, i’m going to head back to my apartment now. this was very nice, we should do it again sometime!” you smile before standing and putting some money on the table. “here, this should be half. have a good night, ganyu!”

he hasn’t been home in about a week and a half, due to his work causing his presence nearly 24/7. that pretty much means he hasn’t realized you’ve left yet. 

as he walks home, he doesn’t know how he would approach you. does he pretend the issue doesn’t exist? does he keep ignoring you? does he apologize? he thought his mind would split open.

as he walks through the door, he notices that the house is a little… emptier, from when the two of you lived together. he walked through the whole place, looking into the bathrooms to see your products gone. looking at the laundry room, met with no clothes that are yours hanging from the clothesline. and now, when he went to your bedroom…

your pillowcases have been stripped from the bed, and your pillow thrown into the closet. there were only a stack of two pillows, right in the middle of the bed. now his heart was thumping, and really hard. he looked through the dressers. the left side was barren, leaving only his side full. the thing that brought tears to the mans eyes was seeing your wedding ring on your side of the table. 

so you really left him. he stands there, shocked, unknowing of what to do. does he try to find you, or does he let you go? oh, how he regrets ever talking to you the way he did. if he just took your advice, you would be in bed, waiting for his arrival. likely bringing him into a hug, shaking all his worries and stress away as you whispered questions along about how his day was. 

the next few days felt like someone kept coming over to his desk and stabbing his back with blades like his. he felt so regretful, doing everything he can to stay composed while at the same time trying to find where you’ve gone. dehya won’t give him anything besides “somewhere close to sumeru that’s not sumeru.” that could mean you’ve gone to fontaine, liyue, or monstadt. how would he ever find you?

he’d ask the gaurds, and they all told him you went in the direction of the chasm. getting somewhere, but not close enough. he could walk all that way and come up empty handed. he doesn’t have an exact pinpoint on you yet. 

he’d ask nilou. she’d just shrug and say something along the lines of “i heard what happened, but i do not know fully where they went.” 

he walked the paths of the city, lost deep in thought. everyone thought it was a little out of character for someone such as him to look and feel as lost as he is. as much as people wondered what happened, they kept their mouths shut.

and for the people who noticed your absence, too, they’d ask different people who would likely have knowledge. but alhaitham didn’t know where to go now. he could walk the whole chasm and still not have you turn up. he could check every apartment complex in liyue harbor, and knock on every door on the outskirts. he could sail the seas to inazuma, and walk every separate island to see who may be housing you, or what commission you may have been taken in by. he could fall down the very waterfall that leads an entrance to the enchanting location called enkanomiya. he could go to fontaine, dive under the waters, walk every rocky mountain, and even visit the fortress of meropide. he could fight every monster near the city of monstadt, looking upon every rooftop for signs of your art, blown through the city of wind. but he still wouldn’t find you.

now what he doesn’t know is that you’re in liyue harbor, and nobody frets to tell him that anytime soon. for now, they’re just going to let him suffer, the same way he let you.

Being aromantic faces a lot of stigma due to it being viewed as “romantic repulsed” or incapable of romantic love. This is wrong. While some may be repulsed by romance on a whole, many dont. They may feel little to no romantic feelings. They may have spikes. What matters is being aromantic is a SPECTRUM.

Aromantics can still have crushes. They can still dream about being in a romantic relationship. They can enjoy doing romantic things like going on dates, or being affectionate. However (coming from an aromantic) they may struggle with forming a romantic attachment to someone or even considering someone in a romantic state.

Their love can fizzle out quickly after entering a relationship and they can feel out of place for it or otherwise grow disinterested the closer they get. While they may dream about the IDEA of being in a romantic relationship, however they may abhor or be generally disgusted at the idea of being committed to an actual person! Or heck they might even like the idea and then dislike all the traditionally ROMANTIC actions (like going out together, picnics, gifts, etc) of it and treat it more like a closer friendship than a traditional romance.

They can like doing romantic things but be uncomfortable with them being tied to a committed traditional relationship and strictly romantic context! What matters is you can be any of the above and still somewhat register on the spectrum.

Common aromantic experiences are:

Having a crush on someone but feeling no need for them to return it in kind / losing interest when they start reciprocating

Liking the idea of being in a romantic relationship, but feeling little to no interest when people approach you with it.

Of course this doesnt mean aromantics can be COMPLETELY adverse to a relationship. Aromantics can still be in romantic relationships for other reasons. An extremely close friendship for example. As someone whos been in relationships with other aromantics its one of the incredibly rare times i feel some semblance of affection (usually after they confess; i find i never even entertain the thought of romantic ties beforehand but thats my experience).

And finally sexual and romantic attraction is different. You can experience sexual attraction without necessarily feeling romantic, or vice versa, or even barely any at all.

and nowhere in canon does it say she predicted that they end up together btw, its already very clear to me that youre very biased but this is just something you made up. if you headcanon that, thats perfectly okay!! but as far as we know, it didnt happen. nowhere does it say or even slightly imply that her soulmate power has anything to do with her predictions of the future, most of her powers that we see actually dont lol she predicts some futures but her other most prevalent powers we're shown are her ability to see auras and "compatibility" (which you can headcanon or theorize as having to do with future predictions, but again in canon this is never even so much as alluded to)

so yeah its not a future prediction and also even if it was, they literally prove in the show that the future can be changed, especially if you KNOW the future. but regardless, i doubt its a prediction in the first place and all evidence points to it not being so, especially since aiura went out of her way to come to pk to find her soulmate which, if she had already predicted theyd be together eventually, would change their future, their meeting, and their love story drastically and, although i have criticisms for how she wholeheartedly trusted her power and didnt actually make any romantic connection with saiki before trying to date him, aiura is not nearly stupid enough to mess it up that badly

anyway, like ive said a million freaking times, i do think "soulmate" the way she says it has a romantic connotation, but my point is that that doesnt actually mean much in terms of anything romantic happening between them. it didnt happen in canon and theres nothing to imply that it ever will. shipping and headcanoning is awesome and fun and i love love loveeee aiura and saikis friendship and how fun it is to build off of, but a romantic relationship between them is not canon, not now and never in the future. in myyyyy opinion, they found each other and theyre good for each other and thats what matters to me about their relationship and thats what makes them "soulmates".

this is my last ask when it comes to bill and ford (as it's such a heavy situation) but im actually glad to see someone that doesn't look at billford and think it's lovey dovey in any of the sense. It's a cataclysmic relationship in all meaning of the word. People can of course ship what they so please but billford would never be anything good. I dont even think bill has the capability of having any sort of emotion that would be akin to romantic love, or any good emotion in general. He's a demon through and through. I truly cant see the ship as anything more as hateful platonic, if anything, SA. Bill strictly used Ford for his own gain, and imo, his "obsession/grudge" that people say he has, would be not cause he misses him, but because he's angry that he lost and no longer has that hold on Ford that he once had. People have to make things squeaky clean because if they ship something that has noncon or whatever in it then it's 'problematic' and they have to feel dirty for doing so. They've got to make it digestible for a puritanical culture.

An example of this is Hannigram. Totally abusive, fucked up and weird. But the fandom never (or rarely) ever made a fix it fic or a Hannibal is good now! au. Hannibal was always the bad guy and it was fine because that was his character and that was how he and Will were in the show. It was fine because it was portrayed as fucked up and we all knew it, but no one ever tried to make it seem romantic or whatever beyond some memes. Everyone approached it for what it was: Insane.

Making Bill good or giving him human emotion is ridiculous because it goes against his character completely. Like, at that point just make an OC because that's what you're projecting onto Bill.

Oh, Chris 100% knew that Mulder and Scully weren't strictly platonic: he started the show by comparing them to a (then) famous will-they-won't-they couple; and admitted, years in:

Interviewer: When you first explained Scully and Mulder to FOX, was it a point of sale that this was going to be purely working relationship, no love interest.

CC: I wanted it to be that way from the get-go, although I did want there to be sort of an underlying tension between the two of them because my feeling is when you put two smart people, a man and a woman, in a room, I don’t care whether or not they’re passionate about their life and their work, you’re going to get sexual tension out of that naturally.

Interviewer: How important is the sexual tension between the characters?

CC: I never wanted them to jump in the sack together because it was uninteresting to me. Chris (later) admitted, over and over, that he'd planned for Mulder and Scully to get together at the end of the show. To this day, he claims to know what the last scene of The X-Files would be-- and I'd bet that last scene involves a chaste, romantic kiss. Unfortunately, he blew the kiss card during Season 7 (which was supposed to be the last season.) Still, hope flamed eternal; and he and Spotnitz successfully baited the network into another go around after Millennium and all things (before Requiem, if I recall.) Then, he was left with a floundering, "Now what?"

Ironically, he did have the happy ending and final kiss scene: Existence (which wasn't originally planned-- because of course not, that'd be admitting the show was actually over.) And Existence would have been it, if Gillian hadn't accepted a nice check for Season 9.

My opinion? I think Chris thought (thinks) the show will be over once they kiss-- and, to be fair, I've been catching up on a lot of fans/reviewers/reactions to famous 90s tv will-they-won't-they; and all of them concur: most people lose interest, and those shows sink in quality, after the couples finally kiss. I don't think it has to be that way, of course; but the broader audience has to become engaged again some other way, which is tricky.

Ultimately, CC signed his own death warrant because he just couldn't let the show end-- wouldn't let them pan out on one last, happy shot together-- despite many opportunities to do so. And, without another trick up his sleeve, viewership declined; and the original run of the show ended on a latent, struggling note. You could argue the same for IWTB and the Revival.

Those are my thoughts, anyway¬.

Ok considering i have sheith shippers/defenders dni in my intro post and I really dont feel like wasting my time today ill try to keep it short and wont be responding to shit like this down the line. 1) they’re brothers. Sure it’s revealed much later in the seasons, but the point is they have an incredibly strong familial relationship. If you started off shipping sheith when they weren’t explicitly defined as brothers, fine. But after their familial relationship is revealed the choice to continue shipping those two specifically comes off as strange as hell. Even stranger when you consider the multiple other available male characters that are not only more age appropriate but also dont have a familial relationship with them lmao. Also Shiro canonically gets married to a man. So the choice to continue shipping sheith has to go beyond just wanting to guys to kiss. The next common denominator? They’re both asian, so I must conclude that the need to ship them comes from that. The next next common denominator is that they’re related and some of you just have a thing for incest. But i still have faith in humanity so i wont accuse you of that even though i occasionally feel the urge to. I refuse to take “but but they have the most in show relationship development” as a reason because that just means you’re too fucking lazy to think of your own scenarios. Which is not true, because the amount of devious ass sheith shit I unfortunately stumble across means your collective neurons are actively firing away. Just for the wrong thing. You guys really saw the only real developed relationship (i use this word generally and not strictly romantically) between two guys in the show and decided that it must have romantic undertones. Beyond how its harmful to irl men and deters them from emotional maturity out of fear that any non toxic relationship between two men is automatically seen as romantic by some people, it’s just fundamentally mid yaoi because you guys cant fathom that 1) romance isn’t a core part of the show beyond allurance 2) that two guys can talk to eachother while smiling without wanting to fuck. Yall are in the same league as those guys who are addicted to step sister p0rn.

1.5) bcs i know someones gonna ask “why do you think sheith is incest”, its because shiro fulfills the kinship role of “sibling” for keith, or even “parent”. From here-on out simplified as “guardian”. Within anthropology there are numerous kinship systems which determine which family member is called what. Ex. In the hawaiian system, every male family member is called “father” and every female “mother”. No matter if they birthed you or not. In the linear (also known as esk/mo but that’s a word with heavy history) system, your parents are “mom/dad”, siblings are defined as “brother/sister”, and everyone else is “aunt/uncle” or “cousin”. This is the system commonly used in the west. Kinship systems define a lot of things, from inheritance to respect hierarchies. Another key thing they determine is incest taboo. The range of which this taboo applies differs depending on culture, which is why you’ll hear of two people, for example, cousins getting married. In the west that’s considered taboo, but it may not be in another culture. Kinship and its taboos also apply to non blood related relationships. Hence adoptive siblings, etc. And keith quite explicitly refers to shiro as his brother. Given the context of those scenes, it can be deduced that it’s not said in a way that is 1) casual, as the lingo would more likely be “sup bro” or the tone of voice would be significantly more casual, 2) indicative of anything other than a familial relationship, for if keith considered him a brother in arms he would’ve said something more along the lines up “on your feet, brother”. Keith saying “you’re like my brother” AND THEN DOUBLING DOWN TO “You’re my brother,” said in such a sincere tone of voice leaves little to be debated.

Tldr: Shiro fulfills a guardian kinship role for Keith and thus the incest taboo applies to him.

1.6) also like? It’d be weird either way. Going by their canon age diff (season 1, 25-18 = SEVEN YEARS), and considering shiro met keith in middle school, and going by the oldest middle school age (15) bcs im feeling generous, shiro wouldve still been 22. If they just met once and never again till seasom 1, fine. Ship sheith however you want. But the fact is they met and then they formed a bond when shiro was significantly older and in a position of power over keith. Shiro was a mentor and guardian to keith whether you like it or not, and he stayed that way from when keith was young and impressionable until he was an adult. Yk what thats called? Raising a child. Imagine shipping that. Crazy. Imagine a 9 year old being raised by a 17 year old babysitter bcs of his absent parents. Suddenly when the 9 year old turns 18 he starts dating his babysitter. Thats freaky as hell, and i only increased the age gap by 2 years. Literally nothing else changed.

Sometimes I read your posts and they really resonate with me.

Generally, I describe myself as submissive in bed, but I hate to call myself strictly a bottom, because I genuinely love to top guys, just in a “service top” sense. If you were to say a relationship cant be romantic, end game, and fulfilling without sex then I would fight you on the spot. I like sex. Love it even. Before I was out, people made fun of me for being a bottom because I was emotional and anxious (still am). In my first relationship, I was exclusively a top- because mainly we never did bottoming right and it always really hurt and I always really hated it. After we broke up I thought nobody would love me if I didn't learn how to bottom. I did both with whatever partners till I met Sean. After Sean and I opened things up- I met a FWB who I got to explore top and bottom with. And that was the best I had in a while.
