Bitsy and Kremy are my favorite characters from each of the campaigns I’ve watched so far. I want them to be friends but also I know it would be a more boss and employee dynamic. A silly mouse and gator… my favorite. Or Ratatouille moment, she sits under his top hat and when the moment is perfect, he releases her like a hound.

Hootsie: least fun to draw (Boring shapes) (draw the least). Typically I imagine her as a horned owl owlbear so her canon “eyebrows” flatten out and connect to her neck. I just think it gives her a nice silhouette. Frost: least fun to draw (cat). I’ve been drawing him with Chinese/vaguely East Asian-inspired robes because he’s from the mountail of Yulong and you can’t just give me a place called “Yulong” and expect me NOT to go ham on the east asian inspiriation. (east asian artist here.) Gricko: don’t draw nearly enough, most fun to draw (hair). I gave him a permanent cowlick on his bangs and I think the shapes are nice. Chunks ripped out of his ears are from Hootsie when she was younger and couldn’t control her strength. Kremy: most fun to draw (lizord), draw the most, did the most reference study for. I may love to draw lizards but crocodylidae are so uniquely shaped. Scrolling back through my ouaw posts and you can see I am still getting used to it. Torbek: most inconsistent, stupid machinery doesn’t make sense. The shape of his canisters and the collar with a keyhole both are from the first time I drew him, which was without a reference, and they just. Stuck. Gideon: Big boob indulgence, stupid machinery doesn’t make sense. Drawing him with awkwardly long hair, post-trauma fat, and smile lines is my favorite passtime. His marriage rings are on a necklace because they get in the way of punching clowns. Twig (pre-death): draw the least (can’t figure out her shapes). Drawing her fractured glasses and refracted eye is my favorite time.

Briggsy: Still figuring out how to depict distinction from Kremy (gator). So far i’ve got more spikes and a thicker neck and thats about it. I’m working on it. Farryn: fun shapes! skinny L. Ever since learning how to draw body fat I’ve never gone back its actually so hard to draw skin-and-bones skinny people now. Marius: least consistent (can’t decide how curly her hair is), armor L. Yes I headcanon he/she marius do you have a problem with that? Bat-like ears because heehoo. I just realized the symbol I drew on his chestplate looks like the Horde symbol from she-ra FUCK can you tell I don’t look at references? Jericho: most fun to draw!!! (draw the most). I like to draw virgil!jericho with four-pointed-star slits instead of just orbs with pupils because I think shapes are fun. Lethica: drew her wrong for WAY too long. I hadn’t paid enough attention to her actual ref and covered up her chest initially I’m so sorry queen. shes so pretty though. Although I do think its infinitely funny to headcanon that she actually looks pretty average. Tall women my beloved. Yorgrim: least drawn, Beard + Big indulgence. No seriously I’ve only drawn him twice. Hes awesome though soft rectangular shapes ftw.

Avantris Comic Scripts #2

Often when I get ideas for comics, I break my panels into scripts first. These are less prose-y than fics but still contain dialogue and basic interactions. You seem to have enjoyed my first one, so have a few more, this one featuring my initial thoughts on "Gorebek"

Confrontation with 'the Duke' (spoilers up to ep: 56!) [A script I wrote to explore my personal headcanon about Torbek's situation; I think this would be a delightful twist that suits what Nikki and Andy might be plotting for us. Please be sure you are caught up to episode 56 to avoid any spoilers! These ideas are not confirmed just my personal favorite take~] * * * * [After another grueling battle, 'The Duke' has made himself known by taking control of Torbek's body once again. Dripping with the blood of his latest conquest, the party stands at odds with the most sane and yet somehow scariest version of their friend yet. This time, the Witchlighted to hell and back bugbear has no interest in further bloodshed and seems more inclined to take his leave. Weapons drawn, Carnivale Lecroux debate whether to fight or allow this unexpected threat to flee, knowing they could risk losing Torbek too.]

Kremy: "You're outnumbered so KINDLY get the hell out of Torbek already!" Gideon: "Ya can't just show up after somebody's been experimented on and claim that bodies your own!" "Not my own?" The Duke pauses, considering something while facing away. "Let me get this straight. Your friend. Who speaks in grunts and the third person. Can barely write his name. And you think he's the original personality?"

A hush falls over the crowd Gricko: "… In hindsight…" Frost: "…it does make a disturbing amount of sense.."

'The Duke' smirks and misty steps closer to Kremy, taunting the lizardfolk. 'The Duke': "You never could remember me, could you?" Kremy: "Now that's not true, the herri--" 'The Duke': "You just believed whatever it was I told you, it was easy enough to picture." The Alligator squints, fae magic clouding his mind. Something about what this not-Torbek is saying does make an insidious amount of sense. He grits his teeth, unable to find the lie. Kremy: "… Think I'm beginning to remember why I didn't like remembering you."

Gideon is not falling for it and he's even more incensed after seeing someone make Kremy of all people unsure about something.

Gideon: "So what. This is just 'YOU' now? You're just gonna leave and take Torbek along, just like that? He's not coming back this time?" 'The Duke' steps back again, testing how far he can push his retreat without being suspect. He stretches his arms in a gloating manner. 'The Duke': "I assure you, I have lived more in this body than 'HE' has ever forgotten." The Duke smiles cruelly, all teeth, eerily wide and full of malice. 'The Duke': "But that's right. You're the chosen heroes of the faewild, aren't you? Then ask yourselves this: are you really okay with erasing someone from existence just because you like another side of them better?"

Twig: "We are if he's a little BITCH!" Gideon gives the brownie a supportive pat with a laugh Gideon: "Well said Twig."

'The Duke': "But is that JUST?" He continues to raise his arms in a taunting manner, but it is clear he is starting to look and sound a little more harried (as anyone with sense usually is after prolonged exposure to these idiots) 'The Duke': "You think you can get him to override me? ME? The Duke of the Twilight Court??!"

Kremy sidebars with Gideon. Kremy: "We could if we got him to fall off the Herris wheel couple more times." Gideon: "Hehe yeah! Couple a hits and he'd be back to full form no problem!" Kremy: "Can't hit him too hard though, have a repeat of Chuckles." Gideon: "Nah, He ain't a clown, I don't think he'd laugh to death if we punched him in the body like Chuckles did."

'The Duke' interrupts, flustered at being ignored. 'The Duke': "ENOUGH!" 'The Duke:' THIS is the faewild; MAGIC country! Anything is possible. We'll see who the land's deem most worthy of sticking around. A distinguished aristocrat-- or a blubbering waste of flesh." Bonus panel: Internal Torbek dialogue represented in a sad thought bubble 'Gottttta say, the odddds aren't in Torbeksss favorrrrrr'

God episode 37 might just be my favorite episode of Ouaw yet, which is saying something because I have adored every single fucking ep. so far.

But there is just something about the way Nikkie went about describing Bavlorna's hut, how it was done so viscerally -especially the taxidermy room - that was equal parts deeply horrifying and deeply interesting. Add to that the secrets that the krew kept from each other, and it makes for such a dynamic session!

Kremy taking the basilisk eyes was a particular a highlight, as it acts as a good reminder that Kremy - while believing that the decisions he makes are the right ones and will benefit everyone (but mostly himself) - is willing to go behind the others backs if they disagree with him. God, just him listening to the call of gold and the echo of Mr. Garou's voice in his head instead of Gricko's, ignoring his want to put the basilisk to rest, is so fucking good! And I really hope we see some form of fall out from it later on (I'm not fully caught up yet, so please no spoilers if that happens by ep.56). Because Gricko has always pushed back against the more morally dubious actions of Kremy (and Gideon) the most, always trying for a kinder option than the two of them (mostly). And having that trust and kindness he has in those two -despite them being more willing to exploit and kill their way to the top - be betrayed in the form of preventing him from fully putting a beast to rest would make for beautiful inner party conflict.

Also the implication that Gideon is fully aware that Kremy stole the eyes (based off the way Mace reacted as Gideon to Kremy supposedly doing something kind for Gricko with seemingly no catch) but decided not to say anything is just *chefs kiss*. Crime husbands my beloved <3

Spoilers for episode 55 under the cut

You know what? I’m glad that Torbek is growing a backbone and realizing that the rest of the Krew don’t see him the same way he sees them. I mean, hell, Torbek has even stopped calling Kremy “Mr Kremy”, and has started pushing back against him (you know, the one member of the party he idolized the most).

And when Gricko (who I think is the only party member who seems to actually care about Torbek in some way) tried to diffuse the situation and said that the portraits were hag magic trying to tear the party apart, Torbek even said that it was working. Fuck man, he even said that he wasn’t exactly angry, just hurt. Especially since, as far as he’s aware, he just joined the party because they were his friends and wanted him around.

As much as I want Torbek to stay (for purely selfish reasons because I absolutely love him), I also want him to recognize that he’s just being used at this point. The party doesn’t deserve him. Not after everything they’ve put him through, and not after everything he’s done for them (past and present). And if the party doesn’t get their act together and start to recognize Torbek as an actual member of the party (and a valuable one too, considering he’s actually been steering them in the right direction and asking the right questions at the right time), then I HOPE Torbek leaves them.

Again, I (the viewer) don’t want Torbek out of the campaign because he’s my favorite character. But also I (as a storyteller) want him to leave them if they keep treating him like this. He doesn’t deserve that. They don’t deserve him.

Bloody Grin

Everybody's talking about Kremy and Gideon shipping, which I fully understand, and I do wanna make clear I agree with it as well, it's pretty damn obvious by this point Kremy's into Gideon at the very least, and while I'm not sure how Gideon feels in terms of romantic stuff, I know for a fact he wouldn't think any less of Kremy for it, shit, he'd probably just start doing flirty teases lol.

But my favorite ship is still Gricko and Bloody Toes, which I have decided to dub Bloody Grin in terms of a ship name. Perhaps it's because it doesn't get as much attention, but it's other stuff too.

How Gricko doesn't push any in terms of romantic stuff until Bloody Toes shows interest, then the whole time traversing through Bavlorna's house after that he keeps thinking about her, even more determined to catch the Lornlings than he was before because of the promise he made to her. It also helps that I love bloodthirsty characters, and ho boy is Bloody Toes that.

It's also kinda funny that Gricko's most major romantic interest thus far is somebody damn near comical in how different she is from him. Gotta love an opposites attract story.

Okay, several things:

Firstly, of course, this is fucking amazing OP.

Secondly, I can't help but find it fucking hysterical that only is there fanart of the characters, there's also fanart of the people playing them (also Mikey looks lowkey terrifying in your artstyle - though tbf he's very good at looking terrifying when he wants to)

Witchlight Polycule (Gricko/Morning Frost/Gideon/ Torbek/Kremy) has been festering my brain since the dawn of time (when I started to watch the series). My amorphous slop that consists of my brain conjured this silly idea and I keep on day dreaming about this like imagine a very silly school girl. It’s that.

I adore the mere idea of best friends that kiss on occasion, confidants that hold each other’s gazes far too long to be fully platonic, colleagues that caress the other’s cheek with such tenderness it makes anyone’s heart flutter with an unnamed emotion. Also god forbid men cuddle, I think that eats. Just non-sexual intimacy in its finest— but do they fuck nasty and sloppy even, yes absolutely there’s no doubt about it. They’re all freaks in their own right and I think they all can match eachother freakness and also one up each other actually. ☝️

Just me as the creature that I am, I get all excited, all giddy by the pure domestic bliss of it all, man. (Can you tell I’m a child of divorce.) The warmth of shared meals, shared laughter, just shared presence. I think with the time that they grown to know each other; learning the intricacies of each party member, the way that they fiddle with their fingers when they’re nervous, they way that do a little dance when their happy, just small minuscule things… I think there’s a beauty in that. A wordless agreement amongst the party, nights shared: either filled with passion, slumber, and/or comfort!! Sighhhhhh

But also, Kremy must suffer because he’s my favorite character. I think bro just doesn’t know, he’s literally that twitter post of “THE REASON IVE ALWAYS FELT SO OUTCAST IN MY FRIENDGROUP IS BC APPARENTLY THEYRE ALL IN A POLYAMOROUS RELATIONSHIP AND I DIDNT FUCKING KNOW” but bro knows but thinks he isn’t part of it.
