Since 2015, I had the privilege of volunteering with an organisation called the @amazonrainforestconservancy 🦥 a education and conservation chairty that grows wild food, medicine and researches new species, educates our youth and so much more. . . These kinds of teams, as well as conservation are needed around the world. Nature is a huge source of inspiration and inner peace for me. . . I feel the devastation from the fires, poaching, agriculture, logging and mining deeply, as I know so many others do, which is why I was compelled into action.  . . It can feel so overwhelming at times when we look at the scope of what is happening around us. How do we recover from something so astonishingly momentous? So much damage, so much pain, so much loss. Where do we start? The big picture always feels a little impossible. Which is why we need to connect for the sake of growth.  . . We may not be able to replace an entire forest in a day, but we tend to underestimate the power of planting one small seed. . . We live in a world of instant messages and express shipping and sometimes this mentality crosses into other aspects of our lives without us realising it. . . So when we look at the scope of what’s in front of us and think we will never recover—it’s too much for us. But we will recover. And everything in nature including us does naturally.  . . It starts by planting one seed. Taking one small step. Making one tiny change. Trust that you have everything you need within and around you, to get through whatever unfolds. . . Remember too, that sustainable change often comes from small, incremental steps and that devastation can foster action that changes and supports a beautiful future.  . . Toronto & Niagara Falls!

Last year we had a lovely quiet new years with friends but this year we decided we wanted to go somewhere exciting. We eventually settled on Toronto and Niagara Falls, somewhere exciting and one of our top bucket list places to visit while were in Canada! 

We flew into Toronto and had a few hours in Toronto itself before our loooong coach ride to Niagara Falls! We went to  les 3 brasseurs for lunch and huge steins of beer with a friend from England who happened to be in town too! 

Then it was onto the coach to the falls, it was dark and late when we arrived but we got out first glimpse of them all lit up in the dark and we were not disappointed! We were tired and decided to call it a night and get some sleep!

The next morning we got our first proper look at the falls, the pictures just dont do it justice, they are absolutely stunning! 

 Next up was tea with a view! 

our first fall day at the falls was also New Years Eve!  We went for a yummy steak dinner then scoped out a good spot to watch the fireworks and ring in the new year! 

The fireworks were great! We then went to the hotel bar for some fuzzy navels! Yum!

The weather on New Years Day was beautiful we had a great time exploring behind the falls!

We also decided to take a trip up the Skylon Tower for lunch and take in the view!

While in Niagara we also decided to visit the Butterfly Conservation where we spent a wonderful afternoon wandering around!

Walking around at night was super nice with all the lights everywhere! 

After a wonderful few days we travelled back into Toronto where we had a few hours to kill before we needed to make our way to the airport for our flight home! 

First on the list was a trip to Uncle Tetsu’s for some Japenese Cheesecake. It was so good we ate the lot in one go! 

quick look at the local sights and then it was back to Calgary!
