People on Twitter are talking about "the rise of anti-feminism/MRAism on the left" and the anti-feminism/MRAism in question is literally just queer men saying that cis and/or het women can and do in fact be the oppressors of trans and/or non-straight men because they are cis and/or straight and we're not.
Alright I guess.

hi!! very excited about your next batch! but i was wondering if you ever think of posting some of the (wonderful) female!mav scenes you wrote (the question mark on my computer decided to stop working but this is indeed a question)
have a great weekend!!
yeah sure! again— this isn’t finished and never will be finished, I posted the reasons below. But here are a bunch of snippets from the fem!mav/lesbian charliemav AU from this summer. Would love to hear your thoughts, because politically it gave me some pause! lol.
1. On how mav survives (the central motif of the one-shot is Mav cutting her hair with scissors which is why the emphasis here)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. On ice (straight icemav will never work because fundamentally ice is a misogynistic cunt)
Tumblr media
3. on sex with girly girls (one of life’s greatest pleasures)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ehhh you get the picture of what’s under the cut
4. on charliemav
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. on charlie
Tumblr media
7. The end (post Layton mission [mav proving herself by saving ice’s life] and the end of TG86, Mav gearing up to cut her hair again in Charlie’s house)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and here, copy-pasted, were the tags i planned to affix to the charliemav one-shot, which I think explain also why I stopped writing it—maverick is insanely out of character here!
“some discussion of issues that would affect a female pilot in the 1980s in this one: SA, sexism, etc. u have been warned / i would love to talk to anyone about the politics of this one cause hoo boy i had to think about it / it’s a little personal to me too / i wouldn’t necessarily say i struggle with my gender identity but i do have a really complicated relationship with it / i think this mav is incredibly out of character / it turns out mav’s thoughtless overperformance of masculinity is so ingrained into his character that / if you make it intentional he/she turns into an entirely different character. / i often struggle with writing maverick way way too bitter (there’s something very gentle about tgm mav I struggle replicating) / & this is a VERY bitter & cynical & calculating mav as well. she has to be. But i fear i lose some of mav’s original character in the cynicism. 🤷🏽‍♀️ / that’s why i struggle writing AUs—you lose so much of the original characters who are DEFINED by the stories they’re from / if that makes sense. / i think a female maverick isn’t maverick. / you might as well be writing original fiction at that point. / this 1 shot is pretty much just original fiction. / idk would love to hear ppls thoughts on the fandom philosophy behind AUs / something i would love to think about more / top gun fanfiction / charlotte charlie Blackwood / pete maverick mitchell / Tom iceman kazansky/ nick goose bradshaw / genderbent top gun / charliemav / in this universe mav and Charlie break up and mav gets back together with Penny according to the tgm timeline btw / TGM mav might as well be a lesbian like nothing really has to change in the script at all. / post 2010 tom cruise just gives lesbian. no change necessary / soundtrack for this one is ‘I have a woman inside my soul’ by yoko ono”
I also stopped writing this one because I could not for the life of me figure out how to write goose, canonically a sexist just like mav and ice. made things difficult and a little awkward

i understand why we need the word "emasculated" in academic contexts and/or having discussions about societal standards etc., but i really don't like it when someone's explaination as to why they're upset is they feel "emasculated."
because i feel that for anyone else, it would simply be called a bruised ego. but for men they are "being denied" a sense of superiority they think they are entitled to due to their gender?

I hate working with men
#have a male coworker who has been doing his job HORRENDOUSLY wrong#to the point that everyone else is having to take HOURS of their shifts to fix what he’s fucked up#and APPRENTLY several of my coworkers have tried to talk to him about it and correct him#and he’s been getting so goddamn offended and butthurt over it and acting like he’s not doing anything wrong#(and this is important the ppl who have tried talking to him are all older women. one in her 40s one in her 50s and one in her 60s)#ONE OF WHOM IS OUR DEPARTMENT MANAGER#and I was bitching about him today#and one of them was like ‘well maybe you should try correcting him’#and I was like why 1. not my job I’m not a manager but 2. he’s not listened to anyone else why would he listen to me#and she was like ‘well it will feel less threatening from you less like he’s getting scolded by a mom so he might take it better’#and like. HM! WELL!#I know this is a crazy wild absolutely batshit suggestion#but when a man gets told what to do/corrected by women (who have all been doing this job SIGNIFICANTLY longer)#and his reaction to is to act like a little fucking disrespectful piss baby#WE JUST WRITE HIM UP LIKE WE WOULD ANYONE ELSE INSTEAD OF TRY TO APPEAL TO HIS FWAGIL TEENY TINY EGO#LIKE IDK SEEMS LIKE THE NORMAL COURSE OF ACTION TO ME?????#not make the androgynous goth bitch in their 20s try to correct him cuz I’m SOMEHOW less threatening#I’m read as a woman he’s gonna have the same damn reaction#I just. ugh. UGH#I fucking hate men#kaz rambles

Just wondering bc I don't believe my country actually has gay or lesbian bars . I just saw ( on tiktok ofcourse) many straights also walk into those bars, and most of you don't like it .
But if I just want to socialize as an Aroace can I walk into those bars ?

I love being kidnapped by a d-list villain for like two days because another man has a grudge against my mom <3
do you think I'll still get paid for the days I missed at work?

“Suletta wasn’t much of a protagonist. She wasn’t a very strong protagonist”
SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP.
Actually it’s very important to me that she was sensitive and a sweetheart and cried a lot and apologized a lot and had to overcome a lot of insecurities. It’s actually so important to me that she always chose kindness ESPECIALLY considering that so many other objectives carried out by other characters were revenge based. Being a kind and sensitive character does not negate her strength either. There’s a reason she was the only one able to survive that datastorm. “Bad protagonist” my ass.

idk i think if you get mad at someone for calling themself MLM or autoandrophile and automatically assume that they don't know the history of the words, then you might not be the good guy in the situation.
