OOOH, this seems fun! hm, what's an interesting fact or story about me? oh I know! (get ready it's a long one)
fun fact: one time me and my sister were getting ready to go out for something to do and during this time we were in both in our rooms which are at the other side of the hallway upstairs from our parents room, distracted by getting changed and stuff. During this time my dad was doing a job where he worked outside a lot and he's a messy fucker so he would bring in grass, twigs, stones, you name it, he would bring it home from working in long grass and trimming bushes. Anyway, this comes into play when my sister goes into my parents bedroom then suddenly screams a Harry Potter reference being "TREVOR!!" if you have never watched Harry Potter for some reason then this will all make sense but if you have then um...congratulations you know where this story is heading. I was at first confused because I was just casually getting dressed and then I see her book it down stairs and hear her freaking out, my mum wasn't worried at first that much because all she heard from my sister was... "THERE IS A FROG UPSTAIRS" I strolled my ass to the room, my brain not putting the pieces together yet from all the commotion and look down at this brown thing on the floor thinking "huh, my dogs down have a brown dog treat" then the mf blinks at me and that was the moment it all clicked into place. Luckily being the only real one in my house that isn't afraid of a lot of stuff except from my dad (he wasn't there he was at work so I was the only saviour smh) I legit only said "oh" in response. Yeah, Trevor is the name of a frog in Harry Potter and that was my sisters first reaction, well done big sis, anyway, being the only capable one in the damn house of dealing with basically any animal, I get a bag and skilfully catch the frog dude with one throw (true gamer) and during all of this my mum was finally freaking out as well due to realising the frog was actually in HER room, cause she thought before it was in my sisters and that was why she was so chill about it (way to go mum lol) but in the end I set the guy free outside, but literally the next day we got a CHUNKY ASS TOAD in the garden that I also had to catch, ngl he was kinda heavy and was actually fine with me scooping him in a bag and then letting him go free some where else, so yeah, I'm a certified frog catcher!
My mum also thinks there was a possibility that the frog that went upstairs some how come through the garden door and went through our front room up the stairs since we had the door open for hours late at night but I think it's literally impossible since 1: we were all there so we would have seen it, 2: my dogs would have noticed for sure, one of them loves frogs and 3: that would be a long ass distance for a frog to travel-
I still personally think it was my dad's fault for being a lazy son of a bitch and never checking or emptying out his pockets smh
(screw it what's a fun fact about yourself also @ people I'll go first I'm allergic to myself

LACY - chapter 5
Paige Bueckers x oc
Warnings: internalized homophobia, mature content
A/N: I feel like alot of the last few chapters have been about Layla really struggling with coming to terms with identity/sexuality. Which I wanted to write because I wanted to show the process of really coming to terms with being queer and how it isn’t just something you immediately accept in one night, based on my own experiences personally ofc. So with that being said, I hope someone else can find comfort in her character or relates. (Also forgot to write this in, but for anyone wondering, Layla has been involved “romantically” with guys in the past, but I think it’s just a realization now for her that it was like a cover up for who she actually is, because she’s feeling emotions she’s never felt towards a man, towards a woman if that makes sense. Basically she’s gay lol hope this helps! Which like same girl) Anywayssss sorry for the rant, enjoy loves!
—
When I woke up, the first thing I noticed was the folded note on my bedside table.
I hope you feel better. Text me when you get up.
I exhaled slowly, the events of last night still swirling in my mind. Her low voice, her subtle touches—it made my skin crawl, the way I feel when she touches me. Even if it’s only for a second. The way it made something stir inside me that I couldn’t ignore, but couldn’t accept either.
I grabbed my phone and texted her, my fingers shaking slightly.
Me: Hey, I just woke up. Thanks for taking care of me last night. I’m sorry for being such a mess.
Her reply came quickly, almost like she’d been waiting for me.
Paige: Don’t trip. You’re good. Seriously.
Paige: You feeling better?
Me: Yeah, a little. Thanks again.
There was a short pause before her next message came through.
Paige: Can we talk? In person, if you’re not busy?
I hesitated, biting my lip. I didn’t want to see her, not right now. I’d rather save myself the embarrassment. But I couldn’t avoid it forever.
Me: Sure. You can come over if you want. I’m heading to the gym soon to practice, though.
Paige: Volleyball grind? Big game coming up, right?
Me: Yeah, it’s the regional final this weekend. If we win, we’re in the Final Four.
Paige: No pressure or anything
Me: Tell me about it lol
Paige: Can I come practice with you for fun cause why not? I won’t distract you to much I swear.
I couldn’t help but smile at the thought of her trying to play volleyball.
Me: Ok sure, if you insistttt
When Paige arrived, she was dressed in basketball shorts and a black tee, her hair pulled into a messy bun. Somehow she always looks perfect like all the time. It’s crazy actually.
—
We set up the net, and Paige was already messing around with the volleyball like she had no idea what she was doing. I tossed her the ball.
“Alright, ready?” I asked.
She caught it but didn’t seem to know what to do next. “Uh, sure. Can’t be too hard.”
Her first attempt was… not great to say the least. The ball went flying across the gym, and she just stood there, looking at it like it had betrayed her.
“Okay, so let’s just act like you didn’t see that,” she said, laughing at herself.
I couldn’t help but laugh too, the tension easing just a little. “Maybe try not to hit it like you’re dunking a basketball.”
“Yo I didn’t sign up for this kind of slander, not to much on me,” she said with a grin. “But fine, I’ll try again.”
We kept going, and she got a little better—or at least, less terrible. But I couldn’t focus. My mind kept drifting back to last night, what I asked her in a drunken haze. How awkward it feels that I got drunk and slipped into a vulnerable state where I felt comfortable enough to ask her how she knew she was gay. Like come on Layla, why do you always have to make shit weird.
I tried to push it out of my mind, but when she stood beside me, her shoulder brushing mine as we took a break, I felt a knot tighten in my stomach. The kind of knot that made me want to run. To escape this feeling.
“Layla,” Paige said softly, breaking the silence. “You okay?”
I glanced at her, swallowing hard. “Yeah, I’m fine.”
She didn’t seem convinced. She took a step closer, her eyes searching mine. “You sure? You don’t have to pretend everything’s fine if it’s not, you know this.”
I shook my head, looking down at the ground. “I don’t know what to think anymore, Paige. I don’t even know why I asked you what I did. It just… felt like something I needed to say. I was really drunk and confused I guess. But now, I just feel… weird.”
Paige’s expression shifted, a flicker of something defensive in her eyes. “Weird how?”
I was silent, except for the sound of my breath, heavy and uneven. I could feel the weight of Paige’s words pressing down on me, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that something inside me was breaking. I didn’t know how to fix it.
“I just don’t get it, Layla,” Paige said, her voice a little shaky but firm. “Why are choosing to continuously hurt yourself by denying the facts.”
“I’m not. I just—” I paused, struggling to find the right words. “I don’t want to be that person. I don’t want people to look at me like it’s all they see when I play. I don’t want to be judged. People already say enough disgusting stuff online about queer people. Imagine what they would say if they found out an athlete they looked up to secretly liked the same gender. It would hurt my career so much if people found out Paige, you don’t get it.”
Paige’s face tightened, her blue eyes flashing with anger. “What the hell, Layla? Are you seriously forgetting that I’m gay myself? I would get it. People speculate about my sexuality all the time, and yeah, it’s obvious. Everyone knows it. Sure, there’s a small percentage of people who hate on me for it, and I see it. But if I let that control my life, I’d be a pretty shitty person. People always have their opinions, and most of them are garbage, but you can’t let them define how you see yourself. You’re letting people on the internet make you think you’re wrong for feeling how you feel. It’s fucking ridiculous.”
I flinched at her words, the anger in her voice cutting deeper than I expected. I didn’t answer, my heart pounding in my chest. She was right. She knew exactly what it was like to feel out of place. But I couldn’t help the way I felt.
“I’m sorry,” Paige says quietly, her voice suddenly soft, regret seeping into her tone. “I shouldn’t have said that the way I did at all. I shouldn’t have gotten that mad, I just hate hearing you talk about yourself like that.”
My hands were shaking now, and I wiped at my eyes, feeling the tears I’d been holding back start to fall. I couldn’t stop them. I couldn’t stop any of it.
Paige saw me crying, and her expression softened instantly. She stepped forward, reaching out to gently grab my arms, pulling them away from my face. “Layla, I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have let it get that far. I didn’t mean to upset you.”
I looked up at her, my chest tight. “It’s not you, I just don’t know what to do, Paige. I don’t know how to feel. I don’t know how to make this go away.”
Paige’s eyes softened as she held my arms. “You don’t have to make it go away, Layla. You don’t have to figure it out right now. But please, don’t hate yourself for it. You’re not disgusting, or weird. You’re… you’re perfect just the way you are.”
Her words hit me like a wave, and for the first time, I felt like I could breathe. Like maybe, just maybe, I wasn’t as lost as I thought.
“I really care for you,” Paige continued, her voice low and sincere. Hearing you talk about yourself like that—it hurts me. It hurts to see you think you’re not worth it. You are. You really are.”
My heart skipped a beat, and I felt a surge of warmth in my chest. I stepped closer to her, not sure what I was doing but knowing I needed to be near her. “I’m sorry, too,” I whispered, my voice trembling. “I didn’t mean to make you feel like that.”
She smiled softly, her hand brushing against my cheek. “You don’t need to apologize. I just want you to know you’re not alone in this. I’m here. I’ll always be here.”
I felt a pull in my chest, an undeniable connection that I couldn’t ignore. I leaned in slightly, my breath catching in my throat. I was close enough to feel the warmth of her skin, to see the way her blue eyes softened, the way her pink lips parted just slightly. My heart raced, the air thick with unspoken words, with everything we hadn’t said yet.
For a moment, everything seemed to stop. The world around us faded, leaving just the two of us in this fragile, suspended moment. I could hear the soft sound of her breathing, the way it matched mine, both of us caught in the tension that had been building between us.
I barely registered that I was moving closer until our noses were almost touching, the smallest breath between us. I could feel the heat of her body against mine, the way her cologne lingered in the air, intoxicating and all-consuming. I could feel the pull, stronger now, undeniable, and it was like something inside me snapped.
I couldn’t stop myself. I leaned in, closing the space between us, and my lips brushed against hers in the softest kiss. It was tentative at first, a question, a hesitation, but it felt right. Her lips were warm and inviting, soft as velvet, and I couldn’t help but press into her, deepening the kiss just slightly, my hands finding their way to her neck, pulling her closer.
Her lips moved against mine with a gentle pressure, and I responded instinctively, my body leaning into hers, craving more. There was no fear, no doubt. Just the rush of the moment, the way her touch made everything else fade away. It felt right.
But then, just as quickly as it started, I pulled away, breathless, my chest heaving. I looked at her, my heart pounding in my ears, and I saw the same intensity reflected in her eyes.
“Paige,” I whispered, my voice shaky. “I—”
She didn’t give me a chance to finish. Before I could say another word, she pulled me back to her, her lips crashing against mine with a hunger that took me by surprise. This time, there was no hesitation, no softness. Her hands were on my waist, pulling me even closer, and I could feel the urgency in her kiss, the way she needed me as much as I needed her.
I kissed her back with everything I had, my hands threading through her hair, pulling her even closer, if that was even possible. I could feel the heat between us, the way our bodies pressed together, desperate to feel more. It was a kiss that left no room for doubt, no space for anything but the raw, overwhelming undeniable connection between us.

Iris
summary: you go looking for JJ after a big fight with his dad and it ends with a confession of feelings
a/n: it was supposed to be based on that song but i got kinda carried away so this will have to do lol, also, i was too lazy to proofread so let me know if you spot any mistakes
wc: 1.8k
warnings: swearing, angst, mentions of JJ's dad (deserves a warning), happy ending tho
“Have you guys seen JJ?” You barge into the chateau where all of your friends are currently watching a movie on John B’s old and kind of broken TV. Well, everyone except one.
“Weren’t you two supposed to go ‘midnight surfing’ together?” Kiara asks from her spot on the floor. Even if she would’ve fit on the couch, she preferred to sit on the floor as she found it more comfortable.
“We were but he never showed up.” Your voice is full of worry. He never just stands you up like this. He’s late all the time but he always shows up eventually. He’d never do this to you intentionally which is why you’re so worried in the first place.
“He probably just fell asleep,” John B butts in, eyes glued to the TV screen in the corner of the room.
“Yeah, go check his place, see if he’s home,” Kie suggests. “Do you want me to come with you?”
You shake your head. “No, it’s fine. Stay and enjoy your movie. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
You rush out of there as fast as you arrived, grabbing your bicycle and biking towards JJ’s house.
JJ doesn’t live very far away so you’re there in a couple of minutes. In fact you can reach everywhere in Kildare in a very short amount of time. It’s a small place.
Leaving your bike in the driveway, you creep up to the window of his bedroom. You didn’t want to take the risk of knocking on the door and running into JJ’s dad. It’s a small risk since he’s away most of the time but it’s a risk you’re not willing to take.
The light in his room is not on but the light from the moon reveals enough, he’s not there. If JJ’s not in his room he’s not home. It’s as simple as that.
Your worry increases. If he’s not at the chateau and if he’s not at home, where the hell is he?
You walk back to where you left your bike and start walking away from there, pushing the bike beside you. You need a second to think. Where could he be?Why didn’t he call? Did something happen? With his dad maybe? It’s very possible. JJ’s dad is not known for his kind heart and sweet words. You suspect that might be the cause because nothing else could make JJ miss hanging out with you. Especially without saying anything.
Where would you go if you were JJ?
You walk and ponder for a while. There are not very many places JJ would go in a time like this. Usually he goes to the chateau or your place because they’re more his home than his actual home ever was.
Then it dawns on you. There’s this place that JJ showed you a couple of months ago. He made you swear not to tell anyone. Even made you pinky swear. He said it’s his secret spot, somewhere he goes when he needs a moment alone and space to think.
It’s a really beautiful place and it became your favourite spot too. It’s not far from the chateau but it’s hidden enough to be private. There’s a big oak tree near a small creek. When it’s sunny, the sun shines through the leaves and makes the water sparkle and it’s magical. Beautiful, really.
You’re sure that’s where he must be.
Hopping onto your bike you ride there in a record time. You leave your bike at the side of the road and push through the bushes and trees to reach this secret spot of JJ’s. Well, yours too now.
And there he is. JJ’s sitting on the ground, on the green soft moss, his back leaning against the oak tree. His knees are pulled up to his chest and his hands are resting on them. Even if he hears you approaching, he doesn’t turn his head to look. He just keeps looking ahead.
It’s even more magical in the middle of the night than it is during the day.
You sit down beside him carefully so as not to startle him. “Hey,” you say softly.
His face is covered in various cuts and bruises.
“What are you doing here?” His voice is raspy and devoid of all emotion. He still won’t look at you.
“I came looking for you. You didn’t show at the beach. I was worried.”
“You shouldn’t have.” He throws a rock into the creek and the splash of water sounds so loud in the quiet of the night.
“What? Why?”
He stays quiet. His lips are pulled between his teeth as if to specifically stop himself from speaking.
“JJ, talk to me.” You place your hand on his.
“Got into it with my dad again. It’s nothing. Just go.” He shrugs your hand off, physically pulling away from you. It hurts because JJ never denies physical touch from you. In fact, he craves it. He initiates it most of the time. His hands are always on you no matter what. It’s one of the things you love about him so much. Among many other things.
“You shouldn’t be alone here.”
“I don’t want you here right now,” he bursts out, finally looking at you. His eyes are red and so full of hurt.
You're taken aback by his words, mouth agape at his outburst. “What?”
“You heard me. I don’t want you here. So just go home. I don’t care.”
“I’m not going anywhere.” Even though his words hurt, you stand your ground and don’t back down. He needs you there. At least, you’d need him in a situation like this, you think.
“Then I’m going.” He stands up and starts to leave.
You shoot up from the ground and grab his hand to stop him.
“Let go of me.” He stops and stares at your hand gripping his wrist. It must be painful with the way you're digging your nails into his skin but you don’t let go.
“No.”
“Y/N…” he warns, his tone low and angry.
“You’re not going anywhere.”
“Let the fuck go of me.” He’s actually angry now but doesn’t make a move. You know he doesn’t actually want to go.
You’re desperate now. “Why won’t you talk to me? I’m right here JJ.”
“I want to be alone right now.”
“Do you really?”
“Yes.”
“You’re a fucking liar.”
He seems genuinely taken aback by that. “Excuse me?”
“You fight with your dad all the time. And I get it, it’s hard and I’m sorry. But you never pull away from me like that. Never. I know you like the back of my hand, JJ. There’s something you’re not telling me.”
“It’s none of your fucking business,” he snarls.
“Your problems are my problems, right? Isn’t that what you said to me when I was sick last month and you wouldn’t leave my side? What happened to that, huh?”
There’s a beat of silence where the only things heard are the running water, rustling of leaves and your angry breathing.
He sighs and you feel him relax in your grip but you still won’t let go, scared that he’ll flee as soon as you do.
“We fought.”
“I know.”
“About you.”
Now you’re genuinely aghast. “What?” You blink in confusion, your grip on his hand loosening.
“He said some stuff I can never say to you and I couldn’t see you after that. I couldn’t bear the thought of facing you after the things he said.”
“What did he say?”
“I won’t tell you.”
“Tell me.”
“No. And don’t fucking argue because I will take those words to grave with me. I’ll make sure of that.”
You nod. Maybe it’s for the best.
“Are you okay?” you ask.
“Am I okay?” he chuckles dryly. “Never been better. I feel like a fucking loser, a failure with an asshole for a dad. And I’m so fucking alone that it physically hurts in here.” He places his hand right over his heart.
“You’re none of those things, JJ. Not to anyone, not to me.”
“Who’s the fucking liar now?”
“I’m not fucking lying, JJ!” You force him to look into your eyes. “Your dad might be an asshole, a big one at that, but you’re not a failure or a loser. I don’t know how but didn’t turn out like him. You have a future. He threw it away. And you’re not alone. You have us,” you refer to your friends. “And you have me.”
You place your other hand on his hand that’s still on his chest. “You’ll always have me.”
“Not in the way I want. Not in the way I need.”
You furrow your brows in confusion. “What do you mean?”
“You know, I’ve never taken anyone here before.” He looks around his secret little getaway. “You’re the first person I’ve shown it to. The only one I thought it was worth showing to.”
Your eyes remain on his face as he talks, taking in his features.
“I’ve never wanted to take anyone here before. I didn't understand why I wanted to show you this place so badly. Why it mattered to me if you liked it or not? And then I realized I’m in love with you and I’m absolutely fucked.”
I blink slowly, mouth agape, as I try to process his words. “You’re in love with me?”
“Yeah. And I know it’s stupid and I’m sorry.”
“Why are you apologizing?”
“Because it fucking ruins everything. You’re never gonna wanna speak to me again and things are gonna be so awkward and-”
I interrupt his rambling. “Have you even asked me what I feel?”
“What?”
“You go on this tangent about how your feelings for me are horrible but you don’t even know how I feel. So ask me. Ask me what I feel for you, JJ.”
“What do you feel for me?”
“I feel like I want to hit you, JJ. I’ve been in love with you for like… ever and you didn’t even seem to notice. I’ve made it very clear. Hell, everyone else except you knows that I’m head over heels for your stupid ass.”
“Are you serious?” he asks.
“Of course I’m fucking serious, JJ. You think I’d tell you this for shits and giggles?”
“You-” he wants to say something but seems to think twice and before you know it his lips are on yours. His hands are on the sides of your face, pulling you close. You melt against his body, wrapping your arms around his torso.
“That was for shits and giggles.” He pulls away, completely out of breath.
“Totally,” you say and pull him back against your lips for another kiss.
“But I mean it, JJ,” you state when you finally separate again.
“What?”
“I’ll always be here for you. Through the bad and through the good. Always. I promise.”
“So do I.”
“You better,” you jokingly threaten and he laughs at that.
“Do you wanna go to the chateau? The others are watching a movie right now.”
He denies your offer. “No, I’d rather stay here with you for now. If that’s okay?”
“It can be arranged.” You smile up at him and his face lights up.
“Good.”

we need more macklin fics and fluff bc that one was actually so cute. i need more asap 🩷
sorority formal
still debating if i should make a macklin au to add to my samy + will verse (HAHA my own fanfic verse??) but here’s some more fluff between the lovely rookie and his gf from santa clara university :) — also cleaning out my inbox so that’s why i’ve posted four times in a row LOL
also if this is bad i’m so sorry. i lowkey awkwardly switch between 2nd person and 3rd person pov sometimes so apologies for that. otherwise, i’m really starting to like writing about mack 😌 (slight allusion to sex but there’s no sex actually described just kissing)
masterlist
macklin had never been to a college sorority formal before, nor did he really understand what it was or what to expect, but he agreed to be your date nonetheless. plus, the look on your face was hard to say no to when you asked him two weeks ago.
the brunette was in his room trying to find the right suit to wear while will sat in the corner on his phone. he knew a little bit from when he was at boston, but he never found any interest in going to those frat and sorority parties, so the rookie was a bit in the dark when it came to this stuff.
will wasn’t much help either.
“i dunno man. i’ve never been to a sorority formal before. i assume it’s the same as any other formal? i’ve been to samy’s soccer banquet,” will shrugged, watching his friend try on his third suit.
“y/n said to just wear something neutral. her dress is pink i think,” macklin explained as he examined the dark navy suit in the mirror.
“i think that looks fine. navy and pink go well?” will nodded.
“i’m kind of nervous. is that bad? i don’t really know what to expect,” obviously, he didn’t want to make y/n look like a fool at her own sorority, so the boy’s nerves were at an all time high at the moment. what if he did something stupid?
“samy texted me back and she said it’s like prom but for college. there will be food and drinks and then you dance if you want. some sororities will do speeches or superlatives,” will read off the text his girlfriend just sent him.
“oh, okay. that’s not too bad then. i’ll be fine,” macklin assured himself and decided on the navy blue suit.
“yeah, it will be chill. you basically get to spend a whole night with your girlfriend,” will grinned and the brunette couldn’t help but smile at the thought. he hadn’t seen you in a few days because of your crazy busy schedules, so having this night to yourselves would be nice.
“yeah, you’re right. it will be chill and we’ll have fun,”macklin was basically saying positive affirmations to himself at this point which made will chuckle. he stood up to help his friend with his suit.
“don’t even sweat it, dude. she’s gonna love you,” the blonde assured and if will thought so, then macklin was gonna believe it.
once he was finished getting dressed, he grabbed his phone to let you know he was on his way over to your dorm. the boy rushed through the house, double checking his pockets that he had phone (check), keys (check), wallet (check), and a small bouquet he decided picking up for you because he knew you liked flowers.
“knock ‘em dead!” will called from the porch as macklin got into his car.
the brunette drove the short drive to the university. being new to driving in the states still and the nerves about tonight made his hands a bit shaky as he turned onto the drive that led to your dorm. he didn’t need to sweat this. it was you. y/n. his girlfriend. there was no reason for him to be nervous about some sorority formal.
he parked in the lot and climbed out, doing a third check that he had all of his belongings. you were waiting in the lobby for him after getting his text about being on his way. the hockey player stopped in his tracks though when he laid eyes on you.
your strapless, silky dress stopped around your ankles where he could see your pretty white heels. your hair was down like it usual was and macklin was pretty sure his pupils turned to hearts.
“hi,” you grinned when he got closer.
“hi..wow..you look..” the boy lost his words making you laugh.
“you look pretty..wow,” you complimented his navy suit.
“s-so do you. wow..i..i’m in awe,” he admitted earning a bright blush on your cheeks.
“you’re sweet. are these for me?” you noticed the bouquet wobbling in his hands. the brunette quickly flushed and handed them over to you.
“yes, sorry. they are.”
you admired the pretty pink and red petals, “thank you. these are pretty. wanna come up for a second so i can put them in water?” it wasn’t really a question because macklin was going to follow you regardless.
the two of you stepped into the elevator. mack’s nerves were now because of how beautiful you looked beside him and he didn’t know how to express it other than telling you and the building desire to kiss you. he followed you down to your dorm. your roommate grinned at him.
“hey mack,” maya waved.
“hey maya,” he waved back.
“look, he brought me flowers,” you showed maya the pretty bouquet.
“wow, brownie points for the hockey player,” she teased a bit which made him flush. he watched you find a vase and fill it with water from your bathroom. you came back out and placed the flowers into the vase.
“like them?” you asked for his opinion.
“i like them,” he nodded.
“i’ll put them by my desk for now. thank you, again,” you pecked his cheek.
“of course,” the boy was glad you liked them and he was glad he decided on getting them the other day because the smile on your face was so worth it after spending an hour at the store trying to pick them out.
“okay, we’re gonna head out now. we’ll be back later,” you called to maya who threw up a thumbs up.
“have fun! don’t get too drunk.”
you went back down the elevator and then out of the building where you latched your arm with mack’s. he rubbed your hand and leaned in to kiss your forehead.
“it’s not far from here,” you explained as you led the way.
“i’ve never been to one of these before,” the boy admitted a bit nervously.
“don’t worry, it’s so chill. you’ll get to meet some of my sorority sisters, we’ll eat, dance, drink some, and then we can leave whenever,” you explained and it eased some of mack’s nerves a bit more hearing you explain it. as much as he appreciated samy’s brief explanation, he also liked hearing it come from your lips too.
the two of you came up on one of the college bars in the area. it was already blasting music that could be heard from outside. macklin followed you inside where you were immediately greeted with security to check your ids. you both got little x’s on your hands meaning neither of you were 21. mack’s gaze flicked around the space that was dimly lit and pumping base through his bones.
“omg, y/n, hey!” a girl greeted you.
“hi jen, you look gorgeous!” you admired your friend’s dress.
“no you do! is this your boyfriend?” she turned her attention to mack.
“yes, this is macklin,” you gripped his arm again and the boy managed a tiny smile.
“nice to meet you. i’m jen, the sorority president. come on in. we have food in the back and drinks at the bar so get whatever,” jen explained.
you quickly led macklin to the back because you were starving. the boy watched you take a plate so he copied whatever you did. you laughed at his behavior.
“don’t be so nervous, mack.”
“sorry. just getting used to it all,” he said. he’d never been into a bar before because he wasn’t old enough first of all and if he was caught underage drinking he’d definitely get a mean punishment from his coach.
“it’s okay. it’s overwhelming, but i’m right here remember,” you assured and some of the worries eased hearing you say that. macklin offered a grateful smile as he followed your lead with the food and then followed you to a seat.
you sat with some other girls and their dates which got all of you quickly talking. the more you talked, the more comfortable macklin became and flushed when a few people recognized him as a hockey player. being next to you made him feel a lot more comfortable too. seeing you look so calm and content helped him do the same and by the time you were done eating, he was having a full conversation with some of the guys without you involved.
“let’s get pictures!” one girl exclaimed when she came around with her camera.
you pulled mack up. he eagerly wrapped his arm around your waist, the two of you smiling wide as the flash went off—almost blinding you guys because it was so bright and the room was so dark.
“aw, you guys look adorable,” the girl spun the camera around so you could see the preview. macklin quickly kissed your cheek.
“i love it, thanks,” you said.
you guys ventured back towards the center of the dance floor to start dancing along with the others. macklin was big on getting to dance, so he took full advantage, urging you to join his energy. you giggled at the way he bounced on his feet and pulled out his best dance moves for you.
when everyone started coming onto the floor, it got warm fast so the brunette lost his suit jacket leaving him in just his dress shirt that was almost halfway unbuttoned by now. his arms were around your waist, the two of you swaying to the beat and being in your own world together.
any anxiety the rookie felt earlier had completely disappeared being in the center of the dance floor with you. all that mattered to him was you in his arms as he spun you around.
“did i tell you how gorgeous you look?” the boy leaned in closer as he spoke over the music.
“you did, yes,” you grinned.
“well i’ll tell you again. you look gorgeous. prettiest girl here,” his words earned a bright blush on your cheeks.
“you’re too sweet, mack.”
“i’m serious, y/n/n. you’re beautiful,” he leaned in closer, still wanting that kiss he hadn’t gotten yet. you saw his request and closed the gap.
the two of you shared a sweet kiss, not caring that there were others around you or watching. your lips felt like heaven against the hockey player’s. he never wanted to let you go, but forced himself to to get some air back into his lungs.
“i could kiss you forever,” he mumbled.
“me too,” and you reconnected your lips for another quick kiss. mack’s hands wandered a bit lower towards your hips and then swiping over your ass. a giggle left your lips at his behavior.
“we should save this for the dorm,” you smiled while directing him away for now. a little pout appeared, but he understood and let you go.
the music picked up again and it had him spinning you around once more. because all of his focus was on hockey growing up, the brunette’s never had an experience of going to an end of the year dance or prom or anything, so he was glad he was getting to make this up with you right now.
as the night winded down, you and macklin decided to leave. he threw his suit jacket over your shoulders for the quick five minute walk back to your dorm. you appreciated his gesture, tugging it closer to your body to hide yourself from the semi-cold evening temperatures.
“thanks for coming tonight,” you smiled as you rode the elevator.
“of course. i had a lot of fun. thanks for bringing me,” mack returned your smile.
“i’m glad you did. better get ready for next semester,” you teased a bit and mack’s heart swelled just a little bit at the idea of coming back to your formal because that meant you wanted him enough to stick around for the next one.
he knew what you two had meant a lot to both of you, but sometimes he got in his head just a little bit wondering if he was good enough for you or not enough because he was some big shot hockey player and he knew what everyone thought about hockey players. he worried he wasn’t the one for you even though you were 100% the one for him. he knew it from the day he met you, so hearing you say that made him burst with joy.
maya wasn’t in the dorm, probably taking the hint that you guys wanted the room to yourselves. macklin was glad because he wanted to continue that kissing you guys were doing earlier.
he watched you hang up his suit jacket like you did every time he brought his suits with him and kick your shoes off. he followed suit and then didn’t waste another second bringing your lips to his again.
that urge he’s had all night only got stronger the more he kissed you. you reciprocated all of his actions and unspoken wants, pulling your hand through his pretty brunette locks and running your hand down his chest.
“i love you,” the boy mumbled between kisses.
“i love you,” you breathed.
he found your gaze for a second, wondering if this was right. wondering if you were sure about him. his thoughts were answered though when you grabbed ahold of his face to kiss him again and lead him to your bed.
needless to say, all of his anxieties were eased by the end of the night and the love he had for you had never been bigger.

It’ll Always Be Her Chapter 11
AN: This was one of my favorite chapters to write so it’s definitely on the longer side so prepare for that lol. Let me know what you think and if there’s anything specific you want to see in this story or another one.
Warning: Suggestive content/language
Word Count: 8.2k
After their stellar game, Paige and Azzi sat side by side at the press table, still riding the high of their combined 49 points. The room buzzed with energy, and reporters were eager to hear more about the game, as well as any upcoming plans. Paige and Azzi exchanged a brief glance, their chemistry impossible to miss, even before the first question was asked.
A reporter from the local sports network, tall and holding a microphone, cleared his throat. “Paige, Azzi, you two were on fire tonight. The chemistry on the court was undeniable. Can you speak to how your partnership has evolved this season? What’s been the key to making this dynamic work?”
Paige grinned and leaned slightly toward Azzi, her fingers tapping lightly on the table. “Well, Azzi and I have been working together for a while now,” Paige began, her voice light but genuine. “I think we’ve just gotten to know each other’s style. We’ve figured out when to take control and when to give each other space.”
Azzi shot Paige a playful glance. “Yeah, space,” she teased, leaning a little closer to Paige. “But also, she makes me look good. I’m basically just along for the ride, right?”
Paige rolled her eyes, chuckling. “Oh, please. You know you’re carrying us half the time.”
Azzi raised an eyebrow, nudging Paige under the table. “Alright, alright, but you have been keeping up this season,” she said, her voice smooth and teasing. “You deserve some of the credit.”
Paige grinned, clearly enjoying the banter. “And you’re doing your part to make sure I don’t slack off,” she responded, her hand brushing against Azzi’s. “But, hey, you’re the one always talking about how we’re the best duo.”
The same reporter again, “How exactly do your skill sets fit one another.”
Paige nodded towards Azzi, showing that she wanted her to answer the question.
Azzi looked at Paige, feigning frustration. “Well, clearly you’ve been talking the entire time. You answer this one,” she said, nudging Paige again, this time with a little more force.
Paige raised an eyebrow, giving Azzi a pointed look. “Oh, I see how it is. I’ve been talking all this time, huh? You can’t just leave me to handle it.”
Azzi smirked and, under the table, playfully jabbed Paige in the leg. “You’re good at answering, so go ahead.”
Paige shook her head, fighting a smile. “Fine, fine. Since you’re so tired from carrying the team,” she said, grinning before she turned back to the reporter. “Like I was saying, it’s all about balance. Azzi’s got the worlds most perfect shot, and I have the court vision and pull to get her the ball. We’re a perfect match.”
The reporter smiled, clearly enjoying their dynamic. “It’s definitely a great partnership. You both played with such intensity tonight. How do you manage to stay focused and not let distractions get in the way of such a big game?”
Azzi leaned forward, her hand subtly brushing against Paige’s again under the table. “Well, staying focused is easy when you’ve got someone like Paige on the court. We’ve been working together for a while, and we know what we need to do to keep it together when the game gets intense,” Azzi answered smoothly, giving Paige a quick wink that the cameras can’t see.
Paige smirked and leaned back slightly in her chair, shooting Azzi a knowing look. “I guess Azzi just has to keep me in line when I get too fired up. It’s her job to calm me down.”
Azzi let out a playful sigh, pretending to be exasperated. “It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it.”
The second reporter, a woman with short, dark hair and glasses, raised her hand. “Paige, Azzi, you two clearly have a great bond on the court, but with everything that comes with your visibility—media, fans—how do you manage the pressure and stay focused on what’s important?”
Paige chuckled, turning to Azzi with a teasing grin. “Oh, I think we’re doing just fine managing the ‘pressure.’ It’s all about trust, right?”
Azzi smirked, leaning toward Paige as if sharing a private joke. “Totally. I trust that you’ll answer every single question while I just… relax here,” she said with a goofy smile, while she visibly grabs Paige’s arm.
Paige rolled her eyes but played along, shifting her posture a bit. “Like I was saying earlier it’s all about trust and knowing where one another is in the court. Today there was a little miss hap where I thought Azzi was going to cut but she flared to the three point line which she teased me about.”
Azzi leaned in even closer, her voice lowering playfully. “I know. It’s a burden, but I handle it well.” Her hand subtly brushed against Paige’s leg once more, the touch lingering for a moment. “You’ll get it next time.”
Paige kept her cool, a slight flush creeping up her neck as she tried to focus on the interview. The two of them shared an unspoken understanding, and the chemistry between them was palpable, though they kept things lighthearted for the cameras.
“Anything else you’d like to share with your fans before the holidays?” the reporter asked, wrapping up the interview.
Paige exchanged a glance with Azzi, both of them aware of the upcoming trip to Virginia. “Well, I think we’ll both be heading out soon for some family time,” Paige said casually, though there was a spark in her eyes as she looked at Azzi. “But we’re not slowing down, not one bit. We’ll definitely still be putting some work in though.”
Azzi smiled, the playful tension still hanging in the air. “Definitely not. We’ve got more to prove, and we’re ready for whatever comes next. But for now, it’s time to recharge a little.”
As the reporters wrapped up, Paige and Azzi stood, their chemistry clear to everyone in the room. Azzi flashed a grin and gave Paige a playful nudge under the table, making sure no one could miss the subtle connection between them
…
After the post-game interview, Azzi and Paige headed to Azzi's room to shower. They didn’t waste any time, opting to take a quick shower together. Once they were done, they got dressed and made their way downstairs, where Katie and Tim, Azzi’s parents, were waiting by the car.
The drive to Virginia started off lively, with plenty of jokes and banter between Paige and Azzi, as she was practically a part of the family. Paige was extremely close with Azzi’s parents, and it was clear from the way they interacted. Katie and Tim couldn’t help but laugh at their lighthearted teasing.
However, as the drive wore on and the excitement from the game wore off, both Azzi and Paige started to drift off. The conversation died down, and the car became quiet, save for the soft hum of the engine and the occasional chuckle from Katie or Tim who were talking in the front.
By the time Tim pulled into the driveway, both Azzi and Paige had curled up in the backseat, exhausted from the game. They had spread across all three seats, Azzi draped comfortably over Paige’s chest like it was second nature.
Katie glanced in the rearview mirror and shook her head, a soft smile on her face as she looked at the two of them. “I wonder when those two are going to admit their feelings for one another,” she commented, not realizing how accurate her words were. Tim, glancing over at Katie, simply chuckled in response, unaware that Azzi and Paige had already confessed to each other long ago.
Azzi and Paige were still half-asleep when they stumbled out of the car, dragging themselves into the house and heading straight to Azzi’s room. They didn’t even bother changing out of their sweats; both of them collapsed into the bed, barely able to keep their eyes open before they fell asleep, the events of the day finally catching up to them.
…
The next morning Azzi woke up groggily, her eyes fluttering open to the soft morning light filtering through the window. For a moment, she lay there, disoriented, before realizing something felt off. She turned her head, scanning the empty space beside her. Paige wasn’t there. Azzi deciding to get up to find the blonde brushed her teeth before going downstairs.
As she made her way downstairs, still in her sweats and a loose shirt, Azzi couldn’t help but wonder where Paige had gone. When she rounded the corner into the living room, she found her, and the sight made her stop dead in her tracks.
Paige was sitting on the couch, focused on a game of Fortnite with Jose. Her grey sweats and hoodie did little to mask her allure, the casual attire only making her look more effortlessly sexy. She was sitting with her legs spread wide, she was slightly leaned over both of her hands wrapped around the controller playing the game. Her hair was pulled up into a messy bun, and her entire posture exuded an effortless confidence that made Azzi's heart skip a beat.
Azzi’s eyes involuntarily flickered to Paige’s legs, they looked inviting the way she had them spread open, practically begging Azzi to crawl into her lap. But they were surrounded by Azzi’s family, and that probably wasn’t the best idea yet. So instead, after hugging her family, Azzi walked over and sat beside Paige on the couch, her feet lightly brushing against Paige’s spread legs. Without a second thought, Azzi swung her legs over, draping them casually across Paige's lap. Her feet hung off the edge, just out of the open space between Paige's legs, but the intimacy of the gesture wasn’t lost on either of them.
Paige didn’t look up immediately, but Azzi could feel the subtle shift in the air. Her teasing smile lingered as she leaned back, her head resting on the arm of the couch, trying to act casual but unable to keep the warmth spreading through her chest at the closeness of their bodies. Paige, finally having a chance to address Azzi’s presence, turned her head, her smile wide and playful as she paused her game.
"Hey, you," Paige said, her voice warm, but there was a playful glint in her eyes. "You look like you slept like a rock."
Azzi raised an eyebrow, leaning closer as she responded, "That’s because I did. The bed wasn’t comfortable without you in it, though."
Paige's grin widened, and she placed a hand on Azzi’s leg, letting it rest there for a beat too long. "Well, I’m glad you’re here now," she teased, her touch sending a thrill up Azzi’s spine.
Azzi felt the heat rise in her cheeks but refused to break eye contact. "Yeah, yeah. Just don’t get too cocky," she teased back, shifting her legs slightly on Paige’s lap, enjoying the intimacy but trying to play it cool in front of her family.
Katie, overhearing them, smirked from the kitchen, shaking her head as she continued preparing breakfast. Tim glanced over with a knowing look, but neither of them said anything—this was just another morning with Azzi and Paige being, well, Azzi and Paige.
…
The day passed in a comforting haze. Paige and Azzi had spent most of their time settling into the house, helping Katie and Tim with small chores, and simply basking in the warm atmosphere of family. The couple didn’t need to hide their affection too much—they blended so seamlessly into the family dynamic that no one batted an eye at their closeness.
As evening rolled around, the smell of roasted vegetables and seasoned meats filled the air, signaling dinner was approaching. Paige was helping set the table when Azzi’s grandmother, seated in the armchair, casually brought up a topic that made Azzi nearly drop the glass she was holding.
“Oh, Azzi,” her grandmother began, folding her hands neatly in her lap. “I ran into Josh’s mother at the store yesterday. I told her you were in town, and she said Josh should stop by.”
Azzi froze, the name alone sending an uncomfortable jolt through her. “Josh?” she repeated, her voice betraying her disbelief. “Prom date Josh?”
“Yes, that Josh!” her grandmother confirmed with a delighted smile. “He’s such a sweet boy. I thought it would be nice for you two to catch up.”
Azzi blinked, her heart racing. She stole a quick glance at Paige, who was watching with a barely concealed smirk, clearly enjoying the situation. Azzi cleared her throat. “Uh, I’m not sure that’s a good idea, Grandma. It’s been… a long time. It’d probably be awkward.”
“Nonsense,” her grandmother said, waving a dismissive hand. “You two were such good friends. What’s a little catching up?”
Paige chuckled softly from the other side of the table, shaking her head. “Yeah, Azzi,” she teased, her tone laced with playful sarcasm. “What’s a little catching up?”
Azzi shot her a look but couldn’t stop her lips from twitching upward. This was going to be interesting.
…
An hour later, just as the family was putting the finishing touches on dinner, the doorbell rang. Azzi’s heart sank as her grandmother rushed to answer it, her voice warm and welcoming as she greeted Josh.
When Josh walked in, he looked almost exactly the same as Azzi remembered—tall, lean, and carrying himself with the easy confidence of someone who knew he’d been invited somewhere fondly. He opened his arms for a hug, his face lighting up when he saw Azzi. “Azzi! It’s been forever.”
Azzi stepped forward but, instead of leaning into the hug, extended her hand. “Hey, Josh. Long time no see.” She gave him a polite smile, keeping her distance. Josh’s enthusiasm dimmed slightly as he adjusted, shaking her hand instead.
Before he could say anything else, Paige rose from her seat behind Azzi. Her 6 '1 frame behind Azzi immediately drew Josh’s attention, and the very subtle height difference was enough to give Paige a slight edge. She stepped forward, lingering just behind Azzi, her movements relaxed but deliberate, and extended her hand with a confident smile.
“Wassup, I’m Paige,” she said, her tone polite but laced with something unmistakably coy. “Azzi’s best friend.”
Josh hesitated for a second, shaking her hand, his grip firm but uncertain. “Nice to meet you,” he said, his eyes flickering between Paige and Azzi.
Paige, ever the picture of calm, walked over and dropped back onto the couch next to Jon and Jose. She sprawled out, legs spread wide, her arms resting over the back as the three of them continued whatever they were doing. It was a casual posture, but there was an unmistakable aura of dominance that filled the room. Azzi couldn’t help but steal glances, her mind wandering as her eyes traced the curve of Paige’s jaw and the way her hoodie hung off her shoulders.
Josh, seemingly oblivious to the tension simmering beneath the surface, started chatting with Azzi about old high school memories. Azzi responded politely, but her answers weren’t as enthusiastic, her body language leaning away from the boy. Paige, meanwhile, stayed quiet, her smirk growing as she noticed Azzi’s constantly looking at her.
The dining room was alive with chatter as the family settled in for dinner. The table was packed, with Katie and Tim at either end, Azzi’s grandparents on one side with Jon and Jose who were across from Azzi and Paige who sat next time one another. Josh, much to Paige’s amusement, sat beside Azzi, wedged awkwardly between her and Tim in a corner portion of the table.
Paige leaned back in her chair, content as she watched the plates pass around. The smell of roasted vegetables, seasoned meats, and fresh rolls filled the room. It was cozy, warm, the kind of family gathering that Paige had come to cherish.
“So, Azzi,” her grandmother began, breaking the peaceful rhythm of clinking silverware. “Remember I told you I ran into Josh’s mother at the store the other day.” Essentially repeating her and Azzi’s conversation earlier, her way of casually bringing up the boy sitting next to Azzi.
Azzi’s hand, mid-reach for a roll, froze. “Yes?” she said, her voice a little too high, a little too careful.
“Yes,” her grandmother said, her eyes lighting up. “We had the nicest chat. Such a sweet woman. I told her you were in town, and she thought Josh should stop by.”
Azzi blinked, her throat tightening. “You did?” she asked, feigning surprise as they’ve already had this conversation, though her tone betrayed her growing discomfort.
Paige, sitting relaxed beside her, was already smirking. Azzi felt her foot nudge against Paige’s under the table—a silent plea for support. Paige, of course, ignored it.
“He’s such a sweet boy,” her grandmother continued, her smile unwavering. “I thought it’d be lovely for you two to catch up. You always got along so well.”
Josh chuckled, his cheeks reddening slightly. “It’s been a while,” he said, looking at Azzi. “But yeah, I’d love to catch up.”
Azzi forced a polite smile, her fingers tightening slightly around her fork. “Grandma, I’m not sure that’s such a good idea,” she said, her voice measured. “We haven’t seen each other in years. It might be…awkward.”
“Nonsense!” her grandmother waved her hand as if brushing away Azzi’s concerns. “You’re both grown now. What’s a little catching up?”
Paige chuckled, the sound low and teasing. “Yeah, Azzi,” she said, drawing out her words with a playful edge. “What’s a little catching up?”
Azzi shot her a glare, but Paige’s eyes sparkled with mischief, clearly enjoying her discomfort. Then, beneath the table, Paige’s hand found its way to Azzi’s knee, her fingers brushing lightly before settling in a gentle but suggestive grip. The touch was subtle, yet deliberate enough to send a jolt through Azzi. She shifted slightly, fighting to keep her expression neutral as a flush crept up her neck.
Katie, picking up on Azzi’s discomfort, stepped in. “Mom, Azzi’s got a lot on her plate,” she said, her tone calm but firm. “I’m sure she’d love to catch up another time, but maybe not this visit.”
Josh, trying to stay polite, smiled. “It’s all good. I don’t want to impose or anything.”
“Oh, it’s no imposition,” her grandmother insisted, clearly not ready to drop the subject. “It’s so rare to have everyone together these days. Besides, I think you two made a lovely couple at prom.”
Azzi nearly choked on her drink. “Grandma, that was years ago.”
“And yet, here you are,” her grandmother said, her tone as cheerful as ever. “Such a handsome boy, don’t you think, Paige?”
Paige, who had been quietly enjoying the spectacle, raised an eyebrow at the sudden shift. “Oh, absolutely,” she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Prom royalty, if I recall correctly.”
Josh laughed, clearly not catching the undertone. “Yeah, those were good times.”
Azzi’s leg pressed against Paige’s under the table, grounding her, but it also served as a warning. Paige, for her part, was having the time of her life. She leaned in slightly, her voice low enough for only Azzi to hear, her breath warm against Azzi’s ear. “Relax,” she murmured, her thumb pressing slightly into Azzi’s thigh.
Azzi bit the inside of her cheek, her lips twitching in a strained smile as her grandmother continued. The table’s attention swung back to Azzi’s grandmother, who had clearly decided she wasn’t done. “Josh, did you know Azzi’s been playing phenomenally this season?” she said, her voice brimming with pride.
“I heard,” Josh said, smiling. “Azzi’s always been a star.”
“She sure has,” Katie added, glancing at Azzi with a knowing look. “But she’s got a lot of responsibilities now. Not much time for old flames.”
Azzi groaned internally, wishing she could sink into the floor. “Mom…”
“What?” Katie said innocently. “Just stating the facts.”
Paige’s hand pressed slightly harder near Azzi’s knee, her thumb moving in a slow, deliberate stroke that made Azzi’s breath catch again. Azzi straightened in her chair, doing her best to appear unaffected, though her hand gripped her fork tightly enough that her knuckles whitened.
Dinner carried on, the clatter of utensils and hum of conversation creating a cozy backdrop. Despite the familial warmth, Azzi was struggling to keep her composure. Paige, seated close beside her, was a constant distraction. Every brush of her arm, every subtle glance, kept Azzi hyper-aware of her presence.
It didn’t help that Paige’s hand was still under the table, now resting lightly on Azzi’s thigh. At first, the touch was barely there—a gentle warmth, almost comforting. But as the conversation drifted on, Paige’s fingers began to move with maddening precision.
Azzi felt Paige’s thumb start to draw slow circles again, the pressure light but insistent. Each stroke sent a ripple of warmth up her leg, making it harder for Azzi to focus on anything else. She shifted in her seat, trying to subtly pull away, but Paige only followed, her touch trailing higher.
Azzi’s responses to Josh and her grandmother grew more clipped as she tried to concentrate on the conversation. “Yeah, that was a good game,” she said, her voice tighter than she intended when Josh brought up a high school basketball memory. Her usual calm was slipping, and she knew Paige was reveling in it.
“Do you remember that crazy after-party?” Josh continued, completely oblivious.
Azzi forced a smile. “Uh-huh. Wild times.”
Her hand tightened around her fork as Paige’s fingers pressed slightly deeper into her thigh, now tracing faint patterns along the sensitive skin. The touch wasn’t overt—nothing anyone at the table would notice—but it was enough to send her pulse racing. She could feel her heartbeat in her ears, her body betraying her as heat pooled in her stomach.
Paige leaned in slightly, her voice low, just for Azzi. “You’re awfully quiet, babe,” she murmured, the word deliberately loaded. Her breath was warm against Azzi’s ear, and Azzi had to clench her jaw to stop herself from reacting.
“—he’s such a sweet boy,” Azzi hears her grandmother continuing her plea from the beginning of dinner, her smile unwavering. “Azzi, are you sure you don’t have time to catch up? You always got along so well.”
Azzi forced a polite smile, her fingers tightening slightly around her fork. “Grandma, I really just don’t have the time. I’m only here for a little while,” she said, her voice measured.
Azzi shot her grandmother a grateful look as she seemingly was going to drop it, but it was short-lived. Paige’s hand slid just a fraction higher, her thumb now grazing the inside of Azzi’s thigh, dangerously close to crossing a line. Azzi inhaled sharply, her knee jerking slightly under the table. She hastily reached for her water, hoping the cool liquid would calm the fire raging in her.
“Careful, Paige,” Azzi muttered under her breath as she sipped her water, just loud enough for Paige to hear.
Paige smirked, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “Careful with what?” she whispered back, her tone feigning innocence. Her fingers paused for a moment, then gave a gentle squeeze that made Azzi’s breath hitch.
“Everything okay?” Josh asked, his brow furrowing as he noticed Azzi’s sudden silence.
Azzi plastered on a smile, though her voice came out a little strained. “Yeah, fine. Just…thinking about the game.”
Josh nodded, accepting the explanation, but Paige’s smirk only deepened. Her hand shifted slightly, her pinky brushing the edge of Azzi’s inner thigh in a way that made Azzi bite her lip. She could feel her cheeks heating, and she reached under the table to grab Paige’s wrist, squeezing it in a silent plea for mercy.
Paige relented—barely. She slid her hand back down to Azzi’s knee but left it there, her thumb still occasionally brushing against her in a way that kept Azzi’s nerves on edge.
The conversation moved on, but Azzi barely registered it. Every time she thought she had regained her composure, Paige would shift or press her thumb in just the right way to send another jolt of heat through her.
Her grandfather, who had been silent up until now, cleared his throat, drawing everyone’s attention. “You know,” he said, his voice gruff but steady, “I like Paige better anyway. She always knows how to make Azzi feel good.”
The table went dead silent for a beat before Paige, who had just taken a sip of her drink, sputtered, nearly choking as she coughed into her napkin. Azzi’s eyes widened, her face heating up as she turned to her grandfather.
“Grandpa!” she exclaimed, horrified. Azzi turned to Paige, whose face was now red from coughing and shock. Gently placing a hand on Paige’s back, “Are you okay?” she asked softly, her voice filled with concern. Paige nodded, still coughing into her napkin, as Azzi rubbed soothing circles between her shoulder blades.
“What?” he said, shrugging as if it was the most natural statement in the world. “She’s got a good head on her shoulders. Keeps you on your toes.”
Katie snorted, quickly covering her mouth as laughter bubbled out. “Dad, you can’t just say things like that.”
By the time her grandfather made his offhanded comment about preferring Paige, Azzi was barely holding it together.
Beside her, after composing herself Paige was still grinning, clearly enjoying how easy it was to get under Azzi’s skin. Under the table, her hand finally retreated fully, but the phantom sensation of her touch lingered, leaving Azzi feeling both relieved and achingly aware of Paige’s presence.
As the dinner carried on, Azzi did her best to ignore the lingering heat in her body, focusing instead on the conversations around her. But every now and then, Paige would catch her eye, her gaze filled with unspoken promises that made Azzi’s stomach flip all over again.
Finishing up dinner plates were cleared, leftovers stored, and conversations faded into the background as everyone began winding down for the night. Paige, ever the opportunist, excused herself once the kitchen was in order, making her way upstairs with a coy smile knowing Azzi would be up with some choice words soon.
Azzi, meanwhile, was left to escort Josh to the door. The boy lingered awkwardly in the entryway, his hands shoved deep into his pockets. “It was nice catching up,” he said, his smile warm but tinged with nervous energy.
Azzi nodded, her politeness unwavering but her patience thinning. “Yeah, it was good to see you, Josh.” She extended her hand for yet another handshake, keeping the exchange brief and formal. Josh hesitated for a moment, clearly expecting something more, but eventually took her hand.
“Well, maybe we can hang out again before you leave,” Josh offered, his tone hopeful.
Azzi gave him a tight-lipped smile, stepping back toward the door. “We’ll see,” she said noncommittally.
With that, she gently closed the door behind him, exhaling a sigh of relief. The evening had been exhausting, but not in the way her family might have assumed. As much as she tried to stay composed, the memory of Paige’s hand on her thigh lingered, igniting a restless energy that now begged for resolution.
She ascended the stairs with purpose, her footsteps quick and light. By the time she reached her bedroom, she was practically buzzing with anticipation. Pushing the door open, she found Paige exactly where she expected her—stretched out on the bed, her hands clasped behind her head, looking entirely too pleased with herself.
“Took you long enough,” Paige drawled, her voice low and teasing. Her hoodie was off now, leaving her in just a fitted tank top that clung to her toned frame. The way she sprawled across the bed, so effortlessly confident, only added fuel to the fire burning in Azzi’s chest.
Azzi closed the door behind her, leaning against it for a moment as she took Paige in. “You think you’re funny, don’t you?” she said, her tone a mix of exasperation and need.
Paige grinned, propping herself up on her elbows. “I don’t think—I know,” she quipped. Her eyes raked over Azzi, darkening as she noticed the tension in her posture. “You seemed a little…distracted at dinner. Something on your mind?”
Azzi huffed, pushing off the door and making her way to the bed. “You know exactly what’s on my mind,” she muttered, climbing onto the mattress and straddling Paige without hesitation. Her hands braced on either side of Paige’s shoulders, and for a moment, she just stared down at her, eyes blazing with unspoken frustration.
Paige’s smirk softened into something more tender, her hands coming up to rest gently on Azzi’s butt. “I might’ve pushed a few buttons,” she admitted, her voice dipping lower. “But I couldn’t help myself. You make it too easy.”
Azzi rolled her eyes, but her resolve was already crumbling. The warmth of Paige’s hands on her ass, the steady rise and fall of her chest beneath her, it all worked to soothe and ignite her in equal measure. “You’re insufferable,” she murmured, though there was no real bite to her words.
Paige chuckled, her thumbs brushing soothing circles over Azzi’s hips. “Maybe. But you love it.”
Azzi didn’t deny it. Instead, she leaned down, her forehead resting against Paige’s as her breaths came out shallow and uneven. “You’ve been driving me crazy all night,” she confessed, her voice barely above a whisper.
Paige’s grin widened, her hands tightening their hold slightly. “Good,” she said, her tone rich with satisfaction. “Now let me make it up to you.”
Azzi let out a shaky laugh, her hands sliding up to cup Paige’s face. “Just… don’t leave any marks,” she murmured, her lips brushing against Paige’s.
Paige chuckled again, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “Alright, I’ll behave,” she teased, but her touch softened in reassurance.
…
Azzi woke up slowly, her body tangled with Paige’s under the warm sheets. She could feel the soft rise and fall of Paige’s breath against her skin, the familiar weight of her arm draped across Azzi’s waist. It had been a restless night for both of them.
Azzi’s mind replayed the events of last night—how Paige had kept her on the edge, teasing her, pushing her limits. They hadn’t exactly slept, not in the way people typically think of it. The hours had passed in a haze of intimacy, teasing touches, and whispered words, their bodies close in ways that kept Azzi’s mind racing far past what should have been sleep. She’d barely closed her eyes.
But now, lying next to Paige in the quiet morning, Azzi could finally relax, if only a little. She stayed still for a moment, enjoying the feeling of Paige beside her, the warmth of her skin, the low murmur of her sleepy voice when she stirred.
Paige shifted, brushing her lips lightly against Azzi’s neck. “You okay?” she murmured, voice still thick with sleep, her breath warm on Azzi’s skin.
Azzi chuckled softly, feeling her heart skip a beat at the feeling of Paige’s proximity. “Yeah,” she whispered back. “Just trying to remember if last night was real or if I dreamt it.”
Paige snorted softly, her fingers tracing idle patterns on Azzi’s side. “It was real, all right,” she said with a teasing lilt. “We both know it was.”
Azzi swallowed hard, shifting slightly under Paige’s touch, remembering every moment of last night—the way Paige had made her lose control, the quiet intimacy between them that had both unsettled and exhilarated her. “Yeah,” Azzi agreed, her voice low. “It was.”
They stayed there for a while, both content in the quiet moment. Azzi’s thoughts wandered again, her gaze lingering on the way Paige’s hair splayed out across the pillow, her features soft and relaxed in sleep. Azzi wasn’t used to this before she met Paige—the closeness, the warmth, the sense of comfort mixed with desire. It felt like too much at times, like her chest was going to explode, but Azzi wouldn’t change it for the world.
Suddenly, they both heard footsteps downstairs, and Azzi stiffened, her mind snapping back to reality. Paige, seemingly unfazed, grinned and snuggled deeper into the sheets. “I guess we’d better face the world,” she murmured, her voice full of amusement.
Azzi groaned softly, stretching before reluctantly pushing herself out of bed. “Yeah, let’s get this over with,” she muttered, giving Paige a playful look over her shoulder.
The two of them made their way downstairs, still half-dazed, and entered the kitchen, where Azzi’s mom, Katie, was already busy making coffee. Azzi’s stomach churned slightly, not from nerves, but from the rush of trying to act normal after everything that had happened. She couldn’t help but feel a little off-balance.
Katie looked up from the stove when they entered, her smile warm. “Morning, you two,” she greeted them. “You both sleep okay?”
Azzi hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to say, when Katie, giving her a look of concern, asked, “Were you up all night, honey? I kept hearing you moving around. Bad dream or something?”
Azzi blinked, caught off guard by her mom’s innocent assumption. She quickly glanced over at Paige, who was standing next to her, giving her a small, amused smile. Azzi let out a quiet sigh, mentally scrambling for an explanation. “Uh, no, not a bad dream,” she answered, her voice a little too casual. “I just... didn’t sleep much.”
Katie frowned slightly, setting the spoon down in the pot. “I heard you moving around quite a bit,” she said, her brow furrowing. “I thought maybe something was bothering you.”
Azzi felt her pulse quicken as she searched for a way to respond that wouldn’t raise any suspicions. “I just couldn’t get comfortable,” she lied, offering a smile. “Nothing serious, I’m fine.”
Katie still looked a bit concerned but shrugged it off. “Well, that’s a bummer,” she said sympathetically. “You need your rest, sweetie.”
Azzi tried to act like everything was fine, but she could feel her heart racing, aware of how easily she was lying. The truth was, the restlessness had nothing to do with a bad dream. It had everything to do with the way Paige had kept her awake and on edge, teasing her, making her body feel things it wasn’t quite ready for. Azzi hadn’t had a moment of peace all night, but it wasn’t in the way her mom thought.
Azzi quickly diverted the conversation. “Actually, I feel pretty refreshed today,” she said, forcing herself to smile and shake off the tension. “I’m good.”
Paige, who had been standing quietly nearby, clearly enjoying the moment, couldn’t help but grin. She leaned in closer to Azzi, her lips brushing against her ear as she whispered, “Refreshed, huh? That’s one way to put it.”
Azzi’s body instantly responded, a flush spreading across her chest as she quickly pulled away, trying to mask the effect Paige’s words had on her. The teasing was making it harder for Azzi to focus, but she kept her composure, even though she was keenly aware of the heat simmering just beneath the surface.
Katie, oblivious to the exchange, continued on, her focus still on the coffee. “Well, I’m glad to hear it, sweetie,” she said, giving Azzi a concerned but warm smile. “Just don’t stay up too late again, okay?”
Azzi nodded quickly, her voice a little strained. “Yeah, I won’t. Promise.”
As Katie turned back to the counter, Jose walked into the kitchen, glancing between Azzi and Paige with knowing looks. Azzi’s face heated further as Jose smirked.
“Looks like someone’s extra close this morning,” Jose teased, his voice light but full of mischief.
Azzi groaned inwardly, rubbing her temples. “You’re so annoying,” she muttered, trying to mask the discomfort she was feeling.
Katie, still distracted by her coffee, didn’t notice the teasing, but Jose was clearly enjoying it. Azzi could feel the weight of his amusement, but she wasn’t going to let it bother her.
Paige, on the other hand, was enjoying every second of this. She was casually leaning against the counter, a playful smirk on her lips as she watched Azzi squirm under the attention.
Katie smiled and gestured to the counter. “Well, breakfast is almost ready, if you want to help, Azzi.”
Azzi nodded quickly, happy for something to distract her from the teasing and the thoughts that were still swirling in her head about last night. She grabbed a mug from the cabinet, trying to focus on the simple task, but Paige’s presence next to her made her heart race. It was hard to ignore the way her body responded to every small touch and the way her mind kept flashing back to their shared intimacy.
Paige leaned in again, her voice a low whisper. “You sure you feel refreshed’?” she teased, letting her fingers brush lightly across Azzi’s lower back.
Azzi shivered slightly, trying to keep her face neutral. “Shut up,” she muttered, unable to help the smile that tugged at the corner of her lips.
..
For the most part, Paige and Azzi had spent the entire day lounging around, playing games with the family. It was a rare, peaceful break from their usually hectic schedules. The only time they ventured out was for a quick workout at a private gym, where they worked on their skill sets and worked on finding each other in new ways on the court. They even discovered a flare screen that was nearly impossible to stop with countless shot options for both of them.
Now, they were back in bed, tangled together in the quiet intimacy of the evening as they waited for dinner. Azzi was idly playing with Paige’s fingers, tracing the lines of her palm as if trying to memorize every inch.
“When did you realize you liked me?” Azzi asked softly out of nowhere, her voice laced with curiosity.
Paige smiled, her eyes fixed on their entwined hands. “I think I always knew that’s why I talked so much. Especially when I stayed with your family during the pandemic.”
Azzi chuckled, her laughter light but teasing. “Oh, you mean when you harassed me for months?”
“I did not harass you!” Paige protested, her expression feigning indignation. “You loved having me around.”
“Maybe,” Azzi muttered, her tone playful yet carrying a hint of truth she wasn’t ready to admit.
“What about you?” Paige asked, tilting her head to catch Azzi’s eyes. “When did you know?”
Azzi’s face softened. “Immediately. On the plane after USA camp. You talked my ear off, and I didn’t mind one bit.”
They both laughed at the memory, the nostalgia wrapping around them like a warm blanket.
“So, we both liked each other for years,” Paige said, her voice carrying a mix of amusement and disbelief, “and we’re just now getting together?”
Azzi nodded. “I think we got together at a time when we were both ready and mature enough for it.”
Paige sighed thoughtfully. “I can only imagine trying to balance all the media attention and figuring out our relationship back then. It would’ve been a mess.”
There was a comfortable pause before Azzi broke it with a more serious question. “Why were you with Jess?”
Paige blinked, caught off guard, not expecting to hear that name again .The question was direct, but she knew Azzi deserved an honest answer. “I was hurt… but it was also an accident.”
Azzi gave her a look that silently asked her to explain.
Paige hesitated, then began, “I don’t know if you remember, but earlier that day, you gave that guy your number right in front of me and I was pretty upset.”
Azzi burst into laughter, her eyes lighting up with amusement. “I actually gave him your number. He seemed a little… off, and I didn’t want to deal with the back and forth so I just gave him yours.”
Paige’s jaw dropped. “What?! Why didn’t you tell me when I complained about the random texts the next day?”
Azzi shrugged, her smirk turning sheepish. “I was upset about your new little girlfriend, and I didn’t feel like helping you.”
Paige shook her head, then recounted, “Jess wasn’t even supposed to be my girlfriend. She was just a fan who asked for a picture and afterwards she casually asked what I was doing later, and I told her the team was going to Ted’s. Next thing I know she thinks it’s a date and she’s announcing to everyone that we’re together.”
Azzi doubled over, laughing so hard tears welled up. “You got stuck for two whole months because you invited a fan to Ted’s?”
Paige grabbed a pillow and whacked Azzi “It’s not funny!” This only made Azzi laugh harder.
“Maybe I should ban you from talking to anyone ever again,” Azzi teased, catching her breath. “Clearly, you’re too nice for your own good.”
“Hey, I’m all for it if it means I only get to talk to you,” Paige shot back, grinning.
They continued laughing, but Azzi’s expression grew serious as a lingering question surfaced. “Did anything ever happen between you two?”
Paige, sensing the shift, quickly reassured her. “No. No, of course not. I only ever had eyes for you.”
Azzi nodded slowly, her features relaxing. “So… what did you guys even do?”
“Honestly?” Paige said with a smirk. “She spent most of the time throwing herself at me, and I kept making excuses—practice, meetings, homework. We barely saw each other. I just sent a few texts here and there to keep things at bay.”
Azzi laughed, shaking her head. “And she really thought that was a relationship?”
Paige shrugged nonchalantly. “You were my first, if that’s what you’re wondering.”
Azzi blinked, her surprise evident. “Wait—what?”
“Yeah,” Paige said casually, leaning back.
“Wait I thought… everyone made it sound like you were some player before I got to Uconn.”
“That’s what everyone thought,” Paige admitted. “I mean sure I talked to people and they definitely tried to hook up but they weren’t you. Even as a freshman, I knew I didn’t want to do anything that might make you see me differently.”
Azzi stared at her, still processing. “You always seemed so confident, so… experienced.”
Paige grinned. “That’s because it was with you. Everything felt like second nature.”
Azzi smirked. “Yeah, choking me the first time we fucked was totally second nature, huh?”
Paige raised her hands in mock surrender. “Hey, not my fault I noticed how much you liked it that night at Morgan’s party.”
They laughed, their cheeks warm from shared memories.
Paige eventually asked, “Why didn’t you just ever ask?”
Azzi hesitated. “I was scared. I didn’t want to hear details if there were any. I thought it’d hurt too much.”
Paige hummed thoughtfully, then smiled as Azzi said, “You were my first, too.”
“I know,” Paige said softly.
Azzi tilted her head. “How?”
“I know you,” Paige said simply. “You’re too intentional with yourself to be with just anyone. Plus You’d have told me if it were different no matter how much I wouldn’t have wanted to hear.”
They locked eyes, their gazes filled with unspoken emotion, and shared a tender kiss.
After a moment, Paige pulled back slightly. “What’s going on? You’ve been deep in thought all day.”
Azzi hesitated, then admitted, “Last night’s been on my mind all day.”
Paige grinned. “That good, huh?”
“Paige,” Azzi groaned. “Seriously. It wasn’t our first time, but something about it felt different and more charged. I could feel how much you cared about me with every touch and I’ve just never felt anything that intense before. Not to mention we went all night, you didn’t leave me much room to calm myself down so everything in my chest just kept building.”
Paige’s teasing expression softened. “I know exactly what you mean. I felt it too. Maybe it’s because we’re in your home. We've been here so many times before but never like that. It's all kind of full circle for us and shows just how serious this is between us.”
Azzi nodded. “Paige, you know this isn’t just a fling for me right? I want us to build something real.”
“I know, baby,” Paige said, rubbing Azzi’s cheek. “I’ve known since the moment I met you that whatever we were and whatever our relationship ended up being, we were in it for the long run. I can’t imagine my life without you.”
Azzi’s eyes glistened, her emotion bubbling over at Paige’s words and before she could stop herself, she whispered, “I love you.”
Paige’s shocked face lit up before settling into a large grin. “You love me?”
Azzi smiled, more confident now. “I love you. I’ve loved you for a while.”
Paige leaned in, her voice soft as her eyes shined with affection. “I’m completely in love with you, Azzi Fudd.”
They shared a lingering kiss, the weight of their words settling between them. The moment was tender, perfect. Moments later, Katie’s voice called them down for dinner. They broke apart, laughing, and headed downstairs hand in hand.
Dinner was quieter this time, a calm follow-up to the lively gathering from earlier. Only Tim, Katie, Jon, Jose, Azzi, and Paige sat around the table, the conversation mostly focused on basketball. Laughter punctuated the meal as they exchanged light-hearted stories about past games and memorable moments.
Jose, however, had other plans. Leaning back in his chair, he glanced between Paige and Azzi with a sly grin. “You know,” he began casually talking quietly so only they could hear, “I don’t think the two of you are as sneaky as you think.”
Paige paused mid-bite, her brows furrowing. “What do you mean?” she asked, feigning innocence.
“Oh, you know exactly what I mean,” Jose replied, leaning forward with a smirk. “Last night. Thin walls. Ringing any bells?”
Azzi groaned, sinking lower into her chair. “Jose, shut up.”
“I’m just saying,” he continued, clearly enjoying himself. “You two had everyone fooled during the day, but at night? Let’s just say, you weren’t exactly subtle.”
Paige’s cheeks burned, and she glared at Jose. “We tried to be quiet.”
“Keyword: tried,” Jose said, chuckling. “Didn’t really work, though.”
Azzi shook her head, muttering, “I hate you.”
Paige buried her face in her hands, letting out a muffled groan. “Can we please talk about something else?”
Jose had an amused look, but thankfully, Katie interrupted and redirected the conversation. “Azzi,” she said, her tone curious, “What was going on with you and Josh? You were avoiding him and Grandma yesterday. You were also acting all jumpy anytime he got close to you.”
Jose jumps in adding to the fuel on purpose, “Not to mention you throwing out your hand for an awkward handshake anytime he tried to hug you.”
Azzi froze, her eyes darting to Paige for a split second. “I’m just… trying to be respectful,” she said quietly, her voice barely audible. No one but Paige knows that Azzi is referring to the rules they have in place for one another.
“Respectful?” Katie repeated, clearly confused. “Respectful to who?”
Azzi shifted uncomfortably, her gaze dropping to her plate. Then, in a voice just loud enough to be heard, she said, “Paige.”
The room fell silent for a moment, the only sound was the faint clinking of utensils. Paige’s eyes widened, and she instinctively reached under the table to take Azzi’s hand, squeezing it gently. Azzi squeezed back, drawing strength from the gesture.
Katie tilted her head, a knowing smile playing on her lips. “And why would you need to be respectful to Paige?” Her tone was light, but her eyes sparkled with curiosity.
Azzi took a deep breath, her eyes flicking briefly to Paige before she turned back to her family. “Because…” She hesitated, then finally said, “Paige and I are dating.”
For a moment, the room was completely still. Then, in unison, Tim, Katie, Jon, and Jose broke into wide smiles.
“Finally,” Katie said, her voice warm with affection.
Azzi blinked, caught completely off guard. “Wait, what?”
Jon laughed. “Took you two long enough.”
Jose grinned, pointing his fork at Paige. “You were always looking at Azzi like she hung the moon.”
“Same goes for Azzi,” Jon added. “You’ve both been obvious since day one.”
Tim, who had been quietly observing, nodded. “We’ve known for years, girls. We just wanted to let you figure it out on your own.”
Paige looked around the table, her face a mix of shock and relief. “You all knew?”
Katie chuckled. “Of course, sweetheart. The way you two interact? It was only a matter of time.”
Azzi let out a breath she didn’t realize she’d been holding, a grin spreading across her face. Paige, still holding her hand under the table, smiled back at her, feeling a sense of warmth and belonging.
“Well,” Azzi said, her voice lighter, “I guess we didn’t need to stress about telling you.”
“Nope,” Jon said, grinning. “But we’re glad you finally did.”
Jose leaned in again, smirking as he whispered to the two of them. “Just maybe keep it down tonight, yeah?”
“Jose!” Azzi and Paige said in unison, their faces red but laughing despite themselves.
The rest of dinner passed in a comfortable, happy atmosphere, the family’s support wrapping around Paige and Azzi like a warm embrace.

"no one's going to look at that dress on you except me."
pairings ; idol!boyfriend!seonghwa x non idol!fem!reader warnings ; just pure smut (mdni lol), yes i have a thing for fingering and licking </3 wn ; i've been very lazy lately but i felt like writing something haha (just want hwa's cock fr) lmk if there are any errors thanks
its your dinner night with your co-workers today, now you're unpacking your things out on the floor one by one. seonghwa had a day off from work after their world tour as they're already finished. he booked a room in the hotel you're going to have dinner at, but instead of booking for one person, he got a bigger room as he's going to accompany you along. honestly the best idea to let him be with you. really.
you and seonghwa went to the mall after you've checked in and already had your stuff in your hotel room. now, hunting for foods to stay in the night. "baby, are you sure you're going to the dinner night? i got a bad feeling about it.." seonghwa said. he didn't want you to go simply because he don't want anyone to look at you with the dress he got you on your birthday. you looked at him, smiling and confused at the same time. "why wouldn't i? its my first dinner night as a co-worker. of course i'd go." you grabbed three to four packs of chips, along with some instant noodles and put it in the basket seonghwa was holding.
"i know but... ahh you know baby?! Sometimes it's quite best to listen to your boyfriend! I mean.." he stuttered, not wanting to let you know about his jealousy over the dress. You didn't bother to say something, bringing him to the counter and pay for everything. After you both had shopped for foods, you head back to your hotel room. To get some rest before going to have fun tonight.
you plopped down on your shared king sized bed leaving the foods unpacked from its plastic bags. seonghwa was still at the front door, taking off his shoes before joining you. he moved closer, grabbing you by the waist. "baby, please? i don't want you to go." he pouts. you caressed his cheeks as you smiled. "its just for about.. until midnight. just like how we're away when you're busy with your schedules." you said, pinching his nose as he smiles. "fine. i'll let you. lets take a nap, shall we? wouldn't wanna let my baby gets tired before her best night." seonghwa said. little did he know, he won't let you go tonight anyway.
8:25pm
strawberry perfume filling the room, with your heat curled hair just on the right length. the red satin dress that seonghwa had bought for your anniversary months ago, hugs your body so well, with a little cut to your knees. everything goes so well along with your perfect makeup you had practiced for tonight. also, your black purse making you look elegant. seonghwa was in bed, already in his favorite black pajamas. behind being busy with his phone, he was too nervous to look at you. "hwa, do i look good?" you said, turning back from the mirror for him to look at you clearer. seonghwa cleared his throat, eyebrow furrowed but his eyes didn't shift a little to even glance at you. "uh.. yeah... it looks very pretty, baby." he said. the reaction he had doesn't excite you that much. you walked towards him, putting your purse down on the bed. hovering over him sweating a little by little. you took his phone away, throwing it somewhere only god knows.
seonghwa, once again cleared his throat. folding his hands over his chest as he looks away except you. you quickly grab his face by his chin, eyes locked to his big ones. seonghwa finally giving in, making an eye contact with you, slowly going down to your dress. scanning your whole profile, he felt himself growing erection. you backed off, giving him more view of your whole look. seonghwa was in awe, sitting up as he's still looking at you up and down, slowly. "so? any comments now?" you said, feeling impatient for his answers. seonghwa simply got up, basically hovering over your still small body even wearing the high heels. he held you by your waist, pulling you closer to him . caressing your hair, gently grabbing some to admire. you smiled, throwing your arms over his shoulder, approving his silent compliments. "oh baby, i bet everyone will love this look of yours." he said, cupping your cheek as he kisses you passionately. his other hand, going down to your ass, gently squishing them.
you melted into the kiss, slowly forgetting about the dinner you're going to have for about an hour. seonghwa pulled you closer, slowly walking backwards to the bed. as you both pulled away from your kiss, he's finally sat on the bed, with you hovering over him. hands on his shoulders, your left leg placed beside his, as his hands are still glued on your body. you looked at the clock on the wall, 8:49pm. "shit, its getting late. i have to go now-" you were about to let go but seonghwa had his arms around you as soon as you noticed. you looked down at him, his eyes were.. full of lust. his tongue pressed on the inside if his cheek. "baby i have to-" "no one's going to look at that dress on you except me." you were once got cut off again by him. looking at him ever so confusingly, you laughed it off. "so.. you begged me not to go because of this dress i had from you?" you said, placing your hands on his shoulder once again.
"i don't think i allow my princess to go around so sexy like this. this look on you.." he hissed, furrowing his eyebrows together as he looks at your curves along with his hands tracing them. "its only for me. for my eyes only, baby." he leaned down, bringing you along as you're now hovering over him again. "do you know how much i've been imagining you with this dress on but you never put it on back then.. i'd love to hear my name moaned out by your sweet voice.. in this dress." he said again. his eyes still admiring your body non stop. you smirked at him, rolling down next to him, signaling him to go on top of you.
"obedient... and controlling much? love, you have no idea how hot you are." he said, grabbing the both of your hands and holding them with one hand over your head. "you love it hm? love it when i use this kind of clothing so that you would have an excuse to fuck me out with your aching dick?" you teased, wiggling your feet to let go of your heels and place them around seonghwa's waist. "you're one to talk." seonghwa kissed you, not rough, but also not so gentle. just the way you love it. he leans closer to you, resting his body on yours as his other hands rests on your neck. you felt his crotch pressed against your wet core, so you tried to thrust upwards to meet his aching dick once again. he noticed that, stopping every movements as he backed off an inch away to look into your eyes. "i thought you were more into the dinner more than me." he said, getting up from you. he flipped you around and took off his pants. you looked back, noticing a patched on his boxer. you smirked in his current state. seonghwa gently press on his erection, eyes only locked on you. "you see this..? this is your fault, babygirl." reaching to your back, he unzips your dress.
exposing your back, naked without a bra. (shh.. you used a sticky(?) bra thing on ur tits ;D) seonghwa licked his bottom lips, caressing your waist as he slid the dress down till it fell on the floor. "baby.. where is your bra hm? really was expecting this moment don't you?" he said, now ripping off your laced black panties. you whined at his hands roaming around your body, basically tickling you in a hot way. "please.. stop." you begged, not wanting to be in the teasing session anymore. seonghwa leaned to you, holding your face up by your chin making you look at him. "please what..?" he licked your earlobe, pecking on it all the way to your shoulder. "p-please.. just fuck me already..!" you whined, feeling his soft lips going down to your wet core.
seonghwa finally reached your heated cunt, looking at every curves as possible. "i need you to turn around for me baby." he said, tapping your thighs twice. you obeyed, rolling to your back as you sigh in relaxation. seonghwa put your legs up, locking them down on the mattress with his arms to get a clear view on your leaking core. seonghwa breathed to your pussy, knowing you would feel it. "baby, you're already so wet now? you are so.. so naughty." he licked your folds, wanting to hear the pretty voice of yours. after giving them kitten licks, he went looking at your cunt again. this time, you're constantly twitching as you wanted more of his tongue. he loved the way you just breath so hard without your words, but your cunt says everything you need just by twitching so much.
seonghwa caress the outside of your folds before inserting one finger in, eyes focusing on your reaction to it. he loves.. like really loves you making those faces while you hold in your moans. "louder love, don't hold them in if you love it." he said, increasing the pace of his finger. "a-ah, mm.. hwa.. please.." you moaned out. seonghwa slowed down once more, "please what hmm..?" sucking on your clit and flatten his tongue on them. your mind was spinning at how good he's making you feel. "just... let me cum.." you quietly said, stopping seonghwa's hand from moving again. instead, his tongue was teasing your clit. "please.. hwa, i just want to cum on your face.. your dick.." you breathily begged. he kissed your inner thigh as approval, inserting another finger inside you as he pump them faster. along with his tongue licking your pussy so good. you rolled your eyes back, pleasure waving over. your thigh was shaking, winning over his arms that was holding them back as you squished his face with your thigh.
when you were close, he pulled out his finger as he gets up. he licks them until they're clean, it made you shiver. "oh baby, need you to cum all over me now." seonghwa went back to his position, this time he's licking your cunt until you cum. his tongue works so perfectly inside you, rolling them smoothly and hitting the right spot. "yes.. more.. ah, i'm gonna-" as soon as you were going to finish your sentence, you moaned out in pleasure as you came onto his tongue. seonghwa cleaned your release so well, not missing any drop behind.
after he licked them clean, he gave your puffy cunt a peck before getting up to get off his boxer. his dick springs out, almost touching your lower stomach. "don't think i am done yet with you. that was only a warmup. well, for me."

It's 💙💙💙me again !I've Come to be annoying ! Lol . Okay so hear me out , it's cold as shit in Chicago during the winters and the reader just moved there and isn't used to it and her clothes arent warm enough and it makes carmen annoyed as hell BECAUSE ITS COLD AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING ?? So he's always giving you his coat and reader is always like "no no no , you're gonna be cold 🥺🥺🥺" while she's grabbing his biceps but at the same time she's like all "heheheeh" on the inside and giddy and he just gives her a stern look and spank on the ass for being irresponsible 🫣 but at the same time he loves her wearing his jacket and now she's only allowed to wear his jacket basically 💙
You could never annoy me friend!!
But yes I sooo agree with this. I’m thinking pre relationship you would show up to work after walking there when it was FREEZING. All you have to keep you warm is a flimsy little jacket. You suck it up and don’t complain.
Carmy notices though when the day is over and you’re about to head out back into the cold with your sad excuse for a jacket.
“Y/N. Did you forget your jacket in your locker or something? It’s freezing you need to go grab it.”
“This is all I’ve got! I haven’t had time to buy a proper winter jacket since moving here. I’ll be fine though. I made it this morning just fine.” The concerned look on Carmy’s face turns into one of complete shock.
“What the hell were you thinking? It’s like 20 degrees outside.” Carmy begins to unbutton his thick fleece-lined denim jacket and shrug it down his shoulders.
“Woah, woah, woah. What are you doing?” You grab at his arms to stop his movements. His biceps flex beneath your palms. You knew he was ripped, but to feel his muscles under your own hand is much different than just looking at them.
“I’m letting you wear my jacket.” You two argue back and forth before you finally give in. He stands behind you and helps you slip the jacket on. It’s soft and cozy, and the smell of Carmen overwhelms you. “There we go. That’s much better now, isn’t it?”
You couldn’t lie. He was right. “Thank you Carmy. I’ll get this back to you tomorrow. Promise.”
“No. Don’t worry about it. You said you didn’t have time to get a jacket, right? Consider it a ‘welcome to Chicago’ gift.”
“You don’t have to do that! This is a really nice jacket. I don’t want to take it from you.”
“Trust me. I have plenty just like it. Besides, it looks nice on you.”
Now once you two are in a relationship? Yeah you forget your (his) jacket on purpose just so you can wear whatever one he wore to work back home. The main reason behind this is so you can smell like him for however long the jacket retains his scent.
He’s come to expect this and actually keeps an extra jacket in his locker so he doesn’t freeze to death in Chicago winter.
But yes. Every single time it happens he will playfully scold you and slap you on the ass because he knows you love it.
He truly cannot get enough of you in his clothes. He would walk home in the blistering cold if it meant he got to see you wearing one of his jackets

💬 Everybody Talks Too Much 💬
Summary: Wilbur was talking about Y/N at a concert and Y/N happened to be streaming & her chat told her. Then, once Wilbur gets back from the tour, Y/N mentions it & Wilbur gets flustered AF

warnings/cw: reader & Wilbur getting flustered, swearing, mentions of whimpering audios
proofread?: *aggressively shakes head*
genre: fluff
word count: 455
"Do we have to steal Wilbur's YLYL rules again, chat?" You said to your chat with a laugh. "It seems like Wilbur's the only one who can tame you feral fuckers." You were doing a YLYL stream & your fans thought it would be a funny idea to try & send whimpering audios through MediaShare. You were not amused. Just then, a different video had been sent in. You were very prepared to pause the video or have the mods remove it, but you then saw your roommate Wilbur in the video.
"What's this?" You asked with a raised brow. You read the caption of the video, which read, "Wilbur was talking about Y/N during one of his concerts!!!!" You felt your face get hot.
In the video, Wilbur had just finished a song & he said to the crowd, "Guys, I forgot to mention, but shoutout to my roommate Y/N, because they stuck around even though I forget to pay rent half of the time & I bother her with my dumbass rambling! So, yeah, respect for my pretty hot roommate!" He said it so easily as if it were nothing. As if he didn't just call you hot.
"...interesting," you mumbled. The chat was blowing up with 'lol' messages & comments about how red your cheeks were. You didn't really care because you heard a knock at your bedroom door. You were home alone.
"Uh...come in?" you said to the knocking at the door. Wilbur then opened the door. "Wilbur?! You're back from tour?"
"Yeah," he smiled. He became Beardbur again during the tour & he looked very tired. "Sorry, I didn't tell you. I wanted to surprise you."
"Nah, it's fine," you said. "I was too busy to pick you up anyway."
"Wow," Wilbur said sarcastically, placing a hand over his heart & scoffing. "I can't believe that you would prioritize your streams over me!"
"Oh, piss off," you laughed.
"What're you doing?" Wilbur asked, looking at the webcam. He looked at the video & raised a brow.
"We're doing a YLYL stream," you said. "& my chat sent a video of you talking about me during a concert."
His usually pale face went ten shades pinker. "Th-that must've been edited or something-"
"Wilbur, it's fine, I know you're madly in love with me," you said jokingly. He laughed awkwardly.
"Oh well, I'll leave you to your weird chat," Wilbur said as he quickly got up & left the room. You waved goodbye & saw that someone had subscribed & left a message along with the sub.
"WILBUR LIKES YOU! HE SAID SO DURING THE SHOW! I JUST DIDN'T SHOW YOU THAT PART!" The message said.
"...what?" You said softly.

Of Butterflies and Backstrokes Part 4
Shiny new schedule! Lets see how it shakes out. I'm hoping this will give each story time to shine on its own. But as my husband pointed out, it is four days in a row of stories followed by a day of no posting and then WIP Wednesday for the next two. So there really isn't a break between them lol!
Eh, it's fine!
In this Eddie finds what happened to Steve and decides to do something about it. And Steve develops a crush on Eddie's swimming.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
~
Steve was grateful when the party ended. He was about ready to vibrate out of his skin. He needed to talk to Robin.
“All right spit it out,” she huffed when they got into the car. “I can tell you’ve been antsy all day.”
He let out a sigh. He loved her so much. He never had to over-explain himself with her. The way he always did with Tommy.
“When you guys do the staff swim on Saturdays, how often is Eddie there?”
She blinked at the question. It was the last thing she would have thought he would ask.
“Almost every week,” Robin said. “He wasn’t there last week because he had to help his uncle in the yard, but yeah. If he can be there, he will.”
Steve pursed his lips and nodded. “Yeah, okay. Does he play around usually or does he do laps and shit?”
She frowned as she thought back. “He’s usually doing laps when we get there and then plays around with us when we get in the pool.”
“Is he doing a basic breaststroke or...?” he hedged, biting on his bottom lip.
“All right, what’s with the twenty questions?” Robin replied. “Just ask what’s really on your mind.”
Steve let out a long breath. “Is there a chance he could have been trained to swim and not just taught?”
She sat back in the passenger seat and thought about it.
“Huh.”
“Yeah,” he said dryly. “Because Robin, he’s fucking good. Like could be better than me with the right coach good.”
She raised her eyebrows. “Wait, really?”
Steve nodded.
They sat on that thought the rest of the way home.
~
Eddie got home from his swim and immediately hopped into the shower. He hated showering in locker rooms. Even when they were supposedly empty. Too many close calls with the jocks at his high school to feel safe in those things.
When he got out his Uncle Wayne was sitting on the armchair reading the newspaper.
“You know those things are going go the way the dodo any day now, right?” he teased, flopping on the nearby sofa.
“Uh-huh,” Wayne said dryly, not bothering to look up. “You’re back early.”
Eddie huffed out a laugh. “The rec center general manager was having her son’s birthday party today so I dipped out early.”
Wayne put down his paper and took off his glasses. “They didn’t tell you they’d need to use the pool? That’s not fair, Ed.”
“No, no,” Eddie said waving his hands back and forth. “They were using the kiddie pool. They were just super loud and I wasn’t in the mood to deal with just lifeguards today with Robin helping out.”
“She getting paid for that?” Wayne said, steely-eyed.
Eddie rolled his eyes. “Yes Uncle Wayne, they were asked if they wanted to and were paid overtime for it.”
Wayne nodded curtly and went back to his paper. “I went to the library and looked up that Harrington fellow. Five gold medals, two silver and a bronze. Probably would have had even more gold medals if it weren’t for that accident at the beginning of the games.”
“Tragic,” Eddie said. He was aiming for sarcastic but it came out more sincere than he would have liked.
“I think it was sabotage.”
Eddie’s head whipped up to look at his uncle. “You want to repeat that?”
Wayne carefully folded the paper and set it on the side table next to him. He pulled off his glasses and looked him in the eye. “I think it was a deliberate attempt to get Steve out the games.” Eddie’s eyebrows shot up. “Now I don’t know if it was meant to go as far as it did, but without a doubt that jumping board was tampered with.”
Eddie sat back and looked at him skeptically. “You shitting with me right now?” Wayne shook his head. “Because why would anyone do that? He only did okay in the second Olympics he was in. He didn’t even medal the first time.”
“Because they were throwing around phrases like ‘world record’ and ‘best swimmer of his generation’ about Steve Harrington at Beijing,” Wayne explained. “Like proper news worthy stuff. All eyes would have been on him and I’m betting that whoever it was wanted him out.”
Eddie sat back on the sofa with a “Huh.” He pulled out his phone and pulled up the internet. He typed in Steve Harrington’s name and the top results was his 2008 Olympic trials. Which Eddie privately wondered if someone paid heavily for that.
He clicked on the link. The final swim for butterfly and no one else was even in frame. He could hear the zoooom, click, of the camera zooming back out. Hargrove came in second, Hagan third and then everyone else was tight cluster of bodies at the finish line.
“Holy shit,” Eddie breathed. “He’s not just good. He’s God’s gift to swimming, son of Poseidon levels of ability here. If you’re right and someone did this to him, I hope they fucking hang for it.”
“Kick him out of the sport at the very least,” Wayne said gruffly. “Maybe even criminal charges if they call pull them.”
Eddie nodded. “Speaking of criminal charges, how the hell did you convince Chief Hopper to get me off mine? Because I should have gotten probation at least. A criminal record and jail time at the worst.”
Wayne looked him straight in the eye. “Because I know everyone deserves a second chance. Not everyone is like your daddy. He used up every ounce of goodwill he had with everyone before they locked him up threw away the key. Hopper was a delinquent before he got into a big enough trouble and his parents sent him to military school.”
Eddie’s eyebrows went up. That explained a lot more than anything else he knew about the man. “And you what? Covered it up for him? Took the fall? What?”
Wayne chuckled and shook his head. “No, nothing like that.”
Eddie leveled his uncle with a glare. “It must have been something big because he picks me up every day and is part of the trio that has to sign off on my paper work. That’s not a small favor, Uncle Wayne.”
“That’s certainly true,” he agreed. “I was a character witness for him to adopt his daughter, Elinor. He’s pretty damn sure that if it wasn’t for me going to bat for him they would’ve never let him some much as foster let alone adopt.”
“Yeah,” Eddie said, nodding thoughtfully. “That is a pretty big favor.”
“You being good to him?” Wayne asked after a moment.
Eddie reared his head back and tilted in confusion. “Who? Hopper?”
“No,” Wayne scoffed. “Steve. You might have not have known at first what he went through, but you do now. So are you being good to him?”
Eddie opened his mouth to instantly reply ‘of course!’ but he forced himself to stop and think about it. “I don’t really spend enough time with him to be one way or another, but I haven’t gone out of my way to be a dick, you know?”
Wayne nodded and then picked back up his paper and Eddie knew that was the end of that. He went back to watching videos of Steve completely smash his American teammates to smithereens. Like the way the guy moved through the water was like a hot knife through butter, it was that smooth.
Then he pulled up the video. The one that ended the guy’s Olympic dreams for good. They were all at the starting line and everything looked normal. Calm. Then the gun went off and suddenly it all went wrong. The spring board literal flew out from under Steve. He tried to correct his trajectory, but Eddie could see he only made it worse.
He clung to it desperately, but his head bashed the side and suddenly he was under. Sinking like a stone. People held their breath as they watched, waiting for him to surface again. But he didn't. Suddenly, a streak of white flashed by everyone and dove in, straight for him. The figure grabbed Steve and dragged him to the surface. When they both crested the surface, it revealed just exactly who his savior was.
Robin.
Somehow there wasn’t any blood, just a giant bruise where he hit his head. Eddie can tell he’s unconscious and Robin barely holding on. Then finally a couple of the coaches jumped in after them and helped pull him to edge of the pool where EMTs were waiting with a stretcher. They immediately wrapped his neck in brace and then carefully hauled him out of the water.
All this to fucking commentary. Like Eddie wanted to reach back in time and punch those assholes until they bled. Sure, tell people what happened. But this? This was disgusting. A play by play.
Eddie exited out of the video and threw his phone on the sofa next to him. Afraid of the water. That’s what Jeff had suggested back when he first started doing his community service. Murray had even suggested something to the like. But this? This cinched it.
Fuck.
“Would something like almost drowning make you afraid of the water?” Eddie asked out loud, chewing on his lip and rubbing the bottom of his lip.
Wayne looked up from his newspaper again with a questioning hum. So Eddie repeated the question. “Could do, I suppose. Trauma is a bit funny like that. Why do you ask?”
Eddie told him about Steve’s avoidance of main pool and how he stayed to the kiddie pool and endless pool. “Like he obviously takes showers and shit, so it’s not a complete aversion, but it’s something, right?”
Wayne hummed again, this time more thoughtfully. “Certainly sounds like it’s more than something, Ed.”
Eddie slapped his knees and stood up. “Right, I think I know what I need to do.” He grabbed his phone off the sofa and patted his pockets to make sure he had his keys.
“I’ll be back later,” he called out over his shoulder and Wayne hummed his acknowledgment that he heard him, before he was flying out the door.
He got in his van and drove straight over. He skidded to a stop in front of nice house in Loch Nora. He barely managed to yank the keys out of the ignition before storming up the stairs to the front door. He pounded on the door until Gareth opened it.
“Hey,” he said with a grin. “Your dad’s a psychologist, right?”
Gareth blinked at him a moment, unsure what was going on. “Dude, you do realize it’s barely ten o’clock on a Saturday? You know, that day most people use to sleep in?”
Eddie looked at his watch for a moment and then looked up at his friend with a chagrined expression. “Sorry, dude. I can come back later if you want.” He jutted his thumb behind him at his van.
Gareth peered around him and then looked at Eddie blearily. “No, no I don’t want to unleash you on the unsuspecting populous when you get like this.” He turned around and waved for Eddie to follow.
Eddie bounced on his toes for a moment trying to decide if he should come in or not. He was about to decide not, when Mrs. Hughes came around the corner.
“Eddie!” she cried cheerfully. “You’re just in time for breakfast. I’ll throw another couple of slices of bacon on the griddle for you.”
So he came in, lured by the promise of bacon.
“So what did you need to my dad about?” Gareth asked, setting the table for breakfast.
Eddie jumped, nearly forgetting he had a mission. “There’s this guy at the pool they have me doing community service at, who has a shit ton of trauma and I wanted to ask him for advice on not accidentally fucking the guy up worse, you know?”
“That’s admirable, Eddie,” Dr. Hughes said, coming into the kitchen with the newspaper. “Trauma is such a tricky thing and by educating yourself in knowing where the common landmines are is good place to start.”
Eddie sighed in relief. He had been worried that Gareth’s dad would tell him to keep his nose out of it.
So once breakfast was on the table and they had dug in a bit, Gareth’s twin Gethin having spent the night at a friend’s, Eddie started telling Dr. Hughes all about Steve.
Dr. Hughes nodded. “Trauma in relation to pain is a tricky thing to unravel because they avoid the thing for fear of getting hurt again.”
Eddie nodded, soaking up everything and even taking notes. “Thanks, Dr. H, this was really helpful. I won’t feel so nervous around him anymore.”
“You’re a good kid, Eddie,” Dr. Hughes murmured. “I’m glad my personal psych profile was able to help in keeping you out of jail. It never sat right with me that poor people have to resort to crime to stay afloat and then be punished more severely for it.”
Eddie blushed. “Thanks for that, too.”
He knew was reductive to claim that it was Hopper that got him off, especially when so many people came out to help him stay out of jail and out of having a criminal record. But Hopper’s testimony was certainly the most memorable.
He finished breakfast and then spent time with Gareth going over the next session of their current D&D game.
Come Monday, he was going to help Steve in every way he could. Because if anyone knew the consequences of having a shit hand dealt you, it was Eddie.

Pairings: park seonghwa x fem reader x choi san
genres/content: action, agent au, mafia au? rivalry, leader bang chan, angry seonghwa, y/n is san's weakness lol
Warnings: profanity, violence, weapons, suggestive content!! please take care of yourselves <3
A/N: I am nervous about this one y'all 😳 I've never written something like this before, but it ended up being so fun! This is for my friends, @milfks and L, who had these wonderful ideas! Love you two lots <3
Synopsis: Tonight's mission is in your hands, and you're eager to prove that you're capable of handling it on your own. Unfortunately, your plans are interrupted a bit sooner than you expected.
***
"I've got eyes on him," you mumble, pretending to fix your diamond earring as you adjust your earpiece. Surveying from the platform of the mansion's grand staircase, your eyes follow a man in a black suit as he turns the corner and disappears down a far hallway.
Chan's sigh rings in your earpiece. "Be careful."
"I can handle myself. Trust me."
"I trust you, Y/N. You know that. It's everyone else that I don't trust. It's your first time unaccompanied," Chan says.
"Like I said, I can handle it. Besides, the boys are always out by themselves and they're just fine." If you could see Chan right now, you know he'd be pinching the bridge of his nose out of stress, holding back from giving you a lecture on why your situation is different from theirs. You know his concern is out of love, and he would blame himself if anything were ever to happen to you. But this is your chance to prove yourself. Tonight, you'll be participating in an auction to get your hands on the Cromer, a powerful artifact that can control time. It's been rumored that ATEEZ has their sights set on it as well, so Chan had you do as much research on them as possible. Unfortunately for you, they're quite good at covering their tracks and keeping their identities under wraps. You know only a few of their names and faces, so you'll need to be extra careful about your approach to this.
The auction will begin in about an hour, and you'd rather not hear a lecture from Chan. "I'm going in," you whisper. Your black dress flatters your figure perfectly, and you're excited to show it off tonight. With a deep breath, you make your way down the staircase, your heels silent on the expensive red carpet.
Clusters of people stand together around the large space, sipping champagne and chatting amongst themselves. Many wives have separated into groups away from their husbands, who go on and on about their latest business ventures and investments. Understandable—how boring. You greet some people as you go, your charming smile in effect as their eyes land on you. One woman compliments your dress as you pass by, and you enthusiastically return her compliment, telling her that her own dress brings out her eyes. She blushes and tells you it's custom made, which basically means "my dress is worth twice as much as the average person's monthly paycheck."
You continue to weave through the crowds and admittedly get a bit distracted, still thinking about the woman's compliment. As you turn into the hallway you witnessed your target disappear into, you bump straight into an oncoming person. A strong arm wraps around your waist before you can lose balance on your high heels.
"Woah there, doll. Straying too far, are we?" A tall man with dark hair looks down at you, his eyebrows raised.
Park Seonghwa. Just the man you were looking for.
"My apologies sir," you say quietly, feigning innocence and avoiding his eyes. His arm leaves your waist after steadying you. "I was wandering in hopes of finding a vacant room to lie down...I'm afraid I've had a bit too many drinks too early in the night." You stumble for dramatic effect, hoping he'll eat up your lies. "I have to sober up before the auction," you say, shaking your head. "Daddy will throw a fit if I spend all his money tonight."
The man looks amused. "Yeah? Better be careful, princess."
"I can handle myself," you say for the second time tonight, stepping closer to trace the pads of your manicured fingers over the fabric on his chest. He tilts your chin up gently, and you meet his intense gaze. He's breathtaking. Suddenly, you have an idea that seems much more fun than your previous plans.
Sorry Chan, you think as you press yourself against Seonghwa.
***
You didn't find anything of importance on Seonghwa's person, but you did manage to slip a tracking device into his suit pocket. Chan should be able to access his location any minute now.
You enter the auction room fifteen minutes before the event is scheduled to start, scanning the tables for your seat. It's dimly lit, a majority of the lighting coming from a screen behind the stage. You don't see Seonghwa seated anywhere yet.
"And what are the starting bids on you, lovely?" a low voice asks, breath tickling your ear. You turn to look at the owner of the voice, his strong facial features almost as striking as his neatly-styled red hair. He's practically undressing you with his eyes, and you can't say you hate it.
"Whatever you've got to offer, pretty boy," you reply sweetly. He smirks, pleased with himself as one of his hands finds your waist.
"My friend says you're not as innocent as you look."
"Pardon?" you ask. The man turns you around, your back against his broad chest as his free hand reaches up to your ear. Before you know it, your earpiece is on the ground in front of you, crushed beneath a polished designer shoe. Looking up, you see that the shoe belongs to none other than Park Seonghwa. Of course they're working together.
You freeze as something cold presses to the exposed small of your back.
Fuck.
"One wrong move and you're done for, princess," the man with red hair says calmly, lowering himself back down to your ear. "Try to cause a scene and innocent people will pay the price."
You take a deep breath before nodding your head in submission. You slowly turn back around and watch as he returns his gun to his shoulder holster, his expensive blazer completely concealing it. No one around you sees the ordeal, too distracted and eager to spend their money. The man then puts his arm around your shoulders, leading you out of the auction room. Seonghwa follows close behind, making sure you aren't able to slip away. You have no idea if he is armed at this point in time.
You're led into a large meeting room at the very end of the upstairs corridor, the bright moonlight seeping through the open balcony doors and illuminating the glossy wooden table at the center of the room. You catch a glimpse of the pretty garden below the balcony before the man guiding you throws you to the floor. You can feel the bruises forming on your knees instantly.
You don't dare fight back yet—your training in hand-to-hand combat doesn't do shit when your opponents are armed with guns, of course. You would attempt it if he were alone, but with Seonghwa present and potentially armed, you'd rather feel the situation out.
God, Chan will never let you out onto the field again. He's probably losing his mind now that you've lost contact with each other. Not to mention the fact that you were busted before you even had a chance to get what you came here for. The auction is going to start any minute, and now you're certain there are other ATEEZ members in the auction room that are ready to claim the Cromer instead of you.
You're angry with yourself for not being more prepared with your own weapon, but your favorite handgun unfortunately didn't fit under your dress of choice. You sigh to yourself. At least you look good in it.
"Give it up, sweetheart. We know what's going on here," the man with red hair says. Seonghwa locks the door behind him before speaking.
"I saw your wolf tattoo, and I've seen only one other just like it. You're working with Bang Chan," he states, is emotions unreadable.
No. You had forgotten to conceal your waist tattoo since your dress fully covers it. You hadn't expected to completely remove your dress tonight. Rookie mistake. You should expect everything.
"All this over a tattoo?" You eye him, downplaying the situation.
"How brave of you to interfere with our operation by yourself," the other man comments, ignoring your previous sentence. "No back up here to save you, huh?"
"Oh, you don't really believe she's here alone, do you, San?" Seonghwa asks. Choi San. You recognize that name. Seonghwa comes over to you, a completely different aura surrounding him now. He's intimidating, gripping your chin with much more force than he had earlier. "Be a good girl and tell us where your friends are, yeah? Don't make things difficult." A chill runs down your spine at his threat.
"I'm not here with anyone," you state. It's the truth. Even though Chan had insisted he wait in his car nearby, you convinced him to stay and monitor operations from your base. If you don't make contact within the next hour or two, he'll know something is wrong and follow Seonghwa's location.
"Wrong answer, princess." He grips your hair harshly and you wince. "I have a hard time believing that they would put you in a situation like this without back up. Where are they?"
It's sweet of him to underestimate you, honestly. You got yourself into this situation, and you're sure as hell going to get yourself out. You're already halfway done formulating your escape plan. "I said they're not here," you answer again. He lets go of your hair with a hiss.
"It would pain me to ruin such a pretty face...I think we'll let the boss deal with you."
The boss? Chan told you that no one knows the leader of ATEEZ—it's safe to assume that anyone who's seen him hasn't lived to tell the tale. You're not sure if he'll have any mercy at all to offer you. But maybe these two still have some in them.
"No, please!" you plead, your fists balled up as they rest on your thighs. "If I tell you where they are, will you go easy on me?" You let your head hang low, looking at the floor. San lowers himself in front of you and you find his eyes. You blink, letting a few tears slip down your cheeks.
"Sure, doll face. We will." You look away from him to briefly meet eyes with Seonghwa. He still stands at full height, arms crossed as he looks down at you. Perhaps it's your tears making your vision blurry, but you swear his gaze softens at the sight of you. You look back to San, sniffling.
"You promise?"
Now, never ever would someone in their right mind trust a promise from someone like them. But you're not planning on following through with your own side of the promise, either. Two can play at this game. You would never jeopardize the safety of SKZ...you told Chan you could handle yourself and you meant it.
"Promise," San says. He's truly something else, radiating such strong and convincing charm. You would fall for his promise in a heartbeat if you didn't know who he really was.
As you slowly rise from your knees, San stands with you. "They made me do it," you confess, more tears spilling from your eyes and taking your favorite mascara with them. "They said they would kill me if I didn't," you whisper, looking away.
"It's okay, doll," San says, coming closer to comfort you. You flinch before he touches you. "Just tell us where they are, okay? We'll help you." You bury yourself in his chest, your frame shaking in his arms as you cry quietly.
Your best performance yet, if you say so yourself.
After a long minute in his embrace, you begin to pull away. In the process, you grab the gun out of San's shoulder holster and hold the barrel to the center of his chest. He curses under his breath, raising his arms in defeat. You slowly step backwards, turning your aim to Seonghwa as a warning not to try anything, and then returning your aim to San. Seonghwa makes no attempt to grab for anything, so now you know for a fact that he is unarmed.
"I told you the first time that there's no one here with me." You smile. "But it's nice to discover that you both have a heart."
"Tell Chan we said hi," Seonghwa replies, irritated.
"Of course, it would be rude of me not to. It's truly been a pleasure, boys." You give Seonghwa a wink. "We'll meet again, right? Maybe you can introduce me to your boss next time."
You've backed up far enough to step onto the balcony, assessing the situation above and below. The garden below is deserted now that the auction has started, but it's a far drop to the ground. There is another balcony above you, but it seems a bit too high for you to escape to. You're trapped, so you're going to have to pull this off fast to avoid getting hurt.
All you can hear is the sound of your own heartbeat as you throw the gun over the railing into the garden. If you slip up, they could get their hands on it again, and you cannot let that happen. You'll fight the real way if you must.
As soon as it leaves your hands, the men launch at you. You quickly dodge them, ducking under San's punch and managing to sweep Seonghwa's leg, knocking him to the ground. Now that they're both on the balcony, you run back inside, shutting the french doors and locking them behind you. You know it will barely do anything to set them back—they could easily break them down if they wanted to. Through the glass, you watch as San pulls Seonghwa off the ground and looks at you. He doesn't make an immediate effort to get inside.
Is he letting you go?
You shouldn't wait around any longer to find out. You blow him a kiss before taking your exit out into the main hall.
But after stepping out, you see why they let you go...

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐌𝐎𝐕𝐄 [𝐓𝐖𝐎] — 𝐉𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐄 𝐓𝐀𝐘𝐋𝐎𝐑
one / masterlist / wattpad
summary: when you find yourself in a situation where you want to kiss Jackie, you're not sure you can make the first move. A fact made even harder when Nat is there to tease you about it.
warning/s: none really.
author's note: here's part 2! hope you like it whilst i sort through a ton of wips lol
I nodded along as Taissa was telling me about a colourful bird she'd seen earlier. We were eating some deer stew together outside the cabin, with the other girls settling down for dinner too, and it was basically a five star dinner with what we had out here.
"It was so pretty," Taissa finished. "And I swear it was following me."
I tried not to laugh. "Tai, I think you might have officially just lost it if the highlight of your day was a bird following you."
"Oh, shut up!" she said with a laugh, smacking me on the arm.
"Hey, don't take it out on my dinner!" I said lightheartedly, clutching my bowl of stew tightly with my one good hand.
"Idiot," she mumbled, but was smiling still.
"Hey, guys," Jackie said, joining us. "What did I miss?"
"Tai here was telling me about a pretty bird that wouldn't stop following her," I said with an amused smile, and it wasn't even an attempt at teasing her, but she nudged me again anyway.
"Quit it!" she warned, before giving Jackie a look. "It was so cool, Jackie."
"She's lost her mind," I told Jackie as she sat down opposite us with her dinner.
Jackie chuckled as she let Taissa tell her the story, and I stayed quiet as I heard it again. After Jackie gave her surprisingly positive input that didn't make fun of it, we all finished dinner and were about to get up together when Van called for Taissa, wanting her for something.
"It's okay, you go, I've got it," I told her, holding out my bowl. "Just put yours here."
"Thanks, Y/N," Tai said with a smile before stacking her bowl in mine, then looking to Van. "I'm coming!"
Joining Jackie, the two of us walked to the washing up area together when, suddenly, someone – I think it was Javi – ran past me and made me stumble backwards into Jackie. I bumped my broken arm in the process, making me curse as I inhaled sharply at the shooting pain up my shoulder.
"Watch where you're going!" Jackie yelled after Travis, who was running after his brother for God knew what reason.
"Come here," Jackie said softly, leading me to the steps of the porch of the cabin to sit down.
She took the bowls from my hand and set them to the side before leaning down before me, her hazel eyes searching mine worriedly.
"You okay?" she asked.
I breathed out slowly, trying to imagine the pain leaving my body, but the abruptness of the shove had hurt pretty bad. "Yeah, I think so."
She sighed, shaking her head. "They're jerks."
"It's fine," I said dismissively, knowing it was an accident.
She frowned, eyes flickering between mine, and I was forced to look away because I hated the sudden attention, my cheeks flushing at it. After what felt like forever, she grabbed the bowls from beside me and stacked them in hers.
"I've got this," she said, squeezing my knee comfortingly before standing up.
When she walked away, I let out a quiet breath of relief, not realising how nervous I'd been. So maybe this crush thing wasn't so fun anymore.
—
With crushing on Jackie meant wondering if she even liked me back, a question I wasn't sure I wanted to know the answer to. Sometimes I'd feel like she did, whether it be her lingering glances or ability to make me flustered, but then I'd second guess it as her personality and feel stupid for even considering otherwise.
For example, one time I was playing cards with Coach Scott when the blonde found me, asking to join in. So, we let her and played a few rounds of Go Fish before coach's leg was hurting and he left to take a nap.
"You wanna play acorn soccer?" Jackie asked with a playful glint in her eye.
I chuckled at the immediacy of her question. "Sure, why not?"
As we packed the cards away and left them on the side, I glanced around, noticing a few of the other girls were free.
"Should we ask the others?" I asked Jackie before we headed off.
She pretended to consider it. "We could... or we could save the hassle and just stick to us two?"
"Jackie!" I scolded lightheartedly.
"What?" she played along, flashing me a smile. "Someone's just gonna complain and then they'll spoil the fun. I like when it's just us."
I sighed, but gave her a small smile. "Fine. Let's go."
She grinned and led the way, and I had no choice but to follow her. It warmed my heart to know she enjoyed our time together too, but it was also one of those moments where I couldn't tell if I was seeing more into it than there was.
Luckily for me, I received an unbiased opinion on the matter without even asking for it. After Jackie and I played some acorn soccer together, we returned to the cabin before dinner and Jackie left to go catch up with Shauna. As I hung around to help with the fire, Nat found me.
"Hey," I greeted her with a smile. "You just come back from hunting?"
"Uh-huh," she said, before studying me curiously. "I have a question for you, Y/L/N."
Intrigued, I nodded encouragingly. "Shoot."
She knitted her eyebrows together with curiosity. "Since when did you and Jackie become so friendly?"
I shrugged, tossing some wood into the fire.
"Ever since she's been hanging out with you, she's been... nicer," she decided. "What d'you do?"
I gave her a disapproving look. "She was never mean, Nat, c'mon."
Nat weighed it up. "I guess, but sometimes she could be a real b–"
"Nat!" I smacked her arm gently, making her laugh.
"Look, all I'm saying is that girl is different," she said, motioning to the blonde who was chatting with Shauna, thankfully not in earshot of us. "And she definitely likes something about you."
"What can I say? I'm pretty likeable," I said jokingly.
She smirked knowingly. "Not like that, Y/N."
I lost my smile as she left me to it, wondering if she was right. I'd always thought it, but maybe if Nat was seeing it too then I wasn't going insane?
—
A few days later, I was helping Mari to hang some wet clothes on the washing line we'd strung up when something caught my attention.
"And where've you been?" Van asked someone, and I wouldn't have been intrigued if it weren't for the nonchalant response.
"Nowhere," Jackie replied, clearing her throat.
Curious, I glanced over my shoulder and saw Jackie returning to the cabin from somewhere or the other. The strange bit was seeing her clothes a little dirty, earth staining her denim shorts and white shirt. It was very unlike her to be so unkempt and dishevelled, from the mess of her hair to the mud on her nails. As the only one of us who seemed to actually still care how she looked, this was very out of the ordinary.
"Seriously?" I asked, reading Van's thoughts.
Jackie shrugged, wiping her hands on her shorts before heading around back, no doubt to wash off. I exchanged confused looks with Van before resuming with my job. Weird.
—
Struggling to sleep was something that hadn't really gotten better as time went on. You'd think it would considering it had been a month since we'd crashed here, but it was quite literally a hit and miss to whether I could actually fall asleep or not. And even then, at most, I'd get around five hours.
Tonight wasn't any different, and I was getting tired of the tossing and turning and forcing my eyes closed, so I accepted defeat and got up from my spot to sit in front of the fire. It was getting a little chillier in the air, the nights a little colder, and I feared what would happen when summer was over. But I tried not to overthink it right now, instead watching the wood burn a hot orange, embers crumbling off in the fireplace.
I sat there, hoping I'd succumb to fatigue soon enough, and then ten minutes passed and I heard movement from behind me.
"What are you doing?" It was Jackie, and she was yawning as she took a seat beside me, blanket hugging her.
Feeling bad, I said, "You don't need to–"
"Are you in pain?" she asked, waking up some more as she studied my expression.
"No," I breathed out, to which she relaxed. "Just couldn't sleep. Did I wake you?"
Another yawn, this time she tried to stifle it, and she shook her head. I wasn't stupid though, a frown on my lips.
"You can go back to sleep," I reassured her, in case she felt any moral obligation to be here.
Sly smile on her lips, she tilted her head to look at me. "Eager to get rid of me?"
I rolled my eyes, a smile tugging at my lips, and she chuckled quietly as to not wake anyone.
She nudged me with her shoulder, taking on a serious approach. "What's up?"
I stared back at the fire, finding it easier to tell the truth when I wasn't looking at her. "Just a lot on my mind."
"Like?"
Sighing quietly, I said, "This. My arm. Being rescued. It's been a month, Jackie."
She fell quiet, exhaling softly. "I know."
I wasn't sure why, but hearing the defeat in her voice only confirmed my fears – that we might be stuck here forever. Frowning, I looked down at my arm, remembering the day we crashed. The day everything broke down. The last day of our old life, but the first of our new one. How depressing.
"I had a dream about a cheeseburger last night," Jackie suddenly spoke, surprising me at the randomness of her comment.
"What?"
"Yeah," she continued like it was normal, nodding, "it was fresh from the grill, had cold lettuce, pickles, onions, tomatoes, that really good burger sauce with the bits of pickle in–"
"Jackie," I stopped her.
She looked to me, confused and almost offended that I'd interrupted. "What?"
Bizarre, that's what she was, and it made me laugh. Worried I'd woken up the others, I looked around, thankful that everybody was still fast asleep, and looked back to Jackie with a stifled smile.
"What are you going on about?" I asked her in a low voice.
The fire was casting shadows across her face, making the glimmer of gold in her hazel eyes shimmer as she spoke. "There were fries too. Hot and crispy and perfectly salted."
"Thanks," I said sarcastically, though smiling. "Now you've just made me hungry."
She laughed quietly, looking to the fire with approval. "Better than sad."
My smile didn't disappear as I admired her profile, the curve of her jaw, the soft smile imprinted on her face, her hair that was still messy from being asleep. I could have watched her forever, sat there like that, but then I noticed something stuck in her hair. A remnant of a leaf or something.
"You've got something in your hair," I said in a hushed voice, and she lifted a brow as she glanced at me.
"Huh?"
Figuring it was easier to get it out myself, I leaned forward and used my fingers to gently remove the leaf from behind her ear. She stayed still as I did, then I flicked it in the fire before looking back to her, realising she was watching me closely. It could have been the quiet of the night, the crackling of the fire, the proximity between us, but I was amazed by her beauty, eyes taking in her whole expression.
I was close enough to make out the freckles dusting her nose, her earth-coloured eyes which were focused on mine, even the pinkness of her lips as she licked them subconsciously, making my heart race in my chest. It would have been so easy to lean forward, to close the gap and kiss her, but I was terrified. What if Nat was wrong?
What if she was right?
No, I wasn't bold enough to make the first move. If Jackie wanted this – which, the longer she didn't move away from me made me feel like she did – she'd have to do it. Like the wimp I was, I pulled back, looking away. She sighed as she looked back to the fire, and if I couldn't sleep before, I definitely couldn't now.
"Thanks for staying up with me," I said, "but you should sleep."
"So should you," she retorted.
"I promise, I'll try," I said, before standing up and returning to my bed.
She did the same, the two of us tucking ourselves in a few beds over from one another. My heart was hammering away as I laid down, thoughts of Jackie infiltrating my head.
"Goodnight," she whispered.
I swallowed thickly. "Goodnight."
—
If wanting to kiss Jackie Taylor one time wasn't bad enough, having Nat tease me was even worse. She never outright said anything to me since telling me what she thought that one time, but she was certainly enjoying watching me squirm. Especially one evening, when we were all settled around the campfire.
I had my blanket wrapped around me as I sat close to the fire, appreciating the warmth. It wasn't super cold out tonight, but it was comforting nonetheless. Nat was sat on my right, a space between us, and then Jackie appeared, glancing down at me with a smile.
"This seat taken?" she asked.
Before I could even answer, Nat glanced at me with a stifled smirk, and I knew what she was thinking which made me embarrassed all over again.
Trying to ignore Nat, I answered Jackie, "No, go for it."
She grinned and sat in the space between us, and I gave her the other side of my blanket which she wrapped around her shoulders. It wasn't huge though, and she was forced to sit a little closer, close enough for me to make out the smell of the perfume she still spritzed on every morning for a sense of normalcy. It was distracting, as was the feeling of her arm and leg pressed up to mine, and I willed myself to snap out of it.
Suddenly, some of the girls were cheering on the other side of the fire, and then I tuned in when I realised they'd agreed to play a game of truth or dare. Nothing like a typical dumb party game to get everyone's minds off being stranded in the wilderness, right?
Admittedly, it was a little funny going around the circle and watching the stupid dares involving the girls drinking moonshine and flashing themselves, or listening to the amusing truths about someone stealing money from their parents or lying on school tests. For a moment, it was like we really were just at a dumb party.
Then it was my turn to go and Mari asked me if I wanted to pick truth or dare.
"Hmm," I thought aloud, being sure to choose wisely. "I guess I pick dare. I mean, how bad can it be when I only have one working arm?"
"Wanna bet?" Van threatened playfully, a devilish smile on her face which made all the other girls laugh.
Smiling with amusement, I didn't doubt her ability to make a fool of me, broken arm or not. "Damn, truth it is."
Everybody fell quiet as they thought of something to ask, and I wasn't worried in the slightest until Lottie decided to speak.
"This is such a go-to, I'm surprised it hasn't been asked," she said with a chuckle, before looking at me. "Do you have a crush right now? Maybe a long lost love back home?"
My smile was still on my lips, though wanting to disappear as I blinked and became acutely aware of everyone's eyes on me, especially the blonde beside me who was very much the root of my crush.
"Nope," I said as convincingly as I could, making everyone groan at my boring answer.
I truly believed I'd gotten away with it until I looked to Jackie beside me as she was next, but instead caught sight of Nat's mischievous grin beside her. Swallowing thickly, I pretended she wasn't there and looked back to Jackie who was already considering her answer as Mari asked the question.
"Truth," she chose excitedly.
"Oh, I've got a good one," Van said eagerly, before fixing Jackie with a curious look. "What's the most disgusting thing you've done since being here?"
A few girls snickered, and I hid a smile as I awaited Jackie's answer. Everybody knew Jackie acted like a princess, so this must've been good.
Jackie thought about it for a moment, looking up in consideration, before she scrunched her nose with disgust. "Okay, nobody kill me," she disclaimed, piquing everyone's interest, "but I accidentally used someone else's toothbrush one time."
Almost instantly, everybody began to talk over one another, demanding to know whose toothbrush she'd used, but Jackie wasn't having it.
"I don't know whose brush it was!" she exclaimed, embarrassed and avoiding everyone's eyes. "I answered your truth and there's no follow up questions. Also, you should really keep your things out of the communal areas. Just saying."
I suppressed the urge to laugh as a few girls scoffed with disbelief. Jackie glanced at me, both embarrassed and amused, a smile on her lips.
"Okay, Nat, you're up next," Mari moved on. "Truth or dare?"
Nat leaned back on her hands as she answered nonchalantly. "Truth."
"I've got a good one," Shauna said, entertained smile aimed at Nat. "Who do you think has lied tonight?"
Everybody began to 'ooh' at her question, knowing it would be the start of some drama which we had so little of out here. I didn't consider it much, until Nat answered without missing a beat.
"Y/N."
I widened my eyes at her response, looking past Jackie and to a smirking Nat. Everybody was watching the two of us like a tennis match.
"What? Why?" I asked Nat calmly, not wanting to betray anything.
Nat only shrugged indifferently. "Dunno. It just can't be true that you don't have a crush."
I kept my cool as I said, "Well, it is."
"Maybe," Nat said, "but I don't believe it."
"Well, you're wrong," I said a little too quickly.
She laughed, unbothered by my defensiveness. "Okay. It's just my opinion."
My cheeks were flaming as I looked to the fire with embarrassment.
"Doesn't matter anyway," Nat added as an afterthought, enjoying tormenting me. "There'd be no way of you letting your crush know. It's not like they're here, right?"
I hoped Jackie couldn't feel the heat exuding from my skin as I sat there silently, distracting myself with my bottle of water and unable to respond to Nat's teasing. Thankfully, the subject was changed with the next person's turn, and I reminded myself to kill Nat later. She was enjoying this a little too much.
Once we'd gone around the circle once, it was getting late and a little nippy outside, so a few girls began to leave. Nat was one of them, winking at me playfully as she walked past, and just as I rolled my eyes, Jackie looked to me with confusion.
"What was that about?"
"Just Nat being Nat," I mumbled.
Unconvinced, she continued to stare at me with furrowed brows. "What was she doing earlier? Why did she say you were lying?"
"What?" I said, hoping to buy some time as I thought of a reason, because I definitely didn't expect her to say anything about it. "Oh, nothing. She was just trying to be funny."
Jackie licked her lips before pursing them. I thought she'd drop it, but then she narrowed her eyes at me suspiciously.
"Is it Nat? Your supposed crush?"
I almost choked on my spit. "What?"
Her expression softened. "Is that why she was teasing you? Because you like her?"
Shaking my head instantly, I said, "No, no. That's literally not it at all. If anything, Nat is a pain in my arse."
Jackie hummed quietly, looking back at the fire which was on its way to burning out. I exhaled with relief, finding it ironic that she thought it was Nat who I liked. Oh, how wrong she was.
"So, whose toothbrush was it?" I asked, changing the subject, knowing she was lying earlier.
She paused. "Misty's."
I snorted with amusement. "Yeah, she would've killed you if she found out."
Jackie smiled in agreement, hiding her laugh. I couldn't seem to look away, lost in her stunning profile, lit up by the fire. It was deja vu. Her blonde hair appeared golden, her eyes a kaleidoscope of green and brown, and her lips... they were pink and soft and I wanted to kiss her again, just like last time.
She suddenly turned to look at me, soft smile gracing her lips, and I was too warm in this blanket, our bodies so close that I wouldn't be surprised if she could feel the heat from my skin, a consequence of how nervous she was making me with a simple glance. All I had to do was lean in, but I couldn't.
"I think you're lying too," she muttered with amusement.
Dumbfounded, I asked, "What?"
She clarified, "About not having a crush."
I raised my eyebrows, making her chuckle quietly before patting my leg.
"C'mon, it's cold," she said, before standing up and leaving me with me the blanket, probably assuming I would follow her.
But I was too surprised at what she'd said. That was a hint, right? She knew? She knew I liked her?
Should I have kissed her?
—
I wet some scrap material in the lake, my only source for something cold in the wilderness, and carefully wrapped my broken but healing arm in it. It acted as a terrible ice pack, but I sighed with relief at the cool feeling.
It had been a month and a half since we'd been stranded, a month and a half since my arm broke. I couldn't be sure it was healing correctly, since it still hurt when I moved it and looked a little weird, but the swelling was gone and I didn't need to rely so much on the limited medication we had.
Still, I couldn't do everything I wanted to and I really missed having two working arms. Even now, as I looked out at the lake and saw some of the others swimming in the water, I was jealous. God, I was so bored. Even a swim would be nice, but I physically couldn't.
Instead, I took a spot by the shore and laid on my back, using my arm to shield the sun from my eyes and have a little nap. I didn't completely doze off, just enough to tune out my surroundings for a little while, but then I felt a shoe gently kick at my leg.
"Huh? What?" I asked tiredly, lowering my arm.
Jackie was stood above me, eager smile on her face. I hated the way the butterflies began to swirl in my stomach, all because the sun crafted her silhouette so perfectly. Stupid. Crush.
"I've got a surprise for you," she said.
I sat upright, rubbing my eye. "What does that even mean?"
"Come find out," she exclaimed, before grabbing my hand without warning and pulling me up.
"Jackie–"
"Close your eyes," she instructed with a suppressed grin.
I gave her a disapproving look. "Seriously?"
She shook my arm encouragingly. "C'mon! You're gonna love it. I hope."
Very curious and also still a little out of it from my nap, I decided to entertain her and closed my eyes. She didn't let go of my hand as she dragged me somewhere carefully. I wasn't sure where at first, but then the ground was full of grass and sticks, and leaves were skimming my bare arms the further she led me, and I guessed we were back in the woods.
"Okay, we're here," she said suddenly, stopping abruptly. "Open."
I sighed, opening my eyes and blinking a few times. We were at the usual spot we played acorn soccer in, and I didn't know what the surprise was, but then I saw it. It was some sort of goal or net made of sticks twisted together in an awkwardly shaped dome, about the height of my knee and the width of my outstretched arms.
"What is this?" I asked with an amazed smile, running forward to study it closely.
"You gotta have a target, right?"
I laughed. "This is sick, Jackie!"
She chuckled from behind me. "I'm glad you like it."
"Wait," I realised, turning around to look at her. "Is this what you've been doing?"
It explained why she would sometimes return to the cabin looking a little messy, but I never expected her to be building this. DIY wasn't really her thing.
"Why? You been keeping tabs?" she teased, crossing her arms.
I sighed softly, thinking back to the first time I'd said that to her. Funnily enough, in this very spot.
"You're such an idiot," I said, rolling my eyes playfully, before moving forward to hug her.
She returned it before asking, "Wanna test it out?"
I stared at her with an obvious look. "Duh!"
She grinned and we returned to our usual positions for acorn soccer, though this time we had an actual 'net' and it raised the stakes in the best way possible. I still couldn't believe she'd done this for me.
As I dribbled the acorn 'ball', throwing in some fancy footwork just to annoy Jackie, she put her foot out and I tripped over it, hitting the ground instantly. It didn't hurt, though was definitely surprising, but I thought it would be funny to make Jackie feel bad anyway.
"Ow!" I shouted, rolling onto my back and pretending to clutch my broken arm.
Her expression transformed into one of concern as she gasped. "Oh, shit, are you okay?! I didn't mean to–"
I pushed my foot out slightly before she could finish, easily knocking her forward onto the ground, landing right next to me with a thud. Laughter spilled from my mouth almost instantly, only increasing when she lifted her head to playfully glare at me, a dirt mark on her cheek.
"You asked for it," I said knowingly, before sitting upright.
I offered her my hand as she sat up too, legs intertwined with mine as she wiped her hands onto her shorts.
"Did I actually hurt you?" she asked, tilting her head towards me with a smile.
"You did not," I assured her with amusement, making her sigh with defeat.
"Not funny," she pointed out, which was hard to believe when her eyes were sparkling with anything but seriousness.
I snickered, before my eyes fell to the dirt mark on her cheek. "You've got a little something..."
Motioning to my cheek, she furrowed her brows and lifted her hand to her own to try and get it, but she missed.
"What?"
"Just right–"
"Here?"
I scoffed lightheartedly before using my thumb to get rid of it for her, wiping it away in a few swipes. I had to cup her jaw as I did, not even realising what I was doing until she exhaled softly and her breath dusted my lips. I paused, eyes flickering to hers, and that feeling came back, along with the nerves that always accompanied them. She looked between my eyes before hers fell to my lips, and mine did the same. I wanted to lean in, so so badly, but as usual, my body became paralysed with fear. Why was this so hard?
Like the wimp I was, I was about to let go of her jaw and pull away, ready to pretend this never happened. But she surprised me when she spoke up.
"Just do it."
I blinked, surprised, briefly meeting her half-lidded gaze, and that was all the confirmation I needed. Pushing away my fears, I finally leaned in, kissing her. She sighed into my mouth, moving her hand to the back of my neck to pull me even closer, and I had goosebumps all over at the feeling of her lips on mine. It was slow, long-awaited and wonderful, and I regretted not making a move sooner.
When we pulled apart, my heart was racing and I opened my eyes, only to be submerged in pools of hazel.
"Getting a kiss from you is like pulling teeth, I swear," she murmured, lips curving into a satisfied smile.
Flushing with embarrassment, I cleared my throat and let go of her. "Nothing stopped you from making the first move, y'know."
"And do all the work?" she asked rhetorically. "I left so many hints. I thought you would've taken them."
"I wasn't sure," I admitted, lips still tingling. She rolled her eyes teasingly, but I continued, "I couldn't be sure. Not with you. Not for me."
"You still sound doubtful," she noticed, smile fading a little.
I wasn't sure what to say because a small part of me still was. Accepting that Jackie Taylor had wanted me to kiss her was something I wasn't sure I'd ever get used to.
Suddenly, she kissed me again, brief but enough to have me second guessing my own name. When she pulled away, a knowing smile was on her lips.
"How about now?" she asked, and all I could do was swallow hard with warm cheeks.
She laughed before helping me up off the ground. We dusted ourselves off and then she held out her hand towards me.
"Let's head back," she said, and I smiled as I accepted her hand.
We walked back to the cabin, me personally feeling like I was on cloud nine because the girl I liked actually liked me back.
"So, the thing with Nat," Jackie brought up as we headed back. "The crush and the lying thing. That was about me?"
Oh, God, why was everything so embarrassing?
"Yes," I admitted reluctantly. "She was teasing me because she knew I wouldn't make a move."
This made Jackie chuckle. "She wasn't wrong."
I shot her a sideways glance. "Thanks for the reminder."
"Oh, c'mon," she said between laughter, "don't pout."
I rolled my eyes lightheartedly. "It's fine, don't worry. Let's just all laugh at Y/N because she couldn't kiss the girl, ha, ha, ha."
Jackie kept laughing, though I knew it wasn't out of spite. Besides, at least I'd finally made a move. That was all that mattered.
At least, it did for the next two minutes until we reached the cabin and I saw Nat sat on the steps, taking note of the two of us holding hands.
"And here we go," I whined to myself.
Jackie's smile, still on her face from the amusement of my inability to make the first move, faded as she glanced between Nat and I.
"Hey, Nat!" she called to the blonde, confusing me and earning her attention.
As soon as Nat looked our way properly, Jackie let go of my hand and kissed me, cupping my face between her hands and taking her time. I was so surprised when she pulled away, as was Nat, not expecting her to be so outright with it.
"What–"
"Anything to add?" Jackie cut me off, instead looking to Nat with a quirked brow that dared her to tease me.
Nat shook her head. "Not at all. Huh."
Satisfied, Jackie smiled sweetly and I was sure my face was hot with embarrassment. I probably should've seen that coming, but also, how could I have?
"Good job," Nat said to me as she walked past us, impressed smile on her lips.
I blinked, before looking to Jackie. "Erm, thanks?"
"Hey, she may have been right, but only I get to tease you about it," she said in a way that sounded like she was joking but I knew she wasn't.
I breathed out, small smile on my face. I may have been the shy one, but at least I had Jackie to rely on. It's not like I'd ever have to make the first move again anyway. The hard part was over.

xo, call me
“so if its feeling right
why should we say goodbye?”
masterlist
a/n hi guysss!! im back bc i finished my exams this week. im deadass tired and trying to not fall asleep. anyways enjoy
warnings not proofread, mentions of ex bf
| the final bell rang in bio, making your way to math class. you usually stayed on the 3rd floor, waiting for all the chaos on the staircases to die down. you wore a black sweatshirt, jeans, along with your black converse. you hair was half-up half-down with a red bow. as you were walking to math, your ex found you in the hallway. he had always been very clingy, never understanding.
“hey there pretty girl.” he said to you as he followed you down to the first floor. you got icked out immediately.
“leave me alone please.” you told him, attempting to walk faster.
“not when you look this beautiful.” he said, as he grabbed your arm to make you stay close to him.
“dont touch me!” you said in a stern tone, immediately making sure he released your arm. thankfully by your surprise, a girl was watching the whole time.
she had auburn hair that was up half-up half-down and went above her shoulders, green eyes, and freckles. she wore a hoodie with green parachute pants.
the way she saw the situation, she was immediately worried, so she decided to step in.
“the fuck you think you’re doing?” she said to the guy.
“talking to the prettiest girl i know.” he replied, looking straight into your eyes.
she wrapped her arm around your neck and shoulder. “a girl thats taken.”
you looked at her, “wait wh-?”
she gave you a look, basically telling you to shut up in a nice way. then it clicked.
“what your mouth next time you’re around her, or ill kick your ass. got it?” she repeated defensively.
the guy wasn’t scared, but annoyed. he left in defeat, a scoff leaving his mouth as he rolled his eyes.
“hope you didn’t mind. i didn’t like the way he talked to you. im ellie.” ellie said.
“no, thank you. i really appreciate it.” you told her.
on the outside, you looked fine. but on the inside, you we’re freaking out. not because of fear, but because of how brave she was. she did that, for you. for your safety. you blushed at the thought of her defending you again.
“how do you know him? seems like a bitch.” she asked, as you both walked down in the hallway.
“ex-boyfriend, sadly.” you replied. “but once again, i really thank you for helping me out there. do you mind if i get your number?” you didn’t think twice as the words left your lips.
“oh no, not at all.” she said as she handed you her phone to put your number in. “thanks”
“see you again sometime?” you asked nervously.
“yeah, see ya.”
your brain was still trying to comprehend and process what the fuck just happened, as everything happened so fast.
a few hours later the school day ended. you decided to text ellie.
r: “hii”
e: “heyy, how ru?”
r: “im good wbu?”
e: “tired”
r: “same.”
e: “dyk if you have any classes with me?”
r: “no not really, whats your schedule?”
ellie then sent a photo of each block that she had, 1-7.
r: “we have math and history together”
e: “i can finally have someone to talk to, lol”
r: “sameee”
e: “hey about earlier, sorry if i pushed a boundary i didn’t know about. i just didn’t like the way he talked to you, it just made my blood boil. if you don’t wanna talk to me anymore, i completely understand. i wont take it personal.”
r: “nonono, i really liked it that you stuck up for me. no ones ever done that for me before. and i do want to keep talking to you. you seem like a really cool person.”
e: “thank you, thats one of the best compliments ive received.”
r: “im gonna head to bed, but ill see you tomorrow! good night”
e: “night 💫”
as you put your phone away, it was hard to fall asleep. all you did was think about her. she was on your mind for that entire night. because what you both had, felt right.
weeks went by, and you guys became an incredible duo. you both were always together. you knew what made each other smile, happy, laugh, cry, become sad, and so much more.
finally, it was hoco week. you already knew what to wear, since the theme was ocean. as you got to school, ellie asked you the question that every student asked their peers. “are you going to homecoming?”
“yeah, i really wanna go. i already have my outfit. i dont have a date, but its fine.” you told her.
the bell rang, signaling for students to get to their first class. “ive got dance, ill see you later tho.” you told her
“peace, i got bio-med.” she replied.
block 1 officially ended, giving students a 15 minute passing period. you sat outside, waiting for ellie. “wheres this girl?” you thought. suddenly, a crowd began to form. you turned around and saw ellie standing infront of you, with a poster and flowers. everyone had their phones out, recording your answer and reaction.
your face lit up in shock, with you hands covering your face. will you be my supermodel for the weekend @ hoco? the poster said. “she remembered my fav artist, sza. and my fav flowers.” you thought. “yes!!” you said as you ran up to hug her.
“im not done.” she told you in your ears as you gave her a hug. “will you be my girlfriend?”
this moment couldn’t be real. it was all a dream. you were on cloud 9. you wanted someone to pinch you. “of course i will.” you replied as you gave her a kiss on her lips.
i’ve been everywhere, seen everyone
but what we got feels right.

Jihyo x M/F Reader - "Just A Feeling"
This book makes a return today! For this oneshot, I'm sorry if this one may be complicated to read since I didn't make any outline for it and kind of... weird to read too, especially for female readers out there. This one is actually intended to be only for male readers because I think the plot of this suits them better since the story came from my perspective as a guy and from a real-life experience I'm currently going through. Don't worry though, I still tried my best to make this applicable to everybody since I made some changes to make it gender neutral, plus there's opinions from some various featured female K-Pop idols as my characters that portray my real-life classmates here, which female readers might relate to. So yeah, basically what you're about to read here is based on a true story (except starting from the climax until the end, which I just made up from my imagination since I haven't confessed yet lol.) about my huge crush with this one genuine girl from our class. And oh, I've said it already that it's not gonna be a fluff right? It's not gonna be a tearjerker though but for the softies there, this might hurt. Don't worry though, I'm going to write a one-shot special on weekend that relies more on fluff. Finally saw something that inspired me to write, that's why. Heh.
I was eating in our cafeteria along with my circle of friends in our room, talking about—well, guess what—sex education. We were trying our best to remain open-minded about the topic. Honestly, I don’t even have any idea why we would insert this topic to arrange a conversation in the middle of the public.
I know that these things should be taken seriously because they provide knowledge on how to establish a healthy sexual life in the future, but I just couldn’t help but feel a bit ashamed. Well, I wouldn’t be if only these girls would just lower their mouths whenever they'd ask or mention a term, especially when it’s too silly to hear.
I was afraid that others might hear us and lose appetite because of what we were discussing. I already made my move, providing a question pertaining to my curiosity and thankfully they answered me with the expected answer I wanted to know. That’s why I moved my head and roamed my eyes around to distract myself away from them since I don’t really find their current discussion interesting to me.
Looking around, there are many students along with us doing their own business mindfully. Eating together or alone in their respective spots and typing on the computer or writing notes as they review for their subject while on a break. Each was from different courses and grade levels, and of course we wouldn’t be the exception.
Some of our classmates too were on the another table, with them being formed together into their own circle they belong in. That is, until my eyes landed on her again as I check upon them. The girl with sharp jawline, boyish wild haircut, adorable with a touch of chic aura in her visual, and those big eyes I couldn’t avoid but to get sucked in whenever I get to be in contact with those shimmering pairs of hers.
The name of the girl I’m describing with much creativity and detail is Park Jihyo. She’s currently one of our brightest students in our class. If I’ll compare myself to her, well my intelligence is pretty below average and subpar to her attributes.
Whenever I glanced at her, I couldn’t help but pause and take a short time to admire what my sight was displaying for me. Just like today, she has that serious expression that I find both intimidating and… hot? Yeah, yeah, fine, you got me. I do think of her sometimes as a dominant or possessive girlfriend who loves to claim and tease, and I do get a bit intense and aroused just by thinking about it, especially when it fits her a lot along with her lean figure.
Damn it, you wouldn’t blame me. She literally is the embodiment of a girl crush that others would kneel on their knees for her. I may have not saw somebody like that, but oh I can’t just deny those words I’ve heard from the girls and guys on my room simping for her.
Setting aside to those qualities, I’ll make it plain and simple that she’s that beautiful in my eyes. I don’t care if I’m falling in love to a boisterous and fiery tomboy like Jihyo. Deep inside of that cool and boyish appearance of hers, I couldn’t count how many times I’ve encountered that soft girly demeanor she was hiding. That time when she squealed and raised both her fists in the air while looking appalled as the volleyball almost hit her face during our class in physical education would be my favorite.
She smiled again and laughed at whatever they were talking about, which is effectively contagious. She has that much effect on me already. Whenever her mood is, will be the same as mine. Guess I could say that’s how I could tell that I’m highly attached on her now.
I was so busy complimenting and being in awe of her that I almost responded too late when I saw Jihyo start to move her eyes around, and she went in the direction I was in. Just a little angle she shifted, and she would’ve caught my eyes staring at her, looking like it was attempting to hallucinate and connect to mine too.
But I was too weak for that, as always. I’m always weak for her. I pretend I didn’t just went to their side and busy admiring her as I returned to my friend’s discussion while my peripheral vision has unknown whether she felt like someone was stalking at her or as usual, nothing.
2 days later, we were waiting for the Calculus class to end because our professor has left us for some numerous problems to solve on the board and use it as an advantage to increase our points in recitation. He definitely might’ve went again to the mall and go eat samgyupsal again with his officemates at the faculty room that’s why we know we already have the freedom to be noisy and indulge on those differential equation as much as we want.
Our professor is busy grilling meat and stuffing wagyu meat in his mouth while us as his students were busy grilling our minds and stuffing numbers across the board.
While I was confidently sitting on my chair just watching my classmates go berserk on dribbling equations of their own since I already had my turn to have a recitation point, my female classmate named Miyeon invited me for a chat with her because mainly she’s bored.
We did chatter for any laughable random topics for like 10 minutes until I heard her enter a question that had me locked in on my seat.
“Say, YN. I noticed that you had shared so many sad posts about romance these days on Facebook. Are you heartbroken?” She asked me.
“Uhh… that? W-well, I just like those kind of posts. Nothing much.” I smiled fakely at her.
“You sure?” She stared at me. I just nodded and awkwardly removed my gaze at her as I act like I was trying to keep myself busy on my notes.
“You have a crush on someone, don’t you?”
I slowly turned around and my stupid self chose to rose my brows making myself shocked rather than meeting itself and show some confusion. Now I’m busted.
“H-how can you say so?”
“Wouldn’t most of the people around social media does that whenever they admire somebody and they just left to be… unwanted back?” She shared. “I’ve been through that, that’s why I know.”
I remained silent as I sighed. I glanced at Jihyo again, she was being recorded now by one of our close friends in the room as she explains the solution she wrote on the board. That’s what our professor instructed us to do so that he can acknowledge our points, is to sent him our video that we’re tackling about the equation we answered.
“There is, huh.” She confirmed. I was being too obvious already so with defeat, I just let her expose me more. “She’s in our class isn’t it?”
My eyes widened. My body trembled as she already made another guess but a more accurate one this time. Miyeon seems to be an observative type of person, and more untrained and horrible attempts of pretending that I contradict her guesses would just make me look dumber in front of her.
I sighed and chuckled at myself from getting caught. “Yeah. She is.”
“Woah!” She exclaimed. “So YN here also has a crush of his/her own here huh!” She teased me as she referred to me being another addition to those established “couples” in our room. Most of them were now officially together and others, well I don’t know but mostly I’ve learned these days that they already confessed and sadly, they were rejected but still remains to be a tough lover for them.
“Who’s your crush then?” I shushed her with my gesture, as there’s our classmates still sitting in front of us and they might hear us. I don’t want tk get humiliated more just by being put into a hot seat getting confronted who’s the girl i’m into these days.
“D-do you want me to give you a clue?” I asked, I wanted to play a game with her first she already caught me easily, now I want to test her this time.
“Oh sure, what is it?”
“Okay, hmm….” I hummed but I didn’t think that much because i already knew what I would give to her. “She’s a person.”
“Luh.” She reacted and whined. “Cmon, be serious!”
I just laughed at her befuddled response and think again, with all seriousness this time. “Okay, fine. She’s a social butterfly.”
“Ooohhh social butterfly…” Miyeon started to think. “There’s so many classmates of ours that are giddy to get close with others. Is it Jiyeon?”
“Nope. 19 left.” I said, crossing out one from the list of number of girls in our room.
“Aaaahhhh!” She screamed but jokingly, already panicking at just one guess. “Whooo?”
“Try more!”
“Aish, is it Julie?”
“Nope.”
“Ehhh?” She scratched her nape. “Next clue!”
“Okay fine, I’ll give you just three okay?” She nodded and readjusted her posture on her seat, she seemed very invested on knowing who my crush is. “The second one is… she’s smart.”
“Smart…” she began thinking again. “But most of us here are very good at anything.”
I smirked, feeling satisfied that I gave a mysterious clue for her more. “Is it Mina?”
“Nah.” I shook my head, but I admit in my thoughts that i almost fell for Mina once like back when we were freshman.
“Danielle?!” Miyeon’s eyes brightened as she thought she finally achieved the right answer. I shook my head and gave her an apologetic look, which shuts off the spark in her eyes instantly.
Miyeon pouted and lets out an even struggling look at me. “I’m starting to run out of ideas!”
“Miyeon you’ve only told me like… 5 of our classmates so far.”
“Fire the last clue!”
“Okay. The last one is that… you probably won’t expect her to be my crush.”
Her eyebrows lifted and hummed fascinatingly at me. “That just made things interesting. Won’t expect to be your crush? So it means it’s not actually your type but you just seem to get a liking on that person?”
“Hmm maybe?”
“Wait…” she paused that lasted a little bit longer than just few seconds. Her head raised and I wondered why her eyes softened as she slowly looked at me and pushed her head closer.
“What? You got the answer now?”
“YN… is it me?” Miyeon asked. She was staring at me with pure seriousness and jaw hanging slightly in surprise. I gasped as I was shocked at her answer. I know that she’s one of the girls around who is also pretty but still I didn’t expect that it really came out of her mouth, that she also considered herself too.
“N-no! It’s not you and Miyeon, you already have a boyfriend.”
“Yeah.” She agreed, understandably took my reason well. “But… it’s just a crush though, so…”
“Still no. I don’t fall in love to women who are already taken. I respect relationships and I don’t want to create conflicts for other people. Although, I admit that you’re beautiful.” I smiled at her. She returned the same and pushed my shoulder. “Wow, just like that huh?”
“I don’t know, you sound like you were urging me to say something nice to you atleast.”
“I wasn’t! B-but that doesn’t mean I won’t take your compliment at me.” She giggled. “Anyways, I pass. Cmon tell me who it is!”
I exhaled. To be fair, I wasn’t really up for sharing this with anybody. It’s not that I don’t want anybody to know because I don’t trust them, but I’m doing this rather to avoid the possibility that she may learn more about what I really feel for her from other people. I just want to be a complete secret admirer of her.
However, since I was already cornered by Miyeon, it seems like my plans have to undergo some changes. I feel a bit of pity for this girl because she has shared some of her stories with me, and I listened and kept them all to myself, just like she wanted to. Thatimplies that she views me as someone she can trust.
That’s why I felt obligated that I had to treat her in the same manner. I mean, Miyeon is one of the girls in our class that I find really pure and mature and who knows how to blend well when having fun with other people.
“Fine. You know I never really intended to tell this to others because for some reasons, I don’t want anybody to tease me, accidentally become obvious, or make others bother with what I’m facing at right now… but I do trust you Miyeon, you know that. And please let’s keep it to ourselves okay?”
“Oh don’t worry about me.” Miyeon then bounced on her seat with a large grin. “I’m so excited to know!”
“W-well… the girl that I’m-”
“What are you two up to?” My other classmate interrupted our conversation, looking at us as she twirled her body on the chair to go back and forth at us. I was surprised that we’re like able to be caught despite our distances being one vacant row from each other. Our voices aren’t even that loud.
Miyeon and I exchanged glances and she was controlling her laughter as she saw me looking nervous. “W-we’re just playing a game! He’s trying to make me identify who is-”
“Aahhhh wait, I think I know what you two are talking about.” Her eyes then shrinked and it went towards me who is blushing. She smirked and find my current state hilarious. “I’ve been seeing something about this one eh. I think I know who may that be.”
Both Miyeon and I were eager to know, especially me who is heavily related to the one she was talking about. About our conversation with Miyeon, she finally learn who that is and she was amused to know that she agrees at the clues I gave to her. She really didn’t expected that I’ll be admiring somebody like Jihyo and commented that it wasn’t visible to me all these time. She couldn’t blame me though for having a crush with Jihyo, as she revealed that she’s bisexual and she once had a crush on her too before she met her boyfriend.
Meanwhile, about our other classmate who is holding a thought that shares my secret. I wanted to know about it. Thankfully, both of us were walking home together since Nako which is her name, lives almost close to our neighborhood.
We were riding on a bus and we talked about what she said earlier. I had no choice but to reveal to her since I already did it to Miyeon and it’s going to be unfair if I don’t do it for her too. She might feel offended that I rather not to disclose it to her.
She learned and she laughed so hard that she was actually right which had me speechless. She found it interesting too just like Miyeon that I got to be in love with someone like Jihyo. Me on the other hand, has a huge “How?” question displayed on my head.
She only replied that it’s her guts that is telling her and even her didn’t expected that she would got it correct. What she said though did had me find it difficult to maintain my smile. “But really, for me I don’t see Jihyo being attracted to a guy/girl. It’s more possible that she’s rather into girls because of her looks, but she did told me one time what does she think of her gender and she only told me that it’s complicated. Will it still going to be okay for you knowing that your rivals when it comes to her were all female/male?”
She shared to me her observation and I got it immediately what her basis for that. I suddenly had Jihyo on my mind along with her tomboy look that can make girls crazy and gay for her. “I don’t know, I don’t mind it that much. They can all admire her for whatever they want. What matters to me more is Jihyo. Only her.” I just said nonchalantly to her, which she find a bit suspicious why I care less about it.
Whether by coincidence or not, more and more days have passed, and my other classmates that I’m close with are all girls. Have I mentioned that I’m comfortable and easy to befriend with girls rather than guys? I never had a sister in my life; that’s why I view them as my sister-like figures, but still, I know how to set my boundaries with them due to society’s common stereotype of seeing two opposite genders together.
They all also began to know my adoration for Jihyo, and they are either secretive or teaseful about it, and I find myself on the brink of danger whenever they do that on occasions that me and Jihyo would have an interaction together. Some examples I can give are when I, along with Nako and her, were discussing our anticipation of attending the concert of our favorite K-pop group this coming week.
I was expressing my loneliness to them rather because I wasn’t entirely sure if my parents would allow me to attend such a huge event like that and for me also to travel to a place that is very far away from our city. I was about to give up my hopes until a certain person simply boosted my faith again and not wanting to let me go that easily.
“You should go to that concert, YN! It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity, you should not waste it!”
Jihyo spoke to me and she gave me that hopefulness and positivity. She knew I might need it for her and if that so then she’s damn right. I couldn’t ask for anything more than to hear a support and concern than from her.
And later that night, I tried to ask my parents about it, and shockingly, they allowed me to, as long as I had someone with me. Nako joined me, while Jihyo went with her sister. I got a little excited, thinking I was going to be with her too, but that’s just fine. At least, I still got some heart-bursting interaction with her on social media when we both exchanged heart reactions on our posts about our experience at the concert.
Another time I could give that one of the best things I would want to just happen forever in my life was when I got unexpectedly sick in the school, and what’s even more suck about the timing is that we were rehearsing for our roleplay performance in just 3 days.
Our director set me aside for now and gave me a time to recover but ofcourse the worry of me not being able to make it to the deadline struck a fear on him. I just lay down on one of the benches with all of my classmate’s bags around me. I tried to sleep but the pain in my head just won’t let me go in peace.
I was about to go to the clinic with no other option in mind because I didn’t actually want to go there because, um, yeah, call me a scaredy cat, but I’ve heard many times from some of the students, including my classmates, that our school nurse is a terror. She’s so strict that there’s no doubt that once she finds me, my temperature will be high. Since the pandemic happened, these medical professionals have been very careful for the past few years.
One positive detection and surely I’m gone for today. I just sighed defeatedly because I wanted to practice today and to see her ofcourse. I sat up and gave myself time to prepare myself as I might feel dizzy standing up, but then I heard some footsteps and felt arms wrapped around me.
“J-jihyo?” I exclaimed weakly. She must’ve felt my body trembled in shock as I found her beside me. She just looked at me and tightlipped.
“You’re going to the clinic now?”
“Yeah. I have to.”
“You can’t do it by yourself. Look how weak you look. Cmon, I’ll join you on your way there.”
“Y-you sure? B-but they might look for you and-
“I just finished rehearsing my part. My next one is three acts after, so they wouldn’t mind.” Jihyo said. “But it’s up to you, can you do it by yourself?”
“Actually, I really didn’t want to go home yet.” I said with sincerity of sadness on my voice.
“I know, but you have to.” Jihyo said to me. “Let’s go.”
We started walking, and I gave one last look at my classmates. I caught Miyeon, who saw me with Jihyo smiling at us, and I knew what that meant. We went together to the clinic, and I feel embarrassed that I had to make a girl wait for me outside, even though she didn’t mind me that much. The nurse wasn’t even that scary; she was rather strict, but in the sense that she’s doing it because she cares for the students’ health.
She found my fever weird because… hmm how can I say this, well it’s like my temperature risen due to hunger, dehydration and possibly some changes of temperature also to the places I’ve been at since she discovered that I don’t actually feel dizzy or aching on my head.
That’s why due to my determination to remain here, she dared me to atleast decrease my temperature by having a meal and lots of water on the canteen or else she’ll have to excuse me to my instructor.
I went out of the clinic, accepting the challenge and Jihyo was just there sitting and using her cellphone. She felt my presence reappeared and she greeted me. “How’s there?”
I repeated what the nurse told me. “Come on, let’s eat at the canteen first if that so.”
“Yeah.”
“My treat.”
“Wait, what?”
We stopped walking. “Why? What’s the problem?”
“N-nothing, I just… didn’t expect it.”
“Just don’t do anything for now. Since I accompanied you, let me just be like that today before we get back there.”
In my surprise, Jihyo wrapped her arm around my shoulders, giving me that bro-cuddle. I felt super shy and almost going to melt because of the skinship she’s doing to me. It’s ironic how her touch can beat the warm temperature running across my body.
She was the one who bought our food and drinks together and she returned to our place with it. We just took our meal quietly then short talks about our interests again, but it was still enough for me. I give some sneak glances at Jihyo on my side, observing her sipping that iced coffee while she busily scrolls down on her phone.
My body suddenly felt lighter and numb, I think my sickness didn’t even exist to worry myself as I was just busy admiring her all over again. Not gonna lie, this just had me spawning another idea to imagine being with her more. A date with her is something I’d definitely would love to have someday with her.
But again, I knew I have no chance.
The deadline came and we were going back to the clinic, but just then Jihyo offered me something. It’s a medicine on the palm of her hand.
“Take this, it’ll help more.”
“Jihyo, you might need it once you-”
“But I don’t have one and you are, that’s why you need it more than me.” Jihyo rejected. “Just take it.”
I didn’t object anymore and took it at ease from her. “Thanks, Jihyo.”
“No prob, now get in there and hopefully you’re fine now. I mean, you’re kinda sweating now too so yeah maybe you really needed some rest.” She said as she poked at my arm.
I nodded and I entered with confidence, I know that Jihyo helped me a lot today. Fortunately, we were right. My temperature returned to normal still very close on reaching that low fever. I exit and immediately thanked Jihyo again which she returned with her gummy smile that I always loved seeing from her.
It was our classmates’ break too from the rehearsal and they saw us together rejoining them. As usual, Nako and Miyeon were the ones leading the group of people who knows my crush for Jihyo and they teased me about it.
And speaking of group of people who knows about my love secret, a new one has been added. It happened through our chat in Instagram when somebody replied in my story featuring a movie quote about loving someone but being aware of the consequences which makes you rather think twice on pushing yourself to chase for her feelings.
That person is the guy Jihyo is mostly close with in our classroom. They are both smart, but this one is smarter and they get along easily because they share the same humor. He replied to me saying “Who is that girl huh?”
I didn’t tell him yet. We went for some few talks until I recalled our time on the mall earlier with our other classmates. “Hey, I hope you don’t mind joining your circle like earlier. Maybe you guys might find having me uncomfortable, I just wanted to keep my closeness with you guys as my classmates.”
“We’re cool, YN. Actually I like it even more that you’re trying.” He said. “However, I do seem it doesn’t apply for somebody.”
“What do you mean?”
“I think out of everyone we were with at the mall earlier, I didn’t even saw you like interact or go near at Jihyo.” He said. I almost dropped my phone in disbelief. He did noticed me being shy around Jihyo. Sensing that he’ll end up as one of them who is about to find out soon, I didn’t wait for it anymore and after some few hesitation, I made up my mind to do what I have to do. “Did you two had a fight or something?”
“Ahh, that?” I said. “Well actually there’s another reason why you guys might find me sticking along to your circle more.”
He reacted a wow emoji on my message. My heartbeat racing as I typed the letters of her name on the keyboard. After i sent it, I waited for his reaction and what had me was his long laughter.
“Ahhhh so that’s why!” I can hear his annoying laugh behind the phone. My head just bent in shame and laughed poorly at my idiotic self. I don’t know if revealing my crush for Jihyo is even a good or a bad idea to do it with this guy.
“So yeah, I said it to you now. And I did it because I trust you so please, don’t let her know. She doesn’t need to.” I pleaded to him.
“Faggot, don’t.” He then continued with another laughter. Now I just want to rub my face on the table. “Good luck tomorrow, I’m going to tease you a lot from now on.”
I knew it would happen. I gulped nervously and chuckled again imagining what would I expect starting tomorrow if things will go in a chaotic change for me now that people are starting to recognize me because of being an admirer to our fellow classmate.
I prepared myself before going to the campus. As I arrived there, Sehun, which is his name, immediately laughed at me as I approach them who are waiting for our professor to arrive since the classroom is still locked. I just laughed back and whined at him to stop doing it frequently or else Jihyo might find it suspicious and it may attract her attention.
Thankfully, he did listened. He was just like doing it in a manner that he tries his best to insert a joke referring to me but Jihyo and the rest won’t notice. Before we went home as our classes for today ended, he gave me a short advice that began to repeat for the few days to come or whenever we get to talk together.
“Make a move already.” He said. “Do it. She’s easy to get along with. Don’t be nervous.”
I know to myself that I’m trying, but I’m not doing that to impress myself. I stand at my reason still why I don’t have any plans to make an action on how to make her mine. He did say it with the same idea I was thinking for the past few months since I started to develop an attraction to Jihyo, so I just listened to him while keeping my feelings behind me.
But again, being the dorky admirer that I am, I find it difficult to do whenever my feet would bring me closer to me or when I’m standing next to her. I couldn’t acknowledge her presence in ease. It was stressful, and it raises my belief that I am indeed a hopeless romantic.
It continued for few months that my classmates would also ran out of energy to disturb me with their playful gestures on leading me to Jihyo. They slowly didn’t cared at all and it was kind of relieving at least that’s going back to normal now that I can just move around without anybody noticing me. That didn’t last long though when I was walking home with my classmates and two of my other female classmates named Jeewon and Karina asked me randomly when Jihyo got mentioned in our topic.
“You still have feelings for her?” Jeewon asked me.
“Yeah.” I admitted.
“How long do you have a crush on her?”
I remembered the date today and that exact date when I proclaimed myself that I am indeed catching feelings for Jihyo. “Almost a year now.”
Both of them woah-ed. Karina took the turn to ask me. “Why aren’t you doing anything yet? You’re almost reaching a year, that’s long enough already.”
I sighed and slumped my shoulders. “It doesn’t matter. I believe its better if she must not know. I don’t want her to end up with me anyway.” I said weakly as my mind replayed that time when I talked with my other classmate named Lia who lives at the direction where my home leads at, stating that she learned that Jihyo doesn’t have any interest on this love thingie and she prioritize her studies first. She didn’t deny the part though that she already had an experience of being in love with somebody. Based on her report, they almost became a couple back when they were in senior high school but sadly, it didn’t happened for unknown reason.
Jeewon and Karina aww-ed in pity for me being a fallen soldier who still remains loyal fo a girl who will never be aware of my feelings and be mine. They just expressed their opinion that a year or more might just be wasted and more painful to see somebody I’m loyal with get to be rather with someone else. That’s why they still wanted to push me to try atleast.
I just kept it in mind but I haven’t considered it yet. I did have another reason with me that i didn’t shared to them which added to my reasons why I should remain on the shadows. I recalled from my chat with Lia that she has speculations to her ex-boyfriend, which is Sehun that he is interested with Jihyo too.
She even enumerated to me her evidences she observed which became a reminiscence to the things Sehun once did for her when he was courting her.
“First, you see how he always places himself next to Jihyo. Second, he was frequently escorting her with his motorcycle, to take her home or go to somewhere else. He did that to me once, and that’s when he found out where I live in and now for sure he knows where Jihyo’s home too. Lastly, he can just easily get access on her things without a permission. He even carries her bag for himself!
Don’t you think those were still nothing for him? I’m telling you, he’s chasing for Jihyo’s feelings just like how he did to me and what makes me afraid is that he might also waste her heart just like how I ended up into. He’s a player!” She said with all frustrations and I calmed her down. It threw me back to my conversations with Sehun and that advice he gave me which he always say in repeat that I should “Make a move already”.
At first it was just a simple encouragement to me but now after hearing what Lia said, I felt like it was rather a challenge sent to me. That I should do something now or else he’ll be the one who’s gonna win in the end.
Well, for my response? I don’t even care. Let him have her if he wants. If there’s some sort a miracle that it happens, I swear to God that I hope he won’t hurt Jihyo or else,I may reconsider and I’ll be there in no time.
Speaking or miracle, the reason I said it like that is because Lia and I share the same idea: “Pfft he wouldn’t have a chance with her.” Lia said in a mocking tone. “Jihyo doesn’t want to get involved with such guys like him. He may be great at words but internally? He’s immature, way apart to Jihyo.”
“Hmmm so that’s why I’m getting a weird feeling whenever I see them together” I revealed that I actually do get jealous whenever I see them close. At the bench where they review together with their circle, At the canteen where they eat and laugh together. And… yeah when he instructed Jihyo to hug him when they were riding on his motorcycle.
I just tried to hide my face contorting as my heart swells in pain seeing them like that. I was gaslighting myself that maybe it was nothing and they’re close friends that’s why. Jihyo met Sehun early when we became freshman that’s why them being close isn’t surprising anymore.
Until Lia came to dispose those lies I’ve been saying to myself. “See! Even you can see it from them. Trust me, YN. Sehun is making a move on Jihyo. I was his ex, I know him better when he acts for love.”
A month later, those all allegations and rumors we have for Sehun along with my other friend and former classmate who shifted to another course named Arin who also told me that she caught Sehun with another girl eating together and drive away on his motorcycle near at their neighorhood. Arin was living near to Sehun’s house that’s why. Arin even added that when her eyes met against Sehun’s it looked like he caught in the act and just quickly greeted at her back before they left.
Unfortunately, Arin didn’t recognize the girl but she did told me that she was wearing a uniform that is not from our campus, planting a seed that the girl is from another campus that he is also close with.
Going back to what I was saying, those all rumors were ended and disposed away when one day, me and Sehun are sitting next to each other at our subject about Psychology since our surnames’ initials are right next to each other, with mine before his.
While we wait for our instructor, he pulls out his phone and typed something before he poked me and made me look at it. I looked at the message he sent, I read it and it says:
“You’re in danger, YN.”
I furrowed my brows at him. “Danger? For what?”
He chuckled and shook his head. “Boss is starting to speculate you.”
My eyes widened and my chest felt heavy immediately. His laugh got a bit louder but he stopped and typed again on his phone.
“Seriously? I-I mean, I’m not shocked since I knew it’s gonna happen. Secrets are meant to be unveiled-” I was just spitting nonsense now at this point, while I am heavily confused that she finally does began to notice me.
He presented his phone again. This time it says:
“Make a move already. Sungbin is almost at the end.” My brows deepened. Who the hell is Sungbin? I then asked it to him along with the question how did Jihyo suspected me, but instead he just said he will say about it more later.
That son of a bitch though left me hanging and getting eaten alive with all my curiosities for an entire day until I had enough waiting and I chatted him repeatedly about it while clearing up any misunderstandings that I’m not even expecting a lot or whatever. He finally responded and this is what he replied to me.
“Yup she shared it to me like, out of nowhere- she just asked. This is not what happened specifically, huh. This is just too long to read.
For her sake and yours. I don’t want to become your “middle man” even though you both are very distant to each other, got it?
After she approached me, she asked who do you like then ofcourse since you said before that you don’t want me to say it plus it’s not really my business so I just didn’t answered her.
But it looks like she didn’t really wanted to ask it then, I guess she got tired of waiting (just like you right now.) She then asked me directly if “Am I the one that YN likes?” and there, still with respect for you… I didn’t answered her. Not my story to tell.
But overall, just chill. No need to approach her about it anyway. Plus I don’t want to get involved if ever like “Sehun was the one who said it to you, doesn’t he?” Pass. I don’t want to get in trouble. There, make your move or don’t. It’s up to you. She's not thinking about it like actively, don’t worry. Maybe it just crossed her mind that time. So yeah, that’s your too long to read. Ciao.”
I thanked him and felt touched that he really did listen after all this time, and he became a man of his word for it. It’s still unknown though if he also harbored a crush on Jihyo, but during that time I did kind of notice that he wasn’t getting that much into contact with her that I might find jealous of. Maybe he gave up shortly and is now focusing on somebody else.
I learned afterwards that this is not the time that Jihyo starts to investigate her possible secret admirer, aka me. I confirmed from some of my classmates that Jihyo also asked them about it, and they also lied about it. I also feel like Jihyo is now also hiding a secret from me, as I found her following me whenever I take a spot somewhere else around the campus, yet still minus the talking.
I got nervous at the idea that maybe she’s testing or examining my antics if she can consider it that yeah I am getting shy around her because she’s my crush afterall. Realizing that she must have known now, I’m stuck if i really have to do it as there’s no more sense anymore if I have to continue being like this way.
I then hold on for few days until the time has come. I don’t know if this is such a huge coincidence or my classmates are pulling a prank on me. I did contacted them to confirm the location of our group study and the time which I quickly prepped up to head there.
But as I arrived there, I found Jihyo who is sitting alone and using her cellphone. It’s early in the morning and there’s not much students scattered around. It’s very quiet and peaceful but deep inside of me I feel like my emotions are going into war not knowing what I should do.
There’s no way out for me as I cannot leave anymore and Jihyo immediately saw me after she looked away at her phone. I had no choice but to come near at her while I try my best to compose myself. “Good morning.” She greeted me and I did the same.
“They’re still not here? I thought I’m already late that’s why I quickly went here.” I said, acting nonchalant and a bit confused.
“Same too. But since we’re here, let’s just wait for them.” I nodded and I instantly grabbed my things and took them out. From my peripheral vision, my senses are telling me that Jihyo is still observing me.
I don’t want to be weird so I silently plead that she stop, but as longer as we continue to be like this, I then realized that it was actually Jihyo who is becoming awkward between us. My patience couldn’t hold anymore as I see her blank face, I closed my notes and sighed heavily before I spoke the words I’ve never wanted to say.
“This is exactly what I’m talking about.” I said. Jihyo didn’t moved and stared at me, wondering what I’m talking about, so I proceeded with my words. “Making you uncomfortable and unhappy being around me, and it scares me. That’s what I’m being so hesitant for.”
I lowered my head, avoiding her gaze at me. What she said after made me lift up and put my attention to her as this is now something both she and I must discuss sincerely.
“So it’s me.” She finally comprehended what I’m trying the say.
“Always has been, Jihyo.” I confirmed, officially marking my confession to her and shattering my more than a year-length of being her secret admirer.
“And I just want to tell you right ahead that i’m very sorry.” I continued my heartfelt speech, wanting to make every thing clear for Jihyo. “We both know we ain’t that close or I don’t know, even be called as friends to have a normal conversation like this, and it’s my fault. It’s because of this deep infatuation- no screw that, I know for myself that this is indeed love I’ve been having on you that makes me act very awkward around you and trust me, I’m trying very very hard but I just cannot help it.”
“I do notice that I’m like the only one that you don’t get to interact with in the class.” Jihyo said. “Hearing that from you more, it did kind of hurt a litlle bit, you know. Seeing our classmates happy and comfortable talking with you, but I can’t have it the same as them. It did made me worried if I even did something bad to you. W-why does it have to be different when it comes to me?”
I frowned and took all of her rants with guilt. “I thought it was like that, but now I would just found out that’s all because you just… love me that much that you had to act like I’m non-existent?”
“I’m really sorry, Jihyo.” I muttered. “I have my reasons but it’s too many to say.”
“Then atleast enlighten me why do you have to set yourself away?”
“My fears and insecurities are not allowing me to, Jihyo.” My breathing is starting to get heavy as I sense the rising intensity of our confrontation. Jihyo was staring at me, puzzled. “It’s hard to escape. I’m scared that if you once knew, you will just ignore me because of it. That’s why I think not being close with you is much better because atleast I… I have nothing to lose more from you.”
Jihyo gulped and her expression turned into concern. She was about to move towards me but she hold on as I soon followed up what did she got taken aback from. My eyes swelled and a thin cold path started to drew from my cheek, and that’s when I touched it, a teardrop had escaped to present how much I’m struggling with this feeling.
“W-why are you doing this to yourself? Why do you need to hurt yourself more because of me?” Jihyo adjusted herself closer to me. Our eyes still ain’t leaving our staredown at each other. It deeply feels like i’m under interrogation right now that I have to defend and tell my side with all honesty.
“It’s just a feeling that I have.” I shrugged. “That i’m not the example of an ideal guy you would like to be with. I’ll just ruin whoever you are and we’ll end up being torn. Now you know why I didn’t want to confess to you because I’m not desperate for you to answer me back and tell me that you love me too. Maybe it’s better if you don’t.”
I was about to wipe my tears with my spare cloth but I was prevented by Jihyo herself who touched my hand and grabbed the cloth instead. Astounded, she damped it around my face and wiped my tears away.
“YN, please you don’t have to be harsh at yourself.” Jihyo sharpened her voice. I shook my head and tried to remove her hand.
“Don’t worry, it’ll end soon, when the time comes that my heart decides to stop.”
“AND IF I TELL YOU NOT TO?!” Jihyo suddenly yelled in front of me, slamming her fist at my shoulder. My eyes widened at her outburst. I went speechless, oblivious at the fact that I’ve been pushing her buttons further the more she hears me blabbering poisonous words at myself.
Her question rather, sounded suspicious. She returned her glare at me and she reached for my hand laying on my lap.
“I’ve had enough of hearing you hate yourself this much, you may not be fit on some of the qualities I want to the type of person I dream to be together with but I didn’t find everything about you horrible!” Jihyo complained. “And I am willing to get to know more about your capabilities, my standards weren’t even that high to be reach. I feel like it’s not right for me to be like that. If you hate yourself, then what about me? I don’t even think that anybody would fall for me who doesn’t even act accordingly to the gender norms this society has dictated upon.”
“Then I’m not one of them.” I said with confidence. “Initially, I never wanted to be in love again. But then I saw you and more time has passed, I couldn’t determine at first what my heart find you qualified to make me fall for you.
One year ago, I began as your secret admirer observing you from a far, and that’s where I started picking it all up. Many will find you rather handsome or a less attractive because of your boyish cut, tough posture, and antics that doesn’t suit you. But to me, I see different.
You’re uniquely beautiful and cute on your own that I couldn’t stand not to glance at your face for a second. I see this smart and mature woman that you would respect and willing to listen to every words she says attentively. God, you don’t how many times I imagine having you near me all the time just doing every ideas I could think to make you know how I’m deeply in love with everything about you. Just to make you feel special.
Jihyo, I love you because of how your authenticity shines through.”
After I enumerated all the signs that I find captivating from Jihyo and from how she shifted her gloomy mood into an uplifted state, smiling at the compliments I showered over her. She bit her lip and sighed as she looked away, thinking of something else for a while.
Jihyo then brought back her gaze and roamed it all around the sight of myself in front of her. “I really appreciated it a lot, YN. It did sounded sincere.” She nodded in which I mirrorred her. “We really can be friends, but this silly crush is pulling both you and I from each other.”
“S-so, you don’t-”
“No, wait it’s not like that!” Jihyo stopped me as she probably noticed that I misintepreted her. “I mean… you’re a cool guy and can you please stop ignoring me anymore? I-It really hurts when you only do that to me among the rest.” She begged with her softened dismayed tone as she pouted at me. I couldn’t care less anymore if I look like a tomato at how red my cheeks or face would appear from her cuteness.
“I won’t, I promise.” I assured her.
She sighed in relief. “Finally.”
Both sides became silent for a second before Jihyo proceeded again. “About your confession, I won’t reject you for now, YN.”
My hopes and dreams reignited and altered again with that single sentence that she said. I gasped and became overwhelmed at her response that I always thought after all these time that she would just nevermind and won’t take it seriously. “Please understand that my focus for now are on our studies, and you should be as well. I would also like to advice you to take care of yourself and use all of these time I will give for you to improve yourself and rebuild your self-esteem. I don’t want to see you being like this anymore, okay?”
“I’ll keep that in mind.” I nodded at her as I listened attentively to her favor.
“Can you wait for me? I mean… if you can’t, w-well… if your heart gets tired of me, y-you can find someone new-”
“And what if I won’t?”
Jihyo considered my interruption and added a new suggestion. “Then how about I’ll wait for you to come back and you must do the same for me?”
“Deal.” We shook hands to seal it. As we slowed down the pace, I let out my gratitude for her. “Thank you for hearing my confession to you, Jihyo. You don’t know how light I feel now after I finally lift off this huge baggage I’m carrying inside of me for spending the entirety of the year admiring you which I thought that would be impossible.”
Jihyo slapped my arm and grinned. “Tss, it’s nothing. I want to also say thank you for speaking up to me about what you really feel for me and I appreciate it a lot, YN. All you had to do is to open up. Sometimes you just have to face your fears.”
We both smiled at each other and then burst out laughing afterwards to avoid getting ourselves trapped again in awkwardness. “There they are on the gate, we should start reviewing now.”
Jihyo began pulling out her things out of her bag and we opened our notes and papers. At this moment, we officially had a mutual understanding to remain being friends for now while we wait for the future to bring what we will end up to be.
3 YEARS LATER
Me and Jihyo were still friends until our last year level… while we couldn’t deny that the signs are still there in present. Today is our graduation day and we both received our certificates, declaring our successfully conclusion of almost becoming an engineer one step away.
As everyone were finally got called on the stage, awarded, and delivered their speeches, we were all commanded to throw our hats to the air and celebrate for ourselves of reaching this far for the best of our careers.
I went to my family and welcomed their greetings to me. I couldn’t help but to be emotional seeing them enveloping me into their embrace. I owe it all to their hardwork and dedication. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be here where they want me to be, and now me as well too. I’ll bring them with me as my start to build my life to its improvement.
After having my moment with them, now I went to search after to the only person that matters more to me than everybody else out there. I reached the center of the auditorium, it was empty, and my feet decelerated as I finally saw who I am looking for.
Jihyo was there, now in her new bobbed haircut, looking even more fantastic in her graduation gown. She was holding her award as mine and we faced each other from the distance in the middle of such crowded place. She smiled at me and I did the same for her.
I started walking to approach her and so did she. We stood face to face and we exchanged chuckles at one another.
“We did it.”
“Yeah. Can’t believe it as well.”
We stared at each other. I saw her smile slowly shrink from being proud to affectionate.
“YN… d-did you wait for me?”
“I… I did.” I nodded and smiled, although it’s hard as I knew what we’re about to discuss about.
“I’m sorry.” Jihyo said me and she couldn’t help but to cry for me. “I’m sorry if I couldn’t do the same.” I heaved out a long sigh as I try to mask my devastation.
“But you helped me in other way possible.” I comforted her, not wanting to see her drag herself down just because she failed to last long in the deal we made years ago. “You changed me for the better, Jihyo. Even though that I do admit that my heart is… shattered into pieces right now but that’s what doesn’t matter here.”
“I also give credit on you for what I am now today. I became the best version of myself just like you wanted me to be.” I smiled at him, despite my lips twitching in bittersweet. “I would’ve like it much to apply it on showing how I love you so much, that after all these years I remained loyal for you, I never gave up, Jihyo. I thought we’re gonna be something more in the end but… I was right all along.”
“The likes of us weren’t meant to be together. I have finally accepted that.” I nodded which urged my tears to fall more. “Despite in the way from our darkest days when you often refuse to run away just for the love you tried to save, that’s how it is. Some things cannot be saved when its destined to die.”
I looked at Jihyo and I swayed some of the hair blocking her mesmerizing beauty even with the ruined mascaras and smeared eyeliner.
“You probably even came to see me and hear me say I did too.” She said while she hiccuped on her sobs.
“No, I just came up to meet you to tell you how lovely you are today and…” I paused as I reached for the medal that is hanging around my neck. “W-will you please tell me this too for the last time? Have I made you proud too as well?” I asked her as I remember all of the times she makes me proud seeing her achieving all of those accomplishments she’s receiving because of her academic performance. That’s what motivated me to do better on my studies so that someday, I can make her be proud of me too.
“I know for sure I cheered the loudest I can get when I watch you grab that award, YN.” She nodded and smiled at me while sniffing her tears.
I feel contented at her answer. She immediately pulled me closer to her, my first and the warmest hug I ever shared with her. She cried aloud on my shoulder and I just hummed ay her as I try to comfort her as much as I can.
“Forgive me, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, YN. I wish I didn’t loved you for me to hurt you this badly.”
“I can’t hate you, Jihyo. You just discovered where your heart truly settles.” I said to her. “Don’t blame yourself now, please let’s just be happy for ourselves. Can you do it for me?”
“Y-yes…” I felt her head move around my hold. I knew she can hear my heart still beating loud for her. How I wish she still the same, but when I looked into her eyes, she’s not even there anymore.
I smiled at her, not minding what’s going on around us. I focused on Jihyo only, she’s the most important of them all as usual. It’s no denying that I gave her all I had and for sure I’m willing to repeat it.
“So this is what it feels like.” I lastly said before I broke the hug between us and exchanged congratulations for our success. I watched her return back to her place, to where she belongs. She reunited with her new boyfriend while I left as I finally lose control of my emotions. I cried out loud, defeated and disoriented.
I can’t believe that its over for the both of us.

I'm here and bringing more chainsaw mam requests with me cause it needs it. How about Asking out and first date scenario with Fami? I absolutely loved your dating headcanons and had to ask for one where they had the first date and how they even asked out fami lol.
Asking out and first date with fami
A/n:Yay, more fami requests, this devil Kirby girl deserves more love.
Recently you had been crushing on one of your classmates at fourth east high school, her name was fami and from what you could tell she really, really liked eating.
One day, you saw her eating alone and decided to approach her to hopefully ask her out on a date.
"Hey, sorry, do you mind if I sit here?"
Fami simply nodded as she continued chewing her food. You sat in front of her and decided to start a conversation.
"You're fami, right? I've seen you around school. You're part of the devil hunters club, aren't you?
"Yeah that's me, i think I've seen you staring at me a couple of times"
"A-ah sorry I just-"
"It's fine I don't really mind, I figured you wanted to ask me something, I was waiting for you to approach me"
"Wow, yeah I do have to ask you something, you're really observant"
"You're not the first person to say that, so what is it?"
"W-well I was wondering if....you wanted to hang out sometimes....you know like...a date?
"Can we go eat out somewhere?"
"Sure if you wa-"
"Then yes"
You were surprised at how easy it was, and how smoothly it all went, but you remembered her love for food and it made sense. You two talked for a bit more and decided on a time and place for the date.
When the time arrived, you made sure to look your best and arrived at the restaurant you agreed on. After a bit, Fami arrived at your table, while she looked basically the same as always you could tell she put more effort into her appearance than usual and that made you smile.
"Sorry if I'm late"
"It's fine, don't worry you weren't that late anyway"
"Thanks"
After a bit of talking a waiter went to your table to take your order.
"I'll take this and this and this and a bit of this, do you want anything?"
You shrugged off the enormous amount of food she ordered and looked over the menu
"I guess I'll take f/f (favorite food)"
The waiter left the table and fami looked at you with an unreadable expression that made you worried you had done something wrong.
"Good choice"
"Uh?"
"The dish you chose, it's great, you have good taste"
"Oh thank you, you really like food don't you?"
"I think food is the great thing humanity has created"
"*giggle* yeah I think it's nice too"
"I'm glad"
After your waiter returned with the food, you started eating your food, fami going way faster than you.
"Oh sorry if I'm being gross, the food looked really good"
"Don't worry, I don't mind, you're doing something you like, I'm not gonna judge you for that even if it's just eating"
"........I like you"
"Hm?"
"You like food and don't find how much I eat gross or annoying, plus like I said you have good taste, you're great in my opinion"
You blushed slightly and smiled at her words
"T-thanks, i think you're great too"
Fami smiled too, it was probably the first time you saw her have an expression that wasn't indifference
"I'd like to hang out more if you want, after this let's go to my home, we can order pizza and watch a movie"
"You and pizza? Yeah I'd like that"
You continued to eat and talk, and after finishing your food, you walked out of the restaurant and to your house.
"So are you sure you wanna go"
"Yeah, but first can I try something?"
"Sure what is it?"
Fami surprised you by randomly kissing your cheek, you got incredibly red and looked at her, her face had a smile for the second time today and probably in a while.
"Just as I thought you taste great too, you really are special"

Your shoulder was stiff when you woke up, and you had to stifle a groan of discomfort as you rolled onto your back. So much for staying off your injured side, you thought disdainfully. Typical of you to sabotage yourself in your sleep.
A glance over at the other empty bed proved Lucy was awake, and a glance at the clock on the wall proved she might have been awake for quite some time.
It was six in the bloody evening. Lockwood’s call with the Caldecotts must have gone well if you were able to sleep for 14 hours. You normally would have had the sense to be a little bit ashamed of sleeping an entire day away, but after the job you’d had and the arrangement you made with Lockwood, you felt like you deserved it.
You pulled yourself out of bed and went through the paces of making yourself presentable at the very least, then threw on a sweatshirt and made your way downstairs. Lockwood was alone in the kitchen, sitting at the table with a half-eaten piece of toast in front of him and the agency’s case binder in his lap.
“Good morning, sleeping beauty,” Lockwood said, glancing up from the files on his lap with a smile. You rolled your eyes at him as you walked into the kitchen.
“Would you believe me if I said I was still tired?” You took a cup from the cabinet and filled it at the tap, taking a sip as you glanced out the window. Night had already fallen, and you could see the flickering of ghost lamps in the distance.
“You know, I think I would,” he said. “You didn’t make it the full 24 hours you promised—I think you’ve still got some in you.”
You chuckled and shook your head. “Where’s Lucy and George?”
“Grocery shopping,” he said, and he looked at the clock. “It’s taking them an awful long while, though.”
“Why are they shopping at night?” you asked.
Lockwood shrugged. “George really wanted to make pad thai, but we have none of the ingredients. Apparently, it’s important enough to warrant a night trip to the store. Lucy offered to go with him, and I made them take their rapiers, so it should be fine.”
“Of course you did,” you mused. “Did you tell them about our little arrangement?”
His eyes filled with amusement. “No. I figured you would want the honor.”
You sighed and let your head fall back. “Kind as always, Lockwood.”
“You should probably start calling me Anthony,” he said. “Just to get used to it.”
“What,” you said dryly, looking back down at him, “girlfriends don’t usually call their boyfriends by their last name?”
“I think your family may frown upon it.” Lockwood checked his watch, then set the binder on the table and stood up. “If you get a kettle going, I’ll make us tea.”
“Bored of write-ups already?” you asked, crouching down to pull the kettle out of a cabinet. Lockwood chuckled as he took the tin of tea bags out of the closet, and he turned the burner on just as you finished filling the pot up.
“I try to do my part, but they’re really not my forte,” he said. “You and George are much better at them.”
“And it comes from filing reports since the tender age of eight,” you said solemnly as you set the kettle on the stovetop.
Just then, the sound of a lock clicking open drew your attention, and you smiled as Lucy and George came inside. George had a reusable bag in one hand and her rapier in another, and Lucy also had hers drawn.
Your brows knit together. “Run into any ghosts?”
“Good morning to you too,” George said. You gave him a mocking look in return.
“No,” Lucy answered, pushing the door shut with her foot, “just being careful. Because somebody swore he saw a Spectre and refused to let a Visitor run away with his goods.”
“I am starving,” George enunciated. “I wasn’t going to let a ghost ruin all my hard work.”
Lockwood smiled. “Well, I’m glad you’re both intact.”
“I’m glad you’re finally up,” George said with a look at you. “I thought you’d never come out.”
“She slept like a brick,” Lucy said. “I knocked over all the bottles in the shower and she never even stirred.”
You shrugged. “Last night was exhausting. For many reasons.”
The kettle went off and you turned the burner back down. Lockwood took two more mugs out of the cabinet and set tea bags in them, then poured the boiling water into all four. You handed him the sugar container with a pointed look.
“Remember, half—”
“Half a teaspoon,” he nodded, taking it from you with a wry smile. “I remember.”
“Good,” you said. “You’re always a little heavy handed.”
“Are you saying I add extra sweetness into your life?” Lockwood asked, and you couldn’t help but laugh.
“How did you know?”
“You know, we’re also here,” Lucy spoke up, though when you turned to her she was barely hiding a smile.
“As if I could ever forget you, Lucy Carlyle,” you said. “How’s your day been?”
“Quiet without you,” she said. “Lockwood’s been on the phone all day, and even though George didn’t sleep quite as long as you, he still woke up at two in the afternoon.”
“Oh, please,” George said over his shoulder, in the midst of rifling through his groceries, “I earned it. We all did, after the night we had.”
“True,” she said, tilting her head. “I actually didn’t have any nightmares for once— I’ve never slept so soundly.”
“See?” You gestured at her. “The charms I put on the walls are working.”
Lucy gave you a look. “You can’t seriously believe that.”
“No ghosts have gotten into our room!” you exclaimed. “And both of our nightmares have been getting better. That dragon is protecting us.”
Lockwood bit back a smile. “I still cannot believe you bought that.”
“Seriously,” George said, still organizing ingredients. “A week’s wages, just gone.”
You frowned. “My iron dragon is incredible, thank you very much. Besides, I’m supporting local businesses.” You glanced at Lockwood. “So the supply calls were made?”
“Every last one of them,” he confirmed as he stirred sugar into your tea. “Satchell’s was very happy to get our business again. Salt bombs will be in on Friday, flares come next week, and we’re getting brand new chains tomorrow. Plus a couple new silver glass containers from Sunrise.”
“That’s smart,” you said. “I think I threw our last square container in the furnaces last week.”
George frowned. “We went into the disaster that was last night without any silver glass?”
Lockwood cleared his throat as he handed you your mug, then set the other two on the table for Lucy and George. “Everything worked out in the end.”
Lucy just sighed. “We cut things too close for comfort.”
“The Lockwood & Co motto,” you said before taking a sip of tea. Perfectly sweetened. “How about the Caldecotts?”
“Rescheduled for tomorrow at half past noon,” Lockwood said. “Do you think you’ll be awake by then?”
You rolled your eyes good-naturedly. “I didn’t forget our deal that quickly.”
George raised his eyebrows. “What deal?”
“Oh, nothing,” you said. “Just sold my soul for a favor from Lockwood.”
Lucy frowned, eyeing the two of you. “Elaborate.”
Lockwood hid his smile with a sip of tea as he also looked at you. So this was still your treat.
You shrugged. “We’re going to a wedding together.”
“Not exactly selling your soul,” George said. “Congrats.”
You rolled your eyes. “We’re going together.”
“Congrats,” he said again. “Are we just emphasizing words now?”
“We’re going as a couple,” Lockwood said.
Lucy’s eyes widened and George nearly choked on his tea as they blurted out the same thing. “What?”
“A fake couple,” you added hastily, “to fool my family.”
“…Oh,” Lucy said, glancing at George. “That’s…”
“Less exciting,” he finished.
Lockwood made a face. “Less exciting? George, we’re going to be lying to her whole family for a whole weekend. I’d say that’s quite exciting.”
He glanced at Lucy for a moment before he sighed and looked back at Lockwood with a shake of his head. “Sure.”
“Anyways,” you segued, “I just thought you two should know. It’s not for another month and half, but between the usual ghost-hunting we’re going to be doing a fair bit of planning together.”
“Spend all the time together that you want,” Lucy said. “George and I are good enough at holding down the fort, right?”
“It was just Lockwood and I for months at the beginning of all this, and half the time I was on my own because of investigatory whims,” George said. “At least you’re usually sort of predictable, Luce.”
She frowned. “I take offense to that.”
Lockwood chuckled and shook his head as he set the other two cups of tea down on the table for them. “We won’t impede work at all, I promise. I’ll make sure everything still goes as smoothly as possible.”
“What Lucy said,” George said, finally satisfied with the order of all the ingredients as he got to work. “Spend as much time together as you want.”
“Maybe you will,” you said haughtily. “Maybe Lockwood’s lying and we’ll completely abandon our duties.”
“We won’t,” Lockwood assured, and you merely smiled as you took another sip of tea.
“Speaking of work,” Lucy said, “we ran into Kipps and Godwin on the way to the store.”
Lockwood’s expression hardened and he set his mug down a bit too forcefully. “Why didn’t you say that earlier?”
“Because it was nothing,” George said, looking up from cutting vegetables. You were glad he was the one with a knife and not Lockwood. “Just typical Kipps posturing.”
“He told us about some job they got,” Lucy said. “Some ridiculously rich widow hired Fittes to find and clear out the ghost of her husband, and they were put on the case.”
“What was her name?” Lockwood asked.
“I wasn’t really paying attention, if I’m being honest,” she said.
“Agnes Colville,” George said.
“That bastard!” Lockwood’s jaw clenched and he moved across the room to a stack of newspapers on the floor, toppling over from the height. He crouched down and began rifling through them, and after a second he pulled out one and held it up for you all to see. The look in his eye was only slightly crazed, which was admittedly progress. “He stole it from us!”
“I do remember seeing her in the paper,” you said after taking a moment to scan the cover. Her husband died of old age, and it was only because of their impressive fortune that anyone knew of it. “A tragedy.”
“I talked to her first,” he insisted, still crouched on the ground. “I called her right after I got this paper, and she told me she wasn’t looking for any agents.”
“She changed her mind, I guess,” Lucy said with a shrug.
“Or Kipps bothered her until she changed it,” Lockwood grumbled.
“Great,” George said wryly as he pushed garlic off his knife. “We’re going to be working double time to make up for this, aren’t we?”
“Sharp as always,” Lockwood said, and he finally stood up as he set the newspaper back down. He pointed a finger at you. “After we go dress shopping tomorrow, it’s straight to the archives to pick up a better case than Kipps.”
You raised an eyebrow. “We’re going dress shopping tomorrow?”
“Did I not tell you?” He frowned. “Caldecotts then dress shopping. And now archives.”
“No,” you said, “you absolutely didn’t.”
Lockwood shrugged. “Well, now you know. We’re going dress shopping.”
“Awfully eager to get into this boyfriend role,” George said.
“I take my job seriously.”
“I already have a dress, Lockwood,” you said. “Dorothy Perkins, remember?”
“This is a special occasion,” he said. “You deserve something nice.”
You felt your cheeks warm and you looked right at him. “You’ll pay?”
“Of course,” he said. “Business expenses, remember?”
You laughed and shook your head. “Yeah. Alright, we can go dress shopping. But if I’m getting a new dress, you’re getting a new suit.”
“Fair’s fair,” he said.
“Do we get any new clothes on your bill?” George asked. “Or is that just reserved for your fake girlfriend?”
“Oh, come off it, George,” Lucy said. “Let them have some fun together.”
“Thank you, Lucy,” you said as you sat down across from her.
“Of course,” she said. “You’re saving me from the Caldecotts and a day in the archives. I should really be thanking you.”
You turned to look at Lockwood. “You’re not going to use this as an excuse to get me to come along on all your errands with you, are you?”
“Do try and be supportive, love,” Lockwood said. “It’s only right as my girlfriend.”
You groaned as you leaned back in your chair, trying your best to ignore Lucy’s smile. “Maybe this wasn’t such a great idea.”
“Another Lockwood & Co motto,” George mused. “How fitting.”
-
“Is that Anthony Lockwood walking through my door?”
You looked up when you walked through the door after Lockwood, a grin already on his face as the boutique saleswoman, a kindly older woman, greeted him. A worker at an upscale clothing store knew him by name—already a good sign.
“Ms. Bridgeston,” Lockwood said, “it’s been too long.”
“It certainly has, young man!” She pulled him into a hug and he returned it, and the woman looked at you when she pulled away. “And who is this darling girl with you?”
Lockwood said your name with a gesture, and you smiled and held out your hand. “I’m his associate.”
“And my girlfriend,” he added as she shook your hand. You shot him a look over her shoulder with wide, questioning eyes.
“Practicing,” he mouthed at you with a shrug. He was so ridiculous that you had to stifle a laugh.
“Yes,” you said, looking back at her with a smile, “his girlfriend, too.”
“Well, it is wonderful to meet you, dear.” Ms. Bridgeston smiled at Lockwood. “Anthony here has wonderful taste in apparel—he was right to bring you here.”
“I believe it,” you said with a glance around. “We’re actually in the market for wedding clothes—my cousin is getting married soon.”
“Oh, congratulations!” She clasped her hands together, eyes shining as she looked between both of you. “Is there anything you need help with, or would you just like to look around?”
“We’re good to just look,” Lockwood said, “but we’ll certainly let you know if we need anything.”
Ms. Bridgeston nodded with another smile. “Certainly. I’ll be in the back stocking if you need me.”
“Thank you,” you said, and you looked at Lockwood as she walked off. “Any ideas?”
He shook his head. “Get whatever you’d like. This is a very special occasion.”
You chuckled and nodded, going off to look at a rack of dresses. The agency had been doing well for itself lately. You supposed you could splurge on a nicer dress after nearly dying a couple dozen times. “What are you going for?”
“Oh, I’m not getting anything here,” he said. “I’ve already got a suit at home, and I’ll get a pocket square that matches whatever color you’re wearing. We’re shopping for you—I’m just having fun here.”
“How exquisite,” you mused as you ran your finger over velvet. “We’ve only been fake dating for a day and you’re already all in.”
“Consider it getting in character,” Lockwood said. “We’ll already have gotten all our mistakes out of the way by wedding time.”
“Wise as always.” You took the maroon dress off the rack and continued moving down the line, and you glanced over at Lockwood. “You’ve already got what you want?”
“Most of my wardrobe is black and white.” He held up a navy suit. “This is different.”
“Hardly,” you said with a chuckle. “Dark blue is almost black.”
“This is my version of fun,” Lockwood said wryly, and you smiled as he went into the dressing room.
You spent the next while picking out dresses that struck your fancy, and by the time Lockwood was done, you had five in your arms. When he walked out, you nearly dropped them all.
You didn’t know what was wrong with you.
Perhaps it was lingering sleep deprivation from the near 24 hours you spent awake the other day. Perhaps it was lingering anger from your dealings with the Caldecotts—no amount of money could make dealing with Lorena worth it, but all those zeroes did help—or perhaps you were just already losing your mind.
Despite your complaints, you weren’t averse to the day Lockwood had planned out. Seeing as you’d spent entire days rooting through the archives with him on wild goose chases, an afternoon after an interview and some shopping wasn’t the worst it could get.
But now, standing in the back of the store as Lockwood emerged, you were beginning to question the wisdom of this decision.
Because you honest to God didn’t know what was wrong with you. You saw Lockwood in suits every day, or at least something suit-adjacent. Slacks, a jacket and tie, a million white dress shirts that you always end up folding. Pristine shoes, so shiny you can see your reflection in them, getting ruined by cobwebs and plasma over and over—you’ve spent many a night sitting with Lockwood talking as he polished his most recent pair of shoes, determined to get them back to their former glory.
The point was that you were used to it. You were used to seeing Lockwood dressed up—when you first joined the agency, you honestly thought he slept in suits as well until you ran into him one night on a mission for midnight tea.
So why were you unable to look away from him when he emerged from the dressing room? Why were you rendered absolutely and completely speechless?
It was nothing special, at least for Lockwood. Just a tuxedo. Navy blue rather than black like he always wore, but far nicer than the usuals. He was fussing with his bowtie as he walked out, muttering things under his breath, and thankfully not looking at you at all. You felt your eyes widen, your breath stolen from you for a moment, and all you could do was stare. Very classy of you, but you could hardly be blamed. He was stunning.
You didn’t even realize he was saying something until you heard your name for what had to have been the third time, and you blinked and snapped out of your stupor.
“What?”
He gave that damn smile and inclined his head slightly, holding up one end of the tie hanging around his neck. “Could you help me with this? I don’t know what’s wrong with me this morning.”
At least you had that in common. You cleared your throat and nodded, taking a deep breath as you walked up to him in the hopes that you looked far more composed than you felt. “Yeah. Of course.”
You felt his eyes on you the entire time and you tried your hardest not to focus on it. You’d done Lockwood’s ties millions of times, usually before a particularly important interview or a particularly difficult night. He always said it was good luck, and you always rolled your eyes with a smile.
“So?” Lockwood spoke after a moment, still watching you.
“It’s good,” you said with a nod as you finished tying the bow, making sure it was straight before you stepped away. “You look good.”
“Thank you,” Lockwood said, looking at himself in the mirror with a slight smile. “For the compliment and the help.
“It’s what I’m here for,” you said.
“And as much as I appreciate that,” he said, turning that smile on you, “we’re here so you can get a dress too. Did you pick any out while I was getting ready?”
You nodded and picked up the hangers you’d set down to help Lockwood. “Which one do you want to see first?”
“Definitely the maroon one,” he said with a nod. “Goes well with your eyes.”
“You’re too kind,” you said, and he chuckled as he pressed his hand to his heart.
You went behind the curtain, purposefully taking your time as you undressed so you could try and compose yourself further. It was just a suit, and he was just Lockwood, and this was just a fun little ruse to get your mum off your back for once.
Just a suit. Just a ruse. Just Lockwood.
You let out a deep breath and nodded, finally feeling like yourself again. You stepped into the dress and pulled it up, adjusting it around your figure before you zipped it up in the back, but you couldn’t get it all the way up.
“Lockwood,” you called, “can you help me?”
“Of course,” you heard him respond.
You pushed the curtain aside and stepped back out, making some more minute adjustments along the way. When you looked up, Lockwood’s eyes were wide, his lips slightly parted.
“Lockwood,” you said, staring at him.
He blinked and seemed to focus back in, his head perking up. “What?”
“My zipper.”
“Right.” Lockwood moved just a bit too quick around you, and you shivered as his fingers brushed your bare back for a moment while he pulled the zipper the rest of the way up. “Sorry.”
“Your hands are always cold,” you said. “It’s fine.”
“That’s—” he cleared his throat, and you turned just to see him shake his head. “Right. Yeah. Thanks.”
You raised your eyebrows, the slightest smile tugging at you. “For what?”
His own rose. “Hm?”
“You thanked me. For what?”
Lockwood shook his head again. “Don’t worry about it.”
You chuckled and nodded, holding out the skirt of your dress with your hands. “So? What do you think?”
“You look incredible,” he said, “obviously. It’s an honor to be your fake boyfriend.”
“You’re gonna make me blush,” you said, but your cheeks already felt too warm for comfort.
Lockwood grinned. “Good.”
You had to turn away at that point. He knew exactly what he was doing to you, teasing you like this. “You’re taking your role way too seriously,” you said, busying yourself with rifling through the rest of the dresses you picked out.
“I told you,” he said, “I take my job seriously. And as someone who takes their job seriously, I think that dress is definitely the one.”
“Really?” You held up a sparkling blue dress against you and looked at him. “What about this one?”
He shook his head. “Maroon is definitely the one.”
“I agree, dear.” You looked up to see Ms. Bridgeston walking out carrying two boxes, that same adoring twinkle in her eye. “You look beautiful.”
“Thank you.” You looked back in the mirror for another good, long moment, and you nodded decisively. “I agree. This is the one.”
“Wonderful choice,” she said.
“Perfect choice,” Lockwood said with a grin. “If you get changed, I can go ahead and pay for everything. We’ve already used up half our day—we’ve got to get to the archives.”
You eyed him. “You didn’t just say this was the one so we could spend eight hours in the archives, did you?”
“No,” he assured. “That is the one—trust me, love. You just happened to pick out the best one first.”
You chuckled and shook your head as you started going back to the dressing room. “Whatever you say.”
Soon enough, you and Lockwood were both back in your regular clothes, dress bag in tow, walking down the streets of London.
“You seriously don’t mind spending all that money for this?” you asked, glancing over at him.
“Of course not,” he said. “I can always take it out of your paycheck, if it’ll make you feel better.”
You laughed and hit him on the arm, earning a chuckle in response. “As long as you seriously weren’t lying to me about liking this dress to get me to the archives.”
“I would never lie to you about something like that,” Lockwood said, and he held up his pointer and middle finger. “Agent’s honor.”
You smiled inwardly. “Thank you, then. I suppose I can handle spending the rest of the day in the archives with you with compliments like that.”
“Thank you, then,” he repeated. “We do have to make a stop for tea, first.”
“Naturally,” you agreed.
As you continued on your way, not exactly arm in arm but close enough for your hands to brush every so often, you found your mind drifting back to Lockwood in that damned suit. You cleared your throat and shook your head, trying to physically push the thought away.
“Everything alright?” he asked.
“Yeah,” you said. “Just got something in my throat.”
Lockwood nodded, thankfully oblivious to your inner struggle. You let out a deep breath.
This was definitely still a good idea.
