Anti-Romantic, Part 2
(credit to the original owner of the image)
Character | Jaehyun x reader
Genre | nonidol!au, Mutual Pining, Slowburn, Fluff
WordCount | 2 K (bitesized for your convenience lol)
Author'sNote | I know this is kinda short, but I've decided not to rush the ending. I'm for sure not drag it out too much, but the slowburn reaaaally got to me and I ended up liking more than I orginially thought, so! I'll be back to post Part 3 tomorrow!
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
I know that you love me, It makes me deeply drunk
Youâre like champagne, I shouldnât do this
Youâre at the base of the stairs to your apartment complex when he pulls up. The window on the passenger side rolls down.
âHurry! I think theyâre about to wash the machines at the ice cream shop!â he reaches over and opens your door while you grab your two bags and your pillow. You loved him, you really did, but he had the flattest, most uncomfortable pillows in the world in his guestroom.
âWhat? Why didnât you stop there before picking me up? Itâs not like you donât know what I like.â Youâre trying to move all your stuff to the backseat as he pulls away.
He sighs, âThank you Jae, youâre so nice to pick me up,â he mutters. Youâd be a bit apologetic if it wasnât for the grin he was trying to hide. âIâve already spent most of my âspecialâ day alone, thanks to someone who had to bail on me. I wanna spend the rest with you.â
âI knew it, it bothered you didnât it?â You accused while fastening your seatbelt. âNext time, just tell me, I know it seems as if I know everything but I actually canât read minds.â You knew he was just messing with you but for some reason his words cut at the guilty feeling you were trying to push away. âI actually got you something this time around, itâs why I wanted to see you before the day ended.â
Jae parks the car outside the shop before turning to you, âwait, did you really get me something?â You sigh, offended, âwell, if you donât want it or donât like the idea of it, then I can still return it.â
âI just thought of you when I saw itâŠâ crap, itâs too soon for you to go anywhere near that subject.
âThatâs not what I meant,â he shakes his head, âItâs just been a while since we shared birthday gifts.â You look away from him. If he kept this up, youâll start to regret calling him. Your hands were slightly shaking with the effort of not reaching over and pouring all your feelings into him. Unlike what youâre used to, he was dressed down with a simple t-shirt and grey sweats. He looked so soft, and domestic. You hated how much you loved it. At least for work, you had both always been professionally dressed, which was a nice barrier for your thoughts. If you dressed professional, you felt professional. This helped control your thoughts. But now that you were here with him, it was definitely harder to keep track of your thoughts.
Today was a day for him, not for you. You took in a deep breath as you turn to look at the shop. It looked like they were getting ready to start closing duties. Even if you werenât looking at him, you could feel your heart race with acute awareness to his proximity in the small car. He was waiting for a response.
You open your door, âyeah wellâŠif we donât hurry, we wonât get those diabetes-inducing bombs youâre so fond of. And this all would have been for naught.â You needed to get a grip, fast.
I can clearly see the end, Worse than a hangover
It will be hard, Now, Just end it somewhere here
âI canât believe you told them it was my birthday,â he groaned, pushing off his shoes at the door. You followed suit.
âOf course I did, it meant free goodies!â You raise the plastic bag with macarons. âIt just sucks that theyâre all valentineâs themed.â You make your way to the kitchen to put away the snacks you brought, dumping your overnight bag at the door of the guestroom. Maybe if you kept the heart-shaped gift out of sight, it wonât make you as nervous with him.
âI brought your fave by the way, chocolate covered almonds and gummy bears,â you call out. He appears in the kitchen, hair out of his way with a headband. Be still my heart, you thought. You decide to hyper-focus on placing some snacks on a plate to bring to the living room.
âSo, whatâs the plan?â He reaches over you to grab a water bottle from the fridge, brushing your hip with his front. No no no no no no no!
Was he teasing you? You knew that your face would give you away, you could feel how warm your ears and cheeks were. You hated how honest your face was, and it didnât help that Jae knew you like the back of his hand. Maybe this is how he is nowadays? Flirty and confident? Youâd be lying if you didnât find it attractive, but not when his attention was only directed at you. You felt like you were slowly suffocating but even that wouldnât stop the warm light that seemed to burst from your chest.
It seemed so easy to pretend you were closer to him, to pretend this happened all the time. That you were close enough to reciprocate his flirty actions.
âuh, em,â you clear your throat, âactually, I remembered you wanting to see that movie last time we hung out. I have it ready in my apple tv account.â You back away with the tray, âcan you also grab me a water?â your throat was suddenly parched.
You settle in the couch, grabbing the throw blanket behind you. Any physical barrier you could place between you, youâd take it gratefully. âYou remembered? That was almost three months ago, when the trailer came out.â He handed you your water and grabbed at the corner of the blanket nearest to him, covering himself with it and moving closer to you so that you both could fit under it.
âJae, thereâs another blanket on your side of the couch,â you wanted to feel embarrassed but you just felt an unexpected giddy feeling at him wanting to be near you. âYeah but itâs my birthday and this blanket is my favorite,â he says as he pulls you closer and wraps his arm behind you on the couch.
âhere, put in your credentials so we can start the movie,â he hands you the remote.
You suddenly thank your lucky stars that the movie was an action packed one and not a romantic one. You couldnât help but sink further into his side, wanting to be comfortable. As the movie starts, he takes the remote from your hand and wraps your arm around him. âIâm cold, keep me warm,â he mutters. Oh sweet Jesus.
Back in the day, this wouldnât have been something new. Your friends knew you were very heavy with the affectionate touches. A hug, sharing seats, even holding hands. You never shied away from it because it was part of how you showed your friends that you loved them. Some of your friends were also this way, so it was never weird. But now that youâre older, and now that itâs been a long long time since youâve been close to someone else, the once innocent touches Jae was giving you felt like hot brands across your shoulders and under your arm. If you focused enough, you could feel his hard work at the gym in the way your softness gave way to the hard contours of his leg that pressed against yours and how your shoulder leaned against his chest.
This was going to be a long movie.
You prayed that Jae wouldnât ask you what the movie was about, you only had enough sanity to pay attention to the first fifteen minutes. It was all a blur after Jae pulled you half over on his lap, âyouâre hogging the blanket, move over,â was the only excuse he gave.
Now, your legs were tangled with his and you sat almost on his lap, his arms encircling you from behind. He felt so soft and every little movement made your skin break out in goosebumps. You felt like a live wire about to explode.
âD-did you like it?â you started shifting to the side so you could face him but he held you tighter in place, resting his chin on your shoulder. âyeah, it was pretty good, we have to wait for the end credits though. I heard that theyâre starting to give hints about The Eternals.â
âDid you like it?â he squeezes your middle.
Did you? Youâre not sure, but you sure as hell loved the attention you were getting for the past two and half hours. âYeah, all Marvel movies are great,â you finally concede.
âWanna watch another one? You can pick this time,â his hand started tracing through your arm as you waited for the stupid end scene that was taking too long to start. Is it getting hot in here?
âSure, whatever you want,â you mutter. He could have asked you for the most ridiculous thing and you would have still agreed to it.
Jae wakes with a start, the room was dark, the only light came from the still on TV. A show was playing softly, the clock under the tv read 3:45 am. He felt pretty hot, was the A/C not working?
He begins to shift when he realizes the position you both are in. Your legs were still tangled together, as if unconsciously refusing to let go of the proximity. You gripped his shoulder, your breath hitting his neck as you slept soundly on top of him. God, if this is a dream, let me never wake up, he thinks.
He usually hates being too close to someone, any sort of intimacy was bad news to Jaehyun. Either emotionally or physically, he kept everyone at a distance because he had seen it too often. How people settled for something they werenât sure of and hurting those involved. He was aware he was too logical sometimes, but itâs what he knew to protect himself. Moments like these, they only lead to expectations and empty feelings, leaving behind only pain that even time couldnât heal sometimes.
But why was he finding it so hard to untangle himself from your embrace? He should go to his bed and sleep comfortably, but at the same time, having you in his arms felt just right. Like two pieces of a puzzle finally coming together.
He could smell the light scent that was you and it almost made him squeeze you closer, as if it was possible. You smelled of spring, a light floral scent that reminded him of better days.
He was glad he woke up, he was going to enjoy every second of peace this brought him. He would store it in a little box and hold on tightly when the cold reality came back. As he fought with his drowsiness, he felt you nestle closer. He kissed the crown of your head as he finally gave in to sleep. I hope I dream of you⊠If this was love, he finally understood why sometimes the pain was worth a shot.
So stupid, sweet love song, extravagant rom-com
As much as I was happy, on the receipt thereâs a red line
EndNote | I know this chapter was pretty short. In all honesty, I had written something else before deleting it entirely and starting again, but I really like the direction the story is going now. Hopefully I can update Part 3 tomorrow, but I'm really excited about it!

A really dumb comfort scenario by Mommabean
Dabi x Reader fluff stuff
Dabi never used to see himself as a night owl. Standing out as the skies turn from a pleasant purple to a dark shade of black speckled with bright stars wasnât something he saw himself enjoying, not until a few months ago when fate decided he needed to meet someone worth staying out late with.
Usually he prefers to just stay inside and do his own thing, be that scrolling through memes or simply just listening to music while he turns the lights off and drifts into his mind for a few hours. On rare occasions heâll spend time with friends, but it drains him considerably and he has to recharge his battery afterwards.
It doesnât mean he hates them, heâs just not a person with a lot of energy, but he knows people take it personally. Which canât really be helped as he isnât the best with words on explaining why he does what he does, honestly he doesnât even know.
Typically his weeks goes like this - working with assholes who act like siblings rather than coworkers, then wanting to unwind as soon as he gets home because if he doesnïżœïżœt heâll snap or possibly have a mental break. Which probably already happened considering where he is now, but another break isnât something to want to happen either.
But Dabi was forced out one night a few months back by Toga, who he canât say no to often as sheâs like a little sister and he adores her as such, and was dragged practically to a restaurant for drinks and food as a way to celebrate their hard work. Even Shigaraki got a stick out of his ass for a hangout, so he supposed he could suck it up for their sake.
Leave it to his soft heart to make him torture his own antisocial ass. However, this time he was seemingly gifted, as he heard laughter from across the room and saw you, giggling and almost snorting as you covered your face at the ridiculous joke a friend made. You looked absolutely precious, for lack of a better word. Not a care in the world as you laughed and giggled so hard you lost your breath.
He was drawn to the brightness you added to the dull restaurant, vaguely paying attention to the conversation his own group was having as you peaked his interest. Dabi figures he was being too obvious with his staring, as you looked over and met his gaze directly, but instead of flipping him off and acting like a full Karen, you waved and gave a shy smile.
That kinda hurt to not see that pretty smile. Youâve hidden it the entire time heâs been watching you, as if you hated it. Well, heâs got a plan for that, just you wait. Heâll get you to smile for him, just give him time. He remembers how he managed to greet you, both of you talking and surprisingly having a lot in common.
A total mindfuck to find out an adorable, fluffy person like you was into murder documentaries, scary stories, horror films, and loved to study obscure and odd mysteries. Color him pleasantly surprised. You two kept chatting away after the awkward ice was broken, to the point your friends were getting a bit pissy and telling you to hurry up to leave.
Fuck âem. He didnât like them then and he doesnât like them now. Out of spite he wanted to ask you for a drink so he could drag out the conversation longer, but he didnât need to make a bad impression or make Shigaraki think he was pulling something. Which again, was fair, he was known for pulling some stupid shit every now and again.
Months. Itâs been months and he hasnât gotten tired of meeting you and being around you. Youâve had your arguments sure, had your moments where you and him were a bit tense, but that didnât deter anything. Hell, you two have nicknames for one another now, and he allows you to play with his hair every now and again. He doesnât let anyone get that close except Toga, you should be a little honored. Nothing is ever getting rid of him if you two are this close already.
Itâs still baffling. Months! And all this time, you still hid that pretty smile. The very thing that drew him too you in the first place. What do you have to be ashamed of? Besides your search history, absolutely nothing! Dabi sighs as he sits on the steps outside of his apartment, looking up to the night sky, waiting for you to answer on if you wanted to hangout or not. Either way he began to enjoy this new sight, this addition to his schedule was something he looked forward to more than his late night music sessions.
He was about to text you again, thumb hovering over the keyboard as he thought of what to say, but three dots appear and he decides to wait and see. You, being the sweetheart you are, tell him to wait and that youâll meet him in ten. A warm feeling fills his chest again knowing youâd be here. Itâs been happening a lot lately actually, and heâs not an idiot. He knows he likes you, heâs just never liked someone to this extent. Should he be embarrassed? Excited? Happy? Who the hell knows. All he knows is he would do anything for you, and his feelings towards you are only growing.
Dabi flicks his phone off after a minute and looks around, waiting for you to show up. While scanning the area, he heard frantic steps coming up the sidewalk that were approaching fast, in a panic. He jumps up to his feet to see who could be running his way, more curious than in the mood to save someone.
However, seeing you with tears running down your face wasnât at all what he expected. He felt rage and worry surge through him, an almost animal like possessiveness took over him and the idea that something happened makes him sick with anger. His body moves without him thinking, his arms wrapping around you and holding you tightly, listening to your shaking sobs as you cling to him and begin to apologize.
âHey- hey what happened?!â He asked sternly, sounding more pissed than worried, cringing slightly at his tone. Smart move asshole, make them feel even worse. Genius.
You stutter and begin to try and talk, but your throat is tight and your eyes are still pouring like waterfalls. You shake your head and clench your eyes shut again, burying your face into his chest as your knuckles turn white from gripping his sleeves for dear life. Dabi tensed, breath hitching as you hugged him tightly and began to shudder and weep into him.
Hands gently rub your back as he slowly walks with you, guiding you to the steps he was just at to help you sit down and get yourself together. âWhoâs ass do I need to kick?â.
You giggle at that, wiping your eyes as you shake your head playfully âNo ones Dabi...Iâve just been feeling super fucking depressed and stressed out because of work and I feel I have no time for myself anymore and...well I just needed to be with someone who understandsâ.
He was touched that you saw him as someone you could come too. Seriously have you seen him? Heâs the worlds most selfish asshole! He canât even trust himself half the time, especially when it comes to bothering people and pulling pranks. You might wanna reconsider who youâre trusting there.
Although hearing no one hurt you was calming, he was still worried for your wellbeing.
âI get it. I mean Iâm not the best with comforting but I understand what you mean. Itâs frustrating as hell not even having time to rest, and then having to head back to work for nine hours or more over and over...it ainât easyâ. He rubs the back of his neck as he speaks, already feeling the anxiety over his schedule for tomorrow.
Sniffling softly, you nod and scoot closer to him, his warmth soothing and comforting compared to the chilling winds of the night. âYeah. And it doesnât stop for decades. Iâll never have free time again or Iâll always feel tired and drained and I hate itâ.
Now thatâs not necessarily true, but he knows where youâre coming from. Every day lately seems like such a struggle, he knows it all too well. It was clear you needed more than to vent and rant, and he has just the thing to help the mood. âItâs not all that monotonous. I think youâre just overwhelmed and need a break. Wanna come in? I think we both need a drink and a few laughsâ.
You fiddle with your hands a bit, looking down at your feet with lips pursed in thought. âI can stay the night?â. What kind of question is that? Seriously what kind of question?! You literally just cried into his shirt no problem, now youâre worried about personal space? âDude, you really have to ask? Stay a fucking week if you want, just get your ass inside before I drag you inâ he jokes.
You look away as you smile, standing up and dusting off your legs before heading into his apartment behind him. Maybe tonight heâll get you to stop hiding that smile, to bring those walls down even more and let him show how amazing you are in his eyes. Just maybe.
((This was bad I know I know I just needed a way to vent -Mommabean))

Ice Cream Cake
Pairing(s): Pedro Pascal/Female Reader
Words: 3,233
Warnings: None
Pedro (in collaboration with your mother) throws you a party for your birthday, but not for the reason you originally thought.
DISCLAIMER!
So, the beautiful Maggie ( @221bshrlocked ) was talking here on Tumblr about an age gap between reader and Pedro and I am HEREđđ»FORđđ» ITđđ» so expect more of this because she's got me hooked. Blame her... when she gets back from her break! I originally planned for this to be FILTHY, but no matter how many times I tried to work it in, it just didn't fit. So, have some fluff instead! Maybe next time, you filthy whores.
This works as a stand-alone, but I do consider it to be in the same universe as Beautiful People. It isn't necessary in the slightest to read that before this, but it is available if you would like to give it a read.
As always, comments are welcomed and encouraged.
You can also follow me on Twitter if you'd like. My life is boring, but I try.
Enjoy!

My Masterlist
Itâs a warm summer evening. The frogs are croaking, the fireflies are starting to come out, and the crickets are singing as the sun began to dip over the horizon of the mountain. The perfect kind of evening for bonfires, camping, or even some late swimming. All great ways to spend a gorgeous evening. Far better than being pressed up against the glass of the local community center⊠in your opinion at least. However, for the sweaty fangirls, the chance of even getting a glimpse of your boyfriend was by far the better option.
âSuch heathens.â Your mamaw said, rolling her eyes at the crowd outside. âThey should show some dignity.â
âYou were young too, Mom. Cutâem a break.â You Mom replied, carrying a plate of homemade peanut butter rolls.
âWell, Iâd like to think Iâd have more respect than to stare and lust over a local's boyfriend on her birthday, famous or not. He ainât even here yet for cryinâ out loud!â You reached for one of the treats while your Mom was occupied, quickly stuffing it in your mouth. It was just as delicious as always.
âYou should call for more security. If theyâre like this when the man ainât even here, Iâd hate to see emâ when he does. Someoneâs gonna get hurt.â Your Mom thought for a moment, looking back to the crowd outside that had somehow doubled in just that short amount of time alone.
âYeah, youâre probably right. Iâll get on the phone and let the- Honey, donât eat all of your aunt Judyâs PB rolls!â Your Mom scolded you once she noticed your stuffed cheeks.
âI dunno what youâre talking about.â You replied, mouth still full.
âItâs the beeâs birthday, Annie. Leave erâlone.â
âThen you can explain to the guests why thereâs no rolls left.â The door suddenly opened, the overwhelming chatter from outside piercing the otherwise calm atmosphere of the community center and startling the three of you. You worried for a split second that maybe one of the fangirls had gone rouge and got past the guards or that one of the guests arrived way too early, but it was just your best friend, Emily⊠thank God.
âDamn, youâd think there was a celebrity nearby or something.â She joked, pointing her thumb back towards the door.
âThere isnât.â Emilyâs smirk morphed into pure confusion.
âWhaddya mean? I thought he was supposed to be here around four?â
âLast second table read. Set him back a few hours.â She nodded in understanding, stealing one of the peanut butter rolls from the plate your mom was still carrying. She was about to protest but decided to take the damn treats into the ballroom so they would quit getting swiped in the first place. Even then she had your brother to worry about.
âWell, come on. We gotta go get you all dolled up for your man.â You looked towards the crowd, the mere idea of walking past all of those people green with envy making you nervous. Security guards or not.
âW-we canât escape out of the back, can we?â
âNope, theyâre lined up back there too. I tired.â You threw your head back with a groan.
âFuck.â
âThereâs security out there, honey. Theyâll protect you.â You mamaw said.
âYeah, câmon. You donât wanna start your party in a ratty t-shirt and some jeans, do you?â
Honestly, you didnât care.
When Pedro asked you what you wanted to do for your 25th birthday, you answered with the what you normally did. Stay home, do nothing, treat yourself to an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen, and maybe have Emily come over.
âWhenâs the last time youâve done something special for your birthday?â Heâd asked.
âItâs been years. Iâm not the party type and I never have the money to do what I actually want. Even a DQ cake is a decent amount of cash for me.â He paused for a moment, obviously thinking.
â... What have you actually wanted to do?â You immediately knew what he was up to.
âNope! Donât even think about it! Itâs way too much money. Seriously, a DQ cake at home with you is more than enough.â It wasnât his idea of spoiling you on your birthday, but he agreed. If thatâs really what you wanted, then heâd give it to you. Whether you knew it or not, heâd give you the world if he could.
When you and Pedro visited your mother one weekend, she had asked you the same question. Before you could get out the answer you had given Pedro, she'd already replied with her own.
âYou know, you havenât had a proper party in years. We should throw you one.â You tried again to intervene, but Pedro stepped in.
âIâll help in any way I can. Mi Abeja deserves something special for her birthday.â
So much for your private DQ cake celebration.
You werenât ungrateful or anything. In fact, you really didnât mind it. A day of dancing and good food sounded great and you were thankful to have someone like Pedro that was able to give you that. However, seeing all these people stepping on each other just to get one glimpse of the man you love made you long for that DQ cake.
âPedroâs tee and jeans are fine.â You answered, Emily clicking her tongue at you and grabbing ahold of your arm. She dragged you towards the door and waved to your Mamaw.
âBe back in about two hours.â
Thankfully, you made it to Emilyâs car without a scratch, taking in a huge deep breath once you shut the passenger door.
You wanted to choke her.
____________________
Your hairstylist released the last lock of your hair from the curling wand with a whistle.
âLookinâ good, cutie! Pedroâs gonna faint when he sees you.â She exclaimed, spinning you around so you could take a look at your freshly styled hair. You cupped the curls framing your face and shook it out a little. Not even you could deny how much you loved being dolled up even if it hadnât been your idea.
âThanks, Jo. I love it.â
âYouâre welcome, baby.â You got up from the chair and walked over to your couch, picking up the gift box Pedro had given you last week. Heâd told you to wear it to your party, but not to open it until then.
âWell, open it! Letâs see what he picked out for you.â Emily exclaimed, obviously more excited about it than you were. Even Jo was peeking over as she got her stuff together.
You pulled the ribbon until it fell slack, placing the box back down on your couch to take the lid off. After fishing through a sea of tissue paper, you finally saw it. A black knee-length dress decorated with beautiful roses and daisies and a pair of black heels that had their own blossom.
âOoooo! How pretty!â Jo cooed, adorning the dress.
âMan, he has a good eye,â Emily added. âThatâs beautiful.â You looked over at her with a crooked eyebrow.
âDid you think he couldnât match colors or something?â
âNo, Iâm just saying that men usually suck at stuff like this, but he did great.â
After everything was done, you stepped in front of your full-body mirror to take a look at yourself. You hated to admit it, but you actually looked pretty good. Your hair was curled and framed your face nicely as the dress Pedro had got you hugged your body perfectly. You even liked the heels which was a shock. You hated heels, but he had managed to find a pair that werenât that tall so your feet wouldnât hurt. It was a very sweet gesture, but you'd still be taking them off before the night was over.
âShit!â Emily cursed. âYeah youâre beautiful bitch, we gotta go. Youâre going to be late for your own party!â You got back in her car as fast as possible, the heels slowing you down slightly. Despite that, you managed to make it in time, the security guards redirecting you to the upstairs entrance.
âPedroâs here and theyâve gone wild. Youâll have to go in where the guests come through. There's more of us up there.â Emily complained mildly about having to park farther than sheâd like, but you werenât really paying much attention to her. Since the guard had told you that your boyfriend was finally here, the only thing you could really focus on was getting to him.
You made your way down the stairs slowly but as fast as possible, trying to avoid using the handrails since the decorators had worked so hard on making them look nice. Suddenly, you heard the crowd gathered outside scream, distracting you from your slow descent. Youâre glad they did because at the bottom of the staircase stood the man you couldnât wait to get to, everything but him going out of focus.
He was wearing a maroon button-down tucked into a pair of black dress pants. The sleeves of his shirt were rolled up, exposing his toned forearms as the black tie sat crooked around his neck. His hair was also slicked back, a few curls defying the gel and coming down to rest on his forehead. His brown eyes were crinkled, his blinding smile causing butterflies to erupt in your stomach almost as much as the trimmed facial hair that framed his jawline.
You continued to make your way down, now using the previously avoided handrails so you could go faster. When you got to the last two steps, he held his hand out for you to take. You gladly did, his calloused hand so large and warm compared to yours. You giggled when the dork pressed a light kiss to your knuckle.
âAre you my Jack for the night?â You teased, earning a snorted laugh from him.
âNah. Just always wanted to do that. Didnât think Iâd get my chance tonight.â He made sure you came down the last two steps safely, you immediately wrapping your arms around him as soon as your heels touched the tiled floor. You laid your head on his shoulder with a content sigh, Pedro returning the hug as soon as you initiated it, his strong arms holding you tight as he pressed tender kisses to your temple.
âMissed you...â You said quietly, loud enough only for him to hear.
He parted with you ever so slightly to kiss you properly, his lips melding with yours so perfectly that you never wanted to come up for air.
âAlright, alright, break it up you two!â Your dad said, the only thing that saved you from being lost in his lips for the rest of the evening. âCâmon, everyoneâs been waitinâ to see ya.â You looked back up at Pedro, smiling wide as soon as you saw that he was staring.
âStop it.â You laugh. He laughs too, pressing another kiss to the side of your forehead.
âI canât help it. Mi Abeja looks so pretty tonight.â You reached up to his tie to fix it for him, your eyes focusing on the poorly tied knot that heâd obviously done himself.
âSave it. We have to go greet the family before they blow a gasket.â You said, patting his chest once his tie was finished. He stood next to you and put his hand on the small of your back, gesturing towards the ballroom with his free one.
âLead the way, honey.â
____________________
The party was well underway by now, the bass of the music thumping hard in your chest as you ate your second piece of birthday cake. It was no DQ ice cream cake, but you couldnât deny that your aunt Judy could bake.
After the cake was cut, the DJ started playing music, inviting everyone out to the dancefloor. Pedro asked if you wanted to go dance but you turned him down.
âNot yet. Iâll join you once I get my fix on cake.â He nodded, pressing a kiss to your forehead as he left to join your brother and a few of your cousins who were already âcutting the rugâ you guessed.
You watched as Pedro loosened up, him and your brother dancing so rediculously that you couldn't help but laugh.
Whether Pedro wanted to believe it or not, he was quickly becoming a Hollywood golden boy. He more than deserved it, but the pressure of it all got to him sometimes and you were ecstatic to see him relaxed for a change.
Heâd long discarded his tie, the hair gel barely holding back his curls that started to drape over his eyes that were crinkled up from smiling.
The song they were dancing to ended with one last thud from the bass, the DJ grabbing the mic as soon as it stopped.
âAlright folks, now weâre going to sllooww things down to allow the birthday girl to share a special dance with her love.â You looked up mid-bite of cake, not expecting to be singled out like that.
Pedro walked over to you, offering his hand as the slow song began to play. You quickly swallowed the bite of cake and wiped your mouth off with a napkin, placing your hand in his and allowing him to lead you to the dance floor.
He placed his large hands on your hips, pulling you close and laying his forehead atop of yours as your snaked your arms around his neck. You swayed with him for a bit, the flash of your momâs camera vaguely registering in your mind, but you didnât care. It all fades to nothing when youâre with him.
âYouâre so beautiful.â He said, his mocha gaze full of adoration when he lifted his head away to look at you.
âYouâre not so bad yourself.â
âEven for an old man?â You snickered.
âSo nice that any other old man could never compare.â He breathed a laugh through his nose, his crooked smile doing things to you.
You continued to sway to the song, Pedro spinning you around a few times before you settled back into your rhythm. You laid your head on his shoulder after a bit, allowing him to fully take the lead. One of his hands left your hip to come up and hold the back of your head as he pressed gentle pecks atop your head.
âI love you so much.â You smiled on his shoulder, one of your own hands tangling into his dark curls.
âI love you too.â
____________________
Later that night, you and Pedro laid quietly on your bed, his arms tightly wrapped around you as you watched TV together. It was super late and you both were exhausted, but neither of you wanted to sleep. You were quickly losing the battle, however. Your eyes starting to droop as Pedro played with your hair.
âDonât tell me youâre tapping out already.â He teased, his voice pulling you from the edge.
âMâsorry. Sâbeen a long day.â You felt his chest vibrate with a chuckle, his mustache tickling your cheek as he pressed a kiss to it.
âI had one more gift for you, but I guess it can wait until morning.â Despite how tired you were, you were curious as to what he could have up his sleeve and couldn't resist looking at him over your shoulder.
âWhat is it?â He laughed.
âAwake now, are we?â He teased, rising up from the sheets with you and getting up. âWait here. Iâll be right back.â
It took him longer than you expected and he made quite a bit of noise, but it was well worth it.
He watched your eyes light up with happiness as soon as your gaze landed on the piece of DQ ice cream cake he was holding in his right hand, a single lit candle atop of it. He was also holding a blue gift box with a white bow, but you were more focused on the frozen treat at the moment.
âAww, PedroâŠâ You cooed as he set the cake down in front of you with a kiss.
âHappy birthday, my sweet Abeja.â You blew the candle out and licked the ice cream off the bottom, setting it aside and digging into the slice. You groaned at the taste, the mattress shifting as Pedro sat back down next to you.
âGood?â You nodded.
âItâs DQ ice cream cake. How could it be bad?â He let you enjoy your treat, your attention suddenly shifting to the gift box heâd sat down. You pointed your fork at it.
âWhatâs that?â You asked with your mouthful. Pedro looked to the box and picked it up, gesturing for you to take it.
âWhy donât you open it and find out?â You gave him shifty eyes, setting your fork down to take the box out of his hands. You took the bow off and set it aside, lifting the lid off the box quickly. You froze when you saw what was inside.
Laying atop white tissue paper sat your passport and a Mickey Mouse ear hat. You slowly took the hat into your hands, only just now noticing the sticky note that was stuck on the other side. It read:
âTo DisneyWorld we will go for your special day, to create memories that will forever stay.â
You didnât even realize you were crying until Pedro reached up to wipe a tear off of your cheek.
âHow⊠how did yo-â
âI asked your mom. She said that youâve always wanted to spend your birthday at Disney but never had the money. I knew you wouldnât go if I told you about it ahead of time, so your Mom and I worked together to throw you a party so you wouldnât be suspicious.â
There was no way you could accept something this huge from him. It had to cost him a fortune⊠weeks of his schedule.
âWhat ab-â
âShhh.â He shushed. âNone of that. You deserve this, Abeja. You work so hard and barely get anything. Please, let me spoil you just this once.â You wanted to turn it down, the guilt of not helping him pay for it eating you up. Though you knew he was under contract with Disney in the first place and more than had enough money to pay for it, you still didn't want him to think that you were trying to mooch.
However, the look of pure nervousness and adoration on his face melted all of that guilt away.
You sat the hat down and reached for him, hugging him tightly as more tears fell down your cheeks.
â...Thank you.â Pedro let out a breath of air you didnât know he was holding, his arms hugging you back tenfold.
âNo amount of money is worth more than this. I promise you that, honey. Youâre worth so much more.â
You ended up falling asleep wrapped in his embrace, the day finally catching up with you. Pedro gently laid down, making sure not to wake you as he situated you to lay atop his chest while he laid on his back. You stirred as he pulled the blanket over the both of you, but didnât rouse any more after that.
He reached over and turned the TV off with the remote and switched off your lamp, pressing a kiss to the top of your head before drifting off right behind you.

Hello! Hope you are doing welll!
I saw that your requests were open so I thought why not?
How would Todoroki, Bakugo and kirishima react if the reader already had a boyfriend that went to another school or something. I imagine the girls from class 1A teasing the reader for not telling them.
Feel free to skip if you donât feel comfortable writing this. Take care
First, I wanna say thank you for requesting. Second, Iâm open to write whatever, so please donât be afraid to ask for what you want and I will try my best to write a scenario or just how the character would react to certain things in my head âșïžđ
Todoroki
You and Todoroki have been friends for a while and heâs been wanting to tell you about his feelings, but he was never sure how to express them. He knew how he felt about you, he just didnât know what you would say if you were to find out or if he were to tell you. Shouto is a very straightforward guy and heâll tell it like it is. He decided that today would be the day he finally tells you because itâs been eating at him for a while and he wanted to know how you felt or if he even had a chance.
Your friend group, which consists of Mina, Uraraka, Tsu, Kiri, Baku, Deku and Denki, were all gonna hang out after school at a nearby ice cream shop and then go to the movies.
You were in your room getting ready for the hang out with the girls and you were all excited since this week was a little stressful. You definitely ready for a little down time before doing your homework for the weekend.
The boys met you all by your room and you all headed out together.
When you were approaching the main gate, you noticed a familiar figure standing there. Itâs your boyfriend.
You run over to him excited and hug him.
âWhat are you doing here,â you ask excitedly
âI came to surprise you,â he said happily
You introduce him to all your friends and save Shouto for last.
âTodoroki, itâs nice to finally meet you. Theyâve told me all about you. I feel like I practically know you already.â
Todoroki shakes his hand. His heart breaks a little bit, but he hides it well because he loves seeing your smile.
âNice to meet you tooâ he says
âGuys, is it okay if he comes,â you ask expectantly
âI have no problem with it, that way we can give home the third degree since we havenât met him before,â Mina says teasing
Everyone agreed and you all went on your way.
Uraraka hung back with Todoroki.
âHey, you okay,â she asks concerned
âW-What are you talking about,â he asks her blushing
âI can see the way you look at her. I know you like her.â
âIs it that obvious,â he asks nervously
âMaybe not to her, but definitely to me.â
He stays quiet, but eventually smiles (like in the gif above)
You get to the ice cream shop and you all put two tables together. You and your boyfriend sit next to each other and Uraraka letâs Todoroki take the seat next to you.
You all enjoy your time together at the ice cream parlor, just talking and laughing, Todoroki sneaking glances at you when he can.
When itâs time to watch the movie, Todoroki heads in the aisle first with you behind him and your boyfriend behind you. Once seated, he starts feeling butterflies in his stomach. Heâs sat next you before, but never this close.
As the movie goes on, Shouto starts paying less and less attention to it and more attention to your free hand. He wanted nothing more than to hold it in his, caressing your delicate fingers, feeling the softness of your palms. He was distracted by the image in his head, he didnât even notice you asking him what he thought of the movie so far. He responded that it was good, but to be honest he couldnât care less about the movie. Not when you were clouding his thoughts.
You all made your way back to the dorms after the movie was over and you said goodbye to your boyfriend. Todoroki asked if he could walk with you to your room and you told him yes.
When youâre about to enter, he grabs your wrist to stop you
âWait,â he starts,âI have something I need to tell you, just please listen. I like you y/n. Iâve been wanting to tell you for a while, but I never knew how to say it. I planned to tell you today and I am aware that you have a boyfriend now, so I wonât try anything. Iâm not that kind of guy. Iâll still be there for you as a friend, whenever you need me. I hope youâll accept me, even knowing my feelings. I couldnât hide them from you any longer, so I just wanted to let you know. Good night, y/n.â
Bakugou
Bakugou is never really the type to convey his feelings in a conventional way, nor is he one to do it in front of people unless heâs pushed to his limit. Although he has feelings for you, he doesnât know how to express them properly, so he definitely gets easily annoyed when he does something for you and you tell him he shouldnât have or ask why he did what he did.
It would definitely go something like âWhat I have to have a reason?! Just accept it, okay!â or something like âIs what I gave you not good enough? Fine, Iâll take it back. Have it your way!â
He would definitely be blushing while saying these things to you because itâs not really what he means. Heâs putting himself out there which he doesnât normally do, but heâll do it for you because of how he feels.
Today you wanted to head to a bookstore in town after school and asked if he would go with you. He reluctantly, but also not so reluctantly said yes. You were very happy and told him that your boyfriend would be coming along too. He goes to a different school, so you donât get to see him very much, so you try to spend as much time with him as you can.
âB-boyfriend? When were you gonna tell me? I thought we were friends!â
âWe are Baku, best friends, but no one has ever asked and I didnât really wanna broadcast my relationship like a weirdo, so it basically stayed a secret. Technically, I didnât lie, I just never said anything.â
He starts pouting because you hadnât told him before that you were in a relationship, not that he was going to admit how he felt now, but if he had the option, he would want to.
At the end of the day, you and Bakugou meet your boyfriend at the school gates and immediately Bakugou starts sizing him up. Trying to figure whatâs so great about him and your boyfriend does the same thing, but in a bit of a nicer way. Heâs never met Bakugou either, so he was kinda nervous to meet him being that youâve told him about Bakugouâs hot headed-ness and attitude.
It was awkward at first, but they got to talking and found out they have similar things in common, but Bakugou still saw him as some extra.
You all finally get to the bookstore and when you got to the aisle you needed, your boyfriend stood behind you and put his arms around your waist and rested his head on your shoulder. Bakugou rolled his eyes and sucked his teeths.
âIâm gonna go to different section, you extras are making me sick,â he says then walks off upset
âIs he okay,â your boyfriend asks
âYeah, thatâs just how he is,â you say laughing and you werenât wrong. That was how Bakugou was, hiding what he truly felt because he didnât wanna seem weak or vulnerable.
You continued looking at books, until you were ready to go. You decide to go look for Bakugou to inform him and when you find him, heâs helping a little boy get a book from a high shelf and this causes you to smile. This is the side that you loved seeing of his and wished he showed it more, not that you would admit it, but you knew there were layers to him.
When he noticed you standing there, he started blushing really hard.
âI-I wasnât just gonna watch him struggle. He needed help,â he says somewhat defensively
You just softly smiled at him.
âSince weâre finished, do you guys wanna head to the arcade,â you say. Bit of the boys agreed and the gears started turning in Bakugouâs head. He was gonna show you that he was better than your boyfriend and when he beat him in whatever you decided to play, you would see that.
First you decide you wanna do Mario Kart, you each take a seat and Bakugou makes sure to win first place, getting the most tickets. Then you play skee ball and the same goes. Bakugou even used his quirk on the ball sometimes to give it extra power.
Again he wins, collecting the most tickets.
You all start walking around to see if thereâs any other games and your eyes land on a claw machine. You mention how cute one of the stuffed animals was, which caught Bakugouâs attention. He stops at the machine and tries to win you the stuffed animal. You didnât know that he stopped.
You and your boyfriend walked around the whole arcade and didnât see any other games you wanted to try. You noticed Bakugou was being quiet, too quiet. Thatâs when you turned around and noticed that he was no longer behind you. You decided to walk back the way you came and saw him by the machine. He was holding the stuffed animal you said you wanted.
You smile at him blushing, flattered that he went through the trouble of getting the plushie for you. Especially, since you know he hates the claw machine.
âHere y/n,â he says handing it to you, looking at the side blushing
âThanks Bakugou,â you say accepting it
âYeah, yeah. Take my tickets too. Use âem at the gift shop, I donât want âem. Iâll wait for you guys outside.â
You cash out all the tickets and make your way outside where Bakugou is waiting and head back to the dorms at UA.
Once back at the school, you say goodbye to your boyfriend and head inside with Bakugou. He walks you to your room and heâs about to walk away, but you stop him.
âThanks for coming with me today. Iâm glad you had fun too.â
âYeah, whatever. Itâs nothing. Good night.â
âGood night, Bakugou,â you say, then give him a peck on the cheek
He heads to his room and once there plops on his bed. He closes his eyes and smiles.
Kirishima
You and Kirishima has both gone home together over the weekend and since you live near each other, both agreed to head to school together come Monday morning.
He meets you at your house early and you both eat breakfast together. Once finished, he helps you wash dishes and you both head out to go to school.
As youâre walking, you notice your boyfriend walking ahead of you both and decide to call out to him. You run over and hug him and he lifts you up and spins around with you in his arms.
âHey, you headed back to UA,â he asks
âYeah, this is Kirishima by the way,â you say introducing him
âWoah, nice to finally meet you. Iâve heard so much about you. Iâm Y/Nâs boyfriend.â
He was taken aback by the word boyfriend, as youâve never told him you had one. He puts on his big smile anyways.
âNice to meet you too bro!â
You all take the walk together and he leaves when youâre halfway to UA, since he goes to another school.
âHeâs really nice. Iâm glad he makes you happy,â he says, not really giving you eye contact
âYeah, heâs the best. We do have our moments, but Iâm happy to be his girlfriend.â
Once you enter UA, you run over to Mina with a huge smile.
âBe right back Kiri,â you say while heading over
Just then Kaminari puts his hand on Kirishimaâs shoulder.
âDude, just tell her already,â he says to Kirishima
âI canât,â he says sadly
âAnd why not? Youâve had a crush on her basically since you met her. Why not just come clean?â
âShe has a boyfriend...and sheâs happy,â he says looking over at Kaminari (like in the gif)
âAre you ever gonna tell her,â he asks
âMaybe one day,â Kirishima says with a big smile,âbut for now, Iâll just be there for her as her friend. It wouldnât be very manly of me to try to steal her away.â
âI can respect that,â Kaminari said
You make your way back over to Kirishima and notice Kaminari is there. You say your hellos and then proceed to take your seat next to Kiri. You smile at him and turn your head to the front of the class.
âOne day...â he thinks to himself

(We discussed this a lot in the discord, so props to the gang for this. A group effort, it was. Here are my musings about that Hocus Pocus AU. Tagging @ihni and @pondermoniums just uh,,, cuz yâall were interested in this kinda thing đ)
So obviously Billy is Max and Max is Dani (lol). Like, obviously.
And theyâve moved and Billy is just over it because this town is boring, these people are boring, and who takes Halloween this seriously anymore besides fucking nerds and kids? A whole town being into it? Like, what fucking even.
And witches??? Really??? Fucking please. Billy knows thereâs no such thing. Knows that these people are just whirled up in some sort of town wide fantasy. And he definitely says as much. Gets in trouble for it, too. But, it does get someone to notice him.
The only thing Billyâs even remotely enjoyed in this town is Steve Harrington. Rich prep boy with really soft looking hair and big eyes that Billy just wants to stare into for ages and long fingers and that pale skin. Steve is snickering as Billy gets his talking to, rolling his eyes with a smile when Billy shoots him a wink.
Billy leaves on Halloween ready to hole up at home and ignore everyone and everything, especially his annoying brat of a sister. Of course, on the way home, he runs into Tommy and Adam. (Tommy is ICE, I donât make the rules.) And theyâre all Hey, California, nice jacket/earring/etc. Billy barely entertains it, considers popping Tommy in the jaw, but instead he just skates home. Goes up to his room and flops onto the bed.
âSteve,â he murmurs. âSteve Harrington with the delicious peach.â Billy sighs, dragging his hands over his face. âAnd what a peachâŠâ
âBoo!â Max jumps outta his closet and Billy jack knifes on the bed before jerking up, red faced.
âMAX! I told you not to come in my fucking room!â
âYeah, whatever. Mom said you have to take me trick or treating.â Billy scoffs.
âNo fucking way.â
âSheâs going to a party hosted by the mayor--â
âDonât care--â
â--And she doesnât want me to go alone, even though I could--â
âStill donât care--â
â--And I need someone to carry my haul--â
âHow is this my problem?â And Max snaps her mouth shut, glaring, before opening her mouth and,
âMOM!â
(Susan moved Billy and Max here to get away from Neil and thatâs that on that mmkay)
Needless to say, Billy has a hoodie under his jacket with the hood pulled up because he cannot be seen carting his sister around to trick or treat. How lame. Gets shit from Tommy and Adam, who try to steal Maxâs candy, but get a broom to the crotch. Max ainât playing around, and while she doesnât need Billy to protect her, he kinda canât help it. Pops one of âem in the eye and bolts, Max cackling as she follows him. And they keep on going, Billyâs hood down now at least, before getting to this massive house with a party. And Max knocks and Billy stands behind her, staring off, when suddenly,
âWell, if it isnât Mr. I-Hate-Halloween.â And Billyâs head whips around and Steve is there in some fancy ass Victorian garb all ruffles and coiffed hair and tight fucking breeches--
âHarrington, right?â Cuz Billyâs gotta play it casual. Gotta be cool. And Max raises a brow, smirking, as Steve hands her a lollipop and stands there, biting his lip before asking,
âWanna come in for a bit? This party is fucking boring.â And Billy isnât gonna look a gift horse in the mouth. Max frowns.
âBut--â
âIâll let you take as much candy as you want,â Steve offers, face only lightly flushed. Max shoots in the house, grabbing fistfuls from the frankly enormous bowl of candy. Billy steps in, hands in his pockets. He looks around giving a low whistle.
âWell well, Harrington,â Billy says. âFancy ass home youâve got here.â
âI mean-- Itâs my parentsâ place. Technically.â Steve scratches his nose and Max comes over. âThatâs a pretty dope witch costume.â
âThanks,â she replies. âI like yours. Billy likes, now wait,â she hums, licking the lollipop, âWhat did you call it? His peach?â And Billy goes red, hissing,
âMaxine!â Whilst Steve is confused as hell. Max presses on.
âBilly really likes--â
âSo, you all really believe in the Sanderson sisters?â Billy says, loud and over Max, who kicks him in the shin while he shoves at her to move away. Steve just kinda⊠goes with the flow of these two.
âI mean, yeah. Iâve been to the museum loads of times, and that book of spells is legitimately the creepiest thing Iâve ever seen.â Steve shuffles a little, glances into the ballroom, before seemingly making up his mind. âYou wanna go?â Billy raises a brow.
âYou thinking about breaking in, pretty boy?â His tongue pokes from between his teeth as he grins, ignoring Max rolling her eyes.
âIs it breaking in if I have a key?â Steve smirks. âMy parents technically own it, soâŠâ He shrugs and Billy smiles so he doesnât do something stupid like say something mushy in front of Max.
âWell, grab that key then, Richie Rich.â And Steve grumbles itâs my parentsâ money, jeez before going upstairs.
âIâll be back in a jiffy.â And once he disappears Max elbows Billy in the gut.
âWhat the hell, shithead?â Billy hisses.
âYouâre so fucking obvious,â she says with a grin. âPretty boy? Like, come on.â And Billy ignores her, thank you.
So they go, and Billy and Steve are flirting almost obnoxiously, and Max is so over it, but when they get to the house, they all kinda feel the weird energy. Billy of course, keeps trying to play it off. Keeps being a little shit. Asks if he should light the candle.
âCome on,â he leers. âNot like anythingâll happen.â
âI dunno,â Steve replies, biting his lip.
âYouâre so gonna summon them, Billy. Youâre a virgin.â And wow Max, no need to call him out like that. And Billy goes red before flicking open his zippo and lighting the candle.
Which. Bad idea.
(Now, you can imagine the sisters the same, or as Joyce (Winnie), Karen (Sarah), and Claudia (Mary). Which ever speaks the most to you. Cuz then Zombie Billy could be Hopper. Or Bob if you want I suppose. Iâm going with keeping them the same for now cuz Iâm a lazy bastard.
Thackery and Emily are Jonathan and Will, I donât make the rules.)
ANYWAY
The rest pretty much goes the same, with a lot more teasing between Steve and Billy. And Max being so over these boys. Jonathan is too, honestly, and heâs constantly swiping at Billy to get him to stop being an asshole. Steve thinks itâs cute. Billy does not.
No one listens to Billy cuz, well, he looks like a delinquent whose gonna make jokes. Steveâs parents ignore him, and everyone knows it, so obviously heâs probably doing it for attention. And well, Susan is having fun getting to know a lovely and kind man at the party (maybe this is Bob), so sheâs just a lilâ distracted.
When they get to the graveyard, and Sarah tries to flirt with Billy, tries to coerce him into giving them his life force, Steve chucks some rocks, furious and jealous, like the brat he is. Says,
âYouâre barking up the wrong tree, Witch Bitch!â And Billyâs already infatuated, but now heâs in love. Steveâs got that spark, that fire, and Billy kinda maybe likes a guy who can hold his own. Billy deals with Winnie, Steve and Max deal with the other two.
At the end, once Zombie Billyâs back in his grave, the witches are gone, kaput, and Jonathan has reunited with will, Steve, Billy, and Max find themselves on a bench, exhausted. And Max maybe says,
âIâm ready to go home. Steve, wanna come for breakfast?â And well, itâs not like his parents are gonna be up anytime soon, or will notice him being gone at all, so he says yes. âAwesome. Billy makes really good pancakes. Plus, even though we donât have a guest room, Iâm sure Billy will let you take his bed.â
âMaxine!â
Or well,,,, something like that.

The Other Side - Swapped!Six Songfic
This is actually a Christmas gift for someone!!! @percy-the-penguin gave me the idea and @arithebroadwayaddict drew the picture that sparked the idea! So this a Christmas gift for the both of them!
Tws: arson
Italics = both
Swapped = last name
ââââââââââ
Boleyn wanted to be anywhere else.
She wanted to be with Lady Aragon more specifically. The golden queen herself was across the room, talking to both of their counterparts, Catalina and Anne.
Boleyn sighed wistfully as she stared at Aragon and the locked hands of their counterparts. Aragon herself was in a beautiful gold dress that made Boleyn blush.
Boleyn herself was in a green suit and black pants, complete with a green tie and her familiar glasses.
They were dressed this well for the party they were currently attending. All six original queens had been invited and given plus ones, allowing them to bring the swapped queens as well.
Boleyn was about to try and make her way over when an elbow pressed into her side, making her flinch and turn to the intruder with a glare.
Thatâs right⊠Boleyn was over here to keep an eye on Seymour. She couldnât go over to Aragon in the first place.
âYour gay is showing.â Seymour gave her a smirk. The blond queen with a black stripe of hair was dressed in a white button up with a black bow tie and pants along with suspenders. Her familiar âSâ charmed choker sat on her neck, covering a familiar scar.
Boleyn rolled her eyes, adjusting her glasses. âLike youâre any better with Parr⊠cretin.â
Seymour spluttered for a moment before giving her a smirk. âYeah, whatever. Youâre my babysitter or whatever, right? Iâm going to the balcony.â
Boleyn grumbled and gave one more longing look to Aragon before trailing after Seymour, arms crossed.
The balcony was bare of people. And it was only when they stepped out that Boleyn realized that Seymour was holding a large pile of napkins, which she promptly placed on the ground on the center of the balcony.
âSeymourâŠâ Boleyn said warningly when the beheaded queen pulled out a lighter.
Seymour groaned, flicking her signature lighter. âCome on, Bo-loser! I need to relax a bit!â
âYou can do that without arson.â Boleyn grumbled, eyes narrowed.
Seymour studied her for a moment. âDonât you ever wanna go apeshit miss uptight? Your counterpart does!â
Boleyn sighed. âIâve told you before, nuisance. We are not our counterparts, in personality at any rate. Itâs allâ!â
Seymour waved her off. âTimeline bullshit, yeah I know. Other me is basically their fucking mom. Just let me light this shit up!â
âNo.â
A beat of music started from inside and Seymour grinned widely, taking a step towards Boleyn. The beat paused for a moment. Seymour flicked her lighter, followed by Boleyn pushing her glasses up.
âRight here, right now. I put the offer out!â Seymour began to sing, causing Boleyn to roll her eyes.
âI donât want to chase you down! I know you see it.â Seymour gave a wicked grin as she placed a hand on Boleynâs shoulder. It was quickly brushed off.
Seymour didnât seem bothered. âYou run with me, and I can cut you free!â She grabbed a napkin, lighting the edge on fire.
Only to drop it and stomp it out under Boleynâs stone gaze. âOut of the drudgery and walls you keep in!â
Seymour reached up quickly to tug Boleynâs tie from itâs neat, tucked position. âSo trade that typical, for something colorful!â Boleyn hissed and quickly moved to fix it.
Seymour didnât seem to notice Boleynâs gaze as she snapped one of her suspenders and flicked the lighter again. âAnd if itâs crazy then live a little crazy!â
Seymour stepped back, spreading her arms. âYou can play it sensible, queen of conventionalâŠâ She flicked the lighter wide, letting the flame shine. âOr you can risk it all and see!â
Seymour was quickly moving to set the napkins on fire and Boleyn lunged for her. âDonât you wanna get away from the same old, part you gotta play?!â
âCause Iâve got what you need, so come with me and take the ride, itâll take you to the other side!â Seymour laughed between her singing as she kept back, pulling the lighter away from Boleyn.
âCause you can do like you do, or you can do like me!â Seymour danced away from Boleyn.
âStay in the cage or youâll finally take the key!â She closed her eyes and held the lighter up into the air.
âOh, damn!â Seymour glared as Anne finally took the lighter from her hand. âSuddenly youâre free to fly! Itâll take you to the other side!â
Boleyn snorted, holding the lighter away from Seymour. Other side? A world of burning items to escape pain? She didnât need that. (She would forever deny how appealing the idea felt.)
âOkay, my friend⊠you wanna cut me in?â Boleyn sang in a huff. Seymour growled, trying to take the lighter back again.
Boleyn simply pulled it to her chest, giving Seymour a glare. âWell I hate to tell you but it just wonât happen.â
Boleyn turned away from her, she counted her steps, stopping at six and not turning back to meet Seymourâs eyes. âSo thanks, but no. I think Iâm good to go, I quite enjoy the life you say Iâm trapped in!â
She spun on heel now to stare Seymour in the eye. âNow, I donât hate you and that whole show we do. Weâre onto something, really itâs something!â Seymour burst out a mocking laugh at the lines.
Boleyn flicked the lighter, staring at the flame for a long moment. âBut I like to think Iâm sane, not burning away my pain.â
Boleyn tilted her head, giving Seymour a challenging glare. âIâll have to leave that up to you!â
Boleyn walked up to Seymour, pointing a finger at her chest. âDonât you know that Iâm okay? With this uptown part I get to play!â Seymour didnât back down.
Boleyn let out a bitter laugh, gaze turning to the sky as a tear fell down her cheek. âBecause Iâve got what I need and I donât want to take the ride! I donât need to see the other side!â
âSo go and do like you do, Iâm good to do like me!â Boleyn dropped the lighter back into Seymourâs hand, earning her a raised eyebrow.
âAinât in a cage, so I donât need to take some key!â Boleyn walked back to the doors leading inside, giving Seymour a wave over her shoulder.
âOh, damn! Canât you see Iâm doing fine?!â Boleyn couldnât help but practically snarl as she reached forward to rest her hands on the door handle. âI donât need to see your other sideâŠâ
Seymour huffed, keeping her gaze on Boleynâs back as the music slowed. âNow is this really how youâd like to spend your days? Whiskey and misery⊠books and your brain?â
Boleyn let out a bitter laugh at that. âIf I got mixed up with you, Iâd be the talk of the house. Disgraced and irrational, another one of you clowns!â
Seymour smirked knowingly. âBut you would finally live a little, finally laugh a little⊠just let me give you the freedom to dream and itâll wake you up and cure your aching.â Seymour noticed Boleyn glancing back over her shoulder and flicked the lighter open, letting the little flame dance to life. âTake your walls and start âem breaking! Now⊠thatâs a deal that seems worth takingâŠâ Seymour shrugged, half turning back to the pile of napkins. âBut I guess Iâll leave that up to youâŠâ
Boleyn turned around fully, giving Seymour a calculating stare as she adjusted her glasses. âWell itâs intriguing⊠but to do this they could call me crazy. So what would I get out of your fire making?â
Seymourâs grin widened. Boleyn was considering this? âFair enough, you wouldnât want to be one of us cretins! You could get excitement, we can strike a fuse and make it happen!â
âI wasnât born this morning! Danger is just waiting to happen!â
âThen why not just go ahead and walk inside?â Seymour asked challengingly. âYou want some happiness, donât deny!â
âCraziness!â
âIâd say control!â
âInsane!â
âMaybe jailâŠâ
âEscape.â Both of them froze, staring at each other for a long moment as the music died off before coming back.
Seymour grinned and Boleyn let out a hum as she walked away from the door, curiosity in her eyes.
Both of them began to sing together as Seymour held out the lighter and napkin. Boleyn took them and set the napkin on fire quickly as the music burst to life again.
âDonât you wanna get away to a whole new part youâre gonna play!â Boleyn threw the napkin onto the rest and Seymour grinned widely in anticipation.
âCause I got what you need, so come with me and take the ride!â Seymour sang out, throwing one arm around Boleyn and gesturing the other to the fire they had made.
âTo the other side!â Boleyn stared at the fire, captivated as the other napkins quickly caught ablaze.
âSo if you do like I do, so if you do like me!â Seymour chuckled at the stare on Boleynâs face.
âForget the cage, because we know how to make the key!â Both sang together. Realization sparked in Boleynâs eyes and she was swiftly unbuttoning and shrugging her blazer off.
âOh, damn!â Seymour took the offered blazer eagerly. âSuddenly weâre free to fly!â
âWeâre going to the other side!â The blazer was thrown in the fire, only making it grow bigger.
âSo if you do like I do!â No one inside seemed to notice the fire burning bright out on the balcony.
âTo the other side!â
âSo if you do like me!â
âWeâre going to the other side!â
âCause if we do weâre going to the other side!â
âWeâre going to the other side!â Both of them finished as the music came to an abrupt stop. They watched the fire that crackled in front of them, enthralled.
Seymour spoke after a long moment. âDoesnât it feel good?â
Boleyn let out a deep breath. âYes⊠it feelsâŠâ she trailed off.
Seymour smirked knowingly. âLike youâre in control? Like you're more powerful than he ever was?â
â... yes.â
They continued to stare long after it burned out...

ÎαÏαÎșηλÎÏ (ÎœÎżÏÏαλγία deleted scene)
ÎœÎżÏÏαλγία Masterlist
ÎαÏαÎșηλÎÏ: to charm, cast a spell over (Ancient Greek)
Pairing: Ivar/Reader, Narses/Reader but you know how that is
Summary: This is a deleted scene that happens between chapter 16 and 17, it centers mainly around Narses.
Word Count: 3.6k
Warnings: The usual, plus a graphic depiction of burning alive (or my best attempt at writing it anyways)
A/N: Yeah idk what to say here lol, I put this together mainly bc @xbellaxcarolinaxâ made a point of there being little Narses on the story, and bc she was interested in a chapter more centered around him. I write a lot of rambles that I donât post cause I donât think people wanna read âem, but here it is one of em, in deleted-scene form lol. Hope you like it, and thank you! <3
Also yes I have Michiel Huisman as Daario in my head as a faceclaim for Narses, idk what to tell ya, I suck at describing characters so of course you had no way of knowing that, and Iâm sorry.
Taglist: (Iâm sorry if you donât wanna be tagged in these kind of chapters btw, just lemme know and Iâll keep you on the main story ones only, or just the main story and Ivar PoV ones, whatever works for you) @youbloodymadgenius @heavenly1927 @toe-vind-ek-jou @xbellaxcarolinax @pieces-by-me @angelofthorr @samsationalwilsonâ
âIt scares you, doesnât it?â Freydis starts suddenly one night, and you lift your eyes to her but donât say anything. So, she continues, âThe reminder of what you could do.â
âIf you mean-âŠâ
âYou know what I mean. You could lie, and I keep wondering why you donât.â
âLying is what you would do, is it not?â You snap, head tilted to the side.
The blondeâs smile turns smug, as if she just made you give away a card. Instead of saying anything regarding that, she shrugs,
âYou have traveled a lot, lived a lot,â She states, moving carefully and taking a seat next to you, seemingly choosing to ignore your eyes following her. âWill you tell me you are unaware of what men are able and willing to do for a womanâs love?
She stops whatever it is she was going to say next when an elderly woman enters the apothecary, her blue eyes following the womanâs moves. You are reminded of that night when she shared her thoughts by a window and was interrupted -eyes and ears follow the witch-, and realize why she holds her tongue.
Instead of waiting for the other woman to leave, she stands up and asks you to follow with but a gesture of her head.
Certain steps take you both to the same elevated patch of cold and foreign grass that saw you lay on your knees and pray to whatever Gods heard you to give you an answer.
And so, Freydis continues on,
âLook at all Ivar did to get you to be at his side. Imagine what he would do with the promise you could love him,â Manic blue eyes meet yours as Freydis stops you with a hand on your arm. You pointedly look down at it and back up at her face, feeling a tightness in your chest, dread mixed with disdain. âImagine what he would do if you pretended to love him and threatened to take it away.â
Thereâs only one answer you can give her.
âGet your hand off me.â
If you were your mother, youâd have a sword in your hands and a snarl on your lips. But you never wanted to fight like a man, and so you only let the cold of this land seep into your voice and harden your expression, your voice.
She remains frozen for a few moments too long, and you once again pointedly look at her hand and back into her eyes.
âI donât like repeating myself,â You state, and only then does she comply, her eyes searching yours. You return your arm to be comfortable covered by the warm cloak, and turn to keep walking. âI do not want to hear another word of this, you hear me? Not another damned word.â
âDoes that mean youâve given up? Youâll let him keep you here?â
âI said not another word.â
Freydis swallows whatever her words are to be next, and nods her head, accepting your order as if she thinks you gave her a choice.
After a few moments of uncomfortable silence, Freydis speaks again.
âYou choose to protect him now, is that it?â
Her dainty and delicate voice loses none of the edge and the certainty, even as her eyes betray something more human.
âYou are a smart woman,â You concede instead of answering her questions, and tilt your head to the side, âBut a smarter one would know when to hold her tongue.â
âYou donât hold yours.â
âI never claimed to be smart,â You reply easily, before bowing your head in goodbye. âGoodnight, Freydis.â
She knows it is a dismissal, and a rude one at that, but she only returns the gesture. You could swear a strange sort of pride shines in the girlâs dark blue eyes as she takes her leave.
____
And now you sit alone overlooking that same cliff and you cannot get her words out of your head. You wish you could hate her, berate her for her games and call her names, say she is nothing but a liar, a whore.
But it is not so simple, is it? You seduced a man into giving you his army, did it so well Freydis trusted you to seek Freyjaâs favor and do the same with the King, knew you had what it took with only but a look at you.
You promised your love to Narses only for the faint possibility that he could drive the Byzantine Christians off your lands, that he could bend his army and his strength to your will and give you the kingdom you deserved.
And you did to Narses everything that Freydis would have done to Ivar. You kissed, lied, and promised yourself; for the sake of a game.
Because when all you are told you can be is a warm pair of legs to wrap around a man, a pretty little jewel for him to keep and parade around, a quiet and beautiful maiden to stand beneath who the Gods deem you belong to; you learn to play games, all women do.
You wrap your legs tight enough he begs for mercy trying to escape your spell, you show them how even jewels draw blood if squeezed too tight in a foolâs hand, you let beauty carry you near him and your voice be a whisper as it reaches his ear. You play games.
But, as you sit on the cold grass overlooking Kattegatâs horizon, the sea and the sky meeting far away and reminding you strikingly of dusks and dawns spent on that temple overlooking the ocean and awaiting for those ships; you think about how no women speak of what happens when the game ends.
Because it always ends. It is a world of change, after all, a world of wheels turning and of days and nights and of seasons unending. It goes on and on, and the world changes, the games end.
Maybe you donât hear women speak of what happens when it ends because few survive it. Those that do, maybe, just like you, refuse to speak of it, refuse to give voice to the pain and the shame that comes after playing with a heart not your own.
Refuse to admit the regret.
âYouâll do it?â He asks, eyes shining, âYouâll be my wife?â
âI would love to marry you,â You lie, you lie, you lie; and it burns your heart, âBut I donât want to bring our children into a world that will push them into the dirt for the Gods they follow, Narses.â
And just like that, promises, vows, oaths, fall from his perfect lips like he cannot help it. And you believe him, because if you hold your breath and dive past the smoke into the memories of your past, you can recognize that the way Narses looks at you now is the same way your father used to look at your mother.
You remember Sieghildâs teachings about Freyja, about her ways of persuasion and seduction, and wonder if, even if you are foreign to her, the Goddess looks over you. You wonder if she would smile or frown at your games.
You fall down on the grass, keeping your hold on Narsesâ hands to tug him down with you. Narses falls with a laugh, legs and arms holding him up above you, dark green eyes shining as they look down upon yours.
It is remarkably easy, to surrender to his kiss. You close your eyes, letting your fingers go up into his hair, and allowing your lips and tongue to dance with his.
When his impatient lips move down to your jaw, your neck; you let him, craning your head back so he can have more access to your skin. If you clear your mind, you can almost feel nothing but pleasure.
When you tug particularly hard on his hair as Narses bites at your collarbone, you feel a breathed laugh leave his nose.
Lifting himself up in strong arms on each side of your head, Narses looks down upon you. His words should not hurt like they do by now, as you are so familiar with them you know what they will be before he even opens his mouth.
He steals another quick kiss, and whispers, âI love you.â
As a lover, as his future wife.
You smile through the pain, and answer, âI love you.â
As a friend, as the protector of your people.
As an instrument of war.
You are reminded of the safety of Narsesâ embrace, however suffocating; and you can almost taste your name on his lips, bloodied as they were the last time you saw him alive.
âYou are in the Elysian Fields, I know,â You start telling the wind, hoping it can carry your words to him, âOr maybe these Varangiansâ Gods are fighting with ours to take you with them to Valhalla. Either way, I hope you can hear my voice one last time, my friend.â
You laugh brokenly to yourself, lowering your gaze to the grass under your body, caressing the dark tresses of nature.
âI know I donât make much sense, I-I never did to you. Ramblings about Fate and empires fallen and tales of Gods and heroes; things that you had no interest in hearing. And yet you still looked upon me like somethingâŠsomething out of a dream, Narses,â You tell him, pain clawing at your heart, reopening wounds you thought you closed long ago. You smile sadly still, and reminisce, âYou used to tell me I was your dream, andâŠI wish I could tell you that you were mine, I truly do. But I canât.â
And regret fills you, the useless and heartbreaking gift of hindsight showing you that the path you took led only to pain and war. Narses was sent by your choices, by your games, by your mistakes, to die; and youâŠyou were sent here. To what?
You dare think not even the Gods have an answer to your present, or future. But you do have answers to your past, and if someone deserves to hear them, it is Narses, wherever he may be.
âReturning to Eleusis choked me with the smoke of all the fires lit before I left and during my time away. IâŠblinded myself with ambition and I thought the only way I could fight was through you,â You explain, honestly, brokenly, the only way you know how to, âI knew that if I had the heart of Thebesâ Strategus, I could get what I wanted. I just had to have enough guile, enough lies, enough poison; to trick you into giving me your heart.
You offer the wind a hollow chuckle, bitter and angry and oh so filled with regret you can feel your heart poisoned with it.
âAnd I did exactly that. Maybe Aphrodite and Peitho blessed my lies, maybe Sieghild was right and Freyja watched over me,â You look over Kattegatâs horizon, facing the truths of your past when you donât know what you want out of your future, âEither way, I used you, I hated myself but I still did it andâŠI got what I wanted.
As the agony of the flames crawls over your legs, scorching your skin with the inferno, blinding your eyes with the smoke, flogging your throat with your screams; you turn your gaze to the sky, blackened and barren as it is, and plead the Gods you have fought and bled for to grant you a moment of mercy, a painless death.
And flesh being charred smells awful, making your poisoned lungs heave for unattainable retrieve. You hold a moment of clarity in your mind to beg for Sieghildâs forgiveness, that you left her in this world alone after she sacrificed so much for you. You hope her Gods let you visit her in Folkvangr.
With one last ragged and angry scream, you let your strength leave you, your agony leave you, your regrets leave you.
When you awaken you find yourself in too much pain to accept this is the Underworld. Before you open your eyes, a moment of panic and dread fills your heart at the thought that the Christians left you alive to torture you, but you hear familiar voices, smell familiar fragrances.
Sieghildâs hand over your forehead, gentle and loving in ways she rarely is, makes a small smile tug at your dried and bleeding lips.
âI know you are awake, open your eyes,â She chastises, gruff even when relief clogs her voice. You do, and her smiling inked face settles your quickly beating heart, makes you forget the pain for a moment. âI love you, you stubborn child.â
You allow yourself a smile, closing your eyes again and focusing on breathing for a few moments, before whispering, âI love you too, minn móðir.â
The shieldmaiden chuckles brokenly, pressing rough lips on the crown of your head. After a few moments of silence, she sighs.
âBy the way, you mad woman, you did it.â
âDid what?â You ask raggedly, wincing as you lift your head to accept the cup of water she offers.
âListen, little one,â She instructs, and when you do, you hear the rustling of armor plates, the heavy steps of soldiers outside your door. The Viking woman shakes her head in almost disbelief, âThe Strategos, that boy, he saved you from the flames.â
âNarses?â
âHis soldiers came with us, we have nearly a thousand men here.â
âI did so many things wrong, Narses. I lied and manipulated and pretended, and maybe because the Gods are cruel, or maybe because reaping what you sow is an empty promise; I succeeded, and I got what I wanted. I knew I wouldnât win, not against the Empire, not against the Christians, butâŠI wanted them to remember me, to remember our names and our Gods and our ways. To remember we donât die silently.
And even if it hurts, you admit to yourself that you would do it again. You wish you could have loved Narses the way he deserved, you wish you could have been honest, you wish you could have found other ways to fight for your kingdom; butâŠyou understand why you did it, and feeble and useless as it is, you want to forgive yourself for it.
Where there is war there can never be love, right? And you wanted war, you will not lie to yourself and say you truly wanted peace all along.
No, you wanted to see those Christians that came to take your home bleed at your feet, you wanted Attica to be free again, and Laconia, and Macedonia, and Arcadia, and many others. And you would wage war for your freedom for a thousand years if needed.
You would promise Narses your hand again if it came to it. You know you would, because the person you were when Attica was yoursâŠshe would have done that and much more for a chance at freedom. Now, you know better. Now, you let yourself be softer. Now, the world is a lot bigger than it seemed back then.
Now, things are different. Maybe you are, maybe the world is, maybe your heart is. Maybe Ivar is.
You smile at the barren horizon that doesnât seem so foreign and intimidating now, and whisper, âI could do it now, I know. I would end up dead when he knew the truth, thatâs for certain, but the victory would be mine, our peopleâs, by the time Ivar could catch up with my lies. I could, Narses.
âWe need Stithulfâs support. We will ally with him, and even if you scream and fight it is what will happen.â
But you are shaking your head before he even finishes speaking.
âAs Anassa of Attica I ca-âŠâ
âAs the commander of your forces, as the man youâll marry, Iâm telling y-âŠâ
The hostility, the command, in his tone startle you to attention, and you narrow your eyes as you step closer. You donât reach his shoulder, but the years have taught you thereâs few things a man fears more than a woman that refuses to fight like a man but still fights.
âIf you try using that to silence me, I fear you will not live long as my husband.â The threat drips from your lips like wine, but Narses doesnât cave for once, and he drags a hand over his face.
âYou always fight me, why do youâŠwhy canât you beâŠ?â His words die in a sigh, and you lift your eyebrows.
âWhy canât I be someone Iâm not? Would you love me if I were anything other than me?â
âSometimes, I wish you were,â He sentences, a hand over his eyes as he grunts out the words. Your heart drops, and so does your guard. He sighs again, and a hand reaches up and cups your cheek, unaware your whole body tightens to a coil the moment he touches you. âSometimes, I fool myself into thinking I still see the woman you once were in you. The woman that wanted a life surrounded by Eleusisâ warmth, the woman that cared not for war, for vengeance.â
You grit your teeth, and step back, closing your eyes tightly as you croak,
âThat woman was never all I was. I wanted Eleusis, I still do, but that doesnât mean I never wanted revenge, Narses. Those Christia-âŠâ
When you feel he finally drops his hand from your cheek, you open your eyes and watch his hand clench into a fist.
âWhy do I have to love a woman like you?â He hisses, turning his back to you and slamming both hands on the weak table in front of him. âIâve asked the Gods why, you know. Why I have to love a woman arrogant and ambitious andâŠHera help me, a woman that is not mine. Never was, never will be.â
âI-âŠWhat are you saying?â
âDo you think Iâm enough of a fool to think I can make you my wife? If the Fates donât stop me you will,â A humorless chuckle leaves his lips, âLord Hades might split open the earth and drag you to the Underworld before I get to call you my wife.â
âDonât say those things.â
âIt is true! I was not Fated to have you, even if the Gods know I was Fated to love you,â He shakes his head, teeth gritted and eyes failing to meet yours, âWe both know what made you say yes to me, and it is what is keeping you from saying yes to Stithulf. It was never love.â
Shame chokes you, keeps the next words form leaving your lips. Your lips tremble and your eyes cloud with tears as you look at his tense back, nothing but regrets shining in your eyes.
âAre you-âŠwill you l-leave?â
Will you leave me? Is the question you dare not ask, because you do not have the right to believe he should want to stay at your side, not after everything.
You still donât want him to leave you alone here.
But the Thebesian takes a deep breath, straightening his back again and turning to you. The same anguished softness you saw so many times in his eyes still shines in them now, and he shakes his head.
His voice when he replies feels like warmth, like safety and nostalgia,
âI will always be at your side. Until Hades summons you home, Iâll be at your side.â
You look into his warm eyes, and with shame still burning your chest, you ask,
âWhy? The Gods know I do not deserve it. Why do you stay?â
The answer leaves his lips with the same certainty it always did, with the same hope and the same truth,
âI love you.â
You like to believe you would have loved Narses, you like to believe you would have been content remaining as Eleusisâ Priestess. You like to believe you could have birthed him children for you to teach the way of the Gods and he to give the fame of his family.
Problem is, you fear now, with the taste of this strange freedom still fresh and sweet on your tongue, you donât think you could have ever lived with the binds of what Narses wanted to make out of you. A priestess, whose ambition is forgotten when he wills it so; a woman, whose eyes will need to lower from his; a wife, to be quietened when he speaks.
And you donât want that, to be what Narses wanted you to, what Galla wanted you to, what Freydis wants you to, what Ivar wants you to. You want to be you, and you want to fight, and be compassionate and revengeful, and be soft and relentless, without needing to choose one or the other.
You want nights of stupid arguments and infuriating talks, you realize around a broken chuckle, you want foreign languages and even more foreign customs, you wantâŠyou want Ivar. In all his vitriol, in all his bloodthirst, in all his awkward gentleness and in all his armored heart, you want him.
Tears of regret and the path not taken fill your eyes, and you find yourself sobbing out a small laugh, âBut the person that lied and tricked you, that could do the same to IvarâŠshe died amongst the flames, left me in her place, I think.
The Priestess is dead.
Taking the small knife Ivar gifted you what seems like a lifetime ago, you hold a lock of your hair in front of you, and cut off the wind-blown and tangled strands, holding a short tress in your hand that weights like a decade of apologies and promises made.
âIâm sorry. For everything I did and everything I didnât do,â You promise him, closing your eyes and almost seeing his smiling face before you, his eyes shining and his sun-kissed skin weathered around a smile. âIn another life, I may have loved you like you deserved.â
You open your palm, and let the strands of grief be carried off by Kattegatâs winds way across the sea.
And in another world, on another land, a dead man takes a breath.
____
So, hope you liked it, hope that last sentence got you wonderinâ, and hope you have a nice day/night!
Thank you so much for reading, see you Tuesday with the scheduled update: chapter 18 :)

Leech Lord - The writingâs on the wall
Here we go, folks. Heavy time. Big one.
Tonight was just them, happy in the afterglow of laughter and far too much to drink. That calm quiet that falls with trusted company you can be at ease around. It was nice.
She'd assumed he felt the same way from the barely audible whistle of his breathing to her right. Figured that he was relaxing too, enjoying the dull heat of wine numbing his joints and their usual simmering pain. It was good, it felt right, until the peace was interrupted by the clink of his glass as he shifted, and the hoarse, strained whisper of -
" You're gonna leave one day, I know you will. I'll chase you away. You'll get sick of having to deal with me just l-like everyone does."
The groggy cloud behind her eyes dissipated instantly as his threat landed like ice-water, and she clumsily sat forward, wineglass dangling from her loose hand as she stared at him in confused disgust.
" What?... What are you talking about.â
â Don't put that shit on me, Troy. Don't... don't even fucking dare try to drip feed that self hating poison into who I am. God, what is wrong with you? "
He didn't meet her eyes, still staring at the glass in his hands as he hunched in his seat, like he was about to crumble into himself. Looking somehow so much older and so much younger than she knew he was - like a child carrying the weight of the world. He mouthed something, then stopped. Started again, paused again. Reconsidering what he'd been about to say as his brows furrowed and lips tightened into a grimace.
Chasing what he wanted to express to her, grasping at it futilely, trying to find the right words and stumbling. Same self made snare as usual, tightening around his neck. The same trap he always set for himself, triggering as he stepped blindly towards it.
He sunk a little lower into himself as he wilted under her disgust, hair falling forward and blocking the shame burning across his face.
" I... I'm sorry, Sei. "

V: Well when you put it like that it doesn't sound super great, but...yeah.
( silence )Â
S: Who else knows about this?Â
V: Only me, and I ain't about to rat on you. I don't blame you for wanting out, things....well, between you me and the floorboards, things ain't gonna get any better around here.Â
S: ( deep sigh ) Good God...Â
V: Look doll, I ain't here to force you into a decision, and I won't judge you for not leaving. I'm just tellin' you which way the wind's blowing. One friend to another.Â
S: Right.Â
( uncomfortable silence )
V: Well, you think on what I said. I've gotta get home to my brother, it's spaghetti night.Â
S: Try not to let anyone see you on your way out, the last thing i need is more brainless gossip out on my hangar.Â
V: Heh. Not like they caught me on the way in, not exactly the sharpest tools out there. Anyway, nighty night Sei.
( the maglock doors hiss open )
S: And Ven?Â
V: Yeah?Â
S: ...Thanks.Â
V: Don't mention it.Â

Iâm just a bit shook upâŠâ her voice cracks as she mutters. âHe said some stupid shit tonight, bout how everyone leaves him and he knows itâs..â she sighs, letting her head drop to face the table with a weak shrug.
âStupid as in.. it got to me. He ever say anything to you thatâs just.. you know itâs off? I sometimes think itâs me..â
JK waited patiently, wanting to reach out and rest a hand on her shoulder but not quite knowing if that would overstep their tentative friendship as it formed.
ââŠthat Iâm going crazy and feeling things that arenât real, overreactingâŠâ she pauses, swiping her auburn hair back from her forehead, thumbing at her temple as she lets her eyes stare unfocused at the wall behind their shoulder.
JK grunts thoughtfully, then shakes their head a little, their mask tilting downwards as they rumble out a huff of air. âHeâs⊠talking a lot more recently, yeah, bout things no one asked.â
They empty the bottle in a deep dreg, and lower it carefully to the table in front of them, spinning it slowly on its edge. âLike heâs replyinâ to a question that was never said, and heâs pissed about it. Gets snappy at nothinâ. Gets angry at nothinâ. I donât say things, I just listen. He likes when you just listen, I think you know that too.â
She nods, watery eyes looking up at them through her thick eyelashes.
âItâs just, the thingâs heâs saying now, this last year?â JK glances to their side again, towards where Troy sleeps.
They turn back to Seifa and reach out then, touching a finger against her forearm as it rests against the table, happy to see she doesnât flinch away even though sheâs hurt too. Proud that though sheâs struggling to hold back tears that swell along her lash-line, sheâs still listening to them. Really listening, like what JK thinks matters.
âItâs the same kind of things axe-hands I knew in the clan would start to say before theyâd go wrong. Harsh things to themselves, about themselves, about how others were seeing âem. I donât like that kind of talk much either, Iâve seen where it goes. People start doing that and they arenât themselves for much longer. Become the same thing they were worryinâ everyone already saw them as.â
They turn the bottle to its side, idly twirling it with their index finger, only the hollow grind of the glass on the table filling the silence.
âIâve seen him goinâ the same way. Same way they did, and I donât know how to stop it, Iâm not good with..â they gesture at the bone-white mask still marked with that crumbling splash of old rust-red blood, pausing to collect their thoughts. â..Not good with talking the way it would help. Saw him hurt acolytes the last few months. He used to just grab, threatenâŠâ.
Their leg bounces beneath the table, nerves firing haphazardly as they swallow down the frustration lodged between their teeth. âNow he grinds. Cracks their bones in that metal fist. Not enjoyinâ it, not laughinâ, but doinâ it anyway. He smells like bitter antiseptic sometimes, and I think heâs takinâ things out on himself where he figures we wonât know, under the steel.â
âI donât think he is well. Inside him. None of us are here, lady. Weâre all broken a little, but we learn how to live with it. Itâs that or die. He doesnât know how to do it. We gottaâŠâ
â⊠we gotta watch out for our brotherâ.

He'd dare let venom drip about Seifa around them, and Troy knew from the palpable atmosphere change that it wasn't going to be swept under the rug. He would have crumbled, he would have backtracked into sickening apologies, but after the grilling Tyreen had already given him? How helpless and powerless he already felt, child was the straw that broke him.
He span on his heels to face them, spinal implants flaring and eyes all cruel angles and rage. It only took one or two stalking steps for them to be at odds face to face, not that he was sure what he'd do when he got there.
"The fuck was that pal?" He seethed, letting jaw plates click and flicker. They didn't seem intimidated, too full of fury to even care.
"Ungrateful. Fucking. CHILD. She made you, made both of you. Without her, you'd be skag shit right now." They paused to look him up and down before continuing. "Instead of a shit eating skag."
His reaction was instant, flesh hand snapping forward to grab at the decorative chains around their neck he'd gifted them, pulling them close. "You fuckin-" he choked, mind clouded on what to do. He wanted to smash them to bits, he wanted to pull their fucking head off, but he had enough control yet to hesitate.
"If you wanna spar big man, let's go. You know the rules." They spat. They'd set out a few of them a couple of months back, not really thinking it would come to it, more so sharing a part of clan life so he felt included. Clan members could fight out frustrations, as long as it didn't go so far as to lose a body for raids or hunting. No using the prosthetic, no hitting Troys left side, no weapons. That was what they settled on, and now staring him down? They didn't like the idea of fighting him, of fighting any family. Never had. But if he refused to talk and instead was intent to act like this? They could find some satisfaction in landing a hit or two.Â
Mention of that past conversation seemed to snap him out of it, hitting home just how far JK was willing to take this. They didn't care about title or siren status, as far as they where concerned this was a family matter. And as far gone as he was, Troy had no intention of full on brawling with family. He pushed them away as he let go, face burning in shame and frustration as he backed down.Â
"Not worth my fucking time..." he mumbled, storming away and letting a metal fist impact a wall as he went, one final show of force.
They stayed put after he was gone, head tilted back and taking deep breaths as they steadied themself. Seifa...didn't need to know about this. She hardly needed defending and she'd scold them for almost coming to blows over a few nasty words but...They couldn't have just bitten their tongue either.Â
Ven - "I mean boss, have you considered ever actually thinking about what you want?"Â
Troy - "..." Troy - "...Everything. All the time. I want e-everything. Everything. Everything I see, all the time. The way you love Eli, and the way he smiles at you and it's real 'cause he knows how to love, I want that."
Troy - "...I want it, and how Sei puts her arms around all of you and never me but she looks at me and I feel s-something but I donât know how to say it in words, I want that."
Troy - "...I want Jak-Knife and the way their mask a-and their face - both of them are beautiful and better than anything I can pretend I see in a mirror and I want everything all the time, Ven, and I don't even know if it's me that's actually wanting."
Ven - "Right..." Ven - "...Ok bud, so first of all, I'm going to get us some drinks..."

Survey #460
âi let it fall - my heart / and as it fell, you rose to claim itâ
When you were younger, did your mother or father ever let you open a few presents before Christmas or your birthday even arrived? We have a tradition of opening one of the smaller presents on Christmas Eve. If you could receive a 100 dollar gift card for either blouses, pants, dresses, shoes or purses, which would you chose? PANTS. I need new pants BADLY. What is your favorite thing to do after crying? Ex: Sleep, listen to music, have some alone time, talk to someone, etc? It really depends on why I was crying and how hard. Do you think Trump will be assassinated, or will he survive his term? Old survey. I really thought he'd be assassinated more than any other president, honestly. Last time you felt suicidal? A couple weeks ago, but they were only passive thoughts. Last time you had butterflies? Sometime today, thinking about things. Biggest asshole you know? Some relative of my sister's in-laws' is so fucking rude. Literally no one likes him, but because he's family, he comes to events, anyway. Did you ever leave someone because you know youâd hurt them? No. What song did you last listen to? I'm listening to No Resolve's cover of "Set Fire to the Rain" by Adele. I have seriously been into rock/metal covers lately. Ever ridden in a police car? Yes. That's how they transport you from the ER to psych hospitals here. Ever witnessed a murder? JESUS, no. Have you ever lied under oath? No. Have you ever failed a subject before? I failed Algebra I during my last college attempt. Have you ever had a deadly animal as a pet? Noooo. I wouldn't. I want tarantulas, which are venomous (the potency ranging from what side of the world they come from), but even the worst of their venoms isn't fatal. Have you ever kissed someone of the same gender? Yes. Have you ever been in a hot tub before? Yeah. Have you ever been to a movie that sold out? It's possible, idk. What movie last made you too scared to go to sleep? None, I think? When youâre on a laptop, do you hook up a mouse or use the touchpad? I use a mouse. Whatâs your momâs momâs name? Cecelia. Would it be hard seeing someone else kiss the person you like? BOY THAT WOULD SUCK Have you ever been tempted to steal? No. What is the main characterâs name in the book youâre reading? Moonwatcher. Do you have a favorite local band? Who are they? No. Whoâs the last person you saw naked, aside from yourself? Mom, walking to her bedroom after a shower. Whoâs your favorite horror monster/killer? Pyramid Head from the Silent Hill franchise. What kind of music do you prefer to listen to when driving? When I'm driving, no music. I can't focus. Would you ever own a hairless rat, cat or dog? I'd LOVE a sphinx. I doubt I'm ever getting rats or dogs again, but I do think they're cute. Females, anyway. I'm sorry but hairless male animals are just laksdjfk;lajdwkl;wj for obvious reasons. All the people youâve kissed, what did their names start with? J, T, D, S. What did you and your ex fight about most? "The" ex, uhhhh... I don't really know. We didn't fight a lot. Donât you love long hugs? YEAH especially if I'm crying or just in general need comfort. And long kisses? If we're serious and the timing is right, yeah. Have you ever purchased condoms? No. Have you ever gone on vacation with your boyfriend/girlfriend? No previous ones, no. Have you ever trashed your exâs car after an argument? No. Even I wasn't THAT low. Would you leave a note on a car claiming responsibility if you damaged it? Yes. My guilty conscience would eat me alive otherwise. Have you ever used someone's handicapped parking pass to get a parking spot? No, and you're fucking garbage if you have. Are you embarrassed to tell people your job? I'm humiliated to tell people I don't HAVE a job. If you ran over an animal would you keep driving? omfg NO. I would absolutely pull over sobbing, move the animal to the side of the road, and hopefully there will be some wildflowers nearby to rest on it. I'd call whoever picks up roadkill, too. Whereâs the best place to eat a romantic dinner? Take me out to Olive Garden like a basic white bitch & feed me spicy shrimp fritas and u have approximately a 90% chance of getting laid. :eyes emoji: What hobby would you get into if time and money werenât an issue? Ohhhh I know there's one, but I'm blanking. What would be the most amazing adventure to go on? That is like an impossible question. There are so many possible, epic adventures. When people come to you for help, what do they usually want help with? Writing stuff. Has anybody criticized the way your significant other looked like? Yup, in the past. Like shut the fuck up, are you the one dating them???? Have you written or drawn anything for somebody else? I've done this many, many times. Who has impressed you most with what theyâve accomplished? Idk, there's a lot of people I know like that. What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? Fall in love. Nothing matches that feeling to me. What would you rate 10/10? markerplayer What do you hope never changes? My resilience. I never want to give up when something knocks me down. Would you ever have sex with the last person you texted? UM THAT IS MY MOTHER Is there anyone that youâd love to just spill your guts to? Girt. Like. Now. But I'm waiting until I actually see him again. This needs to be said to his face. Where is the person you have feelings at right now? He's maybe asleep or just waking up? I don't actually know his exact hours and I know they alternate, but I think he primarily works the night shift at his job? Are you happy with your relationship status? I'm not anymore. I want to be with ^ like very badly. When did you last cry? What for? Today. I'm terrified of loving someone again in the fear of getting very hurt or plain traumatized again. Do you think youâre wasting your time on the person you love? No. Whenâs the next time youâll kiss someone? I usually hate questions that assume I can see the future, but I can tell you I plan to whenever I see He Who I've Mentioned a Gazillion Times In Today's Survey Spam. Were you ever scared to death of anyone you knew? Or are you currently? My dad, in the past. Not currently. Whatâs the longest youâve been away from home by yourself? If you wanna count hospital stays, like... a month? Have you ever been made fun of, because of what you look like? I've been made fun of online once because of my weight. The insult never left me. Have you ever made fun of others, because of what they look like? No. It's awful. Do you think itâs cute when youâre leaving a place, and a guy says âno hug?â What a dick move. Some people don't like hugs. Do you wear short shorts (if youâre a girl)? I didn't know short shorts were specific to females. Anyway, no. I hate my legs WAY too much. Who are you the most uncomfortable around? My sister's in-laws and her husband. Who has your heart? I'm never giving that to another person again. I've got it. But to answer the general question that's being asked, I've fallen like head over heels for Girt. Should cloning ever be allowed to happen? I think it's pretty... I don't know the right word. It just seems immoral to me? Especially when you start cloning things with an actual conscience. I can see a lot of problems arising from it. Are you impatient with really shy people? Well no, given I'm one of 'em. Does your house have air conditioning throughout, or do you have one that sits in your window? Throughout. What is the most ridiculous band name youâve heard recently? Recently? Idk. Would you ever get a fashion mullet? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO mullets are so ugly alsdkfj;aljdl;jwe Do you believe that Jesus lived and is returning? Isn't it historical, documented fact he was a living person? Even if that is true though, I don't believe in his "miracles." Do you believe in spiritual gifts? No. Do you believe in callings? No. If you were rich, would you get a professional photoshoot done? UM hell yeah. Pls take pictures of me that help me believe I'm even just 0.001% pretty.

Helpless (Pro-hero) Kirishima X reader pt. 2
Warning: Intense fluff That night you laid in bed staring at the ceiling. You began to wonder if (f/n) was right, maybe you should give dating a chance. Experience the ups and downs about being in a relationship, but then again you don't need to rely on someone else to make you happy. Your thoughts kept you awake the majority of the night until you finally crashed around 3 am. The following morning, your friend's voice echoed throughout your house waking you up. You groaned in irritation as you sat up in your bed rubbing around your bed hair. She opened your door looking directly at your bed. âOh good (y/n) Youâre awake! Get dressed, they're going to be there in an hour!â (F/n) pulled your blankets off your body exposing you to the cold. âUp and at emâ we need to get you all pretty for Mr. Riot!â You sighed getting up from your bed walking to your bathroom to wash up. The clothes (F/n) picked out for you were surprisingly not as revealing as you had assumed them to be. You got dressed in a pair of dark blue ripped jeans, a white blouse that tied on the end exposing just a bit of your stomach and a pair of brown knee high boots. You hated to admit it but you looked damn good with a little bit of effort. Styling your hair into a half up-half down look curling the ends. You didn't bother with a whole bunch of makeup, just simple eyeliner and gloss. You came out of the bathroom revealing the clothes. (F/N)âs eyes lit up at the sight of you. âHoly shit (Y/n) you look cute--no not cute. Sexy. If I was a guy Iâd definitely try to fuck you.â (F/N)âs complement was a bit extreme but you knew she meant well. You actually felt confident in the way you looked. But youâd never tell her that cause youâd never hear the end of it. (F/N) pulled out her phone searching something up. âSo from your place its only a 20 minute walk. If we wanna get there earlier than the rest we should head out now.â She grabbed all of your essentials including her own rushing out towards the front door. You followed closely behind her heading towards the mall, evidently by the time you arrived there was around a line wrapping around the building. (F/N) groaned in defeat looking at the time. âThey beat us here?! How, thereâs no way! They must have camped here all night.â You eyed the crowd of girls whose faces were buried in their mirrors as they prepared for the event. The amount of makeup caked up on their skin made yours crawl and itch. (F/N) dragged her feet towards the back of the never ending line, tears about to spill from her eyes. You reached a hand out grabbing her arm catching her attention. You quickly dragged her out of sight towards the back of the back gate. You pulled back the clipped metal ushering your friend inside. âOkay weâre gonna have a serious talk about this later but for now I.FUCKING.LOVE.YOU!â  Laughing to yourself you went through behind her carefully closing it back up to look complete. You brought her to the back door of the wall and it was busy enough at the right moment for you to sneak inside without catching any attention from the patrons. The two of you walked to the event section, it was relatively empty which allowed you to find a place to rest your legs on the indoor fountain. You were surprisingly tired, meaning you used a lot more of your energy than you anticipated.(F/N) took her place next to you staring at you suspiciously. âSo (y/n), we gonna talk about it?â âHm, talk about what?â you answered casually as you people watched. âYou know what! How did you know about that secret passageway?â âOh that, well remember when i was trying to buy that new fighting game? I didn't feel like waiting on the line that day and I discovered it when a bunch of boys cut the wire. Guess they didn't feel like waiting either. So when I saw how sad you were it reminded me of where it was and I snuck us inside.â (F/N) hugged you tightly, practically suffocating you in her chest! âWho's my precious little criminal!â She squealed out. âYou went through with it too, that makes you just as guilty as I am!â you said in a gasped voice. âOh hey I guess youâre right---WHOâS MY PRECIOUS LITTLE PARTNER IN CRIME?â she cooed at you. You rolled your eyes, shrugging her off. You couldn't help but laugh at her nickname for you. âWhat time are they supposed to be here again?â âI think the flyer said between 2 or 3 o'clock, so they should be arriving any moment now--â As if on cue the sound of screaming girls echoed through the halls. You covered your ears watching as a sea of girls flooded the entrance to the mall. You and (F/N) stood on the fountain trying to see over the horde that was only growing in size. The only thing visible was a blonde and red fluff among the crowd. (F/N) squealed pointing in their direction. âIT REALLY IS THEM! WE GOTTA GET OVER THEREâ You felt a bit more determined now that the odds of getting to them seemed nearly impossible. The crowd began to move towards the staircase, you grabbed your friends wrist again hopping off the fountain rushing to the staff only escalator. It was much faster than the regular stairs that were currently being occupied. The two of you made your way around the crowd, luckily the crowd wasn't too aggressive but it was obvious that no girl wanted to lose their spots in front of the stage. The small staging area upstairs was set up rather nicely but it was meant to keep some kind of order among the girls. The staff only allowed 4 girls at a time to go up on stage to meet the boys, even exchanging the gifts they brought. The lines were moving pretty quickly and it was almost your turn. The wait wasn't bad at all, but it seemed like the girls in front of you didn't feel the same way. They were becoming extremely rowdy as the girls before them took their time carrying on a conversation longer than what was allowed. Soon the girls before you began to shout absurdities towards the girls on the stage which caused them to respond back resulting in an argument. Most of the girls cleared out, backing away to give the girls some space but you and (F/N) stayed put. You weren't worried about the fight turning physical because that would cause a bigger issue for the rest of you. You worked too hard to lose your spot now. (F/N) stood close by but unfortunately the fight took a turn for the worse. You tried to move out of the way stepping up on the stairs to the stage , the girls fighting pushed and shoved each other even landing a few hits here and there. However you were caught in the crossfire and were pushed off the staging area, you fell towards the crowd of girls at the bottom making the scream, You braced yourself for impact, closing your eyes tightly. The sound of your friends voice and a loud âfuckâ echoed in your ears. You felt yourself being engulfed in a tight embrace, you head being tucked into a shoulder and shielded from behind. You and your savior hit the ground rather hard but you didn't get a chance to feel it due to the person cushioning your fall. You looked up and gasped, getting a good look at their face. Bakugo stared down at you grinding his teeth angrily. âStupid women.â He winced in pain as he stood up turning to face the girls who started the fighting cracking his knuckles. âListen here you idiots, you pull something like this again and youâll have to answer to me you got that! AND THAT GOES FOR THE REST OF YOU!â He smashed his fist to his palm activating his quirk. The girls behind the ropes squealed completely ignoring what just happened. He walked off leaving you on the ground as he walked towards the stage. Your eyes followed him as he ascended. Kirishima looked at his friend before hopping off the stage himself walking over to you reaching a hand out. âAre you alright Miss?â It took all your willpower to now gawk at him, he was gorgeous up close but you pushed the thought to the back of your mind grabbing his hand to pull yourself up. He helped you with no effort, his muscle rippling as he assisted you. He scanned over your body for injury as he spoke softly to you. âI'm sorry about him, heâs not too great at consoling a victim but at least youâre safe now. Unless you require medical help?â Your friend watched from behind him giving you the âI told you faceâ wiggling her eyebrows. You turned back to him giving him a friendly smile which shocked him a bit. âIâm fine, thank you Red Riot.â âAh--â He gave you one of his boyish smiles in return rubbing the back of his neck. âYou can call me Eijiro okay, Whatâs your name?â. You suddenly forgot how to speak and fumbled to find your words which made him laugh loudly. âRelax! Breathe, everything's cool.â You took a deep breath with his help finally introducing yourself.Â
âMy names (y/n)â  â(Y/N)?â he repeated back to you.  âYeah.â âThatâs beautiful--I mean cool! Anyways, I better be going but um, are you gonna be alright (y/n)?â Your friend signaled over his shoulder for you to pretend to be injured and you shook your head at her. He leaned back into your view and looked at you with genuine concern. âSo youâre not okay? â he questioned. Your eyes snapped back to his concerned red ones. âOh no! I mean, Iâm fine.â âOh okay, for a second there it looked like you said you were still hurt?â âNo Iâm okay, thank you for asking!â âWell alright. Iâll see you on stage okay. Try not to fall againâ
He escorted you back to the line with your friend who was pretending to be as casual as possible. She looked at you and dramatically threw her arms around your body. âOh my baby! Are you alright?â you arched your brow at her acting and sighed going along with it. âIâm fine. You can rest easy now.â He nodded leaving you two to talk things out. The girls who started the fight were removed from the mall allowing the two of you to walk up for your turn officially. You watched as your friend ran over to Bakugo wrapping her arms around his neck. He pulled away from her body with a blush on his cheeks. âLet go of me, you dumb assâŠ.â âAww come on, Iâm just really grateful that you saved my best friend's life!â she finished kissing his cheek. He continued to pull away from her advances in disgust. âI couldnât give a rats ass! Let go!â You and Kirishima watched the scene unfold shaking your head at your friends' antics. You pulled out your phone in which he took it from your hands holding it above your heads. He wrapped his arm around your waist pulling you closely. âHere let me do it. Iâm taller anyways.â he leaned down closely pressing his head against yours smiling brightly. You blushed but smiled a bit as he snapped the image. The sound of Bakugos groans caught your attention. Your friend continued to grab him by his shirt collar to kiss his cheek as she took her own photo. You held in a laugh, turning your attention to your phone that was in Kirishima's hands. He was busy typing something in before turning it back to you. You looked at the screen in shock. You looked back up at him and he turned his face with a clear blush matching his friends. You saved the number on the screen and tucked your phone into your back pocket. You grabbed your friend's arm pulling her away from Bakugo who wiped the lipstick off his cheek shuddering. The two of you exited off the stage, your friend blew him a goodbye kiss as you dragged her back to the water fountain. âSo?â You heard her say. âSo what?â âDid you have a moment with him~â (F/N) leaned in closely to your face poking your cheek. âAh, kinda...you especially had a good time didnâtâ âBUT YOU DID HAVE A MOMENT!!! I TOLD YOUâ You pulled your phone out scrolling through the contacts showing her the new addition. She screamed wrapping her arms around you bouncing up and down. âIâm so proud of you!!!â You tapped her arm realizing that this was the moment she would never let you live down.Â

TWD - Their History ((The Beginning))
Merle Dixon and Barbra Jean Greenberg
He had lived in a small community with his family in a cabin his great granddaddy built on the edge of the woods. The spot of land was some gift from a big time farmer that couldn't pay back all the money his great granddaddy had leant him. So, from that point on the Dixon family has lived there and raised their kids there. Merle was sure his life was gonna be full of people looking down on him for where he's from and how he lives cause that's what his mama always warned him about. But you can imagine his surprise when one day, in the middle of the hottest summers in Merle's short nine years of life, a moving truck had pulled up to the one house that had been built a a good twenty or so feet in front of them. It woulda been a normal move really if not for the bright almost white blonde hair catching his eye.
At first, his interest was the mildest because it was something to do while their tv set was broken. Merle sat by the window, peeking past their curtains as sneakily as he could to watch all the movement. The burly men move around the fancy looking furniture with beards and mustaches that would put his pa's to shame. He liked to imagined the yappy dog that's rushing around sounds like a squeaky toy and that the lady in high, high heels was the one barking. She was like his pa was with all her yelling, she liked to be in charge and ruled with an iron fist. Three kids much older than Merle taking in small things in various states of disarray but excited none the less. A man in thick glasses worked alongside what Merle assumed was his wife, she was the oldest lady there and they were both dressed too nice to be anything but the owners, focusing his efforts on directing the children instead of the men. The only ones not moving around in a hurry was two kids that sat on a large blanket a couple feet from the commotion. That's where he first saw her.
The first kid he saw was small, had to be like three or four, and was fighting real hard to put any grass he gets his hands on into his mouth. Tiny face all scrunched up and red as it yelled in frustration at the other kid stopping him. And the moment Merle's eyes slid over to the other did he find himself staring in wonder. She was around his age, a little on the chubbier side from probably getting fed by fancy people all day, dressed up in a pretty sun dress like the girls he'd see in church, and a mass of long bright blonde hair that looked white in the light. Her big eyes could be mistaken for white from where he was standing and it made him wanna stare all day. How could they be so bright? What color are they really? He'd never seen someone so fancy and shiny before... Someone so close...
"Now what are ye lookin' at, Sweet Darlin'?"
Merle feels like he's jumping outta his skin at the voice of his mama right behind him. He jerks his head to the side finding her thin face surrounded by thick brown hair looked paler than before, especially from the strip of sunlight that was shining on her from beyond the curtains. Even his young mind knew that she'd most likely woke up from a bad night terror hours ago but her 'paralysis' as she called it had kept her down for a couple more. She was as exhausted as she looked.
"Nothin'..."
"That don' look like nothin', baby. Ya interested in all the ruckus this mornin'? Thinkin' o' makin' friends with 'em," his mama says knowingly. She nudges him slightly away from the window enough to open the curtain fully, the action catching the attention of the kids Merle had been watching. His mother's tiny arms bulged as she pulled the rickety window open with a good bit of effort. When she turned back to her son a smile graced her features at the confused look on Merle's face. "Honey, ya can't make friends hidin' in here now can ya? Ya gotta get out there 'fore they decide to shack up with the kinda kids who won't play with people like us."
He knew what she meant. Money made the world go round and he'd seen that for most of his young life. People were mean to people who couldn't make much and they sure loved to keep kicking when you got knocked down. Merle's pa loved to say that everything he did was toughen Merle up cause the big wide world wanted nothing more than to break him down into nothing but dust. His mama never liked how his pa treated him but she never said he was wrong for thinking like that either. So if even his mama thought the world was out to get him then how could Merle pretend that wasn't his reality?
"Yeah. Early bird catches the worm and if I ain't goin' now then 'm never gettin' no worms," Merle answers back with a hard look in his Georgia blues.
The nod his mama gives him is enough to boost his confidence and power his thin legs into rushing out the door towards the blanket. He comes to a halt a foot from the blanket, his little heart pounding and his face flushed as his determination slowly died down as he realized he had no plan beyond running up. It doesn't help either that both of the kids on the blanket were now staring up at him and-
"You're eyes are white?"
"Wha... uh, no my mama said they're grey," the girl answers back with a voice so soft and pretty that it had to be fake.
Being the type to not let shit lie Merle immediately says, "Why ya talk like that?"
"Excuse you," she says with a brow raised and her round nose scrunched up. "What's that 'posed to mean?"
"Ya voice is all soft and stuff... Why ya talk all soft an' stuff," Merle amends quickly, seeing that what he said bothered her.
"Dunno. Mama says ladies should sound soft and pretty and my voice is weird so, uh, I just do?"
"Oh, okay," Merle rubs his hands nervously against his oversized pants and wow his hands are sweaty. His mama shoulda told him to change because what is he supposed to do now that he's like a hundred degrees and is now in a hundred degree weather? Probably die from heat stroke. And push through, Merle fiddles with the end of his t-shirt as he continues, "My name's Merle. Uh, Merle Dixon and... err, heh.... Welcome to the neighborhood or somethin'."
"So yer the welcome wagon?"
He gives a high pitched laugh because this is harder than he expected and he's fumbling hard. "My mama said that I should welcome ya cause yer new and ya probably don't know nobody yet. Plus, we're neighbors so its all neighborly like to say hello."
"And ya didn't bring nothing with ya? No cookies or nothing," her voice is definitely teasing like those kids at the park he hated seeing. He doesn't like voices like that cause it always means they're making fun of him. He clenches his fists and takes a deep breathe.
"We don' got any ta give..."
"Oh, I didn't really mean- It was a joke, ya know? Sorry it was a bad one, huh? Ya don't gotta bring nothin', promise. Uh, so, ye live in the cabin," she pushes past the joke in favor of putting the other kid down and standing up. "My name is Barbra Jean Greenberg and this is my little brother, Gregory. Most people call me Babs or just Barbra and it's real nice to meet you, Merle."
The girl, Barbra, offers her hand to him and Merle plans to smack himself later for how fast he latches onto her hand to shake it. He probably feels all clammy and nasty. Barbra just smiles brightly at him though as if it doesn't matter, him noticing that she was missing a tooth on the bottom row. They matched!
"How'd you lose your tooth?"
Barbra quickly pulls her hand away and covers her mouth as she gasps, "Oh no, you can tell? Ah man..."
"What're you embarrassed fer? Ya ain't notice nothin'? We match," he exclaimed excitedly as he carefully pulls her hands away from her face. "See? Look! Look!"
"We do!"
Maybe its the relief in the realization or maybe its because she's been outside for a good couple minutes, but for whatever reason it is she starts to laugh. Its loud and sudden, like a firecracker going off, that shocks Merle into laughing along with her. Seeing his older sister and this new kid laughing causes little Gregory to burst into little fits of giggles as well. The excited laughter must catch the attention of Barbra's mother because suddenly someone's yelling.
"Barbra Jean! Gregory! Let's get outta this heat already."
The two kids look between Merle and their mother before slowly getting up. Barbra rolls up the blanket and takes her brother's hand as she turns to head towards her mother. She moves to take a step towards her before saying over her shoulder, "I'm gonna talk to my mama about playin' with ye later after we get the house all nice, okay? We'll play out here cause we're sharing a lawn and 'm sure mama will like that she can see us. We'll play again later, alright?"
"That's a promise?"
Barbra nods and quickly shouts goodbye as she drags her little brother along to the house. Merle waves to the retreating duo, a smile on his face at Gregory's shy wave. And the moment he's alone he's dancing around excitedly. He did it! He did it!
"Merle, Sweet Darlin', are you comin' back in," the sound of Merle's mama calling him makes his thumping heart jump.
"I did it, mama! I did it!"
And man, he can't wait for the next time they meet.

the curse of cousin Chad

______________________
Relationships: Â GEN. Tim Drake & Jason Todd & Stephanie Brown
Summary: Tim Drake's only wish is for people to stop talking about Red Robin on the news (and a monkey's paw finger curls somewhere as Chad Wayne shows up in their lives.)
________________________
Red Robin had been better, but he had been worse too.
After Batgirl helps him sit down, he stops for a second and decides that he probably doesnât have any broken bones, just more than a few bruises forming. Batgirl all but falls by his side, exhausted, and judging by the groan she lets out she must be just as sore. Still, she extends her fist for a bump and he grins as he obliges.
âWell, no one got shot or stabbed, so thatâs a win on my book,â Red Robin says.
âThat and we put away a dangerous gang that had been terrorizing the locals for months,â she reminds him.
âYeah, that too.â
He glances around and decides the building they chose is tall enough that they can relax for a bit. He pulls down his cowl. Tim lets out a long relieved sigh when the cold night air touches his face. Batgirl follows his cue, even if she struggles with her hair for a bit to do so. The two of them let their legs dangle from the edge of the rooftop, unbothered by the height, their gazes on the sky.
Heavy footsteps approach the young vigilantes from behind, but neither Tim nor Steph worries, because theyâre familiar with the sound. As expected, a third vigilante soon enough takes the spot by Stephâs other side, his helmet already under his arm and his face mask free.
âYou two look really beaten considering you werenât fighting alone tonight,â Jason says.
Steph flips him off.
Tim rolls his eyes. âThere were a lot of weaklings, okay? Sometimes thatâs more annoying than one strong guy.â
âIf you say so.â
âHow about your night?â Steph asks casually.
âKicked some ass, shot the kneecaps of the most stubborn ones. All in a nightâs work.â
They nod and resume watching the sky for a brief peaceful moment. So high above they can barely hear the sounds of sirens and late night traffic on the streets.
Then Steph sits up so fast she almost slips down the edge. Tim and Jason grab her shoulders by reflex and pull her back at the same time.
Ignoring the fact that she almost died, Steph shouts: âWhat time is it?â
âHm... about 2am?â Tim checks his wrist pad. âYeah, 2:35.â
âOh my God!â She groans, pressing the heels of her hands to her eyes. âWe missed the countdown by, like, a lot! How did we not hear the fireworks?â
âGunshots?â Jason suggests.
âFireworks and gunshots donât sound the same, we all know the difference.â
Tim rolls his eyes, because this is so them. Of course theyâd miss the start of the new year because they were busy fighting crime. Steph and Tim were even planning on going to WEâs New Yearâs party together after what was supposed to be a super quick patrol, just to stop a few muggers, really . Tim is glad they did, even if Lucius is going to scold him on Monday. He hates those parties.
âWell, I have a little something here to celebrate,â Jason says with a crooked grin.
He turns his helmet upside down, revealing a bottle of booze. Of course the dramatic bitch had it hidden, just waiting for the right moment to reveal it. Steph whoops excitedly.
âJason, youâre my hero! I mean⊠B is gonna kill us if he finds we were drinking in uniform, but itâs not like heâll find out, right?â
Jason hands the bottle to Tim first, his smile positively wicked. Having been given this sort of gift from Jason before, Tim rolls his eyes and takes a generous chug without hesitation. His eyes tear up a bit at the taste when he passes the bottle to Steph.
She happily drinks straight from the bottle like Tim had⊠Then she freezes.
"Jason?"
âYeah, Steph?â
âWhat the heck is this?â
âSpinach and lettuce juice. Timmy needs those antibodies."
"Jason, why are you like this?
"You didnât think I was giving you guys alcohol, did you? You two are minors.â
Tim grins. He can tell Steph is trying to decide whether to throw the bottle overboard or at Jasonâs head.
Before she decides, he turns his gaze back to the sky and asks: âYou guys made any New Yearâs wishes?â
âResolutions,â Steph corrects. âWishes are for birthdays.â
Jason makes a high-pitched voice, âwow, look at me, Iâm Stephanie Brown, my mom loves me so much she celebrated my birthday!â
Tim laughs. âGeez, Iâll drink to that.â
There are no words to describe the horror in Stephâs face when he takes back the bottle and drinks a little more of the green juice.
He simply shrugs. âItâs an acquired taste.â
Deciding itâs not worth the trouble, Steph shakes her head and says, âIâm keeping it simple this year. My only resolution is to pass all my classes for once in my life. What about you, Jay?â
âI donât do that corny shit.â
âThen why did you ask?â
âI know you guys like corny shit.â
âWeâve seen you cry over Jane Austen, your edgelord bullcrap doesnât work on us,â Steph says. When Jason tries to protest that his eyes were just tearing up from yawning, she turns to Tim: âWhat about you? Any New Year wishes?â
âJust one, too,â Tim says. âI wanna make sure every non-criminal forgets Red Robin ever existed.â
Jason and Steph snort.
âIâm serious. No more shipping me with my family, no more stalkers. Iâll do everything in my power to make sure no reporter writes the words âRed Robinâ ever again.â
âGood luck with that, Timbers.â
Tim drinks his lettuce juice in silence. He hands the bottle back to Jason. Steph pretends to gag when he also takes a long sip. Despite their incredulity, Tim is feeling positive about his goal. He feels like after the Red Twins craze died down, people lost interest in him. He thinks he can pull it off.
If only he knew.
Tim almost never visits the manor anymore. Heâs been to the Batcave once or twice on the past few months, but the house itself⊠he doesnât even remember the last time. He decides to stop by on a rare free afternoon, hoping Duke and Cass will be around. If not, seeing Alfred outside the cave and having a cup of tea with him was more than enough.
He lets himself in, because he knows it makes Alfred begrudgingly happy when any of the kids acts as though they still live there rather than politely ringing the bell. It also makes Damian mad, which is always a plus.
Hearing voices from the living room, Tim heads straight there, excited that thereâs someone home. His smile freezes on his face. Whatever he was expecting to see, it wasnât⊠that.
Bruce is sitting near the fireplace pinching the bridge of his nose as he does when his children are fighting among themselves. On the opposite couch is none other than Jason being embraced by a complete stranger that is currently sobbing into his shoulder.
Jasonâs gaze meet Timâs in what is clearly a plea for help. All Tim can do is mouth who the hell is that? to which Jason mouths back I have no fucking idea.
âWould you look at that, Timâs here,â Bruce says. Tim has the feeling heâs trying to save Jason.
The sniffling stranger pulls back and turns around. âOh god. Youâre a man now, Timmy! Last time I saw you, you were just a tiny kid!â
To Timâs complete horror, the man stands and comes hug him tightly.
âUh⊠â
âOh gosh, Iâm sorry,â the man gives a watery chuckle âof course you donât remember me. You were a basically a toddler and I was also a kid when I last saw you. Iâm Chad, your fatherâs cousin.â
âOh. YouâreâŠâ
âI mean, Bruce's cousin. I knew Jack, though. He was good people.â
âBruceâs cousin. Hm. So your name is Chad Wayne, huh?â
âYeah, why?â
âNothing,â Tim pretends not to see Jason hide a snicker into his hand. âSounds⊠cool.â
âChad is visiting Gotham for a couple of weeks,â Bruce tells him. âHe just graduated from college in Central City and decided it was a good idea to visit old relatives. It was such a great surprise when he arrived.â
âRight,â Chad wipes the tears from his face, âand I happened to run right into Jason here and oof. Saying I was surprised doesnât cover it.â
His jovial laughter is so genuine that itâs almost unsettling.
âOh. You⊠You know Jason."
âYeah, man. My family was in a year long trip to Africa, so we didnât hear about his death until a long time had passed. My parents were crushed that they couldnât be there for Brucie then. Bruce was telling me about how you guys got him back. Nothing short of a miracle, huh?â
âA miracle,â Jason echoes.
Chad scratches his own nape, finally looking appropriately embarrassed. âSorry I got so emotional, Jason. I almost didnât recognize you, you got so jacked , man. I guess I have a good memory for faces.â
He speaks so fast. Steph always complains that Tim speaks too fast whenever he is in the zone and caffeinated, but that was nothing compared to Chadâs rambling.
âOh well. C'mere, Tim, sit with us, let me get to know you guys. Even if Iâm your fatherâs cousin, I guess Iâm closer in age to you two ahaha...â
Tim is known for being a quick thinker, but something about Chadâs khaki shorts and how out of place they look in Gotham stuns him into inaction. He lets Chad drag him to the couch and doesnât say anything else on pure fear that the guy is about to do it to âem.
âActually,â Jason stands, âTim is here to pick me up. We have this, hm, doctorâs appointment. To check my⊠eyes. Yeah, my eyes. Timâs gonna drive me.â
âOh, thatâs alright, we can talk more when you two come back.â
âBack?â Tim parrots.
âActually, Chad, Jason and Tim donât live in the manor,â Bruce says. âThey share an apartment around downtown.â
For the first time, Chad drops his too-blessed-to-be-stressed smile and frowns. âWhat? Why? I thought you guys just got Jason back. Shouldnât he stay with you, Bruce?â
âActually, thatâs a funny story,â Jason says, taking Tim by the arm. âIâm sure Bruce will love to tell you all about it. I canât be late for my appointment, isnât that right, lil' bro?â
âUh⊠Yeah. Being dead made his insurance skyrocket and the cancelation fees are a nightmare.â
âHm-hum, all that. See you around and stuff.â Jason is holding Timâs arm with such force that itâll bruise for sure. Theyâre still on the way to the door when he hisses: â Get me out of here right now.â
âBut I didnât even see Alfred,â he whispers back.
â Now, Timothy ! â
They donât stop powerwalking until theyâre in the car. Jason doesnât bother going back for his bike and Tim makes a mental note to ask Cass to bring it back to their place later.
For a second, they just breathe Gothamâs polluted air to remind themselves theyâre still home and not in a Disney sitcom.
Thatâs when Jason starts ranting. Apparently he was on the way to the kitchen to get just a bowl of cereal when he walked into Alfred getting the door open for cousin Chad. Alfred had said "Master Jason, I didnât know you were here" and cousin Chad recognized him and started losing it. Bruce didnât let Jason kill him, unfortunately, but managed to pull a story out of his ass about Jason coming back from the dead after someone from the Justice League messed up the timeline or something like that. The official story is that they found Jason just a couple of weeks ago and are still working out the kinks of having a family member return from the grave. Except Jasonâs speech was a lot more convoluted and involved a lot of curse words and shakespearean insults.
â...and I didnât even get my freaking cereal!â he finishes, just as Tim parks in front of their home.
âWell. That was an afternoon you just had,â Tim says. Jason huffs and gruffs on the way to the elevator. Tim waits until the doors close to say: âBruce didnât pull that story out of his ass, by the way.â
Jason frowns. âWhat?â
âYour cover story,â Tim clarifies. âHe had it for years. I know everything about it if you want the details. He asked me for feedback when he was figuring how to make it believable and whatnot.â
âWhat? When? Why?â
âAs soon as we found out you were alive. He wanted to be ready in case you decided to officially join the family again. It took a few days of work, but the plan exists and is ready to go whenever.â
Jason doesnât say anything. Tim had expected that, so he allows him to mull over the newfound knowledge. He also expects Jason to head straight for the kitchen, which he does, and Tim follows his brother closely, not commenting on the tension of his shoulders or the way his jaw is set tight enough to crack a few teeth.
When his brother just stands near the sink apparently unsure of what to do with himself, Tim gets milk from the fridge and starts preparing a bowl of cereal.
âWhat were you doing there, anyway?â
âI went to see Alfred,â Jason mumbles. âBut he was busy, so I was⊠I was talking to Bruce for a bit.â
âOh?â
Jason grabs the bowl Tim is offering him. âShut up.â
âI didnât say anything.â
âShut up.â And Jason stomps his way to his room, slamming the door after him.
When Steph shows up after class, Tim tells her not to bother him.
WAYNE FAMILY
Tim: @Bruce so wats his deal
Bruce: Dear Tim, what do you mean by that? sincerely, Bruce Wayne.
Tim: chad
Tim: whats his night persona
Tim: his masked name
Bruce: Tim, Chad is not a vigilante. sincerely, Bruce Wayne
Dick: shoot
Dick: heâs a villain???
Bruce: Dear Dick, Chad is not a villain either. Heâs just a civillian. sincerely, Bruce Wayne.
Duke: dont he want to avenge his parents?
Bruce: Dear Duke, His parents are alive and well. Theyâre international activists currently on a mission to feed the poor somewhere in South America. sincerely, Bruce Wayne.
Damian: That means heâs must be a sleeper agent of sorts. Iâll collect some of his DNA for examination. Drake, I trust youâll do a thorough check on his background, official and otherwise.
Tim: on it
Bruce: Damian, if you get your second-cousinâs DNA to run tests, your weekend at the Kent farm is permanently cancelled.
Jason: so b you admit you text like itâs a business email just to fuck with us, huh?
Bruce: Dear Jason, Mind your language in front of your little brothers. Sometimes Iâll sacrifice the format for the sake of speed. Regardless, this is the ideal way of writing a text message. sincerely, Bruce Wayne.
Bruce: @everyone Chad will be staying with us for a few weeks. Heâs just a regular civilian with no tragic backstory, no metapowers and no secret identity. I expect all of you to behave like Alfred taught you and hide your secret identities like I trained you to. No one will investigate him or do anything to compromise our identities. Is that clear? Awaiting confirmation, Bruce Wayne
Cass: weird
Bruce: Dearest Cass, Itâs not weird. Civilians exist. Sincerely, Bruce Wayne
Tim: not in our family they dnt!!!
Tim: cmon b you cant tell me s not suspicious!!!!!
Bruce: It is not.
Alfred: Master Bruce already checked his DNA for metagenes and ran a thorough background check with the help of miss Barbara. Unfortunately, Master Chad is clear.
Cass: weeeeeiiiiird
Tim decides to avoid Wayne manor for the foreseeable future. Instead, he buys Alfredâs favorite brand of tea and wonders if he can convince the butler to come over to stay with them for an afternoon or perhaps the whole weekend. Tim is more than willing to share the couch with Steph and let Alfred have his bed. He puts the tea away with a passive aggressive note letting Jason and Steph know that tea is to be saved for Alfred.
Jason is in the living room cleaning one of his guns while Steph does her homework on the carpet by his feet, meaning is just an afternoon like any other for them.
Tim has to remind himself of her resolution before he gives in the temptation of asking her to go patrolling with him. The thing is that his resolution is a lot easier to pursue when Batgirl is around, because she can deal with the civilians after the fact while Red Robin vanishes as soon as the criminals are in cuffs.
Alas. Working alone can be fun, too, he tells himself.
Before he heads out to get his suit, however, the buzzer sounds. He hears Steph cheering and saying something about pizza.
Then a voice that makes Tim freeze in horror.
âOh, hey. I must have the wrong apartment. Is this Tim and Jason Wayneâs place?â
âUhhhhâŠâ
He runs so fast Bart would be proud, hoping he can sign at Steph to send him away before he sees them, but itâs too late. Tim rushes only to find out that, in all the glory of his khaki shorts and boat shoes, Chad Wayne is already inside his apartment.
Tim is very aware that Jason is frozen on the couch right behind him, still holding a gun.
âChad! What a surprise!â
âHey, Timbo!â Chad grins, looking genuinely happy to see him. âDamian told me you wouldnât be working tonight and then he gave me your address!â
Why, god? Why hadnât Tim killed Damian when he had the chance?
âAnd who is this lovely young woman?â He asks. âIf she isnât spoken for, I might want to steal her for me.â
âIâm his ex, actually, and I sort of live here.â Steph offers her hand. âI speak for myself.â
Instead of shaking her hand, Chad brings her fingers to his lips and gives them an excuse of a kiss. âItâs a pleasure to meet you, ma damme .â
Stephâs smile is too wide to be natural and her eyes look like theyâre about to jump out of the sockets. Like the rest of the family, she seems to struggle to believe this guy is real. Tim canât save her, he just wishes Jason would put away his things while cousin Chad is busy with Steph.
âSo, Chad, itâs so nice to see you, but uhhh... What are you doing here?â
âWell, since you guys never go over I had to come see you! And trust me, I get it , when I let my folksâ place to go to college, I wanted to spend even the breaks at my frat house. Anyway, I thought Iâd come here, we can order some take out andâŠâ
His eyes finally find Jason and he freezes. â...is that a gun?â
Crap, poop, turd, crap, Â crapcrapcrapcrap-
âUhhh⊠yeah?â
In the same way when he heard that Jason doesnât live with Bruce, Chadâs positive vibes vanish and he looks distraught.
âGuys⊠does Bruce know about that?â
Before anyone can stop him, Chad walks in like he owns the place and takes the seat by Jasonâs side. Tim and Steph exchange a panicked look, both praying that the gun isnât easy to assemble or at least that Jason doesnât have any ammo within arms reach. The two hurry to join them, Steph dropping on the couch and casually leaning against Jason in a position that allows her to hold his arm should he decide to throw Chad out. Tim takes the arm of the couch closer to Chad, ready to pick him up and throw him away himself if he says something stupid.
âWe keep it here for safety,â Jason says simply.
âOkay. Oof.â Chad reaches for Jasonâs shoulder. âLook, I get it. Gotham is dangerous. But having a gun at home is more of a hazard than anything else, Jace. Can I call you Jace?â
âNo.â
âLook, Iâm an only son, but if I had a little brother like Tim, Iâd want to show him a good example, you know? And guns are not the solution. Do you genuinely think you could shoot someone? I donât think so. I served the army and there we learn that shooting a person is harder than you can imagine."
Tim can see Steph discreetly pinching Jasonâs thigh to keep him in check. Jason looks like heâs asking himself if heâs in the Twilight zone.
There is a beat of silence and Jason opens his mouth. Tim braces himself. Before disaster hits, Steph blurts:
âActually, thatâs why Jasonâs here.â
Fortunately, Chad doesnât notice Jasonâs and Timâs perplexed faces because heâs focused on Steph again.
âOf course Bruce hates guns with his parents and all that,â she frowns sympathetically. âBut⊠Chad, Jason died. Of course heâs getting therapy, but he still needs something to feel safe at least at home. Isnât that right, Jay?â
She gently rubs his arm. Jason knows Steph enough to recognize the play along or youâre dead in her falsely upset expression.
âUh⊠Right. That. I moved in with Tim because, uh, I know Bruce is weird with guns." Another pinch to his thigh. Clearly in a begrudging voice, he adds: "And I super agree with him. I mean, what if Damian found it?â
âGod, no,â Tim deadpans. âI donât want to even imagine Damian with a gun.â
âBut Tim and he knows he's not to mess with it,â Jason adds.
âBruce told me youâre here you and him are a bit at odds, but he didnât tell me you fought over you having a gun.â
âBruce doesnât know and you canât tell him,â Tim cuts in. Batman is definitely going to forget his no-killing rule if he finds out they let cousin Chad see Red Hoodâs gun. âPlease, Chad. I promise you weâre careful. Weâre just trying to make the best out of a difficult situation.â
Tim hopes the mention that this is a touchy subject will deter Chad. He forgets to take in consideration that Chad thinks theyâre his family despite him knowing literally nothing about them. He is under the very wrong impression that he's allowed to talk to them about personal shit. Which is great. This is just great.
âIf it makes you feel better, this is temporary,â Jason says. âI talked to my, uh, my therapist about it and he cleared me to have the gun. When I start, you know, getting over the death trauma, Iâll get rid of it.â
âRight,â Steph nods eagerly. âWeâre planning on throwing a party when we reach that point and everything.â
The three of them wait with baited breath as Chad considers their excuses, his expression somber. Then Chad opens his arms and pulls Tim and Jason into a triple hug.
âI get it,â he says in a hoarse voice he probably finds cool. âYou do what you have to do to cope, man. Bruce told me youâre brave and I can see thatâs true. And you, â he squeezes Tim, âI heard from Dickie that youâre a little prodigy, but Iâm so proud of you for being there for your brother!â
God, he has so many feelings. Tim promises himself heâll never complain about Dick being clingy again. Dick has a Batman level of emotional constipation if compared to this guy.
âRight,â Jason pulls himself free from the hug. âIâm gonna put this away, alright?â
He gathers his cleaning supplies and the spare parts spread across the coffee table and takes it to his room. His expression says he's still trying to figure out what that was.
âBut, TimboâŠâ
âJust Tim is fine.â
âI thought you didnât know Jason before his death? Bruce adopted you kind of recently, didnât he?â
âUhhh⊠I donât know what to tell you. Jason and I hit it off and became friends fast,â Tim says. âI mean, at first he hated me enough to want to slit my throatâŠâ
âWow, alright,â Jason interrupts as he returns, a pout on his lips. âI see weâre very comfortable joking about my early⊠grumpiness. Itâs not something I feel guilt or still have nightmares about at allâ
Tim almost snorts at that. âLike I was saying, we got better.â
Chad nods thoughtfully and leans back to be more comfortable, nothing about his body language suggesting he might be getting ready to leave.
âSo!â Steph claps her hands together. âThank you for understanding, Chad. Now maybe let's talk about something lighter, shall we?â
And thatâs what they do, with some sttrugle. At first, Chad seems too upset to talk about anything and Steph has to use all of her charm to get him to forget about the fantastic start of his visit. Jason helps by making sarcastic remarks that almost sound genuine and Tim⊠Tim canât do much.
He texts Cass and she agrees to take his patrol duty for the night. Tim considered making up an emergency at WE and going out anyway, but in the end he decided that was unfair to the others.
He also sends a message chewing on Damian for sending Chad his way without a warning. No one ever visits Timâs apartment other than his family and his hero friends, so they could have been in full uniform in the middle of the living room. Damian responds with a dismissive text filled with words that Tim doesnât know. Tim threatens to break all of his crayons and puts his phone away
By this point, Chad is a bit more like himself again and Tim almost wishes he stayed distressed, because the rest of the night is painfully weird. To avoid more awkward conversation, Jason puts on a random horror movie for them. Chad comments on how impressive it is that none of them seems to mind the gore. He squeals and groans and gives Steph a horrified look when she simply keeps eating her pepperoni pizza as though nothing of note is happening on the screen.
The thing is that the movieâs gore is decidedly inaccurate to the point that they barely recognize it for what it's supposed to be. Besides itâs nothing worse than some wounds theyâd either suffered or seen as vigilantes.
Maybe itâs because Tim didnât get the adrenaline he expected from patrol, but he ends up falling asleep on Jasonâs shoulder during the climax of the second movie.
He wakes up alone on the couch with a blanket half-thrown over his legs. It's still the middle of the night and he has half a mind to go to his room before he hears muffled voices from the kitchen. Rubbing his eyes, he follows the sound without thinking much.
âGood morning, sleeping beauty,â Steph greets him.
She and Jason apparently are building a castle of Uno cards in the middle of the kitchen table.
Tim joins them. âItâs 3am.â
âWitching hour,â Jason mumbles.
Steph gestures at the castle and offers Tim a card. He takes it.
âIt was a dirty trick to fall asleep like that,â she tells him. âYou missed the selfie party to celebrate the first time he visited Jace and Timbo.â
Tim groans. âHe stayed long?â
âToo long.â Jason adds another pair of cards to the castle. âI think I have a headache and the Lazarus pit is supposed to make you immune to headaches.â
âThat's what I was telling Jason before you got here, Tim. Weâre socially capable, right?â
âHmmm⊠Right, I guess.â
âHow come we couldnât get rid of him? Why were we so lost while we were, like, just hanging out with him? Is everyone outside of Gotham like that?â
Part of Tim is relieved that Steph hates Chad too. He thought he and Jason had finally caught Batmanâs moodiness, but Steph is one of the most cheerful people he knows and her dry sense of humor and quick quips are a lot more bearable than cousin Chadâs peppy attitude.
The other part of himâŠ
âI think itâs less about him not being from Gotham and more about him being a civilian,â Jason says.
The castle falls. None of them reacts.
âThat canât be right,â Steph says. âWe have civilian friends and theyâre not like that.â
âDo we?â
âYeah! Jason-- Hm. Tim has Tam⊠Oh, forget it, sheâs not talking to him again. I have Francisco and- I just remembered heâs the son of a gangster.â Steph pauses. âHuh. Do we seriously not know any civilians?â
They donât. Not on a friendly level, at least.
Tim had considered that before, but he didn't want to think about it. It was weird he was so distant from a normal life that he felt unsettled by it. Not bad. Just weird. If he hadnât found out Batmanâs and Robinâs identities, would he grow up to be a Chad? Finishing high school, living in a frat house in college, and all that? Would he still be a Drake, neighbor to the Waynes?
He loves all of his siblings and Bruce and Alfred and he doesnât want to consider a life without them.
However.
In a world without Batman. Bruce would still be a good man. He still wouldnât hesitate in adopting an orphaned circus boy. He would probably also adopt the little shit that tried to steal his not-batmobile tires. If by a miracle he also adopted the boy next door that tragically lost his parents and a girl from a very broken family and a young boy whose parents couldnât be there for him anymore. His gremlin of a biological son would have grown up beloved and incapable of harming anyone, let alone assassinating a person.
He remembers the plan to bring Jason back to the world of the living and how easy it had been for him and Bruce to put it together and make it seem believable, because in their world it was believable and it could have been the truth.
If Jason Wayne, a regular boy, son of a regular man, had been killed in a freak criminal act and brought back to life thanks to superhero shenanigans, all of them would have been there for him. Jason wouldnât resent his father for not killing his murderers, because that wasnât a possibility, and theyâd find a way to get him to overcome the effects of the trauma. Bruce certainly wouldnât spare effort or money to get his son back to full health.
If Stephanieâs father hadnât been a super criminal, Timâs first girlfriend wouldnât hit him in the face with a brick on their first meeting. She would have been a normal girl with a normal life and she could even run into him at school. There is no doubt in his mind that he would have found and made Steph his friend no matter the universe, except⊠would he?
In that reality, he didnât know what gore looked like. He would get too upset to function for half an hour at the mere sight of a gun. Heâd visit relatives unannounced and the worst thing that could happen was to find them heading out as he arrives. He draws the line at the khakis and boat shoes, because he doesnât think heâd wear those in any universe, but still.
That would not be Timothy Drake-Wayne. Tim had seen his own internal organs before. Timâs not only unfazed by fire guns but also built some for his older brother. Tim is fully aware that visiting any of his siblings might mean walking into a ninja fight at worst and finding them pretending to drive the batmobile at best.
Steph and Jason donât say anything for a while and Tim could easily blame it on the fact that itâs almost 4am and they have yet to sleep, but he knows itâs because theyâre reaching the same conclusion he did: theyâre not normal people. They always knew that, but knowing something and seeing evidence are two different things.
And again⊠itâs not bad. Itâs not that Tim wouldnât change anything about the past, itâs just that he doesnât regret the life he lead up until this point.
Itâs still weird. Too weird.
BABS
Babs: The red dynamic duo ship is back with a vengeance, huh?
Babs sent you a link.
Tim had never had a panic attack. Considering the life he leads, thatâs a pretty surprising thing. However, that text from a woman he considers part of his family kicks his fight-or-flight instinct like nothing in the world could. He clicks on it. He reads the article.
He screams into a pillow for about ten minutes.
Jason and Steph find him lying face down on the floor trying to get his phoneâs AI to buy him a ticket to Smallville. He's sure Conner will take him in. Heâll work at the farm. Heâll stop being Red Robin. He doesnât care.
Itâs an article from a teen magazine.
TIM WAYNE AND MYSTERY MAN?
Ah, the Wayne Family. Our favorite and most iconic family of Gotham. Timothy Drake-Wayne (18), or Tim, how he prefers to be called, has been under our radar for quite a while and not just because of his cute face. The young CEO of Wayne Enterprises and heir to Drake Industries is smart, rich and incredibly charming if the rumors are true. That being said, the question weâre all asking is: how is this boy still single?
Little to nothing is known about Tim Wayneâs love life and we were all crazy to know if he is in the market for a girlfriend.
Well, ladies, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Tim Wayne might have a special someone. Nothing is confirmed yet, but Chad Wayne (26), Timâs adoptive fatherâs cousin, shared a rather interesting picture on his snapchat.
Once we got over how freaking hot Chad is looking, we noticed something in the background. Right behind Chad, we can barely see someone that looks exactly like Tim Wayne fast asleep on the shoulder of a real heartthrob. Our suspicions were confirmed by Chadâs caption that said âvisiting the little cousinsâ!
Itâs a well-known fact that Tim Wayne is openly bisexual, so could this be his boyfriend? Or are they just dudes being bros, unbothered by toxic masculinity? Only time will tell.

Chad apologizes profusely for not noticing Tim and Jason were on that shot, but thankfully he does it over the phone so Tim can hang up halfway through his heartfelt apology.
The kids that still live in the manor aren't so lucky.
Tim gets a stream of facetimes from Duke, Cass and even Damian. Apparently Chad won't stop asking Cass to speak up, because she can, why bother with this weird sign stuff? (Cass stops Duke from hitting him.) He insists on asking Damian to play football with him until Damian knocked him out with a ball to the face. Bruce forced Damian to pretend he dislocated his shoulder on the stunt to prevent further invitations. Even though Duke is, by all means, perfect, Chad keeps stalking him and asking about his opinions on his siblings and if he thinks Bruce is doing the best job on raising them. The answers never satisfy him and he keeps asking as though he thinks the boy will change his mind if caught by surprise. Duke starts using his powers to jump out of the window whenever Chad is about to walk into the room until he lands on Alfred's roses. The fact that the butler isn't mad, just disappointed causes Duke to stop his daring escapes.
Bruce, despite his cool facade, isn't much better. He now has to keep his public persona at home too and, when it isn't driving him insane, he is being annoyed by his children exchanging weird looks and holding back giggles while he plays the himbo part.
Long story short, Chad is making a few days feel like torturing years.
The breaking point is the day Tim walks into his living room only to find Steph and Damian sitting on the couch facing each other while she dutifully paints his nails black.
âWhat is happening?â Tim asks. âDid I fall into a parallel Earth?â
âTt, do not concern yourself with us, Drake. Iâm here for Brown, not for you.â
Steph smirks at him.
âWhat the- Okay, first of all this apartment is mine and Jasonâs. Steph doesnât live here. Sometimes. Second⊠Since when do you get along with Steph?â
âI tolerate her.â
âWhat the hell? Thatâs like I love you in Gremlin language! Since when did you get Damian?â
Her smirk widens and Tim more or less expects her to do a little victory dance. âI donât know what to tell you, man. Iâm just irresistible.â
âHm.â Tim turns to Damian. âChad drove you out of the house and Bruce didnât let you go to Dick's place in Bludhaven, right?â
âFather says I cannot miss school.â
âGreat. If youâre going to become our second unofficial roommate, please stay away from Jasonâs pots. He says he has a system and he's a nightmare when we mess with them.â
âI would never spend more time than necessary in your disgusting nest.â
âYouâre literally on my couch! Letting my best friend paint your nails! You freaking pest!â
And Damian isnât the only one.
Cass used to come over regularly, but the frequency of her visits increases dramatically now that Chad is staying at the manor. She isnât bad to be around, though, as she mostly keeps training in the basement or napping on the couch that Steph is more than happy to share with her. When Tim asks why she doesnât simply stay in the Batcave, Cass tells him Bruce is keeping their time at the cave to a minimum because Chad noticed sometimes they vanish even if all cars were in the garage.
Chad is also painfully public. Heâs constantly tweeting and updating his Instagram and making sure everyone and their mother knows what heâs doing, whoâs with him and where they are. That makes it difficult to kick him out without drawing attention. Gotham's elite is a nest of gossip and intrigue and people ought to ask uncomfortable questions if a rich guy sends a rich relative away for seemingly no reason. Bruce might be the most private person in the world, but Brucie Wayne is supposed to be a fun-loving man.
Cass convinces Tim not to make much fun of Bruce, because apparently, after Chad posted a picture of him and Bruce trying to bake and Brucie is wearing an apron that says âKiss the Bat!â, Superman himself called him only to laugh for ten minutes. Tim Supposes thatâs punishment enough.
When Duke is the one seeking shelter, it isnât as fun. As much as Tim likes the guy, heâs a chronic worrier in a completely different way of Tim. He wants to make sure they're all living healthy lives and eating properly and, for some reason, whether Steph and Jason are bullying Tim. He question things such as the fact that Steph is ruining her back on the couch, Timâs habit of leaving dirty dishes in the sink overnight and the lack of the right brands of food, whatever that means. Tim gets tired of it pretty fast, but he also finds that being unnecessarilly dark is a efficient way to get Duke to shut up.
âSo Steph basically moved in, huh?â
âYeah.â
âDo you guys share the rent orâŠ?â
âI own the building, Duke.â
âRight. So she doesnât pay any bills.â
âShe kills bugs for us sometimes. She buys candy, too.â
"Does Jason pay bills?"
"He does. We split it evenly between the two of us."
"Huh. Where does he get any money?"
"Don't know. Don't care."
"Is Bruce okay with that?"
"If Bruce wanted to have a say in my life he shouldn't have died and forced me to get emancipated."
"... Tim, I love you so much, man, but sometimes it's hard to be your brother."
"I know, Duke. I love you too, Duke."
One night, he comes back from patrol and he finds all of his siblings literally camping in the living room. Someone even built a pillow fort by tying a preposterous amount of blankets to the porch door and the TV stand. Too tired to care, Tim turns to his room.
âGood night, Jay. Good night, Steph. Good night, parasites that do not live here.â
âYou take back those words on this instant, Drake,â Damian hisses, but fortunately someone (Steph) tucked him too tightly into his sleeping bag, so thereâs nothing he can do but wiggle around like an angry worm.
âWhy are we parasites?â Duke asks from his air mattress. âIâve done the dishes. Thatâs more than what Steph does.â
âGood night, Tim,â Cass says from⊠somewhere. They know she found a place to sleep. They donât know where it is.
DAD
Tim: brus pls get rid of him
Dad: I canât, Tim, itâd be suspicious to kick out a relative for no reason.
Tim: every1 is living at my place bc of him
Tim: even damian
Tim: do u kno how insuferable a man has to be that damian would rather spend time with jason and i
Dad: If everyone being at your place is bothering you so much, why donât you invite Chad?
Tim: ⊠no. ur not pushing him to me.
Dad: Chad and you are close in age, arenât you? You could get along if you tried.
Tim: i 19! he 26!
Dad: Jason is 22 and heâs your best friend.
Tim: conner is my best friend
Tim: jason is a partner in crime at best
Dad: If youâre able to think of something to shorten Chadâs visit, Iâm all ears. I admit itâs inconvenient to have him here. Otherwise, I think spending time with your siblings will do you some good.
Tim: i hate you
Dad: Alright, Tim.
Tim: ⊠ok that was a lie and im sorry i love u bruss
Dad: I love you too, Tim.
One day, Tim goes to the kitchen for a mug of coffee and finds Barbara comfortably working on her laptop.
â...you donât even live at the manor.â
âHm? Oh, Iâm not avoiding cousin Chad, Steph just invited me over for waffles.â
Tim just takes his coffee and leaves without saying anything else.
And then shit finally hits the fan.
Because Tim isnât an idiot like Bruce, he didnât make his public persona something that would be painful for him to play. As far as Gothamâs society knows, Tim Drake-Wayne is a calm and collected young man, work-driven and not too ill-mannered for a rich boy, which isnât as different from the real Tim. Real Tim is an overworked ball of anxiety that appears to be a calm and collected young man, so no one is surprised when he doesnât acknowledge the rumors about him and the mysterious man.
At least not until a son of a bitch with too much free time decides to ruin his brotherâs life on twitter.
@earthnotflatffs101Â yo donât this dude with tim drake low key look like jason todd?
And the motherfucker even dared to repost Chadâs selfie and an old picture of a 13 year-old Jason walking alongside Bruce.
Of course the tweet goes viral.
Everyone starts talking about the eerie resemblance between Timâs buddy and his deceased brother that he supposedly never met. Some find it tasteless that everyone is making a conspiracy theory out of an allegedly dead child, but they are quickly overpowered by the wave of old gossip being revisited. It takes one Sunday afternoon for everyone to start pointing out how weird it is that Tim Drake left the Wayne manor seemingly out of the blue and started living by himself at such a young age and how my sense itâd make for him to share a place with a brother. They notice Chad captioned the picture as "visiting the cousins" plural even if it's public knowledge that Tim Drake- Wayne lives alone. People start demanding to know who is the mystery man lending his shoulder to Tim, tagging the few Waynes with known social media in their posts and even WE corporate account.
Itâs the very definition of a shit show, in Timâs humble opinion.
Red Robin and Batgirl skip their Sunday patrol to brainstorm ideas of damage control. Damian is pacing around the kitchen as the two of them desperately try to apply an algorithm Oracle made to make sure less people will see posts about Jason Todd. Thereâs not a lot they can do about the fact that #IsJasonToddAlive? is trending. Theyâre so distressed that Damian forgets to be unpleasant.
âI see no other option,â Damian says at some point. âWe should kill that man before he ruins our family any further.â
âHow would killing him solve anything?â Tim groans.
âIt would make me feel better.â
âNo.â
âHis death would cause people to forget about Todd.â
â... Go on.â
âTim, youâre not going to let Dami kill Chad.â
âWhy not!â
âBecause with our track record heâs going to come back with radioactive powers or some shit.â
âThat would be good! Heâd finally fit in with the family! As it is now, weâre becoming the freaking Kardashians with a hint conspiracy theory, Steph!â
Thatâs not the biggest problem, though.
The problem is that Jason doesnât come home on that night.
Tim and Steph wait for hours after Damian finally calms down in his sleeping bag, but the sun rises and Jasonâs room remains empty.
He isnât freaking out, by any means. Jason is an adult man and he can handle himself. He used to go missing by months at a time before moving in with Tim. He must be busy doing Red Hood stuff. He could let them know heâs okay, just for shits and giggles, but itâs alright. He doesnât owe them anything.
On the third day after #isJasonToddAlive went viral, Tim and Steph go on patrol even if itâs not their turn. Itâs a spur of the moment thing, because theyâre home and bored. They agree to split up and just ride around town aimlessly, see what happens and meet at the end of the night to grab waffles at that 24 hour diner Steph likes so much. Â One that Jason first took her to after one particular bad night in which she failed to stop a mugger from shooting their victim.
He is just riding his bike, not paying attention to where the wheels take him. Itâs just a coincidence that he ends up in Red Hoodâs old territory. He hears from some loiterers that Batgirl had been seen roaming around just south from where he is. He keeps his patrol focused on the north side.
A beeping sound informs him that someone is trying to contact him. He accepts it almost right away.
â Jason ?â
âNope, itâs me, Timmy,â Dickâs voice answers.
He sighs. And cringes when he realizes he broke the no-real-names-when-in-uniform rule. Heâs lucky it isnât Batman calling him. âSorry, Nightwing, I thought⊠Never mind. You need something?â
âNo, itâs just that I just got here at the manor. I thought Iâd let you know.â
âOh. Is everything okay? I didnât even know you were coming back.â
âWell, with this whole Jason is alive thing blowing up I thought Iâd come home, help in any way I can. Reporters are driving B insane.â
âUgh.â
âYeah. Also⊠Do you know Jasonâs here?â
There is a beat. Tim presses the breaks with too much force and itâs a miracle that his bike doesnât simply throw him away with how fast he stops.
â What? â
Dick chuckles over the comm. âI figured he didnât tell you. Do what you want with this information. Iâm gonna help Alfred now.â
Tim doesnât bother saying goodbye, but heâs sure Dick will forgive him. Heâs already pressing the buttons on his wrist pad to contact someone else. âBatgirl? Meet me at the cave. Now.â
It takes a lot of effort to stop Steph from storming into the manor through the main entrance in full Batgirl gear. And itâs a good thing Tim managed it, because there is a literal swarm of reporters in front of the gates and Tim wonders if anything happened in the short two hours he was out patrolling.
Once theyâre in the cave, theyâre careful enough to change into civies. Unlike Tim, Steph doesnât have clothes stashed there so she simply steals a sweater from Damianâs locker while Tim checks the news.
âSomeone saw the mystery man that looks like Jason Todd getting into Bruce Wayneâs car two days ago, â he tells her when she comes out of the changing room. âHow did we miss that?â
âI donât know, youâre the tech dude,â she groans. âMaybe we hid so much crap the computer started hiding it from us too.â
Itâs an explanation as good as any other and the truth is unimportant now. They climb out of the cave with unusual care, checking twice to make sure no one is around to see them emerge from the secret passage. As soon as the cave entrance is hidden, they hear altered voices.
Steph reaches for Timâs hand when they walk towards the commotion and intertwines their fingers. One could think the gesture was a request for comfort. Tim had been friends with her long enough that it was a silent plea to hold her back if she needs to fight the urge to dropkick someone.
â... canât simply hide him forever, Brucie!â They hear Chad saying.
Then, in a deep voice that isnât quite Bruce or quite Batman, but that is still firm and definitive:
âIf you canât agree with me, feel free to leave. But stay aware that if you do anything to expose my son to unnecessary attention, I will not take it lightly.â
They walk into the room to find a Chad that looks somewhere between mildly horrified and extremely angry. Bruce is standing against the fireplace and he is definitely using the shadow heâs casting to appear bigger and more threatening, a trick he usually only uses when heâs wearing a cowl.
âWhatâs going on?â Tim asks.
âTim!â Chad turns to him. âGet your father to see reason. Iâve been telling him that this is the perfect time to tell everyone Jason is alive. He wants to⊠to hide him like heâs a dirty secret.â
Tim raises an eyebrow. âWhat does Jason think?â
âJason doesnât know whatâs best, Tim, heâs not okay! He has a gun in your house, for crying out loud!â
For the sake of the intensity of the argument, Tim pretends not to notice the batglare heâs getting from his father and focuses on giving Chad a batglare of his own:
âSo? You have a problem with my brother?â
Steph is squeezing his hand enough to hurt. He isnât sure whoâs holding who back now.
Chad takes a step back. âYou people are insane. Mom was right. Trying to help you guys is useless.â
â Thatâs what youâve been trying to do?â Steph blurts.
Chad shakes his head and storms out of the room⊠And just like that, Chadâs gone. Gone from their lives, hopefully forever, and if not... Tim knows last year Duke learned a lot about restraining orders.
âI was wondering when you two would come pick him up,â Bruce says. âI hoped itâd take a little longer, itâs nice having him home.â
âWhere is he?â
âFirst⊠what is this about a gun?â
âFirst of all, it was Damianâs fault for giving him our address.â Steph shrugs. âSecond of all, the gun is the least dangerous thing in Jasonâs room and right now Iâm more dangerous than any weapon you have, so where is he ?â
âLibrary.â
They bolt out of the room and straight upstairs. Tim is so caught in the relief of the biggest source of problem being gone that he gets careless. Jason always said Tim is too quick to forgive, even if he doesnât forget, and he guesses that is true. When he enters the library and he finds himself facing a startled Jason, heâs not angry. Mildly annoyed, for sure. Relieved that his worst paranoiac fears rooted in PTSD are proven to be untrue. Concerned by the fact that Jason looks almost small, younger, maybe because heâs wearing one of Bruceâs shirts or because his expression is so off guard.
But, most importantly, Tim isnât holding Stephâs hand anymore.
âJason Todd, you mOTHERFUCKER!â
âNo, donât- â
But itâs too late. She leaps and dropkicks him and Jason screams in pain and soon the two of them are literally rolling on the floor yelling insults at each other and knocking an entire table sideways. Tim sighs.
âSay uncle! Say uncle right now, you musky bitch!â
â Itâs musty, dumbass!!â
âYouâre that, too!â
He sits down in one of the comfy reading chairs and waits for them to get it all out of their system. At some point, Steph is straddling Jasonâs back pulling him backwards by the nostrils and he somehow is reaching back to tickle her sides and both of their gazes meet Timâs unimpressed glower. They stop.
âYou two done?â
âShe started it!â
â Bitch- â
âEnough already,â Tim groans. He waits until both look appropriately ashamed and get off of each other. âSteph is right, though, what the fuck, Jason?â
Jason cringes, but still tries to play it cool, as though nothing unusual happened. âThe news had my face, I decided to lay low.â
âAnd howâs that working out for you?â Steph snaps. âIt took us three whole days to find you without actively looking. Bruce found you even before.â
âAlso lay low hiding from what? Us?â
Grumbling something impossible to understand, he stands and crosses his arms in a clear attempt to look tough. In the absence of his leather jacket and the presence of all of Timâs annoyance he only looks stupid.
âLook, I freaked out, alright? Me being found out was my fault.â
âHow the heck is Chadâs stupid selfie your fault?â
âBecause I knew it was a bad idea, okay?â Jason snaps. âI shouldnât have sat there and made dumb excuses, I should have told him to fuck off the moment he saw my gun. I noticed him taking the stupid pictures, but I didnât even care that I could be in one of them, I thought it wasnât worth waking Tim up. All these months playing house and messing around with you guys made me reckless and soft. â
Steph retreats a step as if he had slapped her.
âOkay, Jason, Iâm willing to put up with a lot of angsty bullshit from you, but⊠Is that really what you think of us? That weâre, weâre what, bringing you down?â
âThatâs not what I said!â He runs his fingers through his hair in frustration.
âNo,â Tim interrupts. âHe's right.â When Steph makes to argue, he raises a hand asking her to listen. âYou did grow reckless. Thatâs what youâre supposed to do, Jason. Youâre supposed to relax and have down time and mess around with us. And if shit happens⊠We have each others' backs. Youâd known that if you had come home, because youâd know Steph and I spent the past three days trying to cover for your stupid butt, since we knew youâd want that.â
Jason doesnât say anything for a minute. When Steph doesnât either, Tim continues:
âYou donât have to just survive anymore, you know? I thought you knew that when you agreed to live with us. Youâre family.â
âYou sound like Dick.â
âI mean, Dick was the first person that treated me like family. Maybe thatâs why I was so... Hm. Never mind.â
âYouâre still upset he fired you, huh?â
âNo. I mean, I have been. But I know now it wasnât personal. He was doing the best he could, even if he didnât really understand what I needed back then. I know Dick always loved me.â
âHm. Did you talk to him so he could apologize or did you work all that on your own and forgave him by yourself?â
âNice try, but right now weâre talking about your issues, not mine.â
Because Steph had been awful quiet for a while - which is something highly unusual - they turn to her in question. They find her wearing her furious expression, the one that puts fear for their lives in criminals hearts, but the effect is ruined by the fact that her big eyes are pooled with tears.
âOh shit. Thatâs new. I didnât know she did that. I thought she destroyed her tear ducts when she was a kid or something. What do I do?â
She simply shakes her head. âI get you, Jay,â she says, her voice a bit wobbly. âAdmitting you have something means knowing you can lose it. But is the fear of losing it worth throwing it away altogether?â
Jason pulls her into a hug. She sniffles and rubs her face on his chest, purposefully wiping her runny nose there before she hugs him back.
âI hate you so much, Jason.â
âI hate you too, Steph,â he says softly. âAnd, from the bottom of my heart, my bad.â
She sniffles again. âTim, get your gay ass over here. This is a triple hug situation.â
Tim snorts and mumbles something about the fact that Dick can never find out about this or heâll never forgive them for not including him.
He joins the triple hug nonetheless.
The trio ends up sitting on the floor, their backs resting against the table Steph and Jason knocked over. They learn that Jason had escaped to one of his old hideouts when he heard the news. He was both annoyed and creeped out to find Bruce already there waiting for him and the fucker had the gall to bring Alfred along to make sure Jason wouldnât say no.
In exchange, they tell him Damian was offering to kill Chad on Jasonâs behalf, which makes him bit moved.
âBruce had already said everything you said, by the way,â he tells Tim. âItâs scary how youâre more like him than his own biological son.â
Tim rolls his eyes. âWe said the same thing because weâre right.â
âIt almost sounds like you do want me to go out and tell everyone Iâm alive.â
âI mean, yeah, but that doesnât matter.â
âWait, what?â Steph frowns. âYou want people to know Jasonâs alive? Then why did you make me spend hours sitting in front of a computer hunting tweets about this glorified zombie?â
âBecause if Jasonâs secret goes out, itâs for us, not for him,â Tim says. âItâs a pain to be part of a public family. Weâd get to go out in public without worrying about being seen and to, I donât know, post stupid pictures online, mock old people together in Bruceâs galas, but it also means that he would have to avoid reporters and have a double life like the rest of us do.â
After Tim finishes speaking, Steph nods as if that makes sense. Jason finds himself frowning at his feet.
âIâm gonna do it.â
âWait, what?â
âIâm gonna come out as a living person. Iâll maybe even pepper in the fact Iâm also queer, just to spice things up.â
âJay, you donât have toâŠâ
âNo, I donât. When it was Chadâs bullshit about me having to live my best life, I wasnât going to, but if itâs for you guys, I can do it. Stephâs right. I canât live a half live." His smile twists into something wicked. "And I know exactly how to do it.â
Congratulations, @JasonToddWayne! Your twitter account has been successfully created.
The first and only post is a picture of a man in a leather jacket and sunglasses in the middle of a fancy lobby. Hanging upside down from the chandelier above him is no one other than Dick Grayson-Wayne holding a flashlight right behind the manâs head to simulate a bright aura. Around him, some kneeling, some standing, but all holding out their arms towards him are all of the Wayne kids, Tim, Cassandra, Duke and even Damian. If you look closely, you can see a smiling butler on the background and, further, a shadow that looks very much like Bruce Wayne facepalming.
The caption of the picture simply says: I lived, bitch.
@dgraysonman retweeted that.

The thing about being part of a scandal you purposefully caused is that you get to kick back and watch the world burn around you while you wear an evil little grin on your face whenever people ask what the hell you were thinking. Tim used to get annoyed by interview requests that had nothing to do with WE and everything to do with his personal life, but for once he enjoys watching the messages piling up and eventually saying no to all of them.
Bruce makes a brief and vague declaration about his son being back from the dead, no big deal, and he expects everyone can respect his family's privacy in this delicate moment. He gives the press just enough and refuses to elaborate. Only liars give too many details and theyâre not lying. Not entirely, at least.
Of course, Jason doesnât help by posting the weirdest freaking memes to his twitter account and, whenever someone tries to get answers from his, his retorts vary widely from âI returned from the grave to wash Damianâs mouth with soapâ to âI was captured by a group of murderous ninja that dipped my corpse in a cursed pool that brought me back to lifeâ. Unfortunately, he gets verified and no man should hold so much power.
They return to their lives, Tim in his room, Jason in his and Steph on her couch. Sometimes they even meet in the kitchen to play Uno and prank call Dick - it never works, because Dick always says heâs flattered that they wanted to hear his voice, but itâs the thought behind it that counts.
They go on patrol sometimes. By this time, the public seems to have caught on that Batgirl and Red Robin are basically a duo. Sometimes the Red Hood is included in the mix. For once, Tim doesnât mind that they know as much.
He thinks theyâre heading towards more peaceful days.
DUCK DUCK BRUISE

Jason, Tim and Steph are walking home. Itâs still day and, even if the sun isnât quite shining because this is still Gotham, itâs nice and warm outside. The reason they went to get groceries together is because Jason had been horrified to find out that neither Tim nor Steph knew how to pick fruit and they spent a good part of their afternoon arguing over which apple was the ripest. Tim refused to get out of the shopping cart until their groceries were paid.
It had been fun.
Steph forced them to carry all the bags, arguing that she is but a frail young woman even if Tim is pretty sure she can bench press him. The real reason is because she wants to play Pokemon Go on the walk home and thatâs valid, so they carry the bags. She is one of the few people of Gotham that isnât afraid of getting mugged, so she might as well use that privilege.
A text stops her from catching a bulbasaur right before it stops her entirely.
âSteph?â Tim calls, his brow furrowing in worry.
âItâs happening again,â she whispers.
The brothers approach her to look at her phone. Theyâre already familiar with this at this point, so none of them is surprised to see a headline and a picture.
MYSTERIOUS BOMBSHELL SEEN LEAVING JASON WAYNEâS APARTMENT
Tim recognizes the outfits they wore two days ago on the day he snapped and forced them to take out the trash together, which ended a week long battle of wills. Itâs also the day the biggest bag ripped open and an obscene amount of RedBull cans rolled down the curb. The picture is them watching the disaster. Steph is a pretty girl, but that picture is not doing her any favors. Her face is all scrunched up, as Gothamites tend to be on the rare occasions they see the sun, part of the ripped trash bag still in her hand. Jason has his hands on his hips looking like every bit of the mother hen he is and he is wearing crocs over socks (Tim has sworn to kill Roy Harper for corrupting his brother like that, making him think thatâs an okay thing to do and say disgusting things like just try it, you annoying hipster, itâs comfy. )
âYou know what? They called me a bombshell, Iâm not even mad.â
âHow come itâs Jasonâs apartment? Iâm literally the only person in this household with a dayjob!â
âFirst of all I'm an university student. Second, you only do actual work because youâre a sucker, youâre all trust fund babies. And that includes you, mr. Crime Lord.â
âThank you, miss Eats All my Fucking Food.â
They resume their walk without reading the rest of the article. Tim thinks to himself that this is not too bad. Then it gets worse.
âHey. Are those reporters?â Steph asks. âIn front of our house?â
It only takes a glance to find out that sheâs right. There is a small group of people hanging out near their apartment complex even though thereâs no apparent reason to be there. Any decent Gothamite knows you donât loiter for no reason, because you never know when the freaking Killer Croc is going to randomly pop out of the sewer or some crap. Those people are there with a purpose and that purpose involves a lot of them holding cameras.
âYeah, Iâm out,â Tim says.
âWhat?â
âThis is the first time Iâm not involved in the news. Iâm going to enjoy my immunity. You two are on your own for this one.â
He turns his back to them. Enough is enough. Sometimes you just have to draw a line in the sand, let the universe know what youâre willing to put up with on that day. Tim is not willing to deal with this. He gestures at Steph and Jason not to follow him as he stalks into the adjacent empty alley. He takes a long, deep breath and shouts at the top of his lungs:
âCOOONNEEEEEEEEEEER!â
Tim had never been better, or at least thatâs what he tells himself 50 times in a row. He chose to be in denial and deny he will. He sits on the floor of his best friendâs room and takes a deep calming breath of the fresh air coming through the window. It doesnât smell like gritty cities or nosey reporters at all.
Conner finally comes back and hands him a bowl of popcorn before taking a seat by his side. He turns on the old television in his room. Tim smiles.
âHey, your siblings are on the news,â Conner says.
Tim glances at the phone Conner is holding. Itâs a picture of Steph walking into their building carrying Jason in her arms as one would carry a toddler, one arm supporting his bottom and the other pointing threateningly at the camera. There is no doubt in Tim's mind that theyâre mimicking the meme on purpose. He doesnât bother reading the headline. He doesnât want to know. He simply puts the phone aside and hugs Conner.
âI donât want to go back to Gotham ever again. Let me live here, please.â
Conner laughs. âSure, Maâs been trying to get me to kidnap you for a while now.â
âGood. Iâm going to learn farm work. Iâll bring honor to us all.â
âSure," Conner pets his hair. "Itâs been a whole day now. You already miss Jason and Stephanie, donât you?â
â...yeah.â
âIâll fly you back home tonight.â
âThanks, Conner, youâre the best.â
Despite everything, thereâs no place like home.

Let Emâ Know (part 4)
Previously on Let EmâKnow......(click here for part 3)
Through her paralyzing fear, the woman was confused and gulped loudly. âM-may I ask why what?â
Erik cocked his gun, placing it underneath the womanâs chin and chuckled darkly. âYouâll see why they call me Killmonger.â
*****************
This nigga had you fucked all the way up. The audacity of him doing this shit when he fucking knew better. You highkey wanted to punch him dead in his shit.Â
That fucking liar.
Stephanie observed you as you continued to fold panties angrily and raised an eyebrow.
âYou ok, girl?â She asked in her blaccent and you sighed deeply, looking straight ahead.
âIâm fine, Stephanie.â You looked back down and heard someone walk into the store. âWhy donât you go tend to the customer?â
âMhmmmm I will gladly tend to him.â Stephanie walked away and you shook your head, just wondering why does your manager keep fucking with you by always putting you to work with her. Itâs like she was begging you to clock her shit.
âHey princess.â
You glanced up to see the nigga that got you pissed the fuck off.
âGo away, Erik. Iâm fucking pissed at you.â You huffed moving to the rack of clothes and he followed you, of course.
âWhat did I do?â Erik was genuinely puzzled at your anger towards him. You turned around to look at him.
âYou fucking lied to me. Thatâs what!â
Erikâs heart began to pound furiously against his chest. How the fuck did you know? Shit he was caught and he was going to lose you.
âY/N, I can explain...â he cleared his throat.
You folded your arms, kinking an eyebrow. âYes please explain to me what the fuck was so important you couldnât text me when you got home!â
Record scratch. Thatâs what youâre so mad at him? Erik thought he was caught. He hid the relief on his face and began to chuckle.
âPrincess, a nigga got in the crib and knocked out. My bad. You know how it be like that.â He grinned in realization. âAww you were worried about your man?â
You sucked your teeth as his arm wrapped around your neck. âNo I wasnât.â âSo you admit Iâm your man?â
You sucked your teeth hard. âNo.â
âTook too long to answer, Princess.â
You turned on your heel to head to the back when he grabbed your wrist, caressing it with his thumb by rubbing circles which you didnât wanna admit, made you tingly inside.
âLemme take you out on a date.â Erik told you softly then narrowed his eyes. âAnd I mean an actual date. Just you and me. Not your dumbass friends tagging along.â
âErik!â You freed your hand from his grasp and put it on your hip.
âDonât get me wrong! I fuck with your friends. Theyâre good ass people but those niggas are dumb as hell.â
âYou right.â You mumbled looking away then picked your head up, snapping your fingers. âBut theyâre my dumbasses!â
Erik continued to stare at you, waiting for his answer. You sighed deeply trying to avoid the heat in your cheeks.
âFine. Friday night. Pick me up at 7.â
Erik grinned kissing your forehead. âAight bet.â He went on his merry way and you called after him.
âDonât make me regret it, Stevens!â
Erik turned to face you while still walking away from the store. âYou wonât! And you know you wonât!â
You shook your head, fighting back a smile. You hated to admit it but he was fucking right. You were looking forward to this date and you knew you would have an amazing time. You spent your shift thinking about Erik and what to wear on this date.
************************
Erik pulled up to the abandoned warehouse which was his place of business. Exiting his vehicle, he greeted the men posted up in the front and entered looking for his beloved cousin. When he found her on her laptop sitting next to Klaue, he marched in front of her and slammed her laptop close.
âYo what the hell?!â Soraya looked up at her cousin with furious eyes. âWhy the fuck did you do that, Erik?! I was in the middle of something!â
âI donât give a fuck!â Erik hissed getting in her face. âWhat I do give a fuck about is my girl and imma need for you to leave her the fuck alone. Iâm not playing with you, Soraya.â
Her brows drew together in confusion as Erik sat back. âErik, what the fuck are you talking about?â
âIâm not stupid, So. You think I ainât peep that fucking black Volvo lurking around my girlâs house? That was you and you need to cut the shit.â
Soraya scoffed, getting in his face. âFirst of all, bitch, Iâm not the only one in this damn city that drives a fucking Volvo, aight and second, you think I give a fuck about your love life? I DONâT.â
Erik sucked his teeth loudly and stood up straight. âWhatever. Just stop that shit.â
âKillmonger, sheâs got a point. Thereâs many black Volvoâs in this goddamn city. Could be anyone. Could be an enemy. Could be your girlfriendâs neighbor. All I know is.....â Klaue stood up from his chair and walked up to Erik, coming face to face with a serious expression. âYou better stay focused or Iâll get someone else do your job. Got that?â
âYou canât kick me out of this shit, man. Iâm the best.â
Klaue leaned in. âWatch me.â
With that last remark, Klaue walked out of the warehouse doors and Erik sucked his teeth for the millionth time today and faced his cousin. She was smirking in amusement.
âYouâre Klaueâs bitch. Never thought I would see Killmonger as the white manâs bitch!â
âSoraya, shut the fuck up. His pasty ass is bluffing. Motherfucker knows he needs me.â Erik scoffed then crossed his arms, beginning to laugh. âAnd you really gonna sit here and talk about the White man when your daddy is one? If anything, your moms is one.â
She ceased her laughing fit and rolled her eyes. âFirst of all, I donât claim my white side and you know that. Second of all, thatâs your aunt, stupid.â
âIâm aware. Thatâs how a family tree works, stupid.â
âAnyways, I found another house that needs a repo job. We gotta hit that shit Friday night. We canât go too late because the family-â
Erik put his hand up to stop his cousinâs talking. âLet me save you some time. I wonât be able to hit this lick. Yâall gonna have to do this one without me?â
âWhy nigga?â
âNone of your damn business. Thatâs why.â
Realization dawned on her face and she folded her arms, scoffing out of annoyance. âI know what it is. Your girl. Erik, you canât be seriously neglecting your fucking job for some girl!â
âShe ainât some girl, SoSo. Sheâs my girl. I would quit all this shit right now for her but Iâm not. Iâm just taking a day off. Now get off my fucking back, aight? You keep forgetting Iâm the boss here.â
Soraya let out a sardonic laugh. âReally? Answer this for me, Erik: if your girl found out this shit right here is how you make your living, would she still be fucking with you? If she found out all the dates and gifts you giving her was possible because of you being involved in this shit, will she ride for you?â
Erik just stared at his cousin with his nostrils flaring, his jaw clenched, and his fist closed tight by his side. He honestly didnât know how to answer that question and it really pissed him off.
Sorayaâs tough demeanor softened and she placed a hand on his shoulder. âErik, Iâm just looking out for you. I see you just completely disregarding the mission and I just wanna make sure this broad is worth the distraction. Thatâs all. I just need you to be careful.â
Erik turned his chin, looking at her through narrowed eyes.
âAnd when am I not?â
********************
Friday finally came and to say you were just a mess was an understatement. You couldnât find anything to wear and Erik refused to tell you where yâall were going so you can have an idea. It was beyond frustrating.
âFuck it! Iâm just gonna go naked!â You declared as you flung yourself on your bed dramatically. Neriah, who was already sitting there, snickered.
âYeah do that. Erikâs ass would LOVE that.â
You glared up at her. âYouâre not helping.â You turned your glare to Rayvon who was playing Candy Crush on his phone at your desk. âYou too, Ray Ray!â
He sucked his teeth, sparing you a glance. âGirl, Iâm a nigga. I donât even know why Iâm here.â You stood up walking towards him.
âBecause....â You snatched the phone from his hands. âI need a niggaâs point of view.â
Rayvon gestured towards your other friend. âNeriah eats pussy and plays basketball. Thatâs enough of a nigga for you!â
She got off the bed and tied up her straight black hair. âBoy, I will fuck you up!â
âCan yâall stop?! Please?! I just want to look good for Erik but be appropriate for whatever the hell weâre doing! If you ainât gonna help me, get the fuck out!â After yelling at your two best friends, there was a silence upon the room. You looked between the two of them as it seemed like they were deep in the thought.
Then Rayvon spoke up.
âI got it. Booty shorts and a tank top.â
You shook your head vigorously, pushing both of them towards the bedroom door.
âNo. Get out. Just get out.â
âWhat you mean? That was helpful! You wanted a niggaâs point of view!â
Neriah began to protest as well. âWhat? I didnât even do anything!â
âNope! Bye! Iâll call you when I get back!â
Even though they kept protesting, you continued to push them out until they were outside of your room and you slammed the door shut, locking it. You loved your friends. You really do but Erik was right. Those niggas were dumb as hell. You finally found a red button down sundress and wore it with a light blue jean jacket. You wore black strappy sandals, showing off your pedicure of white toes. You styled your box braids in a high bun and stared at yourself in the mirror. Hopefully, this outfit was good for whatever Erik had planned.
You heard the doorbell from downstairs. You were home alone due to your parents and your little brother going out of state. You wouldâve went with them but you had to work as much as you can before you went back to school. You went to answer the door and on the other side was Erik dressed in a red shirt, light blue jean jacket, black jeans and matching black Jordanâs. You eyed him up and down and he did the same with you.
âSo Iâm guessing you were watching me dress through my window or some shit because Iâm not understanding why the hell are you copying me?â You raised an eyebrow, jokingly.
Erik chuckled showing off his gold fangs as you locked the front door behind you and walked with him towards his car. âPrincess, please. You knew I was wearing this and wanted to match your manâs fly. I ainât mad at you though. Itâs cute. Second best fit you could wear.â
âWhatâs the first?â You asked as he opened the passenger door for you and you got in.
âAhh the first would be some booty shorts and a tank top.â He stared off into space for a bit and looked back at you who stared at him through squinted eyes.Â
âWhat?â
âEither youâre fucking with me or yâall niggas are all the same. Ray told me the same thing.â
Erik blew air out of his mouth, shaking his head. âDamn the one time that nigga says something smart, you donât listen to him.â
âShut up and drive.â
The ride to the secret destination was filled with talking and trap music playing in the background. You didnât know why but you felt a sense of deja vu. Your eyes were glued to your phone when the sight of bright lights caught your attention. You looked up and your eyes dropped. He brought you to the annual city fair. Now you know why everything felt so familiar.
âWe came here on our first date.â You breathed still staring at the light and amusement rides before you.
âIâm glad you remembered, ma. I was scared you didnât.â Erik replied lowly as he put the car in park.
You glanced at him giving him a wide smile. âOf course I remembered. We went again the next after that too. I havenât been here since........â your wide smile dropped. You didnât want to say it.
âSince....?â Erik urges taking your hand and forcing you to make eye contact with him. You obliged with a huge sigh.
âSince you told me you were leaving and we broke up.â You whispered and you could feel Erikâs rising disappointment in himself. âI remember it like it was yesterday. We came to this fair and we were having a good time. Well at least I was. You seemed distracted the whole night. It was bugging me and scaring me. I didnât know what was up with you. I was terrified you were going to break up with me. Tell me you didnât love me anymore and that you had feelings for someone else. We were driving home and-â
âYou annoyed the fuck out of me the whole ride.â Erik took over the story telling. âI wasnât ready to tell you but you kept pushing for me to tell you whatâs up. Then I finally told you that I was leaving. I will never forget the heartbreak on your face. That shit haunted me in my dreams. I never wanted to break your heart and ended up doing that shit. What broke my heart even more was when you said you wouldnât wait for me. You didnât want a long distance relationship. I couldnât blame you for that. It wasnât fair for me to expect you to wait for me but a nigga was hoping.â
You swallowed hard and stared at your fingers. You had no idea that Erik was hurting too during that time. You kept painting him as a selfish motherfucker but he was doing what was best for him which caused you to do what was best for you. What was best for both of yâall ended up hurting way more in the end. You felt Erik grab your chin, forcing you to look in his sincere brown eyes.
âI want you to know that I am really back for good, baby girl. I ainât going nowhere. I mean that shit.â
You found your hands grabbing his bearded face and connecting your lips with his. The two of you kissed for a few seconds before he pulled away, smiling.
âCome on. As much as I rather just kiss you and have you to myself in this car, that ainât a real date.â
As a true gentleman, Erik went around and opened the door for you to get out and you two held hands, entering the fair. You started off on going on roller coasters then hit the games. You two won the games and received prizes. You shared fried dough and ended the night going on the Ferris wheel. You two made out as it went around and the teenagers above you voiced their disgust.
âEww! Get a damn room!â
Erik looked up, shouting. âYou better shut the fuck up and mind your business before I suck her titty on this damn Ferris wheel!â
âErik!â You hissed hitting his arm.
âWhat?! They acting like they never seen kissing before!â
After the Ferris wheel, you called it a night and went home. Erik walked you to your front door and when you went in for a kiss goodbye, he dodged it. When you had a look of confusion, he chuckled holding your hands.
âY/N, Iâm not gonna ask you if youâll be my girl because youâve been my girl. You were just playing games.â This caused you to giggle and he continued with a smirk on his face. âNow will you stop playing games?â
You wrapped your arms around his neck, matching his smirk. âYes. I will stop playing games. Iâm your girl.â
âLet em know, baby girl and say that shit louder.â
You sighed and took a deep breath. You began shouting from the top of your lungs.
âIâM ERIKâS GIRL! IâM ERIK STEVENSâ GIRL!â
Back in the passenger seat of the black Volvo, Damien blew smoke out his mouth and hissed. Seeing your lips on Erik pissed him off. That should be him and itâs going to be him.
âY/N, you donât see that nigga ainât for you but I ainât mad at you, baby. That fuck nigga is a good actor.â He brought the blunt back to his lips and exhaled harshly. âItâs cool because Iâm gonna make you see that that nigga ainât for you. Just wait on it.â
