Happy birthday week!! I couldn’t decide between Eddie and cheerleader!reader or Eddie and innocent!reader so could I request something with one of them for 5. "Stay the night?" with it being the first time Eddie sneaks into their room?
5. "Stay the night?" Hopefully sweetiepie cheerleader!reader will fill your needs! 🎂 join my birthday week celebration! 🎂 masterlist / send me a message Warnings: shitty parents, trauma dump from reader, brief allusion to past bad sexual experiences, extra supportive boyfriend Eddie
"Psst." A hushed voice came from outside your window accompanied by tapping on the glass, startling your nose out of the book you were reading.
"Eddie?" Your eyes widened when you saw your boyfriend standing outside your window.
"Let me in, I'm freezing my balls off out here."
You sighed, getting off your bed to open the window. He climbed through and collapsed on your bed with a groan.
"What are you doing here?"
"You seemed off today and when I tried to catch you at the end of school you'd already left. I called but your mom basically told me to piss off."
"Yeah, she doesn't like when boys call me."
"You have lots of boys calling, do ya?" He smirked when you rolled your eyes, but your heart wasn't fully in it, something he instantly picked up on. "Are you alright?"
It was sweet how much he cared. And he was right, you were feeling a little off. It was time to send in college applications for early decisions and your parents were on your case. They had already made up their minds that you were going to Notre Dame, but you wanted to get out of Indiana.
"Just a little stressed," you down on your bed next to Eddie, and he opened his arms, beckoning you to him. You took up his offer, burying your face against his chest and breathing in the warm scent of tobacco that hung to him.
"What can I do?"
There wasn't anything he could do. Eddie couldn't fight your battles for you. But having him hold you; stroke your hair and pepper little kisses around your face comforting. You wished that you forget about college applications and stay in his arms forever. "Can you just hold me awhile?"
"'course, baby girl." The pet name made you fuzzy. It'd slipped out the first time about a week after you'd started dating. Your relationship was still fairly new, and the butterflies you got from him had yet to stop fluttering in your stomach every time he looked at you. You weren't sure if they ever would. "Do you wanna talk about it?"
As soon as you started talking, you couldn't stop. Years of pent up frustrations and worries spilled from your mouth. All your parents expectations, concerns about never being good enough for them, the constant comparisons to your siblings; you told Eddie everything. And he listened, quietly. Humming acknowledgements at the right moments so you knew he was listening, stroking your arm in comfort when your voice cracked, and kissing your forehead when the tears finally came. You'd never admitted these things before, and to Eddie's credit, he was handling your trauma dump well.
"Baby," he finally said once you went silent. "Have you ever thought about speaking with the guidance counselor? You can talk to me, always, but maybe Ms. Kelly would be able to give you some advice."
He was right. You knew he was right. All that talk about hiding your emotions and working through your issues on your own was rubbish your parents told you to keep you under their control. "I'll see if I can talk to her tomorrow."
"That's a great idea, sweetheart," he pressed a kiss to your cheek, his thumb brushing back your hair.
"Eds?"
"Yeah?"
"Can you stay the night?"
Eddie stilled. Your body was still tucked against him, and you could hear his heart beat quicken. "You want me to stay? Are you sure?"
"Yeah. I mean, I just want to cuddle," you hadn't gone past first base with Eddie. Well, second base if you considered his hand brushing over your clothed breast while you were heavily making out in the back of his van. You wanted to do more, craved it, but you just weren't ready.
"I'll stay," he whispered, his mouth pressed against your hairline. After a moment he added, "you know I'll never pressure you in to anything, right? If all you ever want to do is cuddle I'd be happy." You had told him you'd had a few bad experiences with exes in the past, the same night you had kinda gotten to second base. He'd been more than understanding then, just like he was being now.
You took his hand, twisting the rings on his fingers. "I want to do other stuff with you... I'm just not quite there yet."
"Whenever you're ready baby girl, I'll be here. If it's a year or five, doesn't matter. I'm not going anywhere."

beautiful:
[Veronica]
September 1st, 1989
Dear diary
I believe I'm a good person
You know, I think that there's good in everyone
But here we are! First day of senior year!
And uh, I look around at these kids that I've known all my life
And I ask myself: What happened?
[Kids]
Freak! Slut! Burnout! Bug-eyes! Poser! Lard-ass!
[Veronica]
We were so tiny, happy, and shiny
Playing tag and getting chased
[Kids]
Freak! Slut! Loser! Shortbus!
[Veronica]
Singing and clapping, laughing and napping
Baking cookies, eating paste
[Kids]
Bull-dyke! Stuck-up! Hunchback!
[Veronica]
Then we got bigger, that was the trigger
Like the Huns invading Rome
Oh, sorry!
Welcome to my school, this ain't no high school
This is the Thunderdome
Hold your breath and count the days, we're graduating soon
[Kids]
White trash!
[Veronica]
College will be paradise, if I'm not dead by June!
But I know, I know, life can be beautiful
I pray, I pray for a better way
If we changed back then, we could change again
We can be beautiful
[Hipster dork]
Ow!
[Veronica]
Just not today
Hey, are you okay?
[Hipster dork]
Get away, nerd
[Veronica]
Oh, okay
[Kids]
Freak! Slut! Cripple! Homo! Homo! Homo!
[Veronica]
Things will get better soon as my letter
Comes from Harvard, Duke, or Brown
Wake from this coma, take my diploma
Then I can blow this town
Dream of ivy-covered walls and smoky French cafés
[Ram]
Watch it!
[Veronica]
Fight the urge to strike a match and set this dump ablaze!
[Ram]
Oops
[Veronica]
Ram Sweeney, third year as linebacker and eighth year
Of smacking lunch trays and being a huge dick
[Ram]
What did you say to me, skank?
[Veronica]
Aah, nothing!
But I know, I know
(I know, I know)
Life can be beautiful
(Beautiful)
I pray, I pray
(I pray, I pray)
For a better way
(For a better way)
We were kind before
(Ooh)
We can be kind once more
(Ooh)
We can be beautiful
(Ooh, beautiful)
[Veronica]
Agh! Hey, Martha
[Martha]
Hey
[Veronica]
Martha Dunnstock, my best friend since diapers
[Martha]
We on for movie night?
[Veronica]
Yeah, you're on Jiffy Pop detail
[Martha]
I rented The Princess Bride
[Veronica]
Ho-ho-ho, again? Wait, don't you have it memorized by now?
[Martha]
What can I say? I'm a sucker for a happy ending
[Kurt]
Martha Dumptruck! Wide load! Honk!
[Kurt]
Haha!
[Veronica]
Kurt Kelly, quarterback
He is the smartest guy on the football team
Which is kind of like being the tallest dwarf
[Kurt]
Haha! Alright!
[Veronica]
Hey! Pick that up! Right now!
[Kurt]
I'm sorry, are you actually talking to me?
[Veronica]
Yes, I am
I wanna know what gives you the right to pick on my friend
You're a high school has-been waiting to happen
A future gas station attendant
[Kurt]
You have a zit right there
[Veronica]
Dear diary
Why?
[Hipster dork]
Why do they hate me?
[Republican girl]
Why don’t I fight back?
[Kurt]
Why do I act like such a creep?
[Veronica]
Why?
[Martha]
Why won’t he date me?
[Ram]
Why did I hit him?
[Stoner chick, Ms. Fleming & blow-dried preppy]
Why do I cry myself to sleep?
[Veronica]
Why?
[Kids]
Somebody hug me!
Somebody fix me!
Somebody save me!
[Kids & Veronica]
Send me a sign, God!
Give me some hope, here!
Something to live for!
[Kids]
Ah! Heather, Heather, and Heather!
[Veronica]
And then there's the Heathers
They float above it all
[Kids]
I love Heather, Heather, and Heather
[Veronica]
Heather McNamara, head cheerleader
Her dad is loaded, he sells engagement rings
(I hate Heather, Heather, and Heather)
Heather Duke, runs the yearbook
No discernible personality, but her mom did pay for implants
(I want Heather, Heather, and Heather)
And Heather Chandler, the almighty
She is a mythic bitch
(I need Heather, Heather)
[Veronica]
They're solid Teflon, never bothered, never harassed
I would give anything to be like that
[Kids]
Mm
[Hipster dork]
I'd like to be their boyfriend
[Kids]
That would be beautiful
Mm
[Stoner chick]
If I sat at their table, guys would notice me
[Kids]
So beautiful
Ooh
[Martha]
I'd like them to be nicer
[Kids]
That would be beautiful
Ooh
[Beleaguered geek]
I'd like to kidnap a Heather and photograph her naked
In an abandoned warehouse and leave her tied up for the rats
[Heather Chandler]
Grow up, Heather
Bulimia is so '87
[Heather McNamara]
Maybe you should see a doctor, Heather
[Heather Duke]
Yeah, Heather, maybe I should
[Ms. Fleming]
Ah, Heather and Heather
And Heather
Perhaps you didn't hear the bell over all the vomiting
You're late for class
[Heather Chandler]
Heather wasn't feeling well
We're helping her
[Ms. Fleming]
Not without a hall pass, you're not
Week's detention
[Veronica]
Um, actually, Ms. Fleming
All four of us are out on a hall pass
Yearbook committee
[Ms. Fleming]
I see you're all listed
Hurry up and get where you're going
[Heather Chandler]
This is an excellent forgery
Who are you?
[Veronica]
Uh, Veronica Sawyer
I crave a boon
[Heather Chandler]
What boon?
[Veronica]
Um, let me sit at your table, at lunch, just once
No talking necessary
If people think that you guys tolerate me
Then they'll leave me alone
Before you answer, I also do report cards
Permission slips, and absence notes
[Heather Duke]
How about prescriptions?
[Heather Chandler]
Shut up, Heather
[Heather Duke]
Sorry, Heather
[Heather Chandler]
For a greasy little nobody, you do have good bone structure
[Heather McNamara]
And a symmetrical face
If I took a meat cleaver down the center of your skull
I'd have matching halves
That's very important
[Heather Duke]
Of course, you could stand to lose a few pounds
[Heather Chandler]
And ya know, ya know, ya know?
This could be beautiful
Mascara, maybe some lip gloss
And we're on our way
Get this girl some blush
And Heather, I need your brush
Let's make her beautiful
[Heather Duke]
Let's make her beautiful
[Heather McNamara]
Let's make her beautiful
[Heather Chandler]
Make her beautiful
Okay?
[Veronica]
Okay!
[Kurt]
Out of my way, geek!
[Beleaguered geek]
I don't want trouble
[Ram]
You're gonna die at 3 PM!
[Republicanette & New Wave Girl]
Don't you dare touch me! Get away, pervert!
[Beleaguered geek]
What did I ever do to them?
[Kids]
Who could survive this?
I can't escape this!
I think I'm dying!
[Ms. Fleming]
Who's that with Heather?
[Kids]
Whoa
Heather, Heather, Heather
[New Wave Girl]
And someone!
[Kids]
Heather, Heather, Heather
[Gowan & Coach]
And a babe!
[Kids]
Heather, Heather, Heather
[Martha]
Veronica?!
[Kids]
Veronica? Veronica? Veronica!
[Veronica]
And you know, you know, you know
(Ooh!)
Life can be beautiful
(Aah! Beautiful!)
You hope, you dream, you pray
(Ooh!)
And you get your way!
(Aah!)
Ask me how it feels
(Beautiful!)
Lookin' like hell on wheels
(Ooh!)
My God, it's beautiful!
(Aah! Beautiful!)
I might be beautiful
(Beautiful!)
And when you're beautiful
(Aah!)
[Veronica]
It's a beautiful frickin' day!
[Kids]
Heather! Heather! Heather! Veronica!
Heather! Heather! Heather! Veronica!
Veronica! Veronica! Veronica!
Veronica!
candy store:
Are we gonna have a problem?
You got a bone to pick?
You’ve come so far
Why now are you pulling on my dick?
I’d normally slap your face off
And everyone here could watch
But I'm feeling nice
Here’s some advice
Listen up, biotch!
(I like!)
Lookin’ hot
Buying stuff they cannot
(I like!)
Drinkin’ hard
Maxin’ Dad’s credit card
(I like!)
Skippin’ gym
Scaring her, Screwing him
(I like!)
Killer clothes
Kickin’ nerds in the nose!
If you lack the balls
You can go play dolls
Let your mommy fix you a snack
(Woah!)
Or you could come smoke
Pound some rum and coke
In my Porsche with the quarterback
(Woah! Woah! Woah!)
Honey, what you waiting for?
Welcome to my candy store
It’s time for you to prove
You’re not a loser anymore
Then step into my candy store
(Guys fall)
At your feet
Pay the check
Help you cheat
(All you)
Have to do
Say goodbye to Shamu
(That freak’s)
Not your friend
I can tell in the end
(If she)
Had your shot
She would leave you to rot
‘Course if you don’t care
Fine! Go braid her hair
Maybe Sesame Street is on
(Woah!)
Or forget that creep
And get in my jeep
Let’s go tear up someone’s lawn
(Woah! Woah! Woah!)
Honey, what you waiting for?
Welcome to my candy store
You just gotta prove
You’re not a pussy anymore
Then step into my candy store
You can join the team
(Or you can bitch and moan)
You can live the dream
(Or you can die alone)
You can fly with eagles
(Or if you prefer)
Keep on testing me
(And end up like her!)
Veronica, look!
Ram invited me to his homecoming party!
This proves he’s been thinking about me
(Color me stoked!)
I'm so happy!
(Woah!)
Honey, what you waiting fo-
(Shut up Heather!)
Step into my candy store!
Time for you to prove
You’re not a lame ass anymore!
Then step into my candy store!
It’s my candy store
It’s my candy!
It’s my candy store
It’s my candy!
It’s my candy store
It's my candy store!
fight for me:
holy shit!
Holy shit
Holy shit!
[Veronica]
Why when you see boys fight
Does it look so horrible
Yet, feel so right?
I shouldn't watch this crap
That’s not who I am
But with this kid
Damn
Hey, mister no-name kid
So who might you be?
And could you fight for me?
Hey, could you face the crowd?
Could you be seen with me and still act proud
Hey, could you hold my hand?
And could you carry me through no man's land
It's fine if you don't agree
But I would fight for you
If you would fight for me
Let them drive us underground
I don't care how far
You can set my broken bones
And I know CPR
Well, whoa, you can punch real good
You've lasted longer than I thought you would
So hey, mister no-name kid
If some night you're free
Wanna fight for me?
If you're still alive
I would fight for you
If you would fight for me
[Students]
Holy shit
Holy shit
Holy shit
Holy shit!
freeze your brain:
[J.D.]
I've been through ten high schools
They start to get blurry
No point in planting roots
'Cause you're gone in a hurry
My dad keeps two suitcases packed in the den
So it's only a matter of when
I don't learn the names
Don't bother with faces
All I can trust is this concrete oasis
Seems every time I'm about to despair
There's a 7-11 right there
Each store is the same
From Las Vegas to Boston
Linoleum aisles that I love
To get lost in
I pray at my altar of slush
Yeah I live for that sweet
Frozen rush
Freeze your brain
Suck on that straw
Get lost in the pain
Happiness comes
When everything numbs
Who needs cocaine?
Freeze your brain
Freeze your brain
[J.D.]
Care for a hit?
[Veronica]
Does your mommy know you eat all this crap?
[J.D.]
Not anymore
When mom was alive
We lived halfway normal
But now it's just me and my dad
We're less formal
I learned to cook pasta
I learned to pay rent
Learned the world doesn't
Owe you a cent
You're planning your future
Veronica Sawyer
You'll go to some college
And marry a lawyer
But the sky's gonna hurt
When it falls
So you better start
Building some walls
Freeze your brain
Swim in the ice
Get lost in the pain
Shut your eyes tight, till you vanish
From sight
Let nothing remain
Freeze your brain
Shatter your skull
Fight pain with more pain
Forget who you are
Unburden your load
Forget in six weeks you'll be back on
The road
When the voice in your head
Says you're better off dead
Don't open a vein
Just freeze your brain
Freeze your brain
Go on and freeze your brain
Try it
big fun:
Blast the bass, turn out the light
Ain't nobody home tonight!
[Ram]
Drink, smoke, it's all cool
Let's get naked in my pool!
[All]
Punch the wall and start a fight!
Ain't nobody home tonight!
[Kurt]
His folks got a waterbed
Come upstairs and rest your head
[Ram]
Let's rub each other's backs
While watching porn on cinemax!
[Heather chandler, kurt, ram, kids]
The folks are gone
It's time for big fun!
Big fun!
We're up till dawn
Having some big fun!
Big fun!
When mom and dad forget
To lock the liquor cabinet
It's big fun!
Big fun!
[Veronica]
Ok, ok, ok
So, it's salt, and then lime, and then shot?
[Heather mcnamara]
No, it's salt, and then
[Heather chandler]
You're doing it wrong!
[Veronica, spoken]
Really? 'Cause I feel great
[Preppy stud]
Veronica, you are looking good tonight!
[Veronica]
Whoa
A hot guy smiled at me
Without a trace of mockery!
[All but veronica]
Everyone's high as a kite
Ain't nobody home tonight!
[Veronica]
Stoned. Zoned. I should quit
Hey, is that weed? I want a hit
[All but veronica]
Fill that joint and roll it tight
Ain't nobody home tonight!
[Veronica]
Dreams are coming true
When people laugh but not at you!
I'm not alone! I'm not afraid!
I feel like bono at liveaid!
[All]
The house is ours
It's time for big fun!
Big fun!
Let's use their showers
That sounds like
Big fun!
Big fun!
Crack open one more case!
[Veronica]
I think that's what they call third base
[All]
Big fun!
Big fun!
Big fun!
[Veronica]
That actually looks like
[All]
Big fun!
Big fun!
Big fun!
[Kurt]
Alright, people, listen up!
What is westerberg gonna do to the razorbacks at Sunday's game?
[Ram]
Gonna make 'em go whee!
Whee! Whee! Whee!
[All]
Big fun!
Big fun!
[Heather duke]
Way to show maturity!
[All]
Big fun!
Big fun!
[Heather duke]
Quit it jackass, get off of me!
[All]
Big fun!
Big fun!
[Veronica]
Yo! Ram! Emergency!
I just saw some freshmen sneaking over the pool fence!
[Ram]
I hate freshmen!
Where are you little pricks?
I'm coming for you!
[Veronica]
Hey, are you okay?
[Heather duke]
I didn't need your help
[Veronica]
Aw, thanks, heather, but I don't really have to vomit right now
[All]
The party's hot, hot, hot
It's time for big fun!
Big fun!
[Kurt]
You need a jello shot!
[All]
We're having big fun!
Big fun!
[Heather chandler]
Martha dumptruck, in the flesh
[Heather duke]
Here comes the cootie squad
We should -
[Heather chandler]
Shut up, heather
[Heather duke]
Sorry, heather
[Heather mcnamara]
Look who's with her
Oh, my God!
[All three heathers]
Dang! Dang! Diggety-dang-a-dang!
Dang-dang! Diggety-dang-a-dang!
[Veronica]
I can't believe you actually came
[Martha]
It's exciting, right?
Oh, I want to say hello to ram
I brought sparkling cider
[Heather chandler]
Showing up here took some guts
Time to rip them out
[Heather duke]
Well, who's this pig remind you of?
Especially the snout
[Heather chandler]
Hah!
[All three heathers]
Dang, dang, diggety-dang-a-dang!
Dang, dang, diggety-dang-a-dang!
[Ram]
Where the hell are those freshman?
[Martha]
Hi, ram
I wasn't gonna come, but since you took the time to write that sweet note
[Ram]
What note?
Why d'you gotta be so weird all the time?
People wouldn't hate you so much if you acted normal
There's no alcohol in here! Are you trying to poison me?
[Kids]
Dang, dang, diggety-dang-a-dang
Dang, dang, diggety-dang-a-dang
Dang, dang, diggety-dang-a-dang
Diggety-dang-a-dang!
The folks are gone
It's time for big fun!
Big fun!
We're up till dawn
Having some big fun!
Big fun!
So let the speakers blow
They'll buy another stereo
Our folks got no clue
'Bout all the shit their children do
Why are they surprised?
Whenever we're unsupervised
It's big fun!
Big fun!
Big fun!
Big fun!
Big fun!
Whooo!
dead girl walking:
The demon queen of high school
Has decreed it
She says Monday, 8AM
I will be deleted
They'll hunt me down in study hall
Stuff and mount me on the wall
Thirty hours to live
How shall I spend them?
I don't have to stay and die like cattle
I could change my name and drive up to Seattle
But I don't own a motor bike
Wait, here's an option that I like
Spend these thirty hours getting' freaky
Yeah!
I need it hard
I'm a dead girl walking
I'm in your yard
I'm a dead girl walking
Before they punch my clock
I'm snappin' off your window lock
Got no time to knock
I'm a dead girl walking
Veronica?
What are you doin' in my room?
Shh
Sorry, but I really had to wake you
See, I've decided
I must ride you 'till I break you
'Cause Heather says I got to go
You're my last meal on death row
Shut your mouth
And lose them tighty whiteys
Come on!
Tonight I'm yours!
I'm your dead girl walking
Get on all fours
Kiss this dead girl walking
Let's go, you know the drill
I'm hot and pissed and on the pill
Bow down to the will of a dead girl walking
And you know, you know, you know
It's 'cause you're beautiful
You say you're numb inside
But I can't agree
So the world's unfair?
Keep it locked out there
In here it's beautiful
Let's make this beautiful!
That works for me! Nhmp-
Yeah!
Full steam ahead
Take this dead girl walking
How'd you find my address?
Let's break the bed
Rock this dead girl walking
I think you tore my mattress!
No sleep tonight for you
Better chug that Mountain Dew
Okay, okay!
Get your ass in gear
Make this whole town disappear
Okay, okay!
Slap me, pull my hair
Touch me there and there and there
But no more talking!
Love this dead girl walking
Whoa, whoa! Hey, hey!
Yeah, yeah!
Love this dead girl walking
Whoa, whoa! Hey, hey! Wait, wait!
Love this dead girl
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
Ouch!
Yeah!
me inside of me:
(im at max lemme know if you want the rest of the songs heh...)
I have no words.

Pale 4.7
“Zed told me I need to work with others better.  I’m used to working on my own, and I’ve already decided on the answer.  I could say it, but then I’m not working with the group, am I?”
lol. but also fair. I feel like I've been on Jessica's side of this a few times, and am now getting an appreciation for how annoying it is
That wasn’t wrong, but… it was frustrating, and it was that frustration that seemed to extend from Jessica.  Because Jessica was queer and casually cool, and she explored places.
oh yeah. I hadn't thought of this angle, but I think Jessica might be literally the first other queer girl Avery has ever met. IME that produces a lot of "please recognize me and notice I am also queer and act as though that gives us a connection" feelings. Which can be a lot to put on another person all at once.
And like, okay, Jessica had a girlfriend and she was a few years older, and maybe that got a bit weird, so she was off limits relationship-wise,
it's not (necessarily) about having a crush, just about finding a community
“He was like that with you, briefly.  He likes things predictable.  You’re both… ‘wild’,” Jessica murmured.
:|
"if you three won’t give me data to work with in structuring my lessons, please sit back, be quiet, and don’t engage until I signal it’s okay. The programs I use for the adaptive lesson plan are sensitive." “You could have told her.” “I am not interested in arguing the point, Ms. Kelly.  This works for me and it works for the majority of my students.  The school offers many other learning opportunities for those who don’t like how I teach.”
ok. so an actual explanation for what was going on last chapter. But it still sucks! Feels like the school as a whole is structured for the idea of doing what the teachers say without questioning, which on the one hand is necessary when in immediate danger, but on the other hand is a dick move, and also really exploitable
the pillars of the awakening ritual, fishbone as skull, axe as blade, dog as element of nature, and comb as thread.
iirc they had a rose as element of nature in pact, but none in the awakening in pale. I think I missed that earlier, bc I was thinking of the rose as a personal item. Guess most depictions of the seal of solomon go with a six pointed star, so makes sense that awakening would use six items. And that a "wild" awakening wouldn't need an element of nature
“My mom made Effy on the day I was born. She said if I wasn’t satisfactory as a daughter, Effy would drag out my guts, put them inside herself, take my blood and skin to seal up the doll joints, and replace me.”
WHAT THE FUCK. and this is the woman teaching a workshop right now
I awoke on my own, secretly, then I talked to Effy, and neither of us were sure if my mom would keep me or Effy. So we agreed she’d be my familiar. That way my mom would have to keep us both or destroy us both.
this is fucked up but sweet. binding yourself permanently to the being made to replace you, so that neither of you is disposable... I want an interlude from her perspective
“There is a third type of practitioner-familiar bond.  Not the master, not the partner, but the subservient.  The familiar as an Other, and you as its slave or servant.”
I'd be interested in seeing a consensual mutual familiar bond where the familiar is more powerful. We've seen in Pact that a bond unbalanced in the other way can still be healthy
It was weird that Verona, for once, was super worked up about stuff having to do with the case, if it could be called that.  Except Verona seemed worked up about a bunch of stuff.  Bouncy and hyper and… And happy?
feels bad that happy registers as unusual
But Brie asked questions online before Zed found her, and my would-be successor, who I’m being careful not to name, found one of those dangling threads. He thinks the silence and secrecy is mine, to my own ends, and anything reasonable I could try to use to deter him would only encourage, instead.
not sure how much I believe Alexander here. Getting the Kennet Trio to misguidedly act in his defense seems like a move he'd make. But if this is correct, that could be a serious problem. The better they are at deflecting Bristow, likely the more he thinks its Alexander
Every dealing with him felt like you were at a disadvantage, and felt like you were losing a bit.  And before you knew it, a whole war had happened and you’d lost too many of the battles.
Thinking a bit about how power is not necessarily the ability to win a confrontation, but the ability to set the terms of that confrontation to begin. To pick conditions and setting favorable to you, but also to pick and choose your battles, to set stakes you can handle but the other party can't, to offer terms they can't afford to back away from. Also, on another level, the ability to determine who gets the opportunity to make a challenge, whose demands are even heard or listened to, what issues matter enough to oppose each other over.
We saw this back in Nicolette's interlude, where Alexander creates an environment that pressures her, so that he has more opportunities to intervene and she has less resources to draw on. Then waits for moments where he can offer something she wants, or give aid she desperately needs, all at little personal cost.

My Boys (Chapter 55)
Tumblr media
Series List
Y/n's pov
God, I hate school so much. After being with Ms Kelly for so long and the weird interaction with Chrissy, I make the long ass walk to Family Video. I didn't have work like Steve did but it became a thing that we do. During my free, I would make the long ass walk to Family Video and spend my time there until one of us needed to do something else or Steve could go home. It was perfect because none of the boys could get to Family Video because they were still at school and have Hellfire after school so they weren't here to bug us both. As I see the doors of Family Video come into sight, I run over to them as quickly as my legs could take me.
I open the glass door and the little bell goes off, causing Steve to look up from whatever he is reading behind the counter. He looks grumpy up at me but as soon as he notices it's me, a grin spreads across his face. "Hey Gorgeous, fancy seeing you here,"He says, grabbing onto my hands as soon as I was close enough. "Hey Handsome, how's work been?" I ask, leaning over the counter and kissing him on the cheek. He laughs and says, "Dustin called me." I look confused and jump onto the counter. "What did he say?" I ask, worried that he told him about what happened with Jason. Steve gives me a confused look but continues, "He needed someone to play Dnd tonight." I laugh and explain, "Yeah, Lucas is playing his game and all of the boys have Hellfire tonight." He nods and looks over to the customer that's in the store before asking, "So, none of them are going to watch Lucas play?" I shrug and say, "It's hard. I think Lucas wants to be different but the boys are happy as they are. They wanna support Lucas but you know how Eddie is when it comes to Dnd, it's very important to him." Steve nods and I slide off the counter as the customer walks over.
I stand off to the side while Steve rents the movie for the person and have a small conversation about the movie. For someone who didn't know movies when he got the job, Steve's definitely gotten a little better. Wait. Didn't Steve want to tell me something on our date? Maybe I could get him to talk about it after this customer. The bell rings at the front and I look up to see the guy walking out of the store. I turn back to Steve and give him my best smile. He looks a little scared and asks, "What do you want?" "What did you want to tell me?" I ask, leaning a little further over the counter. Steve looks shocked down and me and looks around the store to see if anyone else is hiding around. "No one is here. You can tell me," I try. "If I tell you what I want to tell you, you have to tell me what happened at school," Steve bargains. I groan and lay my head on the counter.
"Jason tried to get with me again. He grabbed my arm and pulled me in close by the waist. I may have punched him, hence the red hand, and that caused him to push me against the wall. I banged my head against it so that still hurts as well but I'm okay now, I've got you," I blurt out, missing all of the parts about Eddie and the further mental and physical injuries that Jason caused. Steve looks at me with so much concern and worry and moves me over to him. "Are you sure you're okay? Should I drive you home?" He frets, moving his hands all over me to make sure I wasn't worse than I was saying. I laugh at him and grab onto his moving hands. "I'm okay Stevie. Robin got me out of there as soon as she could. Nothing to fret over," I try to calm him down. For some reason that seemed to work and he takes a deep breath in to calm himself.
We stand like that for a little bit. Steve runs his hands through my hair and over my arms over and over. I smile up at him, trying to keep him calm and encourage him to tell me whatever he needs. "I kissed Eddie," Steve whispers so quietly that I almost miss it altogether. "What? When?" I ask, pulling back a little bit. When the hell was Steve and Eddie alone? They can't stand each other when someone else is around, how'd they do it alone? Steve tries to pull further away from me, probably thinking I was mad at him. I tighten my hands around him and pull him close. "Steve?" I ask, looking up into his eyes, watching water slowly fill them. "It was that day he run out of the store. I went to his place after work to make sure he was ok and to apologize for everything that I've done. I did that, and I was looking at him and all I could think about was kissing him. Then I was kissing him and then I started to push him into the couch. I snapped out of it when he moaned and I realised what I'd done. I run away again Y/n," He rushes out, trying so hard to hold back his tears. I brush away a stray and kiss him on the cheek for comfort.
"Oh, Stevie," I whisper and pull him into me. Steve and Eddie kissed again? How can we fix our issues if the same one keeps happening? At least Steve was the one that kissed Eddie and not the other way around. Wait, shouldn't I be upset that Steve kissed someone? I think about why I'm not mad, but nothing seems to come up. All I can think about is us all being together. He clings to my body and tries to control his breathing. "It's ok, we'll fix it. We'll work it out. We'll work it out together," I whisper, running my hands through his hair. He nods and straightens back up, a fake bright smile on his face. "Well, that sounds good." He turns back to the computer and types in a bunch of movies. I sit down next to him and we discuss different ways to fix our Eddie problem, and what we could do for our date tomorrow night.
A few Hours Later (At Sinclair's)
"Okay Y/n. We'll probably be out late tonight. If Erica needs anything we trust that you'll make the right decision. Normal rules, not that there's many of them," Miss Sinclair tells me while giving me a goodbye hug and walking out the front door. "Everything will be all good here. Have fun," I yell out the door and close it behind them. I turn around to breathe and see Erica standing there, staring at me. I jump and yell, "What do you what?" She smiles at me and says, "We need to go to the high school." She walks past me and grabs her shoes to put on. I look confused at her and say, "Your parents said nothing about that to me." She rolls her eyes and hands me my shoes. "Come on, please. They boys owe me for this if I go to this thing," She complains and walks right out the door to my car. I put my shoes on as fast as I can and grab my car keys.
We jump into the car and I give Erica a very stern look. "Why are we going to the high school?" I ask again, not moving until she tells me. Erica rolls her eyes at me again but says, "Hellfire needs an extra player tonight. I said I'd do it if the boys understood that they owe me one." I sigh and start the car, not wanting to go but also knowing I'll get no piece if I don't take her. "God I hate this so much," I whisper and speed out of the driveway. We spend it mostly in silence, Erica looking over her character sheet. Wait, when the hell did she put all of that into my car? "When did you grab all of that stuff?" I ask her, genially confused about how I didn't notice her carrying it all. She shrugs and explains, "I grabbed your keys when you first got to my house. Put it in when you were all in the kitchen." I pull the car into the car park and said, "You can't steal my car keys!" She laughs at me and gets out of the car. I follow after her and notice Dustin and Mike there as well. Oh great.
"Y/n!" Dustin yells and runs over to me, wrapping me in a hug. I look around the empty car park to make sure no one sees us and wrap him in my arms around him. "Hey Dusty. Ready to play some Dnd?" I ask, moving the group towards where I know the Hellfire Club does their sessions. Mike and Dustin nod excitedly while Erica just shrugs. As we turn the last corner to the room I stop. "Well, I probably shouldn't come in. You all got it from here?" I say, moving back towards my car. Erica grabs onto my arm and reminds me, "Mum said not to let me out of your sight. You going to break like the only rule?" I groan and shake my head, preparing to probably be kicked out of the room anyway. "I hate all of you so much right now," I whisper and open the door for the three of them.
When all three have walked past I debate walking away but hear, "Absolutely not," from inside. I know that I have to see what is going on before I walk back to my car. I walk in while Dustin explains, "You asked for a sub. We delivered." I laugh quietly but no one in the room notices that I've entered yet. In front of me is three people that look familiar but I can't place them and Eddie who is sitting on some sort of throne at the head of the table. "This is Hellfire Club. Not Babysitting Club," Eddie snaps a little, sitting forward on his throne. "I'm 11 you long-haired freak," Erica snaps back. It looks like my babysitting duties are in effect. "Erica be nice," I say, causing everyone in the room to look at me. "You aren't my mum," Erica says to me while I make eye contact with Eddie. "Nope but I'm your babysitter for the night, so no need to worry about that Ed," I say to Eddie, giving him a sweet smile. He gives me his signature grin and says, "My, my, the children speak." One of the guys next to him laughs but Eddie just focuses on me. He puts both of his hands on his chair and gets out of it, walking towards the kids.
In an instant I'm right behind the kids, ready to hit. Dustin notices this and places a hand on my shoulder. Eddie looks confused at the act but continues to ask Erica, "So, what's your name child?" "Erica Sinclair," Erica replies back, walking up to meet Eddie in the middle. Eddie chuckles at her and says to the group, "So this is Sinclair's infamous sister." Eddie looks over to me for the same question but I roll my eyes and while Erica says, "He's sharp." Two of Eddie's friends start to laugh and Eddie gives them a glare, shutting them both up right away. "What's your class and level? Level one dwarf?" Eddie asks her, smiling as if he won. I burst out laughing, louder than the other three boys, which catches everyone's attention, except for Erica. "My name is Lady Applejack. And I'm a chaotic good half-elf rogue, level 14 and I will sneak behind any monster you throw my way and stab them in the back with my..." Erica says, seeming to forget a little about the character we made a few weeks ago. "Your poison-soaked kukri," I help out. She clicks over to me, everyone else confused and continues to say, "And I'll smile as I watch them die a slow, agonizing death. So, we gonna do this, or we gonna keep chitchatting like Y/n on a Sunday?" "Hey!" I snap, knowing exactly what time she is referring to.
Dustin laughs while I focus on Eddie's expressions. He looks at her blankly, not looking at anyone else that is in the room. Did she impress him enough? Eddie breaks out into a massive grin and puts his hand out for Erica to shake. "Welcome to Hellfire," He says, still giving her a grin. God I really missed seeing that smile every day. Erica looks sceptically at him but then shakes his open hand. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and move over to a corner to avoid interrupting the game.
"And where do you think you're going L/n?" I hear Eddie ask behind me. I turn around confused and say, "Well, I can't let Erica out of my sight and I am not playing Dnd, so the corner I go," I sarcastically tell him. He shakes his head at me and says, "Nope, either you play or you get out." I groan and start heading for the door before I notice Erica looking a little guilty. "What did you do?" I ask her, earning confused looks from everyone else. Erica starts to look through the stack of stuff she brought with her and pulls out another character sheet. "I may have found this in your car when I was putting things in there," She explains. I look confused and look down at the character sheet she hands me. What the hell? Reading the name off the top of the sheet I notice that it's one that has been in my car boot since I got it. A character that I had made while I was friends with Eddie and Steve still. "I really need to teach you not to steal from people," I whisper, looking over all the information that still has my handwriting, Steve's and Eddie's.
In the corner of my eye, I notice Erica roll her eyes and she says, "You are the one that taught me how to break into things." My eyes snap back to her while Dustin and Mike start complaining with, "How come you never let us do that?" and "I knew you were cooler than what I already thought." "And I said to use the knowledge for good," I say moving in a little closer to the rest of the group. Eddie makes a cough to get our attention and says, "Well if you have a character, what's your name?" I roll my eyes and focus back down at my character sheet. I sigh and say, "Luisa Haell. Level 14, Chaotic Good Half-Elf Sorcerer." I look up at Eddie to find the same surprised and pained look that I had moments before. He nods and sticks his hand out to me and whispers, "Welcome to Hellfire." I nod and sit down next to Dustin and watch as Eddie moves to sit back at the end of the table.
Without any more words, everyone in the room becomes quiet and everyone has their attention to Eddie who's looking at everyone very seriously. "As you all know, you found a group of hooded cultists who are followers of Vecna," Eddie explains for Erica and I more than anyone else. "The hooded cultists chant, 'Hail Lord Vecna.' 'Hail Lord Vecna.' They turn to you, remove their hoods. You recognize most of them from Makbar. But there is one you do not recognize, his skin shrivelled, desiccated. And something else. He is not only missing his left arm, but his left eye!" Eddie dramatically tells us, covering his left eye and hiding his arm. Everyone in the room starts to shout and scream out no while Eddie and I laugh at them all. I really miss watching Eddie be the Dm for Dnd. "Vecna's dead," Jeff yells while Mike yells, "He was killed by Kas." "So it was thought, my friends. So it was thought. But Vecna lives," Eddie tells us all, slamming a Vecna mini on a throne that sits in front of Eddie's Dm screen.
"You are scared. You're tired. You are injured. Do you flee Vecna and his cultists? Or stand your ground and fight?" Eddie dramatically asks us. We all look around, already knowing what we were gonna do. "Come on," Eddie says after too much time has passed. Dustin puts his hand up at him, telling him to hold on. "I say we fight. To the death," Dustin finally says. I nod to his statement while everyone else, one by one, repeats, "To the death." All of a sudden, everyone starts to slap the table while chanting, "To the death!" Over and over. God, I love these kids. Eddie watches everyone do this and laughs affectionately at them, falling back into his throne and smiling at everyone. "Let's do this already!" I yell, grabbing onto one of my dice and smiling over at Eddie. Over the next hour, we all fight Vecna. Each of us throwing out different spells and weapon attacks. Some rolls are a hit while others are a miss. It was a high-price fight and we were all getting into it more than we probably should. But then, are you really enjoying Dnd if you aren't yelling at everything that is happening? When we almost reach the end, everyone was dead except for Dustin and Erica.
"Time out! Time Out!" One of the other members of Hellfire calls. Eddie nods and everyone stands from the table and makes a huddle. I stay in my chair and slightly turn to them, trying to listen and put input in if they need it. "Guys, I hate to say this, but we've got to flee," Another one of the hellfire members says. "I concur," The member who called time out agrees. "Cowards," I whisper while Erica fights, "Didn't we just agree 'to the death'?" I smile at her, very proud of my little fighter. "That wasn't literal," The second Hellfire member argues. "Vecna just decimated us. We can't kill him with two players," A three Hellfire member says. "I beg to differ," I say, looking at the last two players we have on the map. "You know you could be telling them your opinions right?" Eddie snaps, looking slightly annoyed. I shrug and turn back to the rest of my teammates. "Pussies? Really? Cause we're not delusional?" The first Hellfire guy says. What the hell did I miss? "Delusional? How about not cowards?" Erica yells at him and then Eddie yells, "Hey!"
They all break from their circle and look over at Eddie, who's squatting in his chair. "If I may interject, gentleman, ladies. Whilst I respect the passion, you'd be wise to take Gareth the Great's concern to heart. There is no shame in running." Eddie says to everyone, saying the last part to me. "Don't try to be heroes. Not today, kay?" Eddie finishes, giving us all a cheeky smile. Dustin puts up a finger and says, "One sec." I laugh and watch as they all turn back to the huddle. "Guess they don't want to hear your advice," I mock a little, trying to be playful with Eddie again. He just shakes his head and says, "I am not wrong though. There is nothing wrong with running." I shrug, agreeing with him but I say, "There isn't. But staying away always has an impact." Eddie's eyes widen and he starts playing with his d20, avoiding my eye line. I stare at him, wondering what he's thinking about right now but before I can say anything more, Dustin tells Eddie, "Let's kill the son of a bitch." Eddie smirks at them all, forgetting about everything I said while the third Hellfire boy argues, "The chances of success are 20-to-1." So, our normal chances. "Never tell me the odds," Dustin says, causing me to roll my eyes at him. "Give me the d20," Dustin directs to Eddie, putting his hand out for it.
Eddie smirks at him and grabs the d20 he was just playing with, throwing it at Dustin. I quickly catch it in my hand and hold it out for Dustin. "What the hell N/n?!" Dustin yells, snatching the dice from me. I look at him seriously and say, "I've watched you try to catch things since you were a baby. I've thrown dice at you. No way in hell you were going to catch that." Dustin scoffs and goes back to the game. He shakes it in his hands for a few seconds before rolling it over the table. Everyone in the room holds their breath, watching the dice roll over and over, hoping for a good result. It finally stops, landing on an 11. Eddie looks at it and dramatically says, shaking his head back and forth, "That's a miss!" We all yell no and Dustin yells shit over and over. "All up to you Lady Applejack," I say, reaching over the table, grabbing the dice and passing it to her. Erica takes a breath and starts to shake the dice in both her hands. We all watch her, hoping and praying that she gets a hit. The boys start yelling but I couldn't hear anything. We watch the dice roll over the table, waiting for a good result. Erica rolls the dice on the table, stopping on a Natural 20.
All at once, everyone in the room starts to cheer and Erica yells, "Crit hit!" We all jump up while Eddie yells out, "What? What?" laughing at the result as well. "That's why we play," Eddie says, bowing in his usual dramatic fashion and looking right at Erica. I smile at them both before realising my breathing is getting faster for some reason. Without a word to anyone, I quickly get out of the room and run into the hall. I stand against a locker and press my head against the cold door, trying to ground myself. What the hell is going on? I shouldn't be feeling this right now. I open my eyes which I hadn't realised closed and try to look around the hall again. "I'm okay. They're ok," I whisper to myself, hoping that would calm me down. I look off to the side and notice lots of people walking around outside. I wonder how the basketball game went? Without any warning, I feel a small body against my back.
"I'm okay. You can let go," I whisper, hearing my voice break at the end. I look down at the arms around me and notice that it is Erica's around me. "Thank you for taking me out," She whispers. I smile down at her and turn around in her arms. "Anytime, but this does not get to your parents. Do you hear me?" I playfully say, knowing that if she does tell them they wouldn't care. She smiles brightly up at me and nods before running back into the room. I look at the door and take another deep breath to calm down a little more. I walk into the room after a few more seconds and look around to see everyone packing up their stuff, not even looking up at me. I move to where I was sitting and grab my character sheet and dice, everyone else slowly walking out the door. Everyone was still excited about everything that just went down, all of them rapidly talking about it. I slowly follow behind them all, making sure they were all ok.
A hand appears on my shoulder and I look up the arm to find Eddie looking down concerned at me. "You all good there L/n? You spaced a bit at the end there," He asks, the concern still on his face. I nod and look back at the boys, not trusting my voice just yet.

“I tried everything that you told me to do and it’s not working,” you said as you were sat across from your counselor, you raked one hand into your hair as you let out a sniffle “it would also help if my father didn’t come into the picture,”
“Do you know why your father came back?” Asked Ms Mary as she looked at you
“Yeah apparently he getting married next month to his new girlfriend and he wants me to be a bridesmaid for his new wife along with her daughter and the two women can’t stand me,”
“What made you think that they don’t like you?”
“Because her daughter called me to fat and to flat...” you said as you fiddled with your fingers as well as looking at them, Ms Mary sighed
“What I want you to do is take this journal and write in it how your feeling for a month starting now till the mid of next month,”
Ms Mary held out a journal to you, you hesitated before taking it.
“You sure it’s going to work?” you asked before taking the journal Ms Mary smiled at you
“of course, many of my patients use this method and had a 100% success rate,”
You looked at your therapist before taking the journal, you flipped through the pages and saw that they were blank, you looked at Ms Mary
“So what you are saying is write down whatever I’m feeling?” You asked
“Yes for a total of 30 days and then I want you to come back and we will reflect on how writing what you feel has reflected your life,” said Ms Mary “plus it may help if you surround yourself with friends and family,”
______
“Hey Y/n,” said Zack as he approached you, you were standing at your opened locker thinking away, possibly because your fathers wedding was in a few days and you were totally dreading it.
“Hey Zack,” you said in a monotone voice as she shut your locker “what brings you here?”
“Oh I was wondering if you wanted to hang out with me and my friends this Saturday,” smiled Zack as he held his hands in his pockets, awaiting your answer
“Zack I would love to... but I have a thing Saturday,” you said “it’s my father wedding and I’m supposed to be the bridesmaid,”
You looked down before walking away, but a hand stopped you
“Hey if you want maybe me and the gang could come,” suggested Zack “you know to give you moral support,”
You smiled before jumping into his arms giving him a big hug
“You would really do that?” You asked as you pulled away from the hug, Zack smiled
“Of course your one of my friends Y/n,” said Zack as he smiled and waved as he left, at this point your step sister walked up
“How much did you pay for that dude to be your friend?” Laughed your sister
“Leave me alone Natasha,” you said as you walked away
“Oh yeah wait till I tell your father and my mother that you are inviting troubled delinquents to the wedding,”
“Do whatever you want Natasha,” you said as you walked away, that was until she leaned over to her group of blonde friends
“She’s just mad that her daddy loves me more then her,” and with that Natasha laughed loud as she walked passed you
_____
You come straight home from school, passing your mother, but you were forgotten who was sitting in the kitchen with your mother.
Kelly, and Jessie.
You went into the bathroom as you started to break down, you sank to the floor as you held your knees close to your chest, you looked up and saw something shiny.
A razor
You took it but before you could the door opened
“Honey why did you lock yourself in here?” Asked your mother but when she looked at what you held in your hand
“Honey what provoked you to doing this?” Asked your mother, that’s as when Kelly and Jessie approached the scene
“Oh my god!” Said Kelly “y/n you know you can talk to us,”
“I can’t take it anymore!” You shouted as broke down “my father doesn’t even love me, my own step sister tries everything in her Will to get rid of me, and to top it off he’s getting married in less then 2 days to start a new life with his family,”
“Want me to talk to Mark about this?” Asked your mother
“Yeah and it’s not the law to go to your fathers wedding,” said Jessie as she sat next to you
“Yeah but I’m the bridesmaid,”
“Only because your father talked your step mother into bejng one,” said Your mother as she smiled
“And I don’t think it would bother her that much,” said Kelly besides we were going to the mall this weekend...if you want to join us,
You smiled
“I would like to go with you,”
_____
You sat with your dad at the Max with the morals support from your new friends.
“Honey I have better things to do then sit here and eat this burger,” said your father “so if you would please hurry with what your saying,”
“Dad I won’t be attending you and Stephanie’s wedding Saturday,” you said
“What are you talking about of course your coming it’s in Palm Springs,”
“Yeah but why go if I’m not going to be welcomed?”
Your father looked at you before laughing
“Stop joking around,”
“I’m not going and that final,” you said as you got up before walking away
“If you walk out that door.... you are immediately a disgrace to this side of the family,”
“Yeah says the person who was never a dad in the first place,” you said “besides I rather surround myself with people that like me for me instead of people who drag me down,”
And with that you walked out the door with your new friends
———
“Well I’m glad you found a good group of friends with good morals,”
“Yeah I’m not in contact with my dad anymore,” you said “turns out Stephanie was only using him for his money and know they are on the verge of a divorce,”
“Do you feel proud of your actions?” You nodded
“Why of course because if I wasn’t I wouldn’t be the person I am today,”

The Kate Escape
Fandom: Stranger Things Pairing: Lucas Sinclair/Max Mayfield Rating: T Word Count: 1395
Summary: Lucas inhales through his nose, eyes locked on Jason’s. He remembers Chrissy. Whatever happens, Vecna is not getting Max.
Freezing-cold dread, but no clarity: Jason at the top of the attic steps, washed in the electric blue of deep-sea bioluminescence. Crazy, desperate, white-hot fear, but no clarity: Jason jerking the gun up to level it at Lucas’s chest. Clarity: rushing to explain Chrissy’s symptoms and watching Jason’s terrified, wild-animal denial. She would’ve come to him, he’s saying. Well, as someone who’s gotten the relationship thing right as often as he got it wrong, Lucas knows something’s off.
“You knew something was wrong, didn’t you?” he demands. “You knew something was going on with Chrissy!”
Jason scowls and adjusts his grip on the gun, making it waver before he trains it on Lucas again. Lucas’s hands flinch higher.
“No,” Jason insists. “No. If something was really wrong, Chrissy would’ve told me.”
Lucas shakes his head at his former captain in disgust. Why is it that he can see through him so clearly now and yet got fooled all year? Only because he finally wants to? Only because Lucas never would’ve failed Max the way he’s increasingly assuming Jason failed Chrissy.
“She tried though,” he guesses, quieter. “Didn’t she?”
“What the fuck do you know about it, Sinclair?” Jason barks.
“I know Chrissy was a nice person,” Lucas says honestly. “She was a really nice person. You know I was stuck on the bench all season, right? In between cheers, Chrissy used to say hi to me, or, or give me some kind of encouragement. It was more than I got from Coach, or basically anybody on the team except Patrick! Chrissy was the kind of person who was there for people. Why weren’t you there for her?”
“I was!”
“Could you not see that she was scared, or was that normal for you two? Was Chrissy scared of you?”
“Of-of course not!” Jason stammers. His gaze loses its intense focus, drifting from Lucas’s face. The gun droops slightly and Lucas thinks of lunging for it, batting it away. “She had some shit going on at home.”
“What kind of shit?”
Keep him distracted, Lucas thinks.
“I didn’t… I didn’t want to ask,” Jason says.
“More like you didn’t want to know.”
“It wasn’t my business!” Shit, he’s alert again.
Lucas takes a cautious step back, but his words aren’t as careful as his movements.
“She was your girlfriend,” he retorts. “Of course it was your business if she was having a hard time! Didn’t you love her?!”
He wants to look at Max, he wants to look at her so badly, but Jason’s jaw is clenching and he gives the gun an aggressive thrust in Lucas’s direction.
“They were just headaches!” he blurts. “I thought it was PMS!”
“Oh, you fucking moron,” Lucas groans, shoulders sagging.
“Everybody gets headaches! I’ve gotten some pretty fucking bad ones myself recently,” Jason admits, bringing the gun to his chest for a minute as he pounds it for emphasis. “Graduation’s coming up, and the championship game? You think I haven’t been worrying about that? Losing sleep? Getting nightmares?”
“Nightmares?” Lucas stares at him. “Wait, like, bad ones? And headaches?” He shakes his head. “Jason, those are symptoms—”
“I just needed painkillers! Coach told me to go to the school nurse—too chickenshit to give me something himself in case it got him into trouble—but she wouldn’t give me anything unless I talked to a guidance counselor first.”
“Wait,” Lucas repeats, firmly now, and the gun points in his direction once more. “Ms. Kelly?”
“What?”
“Did. You. Talk. To. Ms. Kelly,” Lucas asks slowly.
“Yeah, but it was just a waste of time. I blew off my second appointment. Talking,” Jason asserts with a tense shrug, “is pointless.”
“Talking to you, maybe,” Lucas mutters, before calling out, “VECNA!”
“What the hell do you think you’re doing, Sinclair?”
“VECNA, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!”
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” Jason yells at him, obviously freaked out, the gun like wet silver as the light slides across it, grip braced in both of Jason’s hands.
Lucas doesn’t want to put Max’s entranced body between the two of them, but he moves quickly towards the lantern and Jason follows, just like he expects. The light shines ghoulishly up Jason’s features and everything in his face that Lucas once thought he could trust is long gone; his hair’s greasy and disheveled, his eyes probing, his skin damp and feverish-looking. If this had all gone differently, Lucas might have been able to forgive Jason for being the kind of inattentive jerk who wasn’t there for his girlfriend when she needed him. But that was before this crazed crusade of his—in the name of vengeance for Chrissy, but anyone who knew her at all would know this isn’t what she’d want. Before he pulled a gun on Lucas and treated him like a threat and a stranger. It was before Jason brought additional risk into the last place Lucas wanted Max to go, the place he agreed to only because he was going to keep her safe. Lucas inhales through his nose, eyes locked on Jason’s. He remembers Chrissy. Whatever happens, Vecna is not getting Max.
“Vecna,” he says, coldly calm. “You know we’ll always come after you if you take Max. Do you really want that kind of heat? I know you thought you lost her. You picked somebody else, didn’t you? In case you couldn’t get Max? You made a contingency plan. You found another victim.”
“What the fuck are you talking about victims for?”
In the corner of Lucas’s eye, the blue light dims slightly. Vecna’s on the move.
“Find out for yourself, asshole,” Lucas says, speaking to Jason this time.
Fury tightens the skin around Jason’s eyes and his hand flexes inward, index finger jumping to tease the trigger. Just as quickly, his face goes slack, his eyes losing their fury completely behind a milky screen. Lucas releases a shaky exhalation, then almost leaps out of his skin when Jason’s arm goes limp and the gun clatters to the floor.
“Lucas?”
He spins and Max is looking up at him, expression one of total distress, but she’s alive. She’s out of Vecna’s trance. His foot catches on the lantern as he leaps over the box in his hurry to get to her. He throws himself down on his knees, ignoring the fallen lantern, ignoring the vacant Jason. Max grabs his hands and Lucas tightens his fingers around hers, searching her face.
“Are you ok?” he asks.
“No,” she says. “Yes.” She takes a ragged breath and he feels her fingers trembling before she grips his even harder, with resolve. “How did you get me out? I didn’t hear any music.”
Lucas swivels to look and Max looks with him. Jason’s collapsed, hunched on the floor.
“Shit,” Max says.
“I got Vecna to do it, to do what Kate Bush said and swap your places! I couldn’t think what else to do,” Lucas explains frantically. “I—”
“No,” she says. “I get it. I would’ve done the same thing for you.”
He can’t help the smile that tugs his mouth up.
“Yeah?”
Max rolls her eyes.
“You know I would have,” she says.
It’s kind of a nice moment, Lucas thinks, until Jason’s tugged upwards like a puppet, the toes of his sneakers scuffing across the floorboards. Taking Max by the arm, Lucas helps her as they scramble to their feet and stagger a few steps back as Jason rises to his full height, then higher. His blank expression never changes.
“Do you know his favourite song?” Max murmurs.
Lucas shakes his head slowly.
“No.”
And I wouldn’t play it even if I did, he thinks. Nothing in either of the dimensions he knows about could get him to swap them back, to trade Max’s life for Jason’s.
Because Max doesn’t need to see this—never needs to see what it looks like when someone’s suspended like she was the other day at the cemetery—Lucas wraps an arm around her waist and guides her to the door, only stopping to scoop up her cassette player and headphones. They’ll need these again, but not for this. For other days. Normal days. Days when they’re not pounding down rickety staircases, pretending what they’re hearing is the creak of old wood under their shoes and not the brutal snap of bones breaking in the attic.

Alone Together - Eddie/OC One-Shot Series PRT 6
Prt 1 - Prt 2 - Prt 3 - Prt 4 - Prt 5
I was surprisingly calm heading over to study with Eddie. I kept reminding myself that we were just hanging out, working on school work and that was it. Nothing special. I had seen him earlier in the day but one of his club members said he had taken off early to "prepare for company" which was weird. What could he possibly be preparing for?
I pulled up behind his van and gathered my books from the passenger seat before walking up to the door. I knocked and was immediately met with a crashing sound and a curse.
Eddie open the door rubbing his elbow and I smiled.
"Are you okay?" I chuckled.
"Uh yeah sorry. Tripped over the vacuum cord." Eddie swung the door wider and I stepped inside. He had absolutely been cleaning.
"Welcome to Castle Munson. I tried to clean up a bit so my uncle wouldn't want to wring my neck for subjecting you to our mess." Eddie explained shoving the vacuum into a closet.
"You didn't have to clean up on my account. My room isn't anything to write home about." I found a seat on the couch and Eddie paced around making sure to grab his work books and supplies.
"Can I get you anything? Drink? Food? Are you warm enough? I can get you a blanket or if the air quality is bad, I can open a window?" Eddie's eyes looked like they were about to bulge out of his skull.
"Eddie...I'm fine. Please sit down. Why are you so worked up?" I laughed and Eddie rubbed the back of his neck.
"I just...I don't entertain here a lot." Eddie continued to fidget.
"We could have gone somewhere else if you aren't comfortable with me being here. I don't want you to stress-" I started to get up from the couch and he stopped me.
"It's not about you being here. I just don't usually have girls over. I want you here. I'm just being stupid." Eddie shook his head and I put a hand on his knee.
"You aren't being stupid. I'm glad you want me here, just breathe. I promise not to judge your decor too harshly." I tried to put him at ease and he seemed to listen as his face softened into a smirk.
"Plus it's not like my social calendar is packed with engagements so you don't have to impress me. I'm the one without friends here." I teased.
"Wow Murillo, I'm wounded. We aren't friends? I thought we were bonding through our outcast prerogative." Eddie put his hand on top of the one that I had resting on his knee.
"Oh is that what we're doing? I thought you needed a tutor?" Eddie snorted.
"Let's be real, I'm going to have to give a pound of flesh just to get a passing grade. Tutoring me is just an excuse to get to know you." He nudged my arm and smirked.
"How unfortunate for you because I actually thought you wanted to be tutored." I pulled out blank flashcards and Eddie scrunched his face.
"Don't give me that face Munson. I want you to graduate with me this year so let's leave the pound of flesh and actually come up with a way to make you retain this crap." I started laying the supplies out and Eddie continued to groan.
"You're such a big baby. Come on, I'll make a deal with you. You work with me now and however many questions you get right will be the number of questions you can ask me when we're done." I offered and Eddie moved the pillow from his face.
"Like 20 questions? And I can ask whatever I want?" I rolled my eyes.
"I'm not too worried you'll get 20 but sure, whatever you want. Do we have a deal?" I stuck my hand out and Eddie shook it enthusiastically. I would probably regret this deal but I genuinely wanted Eddie to succeeded and graduate this year. He was really the only person who seemed to actually want to get to know me and be my friend outside of the few people I've connected with through Ms. Kelly.
Flashcards seemed to be working with Eddie. He questioned the method at first but having him actually write things down himself helped him memorize things a lot more than me showing him a card I had made. I noticed the little skulls and guitars he would draw on his cards and I smiled to myself when he poked his tongue out to focus on the drawings. Eddie was smart, he was just distracted easily and high strung.
After about an hour of working on the cards and another hour quizzing him, he managed to get about 5 questions which wasn't great but a decent start.
"I'm never going to get all of this better the end of the semester." Eddie slammed his head on the coffee table and I patted his head.
"It's our first day working on this. Give it some time before you go and cause yourself more brain damage." Eddie lifted his head and glared.
"Laugh it up sweetheart, I may have bombed this quiz but 5 correct means 5 questions." Eddie wiggled his eyebrows mischievously. I started cleaning up the books and flashcards as Eddie settled into the couch.
"A deal is a deal. Let's have it." Eddie hummed trying to figure out what he wanted to know about me.
"What's your favorite cereal?" I had to laugh at the first question.
"What? It's a great icebreaker! Everyone loves cereal!" Eddie defended.
"I love Lucky Charms but I don't eat them with milk. I don't like my marshmallows soggy." I explained zipping the bag and sitting up on the couch next to him.
"Respectable. How about your favorite color?" He was going easy and I knew he was trying to figure out where the line was.
"It's a tie between yellow and green. I thought these questions would be groundbreaking. Are you going soft, Munson?" I narrowed my gaze at him and he took it as a challenge.
"Okay fine, ever gotten high?" He smirked.
"Can't really do a lot of smoking with this whole oxygen set up. Anything stronger would probably kill me. I don't have a ton of luck when it comes to painkillers either." He shook his head in understanding.
"That sucks. I mean you don't have any sort of way to take the edge off of this shit town. That's tragic." Eddie had glanced at his cigarettes but he had yet to actually light one up around me.
"Usually just writing or drawing takes the edge off. I mean if I think about life outside of Hawkins, I still have the same issues dragging behind me so why fight it?" Eddie nodded.
"What do you write?" Eddie was down to two more questions.
"Mostly just journaling my thoughts and feelings. Spending a lot of time by myself gives me time to reflect on how insanely boring of a person I am." I joked.
"I don't think you're boring." Eddie smiled.
"Last question Munson. Make it a good one." I challenged.
"This could make or break our friendship, Dani so I'm going to need you to answer this last question carefully." Eddie sat up straight and leaned towards me. For a moment I thought he was going to kiss me but he paused.
"What is your favorite band of all time?" Eddie's eye contact was fierce but I had to laugh.
"That's not a fair question and you know it! Anything I answer that isn't metal is going to make you lose your mind." I laughed and Eddie pulled the pillow out of my lap that I used to shield myself.
"Come on! I mean it's not like your favorite band is Wham or something...please God say it's not Wham." Eddie's eyes got wide and I shook my head.
"I like a lot of different music. I don't know who my favorite band is." Eddie rolled his eyes at the answer.
"What's a song that always makes you stop and actually listen to it?" Eddie changed his question and I almost wanted to call him out for cheating but I tried to think about a song that I last listened to on repeat.
"Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar." I braced for judgement and Eddie remained silence.
"Not metal but we can work with Benatar. See was that so bad? I told you, I don't bite unless you ask real nice." Eddie winked and I felt a flush run up the side of my neck.
"Next study session bring some of your cassettes over and we'll see if we can introduce some metal into your life." Eddie smiled brightly.
The more time I spent with Eddie, the more I realized he was a really sweet guy. People had no idea what he was really like. It was nice to actually be able to say I had a friend in Eddie but the feeling I got in my stomach tells me friendship was going to be harder than my heart would allow.

Request: “Have Colson(mgk) and reader (who are dating) go on worst first with brittany furlan(lee).LOVE YOUR WORK!!!❤❤”
Colson X Reader
Warnings: Cursing, talk of sex (no actual smut)
Word Count: 1684
Tumblr media
“Hello all you fine folks out there and welcome back to Worst Firsts. Boy oh boy do we have the show for you today. First off, we have my husband, Tommy Lee, with us here.” Colson banged on the table as you gave out a small cheer. Brittany continued, a small laugh sent in your direction, “We brought our favorite Tommy Lee two-point-O Machine Gun Kelly back on the show today!” You cheered for your boyfriend as Tommy banged on the table. “And for her first time on the show, we have the wonderful Ms. Y/N Y/L/N!” Colson shouted for you as Tommy continued banging on the table. “Thank you guys so much for coming, thank you for coming back Colson. I am so excited you guys are here today.”
“I love bein’ here.” Colson said into the mic, shooting Brittany a smile.
“When you asked us to come on, I was so fucking excited.” You said, Colson nodding with you.
“For real, bro. She was off the walls.”
Brittany continued, speaking to her audience, “If you guys didn’t know, Gunner here played Tommy in The Dirt way back in 2019, which released right before you two met, am I right?”
You smiled lightly, a slight heat rushing to your cheeks as the focus turned to you and Colson. Luckily, he answered for you, “yeah, we met literally like maybe 3 days after the premiere. That was such a sick time in my life.”
“Dude, I bet. You release a kick ass movie and then turn around and meet-“ Tommy started, Colson cutting him off to finish his sentence.
“The love of my life, yeah.” You smiled bashfully, Colson’s arm finding its way around you and pulling you into his side.
Brittany smiled at you two, Tommy’s hand reaching over to grab hers under the table. “So, this show is all about first times and, while normally we would talk about worst firsts, I gotta know how you two met.”
“It’s honestly not much of a story,” you began, “Netflix had this party and we were both invited because we both had movies out on Netflix. I went up to him at the bar because I thought he was hot and we started talking and now, uh, we’re here.” Colson nodded as you recounted the memory.
“I was trying so hard not to fuck anything up though, because literally the entire night before she came up to me, I was trying to figure out how to talk to her.” Your boyfriend said, red on his cheeks.
Brittany sent you a mischievous smile, “so what happened after that? Did you give him your number, did he ask you out, something else?” The inflection in her voice and the wiggle of her eyebrows let you in on exactly what else she thought you might have done.
“Something along the lines of something else.” You said, a smile playing on your lips. Colson threw his head back in laughter. Tommy nodded with pride at you two.
‘Speaking of something else.” Colson began, making you look up to him in both confusion and panic, “This is all about worst firsts, right?”
“What are you about to say?” You asked him, a warning in your voice.
He giggled, “remember the first time we had sex in public?”
Brittany’s eyes went wide, “you two did what?”
Tommy asked, “first time?”
You leaned into Colson’s side, a blush rising to your face. “That was literally the most awkward experience of my entire life.”
Colson laughed at the expressions of the older couple, “okay, basically we were on tour in the middle of butt fuck nowhere and there was nothing in this town. No bars, no clubs, nothing.”
You continued his story, “but there was this tiny carnival. So, after the show we went in hope of something fun happening.”
Tommy laughed, “well something fun certainly happened.”
“After about an hour in we were bored and she was only gonna be on tour for a few more days.” Colson said, “so we figured we should make the most out of the lame ass carnival. And then we found it.”
“the photobooth.” You said, watching Brittany’s jaw drop.
“Him, I expect this from.” She pointed at Colson, “but you?”
You giggled, nodding your head, “It was her idea!” Colson exclaimed over your laughs.
“I hadn’t seen him in almost two months and was only on tour for two weeks, I had to make up for lost time and this was the only place that we could get any semblance of privacy.” You said, shoving Colson lightly as he grinned proudly at you.
“Wait so did you two get caught?” Tommy asked, intrigued.
Colson answered, “we didn’t get caught, per say, but as we were leaving this family came up to the booth. And I mean, there’s not a great way to hide that you’ve just had sex. We tried, but people still know.”
Brittany and Tommy laughed, the latter banging his hand on the table as he did so. “The look on that mother’s face. I thought she was gonna call the cops or something.” You said.
“Was it at least good?” Brittany asked to which Colson replied,
“we were in a photobooth, Brittany. No.”
Tommy chuckled, “I’m sure it was better than doing it on the tour bus.”
Your eyes went wide and a laugh tumbled from your mouth as you recalled the first time you and Kells had had sex on the tour bus. “We do not need to talk about that.” He looked down at you as he spoke, a look of warning in his eyes.
“Oh yes we do.” Brittany said, looking at you to speak.
“There’s not much to it, but as I’m sure you can imagine, the bunks are not the most spacious of beds. And Colson here is a six-foot-four giant who barely fits in the bunk as it is.” You began, giggling as Colson’s glare hardened on you. “Let’s just say Kells almost got a concussion because he hit his head so hard.”
Brittany laughed as Tommy spoke, “sex in the bus is difficult, dude. I get it.”
“Why didn’t you just go on top?” Brittany asked you.
Colson grumbled, “because she was “tired from her flight” and “didn’t want to get hurt.”” He used air quotes as he mimicked your words from the night, making Brittany and Tommy laugh.
“I sat on a plane for 9 hours to see you, the least you can do is top.” You said, shrugging as Colson let out a silent chuckle. “But yeah, it was not good.”
You continued to talk about other first times you’d had. You told the couple about your first kisses when you were younger, retelling the story of your first kiss in middle school when your braces got stuck on the poor kid’s lip.
Then Colson recounted the story of the first time you both went out on a boat together. “For context,” you started, “I am terrified of the ocean. I can swim but I refuse to go into any water that isn’t a pool.”
“We were out there with a couple of our friends and she was staying as far away from the edge of the boat as possible. And then some of our homies tried to pull her towards the edge and she freaked the fuck out.”
You pouted, “you fucking laughed the entire time it was not funny.”
“It was!” He exclaimed, “you were pulling away like a little kid.” You glared at him, “but, for the record because people are gonna think I’m a bad boyfriend, I made them stop. And then I dragged her towards the edge myself and made her sit with me.”
You then told the story of the first time you’d gotten a call from the hospital to come get Kells. “I was unaware that this was a normal thing. So, when I get a call at 4 am that he’s in the ER I was kind of freaking out. And then I get there and him and Rook are just sitting there messing around like two little kids.”
Colson chuckled, rubbing his face with his hands, “you were so worried when you first came in and then as soon as you saw us you got so annoyed.”
“What did you guys do that got you in the ER?” Brittany asked.
You deadpanned, “they were throwing knives around and Colson nearly cut off his finger.”
Tommy nodded, “nice.”
After a few more firsts, Brittany asked the final first worst, “what was the first or worst fight you guys got in?”
You looked at your boyfriend, trying to figure out what fight he’d pick. “The first big fight we got into was that night at the hospital that we mentioned earlier.” He said and you nodded in agreement. “Which I was totally in the wrong about.”
“Yeah. We got home and I literally couldn’t talk to him without wanting to scream.” You said.
Tommy tilted his head, “were you mad that he had gotten hurt or that he called you so late?”
You shook your head, “I was more frustrated than anything. Like I was fucking panicking because I thought something really bad had happened and he was treating it like a joke. But we talked about it and obviously we’re fine now.” You said smiling up at your boyfriend.
He grabbed your hand under the table, squeezing gently. “Yeah. That was also the first night I told you I loved you.” He said, nudging your shoulder with his own.
You rolled your eyes, nudging him back, “yeah, yeah. Don’t get all sentimental on me now.” You said, giggling silently.
Brittany and Tommy watched you, smiling like proud parents. “Alright folks, we’re gonna end this podcast here. A classroom visit
Summary: Tom visit your kindergarten class one day to drop off your lunch bag. Now all your students know you date Spiderman
Pairing: Tom x reader
Warning: None
Word count:  1063
Note: Something about the way Tom is with children really makes me soft
Masterlist
“Babe I gotta go to work” You laughed as you pulled yourself from Toms embrace. He had been home for 4 days after being gone for nearly 5 months, and was extremely clingy.  “Call out of work” He whispered as he moved the hair from your neck to place soft kisses on the skin.
You rolled your eyes, “The school won’t be able to get a sub on such short notice” You said grabbing your purse from the coffee table. “I’ll call you on my lunch break. I love you bye” You gave him a quick kiss as you rushed out the door to your car.
///
“Alright kiddos hands in laps for roll call” You said as you grabbed your clipboard to take attendance. The children sat on the carpet talking quietly as you marked down who showed up today. Once you finished you sat down in the large rocking chair in the corner of the room to get storytime started.
“Ms. Y/L/N” You saw Tyler raise his hand, “Guess what?” The 5 year old said with a large smile on his face. You chuckled, “What happened Tyler?” You asked as you picked the book from the bookshelf next to you.
“I saw the Spiderman movie yesterday with Kendra” he said cheerfully as he pointed to his twin Kendra who sat on the other side of the carpet. You laughed to yourself loving the fact that your students loved your boyfriend's movies. “Did you know that I know Spiderman?”
The class gasped as they perked up giving all their attention to you. The children flooded you with random questions ignoring the book that you were going to read.
“Does he smell good?”
“Does he like chocolate?”
“Can he lift me up?”
“I like Ned”
By the time the kids had quiet down it was already snack time. You sighed, putting the book away. “Alright who wants to help me put the snacks on the table” You grabbed the large box of apple slices and grape juice. The children all raised their hands making their way to their seats. “Jason you can hand out the food and Kelly you can hand out the juice”
As the kids began to eat you reached for your phone noticing a text from Tom
You left your lunch bag. I'll drop it off at 11.
You checked your watching seeing that it was already 10:45. The kids took their nap right after snack. As they cuddled in their blankets you heard a soft knock on the door.
“I hope I don’t need a hall pass” Tom joked as he walked towards your desk placing your pink lunch bag next to your computer.  “I'll let it slide this time” He chuckled as he gave you a kiss before sitting down in one of the children's seats. He was so large compared to the tables and chairs around him.
“The kids love the new movie” You spoke as you took a bite out of your sandwich. “Although Kenny thinks Ned would make an even better superhero”
He chuckled and looked around at the sleeping children, “we’ll see if Kenny can say that to my face when he wakes up” The rest of the hour consisted of Tom telling you random stories from him filming on set. Only interrupted when you heard a small scream across the classroom.
“It’s Spiderman” Tyler shouted as he ran pass the now awake children, “Ms. Y/L/N did you call him?”
You chuckled looking at the small child, “No Tyler he heard you saw his movie and wanted to say hi to the class”. The children gasped as they formed a small group around your boyfriend. You looked at Tom with a pleading look knowing he would go along with the story.
“Yeah Happy dropped me off after Ms. Y/L/N called me” He bent down to the level of the children. “Which one of you is Kenny?”
The red head child slowly raised his hand, “I’m Kenny”. Tom moved closer to him, “I heard you like Ned more than me”
The kid smirked, nodding his head, “He’s cooler” Tom gasped, “I’m a superhero”.
Kenny laughed, “I like Ned’s hair”. Tom shook his head in defeat, “Alright you got me there he has really good hair”
You watched as all the children bombarded Tom with questions, “Children if you want to ask Spiderman a question you’re going to have to sit in a circle and take turns”. They did as told leaving room for you and Tom to sit with them. As Tom answered questions, you rested your head on his shoulder. You loved it when he interacted with kids, how gently and wholesome he was. It was one of the many reasons you loved him.
“Are you and Ms. Y/L/N dating?” Kendra asked pointing at the both of you. You lifted your head off his shoulder unsure of what to say, “Yes we are and I love your teacher very much” Tom said as he kissed you forehead.
“Ew” The kids shouted covering their eyes. You laughed checking the time, “Alright kids it's time to go home”
The children sat up in disappointment, “Will you be here tomorrow?” They asked Tom with hopeful eyes.
He looked at you then back at the kids, “Guys I have superhero things to do so I can’t come back tomorrow but if you’re really good I’ll see if I can come back another time”
The children smiled, gathering their things to leave. As the classroom emptied you turned to Tom hugging him, “Thank you for that”
He kissed your forehead, “Anytime darling” He put on his jacket waiting for you to gather your things, “We should have a kid” He said bluntly.
You almost choked on your water, “What?”
He moved closer to you grabbing you hand, “well we obviously have to wait a while and get married first but I want you to have my children”
You stood there in shock not knowing what to say, “is this your way of proposing?”
He chuckled, “I guess it is. I didn’t want to do it like this but it's too late now”. You smiled pulling him into a tight hug while kissing him passionately, “so is that a yes?” He asked looking down at you.
“Yes” You chuckled kissing him again.

Note
you know i really kind of want more eddie and athena content like them making jokes and stuff and Athena absolutely seeing right through his lovesickness just more eddie and athena friendship
Okay I know you didnt ask for it but I actually had this sitting in my wips but it was too short to do anything with SO (and before anyone asks yes it was loosely based on something one of Angela’s other characters said)
i searched for you in someone else and found nothing// ~750 //
“Out of curiosity, why did Christopher come with Buck and not you?” She doesn’t actually look up at him, just checks the bread in the oven.
Eddie glances at her. “Buck offered to pick him up from school.” He hesitates slightly, the knife in his hands stopping just over the pepper on the cutting board. “I don’t know if Bobby told you but the last call we went on… I don’t know, it kind of messed me up.”
Athena nods sympathetically. “I get it. Are you okay now?”
He thinks for a moment, then continues what he’d been doing. “Yeah, I think so. Or I will be. Buck offered to get Chris so I could have a little while to myself.”
“And where’s Ana tonight?” She side eyes him and he freezes again.
“Why do I feel like you already know the answer to that?” He says, pointedly ignoring her gaze as he empties the contents of the cutting board into the salad bowl.
“I heard this story about a fish,” Athena starts, casually filling the bowl with the rolls she’d pulled out. Eddie furrows his brows and leans back against the counter. “It went up to an older fish and said ‘I’m looking for the ocean.’ The older fish looked at him and said ‘the ocean? That’s what we’re in now.’ And the younger fish shook his head and said ‘no, this is water. I want the ocean’.”
She gives him a knowing look and picks up the bowl, heading around the counter to the table.
“Alright, y’all. Come eat!”
Eddie doesn’t move, still trying to figure out the point of the story.
“Eds,” Buck calls, one hand on the back of Christopher’s chair and the other on the empy seat next to the kid. “You good?”
He nods and joins them at the table, taking the seat next to Buck. The blond leans close- brushing their shoulders together and Eddie leans in closer.
Because Buck’s about to say something.
Obviously.
“You didn’t get water.”
Eddie makes a face. “What?”
“That’s why you went to the kitchen, right? To get a drink?”
“Yeah, yeah, I just… Athena needed some help and I forgot.”
“Naturally,” Buck says with a playful shake of his head before getting up.
Eddie rolls his eyes and tunes into the story Christopher is telling Bobby and Michael. Buck comes back a moment later and places a glass of water in front of him and chooses to engage in a conversation with May about her job at the call center.
Eddie opens his mouth to say something but stops. He sees Athena raise an eyebrow at him.
“Buck, what about you and Ms. Kelly?” Bobby asks when the conversation slows.
Buck raises an eyebrow at him and swallows the food he’d been chewing. “What about us, Cap?”
“You two were going steady for a while, weren’t you?”
That makes Buck laugh a little. “No, we weren’t. We’re just friends.”
Eddie tries hard not to roll his eyes and he looks at Athena, who give him an innocent shrug. What is she playing at?
Bobby looks as unconvinced of Buck’s statement as Eddie does but Buck just shakes his head.
“Seriously,” he insists. “It’s just nice to have someone to talk to. Uh, someone outside of work, anyway.”
Eddie can tell Buck’s trying not to look at him.
Oh. Oh, that’s what she meant.
The conversation moves away from Buck’s love life and on to Harry’s latest video game. Dinner lasts a while longer and eventually they move back into the living room.
Eddie leans toward Athena. “What was all that about?” She gives him a confused look. “Bobby asking about Taylor, it just seemed very…strategic.”
“You’re looking for the ocean when you’ve already got it,” she says quietly, gesturing vaguely toward Buck and Christopher- who are playing a board game with Harry and May.
“I don’t-“ He sighs and shakes his head. “I don’t have him, Thena, that’s the problem.”
She turns to him and smiles fondly. “All you have to do is talk to him. I have a feeling it’ll go your way.”
“Hey, Athena,” Bobby interrupts. “Sorry, but can I get your help outside?”
“Of course,” she says, getting to her feet.
“Wait,” Eddie says. “Do you know something I don’t?”
She smirks at him and shoots a not-so-innocent smile in his direction- one that makes hope spark in him like a match.

Pale 6.7
When she’d been asked and quizzed back when they’d started the practice, she’d decided that more than water, than fire, than iron, wood, or air, the element that was most her was smoke. Smoke warned of imminent fire, and smoke lingered after those fires had gone out. Smoke could be abrasive, could be cleansing in some spiritual contexts.
this explains her glamour transformations
Stretching across the line, doing its own writing, was an arm, slender, black-skinned, and prickling with goosebumps.  The nails were like red-tinted crystal framed in metal, the skin had a faint smokey texture to it, and the wrinkles at the knuckle and the crook of the elbow had deeper, almost tarnished texture within them.
this is cool! love the manifestation of the implement
Lucille Desiree Ellingson–-Practitioner and protector of Kennet.
I love the symbolic naming you get in rituals
By default, the most comfortable she’d ever seen him, he had the aura of a blustery, arrogant, alcoholic teacher or principal dropped into the middle of a gang-ridden school to be the counterpoint to the protagonist’s stern-but-gentle, world-wise approach. Man, she hated those movies.
I saw Stand and Deliver at least three times at school
(also, while trying to find that title, I looked up another inspirational teacher movie my school showed us, about teaching shakespeare at a bootcamp, which apparently has a rotten tomatoes score of 12%. why were we shown that.)
By contrast, Ted Havens looked like he’d picked up his clothes at a thrift shop and cut his own hair, but he wore it well.
Aspirational. I have decided I like Ted.
Much like world peace, unity among practitioners is not had by sharing, caring, and a leveling of the playing field.
I love that Bristow is trying to frame Alexander as some naive hippy feelgood teacher, despite Alexander's overwhelming rat bastardness
“Such a one sided education.  More’s the pity, Alexander.” Lucy wished she knew what they’d said. Mr. Hennigar smiled.
oh cool, is the implement ritual retroactively letting Lucy eavesdrop?
You should have been here, Tymon, Lucy thought.  Big brother’s responsibility.  There’s too much going on.
I think Booker set the bar pretty high for older brothers
“I like you too much.  Avery Kelly, I bind you by the names Pam, by Ms. Hardy-”
I'm glad Verona's having fun
She emerged, using the black rope, from smoke and flame, fire licking her as she came at Liberty from behind.
really like this visual, also a neat way of using the rope
“Better for who?  Not me.  My friends are my priority here,” Avery said, unflinching.  “Play your shallow power games with someone else.”
fuck yeah!
“Your intention seems to be that you’re making yourselves very prominent wild cards, and then offering to take yourselves off the table.”
I think being powerful enough to not be worth messing with was exactly what you were arguing for at the beginning of this lesson
“You want me to trust myself?” Lucy asked. “I am an expression of you and your Self.  I am made of the care and attention from two members of your triad.  I am to make you shine, my practitioner.  But you must meet me halfway.  You know too many things and don’t believe them and you think you believe things but can’t know them.  This is like a hurt, a flaw.  At the heart of you.  It threatens to shatter you.  This internal war has settled and gone quiet, this far from home and familiar sentiment, but it’s not silent.  It swells in your heart.  It hurts.” “I tell you nothing you don’t already know.  You have always paid attention. You know you are loved but you don’t believe it.”
i love this so much. The phrasing of "my practitioner"...
And the lesson here! That Lucy does know what's going on, that she's smart and attentive and good at social dynamics and figuring things out. But she second-guesses that, doubts her own intuition and knowledge, and the not-knowing eats her up inside. And since so much of what she deals with are racist microaggressions, she never gets closure on them, never gets a concrete answer of if she as right or just overthinking it.
But when it comes down to it, the people in her life who matter trust her. Not just that they love and support her and are willing to back her up, but that they trust her judgement even when she can't. Avery and Verona don't really parse when what's going on is due to racism in the way that Lucy can see it, but they take her at her word. Her mom isn't always physically present, but she trusts Lucy's judgement. And Booker listens to Lucy talk through her observations, her theories, the doubt that chips away at her, and says "You're right. Stop doubting yourself."
Trust your keen attention, trust your friends to have your back, trust yourself. You know this without hearing it or being told.
“Will you chase that, and run from the question of love?”
feeling a normal amount of emotions about this
Class_RankR.
this fucker again
“I kissed her at the end-of-year party, and I met her eyes and I couldn’t believe how pretty she was.  I’ve been in the same classes as her from the start, how have I never seen her before?”
Wallace's internal monologue giving major romance novel love interest vibes

My Boys (Chapter 53)
Tumblr media
Series List
Y/n's pov
I take a deep breath and push the door open. I've hated coming into the cafeteria ever since we came back to school. Jason had spread more than just the gay rumour around the school. He'd also told everyone that he had slept with me before realising I liked girls. No one in school believed him, everyone knowing my hatred for the boy but the basketball team still believed him like it was real. Which meant walking into the cafeteria to cheering and whistling from the 'wild' time I had with Jason. I just ignore their yelling and cheering and throw them my middle finger and walk over to Robin, needing a little bit of normal for once. I find her in the middle of the cafeteria with the rest of the band around her. I take another deep breath and plop down next to her, squeezing her shoulder to let her know I was there.
She turns to me and gives me a massive smile. "There you are! Where have you been all day?" She questions. I smile back and say, "I have been out back smoking and doing school work. Couldn't handle being around people right now." She nods in understanding and asks, "What about this morning? I couldn't find you after the prep rally." "I was there at the start, watching you play the whole time. But when the basketball team came in I couldn't be in there anymore so I ran out of there. Hid out in the forest," I explain. "None of the teachers saw you leave?" She asks. I laugh and shake my head, "Ms Kelly found me and started asking a bunch of questions. Sadly it set me into a panic attack and I ran off to the woods where Eddie found me." Robin's eyes widen and briefly looks behind me to where Eddie is probably sitting. "What did he do?" She whispers, not wanting anyone around us to listen. "He looked after me. Didn't make fun of me for it and made sure I was ok. But I ended up running away 'cause it was all too much." Robin nods and goes to say something before a very loud bang sounds behind me.
I turn to a loud sound and watch as Eddie jumps up on the table and yells, "But as long as you're into band, or science... or parties or a game where you toss balls into laundry baskets..." He and Jason end up in a staring contest and I turn back to Robin. "So he was nice to you?" She continues. I nod and move around the food sitting on my plate. She grabs onto my hand and whispers, "Isn't that a good thing?" I shrug and shove some food in my mouth, not thinking about what it could be. "I mean, yes but also, what if he's just messing with my head? He hasn't been happy the last few times we've talked." She shakes her head and says, "You say he isn't like that though. He was probably trying to protect his heart from heartbreak again. Maybe he's ready to open up again," Robin tries to reason and I nod, not really knowing what else to believe.
"Hey Robin," Someone next to us says, getting Robin's attention. They talk and I try to focus on my food. Maybe it would be a good idea to go to Ms Kelly later and talk about a few things. It's not like she could make any of it worse. Maybe she'd be able to help with some of it. "Shut up!" I hear Eddie yell behind me. I look over at him and find him in a slightly heated conversation with Dustin and Mike. Oh no, what the hell have these two done now? I watch as Eddie throws food at the boys and laugh at them. It has been really nice to see the boys under Eddie's protection. Although Eddie is still a big target for the basketball team, he really makes sure that the boys aren't a part of any of it. They still get some comments but not nearly as much as they use to.
I snap back to the Hellfire table as I watch Eddie slowly walk around the table and slowly get closer to mine. Just as he faces me he turns back to the boys and walks down before coming back. "Yeah, yeah and I was full of shit. This year's different. This is my year. I can feel it. '86, baby." Eddie looks over to me at the end and smiles softly at me. I try to smile but all I feel is sadness, thinking about all the years I lost with him, all because of something that didn't involve me. I turn to Robin and whisper, "I need to get out of here," and quickly get up from my seat. I don't turn to look at her and just walk away.
Before I can walk out the door, I feel a hand wrap around my wrist. "Hey L/n," The person behind me says. I feel a shiver at the voice and slowly turn to Jason. "What the hell do you want now Jason? Trying to ruin my life some more?" I ask him, wanting to get out of here as fast as I can. He snarls a little at me but then brings back his 'charming' smile. "Come on baby, no need to pretend," He says, pulling me closer by the waist causing me to drop my food tray. I try to stay away from him but he's stronger and pulls me in. "I'm sure Chrissy would love the way you're acting right now," I snap, trying to get out of his arms. "She's fine with it. How about you come on a date with us and you can find out how fine with it she really is," He whispers, getting closer. "In your dreams Carver," I snap, trying to get out. "Come on, come on a proper date with me so you know what a real man looks like. Then maybe you won't like girls anymore," Jason says quite loud, causing the basketball team to laugh. I laugh as well, earning a confused look and quickly punch Jason in the face and snap, "If I was looking for a real man then I wouldn't go to you."
In a flash, I feel someone pushing me against the wall and my head bounces against it. I groan from the impact but still glare at Jason. "Just drop the boy toy, I'm sure I'm better," He whispers. Panic fills my body but I don't let it show on the outside. "I haven't got a boy toy. I just don't want you," I snap. Jason smirks and I feel sick. "I know you're getting some from Steve, or do I need to get you another photo for proof?" He whispers. I glare more at him but notice Lucas moving over to us in the corner of my eye. "Come on man, she's already said no, leave her alone," Lucas tries to defend but I turn my glare to him and snap, "Stay out of this little boy." If everyone wasn't looking at us already, they definitely were now. Jason pushes my shoulder into the wall harder and says something, but I can't focus on anything but the pain.
All of a sudden the pain stopped and Robin was in front of me. "Hey, time to go," She whispers to me and drags me away from the cafeteria. "Robin?" I question, still trying to work out what's going on. "Come on, need to get you to Ms Kelly," She whispers, turning to go to her office. "I don't want to talk to her right now," I snap a little, stopping my legs from walking any further. Robin turns to me and softly smiles. "I know but I think after that, you need to start talking about things again." She says, moving over to me and placing her hand on my bicep. I let out a sigh and ask, "When did you get so wise?" She laughs and rubs my arm. "Since I met you love. Now come on. Let's get in there so we can go home sooner." She tells me, leading me to Ms Kelly's office again. I laugh at her but agree all the same.
Last Period
After an agonizing period in Ms Kelly's office and talking about my stupid problems, she finally let me out of her office. I slightly slam the door as I walk to the bathrooms that are close to the office. I throw the doors open and look around to make sure that no one else is in there. I put my bag onto the sink and dig through the contents of it, trying to find some weed to smoke or something to help me relax more. Once I find a stick, I pull it out of my bag and find a lighter to light the stupid thing. I take a deep breath and turn around to lean against the sink, not a care in the world.
I promised Robin I wouldn't smoke at school but today has just been such a shit day that I need something to help with my nerves. As I take another breath of smoke, the door opens and Chrissy Cunningham walks in. She looks up at me with wide eyes before she closes the door and locks it behind her. I look confused at her and ask, "What are you doing there Chrissy?" She looks back at me with her fake cheerful smile, which looks more forced than normal and puts her hand out for a smoke. I smile at her and dig into my bag for another one. "How have you been?" I ask her as I pass her the smoke. She shrugs and motions for me to light it. I light it for her and watch as she takes a deep breath in as well. "Shit. How was Jason today?" She asks me. I laugh and explain, "Pushed me against a wall. Hopefully didn't injure him too much for the championship game." She laughs and shakes her head. "God I wish he would leave you alone," She whispers to the sky. I nod and take another hit of my weed.
"Hey, I have a question," Chrissy says, turning to face me more. I nod and face her as well. "Where could I get some of this myself? Or something stronger?" She blurts out. I look shocked at her and ask, "Why do you need something?" She looks down at the ground and shrugs. "Need something to take the edge off and want it at my house instead of in public like we normally do," She explains to me. I nod and think for a second. I get mine from Rick cause it's easier and he has the good shit. But he's asked why I haven't gone to Eddie as he is a lot closer and doesn't go to jail cause he's a lot more careful. "I've heard Eddie sells some stuff. He also has his free now if you wanted to get some now," I tell her, still concerned with why she can't just continue to ask me for a hit. She nods and puts out her hit. "Ok, I may catch him now then. See you later Y/n," She whispers and runs out of the bathroom. "Chrissy!" I yell after her, but it's no use. She's already gone.

Chapter 2
_____________________________________________________________
“You know you can get suspended for that, right?” says the voice snidely.
You nearly have a heart attack by the sudden voice, and you almost drop the cig. You turn to face the speaker who turns out to be a long black-haired guy with dark eyes that almost look like they are fully black without any color in them at all, it is Eddie Munson.
“Oh my fucking god dude heard of privacy?” you respond with a bit harsher tone than expected. Eddie looks at you with a mixture of disbelief and shock in his expression, as if he hadn’t anticipated that you could actually talk.
“Well to be fair you are sitting on the bleachers at a HISGSCHOOL football field, how much privacy do you expect to get? And I was just making sure you knew the school policy.” he says in response. There it is again that smug smile on his face as he looks you up and down discreetly.
“Oh and you have a lot of experience with the school policy I presume?” you imply, and you can’t help yourself but chuckle. You look up at Eddie again, he is hopping from one row to another, and you can tell by the look on his face that the previously apparent tension in the air had been lifted by your slight chuckle. He presumes to look deep in his thoughts and find an answer. “You.... you might not be too far off on that one.” he exclaims with a slight smile. You smile yourself, which is then followed by a small 3-4 second silence. Which is already too long and too awkward.
“Uhm... I’m y/n...” you begin to introduce yourself, when Eddie interrupts you. “y/n l/n, right? Back row of Mr. Higgins class?” he says swiftly.   You’re left completely flabbergasted. The shock is clearly visible on your face cause Eddie lets out a small chuckle. Your mouth hangs slightly open, you want to say something but can’t manage to let out anything else besides a scratchy “...how?”. Eddie jumps down to the bench you’re sitting on and slowly comes closer to you. “I notice things y/n, I just do” he says softly as he slowly comes closer to you, once he is about a meter away, he jumps off the bench, sits down next you and give you that smug look again. “Soo, can you spare a poor man one cigarette?” he requests and then continues. “Ms. Kelly caught me by the bikes this morning and now I am forced to live in this terrible nicotine free world” he sighs.
“Uh yeah sure.” you say still a bit disoriented, the cig in your hand has long burnt out. You pick up the pack from your jacket pocket and come to a surprise that there is only one left.
“Oh well that sucks, I can’t take your last one. I’ll manage to get through the day and not kill anyone somehow, what’s a few dead bodies anyway.” Eddie says with a laugh.   Suddenly you feel this slight guilt take over, that it’s your fault that the pack is basically empty and now you can’t give any to Eddie.
“Nah man, fuck it just take it” you say and reach out the pack to Eddie. He reaches out and takes the cig out of the pack and looks at you. “Wanna share it?” he suggests.
“You sure?” you say.   “Yeah, it’s gonna make me feel like less of an asshole.” he shrugs and lights the cigarette. You both just sit there and pass the cigarette back and forth, the slight breeze wrapping you up in the smell of freshly cut grass from the football field and the sun shining slightly through the clouds.
“So, what are you doing here anyways?” Eddie asks you as he is passing the cig back to you. You’re taken a bit by surprise, you take a deep breath, blow the smoke out and pass it back to Eddie. “I... I didn’t feel like doing school anymore, you know?”   “Yeah, I get it, this hell hole is worse than Mordor itself.” Eddie claimed. There was a moment of silence, he turned to look at you and could see the visible confusion on your face.   “Are you serious!? How can you not know.... whatever.” Eddie says with a laugh and gives you a push on the shoulder. “What about you?” you say.
“Huh?” Eddie looks at you confused. “Why are YOU here?” you reiterate and look at him with the smoke from the cigarette in between you. “I don’t know, the same as you. Got fucking tired of this place, needed some fresh or maybe not so fresh air” he says and holds up the cig and then passes it to you. It is almost burnt out, so you take one final puff before putting it out on the bench.   “Ooh what you listening to?” he points to your cassette player with an intrigued look.   You pick up the player and examine it for a second before replying “Uhm, Thriller, right now”.
Eddie gives you a nod of approval before saying “You should come and see our band sometime.” “You play in a band!?” you say surprisingly. “Yeah, I do is that so hard to believe, huh?” he asks, he looks genuinely a bit offended. “You know what, no you’re definitely a band type.” you say with a laugh. “So, what’s it called?” you ask while looking at Eddie who has once again stood up and is walking on the benches. “Corroded Coffin” he says with pride. “We are actually playing by the camp next to the quarry. It’s some shit high school party and parties aren’t really my thing, but a gig is a gig. Beats playing for some drunks at a bar who always look unimpressed.” Eddie explains. “Yeah, that is an upgrade, from a few drunks to a bunch of high school drunks” you say ironically. Eddie gives you a look, he seems both annoyed but also impressed by you.   “But I mean it you should come.” he insists.   “Okay I'll come” you agree.
Eddie decides to leave, whether he’s going back to school or not you he doesn’t say. You decide that you should also probably head back to school before anyone actually notices that you’re not there. You can’t help yourself but to replay the whole interaction again and again and again in your head. You went from being the invisible one as you are used to being, to hanging out with Eddie “the Freak” Munson.
