I feel like when ppl say tim is neglected it makes his story more boring but I also acknowledge my interpretation of it is like. More ‘what feelings would make sense based on what happened’ as opposed to ‘how can I justify the abandonment issues I see everyone else saying he has?’

It's not always an easy thing to make breakfast in the morning when there's so many people around. Jostling for what exactly everyone's individual tastes are wanting that morning, or not wanting, or just how much coffee is left, or where the tea went, or who did the dishes last night and why there's stuff on your favorite mug. It's good though, he likes it. It feels right, having his family so close to bug him. He doesn't really like peace and quiet as much as he does the people he loves making themselves known in his life and routine. And the smell of coffee and feeling like it's a new day worth waking up for because everyone's there and alive. Right now it's just him and Sam in the kitchen, but your little brother being annoying is all just a part of it.

"You're like a middle aged divorced guy obsessed with his car, but without the excuse of ever actually having been married."

"Who wouldn't be obsessed with my Baby, she's hot as hell."

"She's never gonna love you back, Dean."

"Hey, that's not nice, I treat my girl right. Take her out on the town. Just last night, she and I went for a nice long drive, real romantic like."

Sam snorts.

Mary walks into the kitchen.

"Hey, mom, there's coffee if you want some. I'm doing pancakes, whether Sam wants 'em or not, you up for pancakes?"

"See, that's the right answer, Sam."

"Whatever, I just don't wanna throw up in the middle of my run."

"Seems like there's an easy solution to that where you still get pancakes," Dean quips.

Mary makes herself a cup of coffee at the kitched counter and grabs the milk beside Dean to put some in her mug.

Dean turns back from flipping the pancakes to look back at Sam. "Are you just bugging me about this because you've finally got a girlfriend so now you've got some kind of leg to stand on in how much of a loser I am?"

"Oh, I always had that leg to stand on."

"Sam." Mary chides.

"Sorry, Mom, I'm just messing around."

Dean smiles at Sam getting talked to. "He's just jealous of me and my girl and our long and loving commitment."

"Yeah, real jealous." Sam rolls his eyes. Dean is drinking his coffee, but he knows Sam is rolling his eyes.

"I took her out last night. " Dean offers a low whistle. "You should have seen her, man. Making heads turn left and right, she's still got it."

"Yes, she's so pretty, she's so hot, she's so stunningly blah blah blah, you understand how weird you sound, right?"

Mary smiles. "I think it's sweet. He really likes her. What did you guys do together last night."

Sam groans. "Not you too, come on."

"Took her out for a nice dive-in dinner, curly fires and a burger, with the tray that clips to the window of course, only the best for my girl."

"How romantic." Sam deadpans.

"Then we went for a nice long drive, just us and some Zeppelin, yknow. You gotta have some quality time."

Mary nods. "Your father and I used to do something very similar," Mary answers with a gleam in her eye.

"Yeah, see she gets it." Dean gestures from Sam to Mary.

"It's weird, you both are weird and I'm not participating in your perverse afflictions."

"Zeppelin never sounds better than on my Baby's tape deck."

"Yeah we know you really love a big deck." Sam snorts at himself.

"Yeah whatever." It's Dean's turn to roll his eyes.

Mary turns to him. "So what's her name, when am I gonna meet her?"

Sam starts coughing somewhere in the background.

Dean is just lost. "Huh? Who?"

"No, he doesn't date actual women anymore, only personified objects that he gives female pronouns."

"Dude, shut up, it's not that weird."

"He was talking about his car."

He should just say it. "Actually." Why shouldn't he just say what he's thinking. "Well, it wasn't just me and Baby, we might have drug Cas along, heh." He huffs at himself awkwardly. " I mean why would I need a girlfriend, I have Cas," he says it like he's joking, so he is. "And my Baby. What more could I want than that."

Sam just sighs deeply like he does when he doesn't think one of Dean's jokes is funny. Well, to be fair, it wasn't.

Mary just lays a hand on his on the counter. "You sound like you're happy." She smiles at him. "And I've already met Cas and Baby, so you don't even need to introduce me."

Sam is just shaking his head as if they're still joking, but Mary is looking at him, and actually seeing what he's saying. And he has to give her hug and try not to cry. "Thanks, mom."

You and the guy your boyfriend stop walking, dabi panics again worried that you might see him but as he was about to hide at a near by alleyway he looks at you as you bend down to pick something up from the ground.

"What happened?" He asks as he hold your hands so gently like you would break any second.

"oh its nothing i just dropped my phone" you replied after you picked up your phone from the ground.

"you good to go?" He frantically ask looking around the dark streets as he hold onto your hands tighter, 'hes a fucking pussy' dabi thought.

"Yeah, i just thought i saw something" you say as you look behind his shoulder to the dark alley way that looms the corner.

He whisperes something to you as you both start to walk, if dabi remembers correctly your apartment would be somewhere near here, he remembers as the time where he was the one to walk you home after long class hours especially that time where the school was preparing for the sports event.

Lovesick dabi! Who would get excited at the thought of meeting you again, showing his new self, his true self to you. But then he'll remember that maybe you'll hate him for what he has done, for leaving you, for hurting other people. So maybe one day you'll meet him again, maybe one day you'll be able to understand and you both would be able to exchange stories of what youve been through without each other.

I have some ideas regards PJO x DC

Steph and Tim:

I love the idea of Tim or Steph being mortal and struggling to feel of any value when their predecessors were the kids of gods.

But like it only works if one of them is Mortal because I feel like Tim won’t feel out of place for long enough before Steph comes around to maximise angst potential (if my understanding of the timeline is correct) And Steph probs wouldn’t feel inferior mortality wise if Tim is also Mortal.

Like it’s gottta be one or the other if you get what I’m saying.

Duke:

I love the idea that Duke is mortal but still a Meta so he doesn’t feel as out of place with his powers because it’s normal in the world of Gods and maybe as a result the kids know how to help him. But he has to adjust to the idea that they exist and some of the bad guys they fight that may look like mob members aren’t they’re monsters and at first he can’t see that but then eventually he learns to see through the mist using his powers somehow.

Babs:

I love mortal Babs who just stubborns her way into the family business. I think it really helps to establish her determination.

Bruce:

I have the idea that Bruce is a legacy and thus clear sighted and that’s part of why he became Batman. Because he saw all these horrible monsters that most people don’t know are there and he couldn’t stand the thought of demigod children being forced to fight against them before some of them even have any training. Thus the Batman deals with his regular real world threats like the joker and the mob while also killing what monsters he can to make the world just a little bit safer for the demigod children out there

yeah i was thinking abt mortal tim and steph- it would absolutely be fantastic for the angst angle- tim feeling as if hes not as good as dick and jason who are demigods. mortal steph would also be interesting and i was also considering it just because i cant really find a parent that fits her. her being mortal would also add to her angst aspect, feeling like shes not good enough for the batfam because theyre all powerful, etc etc…

duke i do want to not be involved in the greek world at first. him as just a regular meta would also play into how different he is from the other bats normally- the only meta, the daytime bat, yknow. it would be really interesting to see how his powers could also affect his understanding of the greek stuff, how he could potentially see through the mist a bit, even if not a lot. i made a post on how he might be more affected by the godly aspects of them, how he may see their eyes as being a bit too… inhuman and how their veins seem to be a bit too gold (also how if he ever were to run into a god he might see them brighter than anyone else does.) just a lot of good stuff to consider with duke.

babs i def want to be mortal. she starts off as mortal- clearsighted or not, and then learns about everything via dick or bruce. im thinking post TKJ, after she takes on oracle she might get a visit from apollo who gives her something, unsure what. so yeah mortal babs with a blessing from apollo.

and yeah, bruce is either a clearsighted mortal, a mortal who learned abt the greek world (whether it be thru diana or somewhere else) and made himself see thru the mist, or a legacy. and yes should deal with both the regular criminals and monsters. im thinking wayne manor could be a safeplace for some demigods in gotham. idk bruce is a demigod magnet.

(it could also be interesting to explore alfreds role in this- ive seen some stuff for hestie son/devotee alfred, or satyr alfred- and i think having him be some sort of magic could be intriguing. he could potentially set of the same kind of forcefield around wayne manor to keep monsters out. might be worth looking into hecate kid alfred?)

decided to draw my own take on adult flurry heart, mostly so i could draw my own take on opaline in the au where opaline is like a nightmare moon of flurry heart. if youre wondering who the third pony is, its chrysalis' disguise for the au, named gentle heart.

i had to use bases because ive been in such a weird art block lately, i just couldnt draw bodies right, but i was having this idea and i just had to get it out of me lol. i drew everything else just fine, idk why i couldnt draw bodies. shout out to elementbases on deviantart for having a lot of good mlp bases! and organized into categories no less!

btw for reference for adult flurry heart i mainly used images of her only adult appearance which was in some mobile game ?? i never played it but its real and its the only time we see her as an adult, though i dont think we get any details about her aside from how she looks. i just wanted to say that cause idk how many people know about it.

so this is an au ive been tossing around for a while, especially since it started out as a half-theory i had about g5 before it truly did set in that they were just fucking up the entire thing (no hate to g5 or anyone who likes it but im personally just. disappointed), namely when they were like 'oh yeah opaline is just some alicorn that celestia and luna knew as kids and when they didnt want to play with her she held onto that for thousands of years and became evil over it'

also apparently the reason equestria is separated is because she just. idk whispered mean things in everyones ears? idk man i dont read the mlp comics, i plan to read g4s comics but not g5s. i didnt even know g5 had comics until i looked up why the pony kinds were separate.

anyway the idea was a theory because before all that we had no idea who opaline was, why there was some random alicorn, i mean, weve seen so few throughout g4! she was so mysterious for that, and i feel like the most popular idea was that she was flurry heart, since that was one of the few alicorns we knew of, and flurry is such a blank slate, especially since we dont technically ever see her adult form (with one exception)

i still personally think they shouldve gone that route but i know now that they wouldnt have, they probably wouldnt have wanted to give one of their previous characters, especially one like flurry, any bad traits or make her a villain, even though it would be such a cool idea. not to mention, they couldve redeemed her? idk man. worse villains have been redeemed lol

on to my au though. i wanted to keep it feeling like it couldve been canon but also stretching it just a little bit to make maybe more sense and also be more my creation, yknow?

we see at the end of g4 that chrysalis is trapped in stone alongside the other two villains she was working with, but we also know that these stone prisons can still be escaped, as we saw in discords introduction. my idea is that the stone is kept locked up, but unattended to, and she escapes, though her fellow villains dont. the specific details will be saved for if i go more in depth on all of this somewhere else lol

she develops a plan, that being to disguise herself as a normal pony, and to become staff at the crystal empire castle. that disguise is gentle heart, a name she literally made up because she was mocking the 'stupid' (from her perspective) names that ponies have, and she just kept it. while she works at the castle, she gets close to a young flurry heart.

she acts very extremely sickeningly nice and sweet in this disguise, but theres an uncanniness to it, a disingenuine undertone that is only noticeable when youre looking for it, really. flurry heart comes to love and trust her as a friend, and gentle heart isnt seen as suspicious to really anyone in the castle. people still think chrysalis is trapped in stone, after all.

her next step in the plan, however, is that when no one else is around, she shapeshifts herself into cadence or shining armor, and acts like a horrible parent to flurry heart. this creates a deep disconnect for flurry, as one moment her parents are the best ever, and the next they arent. if flurry tries to bring this up to them, they have no idea what shes talking about.

flurry begins to confide in gentle heart about this, and gentle heart begins to plant the idea in flurrys head that she should run away, and that gentle could run away with her. after a while of this, flurry finally decides to do this.

they run far, far away together, flurry being a child/young teenager, and they hide where no one else really goes, far from towns and pretty much any ponies. (this location hasnt been chosen yet but its not the mooost relevant? the basic point is that theyre hidden away) and they set up a home here.

soon in, gentle heart makes a decision. she shows her true form to flurry heart, a flurry heart who was never taught about how changelings used to be before their reformation, as her parents thought it was a conversation for when she was older. they didnt want her to feel paranoid, or scared. the changelings she knows are bright, and covered in generally round shapes. theyre not like the jagged and dark chrysalis.

gentle heart tells flurry that she was cursed. that her pony form is her true form, but she was cursed by the princesses to be in this form. being in her pony form drains her of energy, her changeling form recharges that energy. really, its just her excuse to not need to be in that pony form anymore. she tells flurry that she was cursed falsely, accused of a crime she did not commit. that she was made to work at the crystal castle so an eye could be kept on her. she asks to be called chrysalis, as being called gentle heart in this form feels wrong.

chrysalis right now is the only person in the world that flurry heart trusts, so she accepts this as truth.

as flurry heart grows up, chrysalis begins to plant ideas in her head that the other ponies are awful and horrible, just like her parents seemingly were. that flurry heart is better than all of them because shes not horrible, and on top of that, shes a natural alicorn. there hasnt been a natural born alicorn in thousands of years before her. flurry heart begins to believe all of this too. she doesnt have anyone or anything else to tell or show her otherwise.

these dark beliefs warp her appearance overtime, making her go from her parents daughter, into what we know as opaline, akin to princess luna turning into nightmare moon. she becomes annoyed with, averse to her cutesy name she was given by her family, and adopts the name opaline, both because of her crystal cutie mark, and because part of her still thinks of the crystal empire as her home, though now more like its hers to own someday.

speaking of, into her adulthood, opaline and chrysalis form a plan. a plan to take over equestria. the idea of being the ruler of all of pony kind was a natural conclusion that chrysalis wanted opaline to make, and so she did. their first step was to invade the crystal castle and take it over.

chrysalis tells her that cadence was never a fighter, so she shouldnt be an issue, but shining armor would be. if both chrysalis and opaline combined their power, they would easily overpower him and anyone else daring to fight them. the thing is... this works.

for a few reasons, actually. people were shocked at the return of chrysalis, and on top of that, despite her warped appearance, opaline was recognized as flurry heart. there isnt exactly many alicorns, and especially none that look similar to her. there was a fight put up, but not at full power. no one wanted to hurt the lost princess.

she takes over the empire, trapping any who oppose her, especially her parents. she doesnt even give them the option to talk to her. she plunges the empire back in dark days, not in the way that sombra did entirely, but still. shes strict on her subjects, and begins to make them like a military, planning to use them to invade canterlot. anyone who would dare come to attack the empire would be held off.

after she knows her subjects are loyal (terrified), and properly molded into an army, she storms canterlot, chrysalis by her side. its a hard fight, but they do it. they trap the other princesses, and they take over.

opalines first rule of business is to make the crystal empire the new capital, the new seat of power. for a while, this is the most drastic thing she does, otherwise going slow with her horrid ideas and changes.

the worse comes when shes already caused distrust and discomfort among ponykind, pitting ponies against eachother. she begins to decree that ponykind must be separated by type, designating towns to each, forcing ponies apart by law. she made sure it was enforced. she didnt need ponies coming together to rise against her, so she forced them apart. the damage is done.

this of course doesnt last forever. twilight is free and gathers the elements, and they take opaline by surprise, ending her reign. they empty the empire and trap her alone in her castle. thing is, she also trapped them in a limbo-like state, along with the other princesses (and her father), as they had also tried to join the fight. and a final blow to her, chrysalis got caught in crossfire, and was seemingly killed. no one intended it, but it happened. opaline is devastated.

and now, shes stuck. trapped alone in a castle in the middle of a city. she has the whole city alone to herself, and all she has now is the items left behind by her people, and mostly books. she only ever sees them as fiction or propaganda though, refusing to take them to heart and accept them as truth. alongside reading and re-reading the books around the city, she schemes of a way out. she is not very successful in this for a long time.

the closest she gets to getting out is when she opens the barrier just long enough to see, and kidnap, a young unicorn. a one misty brightdawn. she forces misty to be her only companion in a long time, and raises her like a daughter, but not lovingly.

some stuff continues on similar to canon, like misty befriending the mane 5 and leaving opaline behind, but i wont say more because i can keep some secrets for myself :] i do have an ending to her story planned though!

Long meandering ramble about isabeau under cut sorry idk what happened

Ok I wanted to expound actually I do think it’s really interesting how Isabeau isn’t like a “wishy washy” kind of neutral she is really serious and principled about it. Like when you fight her in law (and I assume things turn out the same in chaos, haven’t finished that playthru yet) if you extend your hand to her she takes offense to it + tells you to have conviction in the path you chose to the end despite her being so horrified and appalled by it that she would put down her life to fight you to prevent it from coming to pass.

And in neutral as well after you defeat Merkabah she expresses respect for him in seeing his principles through. I think it’s interesting that she has such high respect for this concept of commitment to a belief, even a destructive one + even when that the belief itself is so fundamentally morally repellant to her. So anyways this is where I get kind of headcanony right. But I was thinking more about this again

And yeah like she doubly has this thing of coming from a family that has always gone into the monastery as well as being a woman samurai (the level of rarity of this can be inferred by the fact that she’s like, the only female samurai npc iirc) that feeds into this right? Tho it’s conjecture on my part bc we don’t really hear her thoughts on any of this she’s already in this position of being like, an outlier, somewhere she “doesn’t belong” (as she apparently grew up expected to go into the monastery like the rest of her family- it’s a “loss” for the monastery) in terms of her place in the samurai. So I think that’s like .. where her position ultimately comes from. She grew up believing in the good of the kingdom like Jonathan but is in a position where she understands Walters feelings of being hemmed in by her society which I think just like is how I at least understand her character. But her neutrality isn’t just from a place of helpless desperation or an inability to choose its something she really believes in. So this is the part where I insist her love of shoujo manga is actually really important

so yeah. I thought this was a little funny but the more I think of it it is super interesting how manga is cited as what makes her soul unshakably set against you and the destruction of Tokyo. And I think it’s just that it’s representative of or partly responsible for her genuine love for Tokyo, its art and by extension its people. Like to everyone the “unclean ones” are basically like some ancient historical threat once faced by their kingdom but through finding used copies of Rose of Versailles on the ground throughout the game and it, a product of the culture and people who live/once lived there, it just gives her a level of empathy/respect for them beyond what the others achieve.

And she just cares about the people a lot yknow. When everyone splits off at shen duque her first worry is about skins and fujiwara. Walter and Jonathan’s motives both are concerned with the fate of Mikado, be it tearing it all down to start over or preserving it by destroying Tokyo (although that isn’t really /Jonathan/‘s motive but you know) but Isabeau is the one who actually wants to help the people of not just Mikado but Tokyo as well. So like “isabeau’s stance is that killing a bunch of people is bad” isn’t like groundbreaking literary analysis im aware. The game tells you that. But all the stuff I said is like In my cute little opinion Why she thinks like this. Anyways I wrote this for no particular reason other than I thought about isabeau and I like her. Sorry. AAAA okay! I’m worried these r ooc but UHM oh well 😈 under a cut bc it’s kinda long

•They both love listening to the other talk about anything. Well like, the narrator could listen to Tyler talk about how he stubbed his toe this morning and this man will still be like “mhm go on 😍” but I mean like how Tyler goes on long rants & randomly lists off things he knows. The narrator listens to every word like God is talking to him/giving him orders. Tyler likes listening to the narrator ramble too even tho the narrator probably doesn’t often unless he’s stressed from work and wants to talk about it. But I think every now and then he does ramble on about things he likes & random things he knows too.

Sometimes Tyler doesn’t look like he’s interested but he IS! He stores like literally any information the narrator tells him away in his head somewhere so he can do something with that info later. Be it like, learn more so he can show off, bond with him more or just is lowkey trying to show he does care about literally everything abt him.

•Tyler loves when narrator sits in his lap! The narrator is almost always embarrassed about doing so but after a while of Tyler just basically yanking him into his lap, he gets more used to it. Tyler will wrap his arms around him and rest his head on his back. He mostly only makes him sit in his lap at home but I think maybe a couple times he tries to get him to in public when no one is really paying them any attention anyways.

• AAA… okay sorry for this one but, Marla would watch them get it on ONCE I’m sorry but I can so see her just smoking and boredly watching them. She doesn’t join in but she’s like throwing in swears at the shit they do..maybe tries to give Tyler some advice on what to do next 💀 I don’t what would lead up to this situation but yeah.

•Obviously it’s so easy to tell when the narrator is jealous but I think Tyler can be just as jealous but won’t show it. He’ll smile thru whatever it is that has him feeling that way but kinda have a vaguely threatening aura but not enough to where the narrator or the other person will feel like brining it up. Usually his jealous feelings are solved in bed later but sometimes he will just be all silent and off until the narrator somehow manages him to tell him what’s wrong (yknow without the sex. This would probably be later down the road tho LOL)

Adding on to this, If the narrator makes it clear he doesn’t give a shit about certain people or a majority ppl knowing he’s with Tyler, Tyler will just be all over him while talking to other people. (Jealous or not) like his hand is in the narrators back pock, he has a arm around him, he kisses him or he really just starts a makeout session in front of whoever.

•The narrator feels like he doesn’t look anything special himself and is kinda confused why Tyler calls him pretty and etc but it’s not really a huge thing that bothers him. All the complements he gets from Tyler does help him gain a little confidence every day :)

• I think the narrator would assume Tyler is a dog person but in reality, Tyler would take home a little abandoned kitten if he felt like it :,) he lovesssss cats. If he believed in getting things that he doesn’t really need he would have that one cat poster that says “hang in there!”

They bring up getting a cat together every now and then but it’s always never a good time for some reason or another. Unless like what a said where Tyler would feel bad enough for a abandoned cat and just takes it home without warning lol.

•Tyler knows the narrator doesn’t eat much as it already is so eventually, he will go out of his way to buy more plain food that he personally wouldn’t get bc he likes foods with a lot of different things in it or on it. Like before he really started caring a lot for the narrator, he’d just shrug and be like “your loss” if he won’t eat what Tyler cooked but once he learns that the narrator has a lot of food aversions, he will get and cook the ‘simple’ things he likes with only a little bit of teasing, if any at all.

•Tyler uses sooooo many different nicknames and whatnot for the narrator but the narrator is only comfortable with calling him Ty. He will jokingly call him honey tho when he gets home or if Tyler is doing some house wife or ‘man of the house’ stuff.

Speaking of, if Tyler is doing some building or handy work around their house, the narrator finds it super hard to stop watching. The way Tyler sweats, his muscles flex, and the occasional grunts he lets out has the narrator about to pass out!!

Okay so I once remember reading one of your fics and you had headcannoned Yoosung being neurodivergent and honestly as someone who kins him and is also (possibly cuz I have hard trusting my diagnosis) a ND person it means a lot to me

Also same bestie because although most people say only Jumin and the Choi Twins are ND (like autistic people claim Jumin as one of them, Seven has ADHD and Saeran has DID and many more conditions which also comes in the category of neurodivergence), I have noticed a lot of moments which made me think that Casual Story characters like Zen and Yoosung are neurodivergent, for instance I feel that Zen has ADHD (hyperactive type) since i think somewhere I read that he has trouble being still and ofcourse his reckless tendencies. For Yoosung I cant exactly pinpoint what he likely has but I had noticed his tendency to hyperfixate on things and people, LoL wasnt the first thing he hyperfixated on, Rika was one of his hyperfixations, he has trouble telling apart jokes from general sentences (the pass out coffee prank is something no neurotypical person would fall for), he is comparitively more sensitive than most other person tend to be (I see all the signs of RSD actually) and there are more but I cant recall at the moment, but yeah the ND line doesnt start from deep story it starts from casual story itself.

Yoosung DEFINITELY has hyperfixations. And you’re so right about the pranks, I am similar to him in that sense because I just don’t believe people would lie to me, yknow? Like I’m gullible because I’m like wait was I supposed to just know people are lying?? That people are dishonest??? It’s not only believing it, it’s also not even considering the possibility people would knowingly give incorrect information. And I think Yoosung is very much the same way.

Yoosung, Zen, and Jaehee get overlooked often for being part of just the “casual story” but they’re also very complex. And I think that’s partly why it attracted so many ND players.

wanted to ask, could we get a look in to how you put together your animatics?? I've been toying with the idea of trying to make one of my own, but I've got no idea where to start

oh yeah totally

though to be fair, a HUGE chunk of my time is spent listening to about 20 seconds of a song and imagining how the images move around like a little movie, and I refine a ton of stuff in my head before starting to actually put scenes down on paper. This happens with non-music boarding too, imagining different versions of how the scenes line up with dialogue/music. So step one: put a song on repeat and daydream for at least two hours. But, if you aren’t sure how to do this, I’d suggest looking at animatics, MAP projects, AMVs, animated musicals, fight scenes, etc. what do they do that’s cool? Imitate them.

after that, I have most of the main images with some blank spots im not sure how to fill until I put them down. I make something like this and get the compositions of each main image looking more or less okay in this form. This is also the stage I figure out the in between blank spots. I try not to have weird camera moves or other storyboarding don’ts, but some storyboarding donts are completely valid to break if you know what you want aesthetically. As usual. This one was actually pretty clean, but check out all the framing edits. i always have to make the frame bigger

If you really don’t know what goes in between things, don’t be afraid to focus on some little details of the scene, pull out and show us the setting, put some flowery symbolism on screen, give us some fun little comedic anime inserts, or do what cowboy standoffs do and build tension. What we used to do was draw paws stepping across the screen or eyes blinking, lol

next comes audio sync! I like to get the timing extant on copies of these rough thumbnails before moving on. It helps my brain work through smaller more animated movements + testing if the things I came up with for the blank spots work. and also just makes it happy. And also, most importantly, it tests if the compositions work. If you can see it, the whole sequence with mom was a blank spot until I sketched it. I usually do this step in roughanimator even if i don’t finish it in roughanimator. Keeps it very rough.

after this is just a lot of polishing and layers! For lots of small animatics, I just use roughanimator and leave it like that. It’s surprisingly good for a very basic program. But, for things that need tweens or lots of camera movement, I use toon boom harmony. It’s more powerful and is actually supposed to be used for animation, which. Yknow. I do. I tried storyboard pro, it wasn’t my favorite.

Here are some, I guess, miscellaneous more technical tips for making your animatics feel nice!

If you’re going for lots of movement, try out timing it so big movements or scene transitions line up with the spikes in the audio WAV. If it doesn’t feel right, move it a few frames BEFORE the spike/audio beat. Your brain usually wants to see something move barely before it hears it - this works for dialogue especially. BUT! Don’t feel like you have to do this for every beat. unless you want to feel like Wes Anderson, which you can do and I will not stop you.

If you’re going for something slower with not that much movement, try motion tweening! or adjusting something very slowly so we don’t linger on one still image for forever.

you don’t need crazy camera angles for everything, but put a few in there for spice. This all depends on your mood you want to cultivate. Slow = flatter, spacious, details; fast = lots of moves, weird angles, perspective; disorienting = slow/jerky weird angles etc etc. the camera has emotions built into it. Because the camera is you! surprise!

watch storyboarding tutorials. lots of people zoom in too much when they draw and I am not excluded. Also, keep in mind the eyesight rule. It’s hard for me to explain concisely but… you as the artist are always leading the viewers eye somewhere, with every shot you make. Don’t make them dizzy by having the center of attention jump around to six different spots for six shots straight - if you find yourself unhappy with a sequence, especially a fast one, see if your line of sight is going all over the place and try moving the subject of a shot or two somewhere else or having them move/gesture towards the new shot’s focal point so the viewers eye moves there naturally. I’m actually not great at doing this when words/lyrics are involved, pmv makers have my respect.

contrast is your friend. If you want to emphasize a big fast move or big bright image, put little slow moves or simple images right before/after it. and vice versa! this counts for camera too!

easy camera shakes are just 3-4 frames of cam down/up/down less/up less, a blank tween or two (easing back into normal), and then a key for your desired normal camera location. Or left/right, whichever.

your brain needs about six frames to fully register an object as being an object. If you want someone to see and really See it, rather than just get a glimpse of it and go "What was that!" It needs more than six frames.

don’t be afraid to experiment!!!!!! And don’t get overwhelmed! Everything I just described I MOSTLY do off instinct, which you’ll get a sense for after you make one. Or like…. Ten. Does it feel good in your heart? Then that’s what’s important. Find an idea you want to make move, figure out your limits (programs, attention span, drawing capability, make sure not to commit to a minute long amv if you dont KNOW you wanna do a minute long amv), and plan around that. When I was A Child, people on youtube were just making like three amvs per second and cringe hadn’t been invented yet so they were all mostly untrained unpolished and so so important and based to me. Stop thinking so hard about it. You gotta get that animatic out there into the world or it’ll start fermenting in your brain and make you sick. So what if it doesn’t turn out exactly the way you imagined it? You’ll have another idea tomorrow. And if it matters that much, you can always do it again. Go make! Good luck!

Uncertainty riddled my thoughts as I boarded the Hogwarts Express. Hesitancy accented by body language, and slowed down every step I took. Everyone just seemed to know where to go, well...except for the first years. Here I was, older than the first years, looking just as lost and ridiculous.

Wondering down a hall, trying to find somewhere empty to sit, my body collides with someone. I look up, to see a boy with bright red hair standing over me. "Oh, bloody hell, are you alright?" He asks, and stretches out a hand to pull me up. I take his hand, and dust myself off. "Yeah, yeah, my ass broke my fall."

He chuckles, "Are you American?" My face beats up a bit and I awkwardly laugh, "That obvious?" He gives me a small nod. His pale skin can't hide the redness under his cheeks. "I'm Leah, I'm starting my fourth year." I give him my hand, and he eagerly shakes it, maybe a second too long. "Ron, I'm also a fourth year. I don't think I've seen you around here before-"

"I'm a transfer...from Ilvermony." I watch as the gears turn in his head, and he realizes why he's never seen me before. "I take it you don't have anyone to sit with?" He asks.

"What's that supposed to mean, Ron?" I tease.

"I-I just mean that...yknow you probably don't know anyone yet." He struggles through his embarrassment, I think it's sweet. "I was only joking." I tell him. He lets out a sigh of relief, and his shoulders slouch with the weight I've just taken off of him.

"Come sit with me and my friends, then." I take him up on his invite, following him to a carriage on the train.

There sat a boy with messy brown hair that framed his face, and circular glasses resting on his nose. He looked so familiar, but I just couldn't place my finger on it.

Next to him was a girl, with messy ginger hair, and a striking look on her face as I walked in. I wouldn't describe it as pleased, more like...challenged.

"That's Harry, and that's Hermione. This is Leah" He quickly introduced us all. Harry and Hermione looked equally confused as I took a seat, "Ron invited me to sit with you guys, it's nice to meet you." I smiled. The two gave me fake sweet smiles and a forced response.

An awkward tension hung over the carriage, I mostly spoke to Ron who was much more conversational than the other two. Hermione not-so-subtly glared daggers between Ron and I, her eyes peering over the newspaper she read. My aunt was reading the same one just this morning before she took me to King's Cross, but I forgot to ask about it.

'SCENES OF TERROR AT THE QUIDDITCH WORLD CUP' Headlined the page, hanging over a animated black-and-white photograph. I tried to make out what the picture was, some sort of skull and snake, I believe.

"So...what happened at the quidditch World Cup?" I decided to ask. Hermione lowered the paper, her lips still pursed and eyes steady on me.

"How do you not know? It's everywhere" She replied.

"I've had a busy summer, a little too preoccupied with moving to London."

"Surely you know about the Death Eaters and their attack?" Ron asks me, lowering his voice.

"No...no, I don't." I feel like I've just prodded at a sensitive topic, and even though Hermione and Harry aren't too warm to me, I hope I haven't just ruined my chance at being their friends.

"The Death Eaters attacked some muggles, and started a riot at the World Cup." Harry breaks his silence on the matter. As soon as he's done talking, he looks away, and focuses on the scenery outside of the window. I nod back, even though he's not even looking at me. There are no words that feel right to say right now. The air is suddenly heavy. Even Ron can't hide his look of disdain.

"Excuse me, I'm gonna go use the restroom." I stand to my feet, and exit the carriage. The heavy atmosphere seems to follow me, weighing me down. My heart aches for Ilvermony and for my friends there. I don't want to know any of these people, I don't want to start again. I want to go home. All I can think of is home.

As I reach the bathroom, the door swings open. Out steps a blonde boy, in a black suit. My spiraling stops as I realize he's the same boy from the book store. He stands there, and I decide to make the first move.

"Excuse me, how are these manners for you?" I spit as I shoulder check him as he did to me. Just as I grab the handle to the bathroom, and try to make my way inside, his hand latches around my arm. His grip is tight, and he inches closer to me. I can hear each breath he takes as he squeezes tighter.

"You should know your place, little American girl." He growls and lets go, shoving me back a little. I hit the doorframe and watch as he walks away.

I glance around to see if anyone saw, and to my luck, no one did. I shut the door behind me, and lock it. As soon as I hear the door lock, I start to cry.

I want to go home.

Yuma is Bloom/the fairy of the dragon flame, and Shinigami is Daphne/that ghost nymph that's his dead sister, it just made the most sense, and they have the same place in the MDARC universe below too anyway. Shini would be much more involved I think. Not just give him cryptic dreams but flat out follow him around everywhere and just tell him stuff.

Backstory stays the same I think? Yuma is a prince of Domino (also he has god powers. from god, made of god) and as an infant his home planet gets fucking obliterated by the Ancestresses so Shinigami yoinks him to Earth where they can't find him. Then he gets adopted and also he's 16.

"yeah so anyway many years ago in ancient history your home planet was destroyed and everyone died so I teleported you to Wyoming" "the fuck you mean ancient history I'm only like 16 how was I an infant when it happened??" "Anyway,"

After some kind of ruckus he meets a fairy (specific guy pending) then awakens his god fire dragon powers then finds out he's a fairy and then tries to lie his way into the fairy school and then joins it for real uhhh hell yeah I fucking rock at summarizing

Anyway. The winx. The six of them. We know Yuma is Bloom/the dragon flame fairy. Onto the next 5, which are the NDA since it makes most sense (peacekeepers can be the witches. whatever):

Fubuki is Stella aka fairy of the sun & moon. Kind of because of the whole "princess" thing (although, like, three of the winx are princesses anyway so it's not really that special for them), but also I think she just really fits. I think it'd be cute for Yuma and Fubuki to be the closest pair of friends there... And also because Stella's got that teleportation scepter, and planet travel is kind of similiar to time travel anyway.

Yakou is Flora aka fairy of nature. I think he should be a bit older than the others but just kept being held back a few classes (he's doing fine at school it's just. the horrors keep getting to him every time the exams roll up......). I picked him as Flora for only one reason. One reason

Desuhiko is Musa aka fairy of music because haha music. Musa I'm so sorry but he had to be someone.

Halara is Tecna aka fairy of technology because they both don't really show emotions that much and are pretty smart. So yeah. Also no Tecna slander allowed

(and while Aisha aka the princess of Andros + fairy of morphix & water(?) doesn't appear until s2, Vivia takes her place. It even makes some sense if you squint. Maybe the pixies are more ghost-like in this?)

Onto the schools... Alfea's - aka fairy school - principal/headmaster (is there a difference??) is fake old man Number One. Cloudy Tower's - aka witch school where everybody is an asshole - principal/headmaster is Dr. Huesca and he fucking hates everybody in that building.

Most detectives get assigned to Alfea, and most peacekeeper/Amaterasu corp characters get assigned to Cloudy Tower.

We got the club, now onto the witches attending Cloudy Tower.....

Starting with the Trix aka the 3-person coven (they're very close and call each others "sisters" but aren't biologically. well they are distant cousins but. yknow), which are the descendants of the Ancestral Witches (where do I even fucking start. Ancient, extremely fucked up and evil and powerful, ghosts, created an artificial evil sonboy out of a stray spark of the dragon flame they found in a ditch somewhere, destroyed the planet Domino, did I say they're really really evil and most sane and normal people do not try to seek them out to serve them unlike THESE transgender little idiots), want to serve them and get really powerful and rule the world and stuff and also hate fairies but that's a given for all witches and fairies kinda lmao. They also homoerotically bully Bloom

Aside from the atrocities and bigotry and general rancidity they are actually pretty wholesome you gotta trust me on this one please you gotta believe me

Yomi is Icy aka the witch of ice. This is because 1) Both fucking changed my life and me as a person without them there would be no me, now thank them. 2) leaders. 3) in the show, Icy's generally the meanest/most sadistic out of her sisters, and Yomi does like sitting on his girlfriend and whipping people and the cube incident and the yakover incident and the whole torturing people with handmade tools. 4) perfect balance between actually competent & pathetic 5) gay 6) trans men. Icy is a man. He just doesn't know it yet. I've been saying this

Martina is Darcy aka the witch of darkness & illusions & apparently mind control. Martina's much more on the verbal/psychological side of tormenting people rather than Yomi who just prefers the more physical torture type, so she can be tweaked a bit to start manipulating people as hobby. Like Darcy. Also they got glasses. And kind of similiar hair. And date a guy. Fuck Riven he deserved to get mind controlled

Guillaume is Stormy aka witch of storms because they're both really fucking hyper although Guillaume seems to be in a much better place than Stormy. Guillaume is always so cheerful while watching people die meanwhile Stormy sounds like she's permanently on the verge of a breakdown

Wait. Wait wait wait wait a minute. So Icy sometimes turns people into ice statues in the show..... Yomi can literally turn people into ice cubes........ Effervescent au 10/10

Anyway the plot in s1 is that the Trix steal Bloom'/Yuma's dragon flame (fire powers) and do world domination for 2 minutes before Yuma wills it back into him and punts them into the sun. The bridal carries Yomi down once he's unconscious and defeated yeah that scene was pretty gay

Onto Mirta and Lucy aka the girls who get bullied by the Trix that one season and are later nearly completely forgotten as the show goes on.....

Seth is Mirta. He's the same deeply unpleasant person like in Rain Code. He does not get bullied at school because he thinks fairies don't suck, he does, he gets bullied because he's a loser.

There was that one arc where Darcy aka Martina turned him into a pumpkin in s1 and Flora aka Yakou tends to him until they find a cure. Yes that is the whole reason as to why Yakou has to be Flora. Because of woke (furroughs)

Maybe he gets turned into a flower instead......

(and I also forgot to mention but Mirta/Seth ALSO leaves Cloudy Tower to become a fairy. maybe they're exes...... forced to awkwardly interact...... maybe they start dating again............)

Lucy I'm a bit lost on currently. She was Mirta's aka Seth's only friend in Cloudy Tower and also got shoved in lockers by the Trix. Unlike Mirta, she's still rude and hates fairies (though she's a bit cowardly and VERY insecure); but sticks around with her anyway, maybe because outcasts gravitate to each other. Often follows the wrong crowd out of wanting to prove to others she's amazing, and gave off the impression that deep down really wanted the Trix to let her suck up to them, but alas, they think she's cringe - ah wait, not an impression. That's just what her character was. Back in season 1 she was OBSESSED with the Trix. Alas they think she's cringe

That's literally so pathetic it's funny. It's fucking hilarious. That poor thing.

Anyway. Who the fuck is she. Fake Zilch because uhhhh gay for Yomi???? but he's not that pathetic he's actually pretty cool he wouldn't get bullied he'll fucking kill everybody in that school and burn their bodies. Or do I tweak his role so that he doesn't suck anymore....... much to think about..........

As for the other characters, from season 1-3 since they are pretty connected unlike all the others and also the fandom considers them to be the only canon seasons of the show sometimes with the inclusion of s4 but its on thin ice

I really wanted to include Makoto and thought it'd be fun if he were Valtor.

For those who don't know who Valtor is (which is probably most of you) -- he is a villain in season 3, and he was created by the Ancestresses using only a spark of the dragon flame, and taught him how to kill people, which both made him a very powerful being. He was involved in the destruction of Domino, and while briefly defeated and dematerialized(?), he came back many years later and fucking slayed. He has minions but still actually does a lot of things on his own (even literally just tasking the Trix with the less important tasks while he carries the whole mission), is a skilled manipulator, and shows reluctant interest in Bloom (the actual keeper of the rest of the dragon flame), saves her life on their first meeting and admires her from far, expresses that he needs/wants someone capable to share his power with and while she's a thorn at his side he still tries to persuade her into joining him just for the lulz. Also he marks people. With his mark. On their neck

Both have a connection to Bloom/Yuma & a certain place, are artificially made, vampire aesthetic haha get it, and Valtor worked with Trix as his goons, so here's how Mako-Yomi interactions can still happen. Valtor is a cool villain but Makoto's not really evil, so maybe he's actually trying to bring the planet of Domino back using Yuma's dragon flame (which maybe means killing him??) and then has to be gently reasoned with so that he'd stop destroying shit.

Might be relevant...... the mind Valtor(tm) from my personal canon, not the show's canon, is actually Domino. When the Ancestresses "destroyed" Domino -- which wasn't really true, since the planet did get brough back/restored later, along with all the people on it! hmm. -- they actually trapped it inside Valtor, and he himself was a corrupted amalgamation of all the people that lived there; killing him would be what truly destroys Domino, so the Winx had to find a different solution. I just thought that banged, and--

-- what if Makoto-Valtor didn't know. What if he was just Some Guy (or thought he was) with a connection to Domino and he really wanted to go against the Ancestresses to bring it back but then he found out that he literally is just Domino and as long as he's alive it will remain dead & if he gets killed it will get lost for good. Kanai Ward reveal the truth labirynth dilemma but on steroids this time. Anyway still a wip section we're still working on details man,

Like, I was browsing R/Juggalo and someone posted selfies of themself in their face paint asking to make some wicked clown friends and the comments were filled with "Elder Juggalos" calling them a Juggaho and an attention whore and telling them to go outside. Like, y'all were a kid trying to find a community once too and now that you have it this is what you're doing to someone who was exactly like you at one point? God y'all are fucking terrible. Makes me scared to interact with anyone above the age of 25 who's a Juggalo to be honest. yeah i mean. outside of tumblr i don’t really go on the internet that much, so maybe i’m not the right one to ask. but i can see why you’d be put out by interactions like that.

the ‘older vs. younger/longtime vs. new fan’ friction is something that happens in kinda every fanbase ever, if you look around. gatekeeping is a bummer, but that’s sorta just what happens when any familiar landscape starts to change, it makes people uncomfortable en they start pushing back. in the case of ICP, there’s been such a huge wave of new (and reeeeally young) juggalos lately (i think cause of tiktok and homestuck getting more popular again & stuff?), so the landscape is changing like …….. a lot. & incredibly fast.

from what i’ve seen on this blog, it seems like a really high proportion of the newer and younger fans getting into ICP are also blogging about topics like dissociative identity disorder/systems/alters, being neurodivergent, neopronouns, xenogenders, OCs, furry stuff. i’m personally all for minding my own business and letting people talk about whatever they want (especially when they’re minors, like what the fuck? leave ‘em alone), but yknow. that ‘type’ of fan is understandable really, really different from the type of fan who grew up 30 years ago. yknow? i’m a young person, i’m intersex and queer, and even i don’t really ‘get’ what a xenogender is. if i was a cishet white guy born in 1980 who only uses reddit and facebook, i’d probably be confused as shit.

not defending anyone being a gatekeepy/bigoted/sexist asshole, but it’s something to consider when you’re wondering where all the hate is stemming from (i.e., discomfort). with a ton of new, wildly different fans starting to enter an established fan community, there’s some likelihood of people getting defensive and reacting immaturely about it.

With regards to Laxus' iconic eye scar I don't really think there was any deep reasoning or logic behind it on Mashima's end (from a character design stand point at least) other than having it be a visual tell that yup, this guy's got lightning powers so he's got a lightning shaped scar to let the audience have a clue about that. It's a similar thing with like, giving your fire characters flame printed clothing, or your evil characters red eyes or your yugioh character crazy hair to let the audience know that this is the protag.

It's more of an element to add some interest to his design and key readers into his magic before the big reveal than something i think was definitely added to tie into any backstory related thing.

And if it is connected to anything backstory related that was revealed later down the line a la 100yr quest i dont care because i dont care about anything to do with the sequel lol.

That being said, i've had this old ass concept regarding Laxus' scar that i've always meant to get around to and you've given me the perfect opportunity to talk about it.

So like, in my head and my tweaked version, Laxus' scarring is instead of a random cool looking lighting scar it's literally lightning scars.

Like scars you get from being struck by lightning. Lichtenberg figures.

Reasoning for this is because I've always figured that the operation that dropped that lacrima in him was a botched one. A sorta test run of making a 2nd gen slayer to work out the kinks down the line for better and smoother operations.

So that being said, in the initial months after the operation the lacrima did not adjust smoothly to being in Laxus' body and adapting to work with his natural ethernano so the lacrima would often times send out shocks through his body during that time as the dragon lacrima's and his ethernano particles would slowly sync up and work in unison

Hence resulting in the all over lichtenberg scarring starting from his chest (i always hc the lacrima's somewhere in the chest near the heart or so) and going through the head, arm and leg as exit points for the electricity when he used to get those shocks.

And the scarring would sorta wrap around his head too! If you shaved his head (sorry King) you would see that it would stretch across the scalp as well.

This whole thing also left his right eye slighter weaker than the other (not enough for him to be completely blind in it but it goes kinda fuzzy sometimes).

The whole full body scarring never really raised much questions though, a lot of people who see it just assume that it was a really bad magic accident (I hc that some elemental magics are more volatile and trickier to master due to the danger they could pose to the user so stuff like lighting and poison for eg are less commonly used than say water or air related magics). But those who know, know (Hello Makarov and Thunder Legion).

So uh, yeah. My headcanon and slight redesign regarding Laxus' scarring lol. Probs a lot more extra than you were bargaining for but i wanted to be able to visualize my idea properly 😅

shea getting sexualized and i hate it.

as a woman who likes wearing bras as if theyre crop tops and such, i dont think it's inherently sexual for a character to. but, its just the fact that mary has never until recently (unless im failing to recall like 1-2 panels) worn anything but baggy clothes and it icks me that she suddenly is and during the point she is, we get a close up of her tits. it doesnt feel like a coincidence and maybe it bothers me more than it should but i pray this isnt a slippery slope and ptj wont end up ruining her too.

I completely agree though. The latest panels that she was in (that I can recall) are just peak male gaze. Which, I don't necessarily mind - because you gotta give something to the teenage boy fans. OK NOW TO ANSWER LIKE. THE OPINION QUESTION MORE DIRECTLY. He's a really fun character and as a duo with Robert he works rather well. He's ways in the background, overshadowed by his brother...(Who kind of needs him sometimes since the start of the company and YKNOW the literal guy he uh. Stands on to be level with the other Cogs. Like these guys need each other and I can elaborate on that more later) Working quietly. And yet he's quite the talker when he opens up and gets the chance to!! He's like me and a lot of people I know (I sure relate to him in this regard lol I literally state I ramble a lot in MY BIO and I DO) - more quiet and reserved people, sometimes seen as lonely... But with many things on mind, just waiting for the right people to trust to share these things with. Genuine trust or just comfort in a given situation... It's whatever but it's does also tie to another thing I wanna talk about later....or now actually

I know they state he is not befriending the Toons in the podcast - but with the way he speaks with us and his literal actions - it speaks louder than that and I think we should be allowed to make the interpretation that he is slowly gaining our trust. And I think it's a very interesting concept that the literal brother of the man behind this evil company that goes against the toons... Is befriending them. ( and literally your comic) the potential here is insane and it's more interesting than just yeah he stays true to his word he doesn't like you

Despite the two (Him and Robert ofc) not exactly agreeing on things alwyad there's still care between them as brothers... They really are a duo!! Even if the topic is uh. Thomas and Robert are already the most like, lore full characters (or Cogs specifically) other than some mgrs now and Atticus and Redd - but there's still so much like... Of an mysterious aura about them. We only hear about their lives and never see it... Robert we see in action in the comics - but we see him ONCE in game in a CUTSCENE MOST PEOPLE SKIP... Thomas we see in the background of the comics only speaking like... Once, I believe?? Even if he's there he's really easy to just... Not even notice. But he appears ingame and speaks DIRECTLY TO YOU. SEVERAL TIMES. for ALMOST HALF AN HOUR STRAIGHT...and he tells you a lot about his and by extentions Robert's personal life - something the comics can't tell you, and surely not the short cutscene with Robert during the directors fight

Like... They have the most lore but a lot of things are still unclear and it makes people want more answers and ponder more and it's BRILLIANT. I love it. I mean... I could rant about how a lot of info is hardly accessible in TTCC as a genuine criticism of how the game and lore is handled... But that's maybe for another day. BACK TO THOMAS SO LIKE ANYWAY- Thank you for canon aro ace character who states his opinions directly and is not forced to do it... And for fans being respectful about his identity for the most part as I can see and not... Forcing him to be romantic for ships. I avoid the fandom, mostly, specifically for reasons like this and because people scare me... So. I don't know how it really is. But an issue with aro ace characters is that even if we have a Canon one often fans will make them involved in romance for stupid ships anyway, absolutely erasing their identity. And then they bring up the "SOME AROSPEC/ASPEC PEOPLE DO DATE"... But they do this for all characters and ignore the chunk of people who don't, who just want to see themselves represented in media...im very tired of this being taken away from us as... Yknow. Okay hey did you know I work with plants too? Yeah. (VERY SHITTY) agriculture school goer here.. Florist specifically.. Yeah I have no life plans for this but that's personal. Oh hey that sounds like someone I know. (also being around plants a lot makes me think abt thomas bc of association... And bc I'm spaces out 24/7 very likely thinking about my hyperfixation and the lore anyway to escape the moment. Uh I have problems OK?) Anyways...

Before I get to general projection stuff I wanna say my hcs!!

I think he sometimes carries gardening tools in his pockets and forgets about them. I do that. Forgets whole sharp gardening shears and then he needs to take out a pencil for someone, and instead he whips out something use able as a weapon. FUN!

I am not sure if it's stayed what his first knitting was ever... But whether or not this was his first or later knitting project doesn't matter - but I like to think that he knitted pot decorations for his plants!! Little pot sweaters, maybe!! Wouldn't even overheat the plants (some plants have veeery specific requirements but his ficuses should be fine) , I think, they don't give off heat for the sweater to insulate anyway, so it would really be just decorational....

And again, if the Cogs had cats I think he'd be a cat dad.

And now. The personal projection observation part... A reason why I think I like him so much is because I relate to him AND Robert. As someone who is a... Well. The anger issue filled, family failure shorter and younger sibling in my family... I can see myself in that. Some parts of the story really hit home... I'm not gonna get too personal here, but my relationship with my brother is... Rocky...been getting better though. He's very successful and I haven't done much in my life. He's the leader role. On the other hand, the dynamic here for Thomas and Robert is swapped... Thomas could've followed the success his parents set him up for, but he followed the lead of his brother instead - who his parents didn't see as good enough.

It's very different things, yes, but the things that are similar are what brings it a bit closer... Even if some things don't align well I can feel my heart sink when Thomas talks about it because. Ahaha yeah that ties to some of my biggest worries in life and it relates to me being the loser child in the family whoops
