Okay all my thoughts because some people have been saying that not supporting this change is not supporting artist and creators and as an artist fuck that.
1. Audiences owe you nothing. You have to convince them to engage with your creation not the other way around. This is something both the nonprofit theatre I work with recognizes and huge companies realize. It's just part of life. There are so many talented people in the world making amazing art, videos, music, writings, and on and on, and there's only so much time in the day. I'm not saying you shouldn't know your worth, just that being flippant about how little you care about those who can't pay isn't a good move. On that note...
2. PR is everything. If you haven't made a visible effort to push patreon, channel memberships or other avenues of making money, don't be suprised that your creation that was previously accessible to those without extra cash and to those who can't support foreign subscriptions due either to conversions or because it simply doesn't work, being made private isn't popular. There's a big leap from "We want to have more artistic control" to "We can't afford to make our content accessible to most of our audience," and people are smart enough to see this. You either have to make budget cuts or give into sponsors. This isn't unique to Watcher, it's part of literally every production from broadway, to Hollywood, to YouTube. Unless you can fund it yourself or get viewers to pay(which given how many are already strapped for cash...) that's life.
Not to mention they simply do not have enough followers to make the switch to a paid only site(dropping the first epsiode only on YouTube isn't going to draw people in, they're just going to say "oh why start if I'm not going to see the rest" and not watch) especially not one that is buggy and a security risk. Even if the switch had been supported its not going to end well. The only reason services like nebula and dropout work is because of the large amount of series and creators and the fact those creators still are partly on YouTube so new people are drawn in.
3. As for the price, 6 dollars a month is a not a good starting price for only their content and that's as someone who pays for nebula. I'd be paying the same amount for a fraction of the access to others work. Actually it'd be twice as much. And before someone says "it's only a coffee-" that's for you. Not everyone has your lifestyle. And with every other patreon and subscription service that says the same thing, it all adds up and I simply don't think 60 dollars for 48 videos a year on a subscription basis where you don't get to keep the videos if your situation changes, some of which don't appeal to every viewer is a good move. If you were able to buy physical copies of your favorite series they've made that'd be different, but that's not what this is.
4. I do believe that the employees deserve a livable wage. I also did not hire them. It is not on the viewers that they hired more people than they could afford to. They can charge that much if they want to to try and balance this out. They also shouldn't be suprised if not many can or will sign up. They also don't have to be based in L.A. L.A has ridiculous costs associated with it, and quite honestly it doesn't really add much to the content. I'm not saying they need to move to the middle of nowhere Kansas. Simply that living and basing your studio in a super expensive city and then being suprised money is tight is just weird.
5. Something that occurs to me is that they might get more views if their playlists were better set up. Only some series are given playlists. It'd be easier to find all of the series and binge them if they didn't just show off their more popular shows. Honestly the only draw the streaming site has to me is that the series are actually labeled well.
Do I think the weird ass energy towards Steven is necessary? No. He's not the only one at the company and they're all adults. I actually liked grocery run and homemade, and like to see them back. The parascoial attachment to Ryan and Shane is annoying in people's criticisms, but that doesn't make them completely wrong. If you're going to brand yourself as the anti capalist underdogs you can't get away with being dismissive of your poorer fans. The dissonance is what is causing this backlash and makes you look like hypocrites. I definitely think Steven is turning into the fall guy which is fucked up, his statement and the fact dish granted is one of those shows that make people uncomfortable about wealth flexs doesn't help matters.
#watcher#they really need a CEO who has business experience first and foremost or at the very least a consultant they actually listen to#they also should put more focus on other personalities and actual give them a chance to stick. none of them got famous or a fanbase in a day#give some of the others time to grab attention

SwapOut/Webcomic/Twitch PSA!
Hi everyone 👋🏻 Zk here >< or Cats, for older followers
So I've been getting back into doing SwapOut again, but I would like to appeal to everyone who reads and loves the comic. Much love to all of you who's still sticking around 🙏🏻💙 But something has also always been bothering me throughout this journey.
As many of us know, we artists do these comics for free (especially fan comics), starting them out of love and taking a LOT of time and energy out of our lives to continue making them.
And it's amazing how many of you come from translations or comic dubs on Youtube, which are also very well-done and take a lot of effort to make, much love to them too. There is a difference, however.
Monetization.
And I'm not asking for pity! I'm appealing for understanding.
Because some comic dubbers on Youtube are able to earn ad revenue from the videos they upload. From the beginning, we artists have given them the permission to dub our works. But we don't receive anything from it, nor do we usually charge them for using our art (against our better judgement).
We let them use our comic pages in their monetized videos for free. And occasionally these videos receive thousands and millions of views, which I imagine gives a decent amount of ad revenue, while the artists themselves don't usually earn anything from their own artwork, nor do we ever want to put it behind a paywall of any kind. (we like reading free comics too so don't worry x|)
... But doing full-colored comic pages for free eventually gets hard to sustain without any income from it, even more so when we need to give our time and energy to other jobs to earn money for a living instead. We legitimately keep going on our comics purely out of love. Truly, we would LOVE to do our own art for a living. There's things like Patreon but it's only feasible if we're also able to produce bonus content or show BTS, and only people willing to spend money for them can help us, and not readers who aren't able to.
And we understand that not everyone can afford to support us monetarily. And that's okay!
But if you love these comics and want to really help us to keep going, there ARE ways you can easily support us for free!
For example, affiliates on Twitch (like myself) are able to earn ad revenue very early on (they must have at least 50 followers, quite a requirement, but still easier to obtain than Youtube's 1000 subscribers).
(my Youtube, btw. not much rn but drop a subscribe?)
But simply put, if the vast majority of readers from the yt numbers visit and stay for ads on the artists' Twitch streams (remember to have adblocker disabled for the site, if any), they'll be making an actual, physical contribution to the artist themselves, at no cost whatsoever. We earn up to 55% from any ads that run on our stream, so the more viewers, the better!
(this is my twitch on average 8 viewers, with a 3 hour stream. again, the more the better!)
(ofc you can also buy subs to watch ad-free and supports me directly, but i'm typing all this to share the free ways people can support their fave creators ✨)
And even if that doesn't work out, I'd be happy enough to see most of you there 🙏🏻💙 I've been treating my streams as work, so I'm striving not to break the streak.
So drop a follow on my Twitch, and catch the streams when you can! They're great if you need company or background noise, and also great for co-working~
Currently streaming WEEKLY, Mondays, Wednesdays (SwapOut) and Saturdays, 10.30AM EST
(art by @cupcakepaints)
>> twitch.tv/zkcats <<
Anyway thanks for listening to my Ted talk, please share this around for others as well >< 🙏🏻 Artists, make this a reblog chain or something! Promo your stuff!
And apologies for the essay, I wasn't expecting to type this much sdghsgh this itself is not an ad for Twitch or whatev, I'm just a little frustrated with needing to juggle all this.
I was also considering hosting SwapOut somewhere that could get ad revenue, but I wasn't sure where until I realized I can probably earn that from my Tapas now (i think?? sdfhgh up to 70% ad revenue there but i haven't seen any yet) So maybe I'll post there a day earlier than here or something? We'll see. Go subscribe there! Check it out! Reread it! Help ME help YOU!
... Much appreciated ><
#catschats#undertale#webcomic#swapoutcomicupdate#typed this out mostly for people who aren't aware that ads support streamers etc.#im super tired now wheezee but im living

In theory I have some sympathy for jhope. He's from a group that commands a huge fanbase and has group mates that are all doing better than him by whatever metric - Jimin and JK commercially, or RM critically and even the other members have done better in general than he has. He's tried different things, strategies but nothing quite connects. He decides to try a more mainstream strategy because his more artsy ventures have fallen flat. They're doing ok but its still going nowhere special. A song gets released and then it's forgotten and that's happened twice and it's probably gonna happen twice more. Alright I can see how that sucks.
In practice I'm getting the ick though. You're world famous. You have no lack of opportunity. You're supposed to be the artistic backbone of one of the biggest groups in the world. It's kind of pathetic it just took a few attempts to fall into this self pity and decided to release some soulless bops that are somehow worse than the stuff you released before. Like push yourself. BTS made amazing music. That came from somewhere but the mediocrity that's been on display from solo era except in a few members releases is saaaad
I don't feel sorry for him because based on anything, his feelings are simply because he's comparing his success level to members who are way more popular than him and i wouldn't be surprised if he's been watching the BP girls too. He's only feeling this way because he sees other group members doing better not because he thinks he isn't doing good.
I get him because everyone wants to be the "beyonce" or "Harry styles" of the group but at the same time, and by any standards Hobi is doing better than 90% of the kpop industry and even better than a lot of major western acts.
His feelings are simply because he wants what certain members have. And like i said, I get it. He wouldn't be human if he didn't feel that way, but at the same time he's saying that like he's some nugu act, like he doesn't make more than most artists could ever dream of.
You get 3 million streams on average for each release, millions of views on YouTube, great traction on social media, Royalties from group songs, fans who would pay anything to see you live, and buy anything you put out but of course it isn't enough because he hasn't gotten 10m streams for a single song.
Do you know how many artists would kill to have sold out shows? Because that's where the real money at.
Crying for Chart success when you have all this, just looks to me like you want your ego to be stroked, nothing more. Walking into a room with your peers and knowing you have the biggest song on the charts right now must be the best feeling in the world, and that's simply what he wants.

A bit parasocial of me but whatever. I genuinely hate youtubers who quit youtube but are vague about it so that the fans keep giving them money. Why is new dream merch coming out more often than new dream videos? (Oh right, his project that is so innovative that literal nasa is emailing him about the technological advancements he's made🙄🙄 how is anyone buying that.)
Why is gnf's merch still available? That manchild hates streaming or making videos, he's never coming back to it unless he runs out of money.
Sapnap is the only guy out of those three that still does stuff, but apparently he's getting so few views that he's at the point of claiming to shit himself for more attention.
i live in a lovely world where i didnt even know dream was working on a project

Being Army Can Be Exhausting
Some Army are going to hate me for this but at this point I don’t care.
First off, I really don’t expect anyone to read this and that’s fine because I expect it.
There seem to be some very blatant rules in being Army that I feel either get misconstrued or are enfrorced with iron fist and if not followed….well are you even Army? I’ve been Army for years but sometimes we can be toxic as all get out.
This of course doesn’t apply to all Army. Get it? Got it? Good. If you’re sensitive, leave. I’m not debating or arguing with anybody.
Now, I’ve made a few notes, walk with me here:
BTS Only!
Yeah, no. I’ve been a K-pop fan for 14 years now and I’ve seen this sentiment come and go. Guess what? It never sticks. While I love BTS, they aren’t the only group to ever exist. It may feel that way to a lot of Army, it’s simply not true. You liking other groups doesn’t make me or you any less Army. Sorry not sorry.
And while I’ve only ever loved two other groups as much as BTS (honestly I don’t see that changing), I’m not cutting off an industry because of some bs If Multi Not Army rule reinforced by some.
Being a Multi is not some grand betrayal to BTS.
Buy Everything, We Must Support!
I simply can’t express how much I disagree with this! You know how many people can’t “afford” to be Army if that’s the case?
This shit is expensive lol. It’s not for the faint of heart. While I’m fortunate to be able to fund my support for them, I very much recognize that it’s not the case for everyone. BigHit drops merchandise almost on the daily! Between BTS, solo endeavors, TinyTan and BT21 our money is vanishing out of our wallets monthly.
Now have I spent a good amount of money on BTS merchandise? Yep! Official and unofficial, I sure have. Even spent a good amount of money on both my BTS tatts. Is what it is. But again, that’s a privilege I recognize. Some Army can only show their support through YouTube streams. Why? They’re free. And I’m sure BTS appreciates them all the same.
The pressure to keep up with other Army financially is enormous and even if you don’t subscribe to that way of thinking, you’ve surely seen it.
“Look at my decked out BTS themed room or apartment!”
“I bought Gucci/LV/Dior because now that BTS are brand ambassadors I have to show my support!”
Good on them but good God. Next thing you know, you’ve spent thousands of dollars trying to keep up and living on ramen packets but it’s okay because…I dunno…Army? No! Get a white T-shirt, a permanent marker, write BTS across the front and call it a day. Again, you’re just as much Army as anyone else.
They’re a Solo! Stone Them!
Shut up!
This is my biggest gripe with this fandom.
They’re a solo, so what? It doesn’t automatically mean that they hate the rest of the group. I know, I’m cool with a few of them. Not all Solos are created equal. You people have turned them on par with Satan and it’s nowhere near that serious.
Sometimes, you gel with one member and one member only. Sorry people, that’s just true for some. Nothing against the other members at all.
And yes yes, they are some extremely problematic solos out there. Not negating that. I specifically talking about the ones that aren’t.
Have I personally been called a solo? No but that’s because I rarely express my views on anything BTS because you will be attacked for it if it’s not the most positive glowing view.
Also the things I’ve seen on X, Instagram, TikTok and here have shown me some of the idiotic reasons people are labled solos. These are the reasons I see the most on my side of these platforms:
“You only post one of two members”
It’s called having biases, have we forgotten about that?
“You only buy music from one member!”
My wallet, my prerogative. I love the group’s music but not all them seperatley. Oooo I said it!
Solo music wise I regularly listen to Joonie, Jimin, Yoongi and Jungkook’s music. I don’t necessarily vibe with Hobi, Tae and Jin’s music. I don’t dislike their music, it’s just not for me. But I do buy the albums in show of support.
“You only watch content with certain members and not others!!”
This goes back to my initial point, sometimes you gel with certain members more than others. I gravitate, like we all do, to certain personalities. It’s just that simple.
There’s also burnout. I can’t watch everything because I do sometimes get sick of them! Love them to Jin’s moon and back but sometimes, I need a break. Get over it!
Live, Laugh, Love, Breathe BTS
No.
We have lives outside of BTS.
We have other interests outside of BTS.
BTS paved the way? I agree but I’m not going to get into Twitter and other social media battles over it. What’s understood doesn’t have to be explained.
BTS have lives outside of BTS. Some of you need to follow suit.
All In All
There’s a certain sub group of Army that try to make the rest of us adhere to what their definition of what Army is. It’s not cool, it’s not fair and it’s out and out toxic. Your willingness to be incredibly overbearing and toxic doesn’t make you more of a fan than the next Army member.
It goes against everything BTS stands for and some of you have lost sight of that.
And I will forever die on that hill.
And if any of these bullets hit you, do yourself a favor and make Joon proud, do better.

let's just have a honest conversation now.
why y'all like enhypen? it's the music, the choreographies? the members? think about it for one minute, just one minute. what made you like them? if it's one of the above great! so you like them, and want to see them doing great, breaking records, being recognized worldwide etc. And i have to tell you, this won't happen if you do nothing. Do you guys understand that other fandoms are getting together just to stop us from winning the votations??? There are people spamming yt comments with emojis to freeze views, we were in the leading idolchamp all the time and then other fandoms got together and started spreading rumors and lies about enhypen, now they're laughing at us. If this doesn't make you sad or mad I'm sorry but you aren't really an engene you just here for the visuals or like to listen to the group and call them the "future of kpop" "4th gen leaders" when it's convenient for your ego and pride. Romance: Untold, has the potential to be their biggest comeback but we are unable to reach the goal of views and likes on YouTube!!! (20M views, and 1,5 likes which is soooo easy to do!!!)

if you don't want stream and vote then what's your plans to make enhypen successful? bc they won't be recognized if you sit here and do nothing. just bc we won mnte doesn't mean it's over, we still have to get the 20M views on yt, we still have to win the allchart and superstarx votation, and there's the live voting on Thursday (and and if it is the same as today the chances of us winning will be very low) Not to mention that we are already out of the Spotify chart and if we keep it that way we won't re-enter.
ENGENEs there are so many ways to contribute in the success of XO. You just have to pick which way will be easier and convenient to you.
1) Stream the MV (YT);
2) Stream XO in diff. sites (Genie, Melon, Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok etc) you don't even need to listen the music, just create a playlist and let it run
3) Pre-voting for music shows; (mnet plus, allchart and superstar x.)
4) Donations;
5) buying the album; there's a chance for us to enter in second in the billboard hot200!!!
6) Using the song's in tiktok videos; &
7) Share enhypen with friends and family
we need to be a better fan base, we need to start to be greedy for enha achievements this era, if we can't continue to thrive and strive to make them better after 4 years, I don't really know what to say anymore. We need to stop saying "we'll do better next time" and can't even reach the mv goal for the first day. the 'next time' you are talking about should be this, please know your priority.
Stream harder now! Go watch the mv! Vote on the allchart and superstarx!
don't wait for miracles that won't probably happen. core and dedicated fanbase was always a key to success.

Event Marketing and YouTube Live Streams: Show the Crowd First, Then Present the Product
You're hosting a digital event maybe a product launch, maybe an insightful webinar. But when your livestream starts, the number of viewers appears too low. This can undermine the credibility of your content and prevent it from getting the attention it deserves. That’s exactly where buy YouTube live views comes into play.
A crowded livestream instantly creates the impression that “this event is gaining real interest.” Just like speaking in front of a full conference hall the more people watching, the more professional your brand looks and the more valuable your content appears. This not only attracts new viewers but also encourages current ones to stay longer.
And it doesn’t end there. A high viewer count isn’t just a visual effect YouTube’s algorithm sees it as a positive signal and starts recommending your livestream to more users. This means you're not just limited to purchased views, but also benefit from organic reach.
So, what does buy YouTube live views offer you?
Creates a strong first impression from the very first minute of your livestream
Increases trust in your event or broadcast
Helps your content get highlighted by the YouTube algorithm
Triggers curiosity among viewers by making your event look important
Enhances your brand image, making it appear more professional and authoritative
If you want your next livestream to truly stand out, reach a wider audience, and leave a lasting impression in the digital world, buy YouTube live views can give your broadcast the dynamic start it needs.
Remember sometimes people don’t just listen to what you’re saying, they pay attention to how many others are listening too. Show the crowd first, and let your content do the rest!

You said that you didn't like watching Scorpy for "reasons"... are you able to elaborate on that? I get it if not.
He just went through a phase of being weirdly aggressive about wanting to make loud noises. Like yelling into the mic so loud it creates static, that kind of stuff. Which I've heard from other RTVS people "that's just how Scorpy is" and that's fine, I guess. Let him live his truth. I'm not here to control anyone.
There's a whole generation of people 10 years younger than me that are like him and think "loud noise = funny" and I've never vibed with that. Never ever.
For one, when people do that stuff, it actually causes me pain. For two, if it stops hurting, then that's permanent hearing damage. My mother had hearing damage that as she got older rapidly went from "mild" to "severe" over the course of about ten years, and being with her for that was incredibly difficult for both of us.
She'd put the TV up to 70% because it was the only way she could hear anything, and one time I asked her to turn it down and she practically burst into tears because she knew it was a burden, she worried about it constantly, and she was even afraid the neighbors were going to start complaining. But there was nothing she could do.
In her own words, "What am I supposed to do? Just sit here in silence until I keel over dead?"
That kind of hearing damage compounds on itself. That's why it got so much worse, so fast. You damage your hearing once and now you're creeping up the volume dial just to hear normally, damaging your hearing more, and more, and more, like a multiplier.
Living with her, I bought construction site grade earplugs and wore them to bed every night. And I could still hear the TV from all the way across the apartment.
For three, I've actually had people who had to buy new phones because some kid blasted them with an extremely loud sound in a "funny" Youtube video and it actually blew out their speaker and ruined the phone.
So you're costing me money, you're costing me my health, and you're costing me my well-being.
Y'all are gonna need hearing aids before you're 50. And, for four: hearing aids are not a good fix for hearing damage. My mom actually tried multiple different types of hearing aids in the hopes they would help and she did not like a single one of them. And she's not the only one; I've read posts from at least one other person (with a listening disability, not just hearing damage) who said they went through years, decades even, of trying many many many different hearing aids, and all it did was make them tired of having to deal with it. Ultimately they decided they would rather embrace deafness than having to try yet another hearing aid, because none of them were a comfortable substitute for what normal hearing is like.
So if Scorpy is going to buy another awful Rock Band microphone, and use it to get weird and indignant and "ON THIS STREAM WE JUST MAKE LOUD SOUNDS!!! THAT'S JUST WHO I AM!!!! DEAL WITH IT OR LEAVE GRANDPA!!!!" then, yeah, I don't have to watch. So I haven't. I've cut back on just about all of my RTVS viewing as a similar result, too.
And I can all but guarantee that I will have better hearing at age 75 than Scorpy will have at age 45
Which is a bummer. I like Scorpy. He's a good entertainer. We're on very similar wavelengths sometimes. And I like RTVS as a whole. But there's always this worry I could be stepping on a landmine where somebody tries to eat their mic and the rest of the chat goes "yes they jingled the keys for me, do it again."
You only get five senses, folks. Don't willingly cripple any one of them, because once they're gone, they aren't coming back. Don't live to regret something you can't reverse.
Sorry to be the bummer, but I gotta look out for my own health.

this is unrelated to a check please au. but i keep mentally comparing the new watcher subscription thing to dropout tv, the formerly-collegehumor subscription-based platform, and its like…. i GUESS i get why watcher would think this was a good idea but dropout has a large selection of content and a wide base of performers to make it, unlike watcher which seems to have, like, three main guys
Yeah, that's the thing- I think they view it as "well we have several shows, so that means we have enough to be a full network and be a full streaming service" but that's just not how consumers view things.
Consumers see "this is one youtube channel- I might like Ghost Files and Mystery Files and Puppet History, and maybe even some of their other lower-performing shows, but this is still just one channel, this isn't worth paying for a whole new streaming service, I'm so sick of subscriptions for absolutely everything"
and people in these kinds of companies love to be like "this is like buying one cup of coffee every month, everyone can afford this" but the thing is that one cup of coffee multiplies really quickly when every company in the world wants you to pay for that one cup of coffee. Not to mention that $6 is a lot if you're working for the US federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, or if you live in a country where $6USD is objectively a lot of money. I mean even here in Chicago, with a relatively high cost of living, $6 isn't trivial to me

This is where YouTube live stream views come into play, helping your broadcasts stand out and attract more organic traffic.
Why Are YouTube Live Stream Views Important?
Increased Visibility: Streams with higher view counts are more likely to appear on YouTube's Recommended and Trending sections.

How Do YouTube Live Stream Views Work?

More Engagement: A higher number of viewers encourages more comments, likes, and interaction.

Discover YouTube’s “Hidden” Traffic Sources: Gain More Visibility with Buy YouTube Likes!
Do you think your YouTube views only come from search results or recommended videos? In fact, features like the Community tab, polls, and live chats also offer great opportunities to grow your channel. However, if your likes and overall engagement in these areas are insufficient, YouTube’s algorithm may push your content to the background.
So how can you take advantage of these “hidden” traffic sources?
Focus on Community Posts: Engage viewers with polls, announcements, and interactive posts to spark interest.
Stay Active in Live Chats: During live streams, chat with your viewers, answer their questions, and keep the conversation going.
Support Your Videos with Buy YouTube Likes: Rapidly increase your like count and show more people that “This content is awesome!”
When your videos have a high number of likes, they become more appealing in the eyes of the YouTube algorithm, helping them stand out across different traffic channels. As a result, viewers can easily discover your videos even through these “hidden” sources and are more likely to subscribe to your channel.
If you want to get noticed on YouTube and attract views from various traffic channels, use Buy YouTube Likes to make your videos stand out and grow your channel faster!

in retrospective, it makes a lot of sense that LO would be a daddy's girl who lives off his money and is on disability. of course, there is nothing shameful about being on disability and being on that doesn't garantee that you'll never struggle with money either, but it explains a lot about LO that she always had a safety net right under her.
she doesn't do any of the things other youtubers have to in order to make it by the end of the month. that is, those that do live entirely by their own or sometimes have to be the providers for their families rather than the ones who are provided.
she doesn't do any sponsors. she doesn't sell merch. she doesn't do collabs with other bigger channels. her streams barely have any viewers. it's not like she's an artists who does commissions on the side or an editor for someone else channel or someone who has any kind of job outside of youtube.
most youtubers have to make those things, they have no other choice if they want to survive. it's not a matter of them aiming to be rich or buy a mansion, most of them just want to get by, to just afford a normal life.
meanwhile her channel has been stagnant for years, she hasn't gained many new subscribers and currently her views are plummeting to the ground. and yet besides complaining about "i have to get this video done", LO has been for the most part unbothered by a situation that would have a majority of people in the stress of their lives.
before we could all just assume that she never expressed her true feelings out of pure stubborness, of a sense of pride that could even be understandable.
but no. the whole time it turns out that she had a safety net to rely on any time she wanted, no matter how bad things got.
