Alpha’s bid by @paulalestat-blog [fresh premise of the futuristic set-up: with time due to the virus, omega population withered to near extinction, and each omega is valued and sought after. an agency kinn goes to provides match-making services, where omegas are shown alpha’s profiles, and then are free to choose any alpha they deem pleasing or fit, and alpha can not back out. you know what happens next. and yes, kinn is a uni teacher in this one...? go figure. still a wip, and a very good one at that]

Smoke and Raindrops by @nuwildcat [*fanning herself* thank you, dear author, it was delicious. it is beyond me why vampire!kinn is not a huge deal in this fandom, all the signs are right there - paleness, piercing gaze, power, audacity, stature, daddy issues, etc etc, one would expect the tag to be flooded and yet, good vamp!kp fic is scarce, which makes this even more precious: traditional back alley meeting, werewolf!porsche, canon levels of horniness, delightfully wrapped in author’s eloquent style. so many kudosssssssssssss]

after dark by @foreigncars [i...am not exactly sure what i think of this one yet, some of the plot points seemed... tad abrupt, but hey, it’s a vamp!kinn, can’t be too choosy when it comes to the vamp trope, in this house we appreciate them all]

what a tangled web we weave by @fairhairedkings [has this author ever disappointed, duhhhhh, ain’t never a miss with them: scheherazade au i am sure everyone follows already, so this rec is more of an homage to the beloved author. i for once, can never have enough of “forced marriage resulting in smitten kinn” trope, can anyone, especially so well written one. all the possible kudos, as usual]

The Empty Crown by @rainbowcolored7 [such a great world-building, and the lore is superb: kittisawasds are from the fire clan that can command phoenixes, and theerapanyakuls are the water clan that are connected to dragons. when their clan’s capital is destroyed, lil porsche and chay are forced to run and hide, and spend their lives in fear of their true lineage being discovered. they are minding they own business leading ordinary folk lives, all until an idiot falls down a hill and hurts himself right in front of unsuspecting porsche, who was just trying to fish in peace. suuuuuuch a lovely read, so pleasantly paced, it keeps you fully immersed and invested, not to mention, the chemistry between the poor conflicted porsche and the injured idiot is 👌👌👌]

Fake dating

Situationship by @vcrses  [no, you don’t get it, when i say i am in luv with this fic <33333333 the author is so effortlessly funny, made me cackle multiple times, such a light and enjoyable read <33333 it is some sort of AU within an AU, as the characters we know have different backgrounds/circumstances, for instance, tankhun is not agoraphobic in this, and even some places named differently, but it doesn’t take away from the experience at all, quite the opposite, comes off as refreshing; the story overall is a perfect perfect embodiment of the trope, these versions of kp are so loveable, i am smooching this author’s face with abandon]

take this life and hold it by the hand by @p1n3appl3p3n [if i tell you i was vibrating out of my fucking skin reading this. shaking crying throwing up with giddiness and squealing like a new-born piglet. have seen this rec so many times in people’s bookmarks, and that single goddamn “mpreg” word has deterred me every time. how could have i been so foolish. one of the best fucking things i’ve read lately was hiding in plain sight this whole time. yes, mpreg, but who gives a fuck, if in return you get this..? reconciliation trope of your dreams. i am on my knees for this fic. p.s. i conveniently have an existing h/c for the twins, which despite the fact that canon pair is a boi/gurl set, is still my ironclad image for them, cause have one look at them and tell me these don’t look like porsche’s children]

Mutatis Mutandis by @zipperbiter [daaaaaamn that was <3333 during one of the quiet uneventful family breakfasts tankhun suddenly realizes that a little chaos never killed nobody, and decides to stir these calm waters up a bit by posing quite an interesting question. the bouts of... scientific experimentation... that ensue in order to conclude the experiment, are both extremely skilfully written, and entertaining to boot. very much a rec]

Wicked Game by @Acearcy01 [set in canon and divergent after ep4, someone keeps making attempts on kinn’s life, and he suggests an agreement: porsche will stay for 60 days to try and figure out who is after kinn, in exchange for his complete freedom afterwards. porsche agrees and starts counting the days. he can’t wait to leave this hellhole behind.... right?. there is something about this story.... really liked it, give it a try, if you haven’t read it already]

Burnished night, blood-soaked stars by @The_Old_Astronomer [absolutely lovely and touching missing/alternative scene between kinn getting shot and waking up at the hospital wing, feelings realization, and a bit of a porsche/big reluctant understanding]

Kinn raises an eyebrow at him, waiting for an explanation. His hand strokes gently on Porsche’s neck. Porsche smiles blandly as he takes the glass, swirls it gently around, and then tips half of it into his mouth in one go.

Kinn jerks, an aborted motion, grabbing Porsche’s wrist—but he’s too late.

He looks over at Cass, whose yet to offer an input on the conversation. With Cass being older and actually having recollected memories of their father, he knew it was probably more challenging for him to hear his brother refer to another man as their father. Bucky also knew there was a high possibility that he would be more reluctant on calling Bucky dad anytime soon, or ever, unlike his brother.

Cass and AJ weren’t even difficult children to begin with anyway, so he wasn’t worry about the end results of this weekend at all.

The other thing about Sarah is, she’s got a poltergeist.

“For the hundredth time, I’m not a poltergeist,” says Big Cass, from his usual spot perched ephemerally on the kitchen counter. “You weren’t half this mean when we were married.”

“I wasn’t half this mean when my husband’s ghost wasn’t haunting me,” Sarah huffs, kneading her dough with generally more aggression than necessary. She is alone in the house, as she usually is when he shows up; the boys are in the yard learning wooden stick swordplay with their Uncle Sam, who is doing a poor job of hiding how worried he is about Everything Else, and Bucky, who is doing a poor job of hiding how worried he is about Sam. 

“I’m not haunting you, woman, I’m here ‘cause you need some sense knocked into you.”

“Is that it?” asks Sarah. She blows flour out of her nose. Her vigour has gotten it everywhere.

“Yeah,” says Big Cass. “And you need to get laid.” Sarah squawks. “It’s a dual problem.”

She throws a fistful of flour at him. It gets everywhere except for on him, as he hasn’t got a corporeal form.

Sarah hosts a New Year’s Eve party to ring in 2025 surrounded by family and friends. It’s a fun kind of chaos, bodies packed into the Wilson family house picking at finger-foods and chattering loud enough that the chipper TV announcer can barely be heard over the din. AJ and Cass are excited to be allowed to stay up late to watch the ball drop and spend the time with Sam and Bucky, who are all too happy to indulge them rather than mingling with the other adults.

2024 was a good year. A great year, even.

Sarah is looking forward to what 2025 will bring, and she’s got an idea of how she wants to start it.

Is it bold? Yes. Presumptuous? Maybe. Will Sam have things to say about it? Surely.

But Sarah has a plan. A great plan, even. She’s been sneaking around her older brother since she was old enough to have boyfriends, and she’s not letting him get in the way of her New Year’s Kiss this year. It’s been seven long months of lingering glances and smiles between her and Bucky, flirtation that never goes past the point of plausible deniability, and Sarah is ready - has been ready - for him to make a goddamn move.

So she has a plan.

There are a few key factors to this plan: firstly, she’s invited a good friend of Sam’s, Misty Knight, to this party. Misty and Sam are obviously sweet on each other and have been for a while. Best of all, Misty is in on this little plan, and is perfectly happy to distract Sam with a New Year’s kiss of his own at midnight so that he’s distracted. Secondly, Sarah’s best friend Gina and Gina’s husband, Franklin, are going to situate themselves between Sarah and Sam right around midnight for an extra barrier. Just in case. Because Sam, despite knowing full well that Sarah is a grown adult, can’t kick the older brother habits in him and she’d like to enjoy this moment just for herself. Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, AJ and Cass are scheduled to be distracted by her good friend Shayna, who will swoop in at the perfect moment to give them New Year’s hugs.

It’s a foolproof plan, if she does say so herself.

At three minutes to midnight, Sarah enlists Bucky to help her hand out plastic champagne flutes for a New Year’s toast. She sticks close to his side as they work together, not wanting to be far enough apart that she’ll miss her moment.

“This is a great party, Sarah,” Bucky murmurs to her as they hand out the last of them with one minute to spare. God, she’ll never get tired of the way he says her name - he savours it, draws it out, grins around it like he’s pleased just to be talking to her, and it makes her heart flutter. “Thanks for inviting me.”

“You listen, Bucky,” she says, and leans a little into his space. In her peripheral vision, she watches Misty approach Sam with clear intent before it’s blocked off by Gina and Franklin stepping in the way. “There is nowhere else I’d want you to be.”

“Ten!”

“Nine!”

“I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else,” he says. She can’t be imagining the way his cheeks colour a bit, the way he takes a half step forward so that they’re nearly pressed together. She’s a tall woman, but still she has to look up at him.

“Eight!”

“Seven!”

“Sarah,” Bucky starts, then scrubs a hand over his face and huffs a soft laugh,

“Six!”

“Five!”

“I, um-”

“Four!”

“Three!”

“Two!”

“Kiss me, James” Sarah says.

“One!”

He does. He dives into her space like a man starved, grabs her by the waist and pulls her flush against his strong chest as he dips his head down to capture her lips. It’s a proper, head spinning kiss, the kind that makes the rest of the world fade away in its wake, everything narrowing down to the way his lips feel against hers, slightly chapped but truly masterful in their movements. Sarah, belatedly, wraps her arms around Bucky’s neck, mindful not to spill cold champagne down his back. He’s kissing her, really kissing her, fucking finally, and it feels so amazing that she can’t imagine doing anything else in this moment. Though she’s imagined kissing Bucky many times she didn’t expect how right it’d feel, how perfectly they’d fit together, how warm and solid and heavenly his hand would feel against her back.

When they finally break apart for air, the blush on Bucky’s cheeks is bright red, his eyes a little glazed over, focus never quite leaving her mouth. Sarah is thrilled by it, captivated by his eyes, so fucking blue that she feels she could get lost in them. Even as he raises his champagne glass to clink against hers and takes a long sip, his eyes stay focused on her.

“Happy New Year, Sarah,” he says, and even his voice sends butterflies aflutter in her stomach.

“Happy New Year, Bucky.”

Sarah doesn’t think Bucky falls into the bad category much. Domestically competent partner with heart of gold, she amends. And maybe some baggage.

Nebula’s mods can pick up the clinging scents of the abandoned party on her sister, the sweat and leather and fruity cocktail and hard tequila that Rocket calls child’s play, and something of Quill’s terrible cologne. She scowls.

No ma’am, you haven’t a drop of miss magic in you. Plain as your mama’s grits since birth. Now you’re playing secret agent and talking to a giant wolf in the middle of the dark.”
