Vampire!Fictional!George is out here literally YOUNGER than Fictional!Matty who was human up until like two days ago and Fictional!Matty is very disappointed by this discovery. They're not going to talk about the fact that Vampire!Fictional!George's Estranged Great Uncle Ben (who is also still very much alive) was involved with the whole American Revolution situation. Every time I think about Mulan, I get obsessed with how awesome these three are. So I’mma take a few minutes to rant about it.

This three good balls, bad asses, loveable idiots. They’re fricken adorable and I love them. And like, as a kid, I used to not understand how they became friends with Mulan. I thought they were sexist assholes that only trusted her because, well, you know, she saved China.

But I analyzed the movie as an adult, and honestly? I think they knew Mulan was a girl the whole time, and just kinda, accepted it. Still treated her like one of the guys, wanted to see how long she could keep this up for. Yao and Ling most certainly bet on it while Chien-po was probably like: “Shouldn’t we just… tell her we know so she has people to trust?” And the other two were like: Nah this is funny.

I also think Ling and Chien-Po knew instantly since Yao was too mad to be like: Huh… hmm… something’s off here.

They probably told him later. Like:

Chien-Po: You know, it isn’t nice to hit a lady.

Yao: Wow, didn’t think you had it in ya to be such an ass. I mean, he’s a wimp but sheesh.

Ling: *falling over laughing*

Yao: What the hell’s his problem?

Chien-Po: *whispering* I mean and actual lady, Yao.

Ling: And no one tells! Got it? No telling anyone else. Only us three know. I wanna see how long this goes on for.

Chien-Po: Also… They’ll kill her if they find out, and… She’s our friend now.

Yao: Friend’s a strong word… But sure, I’ll keep it to myself. Besides, only I’m allowed to kill them now.

So yeah, when they later heard that Mulan was alone in the bath pond thing, it was too good an opportunity to miss. I don’t think these himbos even considered how weird it was. They were too distracted with how fricken hilarious it’d be.

They know exactly what they’re doing.

Then with ‘A Girl Worth Fighting For’, Ling brings up the song to cheer everyone up because they’re sore, didn’t choose to go to war, and need something, anything to keep them going. Then once Mulan’s line comes up it’s like: “Oh, right. Forgot about that. Whelp, time to continue messing with her.”

Like: Ight, guys. Whatever she says, probably describing herself. So, whatever she says, say Nah. It’s funny.

The main thing that sent me on this tangent, was this scene

Their shock, their surprise, this reaction isn’t an: “Oh shit, we trained/hung out with/bathed/etc with a girl.” Reaction.

This is a: “Shit they caught her and now they’re gonna kill our friend!” Reaction.

Which, yeah, of course it would be. They have their priorities checked out.

However

If memory serves me right there was no hesitation

There was also no hesitation to trust her when no one else would

Because they didn’t have the feeling of betrayal Shane had for being lied to

And they were totally down to dress in drag

They really just couldn’t care less about Mulan being a girl

Just started watching "My Adventures with Superman"

Because I really liked the amerime style and found a feminine tomboy (finally!) romantic interest refreshing. But otherwise I never was interested in Superman. Duh, he is everywhere in the pop-culture, but I don't know his character, his shtick and why people love him for so many years. Never watched any Superman movie or cartoon. Juuuuuuuuust read one bara comic with Batman, but it doesn't count. But wow... oh my... why nobody told me he is such a loveable himbo? Was he always like this? Or is this just a version of him for this show? I mean, logic tells me there must be a reason people love him for decades, and if the reason is him being himbo, gosh, then I could understand it wholeheartedly! Himbos are the best! Clumsy bashful gentle giants, oh my goodness, I'm watching the second episode!

Re-watched the Seirin vs Yousen arc in dub and wow I still can’t believe just how good Howard Wang did when he voiced Himuro and Robbie somehow managed to kill his role as Mura. The drawl out tone, the shoutings and energy Robbie used is quite amazing and always love how his performance bounces off Howard’s performance for Himuro.

The VA's for the main leads and the rest of Seirin are no slouch either. I’m so glad that the voice director for KNB is the English voice for Kiyoshi. There’s something very soothing about Jalen's voice for Kiyoshi and how he can manage to make this himbo a lot more loveable than he is (it’s a really smooth and calming tone but he can make Kiyoshi loud by changing his energy in his voice)

And while I do have some gripes over Zeno's voice for Kagami (I think it’s a tad too deep for a 16-17 year old and I think it’s more of the VA directors who just told him how to voice Kagami), it still works in his favour.

Speaking of, I should let people know that Himuro's VA is voicing this redhead stud in Honkai Star Rail ⬇️

P.S. I’m hoping that the dubbing studios behind HSR can bring in Robbie Daymond cuz he’s a pretty amazing VA with good range and maybe play one of the characters in a future update.

music wise im pretty into nct, i just dont know much about the members themselves/am not able to put names to faces for most of them. honestly had no idea that was johnny when i sent the first reply, but im constantly hearing people talk about how much of a vibe he is so im glad i was able to accurately guess the himbo vibes.

i think jeno, ten or lucas would be my nct bias, simply for the fact there like the only members whose faces i know. but ill for sure be keeping an eye out for jungwoo now. can totally see what you mean by little shit energy, bro does look like an absolute menace. coincidentally i own one nct photocard and ngl i think it might actually be jungwoo? -🪃

Did someone say Hockey AU? Cool, me too. Imagine a fic sort of inspired by Goon, with a young 20-something Johnny Lawrence taking Doug Glatt’s place as our loveable but chaotic local himbo. Johnny loves hockey matches, somewhere he can drink and watch a good fight? Count him in!

Fast forward to Johnny straight up knocking one of the players straight on his ass for being a dick and a minor-league team (AHL level) sees footage of him doing this and decide he’d make a fantastic enforcer to protect the team’s star player, once cocky 20-something Daniel LaRusso (taking Xavier Laflamme’s place).

Imagine Johnny’s shock when he actually starts liking the swift little Jersey punk, finding out that hey, they actually both like karate and REO Speedwagon too, what are the odds? So while Johnny and Daniel work on their partnership on the ice and Johnny shows Daniel he can be trusted to protect him, they’re also starting to fall for each other because wow, they actually make a pretty good team together, what a shock.

John Kreese would probably be the story’s equivalent of Ross Rhea, an old dog in his 40s on his last leg but kicking with his last season. Yes, he was definitely the one to knock Daniel out and make him so anxious, but Johnny thinks he can trust him because ‘the guy seemed nice and we had a good talk’. Obviously Daniel feels betrayed because Johnny knows what the guy did to him and was still friendly with him, and there is our juicy drama!

Looking at your review of the live action Scooby Doo movie, I notice how Neil Fanning's the only one in the main cast whose performance you don't mention. How do you think Neil Fanning did as Scooby? I know he's no Don Messick or Frank Welker but how did his performance fare?

Wow.. I really need to get to monsters unleashed at some point. Not this year, i have other, far more insane scooby related plans.

And that's because.. I didn't realize it wasn't Frank. I should have checked the cast list but I figured I didn't need to as I thought Frank was the only one to actually reprise his roll. Which does speak WONDERS for neil that he did so well in the part I didn't notice he wasn't the genine article. In hindsight, yeah there are some diffrences, but nothing bad. Neil makes the roll his own and still plays Scooby as he should. It also nicely keeps the streak as I feel all 5 actors do a good job.. it's just Freddy's job was to play a dickhead, and that's not what fred jones is. At least not on purpose. His job is to be the loveable himbo whose sometimes accidentally abusive ot shaggy, says treasure weird, have love and talent for traps, be married to his van and according to the most recent series say hold the phone a lot because their trying to make it a thing but theri just streets behind.

Ok so read the new chapters for Good Boy and boy are they as usual great! But I have to ask, between Robby and Miguel, who do you think Johnny cares more for?

I think Johnny loves both Robby and Miguel unconditionally. I don’t think there is anything either boy could do at this stage that would make Johnny not love them.  I don’t think he cares for either of them more than the other at this stage. I think he feels a very deep love for both of them.

However, I think the way he shows his love is very different depending on his confidence in the relationship.   And while I have no doubt that Johnny loves Robby, he assumes it is a one-sided love and Robby hates him. This does not prevent him from loving Robby, but it does mean that he finds it harder to demonstrate his love for Robby - as they are in a cycle of miscommunication and both deeply fear rejection from the other and put up lots of defensive walls.

Johnny  finds openly demonstrating love for Miguel easier. In his relationship with Miguel, Johnny was actually less emotionally invested at the start, and therefore didn’t fear failure, and this actually helped them develop a healthy bond. With Miguel Johnny allows himself to show affection more openly. Also Miguel and Johnny have much better communication. While they make mistakes and let eachother down, this communication helps them work through their issues so much easier.  

Naturally Robby interprets the ease Johnny has in his relationship with Miguel as a lack of love towards him, and that is completely understandable. Because he wants the Dad that Johnny is around Miguel, (the guy who hugs and encourages and jokes), so he angrily lashes out at Johnny whilst seeking his attention which only furthers their miscommunication cycle.

Miguel is giving Johnny good practice at being a caring adult. And practice makes us better at things. I am hoping that Johnny will come to a better place and overcome some trauma and realise that he can give this love to Robby too, and that he can learn to persist despite Robby’s anger at him.  Because he clearly wants a better relationship with his son, and he just has to realise that all Robby wants is for him to step up and try.

In Good Boy, I actually think that what happened in the dojo + Robby finally openly saying that he needed Johnny around and was heartbroken and blamed himself for Johnny’s absence would have shocked this himbo to his core and is a catalyst for his change in behaviour. He’s finally putting in the effort to be a good Dad to his son (constantly looking for him, parenting classes, sobriety and thinking through options for his kid etc).  If anything, in my fic, when Robby is a person again, the attention pendulum will definitely swing away from Miguel and Johnny will be much more solely focused of Robby for a little while.  

Learning how to balance the needs of both these boys and show affection to both of them is going to be something that Johnny needs to learn to do fast.

I’m so glad you are enjoying the story so far. Good Boy is a lot of fun to write. I’ve tried to keep Johnny in character, and balancing hs negative traits with his good traits in this story. (because he does havea good heart, however he is also one of the blondest characters on TV). However, I am working with “What if Johnny actually tried for Robby?” as the premise, which I think makes him so much more loveable - because we just want him to try. Robby deserves a Dad who tries.
