David Bailey (photographer): "John wasn't my friend. He was just one of the people I met all the time at Ad Lib. I remember John smoking a joint on the roof of Ad Lib with me and saying, "it. Got it. I'm on the roof of Ad Lib smoking a joint with David Bailey!" I didn't like the Beatles - I liked John. The Beatles were a boy band. All this nonsense about Paul McCartney thinking he created the sixties. The sixties had nothing to do with it! It was London that created the Beatles! It was all happening in London, and it wasn't happening in Liverpool. John was a scumbag. Paul has always been the cutest guy in the world. George, he always seemed to be overwhelmed with anxiety. Ringo always looked like Mr. Nice Guy. But John was kind of vague. I liked him."🌺
