returning from college for break and jungkook loves winning the battle - especially when you thought you could forget about him... @junecat18 @tatyhend @mother2monsters @darkuni63 @sweetempathprunetree @momnomnom @yoongiwantsme @chimmisbae @whipwhoops @prettyxxxplease @shameless-army

series masterlist | part 1 | part 2
It’s been a year, Jungkook notes. A year since he saw you - as insane as it was. You were only three hours away from him, and yet you made yourself unavailable for him.
It’s been a year since you returned home for any holiday - and when you had, decided to remain with your mother regardless of what your father thought.
It’s been a year since you and Jungkook have been together and he could not fathom as to why you wouldn’t bother to answer any of his calls and only opted to dry messages.
You refused to see him when Jungkook drove the three hours to your college in an attempt to see you just once - even if it meant that there was no sex. Jungkook loves you but his love was slowly turning to loath; utter detest.
You were ignoring Jungkook, completely refusing to see him. You made new friends and joined clubs at your colleges. You went to parties and shared your college life on social media that he followed sullenly. If he wasn’t watching it, he was hearing it when he returned home by your father and his mother.
“Y/N’s doing amazing in school.” his mother gushed about your amazing grades. “She’s made so many friends, too.”
What made Jungkook’s blood boil and his senses highten was when your father said: “Y/N introduced me to her boyfriend over the phone. He seems to be a nice guy for her.”
Boyfriend?
Boyfriend.
Boyfriend.
Boyfriend.
You have a boyfriend and it only took Jungkook five minutes to find him. You never posted him, but yet again, you restricted Jungkook from witnessing certain things when it came to social media. You understood that posting your boyfriend where he could see would only provoke him, so you didn’t.
That didn’t mean the “boyfriend” never posted you - and he did frequently. You were in his bio, his story, all over his profile - it drove Jungkook sick. The fact that you had a boyfriend and you didn’t tell him; he was disgusted.
You and Jungkook were family - he loves you!
Jungkook was there for important events in your life and the fact that you would go off to college and try to forget about his existence told him that you never loved him. Even after he loved you enough to pleasure you countless times; to assure that your needs came before his own.
Slowly, Jungkook was beginning to hate you. He would always love you - you were his sister, after all, however, he hated you as a person. He watched sullenly as your boyfriend continued to post sweet messages of you and him all over social media; the pictures and short videos of you and him laughing and smiling. The cheap gifts he’d buy you that would only warm your pathetic heart because back home, no one ever had.
It appears that you went to college and became an entirely different person; one Jungkook didn’t recognize and he made it his mission to humble you when you returned.
Jungkook’s wish was becoming true after months of forming his own plan. The only way for you to return home from college at the same time as Jungkook was for him to do the same as you were doing him; ignore you. He stopped himself from calling you and would only result in texting. He never watched any of your stories you’d post and began posting his own with Luna - sadly just a pawn in his plan.
Luna was beautiful, you thought, and you were glad Jungkook found a person for him white he was in college. Her hair sat above her shoulders in waves and her eyes showed nothing but love whenever she looked at Jungkook. It was the reason you began showcasing your own boyfriend - Jungkook had found someone, and so had you.
“You should come for winter break, Y/N. Jungkook is bringing his girlfriend.” your father had told you over the phone, exactly a week before break. He pleaded with you, stating that he had not seen you in so long.
And now Jungkook had you where he wanted you. You had agreed to come along because, in your eyes, there was no threat. There wasn’t going to be any awkward encounters with Jungkook because he had Luna, and you had Jae. You were happy for Jungkook and even had texted him happily stating that you couldn’t wait to see him and be introduced to Luna - something he couldn’t say the same for upon meeting Jae.
As the time came, Jungkook’s hatred for you couldn’t last long because he did love you. You looked happy, he notes as you stroll through the door. Your smile is wide and it reaches your eyes. Nothing much has changed from the last time he saw you in person a year prior besides the fact that you had someone walking directly beside you.
Jungkook hated Jae. The man is tall - as tall as he was - and had dark brown hair that appeared to be freshly cut and styled, as if he was trying to one up him. His demeanor and overall look was relaxed and cool and when he introduced himself to Jungkook as your boyfriend, it took everything in him to not laugh in the man's face.
Dinner had come and went and it looked as though you and Luna were hitting it off great. You asked questions that Jungkook didn’t care to ask Jae - like how Luna and he met, how long they had been together and what college life was like. It’s a shame you were starting to like Luna and Jungkook together - even more ashamed he couldn’t say the same for Jae.
“I’ll wash the dishes.” Jungkook says aloud, lightly patting Luna’s thigh. “You can sit in here with them.” he tells her, tone low.
Jungkook exits the living area and begins to do as he said he was, his mind on the way Jae sat so close to you and speaks fondly of his time with you in college. He’s scrubbing the dishes so hard that he doesn’t realize the footsteps coming directly behind him.
“Are you okay?”
Jungkook blinks a few times to register the voice.
“Kook?”
“Yes?” Jungkook turns his head to look at you. You’re standing a few feet away from him, leaning against the counter.
“You were scrubbing hard.” you try to joke. “Is something on your mind.”
Yes. “No.” Jungkook snickers, rinsing off the plates.
“Want some help?” you ask after a few moments of silence.
Jungkook shrugs his shoulders, continuing to wash the dishes and place them on the rack. You begin to dry them, eyes glancing at Jungkook every so often.
“Is everything okay?” you question. You couldn’t help but feel Jungkook be distant the entire time. “You seem…”
Jungkook waits for you to respond, and when you do he wants to laugh.
“Distant. As if your mind isn’t really here.”
“You would know about being distant, I suppose.” Jungkook murmurs.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“It means you went to college and started ignoring me, Y/N.” Jungkook hisses. He hurls a glass cup onto the rack without caring if it slipped off or not.
“I thought we got through that.” you swallow, picking up the glass to dry it. You glance to the sliding door where the kitchen is separate from the sitting room. It’s slightly cracked and you can hear muffled voices.
“I didn’t mean to hurt you, if that’s what you’re feeling, Kook.” you sigh. “I…didn’t want anything to happen.”
Jungkook knows what you’re speaking about. You’re trying to say it without revealing any secrets.
Jungkook turns off the water to turn to you. “Anything like what?” he questions. “Like me fucking you?”
Your eyes widen and your hand clenched onto the towel. “Jungkook.” you hiss low. ”Stop.”
“Like what, Y/N? Me eating you out?” he scoffs. “Something like that?” “Don’t do this now.” you tell him while throwing the towel onto the counter. “I’m here with Jae and you’re here with Luna.”
Jungkook scoffs. “Is that the reason why you haven’t been back in a year? Because you have Jae?” Jungkook speaks his name with such disdain. “You ignore my calls and refuse to see me because of a boy you just met when I’ve been here for you for years?!”
Jungkook doesn’t mean to make his voice louder. He doesn’t want to draw any attention to the two of you, but he cannot help the way he feels at this moment.
Your eyes glance to the crack in the sliding door to see that no one has noticed you or Jungkook.
“Yes, Jungkook.” you shrug your shoulders. “I ignored you because I had Jae.” you admit. “I ignored you because I had a life that wasn’t you. I have friends. I go to parties and I have fun. I do everything that you’ve been doing.” you shrug your shoulders once more.
“I’ve never ignored you.” Jungkook spits. “At the end of the day, you’re still my sister-”
“Step-sister.” you interrupted. “Don’t act like the caring brother now, Kook.” you scoff. “I didn’t want to come back and face you. I thought things were different but obviously they’re exactly the same.”
Jungkook’s jaw clenches at your words.
“Maybe I should just cut this trip short-” “Shut up, Y/N.” Jungkook snaps. He hasn’t done it in years, since the two of you were 12. He mushes your face entirely away, an act he did because he knew it pissed you off. “You’re such a bitch, you know that? You use me-”
“Use you?!” you hissed low in an attempt to keep the conversation between you and Jungkook. “I never needed you for anything!”
“Oh?” Jungkook scoffs. “You didn’t have a problem when I was making you cum. You didn’t have a problem-”
“Fuck. You.” you snap, every ounce of venom in your soul coming out with just two words.
“Already did.” Jungkook shrugs. “I’m sure you didn’t forget. Tell me, Y/N. Did you use what I taught you on him?”
You turn on your heels and make your way towards the sliding door. “I’m leaving.”
“Where are you going?” Jungkook isn’t phased by your words.
“Back to campus.” you turn to him, your hand on the door. “I don’t want to be around you anymore.”
“Stop being selfish for once, Y/N. Think about your father and what you’d be doing by leaving again.” Jungkook crosses his arms. “Typical of you to keep thinking about yourself instead of others.”
Your nails dig into the door as your eyes bore into Jungkook’s. You grit your teeth. Jungkook had a point - you didn’t want to leave your father. He had missed you dearly and having you and Jungkook in the home again was causing him great joy.
It was Jungkook you didn’t want to be around. There were reasons as to why you chose to ignore him while in college - you couldn’t feed into what the two of you were doing any longer. You had to be the one to end it before it got too much; and it had. Jungkook had grown territorial and slowly despised you for it.
“Exactly.” Jungkook's lips display a smile on them, one that didn’t reach his eyes. “I missed you, Y/N. I missed us. Doesn’t this feel like old times?”
Jungkook strolls closer to you, uncrossing his arms. His hand places itself onto the sliding door and slowly begins to open it. It’s only open a bit wider, but you can hear the conversation from those behind it. Luna and Jae are talking about college while your parents spoke amongst one another.
Jungkook stands directly behind you. “I love you, Y/N. You know that right?” he asks you. “You do, even if you refuse to admit it. But just because I love you doesn’t mean anything.”
“What do you mean?” you ask, slightly turning your head.
“It means,” Jungkook’s hand on the sliding door places itself onto your shoulder. “I don’t have a problem telling your boyfriend just how much you and I love each other.”
Your heart drops at Jungkook’s words.
Jungkook hums at your silence. It meant that now you were taking him serious. “Good.” Jungkook speaks. He lowers his head slightly to place his lips on your cheek and kisses it gently. “It’s nice to see you again, Y/N.” he says before taking a step back and sliding the door open.
“I don’t mind sleeping out here, really.” Jae shakes his head with a smile. “I was actually expecting to stay at a hotel, so this is great.”
You take a deep breath and roll your eyes. “I’m an adult.” you say aloud, eyes glancing at your father. “I’m old enough to have my boyfriend in my room.” you grumble.
“I’ll keep your boyfriend company, sis.” Jungkook says, laying across the large couch. He offers you a smile. “Luna’s going to be sleeping in my room.”
“See, baby. It’s fair.” Jae murmurs towards you. “It’s only for a few days before I have to go meet with my parents.”
You cross your arms, not fully convinced.
You were an adult and if you wanted to have your boyfriend in your room with you while you two slept, you could. Having him sleep in the living area was just childish.
Not only that, but having Jungkook in there with him made you nervous. You couldn’t trust Jungkook and Jae alone - you couldn’t trust what Jungkook would do or say to him.
“See, no one’s complaining.” your dad claps his hands. He wasn’t going to risk anything happening under his roof with 4 young and hormonal young adults. “I’m going to bed.” your father makes his way towards you and wraps you in an embrace. “Good night, my love. It’s good to have you back.” he says, kissing your forehead.
“Night.” you sigh in defeat, offering a loose hug to your father.
Your father retreats to his bedroom and you linger slightly in the living area. Jungkook and Luna are speaking to one another, his arm around her waist as he murmurs in her ear. She’s smiling and giggling, her cheeks a rosy color and you want to gag at the sight - and roll your eyes.
Fuck Jungkook, you think. He was put on this earth to annoy you, and not only that; but to assure that you would constantly be looking over your shoulder. Your heart is filled with sorrow and regret for what you’ve done with Jungkook.
“I’m gonna go to bed early.” you sigh to Jae, offering a small smile. You wrap your arms around his neck. “Thank you for coming here with me.”
“No problem.” Jae murmurs, grasping your waist to bring you closer to him. “I wish you could come with me to meet my parents.”
You did, as well. But you promised your father you would remain for a week - and the last thing you needed was to provoke Jungkook when he had something dingling above your head.
“I will next time. I promise.” you press your lips against his. “Good.” you kiss him once more. “Night.”
Jungkook’s eyes meet yours as you walk down the hall to your bedroom and a humorless scoff releases from his throat.
“I should probably be heading to bed, too.” Luna says, kissing his cheek. Jungkook blinks to come back to reality and slowly, he nods his head.
“Good night.” Jungkook murmurs, kissing Luna’s lips. “I’ll see you in the morning, yeah?”
Luna nods her head.
Jungkook makes himself comfortable, lifting his blanket to his chest and laying upon the pillows of the couch. He swallows, finding the way Jae is tossing and turning to be a complete nuisance.
“Jung…Kook?”
Jungkook blinks in the dim living area. He contemplates ignoring Jae and pretending to be asleep, but curiosity gets to him.
“Yes?”
Jae releases a sigh. “I really like Y/N.” Jae says nervously.
Jungkook licks his lips and hides a scoff. “Yeah?” is all he responds with.
“Yeah.” Jae murmurs. “I think I want to marry her.”
Jungkook scoffs. “You haven’t been with her for long.” Jungkook speaks, the words coming from Jae’s mouth sounding utterly ridiculous.
“I know.” Jae chuckles. “But, I really do like Y/N. She makes me happy.”
Jungkook’s foot begins to shake, Jae’s words replaying in his mind and without thinking, he says: “You sound pussy whipped.”
Jae is silent and for a moment, Jungkook ponders if he was ignoring him. Not as if he cared - nothing Jae was something he took seriously. Jae didn’t know you like he did; he just knew what you showed him. Jungkook knows the real you - the you in the morning, you when you were on your period or the you when you were sad, hungry, happy; everything. Jungkook knows the real you, not Jae or any other man you’d ever bring around.
“Y/N and I never…yeah.” Jae’s cheeks are hot when he responds. Jungkook and you are siblings and he doesn’t want to talk about this with your brother.
Jungkook’s ear perks at Jae’s words. “I see…” he trails off. “Do you see a future with my sister?”
“Yes.” Jae responds without missing a beat.
Jungkook’s foot shakes harder beneath the blanket. “Good luck to you then.” is all Jungkook says before placing his hands behind his head, eyes staring into the dark room.
Jungkook’s mind is caught in his own thoughts that he doesn’t realize how time has gone by - three hours. Jae has long since gone to sleep, snoring slightly. The home itself is quiet and he’s sure everyone has long since fallen asleep.
Jungkook couldn’t bring himself to. His mind is wandering with Jae’s words and your actions. It was obvious that Jae was smitten with you and you him. If given the chance, you’d be with Jae and forget about him entirely, and that was something he didn’t want.
Jungkook lifts himself up from the couch and slowly saunters down the familiar hall. All of the room doors are shut, including his own. He twists the door knob to his room and opens it slightly. Luna is asleep, lying on her back with her arms above her head. Her chest rises and falls slightly in rhythm.
Gently, Jungkook closes the door behind him and goes down the hall a bit more to your own room. He turns the knob to your door and opens it. You're lying on your side and unmoved. “I know you’re awake.” Jungkook speaks to you, entering your room and closing it behind him.
“I know how you sleep, sis.”
“Stop calling me that.” you respond to Jungkook. “What do you want, Kook?”
Jungkook comes closer to your figure. “Jae was speaking to me a while ago.”
You feel a shift on your bed and know that Jungkook’s getting onto it.
“Says he sees a future with you.”
Jungkook embraces you from behind and presses himself firmly against you.
“I won’t let that happen, Y/N.”
“Get off of me.” You squirm in Jungkook’s embrace, but he doesn’t let up.
“No.” Jungkook murmurs. “I won’t let you be happy with someone else. That means you’ll go back to forgetting about me.”
“Get off-”
Jungkook’s hands grip at your exposed skin - you’re not wearing much for bed. It’s been long since he’s touched you and at the act, goosebumps erupt on the skin of his arm.
“Your little boyfriend told me that he’s never touched you.” Jungkook murmurs, voice so deep and breath tickling the skin on your neck. “The way you’re allowing me to touch you tells me that it’s true.”
Jungkook’s hand glides up your sides and places itself onto your breast. He squeezes it, breathing increasing. “When was the last time you came, sis? Was it from me or did you have to pleasure yourself because he can’t?”
You swallow the lump in your throat. Your mind is screaming at you to fight against Jungkook and his wandering hands.
“Kook,” you say, voice meek and low. “please stop.”
Jungkook doesn’t stop. Instead, he begins to grind against you. It’s been so long since he felt your body against his.
“Answer me.” Jungkook exhales. “I know he isn’t touching you and you must be so starved. So needy.”
Your moans are music to his ears and said moans catches you off guard.
“We can’t do this anymore.”
“Why not?” Jungkook questions. “You’re not fighting me off of you. You want this.”
Jungkook forces you to turn towards him. His lips lightly graze your own.
“Tell me you want this, Y/N.” Jungkook commands.
You shake your head. “We can’t.”
“Why not?” Jungkook hisses. He’s so close, you note, and he could kiss you at any moment. “You meet someone else and don’t love me anymore.” he states matter-of-factly.
You release a sigh. “You sound crazy.” you respond meekly. “I’ll always love you. You’re my step-brother, after all.”
Jungkook scoffs. “Then why’d you refuse to see me in a year?” he asks, unable to get over the actions you’ve committed. “Why didn’t you call me?”
You swallow, glancing away from Jungkook. He wasn’t going to get over this and a part of you felt like it was your fault. Maybe if you would’ve told Jungkook that things couldn’t be the same then he would’ve taken it lightly.
Yet, you couldn’t dwell on what if’s and what you should’ve done - not when Jungkook held the past over your head.
“I’m sorry.” you murmur, defeated. “I didn’t know it’d hurt you this much.” you admitted.
Jungkook closes his eyes and releases a sigh. “I’ll forgive you this once.” he mumbles, a low smirk forming onto his lip. It’s a saying he’d say often when it comes to you - the first time being when you blamed him for breaking one of your father’s limited edition figurines. It then became a saying between the both of you, even for the littlest things that wasn’t worth truly being angry over.
You’re quiet, as is Jungkook. You’re unsure what to say or do next - it’s obvious that he had no intentions of leaving your room, but you also didn’t want him to stay any longer than he needed to.
You take a deep breath, your hands gliding up to Jungkook’s chest to push him away from you. “You should go.” you say to him.
“Hm.” Jungkook hums, his chest vibrating underneath your palms. “Why?”
You know why, is what you want to respond with. It’s an obvious reason - you shouldn’t be here with him; or ever caught in this position.
“We use to do this all the time-”
“As kids.” you deadpan, your annoyance rising. Jungkook feigns ignorance all the time and you were growing tired of it.
“I’ll leave if,” Jungkook wraps his own hand around your wrist. “we can just be together one last time. Like the old times.”
“Kook,” you shake your head with a sigh, but Jungkook’s grip on your wrist only tighten.
“Just one last time.” Jungkook murmurs. He pulls you closer to him and presses his lips against your forehead. “Tonight, it can be about you and me. And tomorrow,” he kisses down your forehead to your cheek then your jaw. “you can go back to your boyfriend and I’ll go back with Luna.”
You release a shaky breath when Jungkook’s hand releases your wrist to grip your waist. “Don’t you like Luna enough to not do this?”
Jungkook scoffs to himself. No, he thinks. He likes Luna, but he loves you - and that was the difference. Luna was beautiful and her likes her - she’s smart and an amazing girl to be around. But his love for you outweighed whatever he felt for her, and to him, it should be the same for Jae. He could never love another girl when you should be his first one.
“Just tonight, Y/N.” Jungkook pushes you closer to him, forcing your leg around his waist. “Then I’ll let you go back to Jae and enjoy your college life. You don’t have to ignore me anymore because I won’t pursue you.”
Jungkook’s lips are kissing along your neck now. Your body stiffens, the hairs on your skin standing all at once.
Your body is betraying you - this isn’t what you wanted. However, your mouth doesn’t move to speak to demand Jungkook to stop. His hands lower slowly - so slow as if to taunt you - to your ass. He grips it in the palm of his hands, hissing against your neck.
“You missed the way I touch you, Y/N. I know you did.” Jungkook declares in a hushed whisper. “You haven’t cum good in so long, who better than to do it but me?”
Warm and wet, Jungkook’s tongue slides along the nape of your neck.
“Do you and Jae do this? Does he touch you like I do?” Jungkook questions, adjusting himself so that he’s on top of you. You didn’t say no, he notes, nor are you any longer pushing him away.
“No…”
Jungkook knows how you get when you’re in bed; how humid it can be beneath your covers. He understands how little you dress for bed, and just how easy it is for him to have you naked in no time.
“He doesn’t kiss you the way I am now?” Jungkook’s lips send wet kisses down your neck to your collarbone. He’s teasing you, noticing your shaky breathing.
“N-No…” your mind is screaming at you to push Jungkook away. Be adamant and stern - tell him that you didn’t want this and that this wasn’t fair to the both of you or to Jae and Luna.
“Then it should be okay for me to, right?” Jungkook reaches your breast, his eyes darting up at you. “I can leave all the marks I want because it’s not like he’d see…”
You feel your shirt being lifted upward. “You want this, don’t you, Y/N?” Jungkook murmurs, the cool air of your room slicing against your skin. “You haven’t told me to stop yet.”
It’s been so long since he’s seen your naked body in person and all he truly has close to it is the videos you and he took. His mouth begins to salivate and he wastes no time in wrapping a tongue around your nipple and his hand aggressively gripping the free one.
“Jungkook-!” you try your hardest not to be too loud - these walls weren’t as thin, but after your year celibacy, you’re unsure how you’d react to him.
“‘missed you so much.” Jungkook confessed muffledly.
This is wrong, you think. You put a stop to this for a year - you told yourself that you couldn’t go back to this.
This wasn’t fair to Jae; to Luna.
But you couldn’t bring yourself to tell Jungkook to stop. Your mind and your body were going against one another. Was it wrong? Yes, and you were going to hate yourself for allowing Jungkook access to your body once more.
But you loved it - every moment of it. You loved how needy Jungkook was for you; how his tongue would suck and lightly, his teeth would tug onto your nipples. You adored the way he would grind into you hastily and his hand would grip your breast.
“I missed you, too.” you moan at, hips buckling with Jungkook’s. He knew that he had you where you both wanted to be - with one another.
Of course you missed him - being away for so long with no pleasure. What was Jae good for if he wasn’t doing anything for you?
This is why Jungkook took your lack of sexual journey for the last year to his advantage - he could leave whatever marks on you that he desired because it wasn’t like anyone was going to see.
Jungkook doesn’t stop suckling on your breast until they’re both littered with bite marks and purplish hickies - but even then, he wasn’t done. He had to taste you; not having you on his tongue for so long drove him crazy.
“I’m gonna eat you out.” Jungkook says, his fingers hooking on your shorts. “And you’re gonna cum on my tongue, okay?”
You could only nod, defeated. When your high came down, you were going to look back ashamed on being such a whore and allowing Jungkook in.
Jungkook kisses down your stomach to prepare you - and himself - for this. He throws your shorts and panties aside without a care and pushes your legs apart.
“Such a pretty pussy.” Jungkook admires, speaking to himself more than anything. He doesn’t hesitate in diving in, fully devouring you as if this was his last meal - and in a way it was.
Jungkook hooks your thighs apart, holding them in a firm grasp to assure you cannot squirm away from him. He lays his tongue flat against your clit, head bobbing side to side rapidly.
Your back arches in shock with the new pleasure, your teeth harshly biting your lips to not expose yourself.
Your thighs quiver to be released, but Jungkook is stronger than you. His tongue dips between your folds and circles around your slit, fully teasing and edging you on.
“Kook, please…” you moan low, blinking away from Jungkook.
“Stop being so silent.” Jungkook scoffs, eyes flicking up to you. His tongue continues to suckle on your bulging clit.
“Do you want us to get caught?!” you hiss, slamming your head back against the pillow and releasing a moan, a bit higher than the rest. Your hand finds his hair and you grip it tightly.
Jungkook allows you to guide him and take control of your pleasure. Your hips buckle as you grind against his tongue, your body trembling with ecstasy.
“F-Feels so good…”
You’re going to hate yourself later, but now - now you wanted to cum after having not in so long.
Jungkook knows your body more than anyone. He enters his fingers inside of you and begins to pump, encouraging you to cum right on his tongue like he intended you to.
Your pussy’s so tight, Jungkook groans. So tight and ready to be fucked full - Jae was a fool to not take you because that only made your pussy crave him more.
Jungkook pumps his fingers with might, your pussy dripping onto his wrist. Your hand no clasps itself onto your mouth to prevent any unwarranted moans.
“I wish you could see how slutty you look now.”
Jungkook leans away to admire your quivering form beneath him, slamming his fingers even deeper inside of you. They scrape against your walls heavenly, so much so that you could barely manage to keep your eyes open.
“You ignored me for so long just to come back to me. Knew you’d never find anyone better, huh?”
Jungkook places a thumb against your clit and circles it.
“You ignored me because you knew how much you truly wanted me. A slut like you could never leave her legs close around me.”
Jungkook’s breathing increased and he shook his head. “Get up.” he removes his fingers from inside of you. “I can’t fuck you how I want to in here.”
Your eyes snap open at the loss and you blink. “W-Where-”
“Car.” is all Jungkook says before removing himself from you and going to pass you your discarded clothing. “If this is going to be our last time, I’m not holding back.”
It shouldn’t have, but your pussy clenches with anticipation.
This was yet another moment given to you to deny Jungkook - but you haven’t. Instead, you followed closely behind him as the two of you sneaked out of the home and around back to where his car sat. The night is dark and stateless, and his car is completely dark as you enter. He turns it on and turns on the heat as it warms.
“Back seat.” Jungkook demands, closing the driver seat door as he climbs to the back. “Take off your clothes.”
Jungkook doesn’t want to waste any unnecessary time - a year was long enough. He’s doing the same as you, removing useless clothing if it meant that he could be inside of you quicker.
“This is our last time.” you say, removing your clothing - your coat, sweats and shirt all discarded to the side. “Then we can never do this again.”
“Sure.” is all Jungkook says, glancing at your face.
You swing your leg around to sit onto his lap. “I’m serious, Kook-”
Jungkook’s palm slams into your face and once more - like before in the kitchen - he mushes your face back. “I heard you the first time, sis. You can go back to your lame boyfriend tomorrow.”
“Fuck-”
“-You. I will.” Jungkook centers his cock at your entrance and lightly taps it. “Still on birth control?”
You nod your head with a bite of your lip.
“Good.” Jungkook says, slowly entering you. His hands place themselves on your hips as he allows you to adjust to his size.
You’re squeezing around Jungkook so tightly and not even intentionally. Your eyes begin to roll just as you begin to grind against him, your hands wrapping around his neck.
“Shiiit.” Jungkook grunts.
You were needy, Jungkook thinks. You needed this - if not, you wouldn’t have been fucking yourself as if you did. Your feet are planted directly onto his set as you rise and fall against him, your moans of pleasure no longer needing to hide.
“You missed being fuck, didn’t you?” Jungkook’s cocky, but why wouldn’t he be? He had you where he wanted you - creaming his cock while your boyfriend laid sleep not far away.
Jungkook’s hand roams your naked body, unsure where he wants to lay them. Your breast bounces in his face, as if taunting him to suck on them even more.
“S-Shut up.” you whimper, your nails digging into the skin of his neck. Your forehead leans against his.
“Feels good?” Jungkook asks rhetorically. “Come,” Jungkook presses his lips against yours and his hands onto your hips. He begins to thrust upwards into you, meeting your own thrusts. “gonna fuck you all night.”
Your lips press back onto Jungkook’s, completely lost in the immorality. As much as your mind wanted to fight against it, your body refused. Jungkook was the only man you’ve been with sexually so far, and the only one that could satiate the hunger you felt.
The kisses become sloppy; needy. Neither of you want to stop, lust filling both bodies to the brim.
There’s a never ending urge inside of Jungkook, an urge he never wants to complete if he meant he could always be inside of you. He flips you onto your back, crashing you against the cool seats of his car.
Jungkook begins to fuck deeper inside of you, uncaring about how aggressive the car begins to rock.
A year.
A year since Jungkook got to cum inside of you. A year since he felt your walls wrapped around him so heavenly and your moans enticing him beautifully.
A year since Jungkook got to be around you - the longest he’s gone without you since he was a child.
Jungkook’s breathing increases as his hooded eyes look down at your figure. So beautiful, he ponders. So beautiful that it’s shameful that he is forced to give you to another man that could never love you as much as he could.
Jungkook wouldn’t allow it - not caring if you choose to hate him for the time being. He wouldn’t allow you to settle for second best.
“All mine,” Jungkook groans, capturing your lips with his own. His cock plunges in and out of you at an unbearable speed. “only mine.”
Your arms embrace Jungkook to keep him closer to you.
“Say it, Y/N. Say you’re mine.” Jungkook grumbles, dark eyes boring into yours.
“You know I love you, Kookie.” you respond softly with a small smile onto your lips. “No need to get territorial.”
Jungkook groans. There was an absolute need - because eventually, you would try to find another man that didn’t love you enough and he wouldn’t allow you to.
“I can be all yours for tonight.” you press your lips against his with each passing word. “Just you and me.”
It’s exactly what Jungkook needed to hear; a confirmation. You were his - even if just for tonight - you were all his and for the entirety of the night right before the sun rose, you and he had continued as the gas wasted away
. Jungkook has cum inside of you an insane amount that if you weren’t on birth control there would be no doubt that you’d fall pregnant. He fucks you as many times as you’d let him - on your back, on your chest, between the driver and passenger seat.
Jungkook had no intention of this being your last night with him.
“What are you doing?” you ask Jae once you emerge from the bathroom. Three days had gone by so far and Jae wasn’t set to leave for another day.
Jae turns towards you with a hard stare that has you halting in your tracks.
“Jae-” you reach out for him and he jerks away from you.
“I have to go.” Jae murmurs with a shake of his head. “I-I…”
Jungkook watches from the kitchen, sliding door cracked. He takes a sip of his drink, eyebrows furrowed.
“I don’t understand.” you shake your head. “My dad should be off of work soon he can take you to the train station but-”
“I’ll catch an Uber.” Jae turns away from you. You’re confused by the sudden change. The last three days had been normal for the two of you.
“Jae, please talk to me.” you begin to follow him towards the front door. “Did I do something to upset you?”
Jae stops in his tracks, suitcase in hand. He slowly turns towards you, a look in his eye that wasn’t familiar.
Goosebumps emerge onto your arms at the sinister look in his eyes.
“Jae-”
“You’re fucking your brother.”
Jae’s voice is deep and stern - you’ve never heard him use such language before.
You shake your head, gulping. “W-What?” you murmur so low and inaudible that you yourself are unsure if you said it or not.
“You’re,” Jae turns towards you fully. “fucking your brother.” he repeats each word slowly. “You’re fucking your brother and you brought me here to meet him.”
Your mind is racing and your eyes are wide.
“Where is this coming from?”
Jae drops his suitcase harshly. He rummages through his coat pocket and takes out his phone. He shoves it into your face as the video plays - the same video from a year prior of Jungkook and you in his car.
Right before college.
“I-I can explain-”
“Explain how you’re fucking your brother?!” Jae hisses with such venom that it makes you flinch. “Explain how you brought me here to meet him like a fool. What type of relationship do you two-”
“N-Nothing!” your eyes begin to water. “Jungkook isn’t my biological brother, he’s…” your breathing increases.
“Why does that matter, Y/N? There’s pictures all over here of you and him as kids!” Jae waves around his arms to said pictures on the walls. “You were raised as his sister! You call the same man dad!”
All you can do is shake your head as the tears begin to fall. Your heart hurts and you’re full of pure embarrassment of being found out.
“Jae…”
“I’m leaving, Y/N. Don’t…don’t contact me anymore.” Jae pushes his phone back into his pocket. “I’m upset with you, but I don’t hate you. I wish you the best.”
Jae picks up his suitcase from the ground and turns away from you. You want to reach out for him and apologize - beg for his forgiveness. You want to plead for him to speak with you just a little while longer so you can explain.
You don’t - you didn’t have the right to.
“Y/N.”
Your head whips around to Jungkook leaning against the kitchen door.
“You asshole!” you screech, lunging at him to attack. “How fucking selfish can you be?!” you scream so loud that you’re sure the neighbors will hear.
“Calm down!” Jungkook screams back, restraining your wrists and halting your attacks. “It wasn’t me.”
“Who else has that video?” your tears are beginning to blind your vision. “You…you promised!” your voice cracks.
“Y/N…” Jungkook embraces you from behind. It’s the only way he could console you without you attacking him.
“Let me go.” you cry, your body going limp in his embrace.
“Luna isn’t here either. She left.” Jungkook murmurs into your ear. “I should have hid the video better. I’m sorry.”
You swallow. “L-Luna…knows?”
“Yes.” Jungkook murmurs. “She was the one who sent it to Jae. She suspected I was seeing someone else…” he trails off.
Jae knew.
Luna knew.
Your life was done - you wanted the world to swallow you whole at this moment.
Jungkook holds you against his chest as you cried. “It’ll be okay, Y/N.”
“I-I can’t go back there.” you shake your head. “J-Jae…will tell everyone and-”
“SShh, Y/N. Calm down for me, please.” Jungkook turns you around and guides you towards the couch. “Breath, baby. It’s okay. I’m here.”
You swallow the lump in your throat and sniffle.
“Why don’t you come home?” Jungkook suggests. “You can transfer to my college. It’s not too close to home but not as far, either.”
‘What about Luna?”
“Luna won’t be a problem.” Jungkook assures. He had already broken things off with her the following night before he sent the video to Jae. She had taken it well and insisted there was no bad blood between them. “Trust me.”
You sniffle once more, wiping your eyes to look at Jungkook.
Jungkook offers a warm smile. “There you go, Y/N. Wipe your tears.” he says softly. “I was thinking about getting an apartment for myself in the next few weeks. Do you want to stay with me when the transfers go through?”
You nod your head.
“Okay. I’ll tell Dad and we’ll get everything sorted, okay?” Jungkook rubs your arms encouragingly. “I’m sorry things with Jae didn’t work out.”
Jungkook wasn’t sorry, but he would apologize because you were crying and visibly upset and as someone he loves and cares for, he didn’t like it.
Jungkook presses his lips against yours and embraces you. “I’ll be okay, Y/N.” he tells you. “No one’s going to love you like I do. I’ll take care of you.”

Hiiii
I'm a writer who makes queer supernatural horror/dark fantasy/sci fi stories I was wondering if you might be okay with talking about your process in getting an editor/getting published? I know the basics, but I'm interested in hearing how people who are also writing queer stories have managed to gather followings for themselves and put their work out there
Thank you!
previous to self publishing, i participated in dvpit/pitmad which were events for unrepresented authors to pitch their works to agents and i also queried a number of agents and pubs separate from that. i received only rejections, which wasn’t really surprising because most publishers only accept fantasy romance manuscripts of a maximum length of 150-170k words. at the time, spitfire was 307k. i didn’t really take this too hard because i knew it was a long shot, since being outside of submission requirements is almost always an automatic rejection for new authors. i just wanted to be able to say i tried, honestly.
because of this and because i did not feel equipped to split the book into two by myself, i decided to self publish the book. it sold… surprisingly well. well enough that i suddenly had the budget to fund an audiobook with just enough money left over to hire a line editor to get the book polished before someone cemented my words in audio form.
i put out a call for editors on social media and got over 100 applicants. i requested editing samples from the people who were in my budget and seemed like potentially good matches. i had a lot of very strong choices but the moment i read danielle’s editing sample, i knew she was the one because she just got it, plain and simple. i was primarily looking for a line editor but i also had a couple non-syntax issues that were small enough to not require a huge structural overhaul of anything, but were big enough that my exhausted brain just wasn’t untangling them. i needed fresh eyes.
and then, as danielle and i were just hammering out our plans for our edits, claire contacted me. they’d seen some of my tiktoks about the book and were intrigued, then realized that they already knew me/my work and had actually bought a skirt from me at a con a few years back. they requested my manuscript, read it over, we had a couple meetings and then i signed with them. they suggested splitting the book into two and now that i was equipped with both a fantastic editor and agent—and now that trad pub seemed on the table and it seemed i wouldn’t need to self fund my own audiobook—i suddenly had the funds and support needed to tackle a huge structural overhaul of the once duology, now series.
all in all things only really worked out because i already had an audience who was willing to give a new author a chance. i think it helped a lot that i initially posted the book on ao3, meaning people could read it for free and didn’t have to spend money to risk being disappointed in something. it make the buy in very cheap for people. and somehow enough of them decided that they liked the book enough to buy it, giving me the funds for an editor and the numbers to look attractive to prospective publishers.
anyway don’t use this as a guide for how to get published. i have not been picked up by a publisher and even if i had, the path i’ve taken is really fucking weird and not viable for most people.
regardless, i hope this helped somehow and i wish you luck!

The Dating Game pt 1
Pt1 Pt2 Pt3 Pt4 Pt5 Pt6 Pt7 Pt8 Pt9
“…You want me to pretend to date you to make Agatha jealous?”
“Yes.”
“What do I get out of it?”
“Didn’t she bind you? Also, she was planning to kill you.”
"...Okay, fine. But you’re buying. And no cheaping out.”
“Do you really think she’ll be jealous?”
“Oh, yeah. First of all, look at me. But also, I know how to play this game. You should see what I’ve put my exes through. By the time I’m done, she’s going to be seething. Now, smile for the camera.”
***
“Uh, Agatha? Don’t get upset, but you know how I follow Jen on social media?”
“Why would I know that, Teen?”
“Because I’ve mentioned it a lot…anyway, she’s got a new girlfriend, it’s all over her feed.”
“Do you really think I care about Jennifer Kale’s dating life?”
“Well. You should maybe see who it is.”
“All right, show me what uggo—"
“Agatha? Hey, hey, stop with the poltergeist stuff, I’ve finally got everything organized the way I want it!”
”…It’s fine. It’s fine! It's so fine. This is just Rio trying to make me jealous. She’s really getting desperate. I mean, Jen! Come on.”
“Jen’s gorgeous—not that I would know! But they do look kind of cuddly…”
“All fake. Trust me, I can tell. I know Rio.”
“I mean, if you say so, but wow, there’s a lot of photos—and that is a really big bouquet.”
“…she gave her flowers?”
“Agatha? Are you okay?”
“She gave her…I’m going to kill her.”
"I don't think you can actually—there she goes. Ha! I knew she still liked her."

in which you get cornered...
a follow up to this drabble
When Tae asked if he could post a couple photos of you on Instagram it didn’t seem like a life changing moment. You were vaguely aware of the implications of the action, but you’d gradually shifted out of your social media era over the years so it didn’t seem like that big of a deal to you. Your main concern was making sure he picked pictures where you didn’t look like an ugly little swamp creature because he had a penchant for putting his phone in the worst angle possible at the worst time possible and snapping away. He was annoying like that.
But, the ones he wanted to post were cute. One was an off guard of you laughing at night on one of your walks, the flash was on but it was that perfect amount of blurry that made it trendy. The second was from your stop at Ikea a few weeks ago. You two were posted up in front of a mirror, you leant back against his chest, his arm secured around your waist. It was kinda hot. Made you two look like some sort of power couple. It was currently your home screen. So, you approved of his selections, liked the post a few days later when you remembered to open up the app, and didn’t think much of it afterwards. That should have been the end of it.
Apparently, it was not.
“I dated Tae last year.”
You look up from the sink where you were washing your hands and over to the girl fixing her lashes a few feet away. You weren’t sure how that concerned you or what you were supposed to do with that information. “Okay?”
“Don’t expect it to last long,” she warned nonchalantly.
“Excuse me?”
“It’s all great in the beginning. He’s super sweet, walks you to class, buys you coffee, all that good stuff. But pretty soon he’s going to get bored of you and he’s gonna drop you just as fast as he picked you up.”
You swiped a few paper towels, mulling over her statement. “It’s Taehyung,” you decided to address first.
And now it was her turn to ask the questions. “What?”
“Like you said, you dated him a year ago, and I have no idea who you even are, so it’s not Tae, he’s Taehyung to you now.” You didn’t like her addressing him so casually as if she had any type of relationship with I’m now. “And I’m not like you so I’m not going to presume to know anything about the nature of your relationship with him, but I’m guessing maybe it didn’t work out because you’re the type to accost people he’s close to in the bathroom.” You shot her a disgusted look and exited the room.
You were off put by the encounter. A little nauseous if you’re being honest because it wasn’t even the first one like it. Well, it was the first of his scorned lovers to approach you (and hopefully the last), but it seemed like everyone had something to say about you and your relationship with him. Even your friends from back home questioned how you bagged him. You know they didn’t mean it in a bad way, that Tae really was just that handsome and great, but everything was starting to get overwhelming, was bristling you in the wrong way.
What’s even worse was that you actually were about to meet him in a little cafe just off campus and you knew he’d be sitting there with a coffee waiting for you just like that girl claimed he did for her. You spent the walk over there frazzled, working yourself into a tizzy, so by the time you got there you were completely over it and him. You saw him looking cute and cozy in his oversized hoodie, waiting in a booth with your coffee reserving the spot next to him. You took the to go cup and tossed it in the trash. “Let’s go,” you commanded, not even making eye contact with him and walking back out the door.
It took a good twenty seconds before you could hear him catching up to you. “Hey! Hey!” He spun you around to face him. “Umm! That coffee ain’t cheap. Why’d you throw it out?”
You rolled your eyes, pulling out your phone and sending him $6 before continuing to stomp away. Of course he was worried about his money and not the fact that you’re so upset that you threw away a perfectly good cup of coffee. Maybe that girl was right. Maybe the end was coming soon.
“I didn’t mean for you to send me the money,” he huffed trailing behind you. “Can you just- Can we-“ He grabbed your hand to prevent you from getting any further away and dragged you to the bench a few feet away. He tugged you into his lap, his arms completely engulfing you so you had nowhere to go, nowhere to look but right at him. “Now, can you please tell me what’s wrong?”
You stewed in silence for a bit longer before spitting out, “Your ex cornered me in the bathroom.”
“My ex?”
“Yes.”
His eyes flitted around in thought. “Aaliyah?”
You scoffed. “Am I supposed to know her name?”
He breathed out a laugh. “I’m just– I haven’t had a girlfriend since, like, before I graduated? Like, junior year?”
“Well, I’m sure you weren’t walking around this campus celibate for the past 3 years. I don’t know if it was a girlfriend, a hookup, a summer fling– whatever. She said she dated you last year.”
“What’d she look like?”
“Oh my god! That is soooo not the point.”
“You’re right. I’m sorry. What’d she say?”
“She told me all about how you used to walk her to class and buy her coffee and then dropped her when you had your fill. Told me to expect the same.”
He had that same lost in thought expression before his eyes lit up in recognition. “Are you talking about Emi?! About 5’6 with the blue black hair? Because we never dated. I helped her study sometimes, but that was it.”
“I mean. I guess. But, you’re not listening to me. I don’t care who you did or did not date. You don’t seem traumatized or jaded enough for me to worry about that.”
He furrowed his eyebrows. “Well… you don’t believe her, do you?”
You shrugged. “I’ve seen the greatest minds of our generation fall victim to a three month situationship.”
“This isn’t a situation. You’re my girlfriend, and I’m falling in love with you.”
Your breath hitched, eyes wide as saucers as you stared at him, nowhere near prepared for such an admission.
He unwrapped his arms from around you to cup your face, thumb lightly caressing your cheeks. “Don’t look so surprised. I told you I would,” he said softly before bringing his lips to yours and indulging you in the softest, sweetest kiss you ever had in your life. Pillowy lips slotted between yours, applying just enough pressure so that you know he’s there with you, for you. You melted into him, pressing your forehead against his once he pulled away, hoping he wouldn’t be able to notice how erratic he had your heart beating. He pressed another kiss to your cheek. “Now, what’s really the problem?”
You wriggled your arms out of his hold, to wrap around his neck and sighed. “I just don’t understand why.”
“I don’t know why she would do that either, baby.”
“No. I don’t understand why you like me. They always say don’t ask questions you don’t wanna know the answer to, so I didn’t. Didn’t wanna jinx it, but now it seems like everyone has something to say about us. No one understands why you’re with me, and I don’t either.”
He was silent for a few moments which you appreciated because you wanted a real answer. “I think you’re a really intimidating person. Like, you always look like you don’t wanna be bothered. Kinda mean, to be honest.”
“That’s just my face.”
“I know that now, but I’m saying when I first met you, you just seemed unfriendly and standoffish.”
“Okay. I get it. I’m unapproachable. Can you skip to the part where you tell me why you like me?”
He breathed out a laugh. “I mean, I don’t know. You’ve got that tsundere thing going on that kinda does it for me.”
You blinked at him.
“I’m serious! You act like you’re all big and bad, but really you’re just my baby.” You pouted. “See,” he stole a quick kiss, “so cute.” He was silent for a few more moments, simply enjoying the feel of you scratching lightly at his scalp before he started talking again. “And even when we were just friends, I could tell how much you cared about me. About everyone, really. And you care for people in the way they understand even if they take it for granted sometimes. It made me want to care about you, too.”
You cuddled him to you, satisfied with his answer. “I’m sorry for throwing away the coffee you got me.”
He squeezed you tighter. “It’s okay.”
“And block Emi, please. I’m pretty sure she cornered me because of your post.”
He opened his account and handed you his phone instead. “You can go through and remove whoever you think is gonna give you trouble.”
And in that moment you couldn’t help but feel like you were falling in love with him, too.

TikTok was where I learned about SHEIN. For a while my For You page, which had accurately identified my interest in fashion’s more material impacts, served me videos of sustainable fashion influencers decrying SHEIN’s wretched labor and environmental practices. The textile industry is the second-largest polluter in the world, they said, and of all the fast-fashion producers, SHEIN is by far the worst offender. SHEIN uses toxic chemicals in their clothing production; SHEIN mass-produces fabrics like spandex that never decompose (at this point an image would flash across the screen: an overflowing clothing landfill, or a mountain of discarded clothes in the Chilean desert so large it is visible from space); SHEIN exploits and endangers its factory workers. Employees earn $556 a month to make five hundred pieces of clothing every day, work eighteen-hour days, and use their lunch breaks to wash their hair — a schedule they repeat seven days per week with only one day off per month. A more nuanced TikToker might point out, briefly, that conditions in SHEIN factories are not necessarily unique, or that focusing on suppliers — rather than the larger systems of Western consumption and capitalism that create these conditions — is a fool’s errand, but the platform isn’t built for that kind of dialogue. I clicked on the comments and invariably read ones with several dozen likes saying, “I’m so willing to die in shein clothes.” Before long I was watching SHEIN hauls. There are millions of them — the tag #sheinhaul has been viewed a collective 14.2 billion times on TikTok. In each haul, a woman rips open a plastic bag filled with smaller plastic bags filled with small plastic clothing. Sometimes the woman holds up each garment and narrates its merits, but often the clothes are disembodied, laid flat on a floor or a bed in an accidental stop-motion animation. A stretchy red skirt on a furry white carpet is replaced by a strapless watercolor bustier with a deep-V neckline. A zebra-print skirt is followed by a matching pink two-piece set, with a short-sleeve cardigan and miniskirt constructed from a fabric that looks like bubble wrap. Sometimes a haul is five pieces, and sometimes it is too many pieces to count. The garments appear and disappear in seconds, edited to the beat of a trending song. Rarely do we see the clothing on a body. Usually brand familiarity accrues in a slow drip, building from obscurity to instant recognizability over the course of months or years as a designer’s work intersects with the zeitgeist and gains traction on social media. SHEIN was different. One day I’d never heard of the retailer and the next it was inescapable: in thousands of outfit videos, on millions of social media feeds. The clothes weren’t distinct or cohesive; what united them wasn’t style but price. All those SHEIN hauls entered my feeds with such ubiquity that they began to feel like they’d always been there. I’d opened a door to a new part of the fashion internet: a place where girls bragged about their ultra-fast-fashion purchases, delighting in the cheapness of the garments. Here, SHEIN was the obvious choice for new clothes. Why not, when you could buy on-trend pieces at lightning speed for less than the price of a cup of coffee? It was uncanny to bounce between videos: here was a girl showing off her new halter, here was another girl giving a litany of reasons why it was unconscionable to buy clothes for so little money. Didn’t these TikTokers hear one another? But then again, how could they? “This is what we keep missing here in the whole conversation about sustainability in the industry,” Nick Anguelov, a professor of public policy from UMass Dartmouth, said to a Slate journalist writing about SHEIN in June. “We keep failing to understand that our customers are kids and they don’t give a fuck.”

I've started and deleted three drafts now trying to get my thoughts into a coherent recommendation, but there's just so much.
Let's start with the basics: You should read the graphic novel if you're a fan of the original show. You just should. It's new content of your old faves, and I'm telling you now that the art and writing are great and that you should give it a shot based on that alone.
But as for exactly why I'm losing my mind over it this much...?
It... feels like watching the show. But a version of the show unafraid to explore its own worldbuilding. A version of the show where continuity and character growth matter. A version of the show without jokes written by people far too old to understand mid-2000s teens.
And it is actually, honest-to-goodness funny. I went in fully braced for a badly shoehorned "fruit loop" one-liner, and instead I got incredible deadpan asides like this:
The art, too, manages to perfectly ride the line of looking enough like the original style to be convincing, but improving on the expressiveness of the characters' faces and actions to elevate it to something arguably better than the show:
(Like, I'm being so serious when I say the fight scenes are among the best I have ever seen in comic form. I'm the kind of person who tends to go for anime over manga because the fights are harder for me to follow in little sequential snapshots, but I can tell exactly what's happening in these battles AND they still look super cinematic and cool.)
And the story. Man, the STORY.
I won't spoil any of the plot here, but it's... really good. A little winding and goofy toward the beginning, but once things get serious, it really grabs you and refuses to let go til it's done. (Much like the best episodes of the show! Funny how that works.) It has a satisfying conclusion, but it also leaves a massive door open to continue telling more stories in the setting.
And I want more stories in this universe. The threads being dangled here might be even more enticing than those left by the original show. There is potential here for an INCREDIBLE series of comics.
We just have to prove how badly we want it.
If you can't buy the book yourself right now (it's relatively cheap for a graphic novel--I think it was about $15 even with tax from my Barnes & Noble), then please at least let other fans know it exists (I wouldn't have had any idea if not for tumblr) and keep the hype going on social media. I'm stoked to see that DP is trending on tumblr, at least, and I hope the same is true elsewhere. It's a small thing, but it's something corporate decision-makers take note of.
Fingers crossed we get to see more someday. This is one series that deserves to come back from the dead.
But, whether or not we get that continuation: welcome back, Phandom. Congrats and happy release day. 💚
#Danny Phantom#DP comic spoilers#(BARELY spoilers but I did include the images so :/ )#while I'm rambling in the tags lemme say one more thing as a slightly more niche endorsement:#since he's on the cover it's not a spoiler to say Danny's evil future self from TUE plays a big role#I am happy to report that despite the blurb on the back of the book calling him ''Dark Danny''--as all official sources do--#he is instead referred to in-universe exclusively as ''Phantom''#I think that single detail goes a LONG way toward showing just how much this author truly *understands*.#she really is one of us. on the fandom's side and not the corporation's.#this is a project made with SO MUCH admiration for what made the source material special in the first place#and for how the fandom has interacted with it since#it's... it feels awesome. I was so worried this book would be bad or mediocre but it's genuinely a labor of love and I'm so happy

It's all fake, anyway
Oh, my. The last two or three video snippets in Marina del Rey. The revolt. The pearl-clutching. The hate.
Again, you know nothing, Jon Snow. It's all about the medium being the message, again: carefully calibrated snippets of information, destined to a captive, deeply divided and (how can I put that without sounding offending, I wonder) unexperimented (yes, that's decent enough) audience.
During the last 24 hours, we've got the Marina del Rey gin promo & MPC teambuilding (hardly an orgy, btw) and C's MUA (or is it hairdresser? irrelevant) hinting on Instagram about a photoshoot at a gin distillery in a #beautifullocation, somewhere on Earth, presumably in Scotland - given her last IG follow. No further details, of course. Very probably a (late-) latergram, too, when she finally got the green light to publish it. Implying nothing, but leaving a boulevard bandwidth for people to infer whatever suits their own narrative. Expect FMN news soon? I highly doubt that and stand corrected: the last photoshoot (with McSideburns, in London) was on May 3rd, when she needed to somehow show the world the Two of Them were continents apart. Identical modus operandi. And always, always via tertiary players.
As for the Marina del Rey teambuilding, if you think that is 'S living his life' you are: a) living in a remote mountain/island area or under a rock; b) an impenitent Mordorian with an agenda to boot or c) incredibly incompetent with the way of the world (or at least, that world). Allow me to translate?
It is alcohol promo, duckies, disguised as teambuilding. The intended message is aimed at a younger, non-OL related audience (as I already warned you) and it roughly goes like this:
'we are a fun loving, no nonsense, start-up business in the spirits industry. Because we don't have a huge advertising budget, we're testing the waters with a cheap, reality-TV snippet to better evaluate the number of social media clicks and new followers and help gauge & calibrate the next step'.
Was it poorly executed? Yeah, you could say that, but then what to do, in a very restrictive, highly regulated tobacco & spirits advertising market, hum? Is it my cup of tea? I don't drink, therefore this type of message touches one ball without really moving the other.
Yes. Start-up business: if we take into account the COVID logistic delay, I believe we're still in that three-years frame. And this detail is essential in order to put context around a very forgettable snippet. Selling a brand-new, more democratic product. Selling it clumsily, in an effort to build relevance, because even bad advertising is, ultimately, good advertising. But make no mistake: it's nothing more than that and it is all they can do, in the current context.
This brings to mind another aspect of the charade, namely the fact that after the Remarkable Week-end (and with the exception of some carefully scripted 'slips'), released and available information progressively became (at least) two-tiered.
First tier: information carefully calibrated for immediate release and general consumption, primarily but not exclusively by the fandom. This includes: spirits shilling, innuendos galore, look-here-not-there latergrams. It also entails less direct interaction with the fans on socials and delegating the media management to secondary players (often called to the rescue, too).
Second tier: public information with a limited availability (you have to take the plunge and pay), for sleuths able and willing to go the extra mile. They paint a very different landscape. And draw two copycat timelines of people who are investing, buying and selling property and overall branching out of their primary source of income with a plan.
I am not a photo sleuth. But with a little bit of time on my hands, I am a decent paperwork analyst. Accounting is not my forte, but legal and business is. I saw what I needed to see and it holds.
So before you start screeching (bad idea, right?), remember this (credit given to @dillon7fan, thanks):
Not really: it is doctored make believe. Bless your heart, honest guy.
Next stop, Tehran. Yes, you read that correctly.
This evening or tomorrow, at the latest. Because context is everything and this fandom severely fails at this.

Earlier this month I complimented a friend on her new Bottega Jodie bag. She had recently got a promotion at work, and is now a senior manager at a respectable record label earning six figures. The bag was a celebratory gift, she told me, only it wasn’t Bottega—it was a dupe.
As someone who has a closet full of designer labels—and who could certainly afford to buy the real thing—her admission surprised me. My face must have given that away. “It’s real Italian leather,” she quickly followed up, “and their website says they manufacture in the same factories as some luxury brands. You couldn’t tell the difference, so why would I spend thousands more for basically the same thing?”
It’s a question many have been asking since dupe culture went supernova over the last few years. A shorthand for duplicate, dupes are cheaper alternatives that are basically the same as the real thing. Think of it as a cousin to counterfeit culture, but instead of being a cheap knock-off that infringes on a brand’s trademark, they’re uncannily similar imitations—promising the same qualities of the product at a fraction of the cost.
It’s not just my friend who loves them either. Roughly one-third of all US adults have intentionally bought a dupe, according to Morning Consult, with that figure rising to almost half for Gen Z shoppers and 44% for millennials. In the UK, research by Mintel shows 47% of consumers are now open to buying luxury lookalikes in 2024, compared to just 12% in 2016.
“The shame of buying these things has gone,” says Alice Sherwood, author of Authenticity: Reclaiming Reality in a Counterfeit Culture. “Luxury prices have skyrocketed while the trend cycle has rapidly accelerated. People no longer want to spend upwards of £4000 on the latest ‘It’ bag that might be out of vogue within a year.”
Add their proliferation on social media into that mix, and the dupe culture has been normalised in ways that “knock-offs” from Canal Street never were, she says.
Just one scroll on TikTok would affirm this. At the time of writing over 260,000 posts have been made under the #dupes hashtag, with the majority featuring creators sharing their best dupe finds across fashion, beauty, lifestyle and homeware. Most of the time they’re from fast fashion retailers like Shein, Amazon and Temu, but more recently, a new crop of companies have been dominating dupe culture by offering quite a different proposition.
Low-Price Luxury
Take my friend’s new favourite brand, Quince. According to their website their mission is “to create products of equal or greater quality than the leading luxury brands at a much lower price”. To do so they’ve sourced factories used by “well-known luxury brands” to manufacture their goods, but by cutting out the middlemen and hefty markup, they can sell them at far more affordable prices.
They’re not the only ones. Leather goods manufacturer Sitoy Group Holdings regularly uploads videos on social media showcasing how the quality of its $100 handbags is almost identical to those sold for upwards of $1000, all the while advertising that they use the same production lines used by Prada, Tumi and Michael Kors. Then there's Chicjoc, one of the largest Chinese fashion apparel brands on Taobao and Tmall, claiming it uses the same fabric manufacturers as those used by the likes of Chanel, Valentino and Louis Vuitton.
This shift towards high-quality dupes puts luxury brands in a difficult position. For decades, they’ve justified their high prices with the promise of superior craftsmanship and materials. They've even poked fun at these imitations. But when brands are offering near-identical goods allegedly manufactured in the same factory as luxury brands for much, much less, that justification starts to crumble.
Another brand that has gained significant traction online this year is Los Angeles-based premium basics brand, Italic, with many consumers on Reddit expressing their satisfaction with the quality of the products. “Most of our products take 5–10 sample runs and 6–18 months, sometimes even longer,” says Italic CEO Jeremy Cai. “Our sourcing process involves rigorous vetting and ongoing quality controls, including factory certifications, samples, and production quality.”
This meticulous approach stands in stark contrast to what many might expect. Italic contacts 20-30 potential suppliers, evaluates 5-7 factories, and ultimately works with just 1-2 of them for any given product category, visiting each factory on-site.
The key difference between Italic and the high-profile brands using the same factories, Cai explains, is in the pricing: “Most of our factories' clients sell for 2-4x more than our SRPs (Suggested Retail Prices), often much higher.” By cutting out the markup typically associated with luxury goods, Italic offers high-quality products at a more accessible price point.
Cai is quick to point out that Italic does not market itself as a “dupe” brand. However, that hasn’t stopped consumers from drawing comparisons to more expensive luxury labels. In contrast, competitor Quince leans into dupe culture, positioning itself more overtly as a challenger to high-end brands. On Quince's website, woven intrecciato handbags, which resemble Bottega Veneta's iconic designs, are showcased alongside price comparisons to their luxury counterparts.
Quince also frequently analyses luxury competitors’ best-selling items to identify opportunities for replication. “Data collection is crucial in our product development process,” says a Quince spokesperson. “Our team uses a variety of sources, including Google Trends, social media, and customer feedback, to understand the market and ensure we’re delivering what people want.”
Quince’s strategy is built on the belief that luxury can—and should—be more accessible. “Our founding team, with years of experience in luxury and DTC (direct-to-consumer) retail, knew that competitors add a 40–60% markup on similar products,” continues the spokesperson. “As costs in the luxury market become more transparent, consumers are less willing to accept these inflated prices.”
To that end, Quince works globally to source manufacturing partners that share their commitment to transparency, while innovating to keep costs down. Every product page on their site includes detailed information about materials, country of origin, and certifications for working conditions along the supply chain.
Luxury brands, on the other hand, have traditionally kept their manufacturing processes shrouded in secrecy. William Lasry, founder of Glass Factory, is working to change that.
Lasry travels the globe, visiting and spotlighting factories with superior craftsmanship and ethical practices across his social media platforms. While not all brands are doing their very best, he is sceptical about some companies' supposed connections to luxury factories, pointing out that these dupe brands frequently exploit this ambiguity for marketing purposes.
“There are many instances where a factory will produce a sample for a luxury brand,” Lasry explains. “Luxury brands often request samples from hundreds of factories, but in many cases, nothing materialises beyond the sample stage. The factory might then turn around and claim, ‘We’ve made samples for Gucci,’ even though no production deal was ever finalised.”
Petros Analytis, head of research at Glass Factory, agrees that it’s hard to draw the line. “Unless they let us come into the factories and see for ourselves, it’s hard to ascertain.”
Premium Tax
While transparency might be slowly improving, one thing the luxury market has always clung onto is its appeal. Conglomerates like LVMH and Kering built empires on the foundation of an alluring narrative—one that combines centuries of heritage with modern-day prestige. By blending Old World craftsmanship with the new-age glamour of celebrity culture, they made handbags, shoes, and clothing a gateway to an elite, exclusive world.
For a long time consumers were happy to pay big bucks to belong in this world. Perhaps unknowingly, they were buying not just a product but an experience. The true value of a designer label wasn't simply measured by the stitching or material, but by the feeling it evoked—the confidence boost, the social status, the feeling of exclusivity. “It’s a real skill to make a handbag into an object desired by millions of women, one that has so much meaning and can do so much for your self-confidence,” notes Sherwood.
Yet, behind the curtain of glamour, the reality of some products was very different. While consumers believed they were buying the pinnacle of luxury, what they were often getting was a product only marginally superior to midrange alternatives—and occasionally no better at all. The excessively high margins were less a reflection of quality and more a tax on the brands' appeal.
“They are the architects of their own problems,” continues Sherwood. “By making so much of their products not about the tangible product, but about the intangible aspects of the brands - those sexy ads, the celebs who carry your products, the stores, the glossy ads, the slogans, the heritage backstory, all that stuff that isn’t actually the product itself.”
In turn they’ve created an enormous gap between what consumers are actually paying for and the real value of the product. As these companies have increasingly pursued the ultra-wealthy, they’ve left a gap in the market that other brands, eager to capitalise, are starting to fill. “They know that the prices at the very top of luxury are too high to reflect the actual value,” Sherwood says. “But have turned these notable silhouettes and styles into desirable items that a dupe brand can free ride off of.”
Then, recently, the veneer began to crack even further. In March, Italian luxury brand Loro Piana became embroiled in scandal after an investigation revealed the material behind their $9,000 sweaters was sourced by low-paid workers in Peru. Just a few months later, in July, Italian prosecutors alleged sweatshop-like conditions in factories supplying certain products for high-end labels such as Dior and Armani. The revelations triggered outrage among consumers, many of whom had long trusted these brands to uphold the highest standards of craftsmanship and ethics.
Across online forums like the r/handbag subreddit, once-loyal customers voiced their disillusionment. For many, these scandals revealed that the luxury brands they idolised were not living up to their promises. Both Loro Piana and Dior have denied the allegations. However, The Business of Fashion revealed that Milan's public prosecutor said in a court document that they had found “an illegal practice so entrenched and proven [that it could] be considered part of a broader business policy exclusively aimed at increasing profit.” Neither company has been charged in relation to the probe.
Such reputational damage couldn’t have come at a worse time for luxury brands. Coupled with the rise of dupe culture, these scandals are forcing consumers to rethink their relationship with high-end goods. If craftsmanship is no longer exceptional, and ethical practices are called into question, what exactly are people paying for when they buy luxury?
Rebuilding the Dream
Recent sales figures underline just how far demand for luxury mega-brands has fallen from its post-pandemic highs. In July, some of the industry’s biggest players reported disappointing revenues for the second consecutive quarter. LVMH, the world’s leading luxury conglomerate, missed sales estimates, while Gucci’s parent company Kering, experienced a decline of 11%. Other major brands like Richemont and Burberry also reported disappointing figures, with first-quarter sales plummeting by a staggering 20%.
At the heart of luxury’s current struggles is the erosion of the very dream that once propelled the industry. The disconnect between the marketing mythology and the reality of production has left consumers feeling disillusioned, meaning the days of blindly paying a premium for a logo may be at risk.
The democratisation of information and consumer power through social media has played a huge part in this. Platforms like TikTok and Reddit are filled with conversations that challenge the industry's value proposition, which has made it so much harder for luxury brands to control their narrative.
To regain their position, Brittany Steiger, principal analyst of retail & eCommerce at Mintel says they will need to focus on what once made them so desirable—authenticity, superior craftsmanship, and a narrative of prestige that feels both aspirational and attainable. Some experts suggest that embracing more transparent practices and truly living up to their ethical and quality promises could also be the way forward. Brands that fail to do so, may find themselves increasingly irrelevant in a world where high-quality dupes continue to gain ground.
It’s clear that the old model of luxury has been disrupted, and it’s no longer just about price anymore. In the battle between heritage and value, consumers are asking more questions—and luxury brands must have better answers. And if they don’t, there’s a whole industry on the sidelines who do.

Keep in mind Amazon had nothing to do with funding for Hazbin. The show was finished by A24 in February 2023, and Hazbin had no distributor until the summer, hence missing Viv's proposed release date and her not even saying anything about the delay.
It's also quite curious that A24 funded and produced the entire show, yet hasn't promoted it at all. Really seems that production was hell behind the scenes, and considering the 4 years for 8 episodes and Viv's general attitude, I don't doubt that at all.
Won't be surprised if a Sweatbox-like documentary comes out about it in a few years with how awful production seems like it was.
That is why I say that calling Hazbin an "Amazon Show" is tantamount to misinformation. Amazon is merely the streaming service who have a contract with the production company, in this case A24. They buy the license to the show, which can vary in length. It's why Netflix loses shows from their library all the time. Additionally, overseas licensing is often cheaper (why the Japanese Netflix had shows like Kung Fu Panda while American Netflix didn't). So the contracts are more like leasing agreements and they may renew them or lose them after that time.
A24 has preferential treatment with Amazon. Amazon hosts almost all of A24's library and it's a bit of a sweetheart deal between the studio and streaming service. It's why I say that it seems so weird that it took so long to get a streaming service for the series.
In regards to advertising, A24 doesn't actually do much advertising. Think how you heard about Midsomner and Talk To Me, usually from YouTubers. People who make videos about the films, social media posts, etc. That isn't a buh, that is the A24 model. They keep their films cheap by not advertising. They just don't do that. So the fact Medrano had a historical theatre marquee for her advertising is outside the norm. Not just in its sheer impotence as a marketing strategy, but also for A24 as a studio. That either had to come out of the budget for the series (explaining why the last episode was unable to be finished) or Medrano's personal income, which we can safely assume did not happen.
Additionally, Amazon also has rules they usually follow (which were broken for Medrano) in that they do not advertise shows until after they air on the platform.

She’s the one that makes bullying the band club preventable since she’s in it and also she’s cool with everyone.
Head teachers HATE her because she mocks them sometimes.
She talks about “underground” artists and people just stare at her in disbelief because almost every creature on the planet knows that artist.
She isn’t friends with boys (except Denki for the most part) but none of them have a problem with her at all and love talking to her when they get the opportunity.
She doesn’t do makeup but Momo told her to try eye makeup since Jirou wanted to do something and she fell in love.
She can do edits but only does them like once a year.
LOVES the idea of signature scents.

She’s like Denki exactly in terms of social media usage.
The ultimate girls’ girl.
She does grwm(s) on her page and they’re always wild.
She’s the one who spreads the gossip to Tsuyu.
She has really bad tiktok humor and sometimes says she has a 3rd leg and the whole room goes silent.
She loves saying “girl wtf” and doing side eyes.
She has fortnite and has all of the quote-on-quote girly skins.
Plays fortnite 24/7 with Kiri.
She will give you her honest opinion and everyone admires that.
SPAMS streaks.
Smells like caramel.
She sings randomly for no reason and nobody even questions it: they either go silent or go along.
She turns the mood of the room around immediately.
She does dance videos on tiktok and tries to invite the rest of the girls to join.
Doing the “🤨” face is her favorite thing to do in the world.
She loves accidentally saying the same thing as someone else at the same exact time and place.
She has one of those ugly laughs that is even funnier than the joke itself.
Hair care is a staple and her hair always smells like roses (along with her caramel perfume).
Y2K Mcbling style.
Always eats out from restaurants.
She loves saving recipe videos even though she would never step into the kitchen.
Skin is flawless and clear and she has the best skin care products.
When her mouth opens, it doesn’t close for the next hour or so.
The teachers just gave up on her and she always gets kicked out in the middle of class.
She disobeys the dress code everyday.
She’s a friend to all.
Her and Denki send the weirdest stuff to each other.
She can’t hide secrets unless you’re her best friend.
She begs Momo to borrow makeup then forgets to bring it back.
She’s the host of the “study” sessions and her marks are always horrible.
Toru:
She has too many accounts on social media.
She has an art account and writing account that nobody knows about.
She adores booktok.
She loves those sappy romance books.
She can’t decide her hair’s length so she just messes around with it.
She’s basically the group’s makeup artist.
Her hair is never brushed and she just likes it messy.
She joins Mina in all of her dance videos.
She cries over movies ending then rewatches them.
She has millions of celebrity crushes.
Insanely good at nutrition balancing for no reason at all.
She loves Conan Gray.
She says she hates gossip but hears everything Tsuyu has to say without missing a single detail.
Vanilla is her scent and nobody will take that away from her.
Platform shoes.
She has a collection of converse shoes which are days-of-the-week-coordinated.
When she actually feels like making her hair look good, she asks Ochako to do it for her.
Wears mask whenever there’s a slight risk of a flu.
She used to be one of a vsco save the turtles girl.
She always carries purses.
She loves fancy themed phone cases unlike Tsuyu.
Her clothing style is Acubi.
Her academics are average but when there’s an actual risk, she makes an amazing comeback and they are perfect.

think: troyboi, alison wonderland
literally just started remixing songs together in high school for the parties that oikawa would throw and it kinda just spiraled from there
started to just fuck around and do his own thing, and after awhile he stopped remixing and just started to make his own beats
actually stopped it for a long time after he graduated high school
kinda forgot about it before he heard that kyoutani had become pretty famous off his edm music
so he decided to go back and start playing around with it again
started releasing his songs, and eventually he got to open at a super small show near him
just like blew up after that
mattsun (and makki)
hardstyle
think: gammer, headhunterz
same thing with makki, DJing was not really at the top of his priority list, like, ever
he played around with makki’s mixer a lot when they were in school together, but he never really gave it much thought
makki was crashing at his place for a bit, and he mentioned that he was playing a show near them, so mattsun decided to tag along
literally fucking FELL in love with makki’s set, and immediately wanted to learn how to make songs too
they worked at it for awhile, and eventually mattsun found a type of edm that he really enjoyed making
started collabing almost immediately after, and got like a massive amount of fans really quickly
also, their visuals are like so silly
(lots of shrek and whatever stupid shit that’s been viral that week)
kyoutani also refuses to play shows with them because makki and mattsun have so many bad pictures of him from high school that they use on their merch and promotion videos and stuff
kyoutani
dubstep (duh)
think: subtronics, wooli
come on, you know this boy loves dubstep
as far as headbangers go, kyoutani gets whiplash at literally every show he goes to
super into edm growing up, and he always knew that he wanted to be a DJ
he bought himself a cheap starter kit in high school and from then on his career was pretty much set in stone
pretty bad at promoting himself, most of his social media literally was just him pointing at the camera and bopping his head along to one of his own tracks
but he DOES have a really big following
mostly because people would fall in love with him when they saw him playing a set (can you blame them?)
picks up A LOT of girls because of it
also, oikawa never lets him live it down, but kyoutani doessss have to give him credit for his DJ name lol
really wants to collab with kenma one day (it’s in the works, don’t worry)
and no comment on the makki and mattsun merch, although he does buy a new shirt every time they drop one with his face on it
tendou
techno
think: space 92, hi-lo
tendou was going to underground raves since he started high school idcidc
the music helped him focus soooo much, he would literally listen to it when he was studying
he even used it to fall asleep sometimes
after graduation when semi joined his band, tendou would tag along to the studio with him
eventuallyyyy he learned how to produce rock music, and then he started making his own beats
he also doesn’t really take inspiration from other artists, which is cool
just hears the track in his head and BOOM — he makes it into a song
doesn’t really have a following, he just plays when and where he can
but people love his energy, so he always has a good sized crowd watching him
atsumu
bass house
think: space laces, ac slater
experimented with a lot of different sounds before he finally found something that fit
eventually though, he fell in love with the dancing more than he did the actual music
he would go to shows to try and find inspo and would end up watching the ravers more than he would the actual DJ’s
eventually learned how to rave shuffle, and that’s when he realized that bass house was his calling
when he was playing a set and looked out to the crowd, it made him sooooo happy to see people dancing to his music
is also the type of DJ to call out 1… 2… 1, 2, 3, 4 before every fucking drop
it made osamu so mad when they were playing a show together
he also only listens to house music, even on his off days
so when he can’t find any new music to listen to, he just makes his own
has a really big following, but definitely wants to push himself and start headlining at festivals one day
suna
drum and bass
think: subsonic, noisia
prettiest DJ award goes to suna
he just knows exactly how to read the crowd
is very good at knowing the vibe and matching what the crowd wants
also, is just very beautiful
but his sets are always, like, super weird
lots of really experimental sounds and his visuals are like… scary? in a way
so his music definitely isn’t for everyone
has more of a cult following than anything, but he doesn’t care much about being in the spotlight
he plays edm because HE likes it, he could give a fuck what anyone else thinks
is also never seen without a beanie on
it’s sort of a game to his fans — “take a picture of suna without his fucking hat on”
(they never can)
osamu
midtempo bass
think: rezz, kloud
doesn’t have flashy visuals or lasers or anything like that
gets criticized a lot because some people say that his shows are “boring”
but his true fans know that’s not true
osamu is there to play music! he isn’t there to put on a light show
has a really big group of fans that are ride or die for him — a lot of them say that if you’ve never been to one of his sets, you’re not a real raver
sort of a staple DJ in the “sober rave” community
is super supportive of his fans, and he even has a link on his website for people to send in their own personal stories about what it’s like to be a sober raver
also HATES to collab with other people that he doesn’t know, it’s hard for him to understand their vision
which is why he usually only collabs with atsumu
also, is known for not saying a word during his shows
he walks on, plays some music, and walks off (and people love him for it)
kenma
progressive house
think: acivii, zedd
biggest DJ of his generation
like, let me just make it clear, kenma is very very famous
he doesn’t really care about the spotlight though
he just loves to play music
doesn’t interact with his fans much, kuroo runs all of his social media because he knows that kenma gets overwhelmed a lot with stuff like that
for the most part though, his fans are super respectful
kenma headlines at the same festivals every year, and he consistently sells out shows at massive venues
feels truly happy when he is DJing
one of his fans sent him a pair of cat ears that they made, and kenma wears them to almost every show he plays
has never actually been to a rave himself
takes a lot of inspiration from very early edm artists
just makes people really happy with his music
honorable mentions
akaashi
designs all of kenma’s merch
usually never attends the shows, he and kenma just have a sort of working relationship where kenma vaguely describes what he wants, and akaashi fulfills his request
does sit through every video that bokuto shows him after a rave, though
he also doesn’t have any social media for himself, he created an account literally to promote kenma
also, says he hates edm, but kenma is his number one spotify artist every year??
bokuto sees through his lies (and is taking him to a rave in a few months)
akaashi says that he isn’t excited (but he actually really is)
kiyoomi
atsumu’s manager
is so good about keeping him on track with scheduling and stuff
“omi, can we go get ice cream?” — “no, atsumu, sound check is in ten minutes.”
is sooooo good about keeping atsumu hydrated
this boy does not drink water, like ever
so omi has literally stopped his set before only to make atsumu down a bottle of water
atsumu ALWAYS dedicates his sets to kiyoomi
and kiyoomi secretly loves him for it
iwaizumi and oikawa
complete rave baes
oikawa’s entire social media presence is: volleyball, volleyball, rave, rave, rave, iwaizumi, iwaizumi at a rave, volleyball
it was actually iwaizumi’s idea to wear matching shoes to their first ever rave
the tradition never stopped
iwaizumi will complain that oikawa takes too many pictures of them during shows but he will also post every single picture of them together
one of oikawa’s “essential” items at a rave is a custom pashmina he had made with a picture of kyoutani sleeping
(they love to torture this poor boy)
will be rave dad’s one day — it’s cannon
