went to see the barbie movie, wearing just about as much pink as i, an all-black-wearing wanna-be-goth, am capable of. featuring glittery makeup, a self-made earring, high heels (a pain and a struggle to walk in, but god i felt sexy), and the fucking widest pants you have ever seen (i could fit both of my legs into just one pant leg, and i have thick thighs)
there was one of those barbie boxes at the theater so i got my dear friend @nuppu-nuppu to take photos of me (and i don't care what anyone says, taking a million photos is perfect because no matter how insecure you are about your looks, there's bound to be at least a few photos that look good, when there's so many to choose from)
as a bonus, here's a video i took to try and look at my makeup, and also to have fun while listening to my barbie vibes playlist
oh yea, and the movie itself! it was good, it was fun, but i was left a little underwhelmed. not because it was bad or anything, but it was exactly what i expected it to be, which left me just a tad disappointed bc i was hoping for it to surprise me somehow. but over all a fun movie :]
#the last time i saw any movie at the theaters was in 2014 so it was pretty exciting heh#tbh i'm not huge on going to see movies at the theaters like i'm perfectly happy just watching them at home on dvd or something#but with barbie i wanted to go to the cinema with friends bc it was a perfectly fun and campy one to go and see and like#dress up all cute and listen to aqua's barbie girl on the way there and just making a whole thing about it#i had a real good time :]#eg posts#eg portraits

Choose your favorite!
Time to fly!
Vote in the other polls!
What fans say:
How To Train Your Dragon:
The message was just nice. I have a lot of nostalgia for it. I used to be a huge dragon nerd as a kid and dragons just weren't that prevalent in media here, especially not as friendly figures. I still love HTTYD and it's sequels nowadays.
It was one of my favorite movies as a kid and one of the few movies I watched that wasn't a barbie movie, it's just really cool.
Best movie featuring dragons period. The pure wish fulfillment fantasy of having a highly intelligent fantasy creature companion that can fly and doesn’t mind being ridden like a horse, therefore also the best execution of the dragon rider trope in all of fiction. Extremely funny, adding to the comedy is the fact that only adults have Scottish accents and all the teens have an American accent. So good that even its tv show follow up was decent by extension. The bit where Hiccup is trying to earn Toothless' trust and they start to work together changed me on a fundamental level.
I LOVE IT SO MUCHSHJKBSKHGDK I have a bone dysplasia which causes some bones to be a little bit more hollow and whenever I would feel a pain in my top back, 8 year old me was like ''woah I'm growing wings its my time to fly like toothless'' lol and it was always a dream of mine to fly. Weirdly enough I could relate to toothless because the "not being able to fly but you should be" felt like an allegory to a lot of my life! It gave me hope when he WAS able to after the help of others + the care he always needed + that mechanic wing thing made me feel like with the right ''recipe'' could help me get better too. My favourite scene is the first flight!! I love the animation for it, it makes me feel like im flying through the clouds too! The soundtrack is amazing too, I still cry to the songs.
I could write an entire essay about how much I love this movie, it truly is one of the best films ever made to me. Utterly flawless on both a technical level and a story-telling level. Not to mention the score oh my GOD the score of this movie changed my life. There are too many scenes that are so impactful, but the Forbidden Friendship scene has to be one of the best. Test Drive too.
This is literally my favorite movie of all time. This movie got me through the worst times in my life. It’s about love and friendship and all that lovely goopy stuff and it’s also fucking gorgeous.
THE cinematic masterpiece of our generation. On god.
This movie is an absolute masterpiece, the animation is pretty, the score is perfect, the relationship between Toothless and Hiccup is so sweet, Toothless is absolutely adorable. Definitely one of DreamWork's best films.
It's a beautifully animated movie about an unconventional viking boy named Hiccup finding his place in a world where dragons and vikings are constantly at odds, and how he changes the world around him. The dragon designs are unique and beautiful, and the vikings are larger than life and match the exaggerated setting.
Who on Tumblr DOESN'T want a dragon best friend I ask you. I would kill to have what Hiccup & Toothless have.
It does a brilliant job balancing tropes in a way that subverts and plays into them. There is so much in it for both adults and kids, it doesn't look like other animated films, it feels more grounded and in that realism it becomes so beautiful. The friendship in the film feels very real despite one of the characters being unable to talk! Forbidden Friendship scene is, in my opinion, the greatest scene in the history of cinema. The music, the lighting, the cinematography, the pacing, the emotions, it is practically perfect in every way. I could go on but I think ya get it.
God this movie defined my childhood and it's still so good when I rewatch it now. I'm guessing you'll have had this submitted a good few times bc it goddamn deserves it but. Hiccup is so relatable and !! dragons !! big cute dragons whose animation models are based on cats!! based fr
I have many fond childhood memories of this movie and in particular I loved how my cousin would "talk" for Toothless (cousin was babysitting us when we first watched the movie). Another thing is The SCORE. The music is iconic and awe inspiring to this day. That first time when Hiccup and Toothless fly together and it Works and the score absolutely goes HARD, I loose my breath every time. It's great. Also have you seen Toothless he's an adorable dragon and a badass, what's not to love?
Makes me cry every time because Hiccup and Toothless are such good friends and they love each other and end up as two halves of a boy dragon soulmate sandwich also the music is extremely good who doesn’t like dragons anyway.
It's the story of a beautiful friendship forming between a boy who doesn't fit in and a dragon who is the last of his kind. It's so cute. And it shows positive representation of disability, Hiccup and Toothless become disabled in ways that meaningfully parallel each other. Hiccup makes a prosthetic tail fin! And Toothless is just so cute!
The sound track is amazing
Honestly everything is phenomenal. It has a good use of comedy and an excellent story and character development. There are also countless beautiful and awe-inspiring scenes supported by an amazing score.
Up:
It is a very emotional movie about an old man learning to still enjoy life even though his wife died.
Such a beautiful film about loss

hello in honor of the new barbie movie can we get a jotarox female reader where she has to beg him to take her to see it and he finally complies and takes her bc he loves her(sorry my english😅) 🙏
you know I was waiting for an ask like this 😬 and i do have something in store for this specific prompt. It's short though, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless ^^ 💕
Barbie Girl - Jotaro x Reader
word count: 811
It’s everywhere and it’s the new big thing. The Barbie movie is out and everyone is hooked into watching it live in cinemas. Everyone included you.
Now, normally you’d have no problem doing exactly that. You could just text your friends about getting together in your rocking pink outfits and watch the hottest film this week, but you had other plans and those plans included-
“Come on~ Let’s watch it together.”
“No. Not happening.”
Wanting to watch Barbie with your boyfriend Jotaro Kujo, who in all aspects, was the most likely to be opposed in watching movies like that. No one’s surprised when you look at him in his dark fits and standoffish demeanor.
But you couldn’t help but try and persuade him anyways while you two were in the comforts of his bedroom. After all, you did manage to convince him to do a bunch of other stuff he wouldn’t do in the past.
“Aw why not?”
“Because I’m not interested,” he said. “Besides, don’t you have other friends who’d be more interested in watching that with you?”
“Well yeah but,” you sighed, dramatically lying down on his sheets. “They’ve already booked their tickets and I told them beforehand that I’d be reserving the movie date with you.”
“So it’s your fault for thinking ahead of time,” Jotaro cocked his eyebrow.
“Yah.” You landed a slap on his bicep. “You should be grateful I’m this considerate for wanting to include and prioritize you in my plans.”
He had the gall to smirk and huff, turning to you to flick your forehead. “Then that’s more of a you problem.” You narrowed your eyes at him with a pout as you grabbed the hand that flicked you. Though with a couple of puppy-eyed blinking and pouting, your boyfriend couldn’t resist but chuckle at your cutesy antics. “But I do appreciate you thinking about me.”
“Does that mean you’ll watch Barbie with me?” You beamed, hopeful.
“No.”
“You jackass.” This time, you grabbed one of his pillows to throw at his smug smile. Not like it did anything since he caught it with one hand. “Ahh what will it take to convince you to watch one movie with me?”
He leaned back onto his headboard with his arms crossed, proud of his stubborn decision. “I told you. I’m not going to watch the movie.”
“Oh yeah?” It was your turn to smirk. You got on all fours and prowled your way up his bed until you settled yourself on his lap. “Not even when I give you a bunch of these?” To demonstrate, you cupped his cheeks and planted a couple of light kisses on his forehead, nose, temples, and lips.
Especially the lips where you kept on returning to for two to three more smooches. Can you blame yourself? When Jotaro tend to reciprocate your affections when it’s just the two of you around? More so when his arms would wrap around you as a go signal to continue?
But you drew back eventually, slightly breathless. “Still?”
He tilted his head, smugness still present. “Still not watching. You know those won’t work on me.”
“Watch it if you love me.”
“You’d break up with me if I still say no?”
You pouted. “No…”
“Cute.”
This time, you groaned and dropped your head on his shoulder. “Come on~ Why are you so against watching Barbie?” You whined. “Can you not be the Ken to my Barbie for just 2 hours?”
“Hmm… on one condition.”
You widened your eyes at the suggestion and pushed yourself upright, still on him. “What? What is it?”
“We get to watch Oppenheimer too.”
“Oppen-” You let the name replay before you made the prolonged “ahhh” sound of recognition. “That’s it?! You could’ve just said that in the beginning and I’ll be more than willing to watch that movie with you!”
“You didn’t look the type to watch a biopic about a man inventing nuclear bombs.”
“Well you didn’t look the type to watch anything hot pink and glitter adjacent but I still asked anyways.”
But with you accepting his condition, that meant one thing. “So… does that mean you’ll finally watch my movie?”
Jotaro stared at you for a full minute before sighing heavily. “Fine. One time only.”
“Deal!” You thanked your boyfriend with one more kiss on his lips before getting up. Immediately, you opened his wardrobe. “Now let’s look for something pink that you can wear-”
“Oi, since when did I say I’d wear pink?”
“We have to be in theme, love! Besides, you can still wear black with it because of Mr. Oppenheimer.” You shuffled through his clothes. “Now, I did remember you having one the other time…”
You heard him scoff in the back, though his next words were that of fond annoyance. “You’re going to be the death of me, woman.”
“Drama king.”

Kirk at the Movies 🎬
So my last post about going to see Barbie and not knowing what snacks to take had me thinking about what Kirk's like at the cinema...
You didn't ask but I will provide anyway.
Alone (80s)
Definitely researching everything about the movie beforehand, incl related to his viewing experience, such as runtime, inquiring as to how booked his preferred screening is and holding off until it's the ideal audience size, knowing in his head when the busiest/kid-heavy showings are, etc.
Will bring snacks and will bring the same snacks every time.
Throwing daggers at ppl who won't be quiet but not being brave enough to tell them himself.
Member card holder.
With friends (any age)
I feel like he wouldn't go and watch a film with the band bc he has his horror friends for outings like this.
Absolutely going somewhere for food afterwards just to fanboy over every detail.
Probably has a joint membership thing so they all get Tuesday afternoons half price or something lol.
With a date (80s/90s)
Def wants to show off his horror taste and hope she'll be into it too so he can share how much he knows about it. If she is, it quickly devolves into excited info dumping bc he loves it so much and he latches on to anyone who gives him interested vibes.
Also thinks he's slick bc with horror he can almost always use the arm round the shoulder "don't be scared, I've got you" move.
With his gf (current)
I'm imagining older Kirk here and feel like he books out special indie picture houses just for the two of them, with practically an entire buffet laid out.

Some positive things, widespread and personal, from 2023
Hello all here's my annual good things roundup, and as always I'll be missing a good lot of stuff that happened bc I'm pulling from the top of my head and also I'm running late.
In no particular order:
Some great indie animation stuff this year, with Hazbin Hotel news and episodes of Helluva Boss continuing and then the Lackadaisy pilot and fundraising campaign success!
Got the end of The Owl House early in 2023, and while it was not the ending we all would have hoped for, it was an incredible ending all the same and absolutely so well made.
Avatar: The Last Airbender has a new official TTRPG game, several of the OG cast did a playthrough of it, AND the trailer for the live action TV series doesn't look half bad! Also, Toph's VA has been reacting to the series. Overall it's been a great year for ATLA fans.
CLAMP announced that the continuation of the CCS Clear Card anime is on its way, and the Clear Card manga finished this year! The kids are okay!
Game movie wins! Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, along with The Super Mario Bros. Movie, were both great adaptations and fun movies where previously adapted movies of the same properties were so awful they make Artemis Fowl look barely passable!
Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse was super freaking incredible cinema and stupendous animation and score. And the animators got a break from having to cram the Beyond the Spiderverse movie in a year jfc.
The WGA and SAGAFTRA strikes I wouldn't consider positives on their own; however, the overwhelming solidarity across the lines and from us the fans and everyone in the same working boat helped the WGA and SAGAFTRA strikers stick it to the studio execs being literal cartoonish villains and get the things they were asking for after a brutally long strike period where the studio execs absolutely wanted them all to lose their homes and suffer. Power to the workers! WGA and SAGAFTRA strong!
BARBIE. No notes. 100000/10. You go girl.
But also the meme of Barbenheimer, absolutely genius.
GOOD OMENS SEASON 2!!!! HOOO BOY Neil Gaiman really shook us to the core with these ineffable celestial lads
The Marvels was a lot of fun! Kamala Khan and adult Monica Rambeau finally got to the big screen and they were so good altogether with Carol Danvers! Sadly didn't get great box office, but the movie itself being good makes up for that in my eyes!
Wonka was also a lot better than expected! Very fun and wholesome and heartwarming! Not bad Timothee Chalamet, not bad.
Critical Role's The Legend of Vox Machina season 2 was incredible, and a Mighty Nein animated series was also announced to be in the works! Plus, we got a Mighty Nein live show in London! And Candela Obscura premiered this year as well! And the Exquisite Exandria cookbook dropped in August and it's been so amazing.
Dimension 20 has been popping off this year as well, and several of its cast started Worlds Beyond Number, which is on a whole other level of inspirational and awesome.
On some personal notes, I got to spend time with good friends this past year (and getting one into TLOVM and Critical Role too, which has been fun)
And in that vein, I got into a bonafide Dungeons and Dragons campaign this summer, based from a oneshot I played in April by putting myself out there and trying something new. And man, this campaign has been one of the best things in 2023 let alone maybe my whole life. I'm so grateful to be a part of it and to keep going.
And this past summer, I got to go to a convention and meet several of my favorite actors including the cast of Smallville, Charlie Cox, Dante Basco, and Jason Liebrecht! It was so much fun.
I spent my birthday with my whole immediate family and went to Disney Hollywood Studios and had such a blast!
And I started more actively sending my writing out to litmags! While nothing has been accepted yet, I am ever more determined to be published!
There is much more good that happened in 2023 but for now, this is a good sample to end the year and beckon the new one forth with the same and even more positive vibes.

hey, i'm the Oppenheimer anon (i'm usually too shy to ask stuff off anon, but i wanted to answer)!! And yeah, it was a fascinating experience for sure. I watched barbie first (and it was fun and everything), but mostly it just made me remember how much i love going to the cinema!!! I was so incredibly excited that I thought why not watch Oppenheimer, too. Fantastic decision 10/10 like it has been ages since i saw a film that good the sound design?? the cinematography?? the writing?? Also, yes, cillian murphy was sooo pretty in his little outfits!!!
Hello!!!!!!! :DDDDDD glad to meet you :)
I love to see movies in theaters, imo it's just so superior to watching it at home. Like you're just so invested and much more mentally and physically present, and it feels like much more of an experience. And especially something like Oppenheimer with the great sound design, you're just, not to be overly dramatic but, enraptured, yknow????
Like hearing/witnessing everyone's reactions and you're all just there together, having an experience together, it's very nice to me! Kinda even makes me a bit emotional to think about, the communal experience of a movie. You're all strangers, but you're sharing a moment. I'm hoping bcs of this whole meme that people will start going to the theaters more. Seriously, so many of my best memories with my friends are from going to the movies together.
But yes very obsessed with Cillian in that movie. I already liked him before this, but god he was just so good....and pretty 🤭🤭🤭 but he just really embodied the role, and was so intense and compelling and emotional

If I sound familiar please do not read whats gonna follow. If you think you know me irl GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE. 🤍
If u think this situation is something that you are a part of or heard me talk about, please do not read and send me a private msg on ig w a ss of this cuz I don’t want u to read this. ESPECIALLY if ure involved. Thx!
So essentially: I went to see the Barbie movie… but ending up not seeing it 🧍🏻♀️ Lemme explain!
So me and my friend J ahead of time. So we went around the mall and did her makeup at Sephora (which was fun). Later S met us and we headed to a place to eat. We started eating and ordered a drink. After eating we went to a bar and in that bar, and we started drinking. So I typically drink a lot over a long period so I dont get too fucked up. But this time I drank like twice of what I usually drink. Me and S drank a lot and started joking and stuff. And then after a while me and J go to the bathroom together and she’s like “omg its like we’re dating” (she has a boyfriend but she’s bi). So I like joke with her and after peeing we like stare in the mirror andI put my head on her shoulder from the back-ish. And she says “omg stop doing that I might catch feels” and I like joke cuz wtv? Right? WRONG. Anyways we go back to the table and continue joking with S.
At this point lets fast forward, we’re 4 drinks deep (4 shots and 2 drinks which is 4 for me wtv) and her bf called. And me and S r like hang up cuz they’ve been talking for like 10 mins and I jokingly take her phone and say “Ok M, we’ll see you later bye” and close, which is like in a fun I’m drunk way. Like everyone laughs it off and it’s fine but like I felt like including it bc he’s a nice dude and I genuinely don’t hate him but I did hang up but like everyone laughed so I’m overthinking it I hope.
Anyways fast forward to us getting into the cinema, J and S kiss (S is str8 btw). And so J is like let’s kiss too, and I’m like “ok” but also “k????” but I was drunk so we peck or wtv and then I kiss S but again AS A DRUNK PECK BETWEEN FRIENDS.
We then get to our seats which fine cool and me and J start flirting. Like borderline not platonic flirting. And at some point we start peck again. And then kiss. And then kiss once more. And like continue flirting and stuff. Which is like fine bc it’s platonic ig, and her bf literally said “Nice” over text. (Also she showed me the convo but said don’t read it, and I didn’t bc my drunk brain said ‘It’s not about me’ when in reality it’s probably about me) But like after she started saying stuff like “Dont hold S’ hand. You’re cheating” and “Ok but you said I’m not your type.” Which I did say, bc she’s not and she’s in a relationship how tf am I cheating??? Also after the kisses she said “You can practice on me” cuz I said “It’s been a while since I didn’t kiss anybody” (I put the Bi in Bitchless)
Anyways we go to the bathroom together and she’s like “want me to go w you I dont want you falling” and I’m like wobbly but Im fine. And like when we return we lay on the floor or idek but I know at some point I pulled her and kinda slammed her into the wall in a hot *drunk* way. Which like idek why I did that pls it’s cringe. And then she kept giving me signals to kiss her during the movie but I was like “You do it.” Cuz I didn’t wanna kiss her but also I wanted to flirt. So Im confused and I’m pretty sure she’s in love with me but also I told her “I don’t wanna fuck you” and she said “I dont want it either” which I was like “ouch.” And she was like “Bruh!!” And I mean my ego
Anyways the next day she texted me in the early early morning *8am cuz I had a shift then* asking me if I’m okay and if I got to work safe. Which she never does. And I’m like “is she in love with me? I mean I don’t think so??”
PLEASE I DONT WANNA BREAK UP A COUPLE AND IM PRETTY SURE IM NOT BUT I FEEL GUILTY OMG. *this happened 2 days ago btw!*
Also Pretty sure I’m the only one who’s being dramatic about the whole thing and J is like not even caring! 🧍🏻♀️✨

Um.. hi, I hope someone can give me some advice. I have had this crush on a girl for a long time but now it's stronger than ever and I want to try and do something about it but we aren't close at all, we follow each other on Instagram and she watches my stories. I really want to catch her attention and become close to her (even if just as friends) but I don't know how to do it, I'm not exactly good/smooth at conversations so I'm worried I'll scare her away. Any advice?
Hi anon! It’s a nerve-wracking situation, but you’ve got some options! I’m going to order them from least scary to most scary, and I’ve got faith in you!!! <3
Least scary - Make an Insta story asking for song recs, and if she responds, then you can start talking abt the music!!! It’s very Jay Gatsby (throwing a party just to impress your crush) but it’s low risk! She won’t know it’s specifically to trigger a convo with her, and it means you aren’t putting yourself out there too much!
A little scary - Send her a meme on Instagram and say “this reminded me of you!” I do this with my friends, and sometimes with old friends I haven’t talked to in ages, and tbh? Memes are really good for lightheartedness! If your crush has a niche interest (Barbie movies, Hades) then sending a themed meme could be a nice way of saying “your taste??? impeccable!” and it also breaks the ice if you both know abt the thing!
Decently scary - Message her to start up a convo abt something she’s posted! I know you feel a bit nervous starting convos, but over text, you have a bit of breathing room and a bit of awkwardness is harder to pick up on! <3 plus like... it’ll give you more confidence when talking in person!
Quite rather scary - Talking to her irl abt something she’s posted/an interest/showing her a meme! Frankly there’s no expectation you have to do this, bc I personally would struggle to take my own advice on this one, but if the opportunity comes up then grasping it could be good! I don’t know much abt how outgoing your crush is, but if you feel awkward they could fill in the gaps if they’re that sort of a person.
Frankly terrifying tbh - I don’t know how your country’s doing with COVID, but if it’s good (read: safe to go to a theatre) a lot of cinemas are doing reruns of old films! You could ask her and some friends if they want to go, and it’ll be fun, but also a chance to break the ice with her. I have done this before, with a decent amount of success (friendship wise!) but it’s definitely a step out of your comfort zone, I’d imagine! The good thing abt movies is that you can go in, bask in your crush’s presence, and then have something to talk about once you’re out! You can get ice cream afterwards too, which is like... top tier in my opinion, especially after being in a movie theatre.
In any case!!! I wish you the best of luck anon, and if these are all really scary, there’s always vagueposting on your story but I wouldn’t recommend that <3 ! Good luck anon!!!!
#not a suggestion#long post#ask thing#this got long but I promise there are good ideas in here!!!#memes are so underrated for getting close to crushes!#like. I did it with my bf! it went great!#and also it's good with friends too!!!!#I send my friends kermit the frog memes a lot#and my sibling I send veggietales memes unironically#and to my bf I send him smash memes#and it works!#memes are just good imo#anyway!!!! I'm rambling but GOOD LUCK ANON!!!!!!!!#pls lmk how it goes!!!!!#Anonymous

Favorite Childhood Movies
Post ten GIFs of movies you loved as a child, then tag ten people. Optional: Tell us why you love(d) the films you picked.
Thanks to @friendly-jester for tagging me! I feel like every single memory I ever had was purged upon seeing this prompt but I’ll try my best.
These are just in order of what I remember
1) The Little Mermaid
I loved this movie so much that I basically broke our vhs tape of it. I don’t remember exactly what caught my eye but it was probably mermaids bc I thought they were so cool. Also singing because I love musicals.
2) George of the Jungle
I thought this movie was the peak of comedy. I watched it recently and wasn’t as enamored (not a fan of fake gorilla) but it holds a place in my heart. And the phrase “watch out for that tree” plays in my head to this day
3) The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride
HE IS NOT ONE OF US, HE WILL NEVER BE ONE OF US. I watched this whenever I was sick. I also have seen it more than I have seen the first one. I liked having a female main character and also loved the music. Yes, I also liked Kovu, shut up.
4) Shaolin Soccer
This scene right here where you see his butt was literally the funniest thing in the world to me as a kid. I still love the movie, its funny and crazy. This and Kung Fu Hustle hold dear places in my heart (though I didn't get to see Kung Fu Hustle till I was a bit older)
5) Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Still love this movie, Monty Python shaped so much of what my sense of humor is today. I will still quote it often.
6) Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Without fail, the shire song makes me feel like crying, it feels like home. I watched the movies with my family a lot as a kid and still love them to this day. Who doesn't want to go on a harrowing magical adventure.
7) Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
I’m pretty sure this was the first ghibli movie I ever saw. When I was little I loved Totoro as well (and later once I wasn't scared of it, Spirited Away) but I would watch this when my parents were having an adult get together and I was bored. I love the scene with the golden field of Oms.
8) Muppet Treasure Island
This movie is a masterpiece, and my housemates can attest to how many times I mention this movie. Family friends really love it so I saw it first (and often) through them. Its just a lot of fun, gotta love Muppets
9) Barbie as Rapunzel
A dragon and cool dresses what’s not to love? I played the dvd game extensively (she painted dresses??? I wanted to paint dresses and make them real!). Loved basically all Barbie movies at the time as well, Swan Lake and Pegasus were other favorites
10) Digimon: The Movie
Y'all this movie slaps, the ska soundtrack, the ridiculous dub its got everything. I love digimon so fucking much oh my god. All My Best Friend Are Metalheads playing as Diaboromon takes over all electronics, poetic cinema. Also Gatomon’s mega evolution is so fucking cool.
I tag @sockythedog @shiro1364 @czar-squid @ass-master-2000 @kristoph-kun @stillforests @compostingqueen @ephemeroyal @yadedaj @bobkitten and anyone else who wants to

For the DxR fic meme: Nine x Rose; 01 G ☯
(Nine x Rose, Jackie’s flat, midnight, Rose’s diary; from @doctorroseprompts )
***
He knows he shouldn’t, and yet, here he is.
(But it’s not exactly his fault, is it? If she didn’t wanthim to see it, maybe she shouldn’t have left it lying around all public in theopen, conspicuous and winking at him and daring him to take a little peek, wriggling its (figurative) hips like a minx in red throwing a perfumed kissover one shoulder. Never mind the fact that it wasn’t lying around in public somuch as it was in her room, that it wasn’t in the open so much as it was tuckedunder her mattress.)
The Doctor glances around furtively, even though he knows noone will catch him in the act; the flat is empty of any other living thing, save for him and the dust motes colonizing the space beneath the rug. Rose andher oddity of a mum have whisked off somewhere or other (“a proper girls’night”, Jackie might’ve said, or might not have, as the Doctor might not havebeen listening) and Jack is goodness-knows-where with goodness-knows-whom, sothe Doctor figures he’s got a good few hours to himself before anyone returns. And he’s got to find some way to occupy himself, hasn’t he?
(Besides, it isn’t as if he went snooping specifically for it.More like, he snooped, and there it conveniently was. Also, he’s bored.)
Plunking himself down on her bed—not nearly as soft or plushas her TARDIS bed, he thinks with a smirk—the Doctor opens the book to thefirst page.
Dear dairy readsthe first line.
The Doctor chuckles. There is no date scrawled anywhere onthe page, but the scribbles and misspellings amidst very careful and deliberatestrokes tell the Doctor these words were written by someone who had only recentlylearned penmanship, and was determined to do it well.
Dear dairy
Hello how are you? Myname is Rose Marion Tyler. It is my brithday today I am 6 years old.
It’s almost impossible to imagine Rose ever being so young;far easier to picture her emerging fully-grown and stubborn-willed and jeopardy-friendlystraight from inception. But the Doctor tries, and in his mind’s eye he canalmost see her sitting on the bed—no, lying on it, stomach-down, her sock-cladfeet kicking idly in the air. Her hair, unbleached and light brown, would be pulledback into a ponytail, held in place by one of those what d’you-call-it’s. A scrunchie. Her head would bend down inconcentration over the diary as she clutched her pen tightly in her small fist. The Doctor imagines the pen to be pink, glittery, one of those gel-things, hopelesslyand wonderfully childish and girly, and his grin broadens.
Mummy and me had aparty in the park and Lottie and Fred cud not come but Shireen was there andMickey to and his gran and my grandad Prentis. Grandad brung cake from thestore it has had a heart drawed on and my name and there were candels. We had ice cream to. And I had prezents there was a barby and shoes and a newbell for my bike…
The list continues and the Doctor rolls his eyes fondly.Clearly, six-year-old Rose had decided to commit only the most pertinent ofdetails to memory. He flips through perhaps the first quarter of the diary, pausingat a mention of Mickey here, a drawing of a flower there, and watches as Rose’shandwriting grows more confident, her entries more substantial. Her diary is amicrocosm of her adventures with mates, days at school, developing crushes, thelikeability of some of Jackie’s boyfriends and the caddishness of others. Atrandom, the Doctor slips a finger between the pages and opens the diarymid-entry, perhaps a year or two along its timeline.
and it felt awful butI didnt say anything bc he was right I dont have a dad but Keisha got angry andtold him to butt out and mind his own business. So then Nick laughed and madefun of Keisha bout her mum and I thot Keisha might cry so I punched Nick in thenose and it bled and the head teacher says I cant come back to school for aweek. Mum says Im in trouble but she didnt stop granddad from buying me a 99 onthe way home and she said next time do a slap its easier on the nuckles.
The Doctor can just picture Rose, eight years old, eyesflashing and stance wide as she bloodies some little twerp’s nose with herfist. Now that—that is a Rose he has no trouble imagining. Laughing, the Doctorshakes his head and flips to a later entry.
8 Nov 1996
Dear diary,
We went to go see Dad yesterday.
The Doctor pauses, hesitates. He knows what the words mean—they’refigurative, not literal, because it would be another eleven years before Rose sawany more of Pete Tyler than old photos and a grave—but the memory of the daynine years earlier still sends a shiver down his spine, clenches something inhis gut in a guilty-sick feeling he can’t quite explain.
Mum told me the storyagain. She seemed all right definitely better than the last time. I think thephotos help. Granddad came to and I don’t think he rly liked Dad very much buthe was nice about him today nicer than on other days. Afterwards Mum went todrop me off with Mickey but he said she needed me so I went on home and she seemeda little happier but she still cried a bit.
The Doctor wrinkles his nose. Something about Mickey theIdiot doing a good turn makes him grumpy. Who does that idiot think he is,anyway?
We had tea and fellasleep in front of the telly. I wanted to make her dinner but there was nothingin and I couldnt find anything in her purse so I went down to Ms Nodd’s bc she’sout seeing her grandson and I got the spare key from under her flower pot and Ilooked in her bedroom and found a few pounds and took them. I bought Mum aChinese from her favourite place and she didnt ask where I got the money so I didnttell her. I dont think Ms Nodd would know it was me that took it but I stillfeel bad I just didnt know what else to do. Ill pay her back when I get somemoney for my bday.
Nice old bird, that Ms Nodd. Much nicer than some of theother tenants on the Estate, with her blue-tinged hair and cheerful smile andwithered old hands that freely distribute home-baked biscuits to errant TimeLords who just happen to be handy with a squeaky front door. The Doctor makes amental note to liberate an ATM of a couple hundred-pound-notes at his earliestopportunity and slip them into her flat.
He reads a few more pages—comfortably silly stuff, all ofit, more crushes and rants about school and discussions of celebrities andfashion and Rose’s favorite things on telly—until his fingers land on an oddlybrittle page, warped in places, buckling. Several of the words are nearlyimpossible to discern, smudged as they are, and it takes the Doctorapproximately .003 seconds to identify the water marks as tears.
(There’s no dear diaryhere, no date. The words simply begin, as if writing anything more than theabsolutely necessary would take too much energy. Like it would hurt too much.)
Granddad’s gone.
The Doctor sighs, and his hearts each break a little foryoung Rose, curled up in her bed and crying bitter tears into her pillow. Tenyears old is far too young to experience the cruelty of such a loss. But it isn’tas if it gets any easier at any other age. The Doctor knows that to be painfullytrue.
Had a heart attack.Doctors said he went in his sleep and didn’t feel anything. I hope that’s true.Mum said he’s with the angels now but that’s stupid. The angels don’t need him wedo. I already miss him.
Mum can’t stop crying.I wish Dad was here.
And there’s that feeling again in the Doctor’s gut, thesquirmy-sicky one. Almost as if his stomach knows he shouldn’t be doing this, like his body is punishing him. It was all well and good reading about the funfrivolities of a carefree primary-schooler, but this sort of thing—this issomething else. Something deep and personal, a compound fracture of emptinessand hurt. The Doctor knows should stop reading now. He really should.
(He doesn’t.)
It takes a few weeks for the mentions of Granddad Prentice tostart fading, but eventually, they do, fading away to be gradually replaced bythe normality of everyday life. Sometimes months pass between diary-entries;other times, years. The Doctor smiles as he glances over recountings of schooldays and formals and skipping classes, of Jackie’s eccentric cluster of boyfriends,of fights with friends and happy makings-up after, of holidays and gossip andhopes for the future. The day Rose and Shireen fall out over a boy is marked byan obscene amount of swearing and words crossed-out and pencil-punctures dugdeep into the page; the day Mickey asks Rose to be his girlfriend is noted withexclamation points and a lipgloss-kiss.
The day Rose meets Jimmy Stone is noted with a single heartthat simply reads Mrs Rose Stone.
Grimacing at the words, the Doctor forces himself to presson.
OMG met this bloke Jimmyyesterday n he was soooo fit reads the next entry. Shireen and Keisha and me went down the pub and he was playing in theband and I thot he fancied Keisha at first but after he asked for my number ♡ ♡ ♡I kno it doesn’t mean nothing so I didn’ttell Mickey cos no point in him worrying and he gets so jealous anyway lol
Awww, poor jealous ickle Mickey, thinks the Doctor. He snortsderisively. Human beings—so quick to such petty reactions. He’s very glad hedoesn’t have to worry about silly things like that.
Still, it’s a little surprising when, just a few pages later, things have already progressed by leaps and bounds. Jimmy kissed me! leaps out from the page, followed by things like Mickey and me had a fight and Snuck out to hear Jimmy play downtownand Went to the cinema with Jimmy and he puthis hand up my sk
Hearts hammering, the Doctor flips past that page before hiskeen eyes have a chance to read any further. For some reason, the thought ofJimmy putting his hand up anything of Rose’s—indeed, of Jimmy or some otherfool even thinking about touching her, anywhere, with anything—makes him burn abit under the collar. Unpleasant, that. Maybe he’d better take a look at Jackie’sthermostat, make sure it’s doing its job, because it certainly doesn’t feellike it.
(Still, he skips the several pages that follow, just to besafe.)
said if Iwalked out that door I’d better not walk back in and you know what screw her. She’s wasted her whole life crying about Dad and never doing anything withherself and never doing anything for me. I hate her I would rather die then belike her
Eyes widening in surprise, the Doctor quickly scans over thenext few pages, his concern deepening by the second.
love Jimmy andno one can tell me any different and if Mum really knew what love was then she’dunderstand
Im so glad I’mwith him now he gets me like no one else ever has or ever will, ♡ him forever
didnt want totake my a-levels anyway not like it means anything out in the real world
moving into aflat together next week can’t wait ♡♡♡
and I love himbut I wish he’d get a job cos the gigs don’t make enough n I can’t covereverything on my own
came home drunkagain last night n wouldnt tell me where he’d been
told me I’dbetter cough up the rest of the rent by next weekend or else he would
And then, nothing.
The Doctor frowns. Whatever he would do is left unexplained, torn away along with a wholecluster of pages in the diary, leaving a ragged little scar behind where wordsand feelings used to sit. The Doctor runs a finger along the page-stumps leftin the spine, and wonders.
What could have happened that was so bad that even the memoryof it had to be ripped away?
The next entry picks up a few weeks later. It does notmention Jimmy. Instead, the page displays only a handful of lonely words:
He wasright. I’m so stupid.
It takes a moment for the Doctor to realize that the diaryis shaking in his hands. But that’s only because he’s gripping it so tightlyhis knuckles are glowing bright white in an attempt to jump out of his skin. Andsuddenly he’s glad, in quite a perverse way, that he has witnessed thedestruction of the Reapers firsthand, because otherwise the temptation to pilotthe TARDIS back in time to ensure that Jimmy Stone never hurt Rose—that henever so much as existed, never so much as blighted this planet with even asingle vile breath—would be so strong that he’s not entirely sure he’d be ableto stop himself.
Forcing himself to calm, the Doctor skips forward, hopefullyto an entry that won’t cause hisblood to boil angrily in his ears. Now phrases like moved back in with Mum today and applied at Henriks greet his eyes, and he feels the muscles in hisshoulders begin to relax.
and a sweet ginger boy’sstarted coming round, Mum named him Jonesy
but the new job’s notso bad
going out to the clubswith Shireen
Mickey stopped by withflowers today and it was like nothing had ever gone wrong
anyway we’re datingagain
nothing’ll come of itbut some blokes won in Bristol last week so who knows, maybe we’ll win a littlesomething n I could get Mum something nice
a little boring Iguess but prolly about the best I can expect for now
So my job blew uptoday???
Now a grin spreads across the Doctor’s face, lighting it upfrom ear-to-ear. Finally. Took longenough to get here. Now for the reallygood stuff.
Fingers tingling in anticipation, he turns the page.
Nothing.
The Doctor flips through the remaining pages, hunting forsomething, anything, but nothing buta sea of white greets his eyes, winking up at him obnoxiously without so muchas a single date or scribble or scrawl to capture his attention. The rest ofthe diary is completely, utterly blank.
Huffing in irritation, the Doctor sits back, flipping thebook closed with a scowl. It makes a certain sense, he supposes, but still.Really? She’ll write about ice cream and Barbies and school gossip and Mickeythe Idiot but no mention of the TARDIS, no asides about traveling through timeand space, no discussion of Dickens or Slitheen or bitchy trampolines or 900year-old Time Lords taking her by the hand to show her anything her littleheart could ever possibly—
CLANG.
“I just found it!” blurts out the Doctor without eventhinking, pushing off the bed and whirling round to face Rose’s open bedroomdoorway. But no one stands there; indeed, if his superior hearing is anythingto go by (and it usually is), there’s no one within several meters of him, certainlyno one in the flat. And the continuing ding-dang-dongbell’s sound, ringing at twelve lazy but significant intervals, informs himthat his nervousness was for naught—it’s just Jackie’s old grandfather clock, noisily (and unnecessarily, the Doctor thinks with a grump) proclaiming thetime.
It’s midnight. Probably Rose and Jackie will be home soon. Andprobably he shouldn’t let them know he was nosing through Rose’s diary.
(Even if it wasn’t his fault, seeing as they left him aloneand bored and unoccupied in the flat, and even if he didn’t find what he waslooking for—even if he’s not entirely certain what that was.)
As he slips the diary back into its hiding-place beneathRose’s mattress, it occurs to him that there are any number of reasons Rosemight not be writing things in a diary any more—she forgot it at home, or she’stoo tired after their adventures, or too distracted, or maybe she’s even got anew one aboard the TARDIS, hidden somewhere equally silly. But there’s anotheroption too, he realizes; that she’s simply too happy to see the need forwriting things down, that she is too busy living her memories to think of takingthe time to document them. The thought warms him, contentment blooming in hischest, and he leaves Rose’s room with a smile, closing the door behind him.
(He still checks her room on the TARDIS just in case.)
