There’s a trope that I love, and it’s creator x creation, but the creation didn’t choose the creator in the end. It doesn’t even have to be romantic, it can be a mentor and apprentice but the apprentice turned away from the person who taught them everything. Did the art become too beautiful for the artist to contain? Was the artists too afraid of their own creation that they let it go? Does the creation still feel longing for something that was never meant to be, a bond to the person who crafted it? Did they feel betrayed? Who was hurt more, in the end? The one who ran? The one who stayed to mourn the loss of what could have been theirs? Did it always have to end this way?

It's really embarrassing to admit the thing that got me back into reading was an extreme horror novella because it was written so badly I needed to find something better.

I jokingly recommend it to people though when they ask for things to read.

I swear most extreme horror literature is just about shitty things happening to women and children. Or just horror in general actually.
